A Yellow Raft In Blue Water Analysis
The book A Yellow Raft in Blue Water is told in three separate parts by three different generations of
Native American women. The three women are similar to one another and their stories are connected.
A granddaughter, a mother, and a grandmother s story are connected because of the fact that one
another. Michael Dorris informed the reader of the roles, duties, and rights of 20th century women.
The role of a young women was to find their identity. Dorris expressed this role with Rayona s section
with reference to the book. In Rayona s section she has a difficult time finding herself in light of the
fact that she is Native American and African American. Christine has not provided Rayona with
knowledge of her heritage so she is having a hard

Chapter Three
Evidence of the Positive Effects of the Kodaly Method on American Music Education Numerous
studies have provided evidence of the positive effects the Kodaly Method has on many aspects of the
child as a whole person. Literacy is a very important part of the education of a child. Gromko (2005)
tested the hypothesis that music instruction that emphasizes the development of aural perception
would lead to significant gains in the development of young children s phonemic awareness,
particularly in their phoneme segmentation fluency (the ability to break words down Into Individual
sounds). Phonemic awareness is one aspect of phonological awareness, a reliable predictor of later
reading ability. Results revealed that kindergarten ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Musical involvement allows students to think about math in a different way. In the regular classroom,
math is often just math. Often times, children cannot see the use for math, especially if it is a subject
that they struggle to understand. In music class, however, math has a very distinct purpose. It helps
make music. Without math there would be no steady beat. Music gives math a purpose and helps
students understand skills using cross curricular approach. The information found as a result of these
tests is also significant because it proves the importance of music education in the overall education of
a child. Kodaly believed that music education should exist at the core of curriculum. He believed that
music is essential to make any education complete. Music should not be thought of as a frill to the
education system or a special activity or even a privilege. Music education is as important as any other
subject that is recognized as a core subject and should be respected as such in the education of

My Experience Of Volunteering At A Local Nursing Home
I signed up to volunteer at a local nursing home. Because my father works there, I have been there
many times before. However, volunteering there was very new to me.
I had to understand the circumstances in which people were in and how interact with residents
respectfully and compassionately which provided opportunities for personal growth by practicing
integrity, justice and good stewardship. Though I was a bit hesitant, my experience has been very
positive. Just being a volunteer without any related experience or skills, I was unqualified to help and
many ways. The few menial tasks that I was able to do seemed to be met with much enthusiasm and
appreciation. Simply helping someone to their seat bringing them a cup of tea or ... Show more

Throughout their history, their mission was always to provide quality care with respect and dignity to
the elderly.
I had my moments of success and happiness when I was able to help someone along and see how
appreciative they were. There were also times that were saddening and uncomfortable. When visiting
rooms, I did encounter people who were losing grip on their mental and physical abilities. I felt a
heaviness because even though they were taken care of, there wasn t that could be done to make them
better. It was inspiring seeing nurses and family members continuing to care for them and keep
dignity.
I do believe my action had an impact on the residents. When assisting with activities for the residents,
we were able to spend less time setting up less time residents needed to just sit and wait for the
activity to being. The impact made was I was able to get services to the residents (who can and do get
impatient when waiting to play bingo.) I also think that simple gestures of kindness were enough to
brighten someone s day which in and of itself makes it worthwhile.
From this understanding, we as a people have a responsibility to unite in the pursuit of justice in order
to make all voices heard and recognize those who are in the greatest need. Practice of these teachings
would undoubtedly promote the common good. When seeking out suffering and seeing to it that
injustice is overcome

Simone De Beauvoir The Second Sex Analysis
Nicole Brautigam Gender Studies Midterm One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman. Feminist
philosopher Simone de Beauvoir wrote the book, The second Sex, in 1949 to investigate the popular
definitions of femininity. She concluded that those definitions had been used to suppress women
through the ages. For de Beauvoir, the views of individuals are socially and culturally produced.
Femininity is not inherent, it is a construct that has been learned through socialization to keep men
dominant. De Beauvoir argued that women have been historically treated as inferior and secondary to
men for three reasons. She exemplifies that society teaches women, one, to fulfil a male s needs and
therefore exist in relation to men. Two, to follow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
De Beauvoir, an author who critiqued Freud s theory, that it is not a matter of penis envy, rather what
the penis stands for. Women are lesser than men. Author Sigmund Freud had said, Most of people s
personality form during early childhood years. He outlined a series of psychosexual stages that
children pass through. The stages consist of the oral stage, the anal stage, the phallic stage, the latency
stage, and the genital stage. From birth to approximately 18 months, kids are in the oral stage. They
get most of their pleasure by sucking, biting and chewing. During this stage, kids are still dependent
on mom. Next is the anal stage, kids are in that from 18 months to 3 years old. During the anal stage
children get a sense of control of the environment, as their mothers try to toilet train them. This is
called the anal stage because pleasure comes from their bladder and sphincter muscles. They know
that when they use these muscles, they can control part of their environment and no longer totally be
dependent on mom. During the phallic stage, from 3 to 6 years old, pleasure comes from the genitals.
Freud believed at this stage kids would become sexually attracted to the opposite sex parent. Jealous
and rivalrous of their same sex parent. During the phallic stage for men, they develop castration
anxiety because they feel desires for their mothers, and murderous towards the fathers. Most

Executive Summary
Lease is one of the most important measures in providing an overall financial obligations of a
company. It s a way of gaining access to assets, obtaining finance and reducing risk of assets
ownership (IFRS Exposure Draft Leases 2013, pp. 5). However, existing lease recognition under
standard AASB 117 is limited and inconsistent, it does not provide a clear picture to the existing
financial statement users.
Thus on May 2013, International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and Financial Accounting
Standards Board (FASB) has issued ED/2013/6 Lease.
This report will observe:
The fundamental meaning of the term lease and its characteristics. Then by drawing on ED/2013/6, it
will explain how companies (lessees) are required ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Type B Leases of property example land.
According to ED/2013/6 entity (lessee) should recognise a lease in the books in the following way:
Step 1 Initial Measurement
Lessee is required to initially recognise all leases on balance sheet as asset and lease liability at the
present value of lease payments.
EXCEPTION Entity is not required to record asset and lease liability in the balance sheet only if the
lease is a short term lease.
Step 2 Subsequent Measurement
(I) Type A leases Lessee would subsequently measure the amortisation on the right of use asset
according to the existing IFRS for the non financial assets, measured at cost, using straight line
method or other systematic method which represents the use of an asset. Further, the unwinding of the
discount on the lease liability (as interest) will be shown separately from the amortisation of the right
of use asset.
(II) Type B Leases Lessee would recognise periodic lease expenses (amortise the right of use asset) on
a straight line basis over the lease term. The lessee would recognise periodic lease expense as the
greater of the following:
Calculated amortisation cost at the start of the period using straight line method.
Interest expense for a period on the lease liability by using the effective interest method.
In this case, lessee would need to combine the amortisation of the right of use asset with the
unwinding of the discount on the lease liability.

The Controversy Of Human Cloning
Human Cloning
The controversy of human cloning has contemplated the reasons it should or shouldn t be allowed.
Human cloning is the reproduction of human cells and tissue by creating a genetical copy artificially.
Clones contain original characteristics of the individual or cell. There are many dangerous risks and
great benefits to human cloning. Many people have an extraordinary reaction to cloning because it
creates all sorts of images. Cloning is a medical breakthrough that can help millions of people if it is
scientifically proven to be 100% safe. Is science really ready to officially clone a human?
Human cloning has advanced dramatically over the years. The first breakthrough in science was
cloning a sea urchin in 1885. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The moral code for religious people stands at cloning being unacceptable. Various religious followers
believe that science is playing God . This also corresponds with laws of the United States as well as
other countries. Laws have outlawed cloning in general or have research monitored, the issue was first
addressed by California legislature, which banned reproductive cloning, or cloning to initiate a
pregnancy, in 1997. Since then Arkansas, Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts,
Michigan, Rhode Island, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Virginia have enacted
measures to prohibit reproductive cloning, (NCLS 1).
What are the benefits of human cloning? Even though genetically copying something has its
negatives, there are upswings. For example, cloning can help infertile couples get children of their
own. It also can help patients that are injured.
My believe stands on the fact that human cloning is wrong. With the low success rate it has, I do not
think that cloning is reasonable. Most of cloning has taken place with animals which cannot take the
place of a human being. There is a large room for error. What if the experiment goes wrong, then
what? That person could either be at risk for death or other

The Cafe Window
In the early evening back at home Consuelo was still pacing in front of the café window. Concerned
for the safety of her only son, who had departed this morning wearing his sleepwear and robe. Her jaw
fell open when on the sidewalk before her appeared Stella and Sol, with much audacity. Carrying up
the path garment bags from a high end department store. Behind them was Dr. Edwards who had just
pulled in after his long shift at work. He walked towards Stella who was standing in front of the door.
He greeted her with a big, juicy, wet, kiss, then they all just walked right in.
Consuelo, who was still owning her tantrum, was offended by their smiles and casual stances. Not
wanting to believe what she was seeing when she questioned, Are those really garment bags you
carrying? Calm and collect Sol put on her sarcastic tone and lifted her head and retorted You saw the
wedding invitation. My daughter gets married next Saturday. We will dress impeccably well for the
fiasco. Consuelo who was speechless regained her composure for a moment, I understand that she
became a loon, but did I miss something with you two? My son is going to be crushed, while you are
going to look your finest for the biggest mistake your daughter is going to make in her life? I just don t
understand.
Sol replied proud, You always put on a good face during bad weather, don t you go out in the rain with
makeup? Consuelo was so appalled she could only muster, You mean you are not going to stop her?

In the paper Steganographic Schemes for File System and B Tree [3], they have introduced StegFD, a
practical scheme to implement a steganographic file system in which a plausible deniability to owners
of protected files is offered. StegFD hides the selected files in a file system securely in such a way

described which arises when the storage system is untrusted and is shared by multiple users. In such
cases, the attacker could obtain multiple snapshots of the storage content and analyze them to deduce
the existence of secret user data. To solve this problem, they have introduced a Dummy Relocatable
Steganographic (DRSteg) file system. It employs new techniques to share and relocate dummy data at

How Did Stalin Influence American Culture
After World War Two, Stalin s Iron Curtain descended across Europe. This was an attempt by him to
isolate and shield the Soviet Union from Western and non Soviet controlled areas. Above all, Stalin
and other Soviet leaders feared influence from The United States. Their fear was quite justified, as
Soviet people became incredibly curious and eager to borrow and emulate American culture. Similar
fears were present in other communist Eastern European countries in the Eastern Bloc. Despite Stalin
s and communist leaders attempt at isolation, Eastern European people were still able to breach the
Iron Curtain and learn about Western ideas and culture. Culture in the Eastern Bloc became dominated
by American taste and culture as early as the 1940s, but it wasn t until the 1970s that rock music began
to dominate the scene. The influence of rock and rock in Soviet music can be seen as early as 1957.
Prior to this, jazz music had been the popular form of music. At the VI World Youth Festival in
Moscow, visiting performers played songs titled Crazy Rhythm and Rock n Roll 1. The journal Soviet

Symbolism In Claude Lorrain
While opinion and interpretation concerning the works of Claude Lorrain (1600 82) have shifted over
the past three centuries, to present day scholars, the artist is nonetheless regarded as a father of
classical landscape painting. Largely recognized for his sprawling scenes of nature meeting old world
civilization, the artist masterfully juxtaposes timeless natural scenes with figures and architecture that
evoke a sense of classical antiquity. While mythological themes would have been in step with the
motif trends of his era, Lorrain distinguishes himself from his contemporaries as a landscape painter
who seamlessly marries realistic natural scenes with fantastical narratives. Landscape with Egeria
Mourning the Death of Numa [fig. 1]) is emblematic of Lorrain s symbiosis between the natural and
the civilized. And the analysis herein will demonstrate that the piece fully encapsulates the character
of his most notable landscapes. Composed by a student of Claude Lorrain in the 18th century (a copy
of an original 1669 work by Lorrain), this work is done in oil on canvas and depicts a scenic scape of
rustic architecture nestled into lush wilderness. The color utilized in this work is both complementary
and deeply contrasting. The rich, earthen colors of the shrouded forest setting and architecture
juxtapose against the pale, muted sky. The sky begins at the top of the frame in the foreground as a
pale magenta and subtly transitions to the background into a quiet, sunset like

Globalization Through The Eyes Of Soccer
Globalization through the Eyes of Soccer
One indisputable aspect of modernity is that as time has progressed, the world has become more and
more connected in all imaginable ways. This aspect of modern society is termed globalization, and it
has a large impact on how the world operates. Observing and understanding the development and
integration of soccer in various societies proffers insight as to how the sport has aided in the
increasing globalization of the world within the past century. These effects of globalization can first be
seen in the international efforts around the world of soccer. Globalization can be divided into political,
cultural and economic interactions. Examples of both the political and the cultural impacts of soccer
can be found in France and its recent history, whereas a consequence of economic globalization and its
ties to soccer can best be seen in Asia.
The history of soccer at the international level connects heavily with the idea of globalization.
Globalization, in essence, is the interaction, collaboration, and sometimes even conflict, between
people of different nations; soccer embodies this idea heavily. For instance, in 1904, seven European
nations founded the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), creating the foundation
for the behemoth of an organization that it is today (McMahon 11/8/2016). The idea behind the
association was to have a governmental body that could control and dictate international matches, as

Earthquakes In North America
The southeastern United States should, by all means, be relatively quiet in terms of seismic activity. It
s located in the interior of the North American Plate, far away from plate boundaries where
earthquakes usually occur. But the area has seen some notable seismic events most recently, the 2011
magnitude 5.8 earthquake near Mineral, Virginia that shook the nation s capital.
Now scientists report in a new study a likely explanation for this unusual activity: pieces of the mantle
under this region have been periodically breaking off and sinking down into the Earth. This thins and
weakens the remaining plate, making it more prone to slipping that causes earthquakes. The study
authors conclude this process is ongoing and likely to produce more earthquakes in the future.
Our idea supports the view that this seismicity will continue due to unbalanced stresses in the plate, ...

At first, they thought the thick, old rocks could be remnants of ancient tectonic plates. But the shapes
and locations of the thick and thin regions suggested a different explanation: through past rifting and
accretion, areas of the North American Plate have become more dense and were pulled downward into
the mantle through gravity. At certain times, the densest parts broke off from the plate and sank into
the warm asthenosphere below. The asthenosphere, being lighter and more buoyant, surged in to fill
the void created by the missing pieces of mantle, eventually cooling to become the thin, young rock in
the images.
The researchers concluded this process is likely what causes earthquakes in this otherwise stable
region: when the pieces of the mantle break off, the plate above them becomes thinner and more prone
to slip along ancient fault lines. Typically, the thicker the plate, the stronger it is, and the less likely to
produce

be something you chose based on how good the school is. To fix this problem you could either have a
universal tax that gives money to all schools in America this way schools have to give everyone who

The company s ability to pay is less than that of its competitors and will remain constrained until the
company can establish a reputation and gain a share of the market (Cascio, 2013, p. 420), so the
company should position itself carefully in the market. LL should allocate 25% of its budget for salary

additional benefits, performance based incentives, and merit pay to attract, retain, and motivate

Infertility In The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood
Infertility is the incapability or failure conceive after one year of unprotected sexual intercourse or due
to an impairment a person s capacity to reproduce either as an individual or with his/her partner. While
infertility can cause issues in men and women, women are more susceptible to having issues
conceiving naturally. 1 in 8 women (or 12% of married couples) have trouble getting pregnant or
sustaining a pregnancy (2006 2010 National Survey of Family Growth, CDC). There is a process in
which three stages such as ovulation, fertilization, and implantation that a women s body must go
through to get pregnant. When there are issues in these stages, infertility is diagnosed and examined
by a doctor therefore, making it hard to conceive a baby naturally. Throughout this paper, I will
explain three common causes of infertility in females like endometriosis, sexual transmitted diseases,
and poor nutrition. In the story The Handmaid s Tale, by Margaret Atwood, women are infertile

Norse Presence In North America
The reading states that there are three main reasons why some archaeologists believe that the coin is
not genuine historical evidence of the Norse came into contact with Native Americans almost a
thousand years ago. However, the professor states that the coins are genuine evidence and refutes each
of the authors reasons. First, the reading states that the Native American site in Maine where the coin
was discovered is located very far from other sites documenting a Norse presence in North America.
The professor opposes this point by saying that other objects were found also far away from their
orignal site. The professor explains that Native Americans were travelling for long distances to obtain
objects far away from their places. So, the

The Bonding In Shelby s Grandfathers
The bonding that happens in this family is quite valuable to Shelby. I was told that the family really
enjoys watching movies and television together, but mostly, they just get together around a dinner
table, or living room and just enjoy each other s company. There is a lot of laughter, conversation, and
memories being made. For the relationships that were singled out on the genogram (appendix B), the
activities are a bit more personal and one on one. For Shelby s grandfather, Russell, he was described
as a man of few words, but also really enjoys watching the news. So the two of them generally sit in
the living room, exchange a few words between the two of them, and just relax. The same is almost
true for Shelby s grandmother, Scarlett. Seeing

Soft Money Campaign Finance Reform
Soft Money
Whether the issue is consumer privacy, a Patients Bill of Rights, environmental pollution, or a

time to put an end to the corrupt soft money system Common Cause President Scott Harshbarger At
the basis of the campaign finance reform movement is the belief that everyone should have an equal
say in the government, and that wealthy individuals or special interest groups should not be able to

On the other hand, others claim that federal regulation of soft money is an unwarranted intrusion into
the financing of non federal elections and fear that complex regulations will have a chilling effect on
grassroots electoral activity (FEC).
Since the 1980 s, critics of the soft money system have strived to close the perceived loophole. In
1984, Common Cause petitioned the Commission for stricter rules regarding soft money allocation,
hoping to close the loophole. When the Commission concluded that the evidence of soft money abuse
was insufficient to rationalize the suggested changes, Common Cause filed a suit that led to a Court
order for the FEC to clarify its allocation regulations. In 1990 the Commission approved of new
regulations that would require all national party committees to provide full disclosure of the soft
money accounts, and all committees (with federal and non federal accounts) to use specific formulas
to determine the amount of federal funds required to be spent for any activity that benefits both federal
and non federal candidates (FEC).
While the Commission maintains that they have proceeded as far as statutory authority would permit,
short of barring the combined use of federal and nonfederal fund altogether (FEC), others maintain
that soft money is exactly what policy makers have intended to exclude from national elections

J. B Priestley s Main Idea Of Collective Responsibility
In An Inspector Calls , J.B. Priestley s main idea of collective responsibility embodies the play and is
expressed through the views of the Inspector. We are members of one body. We are responsible for
each other. Priestley s concept of an interdependent society is highly influenced by his experiences.
Given that Priestley was part of the army in World War One and was later awarded a place in
Cambridge University, he demonstrates a vast understanding of the views of people from different
classes and the divide between the upper and lower class. Priestley uses the characters of Sheila and
Mrs Birling to represent the contrasting beliefs of capitalists and socialists, through the viewpoints of
the older and younger generations.

Initially, Priestley presents Sheila as a lively, very pleased with life girl and Mrs Birling as a rather

From the start of the play, Mrs Birling is portrayed as a stubborn woman who will not accept any
blame for her actions because she thinks she is superior in comparison to other people, which is shown
when she says Girls of that class. Mrs Birling shows very little respect for the working class and due
to Mrs Birling being a representative of the capitalists, Priestley is able to show that capitalists are less
likely to care about the problems that the working class face, thus they are less likely to accept the
concept of collective responsibility. Furthermore, when she is subjected to criticism, she avoids the

Essay on The Black Panther Party for Self Defense
The Black Panther Party for Self Defense was the most significant activist group during the Civil

Gender Roles In The Chase By Annie Dillard
How much do gender roles mean to you? In the story, The Chase by Annie Dillard, a young girl,
Annie, grows up in a town where being a girl didn t affect how she grew up. When Annie was a child
she played football, baseball and threw snowballs with the boys. So as you can see being a girl in
Annie s neighborhood didn t affect her, but as everyone grows up, we all realize that gender roles
really do matter. We all probably grew up with boys and girls, but all places were different. One might
have grown up in a town where you weren t allowed to do certain things because you were a girl.
Otherwise, someone might have grown up in a town where nobody really cares about whether you
were a boy or a girl. Either way, throughout my childhood, rules and roles were all based on whether
you were a boy or a girl, and as I moved on through my life, I realized that those gender roles mean a
lot more as we grow older.
Annie Dillard grew up in a neighborhood, I would assume much like mine. Being a girl didn t matter,
having long hair and wearing dresses didn t matter to her, but one might have grown up in different
situation. When I was growing up, I had an older brother, Cameron, that is 10 years older than me. At
the age of 18 he went off into the USMC and me, as an 8 year old, didn t really realize how brave he
was. Cam spend 8 years in the Marines, and when he arrived home I realized how many boy AND

Diabetes Mellitus ( Dm )
Diabetes mellitus (DM) exists in 29.1 million people, or 9.3% of the United States population, and of
these 29.1 million people, 65% will die from a form of heart disease. DM adds incremental risk to the
development or subsequent exacerbation of heart failure; this holds true even after adjustment of
common risk factors such as ischemic heart disease and hypertension. Furthermore, the prevalence of
heart failure in patients with DM is between 10% and 22%; this is four times higher than the general
population.
Controlling blood glucose has been widely accepted as a method to reduce risk of atherosclerotic
cardiovascular events and new onset heart failure; although this observational relationship exists, no
evidence from randomized controlled trials illustrates that improved glycemic control modifies risk.
Many of the antihyperlipidemic agents, namely thiazolidinediones, dual peroxisome proliferator
activated receptor agonists, sulfonylureas, and insulin may cause adverse events such as increased
plasma volume, exacerbation of heart failure, dysregulation of myocardial metabolism, and worsening
of left ventricular function; therefore, a clinical concern exists with prescribing agents that may lead to
morbidity and mortality.
The United States Food and Drug Administration has set standards on new diabetic drugs safety in
regards to major adverse cardiovascular events, but heart failure events are not included in this safety
requirement. Moreover, the rates of heart failure

Analysis Of Love Medicine By Louise Erdrich
Faith is an exceptionally broad term. It can imply more than a few things. It could be confidence or
trust in a person or thing, or belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion, or belief in
anything, as a code of ethics, standards of merit, fidelity, etc. There are plenty of different definitions,
but what they all have in common is the idea of believing. Belief is what guides us through life,
having faith is essential and brings good to our lives. It helps us reach our goals in life, it aids us when
we re sick, it gives us something to live for when we have nothing else. Love Medicine, by Louise

relationship with grandma. Even Lipsha believed that his medicine failed, however, Grandma says

explains to him that Grandpa is not completely gone, she can still feel his presence. It s the love
medicine, my Lipsha, she said. It was stronger than we thought. He came back even after death to
claim me to his side. (Erdrich, P. 296). She elucidates to Lipsha that the love medicine had brought
Grandpa s spirit back to Grandma. Lipsha feels Grandpa s presence as well after that and begins to tell
grandpa to leave this world, and to rest in peace. Grandpa was never able to say goodbye and
Grandma believes that the love medicine had brought Grandpa back once more to embrace her and

Nick s Use Of Narrator In The Great Gatsby
The novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald follows the life of one Jay Gatsby through his
friend and neighbour, Nick Carraway. The style of narration that Fitzgerald brought into this book is a
unique concept. The story is being told by a character that has not and is not always been with Gatsby.
The use of dialogue and recounting of previous tales are used to further the storyline. Throughout the
novel the narrator recites the story in both first and third person. This suggests that Nick does not
always see what is happening with Gatsby, which in turn skews his telling of the story. First person
narrative is described as a story that is being read from the perspective of the main character. Having
access to their thoughts and emotions, their voice is what guides the reader through the storyline.
Terminology such as, I and we are used to identify this mode of narration. For instance: I ... Show

Climate Change And Environmental Threats
Climate change and environmental threats came more into focus in the last years and presently they
represent a large challenge for the society. This means that environmental considerations have to be
integrated into a number of different decisions made by businesses, individuals, policymakers and

solutions to these challenges (Chalmers University, 2012)

with large environmental impact, and for evaluating and improving designs. Therefore, in order to

Arguments Against Universal Health Care
In the United States many issues seem to arise during times of struggle and what some consider
unfairness. One of these being the topic of health care. As this problem popped up so did some
solutions did as well. One of these being a universal health care. That to some would seem to get rid
of all this unfair health care problem all together. However, others say that with a universal health
care, the costs would rise and the quality could rapidly degrade. Both of these sides show very true
factual evidence for their supporting claims.
As many people had supposed for quite a while now is the idea of a universal health care, an idea of
which is to give healthcare to all in a nation regardless if they pay for it or not. To some it would
completely and utterly get rid of all these bad incidents happening to many whom do not have health
care. It also would make it more equal, and instead of some getting health care, everyone would have
healthcare. There would be no need for any of these health problems most poor and some middle class
people have to face. Instead there would be health care for every person in the United States. This idea
would be highly beneficial to the poor and the ones who don t have healthcare or simply cannot afford
it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many who do not favor universal health care have some really valid and truthful points as to why it
would be a bad idea. As said the people who already have health care fear that the quality of care
would degrade and would make care quality worse. Others find it unfair to have to pay for others who
simply are too lazy or inconsiderate to work to get their own health care. As harsh it that may sound it
is considered true and would affect all those who already do pay for healthcare in a negative

Soil Music Analysis
How does Dirt Music articulate the main concepts which foregrounds your personal reading?
Tim Winton s novel Dirt Music explores universal experiences and the fragility of the human
condition, enabling the extrapolation of many personal readings due to its textual integrity. A personal
reading foregrounds self imposed solitude catalysed by paralysis from grief and traumatic events,
which results in emotional suppression and deterioration of identity. Post modern globalisation
exacerbates such alienation to marginalise non conformists by preventing fulfilling human
connections. Thus, painful cathartic processes are required to resolve the detriments of disconnection
through immersion into restorative landscapes to confront the past and heal.
Trauma can lead to an individual s desire for isolation from the physical world as a coping mechanism
to medicate grief and loss. Tim Winton s novel Dirt Music portrays the healing story of Georgie and
Lu who painfully confront their pasts to reinvigorate life. Solitude imposed by the oblivion of
virtuality is articulated when Georgie swims with the dog by the metaphor and emotional adjectives,
she lay back in the water, wishing some portal would open, that she might click on some dopey icon
and proceed safely, painlessly, without regret or memory, highlighting the artificial suppression of
emotions as alleviation from the debilitating consequences of grief. Moreover, disconnection as a
protective barrier against loss is

The Relevance of the Literature of Renaissance In the...
The Relevance of the Literature of Renaissance In the Twenty First Century
In many ways the age of Renaissance was similar to the times we live in. It was the beginning of the
modern era which saw a revolution in almost every aspect of life: living became prosperous for the
average people, a new money based economy was being built. Geniuses were producing scientific
inventions which were improving the quality of life. The printing press created a media revolution. It
was the epoch of an immense increase in knowledge of the world, the time of far reaching voyages of
exploration leading to India, the New World, Far East and Egypt to seek new worlds for gold, for
praise, for glory , as Sir Walter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why does Macbeth decide to murder Duncan and why is he not satisfied with his high social position?
Because his problem is that he is too ambitious. He wants to become king and he refers to that
yearning as ambition:
I have no spur To prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition, which o erleaps itself And
falls on the other.
Macbeth is fascinated with the idea of being a king but he is also aware of the disastrous price he will
have to pay. He suffers a powerful tension between his desire and his moral sense. But once his
imagination shows him the possibility, he is not able to shrug the desire off. It is one of Lady Macbeth
s functions to keep this vision alive, when she taunts him to act in response to his desires and urges
him to be more of a man. She cannot be blamed for his actions though, as he freely chooses to kill
Duncan, and even before committing the crime he knows what consequences this deed will bring. At
the same time, he cannot live with what he has done and remain the same person. The killing is
continued, bringing even greater suffering on Macbeth as he tries to remove the moral distress. We
witness his gradual dehumanization when he continues to murder in order to get peace of mind, but
instead he loses everything life has to offer:
To morrow, and to morrow, and to morrow, Creeps in this

Carl Joyner Spoke To Analysis
Last Friday we had the pleasure of being spoke to by Carl Joyner who is the CEO, Founder and
President of Triose. One thing that was interesting about his presentation was that he didn t talk much
about his company or any jobs he had. He focused mainly on his philosophy, determination and
personal story. He started with a simple but meaningful message that has inspired him all throughout
his life. There s a better way to do it . He claimed that this little message is what powered him to be
successful and innovative in the healthcare arena. He talked of his time at Penske and how they
changed their supply chain to maximize efficiency and reach more consumers. Next, he covered the
Dot Com revolution and how it influenced his experience in the business world. I found that he was
very informative, straight forward and held nothing back. I could tell that he genuinely wanted to
inform us students and make us better prepared than he was in his ... Show more content on

He is objective and self aware which allows him to recognize when he is being irrational along with
identifying it in others too. He seems like a critical thinker and a businessman who keeps a level head,
thinks through his problems and picks the best option. His confidence, after being nurtured, grows into
a tool that clearly helped him throughout his life. These are just a few of the tools/skills he uses to
accomplish tasks and succeed.
Carl Joyner truly inspired me with his talk and I am grateful that he gave such a good presentation for
I learned many things. He inspired me to study myself and know what I am capable of before diving
into some new endeavor. This is a very smart and safe way to operate because you know the flaws and
perks contained in yourself. I think that was his best point and my biggest take away. I look forward to
the next time I can learn from someone as intelligent, experienced and gutsy as Mr.

Events Leading Up To The American Revolution
The events that led up to the American Revolution war or not big events but a small set of events
when compounded together each created the catalyst to launch the colonists into revolt. The first of
the events to create the spiral effect that launched the revolution is the seven year war or the French
and Indian War that war was thought by British soldiers on several different continents. 1 location was
fought in the British colonies located in North America. The British government wanted to expand
their territory and they wanted to continue to grow the colonies from the original 13 and they wanted

Most notably was the European industrial boom. The industrial revolution was the rapid growth in
new industry evidenced by antiquating the use of hand tools in conjunction with the power driven
machines popularization. As well as, the death of the personal shop and the birth of the large scale
business operation. The effect that this expansion had was felt in every city, town and small hamlet
throughout England. Prior to the spark that ignited the revolution an artisan would create his or her
craft by hand and maybe make one or two items a day. With the use of steam powered machines a
product could be produced at ten times that rate. Obviously that made the owners of the new
businesses very happy. What did happen were unprecedented growth factories and jobs seemingly to
those looking in to create an employment boom in the large cities across England. London is one of
those cities. Everything was not wonderful however, the influx of jobs created many negatives as well

Kodaly Chapter Three Evidence of the Positive Effects of the Kodaly Method on American Music Education Numerous studies have provided evidence of the positive effects the Kodaly Method has on many aspects of the child as a whole person. Literacy is a very important part of the education of a child. Gromko (2005) tested the hypothesis that music instruction that emphasizes the development of aural perception would lead to significant gains in the development of young children s phonemic awareness, particularly in their phoneme segmentation fluency (the ability to break words down Into Individual sounds). Phonemic awareness is one aspect of phonological awareness, a reliable predictor of later reading ability. Results revealed that kindergarten ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Musical involvement allows students to think about math in a different way. In the regular classroom, math is often just math. Often times, children cannot see the use for math, especially if it is a subject that they struggle to understand. In music class, however, math has a very distinct purpose. It helps make music. Without math there would be no steady beat. Music gives math a purpose and helps students understand skills using cross curricular approach. The information found as a result of these tests is also significant because it proves the importance of music education in the overall education of a child. Kodaly believed that music education should exist at the core of curriculum. He believed that music is essential to make any education complete. Music should not be thought of as a frill to the education system or a special activity or even a privilege. However, volunteering there was very new to me. I had to understand the circumstances in which people were in and how interact with residents respectfully and compassionately which provided opportunities for personal growth by practicing integrity, justice and good stewardship. Though I was a bit hesitant, my experience has been very positive. Just being a volunteer without any related experience or skills, I was unqualified to help and many ways. The few menial tasks that I was able to do seemed to be met with much enthusiasm and appreciation. Simply helping someone to their seat bringing them a cup of tea or ... I had my moments of success and happiness when I was able to help someone along and see how appreciative they were. There were also times that were saddening and uncomfortable. When visiting rooms, I did encounter people who were losing grip on their mental and physical abilities. I felt a heaviness because even though they were taken care of, there wasn t that could be done to make them better. It was inspiring seeing nurses and family members continuing to care for them and keep dignity. I do believe my action had an impact on the residents. When assisting with activities for the residents, we were able to spend less time setting up less time residents needed to just sit and wait for the activity to being. The impact made was I was able to get services to the residents (who can and do get impatient when waiting to play bingo.) I also think that simple gestures of kindness were enough to brighten someone s day which in and of itself makes it worthwhile. From this understanding, we as a people have a responsibility to unite in the pursuit of justice in order to make all voices heard and recognize those who are in the greatest need. Practice of these teachings would undoubtedly promote the common good. When seeking out suffering and seeing to it that injustice is overcome ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Simone De Beauvoir The Second Sex Analysis Nicole Brautigam Gender Studies Midterm One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman. Feminist philosopher Simone de Beauvoir wrote the book, The second Sex, in 1949 to investigate the popular definitions of femininity. She concluded that those definitions had been used to suppress women through the ages. For de Beauvoir, the views of individuals are socially and culturally produced. Femininity is not inherent, it is a construct that has been learned through socialization to keep men dominant. De Beauvoir argued that women have been historically treated as inferior and secondary to men for three reasons. She exemplifies that society teaches women, one, to fulfil a male s needs and therefore exist in relation to men. Two, to follow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... De Beauvoir, an author who critiqued Freud s theory, that it is not a matter of penis envy, rather what the penis stands for. Women are lesser than men. Author Sigmund Freud had said, Most of people s personality form during early childhood years. He outlined a series of psychosexual stages that children pass through. The stages consist of the oral stage, the anal stage, the phallic stage, the latency stage, and the genital stage. From birth to approximately 18 months, kids are in the oral stage. They get most of their pleasure by sucking, biting and chewing. During this stage, kids are still dependent on mom. Next is the anal stage, kids are in that from 18 months to 3 years old. During the anal stage children get a sense of control of the environment, as their mothers try to toilet train them. This is called the anal stage because pleasure comes from their bladder and sphincter muscles. They know that when they use these muscles, they can control part of their environment and no longer totally be dependent on mom. During the phallic stage, from 3 to 6 years old, pleasure comes from the genitals. Freud believed at this stage kids would become sexually attracted to the opposite sex parent. Jealous and rivalrous of their same sex parent. During the phallic stage for men, they develop castration anxiety because they feel desires for their mothers, and murderous towards the fathers. It s a way of gaining access to assets, obtaining finance and reducing risk of assets ownership (IFRS Exposure Draft Leases 2013, pp. 5). However, existing lease recognition under standard AASB 117 is limited and inconsistent, it does not provide a clear picture to the existing financial statement users. • 11. How Did Stalin Influence American Culture After World War Two, Stalin s Iron Curtain descended across Europe. This was an attempt by him to isolate and shield the Soviet Union from Western and non Soviet controlled areas. Above all, Stalin and other Soviet leaders feared influence from The United States. Their fear was quite justified, as Soviet people became incredibly curious and eager to borrow and emulate American culture. Similar fears were present in other communist Eastern European countries in the Eastern Bloc. Despite Stalin s and communist leaders attempt at isolation, Eastern European people were still able to breach the Iron Curtain and learn about Western ideas and culture. Culture in the Eastern Bloc became dominated by American taste and culture as early as the 1940s, but it wasn t until the 1970s that rock music began to dominate the scene. • 12. Symbolism In Claude Lorrain While opinion and interpretation concerning the works of Claude Lorrain (1600 82) have shifted over the past three centuries, to present day scholars, the artist is nonetheless regarded as a father of classical landscape painting. Largely recognized for his sprawling scenes of nature meeting old world civilization, the artist masterfully juxtaposes timeless natural scenes with figures and architecture that evoke a sense of classical antiquity. While mythological themes would have been in step with the motif trends of his era, Lorrain distinguishes himself from his contemporaries as a landscape painter who seamlessly marries realistic natural scenes with fantastical narratives. Landscape with Egeria Mourning the Death of Numa [fig. 1]) is emblematic of Lorrain s symbiosis between the natural and the civilized. And the analysis herein will demonstrate that the piece fully encapsulates the character of his most notable landscapes. Composed by a student of Claude Lorrain in the 18th century (a copy of an original 1669 work by Lorrain), this work is done in oil on canvas and depicts a scenic scape of rustic architecture nestled into lush wilderness. The color utilized in this work is both complementary and deeply contrasting. The rich, earthen colors of the shrouded forest setting and architecture juxtapose against the pale, muted sky. Globalization Through The Eyes Of Soccer Globalization through the Eyes of Soccer One indisputable aspect of modernity is that as time has progressed, the world has become more and more connected in all imaginable ways. This aspect of modern society is termed globalization, and it has a large impact on how the world operates. Observing and understanding the development and integration of soccer in various societies proffers insight as to how the sport has aided in the increasing globalization of the world within the past century. These effects of globalization can first be seen in the international efforts around the world of soccer. Globalization can be divided into political, cultural and economic interactions. Examples of both the political and the cultural impacts of soccer can be found in France and its recent history, whereas a consequence of economic globalization and its ties to soccer can best be seen in Asia. The history of soccer at the international level connects heavily with the idea of globalization. Globalization, in essence, is the interaction, collaboration, and sometimes even conflict, between people of different nations; soccer embodies this idea heavily. For instance, in 1904, seven European nations founded the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), creating the foundation for the behemoth of an organization that it is today (McMahon 11/8/2016). It s located in the interior of the North American Plate, far away from plate boundaries where earthquakes usually occur. But the area has seen some notable seismic events most recently, the 2011 magnitude 5.8 earthquake near Mineral, Virginia that shook the nation s capital. Now scientists report in a new study a likely explanation for this unusual activity: pieces of the mantle under this region have been periodically breaking off and sinking down into the Earth. This thins and weakens the remaining plate, making it more prone to slipping that causes earthquakes. The study authors conclude this process is ongoing and likely to produce more earthquakes in the future. At first, they thought the thick, old rocks could be remnants of ancient tectonic plates. But the shapes and locations of the thick and thin regions suggested a different explanation: through past rifting and accretion, areas of the North American Plate have become more dense and were pulled downward into the mantle through gravity. At certain times, the densest parts broke off from the plate and sank into the warm asthenosphere below. The asthenosphere, being lighter and more buoyant, surged in to fill the void created by the missing pieces of mantle, eventually cooling to become the thin, young rock in the images. The researchers concluded this process is likely what causes earthquakes in this otherwise stable region: when the pieces of the mantle break off, the plate above them becomes thinner and more prone to slip along ancient fault lines. • 20. Infertility In The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood Infertility is the incapability or failure conceive after one year of unprotected sexual intercourse or due to an impairment a person s capacity to reproduce either as an individual or with his/her partner. While infertility can cause issues in men and women, women are more susceptible to having issues conceiving naturally. 1 in 8 women (or 12% of married couples) have trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy (2006 2010 National Survey of Family Growth, CDC). When there are issues in these stages, infertility is diagnosed and examined by a doctor therefore, making it hard to conceive a baby naturally. Throughout this paper, I will explain three common causes of infertility in females like endometriosis, sexual transmitted diseases, and poor nutrition. In the story The Handmaid s Tale, by Margaret Atwood, women are infertile because of pollution, STD s, and radiation. If in fact, radiation caused the women of Gilead to be infertile it could possible because the radiation caused a chemical or hormonal imbalance. With that being said, the world we live in today, the leading causes of infertility in the U.S. is endometriosis. Infertile women are 6 to 8 times more likely to have endometriosis than fertile women (Verkauf BS). In 1984, Common Cause petitioned the Commission for stricter rules regarding soft money allocation, hoping to close the loophole. In the story, The Chase by Annie Dillard, a young girl, Annie, grows up in a town where being a girl didn t affect how she grew up. Furthermore, the prevalence of heart failure in patients with DM is between 10% and 22%; this is four times higher than the general population. Controlling blood glucose has been widely accepted as a method to reduce risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular events and new onset heart failure; although this observational relationship exists, no evidence from randomized controlled trials illustrates that improved glycemic control modifies risk. Many of the antihyperlipidemic agents, namely thiazolidinediones, dual peroxisome proliferator activated receptor agonists, sulfonylureas, and insulin may cause adverse events such as increased plasma volume, exacerbation of heart failure, dysregulation of myocardial metabolism, and worsening of left ventricular function; therefore, a clinical concern exists with prescribing agents that may lead to morbidity and mortality. The style of narration that Fitzgerald brought into this book is a unique concept. The story is being told by a character that has not and is not always been with Gatsby. The use of dialogue and recounting of previous tales are used to further the storyline. Throughout the novel the narrator recites the story in both first and third person. This suggests that Nick does not always see what is happening with Gatsby, which in turn skews his telling of the story. The International Standard ISO 14040 described the levels of an LCA as follows: Goal and scope definition Inventory analysis Impact assessment Interpretation of results Figure 7.1 Phases of a LCA study (ISO, 2006) 7.1 Life cycle assessment and micro CHP systems There are only a few studies at present that focus on LCA of SOFC implemented systems (Staffell Green 2012; Giannopoulos Founti 2011a; Pehnt 2001; Pöschl et al. 2010; Patterson et al. 2011; Lunghi et al. 2004). • 44. Arguments Against Universal Health Care In the United States many issues seem to arise during times of struggle and what some consider unfairness. One of these being the topic of health care. As this problem popped up so did some solutions did as well. One of these being a universal health care. That to some would seem to get rid of all this unfair health care problem all together. However, others say that with a universal health care, the costs would rise and the quality could rapidly degrade. Both of these sides show very true factual evidence for their supporting claims. As many people had supposed for quite a while now is the idea of a universal health care, an idea of which is to give healthcare to all in a nation regardless if they pay for it or not. To some it would completely and utterly get rid of all these bad incidents happening to many whom do not have health care. It also would make it more equal, and instead of some getting health care, everyone would have healthcare. There would be no need for any of these health problems most poor and some middle class people have to face. Instead there would be health care for every person in the United States. This idea would be highly beneficial to the poor and the ones who don t have healthcare or simply cannot afford it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many who do not favor universal health care have some really valid and truthful points as to why it would be a bad idea. As said the people who already have health care fear that the quality of care would degrade and would make care quality worse. Others find it unfair to have to pay for others who simply are too lazy or inconsiderate to work to get their own health care. As harsh it that may sound it is considered true and would affect all those who already do pay for healthcare in a negative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Soil Music Analysis How does Dirt Music articulate the main concepts which foregrounds your personal reading? Tim Winton s novel Dirt Music explores universal experiences and the fragility of the human condition, enabling the extrapolation of many personal readings due to its textual integrity. A personal reading foregrounds self imposed solitude catalysed by paralysis from grief and traumatic events, which results in emotional suppression and deterioration of identity. Post modern globalisation exacerbates such alienation to marginalise non conformists by preventing fulfilling human connections. Thus, painful cathartic processes are required to resolve the detriments of disconnection through immersion into restorative landscapes to confront the past and heal. Trauma can lead to an individual s desire for isolation from the physical world as a coping mechanism to medicate grief and loss. Tim Winton s novel Dirt Music portrays the healing story of Georgie and Lu who painfully confront their pasts to reinvigorate life. Solitude imposed by the oblivion of virtuality is articulated when Georgie swims with the dog by the metaphor and emotional adjectives, she lay back in the water, wishing some portal would open, that she might click on some dopey icon and proceed safely, painlessly, without regret or memory, highlighting the artificial suppression of emotions as alleviation from the debilitating consequences of grief. Moreover, disconnection as a protective barrier against loss is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Relevance of the Literature of Renaissance In the... The Relevance of the Literature of Renaissance In the Twenty First Century In many ways the age of Renaissance was similar to the times we live in. It was the beginning of the modern era which saw a revolution in almost every aspect of life: living became prosperous for the average people, a new money based economy was being built. Geniuses were producing scientific inventions which were improving the quality of life. The printing press created a media revolution. It was the epoch of an immense increase in knowledge of the world, the time of far reaching voyages of exploration leading to India, the New World, Far East and Egypt to seek new worlds for gold, for praise, for glory , as Sir Walter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why does Macbeth decide to murder Duncan and why is he not satisfied with his high social position? Because his problem is that he is too ambitious. He wants to become king and he refers to that yearning as ambition: I have no spur To prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition, which o erleaps itself And falls on the other. Macbeth is fascinated with the idea of being a king but he is also aware of the disastrous price he will have to pay. He suffers a powerful tension between his desire and his moral sense. But once his imagination shows him the possibility, he is not able to shrug the desire off. It is one of Lady Macbeth s functions to keep this vision alive, when she taunts him to act in response to his desires and urges him to be more of a man. She cannot be blamed for his actions though, as he freely chooses to kill Duncan, and even before committing the crime he knows what consequences this deed will bring. At the same time, he cannot live with what he has done and remain the same person. The killing is continued, bringing even greater suffering on Macbeth as he tries to remove the moral distress. We witness his gradual dehumanization when he continues to murder in order to get peace of mind, but instead he loses everything life has to offer: To morrow, and to morrow, and to morrow, Creeps in this ... • 47. Carl Joyner Spoke To Analysis Last Friday we had the pleasure of being spoke to by Carl Joyner who is the CEO, Founder and President of Triose. One thing that was interesting about his presentation was that he didn t talk much about his company or any jobs he had. He focused mainly on his philosophy, determination and personal story. He started with a simple but meaningful message that has inspired him all throughout his life. There s a better way to do it . He claimed that this little message is what powered him to be successful and innovative in the healthcare arena. He talked of his time at Penske and how they changed their supply chain to maximize efficiency and reach more consumers. Next, he covered the Dot Com revolution and how it influenced his experience in the business world. I found that he was very informative, straight forward and held nothing back. Carl Joyner truly inspired me with his talk and I am grateful that he gave such a good presentation for I learned many things. He inspired me to study myself and know what I am capable of before diving into some new endeavor. This is a very smart and safe way to operate because you know the flaws and perks contained in yourself. I think that was his best point and my biggest take away.
