Subclinical Hypothyroidism In Mammals
The thyroid gland is prone to several distinct problems, some of which are extremely common.
These problems can be broken down into those concerning the production of hormone (too much, or
too little), those due to increased growth of the thyroid, causing compression of important neck
structures or simply appearing as a mass in the neck[1]. Subclinical hypothyroidism is diagnosed
when person has: No symptoms or mild symptoms of hypothyroidism, a mildly high thyroid
stimulating hormone (TSH) level, and a normal thyroxine (T4) level[2]. Subclinical hyperthyroidism
is defined by low or undetectable serum thyroid stimulating hormone levels, with normal free
thyroxine and total or free triiodothyronine (T3) levels[3]. People with subclinical hyperthyroidism

White fat cells secrete many proteins acting as adipokines(cytokines secreted by adipose tissue)
such as resistin, adiponectin, leptin and Apelin[5]. Adiponectin is a 244 amino acid long protein.
There are four distinct regions of adiponectin. The first is a short signal sequence that targets the
hormone for secretion outside the cell; next is a short region that varies between species; the third
is a 65 amino acid region with similarity to collagenous proteins; the last is a globular domain[6].
Adiponectin has divers metabolic effect such as: glucose regulation (decreased gluconeogenesis
increased glucose uptake), fatty acid oxidation(ОІ oxidation, triglyceride clearance)[7, 8], insulin
sensitivity, weight loss and control of energy metabolism[9]. Interleukin 6 (IL 6) is an interleukin
that acts as both a pro inflammatory cytokine and an anti inflammatory myokine[10]. IL 6 is
secreted by T cells and macrophages to stimulate immune response[11], in muscle and fatty tissue,
IL 6 stimulates energy mobilization that leads to increased body

Summary Of Letter From Birmingham Jail By Elizabeth Costello
For almost any right movement, or important period of time, in the history of the world, there are
readings that will correlate with these movements. For example, during the Civil Rights Movement
there was Letter from Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King Jr., for the feminism movement,
there was Riot Grrrl Manifesto, and so many more important readings that go along with important
movements. These readings all have one common thing in common, they call for action in some
part of the movement. In The Lives of Animals by J.M. Coetzee, there are some points made by
Elizabeth Costello, the main character of the novella that could be used to represent the views that
this group believes in. Elizabeth Costello is a vegetarian, which she strongly... Show more content

Reincarnation is the belief that after one dies they will be reborn into another living being.
Looking at Costello s beliefs from this standpoint, Doniger argues that the Hindus for a while
believed in not eating meat because they had the possibility of being reborn as what they were
eating (i.e. a cow, a pig). Since she looked at it from this viewpoint, it is reasonable to believe
that it is odd for people to be eating what they could become in the future, and they will be spited
for doing so. Along with becoming an animal that they have eaten in their previous life, these
people would eventually become food for other people, and this is where the belief in karma kicks

Class C Airspace
There was no need for airspace regulation in the US up until 1903 when the Wright brothers began
the modern age of air flight with a homemade aircraft. Then in 1905, the work of the Wright
brothers accumulated into the first practical aircraft that and subsequent improvements that allowed
aviation technology to develop into commercial aircraft as well as war capable planes which were
used in World War I.
Early aviation was quite dangerous as a result of no advanced navigational technologies or
automated flight systems. A great deal of human error was possible with these early aircraft.
During these times, pilots flew close enough to the ground so that they could tell where they were
going by using roadways and railways. This sort of primitive ... Show more content on

A class C airspace must have met a basic physical infrastructure of a control tower and a radar
controlled approach system. The altitude limit for class C airspace is usually 4000 ft above the
airport. The overarching shelf like space has an upper and lower region, each with a radius of 10
miles and 20 miles, respectively. Although prior authorization/permission is not needed, aircraft that
want to enter class C airspace must establish radio communication with local air traffic control
prior to entering the airspace or be faced with trespassing. Aircraft pilots wishing to enter this
area do not need special certification but a speed limit of 230 mph must be obeyed below the
altitude of 2500 feet and the immediate area surrounding class C airspace. Pilots must be willing
to follow commands from ATC including requests not to enter the airspace or to vacate the
airspace. Class C airspace designation is only to be effective while the control tower and radar
controlled approach system are active. Outside of these hours, the airspace becomes Class D or E
airspace depending on if the approach control is closed or the tower is

Abstract
Writing has always been regarded as playing a prominent role in learning a second language. The
purpose of this research was to investigate the difficulties and challenges facing students in writing
and spelling, the factors causing these difficulties and how to overcome these challenges.
A total of 30 female students from three different female secondary schools in the Al Kharj city
participated in the study, and 6 teachers teaching the English language for secondary levels with
different teaching experiences. Questionnaires were used to gather information from the
participants. The overall results demonstrated the students negative views towards writing. The
findings revealed that students have problems in writing, especially in language use (grammar).
The major findings demonstrated students awareness of the importance of writing and their needs
to develop the skill of writing. The study suggests some practical methods in order to cope with
writing difficulties.

What Is The Theme Of Rudali By Mahashweta Dali
Introduction
Mahashweta Devi is an extraordinary woman who has written, worked and fought for the
marginalised tirelessly for the past six decades. She is a strange mix of an activist and a writer
who has carried both duties fiercely all her life. Away from the spotlight, she keeps working for the
welfare and betterment of those whom the media and mainstream conveniently keep forgetting. Her
writing is disturbing because it shows the reader her or his own true face.
She is certainly as a noted critic puts it one of the most important writers writing in India today.
Much more can be said of Mahashweta Devi. She stands with few equals among today s Asian
writers in the dedication and directness with which she has turned writing in to a form ... Show more

Rudali is one of the haunting stories that come from remote villages in Rajasthan. Sanichari is a
beautiful girl born in lower caste and her life is full of sufferings because of lower caste, poor
finances, lost parents, drunken parents and mischievous son. In her old age she has become like a
stone who doesn t complain and does nt weep. Even a sharp eye drop that brings that brings
artificial tears in her eyes.
Her mother, an old professional Rudali, lives with her for couple of days but does nt tell her that
she is her morn. She suggests her to become a fellow Rudali with her. But the problem is
Sanichari can t weep. When Sanichari s mom dies, she comes to know that she is her mother.
Sanichari s tears come back to her eyes after long years and she becomes a famous Rudali taking
over her mother s profession. The short story Rudali is a heart wrenching tale written by Bengali
author and Magsaysay award recipient Mahashweta Devi. The title of the story refers to a class of
women called Rudalis (professional mourners) who are called to cry at funerals of upper caste
men.Rudali records the transformation of Sanichari from a mere widow to a woman who is

The Father Of Feminism In Madame Bovary
Flaubert is presented in the history of literature as the father of realism. I myself am Madame
Bovary . In his fabulous novel Madame Bovary he was able to metamorphose himself into a
woman. The work has revealed Flaubert s narcissism, his onanism, his idealism, his solitude, his
dependence, his feminity, his passivity (Sartre 15). The protagonist of Flaubert s Madame Bovary, is
a nineteenth century romantic woman, who dreamt futilely of escaping from a life that has
become a prison to her. She has got a highly romanticised view of the world and craves beauty,
passion and wealth. The first glimpse that we have of Emma is through Charles eyes. Flaubert
creates a fragmentary and progressive portrait of Emma, the whiteness of her nail, her deep black
eyes, and her full lips. She was soaked and whipped by the men who took everything from her and
dipped her into the marshy grounds of adultery.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She found nothing in the gray flat country to devour her romantic spirit. It was in such a dry
situation that she meets Charles Bovary, who was a country doctor. She took him as her
celestial lover; man who excelled in manifold activities and who could initiate her into the
energies of passion and refinements of life. But she has been too late when she realized his
cowardice and docility. Her man idol soon scatters and she stands baffled in front of her eternal
dreams. Disillusioned and disgusted as she was, desperate and hopeless as she was, rush was to
an other world , may be adultery in a pejorative sense, but to her it was a key to her house of
dreams. In spite of being disenchanted she rather continues her wild search for real deity. Her
mounting hatred for Charles can be seen when she later observes ... his thick lips trembling, which
lend an added stupidity to his face. Even his back...was irritating to see. His frock coat seemed to

friends, but she had something else planned, (not towards Danny of course) but already their was
an off feeling in the air that Danny just couldn t catch on too. His thoughts blinded him, but I
think he finally considered that his own blindness lead him to his emotional breakdown. He even
says, Suddenly I had a powerful sensation of life. Not just of a good time. Of life. But, as I was

The About Insane Clown Posse
Since the early ninety s, a controversial Detroit rap group known as Insane Clown Posse have
boasted about torturous murder methods and brutal killings within their music. Within hours of the
release of their debut album The great malinko the Southern Baptist Convention criticized Disney
for signing the group after proclaiming ICP was the devil s music. Disney instantly dropped ICP
from the label and removed their album from stores. Soon after, homicide reports started to spread
with perpetrators proclaiming themselves as Juggalos (Insane Clown Possefans). The FBI listed
ICP as a dangerous gang, and, in many states, the group s live shows were cancelled. Despite their
music being banned in several countries and media outlets, this group continues to release music.
Once a year the group and its fans come together for what s known as The Gathering of the Juggalos
in Thornville, Ohio. I thought to infiltrate the gathering to gain insight on this homicidal culture
and hopefully develop a better understanding of how this all came to be.
Initially, my ride to the great state of Ohio was a pleasant scenic drive. Weaving in and out through
the Pennsylvania Poconos mountains, a refreshingly pleased feeling came over me thinking about
the events to come. It wasn t until after Pittsburgh that I started to notice some of the vehicles
beside me may have also been going to the gathering. Perhaps the fake blood stained hand print

Makena (hydroxyprogesterone caproate injection used to lower the risk of preterm birth), a baby
born at 25 weeks has a better rate of survival than the 22 or 23 weeks old. In U.S.A the ratio is 1:10

Essay On Whistleblower Protection Act
Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2012
Introduction
Often the debate arises of whether human beings are born with an innate sense of right from wrong
and most often the consensus is, yes. The later question might then be, what makes a person
question doing the right thing? In the reality of someone who may be labeled a whistleblower,
apprehension to report wrongdoings may reasonably come from fear of retaliation. Particularly
when the wrong doing is occurring within the federal government and/or secret intelligence
community. Who will stand up to these powers and what protection can policy afford those that
take the ultimate risk in doing the right thing by unveiling the crimes of waste, fraud, and abuse

Jerry Lewis Analysis
Citric of the critic a critical thought.
In both of the articles referring to Lewis neither make very good arguments in my opinion, which
is the point/goal of many critics: to gain (or at least appeal to) an audience that has their point of
views and to establish a reputation as a writer and a critic which develops a following and
somehow makes them qualified to tell their readers what is good and/or bad. Both articles take
the stance of stereotyping cultures and what they think when it comes to Jerry Lewis. Stereotyping
is a problem in the world, something which I feel is the point of many critics but does not sit well
with me. They take the time to watch a movie and offer their view point on the film, dissecting and

42) Who cares what other countries critics view films produced in other countries? If the French
like Lewis let them like Lewis, it s their choice and opinion. American critics were worried about
how the French perceived and stereotyped American s, undermine the presentation of a unified
male subject and thus the conventional Hollywood representation of Masculinity. (Selig 46)
How the French view American males during the time is not the fault of Lewis. His work was
appealing to the French (and many American movie goers) because he was making comedies to
lighten the mood of the times. From the information in both articles an argument for or against
Lewis got lost and became more about how American critics perceived the French interpretation
of Lewis as an auteur. That is the French were more impressed with Lewis because of his style in
presenting the topics within his films. American critics seemed to be appalled that Lewis was the
French s perception of what American male life was like. However, Is it ok that Americans think
of the French as all having berets, wearing black and white striped shirts, riding bikes with
baguettes in their basket? This is an American stereotype vs the French who may think all
American males are funny and stupid acting and will do anything for love and

Social Structure And Social Structures
Social structures are the most important aspects of human society. Social structure is the
foundation upon which human society is created from. Therefore, it is necessary that we
understand what social structures actually are. These structures are what organize the social
relationships and institutions within a society, making it possible for the existence of a society. As
a result, the question of how and why social structures matter are important in understanding how
social structures work. Therefore, social structures are important because they force us to take on
new perspectives in the analysis of everyday experiences, produce the social structures and
institutions that control us, analyze the manifest and latent functions they serve, observe the
objectivity of social reality and finally they allow for an intimate evaluation of ones self and
social position. Consequently, social structure is relevant in my daily life because it has forced
me to change how I look at myself and my own experiences and more importantly the power that
the historical context and its social structures exert on my personal consciousness. As a result,
Mills makes the argument that we are falsely led to believe that our current social position in
society is due to our own effort and doing. This argument reflects social reality and it is the result
of the social structures that are present in society, and the interplay between societal history and
biography. According to Mills, the ability to

Hotel On The Corner Of Bitter And Sweet Literary Analysis
Rebirth is an over arching theme in the book, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, written
by Jamie Ford. One of the main symbols of second rebirth is the ever present Oscar Holden
record. The records symbolizes not only Henry and Keiko s relationship, but how it can be
renewed. From when Henry and Keiko buy the record, to Henry finding it 40 years later, the
record always has a strong significance in the book. Though not the first mention of the Oscar
Holden record, the story of the vinyl started with Henry taking Keiko to the Black Elks Club. On
that night Oscar Holden dedicated song to them, and it became their song . Later, Keiko gave

Their old relationship could never be truly fixed, but they started a new one with the intact record.
The record, and Henry and Keiko s bond, was finally renewed in this meeting. The book, Hotel on

important aspect of the record s meaning is rebirth, but it also stands for second chances, love,
friendship, and of course, Henry and Keiko. In the end, Keiko and Henry are not the same people,
and their relationship is a new one, one that was waiting for all the years they were apart. The

When a statement of cash flow is viewed along with the other financial statements, it provides
information that enables users to evaluate the changes in net assets of an enterprise, its financial
structure including its liquidity and solvency and its ability to affect the amounts and timing of
cash flows in order to adapt to changing circumstances and opportunities.
Under the heading, Benefits of Cash Flow Information, the ministry of corporation affairs describes
that, Cash flow information is useful in assessing the ability of an organization to generate cash and
cash equivalents that enables users to develop models to assess and compare the present value of
the future cash flows of different companies (Benefits of Cash Flow Information, Government of
India). As a result of this the cash flow statement enhances the comparability of the reporting of
operating performance by different companies because it eliminates the effects of using different
accounting treatments for the same transactions and events. Consistency in financial statements
year over year plays a large part in accounting as it allows management to easily compare the
company s performance.
How does a statement of cash flow effect business managers and stakeholders?

The Epistemic Closure Principle By Edmund Gettier
Alexander Jerde Phil 312 10/20/2014
The Epistemic Closure Principle The Epistemic closure principle explains that knowledge can be
gained by the logically implied inferences between a predicate, based on past experience, and a
conclusion. By definition epistemic closure purports that we are justified in believing that our
logical inferences are true. Therefore, we can conclude that our past experience (predicate) is a
reason to believe a proposition. This principle has been used as the basis of various forms of
skeptical arguments against the traditional analysis and inductive/deductive reasoning. Such an
example was presented by Edmund Gettier, whose arguments question if we are justified in
believing our beliefs as knowledge. Also, Hume questioned if we can really trust inductive
/deductive reasoning. In the following I will argue that even though, Gettier s arguments hold some
truth, we are still caused to conclude that the epistemic closure is a logical necessity and true. The
epistemic closure principle states that knowledge can be gained by acceptance of predicates
logically implied relationship with their conclusions. Epistemic closure entails that, deductive and
logical reasoning are sound principles of reaching knowledge. Also that, a conclusion (proposition)
can be known then by understanding that a necessary logical or deductive inference between a
predicate and a conclusion exist. Epistemic closure also entails that we are justified

PTSD is a vast disorder, meaning that it does not have only one cause or treatment. The brain is
a complicated and unique part of the body and it can be affected by many different factors. When
evaluating the causes of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, it is easy to see that no two cases are
exactly the same, a group of people could go through the same event, hurricane Katrina, in New
Orleans, for example. Countless people were affected by Katrina, many of them in a similar and

with PTSD have a more difficult time understanding emotion. Because these subjects all had
PTSD from being mistreated as children this makes sense. It is more difficult to understand how
a person feels when they were not given care and attention as children. This study is odd because
of the specific field of PTSD chosen because this technically would not need to be about those

internal innovation and stability. In Steve Johnson s essay Myth of the Ant Queen, Johnson
describes a phenomena known as emergent behavior, large patterns of uncoordinated local actions
which is prevalent in systems with nonhierarchial roles (199). The concept of emergent behavior is
a useful, however inaccurate, means of categorizing a systems structure; a self organizing system
must have some origin or initial degree of coordination or organization in order to properly
function. Furthermore, Cathy Davidson s essay Project Classroom Makeover, challenges the
current educational paradigm with an administrative and societal call to action through the iPod
experiment.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, Davidson s educational experiments cannot be understood as examples of Johnson s
ideas of emergent behavior because of educators and not the students , abilities to maintain and
regulate the self preserving educational paradigm. However, her ideas will also fail to eliminate
hierarchial roles in the classroom...
A system s self organizing facade oftentimes disguises its ulterior motive of self preservation as a
form of emergent behavior. In Johnson s essay, he observes an ant colony that appears to think and
function in a nonhierarchial, self organizing format to serve their queen ant. However, the colony
functions in a genetically coordinated fashion, Their genes instruct them to protect their mother, the

Geoffrey Chaucer Research Paper
This is a story about an author with an unfinished story that survived the passage of time. I will
be discussing the life, the works, and the impact of Geoffrey Chaucer. Geoffrey Chaucer was
born in 1340, London, England. He is the son of John and Agnes de Copton Chaucer. Chaucer s
family were wine merchants. Chaucer s first job was as a page for Elizabeth, the countess of
Ulster. Elizabeth was the wife of Prince Lionel, the third son of Edward III.
Chaucer was in King Edward s army during early parts of the Hundred Years War in 1359.
Unfortunately he was captured during an unsuccessful siege of Rheims. Luckily the king
contributed to his ransom. By 1366, Chaucer married Philippa Pan, who was another courtier that

Chaucer is generally considered the father of English poetry, and The Canterbury Tales has been
required reading for countless students over the generations. The influence of his work on
generations of English language writers is undisputed. Some critics have worried that such wide
and shallow exposure of the reading public to Chaucer s work has diluted full appreciation for his
complex contribution to literature. Critic Derek Traversi says, The appreciation of Geoffrey Chaucer
has suffered a good deal in the past from his reputation as the Father of English poetry. It has
been easy to think of him as a naif, the possessor of a charming simplicity of outlook which tends
to convey itself, for a modern reader, through language considered picturesque or simply childish,
alternately quaint or redolent of innocence for readers who think of themselves as more
sophisticated and more psychologically complex. However, this view is not correct, Traversi
argues: His early poems show him engaged in exploring the possibilities of the English language
as an instrument for sophisticated literary creation. As poet William Blake put it, over four
hundred years after the book s first publication: Of Chaucer s characters, as described in his
Canterbury Tales, some of the names are altered by Time, but the Characters themselves for ever
remain unaltered and consequently they are the Physiognomies or lineaments of

Persuasive Essay About Sex Trafficking
Each year almost 800,000 women and young children are being trafficked across the borders.
This happens in public and private locations ( Sex ). Women and young girls all together make
up 98% of the victims of trafficking for sexual abuse. Sex trafficking is illegal in every country
in the world. Woman being held as sex slaves is the fastest growing criminal activity in the world
(Globa.). During sex trafficking; women or young girls are being forced by sex work. This can
be used for exchange for money or goods ( Sex ). Why would people do this to such innocent

Summary Of Jane Goodall s Memoir With Phillip Berman,...
Coming to Terms in Faith Jane Goodall s memoir with Phillip Berman, Reason for Hope talks about
how a women s journey to come to terms with faith through the experiences in Tanzania. Her
journey toward this goal started from her religious childhood, which led her with chimpanzees at
the Gombe Forest in Tanzania. By believing in her faith into traveling to Tanzania, Jane saw the
good in chimpanzees and humans and developed faith in them. When Jane was growing up, she
grew up in a religious family. From that she always been fascinated to become a martyr,
(Goodall 126) which is when a person chooses to die instead of denying a strongly held belief.
During World War II, she hated Joseph Stalin because he was controlling the communist country of
Russia. She wanted to support the Christians that are in Russia. Jane explains in her memoir
Reasons for Hope, This daydreaming made me come to terms with human brutality, suffering,
courage idealism and even faith. (Goodall 26). This childhood dream of being in the star role
helped her forget her worries about what she is going to do in the future. This is amazing for Jane
because not many people at her age that have the courage to step up for what they believe that is
right. Although Ms. Goodall realized the human brutality and suffering of humanity that also
included faith, this knowledge benefited her when she set foot in the African continent of Tanzania.

Education System in England
The education system in England

Pre school education
The pre school sector includes a patchwork quilt of places provided by state, voluntary and private
nurseries, childminders and playgroups available to children between the ages of two and five.
At the end of 2000 there were 937,000 pre school places available 264,000 in day nurseries,
353,000 in playgroups and other settings and 320,000 with childminders.
The government has promised to improve the quality of education available for this age group and
to increase the quantity of available places.
All four year olds are now promised a part time place of five morning or afternoon sessions per

But some parents have complained that reducing class sizes has worsened the problem of trying to
get places for their children in popular, over subscribed schools.
Test targets
The government has also set targets for levels of literary and numeracy, on the grounds that a child
who does not learn to read well and handle numbers early on runs the risk of falling further behind
in all subjects.
So, in England, by 2002: On average 80% of 11 year olds should be reaching the standard expected
for their age in English and 75% in maths.
In 2000, the equivalent figures were 75% (English) and 72% (maths).
There are also wide variations between local education authorities across England.
Since September 1998, all primary schools in England have been strongly recommended it is not
mandatory to devote at least an hour each day to literacy, with a similar daily numeracy session
from September 1999.
Secondary schools
In England, children must continue in full time education until they are 16 though now a majority
stay on after that.
The modernisation of the comprehensive system has been one of the key themes of the government
s campaign to raise standards in education.
In state sector secondary schools there has been increasing diversification, with the emergence of
beacon schools , specialist schools and the setting

Constitutional Act Of Confederation Analysis
At the second constitutional conference leading to Confederation the delegates discussed terms in
which lead to the Constitutional act of 1867. This act was further passed by The British Parliament
creating dominion of Canada at Confederation. This act provided union of three colonies; Nova
Scotia, Canadaand New Brunswick and placed a federal state with a parliamentary statement based
on Britain and the United Kingdom. Although the creating of Upper and Lower Canada was a
success its ridged colonial structures also set the stage for the rebellions in the two Canada s.

Theme Of Destruction In The Faerie Queene
Greed as an Excuse for Destruction in The Faerie Queene
Though the desire for excitement and adventure lives in everyone, even if the definition of such
things varies for every individual person, it is safe to say there are some who are more inclined to
achieve their desires rather than watch them pass by. This inclination is a driving force that can,
and often does, lead to disastrous or unnecessary outcomes. In watching Redcrosse in the first canto
of Edmund Spenser s, The Faerie Queene, it is seen that humankind can be selfish and
inconsiderate of who or what it may affect. So much so that a sheltered, nursing mother is
ultimately killed when all she was trying to do was protect herself and her young. In the end, it
was not the beast s fault for her and her young s peril; it is the fault of Redcrosse who, instead of
listening to the words of his companions and thinking through his next move carefully, decides to
act upon his greed and desire for fulfillment. This episode brings forth the idea that the error in a
person s ways is not brought out by an inability to decipher what they should do, but is otherwise
dangerously expelled by the conscious decision to ignore what is ethical and proper.
Throughout all the twists and turns trying to find their way back from whence they came, Una,
Redcrosse, and the dwarf stumble upon a path that brought them to a hollow cave, amid the
thickest woods (1.11.6 7). While Redcrosse does not know that the cave belongs to Errour at first,

Anatomy And Physiology That Affect Snakes
Snakes tend to differ significantly from other terrestrial vertebrates due to their lack of any
appendages. Although such a characteristic would appear to be of a significant disadvantage on
land, snakes have managed to secure themselves a variety of niches and adaptations. The
elongated body gave many snakes the ability to strangle their prey and easily inhabit aquatic and
nonaquatic environments alike. Some snakes have also been able to climb trees and managed to
out speed or compete with animals with limbs. The specific locomotion of snakes can thus be a
potentially important indicator of ecological differences between species [7]. Understanding the
ways that snakes move helps us understand the types of factors responsible for their form, while
giving insight into inventing machines and instruments that can use this motion for everyday use.
This paper will look at the specifics and varieties of snakelocomotion, while touching on some of
the factors like anatomy and physiology that affect snakes survival. Understanding the origins of
snakes and their iconic locomotion have been previously poorly understood [1]. Accurate
conclusions about the development of the snakes elongated, legless shape [were] hindered by the
relative lack of informative fossils of early stem snakes [1]. Despite this, questions concerning the
origin of their anatomy are usually narrowed down to two different environmental influences: either
1) aquatic life or 2) fossorial life. Both

The Star Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key in 1814. The instrumental song was
inspired by the British Bombing during the war of 1812. Over the years the Star Spangled Banner
has become a common tradition in Modern America that is played before almost every public

The Role Of Ambition In Macbeth
Macbeth is a Shakespearean play which shows how ambition drives a person s life and how
people are constantly driven by uncontrolled ambition to better their lives. In the play, regardless
of Lady Macbeth and the witches, Macbeth is responsible for his own downfall. He is driven by
ambition to be viewed as a better man in the country and to be in control of his own fate.
Uncontrolled ambition can easily turn into insanity; plans should be led through intelligence and
maturity in order to achieve personal success and stay true to one self. If Macbethhas had followed
his idea instead of his wife s and also erased out what the witches told him, he would not have

Soon after this quote Macbeth s ambition starts and also foreshadows his thoughts of being a king.
Macbeth compares light to the world around him, he does not want reality to see his inner desire.
Ultimately, we start to see Macbeth s different side such as cruelty and misery. Moreover, the
witches carry on giving him false apparition which built up his courage higher and higher.
Therefore, the witches played an enormous part in destroying Macbeth.
People should be ambitious in life to reach toward success, they should always seek to achieve
their personal goals for their own betterment, they should also plan for the unforeseen effects of
their operations, which otherwise could lead them the point where they end up losing. In
Shakespeare s play Macbeth displays all the traits of a tragic hero who is overwhelmed and
murdered because of his own covetous and self obsessed ambition. At the beginning of the play
Macbeth is brave and respected man, but as it goes along we start to see the reflection of his
inner desire. I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition, which o

he does not have a clear reason for killing the king except his unchecked ambition. Macbeth s

story because in the 5th line, this gender is called Strong, sensible, and fit, This stands out in the

controversial to the usual perspective of a woman since these adjectives are associated with a
man more than a woman. This exhibits that the typical views of what femininity is changed

masculinity but it is used in the poem to describe women. The poem also shows femininity to be

hard work of the woman is to be revered according to Pope. The imagery of not being caged or

Essay On The Woman Warrior
A typical warrior is a medieval knight in shining armor fighting for his life and homeland. Today,
the definition of what it means to be a warrior has become ambiguous. Often times, we view
those willing to sacrifice their lives for others soldiers, police officers, or firefighters as warriors.
Even expanded in this way, the warrior still has a connotation of physical bravery, masculine
strength, and unhindered confidence. However, the word warrior can have an entirely new
meaning when we use it in a literary context. It can be defined as a person who is simply fighting
for convictions and values that are morally and ethically right. As associated with women, some

Communication Apprehension And Learning Styles
I, am a very private person, as well as a student. As students we are faced with the ever present
threat of teachers who call on us even when our heads are down taking notes and our hands are

However while doing some research I came across an article written by Dr. Travis L. Russ
professor of Communications and Media Management at Fordham University in New York about
communication apprehension and learning styles. In this article Dr. Russ says that there is a
coloration between peoplewith high communication apprehension and learning better from

prefer to do direct experiments (Russ, 2012). When I share things that I am thinking there is

Hence these changes were not the outcome of internal changes but of external changes.
Deregulation has opened up new opportunities for banks to increase revenues by diversifying into
investment banking, insurance, credit cards, mortgage financing, depository services,
securitization, etc. Now all the banks have started with the concept of multi channels, like ATMs,
credit cards, debit cards, telephone/mobile banking, internet banking, call centers, etc. The role of
banking is redefined from a mere financial intermediary to service provider of various financial
services under one roof acting like a financial supermarket. International Journal of Management

change in Indian Banking: Underlying forces for change Developments in communication systems,
coupled with blurring of differences between banks and non banks and globalization have
aggravated the competitive environment. Technology became a key differentiator for the new
private sector banks. The technological superiority helped these private sector banks to have upper

The Cedar Bend Trip Essay Essay
When I heard about the Cedar Bend trip, the first thought that came into my mind was that I
have to avoid this trip. I tried a lot of things to get away from this trip, but every person. But now
I think about i wish i can go again. All the activities, songs, scary stories. Everything we did would
be memorable forever. The bus ride, cutting the chickens, makesulters, ice cream ,to say goodbye

and reading the description about Cedar Bend. Now I am so glad I went and didn t back out. I
never had experience camping, being in the woods, or learning how to survive. I believe going to
cedar bend was one of the best decision I made.
On the way to Cedar Bend I wasn t that excited . I was nervous and card to the whole trip. How
will the people be, how will everyone react. I had a lot of different stories from friends good and
bad. Some Said the food doesn t taste good. The dogs are not friendly, the place where we stay is
comfortable. But going there I realized everything was wrong. It depends on the person point of
view and how their comfort level stand. Some people appetize the hard work of everyone and how
welcome everyone was.
I learned that I can adapt to any environment or situation if I have support from my friends. I was
very scared, even uncomfortable at first. I wondered if I would be able to fit in with my core
group? Then when we were in the valley, Liv gave us

Apparently on the day he fell ill, Litvinenko had met with the associates and had drank tea from a
teapot later found to be radioactive with Polonium 210, a very toxic metal. British officials
accused both men of poisoning Litvinenko, yet both men denied the claims. 2. The Murder Of

Civil War Rape Essay
The conditions and goals of war often facilitate and, in some cases, necessitates the conditions for
rape. The conditions of rape are often indistinguishable from those of war because rape is used as
an expression of victory, retaliation against other countries or ethnic groups and as a means to
satisfy weary troops. Before beginning, it is essential to establish what the main goals of wars are;
under the conditions that rapeis condoned. In some instances war is waged as a method of
retaliation; such as the Soviet counterattack after the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union; war can
be used as an expression of victory or superiority in the case of Nazi Germany and its ideals of a
pure Aryan race. Moreover, rape can be potentially used as a means... Show more content on

The fact remains that this is a product of misogyny in their cultures we still see in contemporary
society. Due to this, women are viewed as the paragons and upholders of their societies virtues, as
biological reproducers of national and ethnic groups, agents for transmitting national culture and
ideology, cultural symbols of purity and national housekeepers. This is in stark contrast to men who
are illustrated as protectors of their nation s honour and as warriors; in retrospect, war is waged to
humiliate and, in some cases, destroy the foundation of the opposing nation s society. Men, the
primary defenders of their nation in hindsight are expendable, while they may die, their culture and
society will live on through their women who will go on to transmit their genes and culture through
the children they bear. Because women represent the three pillars of the home and not one; it is
more efficient to target women, not only to demoralise the opposing enemy troops, but to
consequently change the genetic make up and otherwise culture of the society the women live in.
This act of humiliation not only scars the women and emasculates the men, but their society as a
whole. Hence, targeting women through rape, although grotesquely immoral highlights the
effectiveness of rape as a method in which to carry out wars closely affiliated with

The Fight For Physician Aid
The fight for Physician aid in Dying s nation wide legalization. Ever since Dr. Kevorkian or
Doctor Death drove his car around the united states assisting over 40 patients to take the own
lives physician aid in dying has been a topic which has sparked controversy (DiManno). Although
his actions did receive large amounts of negative feed back it did lead much of the population to
the question of whether or not it should be legal for an individual to have medical assistance to
take their life in certain situations such as terminal illness or chronic physical pain. Through the
years this idea has adopted the name physicianaid in dying. Personally I believe that we should,
because when it comes to our body we should have 100% control over what we choose to do with
it. Even if that is choosing to take our own life in times of great physical pain and suffering.
Although physician aid in dying is already legal in five states, I believe that it should be legal in
the remainder of the states in the United States. While I know that the thought of a doctor
prescribing a lethal dosage of a medication to help a patient to take their life can be disturbing to
some people it should not be illegal. If that were the case eventually it could be illegal to get
tattoos or have hair cuts that may be disturbing to some people. The way I see it is that if PAD is
really what someone wants it should be an option to them no matter what state they live in. The
thought of someone suffering from a

Bally Total Fitness Marketing Audit Essay
Bally Total Fitness Marketing Audit
Bally Total Fitness is the largest, and only nationwide, commercial operator of fitness centers. Bally
s has approximately four million members and 420 facilities across the United States and around
the globe. (ballyfitness.com, 2004) A marketing audit was performed on the company in order to
assess their total marketing program to see what was and was not working to increase business. The
following will summarize key findings of environmental aspects and marketing. Finally, any
recommended actions that may be considered for future planning will be discussed. The
environmental aspects that were considered for the Bally Total Fitness audit were demographics,

Bally Total Fitness mainly targets the 18 49 year old range with a male to female ration of 1:1.
The average household income of their members is $52,000 a year. 76% of Bally members are
Internet enabled. (ballyfitness.com, 2004) According to the International Health, Racquet and
Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), there are approximately 30 million adult members of fitness
centers in the United States. By the year 2010, this number is likely to grow to 50 million. This is
due in large part to the increasing awareness amongst the population of the importance of exercise
to promote health and wellness. This trend coupled with the major demographic shifts should
produce an increased demand for fitness services and products. Although Bally Total Fitness
mainly targets the 18 49 year old range, knowledge of a major trend should be brought into
consideration. The graying of America is a trend in the United States where the oldest segments
of the population (45 65+) are growing fastest. (Churchill, Jr. and Peter 296) Since people s needs
and tastes changes as they get older, Bally Total Fitness can capitalize on the Baby Boomers. More
of this will be discussed in the Markets segment of the audit. MARKETS
According to an IHRSA trend report, there are three major milestones that may be of major interest

A Letter To Harvey Milk Summary
The topic of the Holocaust is a broad and gruesome one; maybe it is because of the horrors that
happened that people still write about it, to try to understand what happened, and how it did.
Regardless, Elie Wiesel explains why he, as a Holocaust survivor, writes within his essay Why I
Write: Making No Become Yes . He writes that perhaps it is ...in order not to go mad. or to touch
the bottom of madness. These two possible reasons are quite different from each other, yet they
share a similar topic, this is similarly true about Elie Wiesels essay and Harry Weinberg s short
story A Letter to Harvey Milk The similarities and differences in these two works shows the

Subjugation Of Spain Essay
The purpose of Muslim subjugation of Spain may still be unknown, but it is irrefutable that it is a
part of Spain s history, and has affected the country and its history, maybe for the better, maybe for
the worse. For a long period of history three centuries in much of the country and eight centuries in
the last Andalusian strongholds Spainwas almost completely dominated by the Moslems. Currently,
the majority of Spanish Muslims are former citizens of Islamic countries that have immigrated to
Spain, or Spanish citizens who have converted to Islam. This is because Islam was almost
eradicated due to the expulsion of the Moors in 1609 and the prohibition of the practice of Islam.
But the effacing of the religion doesn t imply that Spain hasn t... Show more content on

The native Spaniards were very submissive, so conquering the lion s share of the country, as well
as a large sum of Portugal, was simple for them. There is a traditional story, wherein 711, an
oppressed Christian chief, Julian, went to Musa ibn Nusair, who was the governor of Northern
Africa, and pleaded for help against Roderick, the Visigoth ruler of Spain. This story is not
universally believed; it is undoubtedly true that Tariq invaded Spain, but it is more likely that the
invasion was for expansion purposes, rather than in assistance to the Christians. The Muslims easily
defeated the Visigothic Army, and killed Roderick, the Visigoth King, in battle. After the first
victory, the Muslims continued on to conquer most of Spain and Portugal with almost no plight,
and almost no demurring from the natives. The Hispano Visigoths couldn t counterattack because
they still hadn t joined the two types of people that made up their community. This is why the
Moorish Leaders Tarik and Musa were able to conquer all of the Iberian Peninsula, minus a few
Christian areas. The landowners that they confronted were easily submissive, giving up
Catholicism in order to keep their possessions. By the year 720, Spain was mainly under Muslim

China s Rise and the US Japan s Respond
China s rising has become predominant issue after more than two decade since it opened it
economy for the world capital. China has become center of economic growth in the region since it
started to become economically integrated to globalized world. Concurrently with that
development, China military capability grows to become more powerful. In 2013 SIPRI reported
that China s military spending had reached $188 million, which means steadily increase of 7.4 per
cent from 2012, and doubled from expense in 2004 (Deutsche PresseВAgentur 2014).

The end of the Cold War that created peaceful space and flourishing Chinese economic growth
influenced the speed of military modernization and shifted its focus on protection of maritime
resources and defending of territorial issue in the south and southeast (Ross 2009: 55; Storey 2008:
115).
Meanwhile in southern part of its territory several maritime dispute disputes began to attract
China s attention. During early decade of 1990s, China had just ratified United Nations
Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS 1982) in 1992. The ratification is going to
allow China to claim 200 nautical miles as its exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and could exploit
oil and gas located in South China Sea basin. Beside that, the growing tension because of Taiwan s
independence in 1990 had significantly altered China focus to the South and modernization its
military force. Geopolitical nature of the potential maritime conflict in the south had forced China
to modernize its naval power (Storey 2008: 115).
This could be considered as changing posture of China s military capability from cumbersome
continental power towards more modern and dynamic naval power in responding future political
and military dispute in the southern part of its territory (Ross 2009: 56). China s military
modernization that aims to built capability to project its power

Essay about Cost Accounting Analysis
3.0 Variance Analysis
3.1 Flexible Budget Variance Analysis
In Barnes Scuba Diving case, the main comparison for the flexible budget variance analysis would
be between the actual results and flexible budget. Static budget would not be useful for this
comparison due to the different sales unit output which may result in a misleading and inaccurate
result comparison.
With reference to the Flexible Budget Section attached in Annex X, Flexible Budget Variancefor
Revenues was identified to be a favourable variance of $50,400 due to the fact that there was an
increase of 216 participants on top of the budgeted 1800 participants and also an additional

This resulted in more resources to be consumed, an additional 504 (25%x2, 016 units) manuals cost
to be incurred, which resulted in the unfavourable quantity variance ($6,048). An actual cost of
$4788 (504 units X$2.50) was incurred due to the manuals being replaced free of charge. Barnes
had to bear responsibility to replace them free of charge as the low quality manuals were due to
Barnes decision to use cheaper printer. In this case, Barnes was still able to absorb the cost of
replacing the manuals free of charge as the total savings from using the cheaper printer is more than
the total cost of replacing. In the long run, Barnes may also have to consider if customers value of
this manual, which was not mention in the case. If customer does not value the manual and Barnes
can keep up with the cost of replacement, then using the cheaper printer may ultimate be an
advantage to Barnes. This would be the trade off that Barnes would have to consider for using
cheaper quality printer.
3.2.2.3 Dive Logbooks
The unfavourable price ($1854.40) and quantity ($2419.20) variances of dive logbooks were
caused mainly by the additional 302 logbooks being consumed and increase cost of $0.80 per

the improve quality of the logbook. This

  • 3. Summary Of Letter From Birmingham Jail By Elizabeth Costello For almost any right movement, or important period of time, in the history of the world, there are readings that will correlate with these movements. For example, during the Civil Rights Movement there was Letter from Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King Jr., for the feminism movement, there was Riot Grrrl Manifesto, and so many more important readings that go along with important movements. These readings all have one common thing in common, they call for action in some part of the movement. In The Lives of Animals by J.M. Elizabeth Costello is a vegetarian, which she strongly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reincarnation is the belief that after one dies they will be reborn into another living being. Looking at Costello s beliefs from this standpoint, Doniger argues that the Hindus for a while believed in not eating meat because they had the possibility of being reborn as what they were eating (i.e. a cow, a pig). Since she looked at it from this viewpoint, it is reasonable to believe that it is odd for people to be eating what they could become in the future, and they will be spited for doing so. Along with becoming an animal that they have eaten in their previous life, these people would eventually become food for other people, and this is where the belief in karma kicks in, what comes around goes ... Then in 1905, the work of the Wright brothers accumulated into the first practical aircraft that and subsequent improvements that allowed aviation technology to develop into commercial aircraft as well as war capable planes which were used in World War I. Early aviation was quite dangerous as a result of no advanced navigational technologies or automated flight systems. A great deal of human error was possible with these early aircraft. • 9. The Father Of Feminism In Madame Bovary Flaubert is presented in the history of literature as the father of realism. I myself am Madame Bovary . In his fabulous novel Madame Bovary he was able to metamorphose himself into a woman. The work has revealed Flaubert s narcissism, his onanism, his idealism, his solitude, his dependence, his feminity, his passivity (Sartre 15). The protagonist of Flaubert s Madame Bovary, is a nineteenth century romantic woman, who dreamt futilely of escaping from a life that has become a prison to her. She has got a highly romanticised view of the world and craves beauty, passion and wealth. The first glimpse that we have of Emma is through Charles eyes. But she has been too late when she realized his cowardice and docility. Her man idol soon scatters and she stands baffled in front of her eternal dreams. Disillusioned and disgusted as she was, desperate and hopeless as she was, rush was to an other world , may be adultery in a pejorative sense, but to her it was a key to her house of dreams. In spite of being disenchanted she rather continues her wild search for real deity. The About Insane Clown Posse Since the early ninety s, a controversial Detroit rap group known as Insane Clown Posse have boasted about torturous murder methods and brutal killings within their music. Within hours of the release of their debut album The great malinko the Southern Baptist Convention criticized Disney for signing the group after proclaiming ICP was the devil s music. Disney instantly dropped ICP from the label and removed their album from stores. Soon after, homicide reports started to spread with perpetrators proclaiming themselves as Juggalos (Insane Clown Possefans). The FBI listed ICP as a dangerous gang, and, in many states, the group s live shows were cancelled. Despite their music being banned in several countries and media outlets, this group continues to release music. Once a year the group and its fans come together for what s known as The Gathering of the Juggalos in Thornville, Ohio. I thought to infiltrate the gathering to gain insight on this homicidal culture and hopefully develop a better understanding of how this all came to be. In the reality of someone who may be labeled a whistleblower, apprehension to report wrongdoings may reasonably come from fear of retaliation. Both articles take the stance of stereotyping cultures and what they think when it comes to Jerry Lewis. Stereotyping is a problem in the world, something which I feel is the point of many critics but does not sit well with me. From the information in both articles an argument for or against Lewis got lost and became more about how American critics perceived the French interpretation of Lewis as an auteur. That is the French were more impressed with Lewis because of his style in presenting the topics within his films. • 16. Social Structure And Social Structures Social structures are the most important aspects of human society. Social structure is the foundation upon which human society is created from. Therefore, it is necessary that we understand what social structures actually are. These structures are what organize the social relationships and institutions within a society, making it possible for the existence of a society. As a result, the question of how and why social structures matter are important in understanding how social structures work. Therefore, social structures are important because they force us to take on new perspectives in the analysis of everyday experiences, produce the social structures and institutions that control us, analyze the manifest and latent functions they serve, observe the objectivity of social reality and finally they allow for an intimate evaluation of ones self and social position. Consequently, social structure is relevant in my daily life because it has forced me to change how I look at myself and my own experiences and more importantly the power that the historical context and its social structures exert on my personal consciousness. As a result, Mills makes the argument that we are falsely led to believe that our current social position in society is due to our own effort and doing. This argument reflects social reality and it is the result of the social structures that are present in society, and the interplay between societal history and biography. According to Mills, the ability to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Epistemic Closure Principle By Edmund Gettier Alexander Jerde Phil 312 10/20/2014 The Epistemic Closure Principle The Epistemic closure principle explains that knowledge can be gained by the logically implied inferences between a predicate, based on past experience, and a conclusion. By definition epistemic closure purports that we are justified in believing that our logical inferences are true. Therefore, we can conclude that our past experience (predicate) is a reason to believe a proposition. This principle has been used as the basis of various forms of skeptical arguments against the traditional analysis and inductive/deductive reasoning. Such an example was presented by Edmund Gettier, whose arguments question if we are justified in believing our beliefs as knowledge. Also, Hume questioned if we can really trust inductive /deductive reasoning. In the following I will argue that even though, Gettier s arguments hold some truth, we are still caused to conclude that the epistemic closure is a logical necessity and true. The epistemic closure principle states that knowledge can be gained by acceptance of predicates logically implied relationship with their conclusions. Epistemic closure entails that, deductive and logical reasoning are sound principles of reaching knowledge. Also that, a conclusion (proposition) can be known then by understanding that a necessary logical or deductive inference between a predicate and a conclusion exist. Epistemic closure also entails that we are justified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Steve Johnson s essay Myth of the Ant Queen, Johnson describes a phenomena known as emergent behavior, large patterns of uncoordinated local actions which is prevalent in systems with nonhierarchial roles (199). The concept of emergent behavior is a useful, however inaccurate, means of categorizing a systems structure; a self organizing system must have some origin or initial degree of coordination or organization in order to properly function. Chaucer is generally considered the father of English poetry, and The Canterbury Tales has been required reading for countless students over the generations. The influence of his work on generations of English language writers is undisputed. Some critics have worried that such wide and shallow exposure of the reading public to Chaucer s work has diluted full appreciation for his complex contribution to literature. Critic Derek Traversi says, The appreciation of Geoffrey Chaucer has suffered a good deal in the past from his reputation as the Father of English poetry. It has been easy to think of him as a naif, the possessor of a charming simplicity of outlook which tends to convey itself, for a modern reader, through language considered picturesque or simply childish, alternately quaint or redolent of innocence for readers who think of themselves as more sophisticated and more psychologically complex. However, this view is not correct, Traversi argues: His early poems show him engaged in exploring the possibilities of the English language as an instrument for sophisticated literary creation. As poet William Blake put it, over four hundred years after the book s first publication: Of Chaucer s characters, as described in his Canterbury Tales, some of the names are altered by Time, but the Characters themselves for ever remain unaltered and consequently they are the Physiognomies or lineaments of ... Theme Of Destruction In The Faerie Queene Greed as an Excuse for Destruction in The Faerie Queene Though the desire for excitement and adventure lives in everyone, even if the definition of such things varies for every individual person, it is safe to say there are some who are more inclined to achieve their desires rather than watch them pass by. This inclination is a driving force that can, and often does, lead to disastrous or unnecessary outcomes. In watching Redcrosse in the first canto of Edmund Spenser s, The Faerie Queene, it is seen that humankind can be selfish and inconsiderate of who or what it may affect. So much so that a sheltered, nursing mother is ultimately killed when all she was trying to do was protect herself and her young. In the end, it was not the beast s fault for her and her young s peril; it is the fault of Redcrosse who, instead of listening to the words of his companions and thinking through his next move carefully, decides to act upon his greed and desire for fulfillment. This episode brings forth the idea that the error in a person s ways is not brought out by an inability to decipher what they should do, but is otherwise dangerously expelled by the conscious decision to ignore what is ethical and proper. Throughout all the twists and turns trying to find their way back from whence they came, Una, Redcrosse, and the dwarf stumble upon a path that brought them to a hollow cave, amid the thickest woods (1.11.6 7). Although such a characteristic would appear to be of a significant disadvantage on land, snakes have managed to secure themselves a variety of niches and adaptations. The elongated body gave many snakes the ability to strangle their prey and easily inhabit aquatic and nonaquatic environments alike. Some snakes have also been able to climb trees and managed to out speed or compete with animals with limbs. The specific locomotion of snakes can thus be a potentially important indicator of ecological differences between species [7]. Understanding the ways that snakes move helps us understand the types of factors responsible for their form, while giving insight into inventing machines and instruments that can use this motion for everyday use. This paper will look at the specifics and varieties of snakelocomotion, while touching on some of the factors like anatomy and physiology that affect snakes survival. Understanding the origins of snakes and their iconic locomotion have been previously poorly understood [1]. Accurate conclusions about the development of the snakes elongated, legless shape [were] hindered by the relative lack of informative fossils of early stem snakes [1]. Just as there was an overproduction of wheat in 1870, there is now an overproduction of corn in the United States. Some historical contingencies of the wheat production in the United States include the introduction of further government interest and intervention in agricultural research, namely hybridization and crossbreeding, due to the end of laissez faire ideology of the United States. Jessie Pope War Women Analysis Masculinity and Femininity in Jessie Pope s war poems: War Girls and The Call The world wars have greatly impacted modern British literature in the 20th century. There were many poems written about the period of war; some showed them in a positive light and some negative. Gender roles, gender relations on what means to be a man or a womanimpacted greatly during this time. In particular with World War I , women in large numbers took over jobs in the homeland while the men were out fighting. Questions on what is femininity and what is masculinity were on the rise. Men were constantly fed with the idea that they should be drafted into the war. This propaganda was seen everywhere during this era due to the self interests of the British... That is not the whole story because in the 5th line, this gender is called Strong, sensible, and fit, This stands out in the poem as it follows the rule of 3 of a poem to describe the qualities of the new woman now. It is controversial to the usual perspective of a woman since these adjectives are associated with a man more than a woman. This exhibits that the typical views of what femininity is changed during the wartime. The usage of the word grit in line 6 is also a word associated with masculinity but it is used in the poem to describe women. The poem also shows femininity to be related to toil because Pope mentions a girl who does a milk round in the rain (3). The physical hard work of the woman is to be revered according to Pope. The imagery of not being caged or penned up anymore (7) is a strong one it explains that the war brought redemption and freedom to women. A definitive declarative statement is made in the 9th line of the poem, They re going to make their end up , Pope is manifesting her confidence in the women of Britain who are serving their country by being the workforce. The shift in the gender roles is empowering for women during the wartime and Pope associates this with patriotism as well. • 38. Essay On The Woman Warrior A typical warrior is a medieval knight in shining armor fighting for his life and homeland. Today, the definition of what it means to be a warrior has become ambiguous. Often times, we view those willing to sacrifice their lives for others soldiers, police officers, or firefighters as warriors. Even expanded in this way, the warrior still has a connotation of physical bravery, masculine strength, and unhindered confidence. However, the word warrior can have an entirely new meaning when we use it in a literary context. It can be defined as a person who is simply fighting for convictions and values that are morally and ethically right. As associated with women, some real, some legendary, some with evident power, some seeming to be weak.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maxine was NOT [to] tell anyone because it risked bringing exposure and shame to the family (1). After hearing the events through her mother s perspective, Maxine understood that her mother controlled the way events unraveled. This realization showcases how Maxine was able to think outside the framework her mother was providing for her. Maxine imagined that in order to sustain being in love, [her aunt] often worked at herself in the mirror (6). Her innocence and ability to recognize what her mother was trying to invoke fear in her actually directed Maxine to think in a contradictory way. As a result of this evolved critical thinking, Maxine never once characterized her dead aunt as a humiliation. From her narrative, Maxine overlooked her actions and commended her resilience. Due to this, women are viewed as the paragons and upholders of their societies virtues, as biological reproducers of national and ethnic groups, agents for transmitting national culture and ideology, cultural symbols of purity and national housekeepers. This is in stark contrast to men who are illustrated as protectors of their nation s honour and as warriors; in retrospect, war is waged to humiliate and, in some cases, destroy the foundation of the opposing nation s society. Men, the primary defenders of their nation in hindsight are expendable, while they may die, their culture and society will live on through their women who will go on to transmit their genes and culture through the children they bear. Because women represent the three pillars of the home and not one; it is more efficient to target women, not only to demoralise the opposing enemy troops, but to consequently change the genetic make up and otherwise culture of the society the women live in. This act of humiliation not only scars the women and emasculates the men, but their society as a whole. Ever since Dr. Kevorkian or Doctor Death drove his car around the united states assisting over 40 patients to take the own lives physician aid in dying has been a topic which has sparked controversy (DiManno). Although his actions did receive large amounts of negative feed back it did lead much of the population to the question of whether or not it should be legal for an individual to have medical assistance to take their life in certain situations such as terminal illness or chronic physical pain. Through the years this idea has adopted the name physicianaid in dying. Personally I believe that we should, because when it comes to our body we should have 100% control over what we choose to do with it. Even if that is choosing to take our own life in times of great physical pain and suffering. Although physician aid in dying is already legal in five states, I believe that it should be legal in the remainder of the states in the United States. While I know that the thought of a doctor prescribing a lethal dosage of a medication to help a patient to take their life can be disturbing to some people it should not be illegal. If that were the case eventually it could be illegal to get tattoos or have hair cuts that may be disturbing to some people. The way I see it is that if PAD is really what someone wants it should be an option to them no matter what state they live in. The thought of someone suffering from a ... Barnes had to bear responsibility to replace them free of charge as the low quality manuals were due to Barnes decision to use cheaper printer. In this case, Barnes was still able to absorb the cost of replacing the manuals free of charge as the total savings from using the cheaper printer is more than the total cost of replacing.
