Importance Of Democracy In Wilhelmine Germany
To what extent was Wilhelmine Germany practicing democracy ?
Two important cornerstones of a democracy are the ability for the people to elect representatives,
and the willingness/power of these representative to make decisions in favour of their electorates.
Although there is no general consensus on parliamentization in Wilhelmine Germany, many
historians agree that Germans had a significant amount of experience with Democracy during this
era. This paper examines the political culture of Wilhelmine Germany and the parliamentisation of
the Reichstag in this period to assess the extent to which imperial Germany was practicing
democracy . Perhaps the strongest argument in favour of democratic tendencies in imperial
Germany is the remarkably high voting participation of the period. When Bismarck granted
suffrage to all men over the age of 25 for the direct election of an imperial Reichstag, he intended to
mobilize the German people without causing any real change. However, throughout the whole of
Europe, public education, military conscription, and growth of the popular press was changing the
relationship people had with the state. Consequently, there was a sharp increase electoral
participation in the years following the introduction manhood suffrage. Among eligible voters,
voting rose from 52% in 1871 to 85% in 1912. Voters not only turned out in high percentages, but
were habitual and consistent in the Reichstag elections that took place every three years. Sheri
Berman argues that elections must have been seen as meaningful, otherwise the German people
would not have bothered to turn out in such high numbers.
In addition to high participation rates, a high percentage of the population was represented in
elections relative to other great powers in this period. Whereas all men eligible to vote were
automatically registered in Germany, one third of the male population in Britain was precluded
from voting. In the United States, the need for voluntary registration in addition to discrimination
against African Americans led to only half of males of voting age participating in elections. Still,
critics of this outlook point to voting attitudes in addition to political intimidation and manipulation
during

An Essay on Cat Woman
The midst at which I had eloped from the deteriorated streets of Gotham City to the confederates of
vogues I had never possessed within myself. Using promiscuity is just the catch to working up to
the position an executive superhero obtains I d thought, but clearly my potential had lacked in such
a drift. Evolving into a tight fitting, pitch black bodysuit used to everlastingly depict Batmanas an
adversary, I had maintained my prevalence in my every attribute. From a stinging, venomous whip
to a slick, tight fitting body suit, I developed attributes not just to demolish one s success, but to
obliterate one s future. In all, using my appealing curves; inexorably enabling myself to adapt to
any environment: whether it was day, dawn, noon, or night; anywhere and at any time. Hands
down, I could assuredly corroborate my elegant and exclusive vogue. As a whip carrying burglar
with a taste for high stake thefts to a confident business woman dressed in a black fitted blazer, my
disguises were perpetually ordained. Many had often questioned my intentions as to my goal as an
abandoned child who fought the battles towards the light of success. At last, I became the mind
rattling, impetuous, unforgettable, and notorious CatWoman. Continuing my journey to inordinate
prosperity, I delineated not only the wisest, but the bravest of them all when using my cat skills to

The Physiological Phenomena During Sex
This paper will explore the physiological phenomena during sex and if it holds to be proven about
all creatures. Sigmund Freud invented Psychoanalysis, which is the theory and therapy of treating
people who suffer from nervous disorders by researching the unconscious mind that makes us
repress or push our urges and desires. From Psychoanalysis, stems Psychosexual development,
which believe that from birth humans experience sxual energy going through five stages in their
life. This theory could have inspired the two researchers between the late 1950s and early 1960s,
William H. Masters and his partner, Virginia E. Johnson. Masters and Johnsondeeply investigated
the physiological changes a male and female experience during sex and how long... Show more

Despite of all the data Masters and Johnson collected, Shere Hite was one their criticizer, who
strongly believe there was some faults in the information they wrote about females and orgasms.
The following questions will answer the confusion about sexuality:
What is Psychosexuality and how does it impact Masters and Johnson s work? Does animals prove
the Human Sexual Response cycle?
Does Hite highlight the flaws in the Human Sexual Response?
Therefore, Masters and Johnson s human sexual cycle is accurate because it efficiently sorts the
physiological changes for all creatures.
Psychosexuality
Animals and the human sexual response. In the empirical article, What Can Animal Models Tell
Us About Human Sexual Response? eas done by James G Pfaus, Tod E. Kippin, Genaro Coria
Avila explains the Human Sexual Response done by sex researchers, William Masters and Virginia
Johnson. The Human Sexual Response is a four stage model that has to do with physiological
responses of sexual stimulation. The question the focuses on was what can animal models tell us
about human sexual response and the hypothesis they focus on to examine how it causes desire and
how sexual stimulation. Neuroendocrinologist study animals, while Clinicians focus on humans

Acid-Base Titration Lab
Abstract
By using acid base titration, we determined the suitability of phenolphthalein and methyl red as acid
base indicators. We found that the equivalence point of the titration of hydrochloric acid with
sodium hydroxide was not within the ph range of phenolphthalein s color range. The titration of
acetic acid with sodium hydroxide resulted in an equivalence point out of the range of methyl red.
And the titration of ammonia with hydrochloric acid had an equivalence point that was also out of
the range of phenolphthalein.. The methyl red indicator and the phenolphthalein indicator were
unsuitable because their pH ranges for their color changes did not cover the equivalence points of
the trials in which they were used. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Process Description Of Object Oriented Programming
PROCESS DESCRIPTION OF OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING
Introduction
Object Oriented Programming is a programming paradigm emphasized on objects which consists of
data attributes and methods (Lewis; Loftus). Data attributes are comparable to nouns while
methods are comparable to verbs in English. For instance, a person represented by object, has
name, age, and gender as its data attributes. The person will be able to think, speak, and write with
the representation of methods in the object.
The main purpose of learning Object Oriented Programming is to create programs that are
maintainable and scalable. Maintainability is essential for programmers to understand the codes
in a program. Therefore, the codes have to be concise and clear. Moreover, programs need to be
easy to upgrade to accommodate changes in real world. Hence, we need to have the capability to
build a program on another program.
Object Oriented Programming enables programmers to program by modeling the real world instead
of defining the logic of how the world works. It focuses more on what makes up an object rather
than what the object does. Programmers can focus on creating small components or objects, and
group them together based on their relationships to build a larger object, which can be built upon
again in future. The process of developing the paradigm consists the following steps: Encapsulation,
Inheritance, Data Abstraction, and Polymorphism.

Essay On Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler s Leadership Some people are good, even great leaders, but horrible people. Adolf
Hitler was a great representation of this, he had lead Germany out of the worst depression ever.
Later on he would take a democratic government out of office. He would even take over all of
Europe and he was not even from Germany. He took a pathetic group in the Nazis/German
Workers Party, and made them into a powerhouse a force to be reckoned with. But then he had
killed millions of innocent people based on their appearance their religion which was horrible he
even killed himself, not only did he kill millions of people he would also kill his family members
when they wouldn t help him with his problems. Adolf Hitlerwas born in 1889 in a country called
Austria near Germany, his father died when he was 13 of a stroke as he said in his book Mein
Kampf. He applied for an art school 2 times getting rejected both of them. After he got the second
time he was running out of options so he went to be in the army nearly everyone died making
him a corporal in the mists of the very first World War. He would later after the as most people
know become the leader of the Nazi partyand a dictator of Germany. His political views were
much like modern day politics. He would use lots of propaganda and blame the Jews,
Communists, Weimar Republic and much more. At the time the world was in a recession also
better known as The Great Depression. His reason for these political views are impossible to say
for sure but one of the suspected reasons was the art school he applied to 2 times was a mainly
Jewish school. Also when he lived in Vienna about 9% of the 2 million people that lived there
were Jewish and the were still very Antisemitism. The Nazi party was formed by a man named
Anton Drexler. It was founded in February 24 1920. They were also known as the German
workers party. Adolf Hitler would not become leader until 1921 although being part of the party
since it was first started. They practiced Nazismwhich was like Nazis were the best much like
nationalism except instead of believing in their country being the best they believed Nazis were
the best. This is why they killed some 5.5 to 6 million people of the Jewish race. The

Halloween vs. Christmas
Holidays in the United States differ from others around the world. Two unique holidays celebrated
in the states are Halloween and Christmas. The two holidays differ in tradition and decoration, but
occur roughly during the same time of year.
Halloween originated from a festival of the northern European culture. This holiday and the ideas
that tie along with the concept of Halloween were brought to the United States from the Celts. The
Celts believed that on October 31 ghosts would return from the dead and back to earth. In the
European culture Halloween is a time where spirits care able to come into contact with the real
world. This day was called Samhian. Traditions such as costumes and trick or treating. The idea
of costumes dated back hundreds of years ago. They were meant to be used as a disguise to avoid
being recognized by ghosts. According to the staff of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than the spooky vibe given from the Hallloween traditions, Christmas tridions are give off
more of a cheery, happy, uplifting vibe. Christmas is typically a Christian holiday that revolves
around the birth of Jesus Christ. Today, however, we celebrate this event not only to honor his
birth, but also to gather those close to one another and exchange gifts. In the States, there is a
legend about a man, Santa Clause. Santa Clause was brought to the U.S. from a monk from
modern day Turkey in 280 AD. The legend has evolved since then. The story of santa Clause
goes like this. All year long children who behaved naughty or nice received their own list. Those
who behaved naughty would receive nothing but a lump of coal, and those who were nice
received a gift from Santa Clause. The night before Christmas, children would leave out a batch of
cookies and a glass of milk for him on his long trip around the

Immortality In Gilgamesh
The epic of Gilgamesh tells a story about a half human half god man searching for life answers. It
highlights the basic of human nature, human fears, desires, and needs. The main character
Gilgamesh has these characteristics of humankind with intense strength and the position of power
from his god like background. The first thing the audience learns from the story is that Gilgamesh
builds protective walls around the city, a great gift to his society. When the audience next learns
that the king has been abusive to the young men of the city and has deflowered young maidens,
their disapproval of these acts is tempered by their initial approval of his great accomplishment.
Overall, the early portions of the story demonstrate that the abiding criterion... Show more content

he tells his mother of his dream, A star fell from the heavens, a meteorite, and lay on the empty

The Pros And Cons Of Human Experimentation
When World War 2 is mentioned, most people think of the Auschwitz and what the Germans did to
the Jews to create the perfect race . Those Jews were sent to the concentration camps where they
were tortured and a team of twenty so called medical professionals got to experiment on the lesser
species . These experiments included victims being stripped of bones, muscles and nerves;
sometimes having entire limbs removed to transplant to other victims; intentional exposure to
mustard gas along with so many other terrible practices. In today s society we frown on human
experimentation, determined not to let history repeat but with society s growing need for
betterness, medical professionals are still experimenting on people, just under the guise

The At The Statesboro Main Street Farmers Market From 10
On September 3, 2016, I was given the opportunity to serve at The Statesboro Main Street
Farmers Market from 10:00am until 1:00pm. This event is open to the public from April to
November every Saturday from 9:30am 12:30pm beside the Bulloch County Courthouse and Sea
Island Bank. Here you will find many local vendors selling their own produce. This event is not
limited to produce as you will also find locals selling jewelry, baked goods, crafts, and my personal
favorite, coffee. Some locally owned stores other than farmers bring their business to the market
such as Three Tree Coffee Roasters, Sugar Magnolia, Cork s Kettle Corn, B G Honey Farm, etc.
With a small town feel, this charming location is perfect for the venue at hand.
What was your role at the event?
Upon arrival, I went to the information vendor located in the middle of the Farmers Market
where I was greeted by other volunteers and Melanie Sparrow, who told me my responsibilites
for the upcoming hours. My first duty was to hand out various advertisements for the upcoming
GreenFest which will be held October 1st, 2016, across the street from the Farmers Market. The
GreenFest is held by Georgia Southern s Center for Sustainability. The goal of this event is to
teach people about green living and what it entails. Much like the Farmers Market, there will be
live music, vendors, and workshops. Aside from passing out ads, I also helped keep attendance of
everyone in the market by taking a count every 30 minutes or so.

Alleles Lab Report
The Effect of Regularity of Environmental Disasters on Allele Frequencies in a Moth Population
The purpose of this experiment was to determine how changing environmental factors would affect
the allele frequencies in a population of white, brown, and black moths. More specifically, the aim
was to see if final allele frequencies would coincide with the Hardy Weinberg theory of evolution,
or if genetic drift, amplified by environmental disasters, would play a significant role in the outcome
of the experiment.
The results of the experiment were analyzed using a Chi squared test. Expected results were
calculated for a hypothetical situation where the population of moths corresponded with the Hardy
Weinberg theory, and these expected results... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(4) When a population changes (either increases or decreases) for seemingly no reason, genetic
drift is most often to blame. (1) Frequencies of alleles available in the gene pool for that
population are subject to change when evolution takes place, and one or more alleles can
sometimes vanish. Populations with fewer organisms often experience more substantial genetic
drift, due to the fact that if there is less of an allele in a gene pool during a generation, there is a
higher risk that a large amount of that allele will be removed just due to random chance genetic
drift. (4) It is important to note that the final population during the frequent disasters trial became
243 from an original 4000 when one of the alleles ( a ) was lost. This is considered a population
bottleneck (4) where the population decreased by a significant amount. In a situation like this,
there are fewer alleles available in the gene pool of that population for that generation, so there is a
bigger chance that genetic drift will accidently cause the loss of a substantial portion of one of the
alleles, driving it to discontinuation.

Three Types Of Rumination Research Paper
Explain the different types of rumination (the cognitive level) that Denson describes. Do these
distinctions make sense to you? Denson describes three different types of rumination at the
cognitive level: content focus, mode of processing, and the vantage perspective. The content focus
of rumination is either provocation focused or self focused. Provocation focused rumination is
concerned with the incident that angered them (e.g. the person who insulted them and leads to
increased thoughts of anger and revenge. Self focused rumination occurs when the person
ruminates on themself (e.g. considering the insult to be a true reflection of themself). Self focused
rumination will increase self awareness and the individual will try to understand... Show more

Put the functional account of angry rumination into your own words, so it s clear that you
understand it. Also, what do you think about the idea of collective rumination? The functional
account of angry rumination suggests that angry rumination is an adaptive by product anger and
self awareness. Angry rumination may be helpful because ruminating postpones a person from
making rash anger fueled decisions when confrontation may be risky until a time that it is safe to
take action. It may also prevent forgiveness, which makes it easier to take action again wrong
doers. Physiological outcomes of angry rumination support that this type of rumination is
preparing the body for physical action, such as revenge. Self focused rumination and self critical
emotion may also cause a person to change their behavior for the better in order to fit with societal
norms and expectations. I believe collective rumination has a good basis. People tend to empathize
with those close to them, meaning it is likely that angry rumination in one individual can be
transferred to another through the retelling of anger inducing situations. It could explain how
individuals in large groups of people could feel a strong hatred for something or

Boptany Importance Of Science
Botany, the science of the vegetable kingdom, is one of the most attractive, most useful, and most

Joseph Paxton, a gardener and member of the British Parliament in the nineteenth century (Paxton
1).Why is botanysuch a enjoyable profession? The many activities you can attend such as growing
and trimming are both easy ways to make money ,but take a lot of responsibility. As one prepares
for a future in the field of Biology, one must consider the historical background, the educational
requirements, the work environment, the duties and responsibilities, wages and benefits, and the
potential for advancement of Botany.
Botany began near the Neolithic Period but wasn t scientifically studied until the 1700 s. During the
Neolithic Period they had the knowledge of farming and soon began growing their own crops.
Fruits and vegetables have been an important part of social development since the beginning of
time. In Ancient Greece and Rome philosophers urged more learning in sciences, they began
learning more about plants. The philosopher Theophrastus was known as The Father of Botany
because of two seminal works that were used for the next 1500 years and survive today (Mason).
For the next 1500 years, there would be little development and most botanical studies were limited
to places of learning such as universities and monasteries (Mason). The history of Botany is very

Three Major Eras
From the 13th century to the 18th century the art world has three major eras, Renaissance,
Baroque, and Rococo. Each era has its own characteristics, the development of scientific
knowledge has a big influence on them. When a scientific expression method was taken for the
first time, it became a trend and the same method and expression method were adopted for many
art objects. That trend also became a characteristic of that era. By using scientific knowledge
development and analysis, art objects became more realistic.
In the Renaissance era, the line perspective has been used for paintings since around the 15th
century. The perspective technique developed from architectural industry. Not only was the
composition seen by the eyes, but also the scientific theoretical perspective projection method
used for the space composition of paintings. Holy Trinity drawn by Masaccio of the Renaissance
era incorporates scientific perspectives into the vault part. Another example would be a Mona
Lisa. The famous Mona Lisa drawn by Leonardo da Vinci also uses a scientific way of expression
as well. Leonardo da Vinci used the aerial perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Chiaroscuro is also one of features of this era. As an example of Chiaroscuro there is The Nativity
drawn by Geertgen tot Sint Jans. Overall is dark, light is emphasized, light source is also
highlighted with shadows. Which seems really strongly highlighted due to majority of areas are
dark. Another characteristic of the Baroque era is the composition of dynamic movement. The
Seven Works of Mercy painted by Caravaggio is a good example. Besides the light and dark with
the light source, I feel the movement as a whole. Clothing, hair, flames etc. have a feeling of
dynamism. I think that this dynamic movement is also a big characteristic of the Baroque

De Beers Diamonds Essay
POV ANALYSIS #1
De Beers Diamonds
Corrin Wigren
10/10/11
Situation: The De Beers name has always been synonymous with diamonds due largely impart to
the fact that in order for anyone to deal in the diamond business, at some point they will have to
deal with at least one of our subsidiary companies, retailers or distributors. De Beers owns 43%
of the worlds market shares of rough diamonds, but this is way down from the 80% we were at in
the 80 s. The diamond demand is at the mercy of an extremely volatile market which is largely
based off of the consumer s disposable income and with the current recession and cutbacks in
consumer spending, it is important that we find a way to maintain a competitive hold on the market.
SWOT ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third solution is to begin cultivating and competing in the Synthetic Diamond market.
Synthetic diamonds are flawless, have no correlation in the public mind with conflict diamonds ,
they are easy to make and if manufactured for abrasive wheels, they can be grown in a few days in
a lab. However the technology to grow a diamond big enough to be used for polished jewelry still
is not quite there. The procedures and equipment are not yet time or cost effective. In order to enter
the jewelry market with the right synthetics would cost the average consumer too much.
Decision: We have decided to penetrate the emerging markets of China and India with a new
line of luxury diamonds created with a special serial number and inscriptions bearing the name of
the special promotional line that they will be a part of and the De Beers logo. To restructure

Examples Of Opera Buffa And Hope In The Shawshank Redemption
Opera Buffa and Hope in The Shawshank Redemption What does one imagine when viewing a
comic opera? Servants outwitting their masters? A happy ending? However, would one imagine a
comic opera in a maximum security prison? In The Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufresne plays
an duet from Mozart s comic opera, The Marriageto Fiagaro, as its Enlightened ideals represent
Andy s prison experience and its Classical characteristics evoke a sense of hope in the repressed
prison. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s The Marriage of Figaro reflects the social and musical
influence of the Classical period. Socially, The Marriage of Fiagaro reflects the ideals of the
Enlightenment. The Enlightenment was was a period that saw the institutions of Europe religious,...

Common characteristics of classical music include strong dynamics, changing rhythms, simplistic
melodies, and homophony (Tomlinson and Kerman 155 158). When focusing on the aria played in
The Shawshank Redemption, one hears the natural use of the voice. We re not asking the voice to
do anything that it really doesn t want to do, and it s naturally dramatic (Greenberg). The
homophonic music accompanies Susanna s aria, but does not over power her voice; it is simple.
The changing rhythms and dynamics express Susanna s emotions as music during the
Enlightenment was considered akin to the motions of the human soul, from which it follows that
music is able to apprehend and convey the impulses and moods of the human soul (Lang 96). These
feelings, however, are not those of the Church or government institution; they are the feelings of a
servant who wants to marry Fiagaro and the Countess, who is conspiring against her husband.
Another introduction in comic opera was the ensemble, a number sung by two or more people
(Tomlinson and Kerman 189). The ensemble allows the characters, Susanna and the Countess, to
express their emotions simultaneously. Musically, the duet in The Marriage of Fiagaro incorporates
the popular characteristics of the Classical period to express the natural emotions of two women.
The Shawshank Redemption is a critically acclaimed movie that addresses topics such as infidelity,

Analyse the Ways the Director Builds Suspense and Scares...
Jaws is a 1975 American horror thriller film, directed by Steven Spielberg and based on a best

chief Martin Brody of Amity Island, a fictional summer resort town; Brody just like other police
chief s tries to protect his people and tourists from a giant white shark by closing the beach
although he is overruled by the town council who want the beach to remain open, so that the town
can make profit from tourists during the summer season. The reason for this is that on the 4th July

The camera technique used is a Medium Long Shot; this allows the audience to see the attack and
the surroundings in more detail.
The director builds up fear for the shark by making the music seem sly and dangerous. The
director also makes the music seem like the kind of music you would expect from a murder film.
He also builds tension by showing all the attacks in detail and comes quite at a distance so you
can see just what actually happens to the victims as if you were watching from the beach.
However during the film the shark is described as 25 feet long and weighing 3 tons, several time,
this is in a way of giving the audience clues and it even creates a picture in the audiences heads of
what its finally going to look like. In the film other sharks are also mentioned as well as the great
White Shark, although they both almost paint the same image in the audience s head as they both
show you different ways physical and emotional damages that the shark can cause. The Physical
techniques used are usually to scare the audience in a sodden movement. And the Emotional
technique is used to scare the audience very slowly by getting the message across

International Adoptions Essay
INTRODUCTION
The number of international adoptions taking place in the United States is steadily increasing.
Many people looking to start a family in the United States are turning to international adoptions
because the process is easier than adopting within this country. However, many of these adoptive
parents are not ready for the challenges of adopting a child from another country. Not only are the
adoptive parents and the children at different levels of readiness to attach but the child is forced
into a new culture as well. Many of the children adopted internationally have been mistreated prior
to adoption and as a resulting have great difficulty forming attachments with their adoptive parents.
It is difficult for these internationally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A number of children when adopted come to the United States with nothing from their cultural
pasts and must face the anti immigrant sentiment that is prevalent in our society. Many adopted
children are mourning the loss of their cultural context in many ways that adoptive parents and
practitioners are not prepared to deal with.
Although the number of international adoptions are increasing in the United States there have been
few studies focusing on the adjustment, identity, and attachment of international adoptees. There is
very little research on adult adoptees and the ethnic/cultural socialization and identity
developmental process. According to Freidlander (1999), most of the available research considers
self esteem or adjustment of adopted children, not the process by which they begin forming an
understanding and acceptance of their identity.
This topic merits attention in the research field so this study proposes to understand the adoptive
experience of internationally adopted adults in terms of their identity development, attachment
experience, and adaptation to life in an American family. A qualitative interview approach will be
used while interviewing internationally adopted adults to understand the complex experience of
adoption and how one adapts to this experience. This study is developed in hopes to inform
prospective adoptive families and mental health practitioners of the experiences and challenges
faced by international adoptees so they are

Present Day In American Culture
This essay has had a deliberate focus on gnomic, historical quotes in order to emphasise the
importance of the past. In truth, however, so much of history is unrecorded, so many lines of it
unrecorded. Without archaeology, all information on proto historic civilisations would only be from
written accounts, and there would be no information whatsoever on prehistoric civilisations.
Archaeology can even serve to explain modern trends. The present day has been influenced so
much by the pastthat the two are inextricably linked, and learning about the past can tell so much
about the present today. Equally, so much about the past can be explained using present rituals.
Some Native Americans have traditions that can be traced back thousands of years

The Role Of Algorithmic Media On Audiences And Society
Algorithmic media have a kind of power, however this power largely remains invisible to the
audience or user who instead interact with the information that the algorithm sorts and delivers.
Instead where this power manifests and consolidates is on platforms that draw the attention of
audiences and revolve around the role played by algorithms. Using institutional theory,
automodernity, and the concept of algorithmic publics, we can start to map out a growing and
potential field of research that attempts to measure and explore the growing role and influence of
algorithmic media on audiences and therefore society. Especially when in the form of platforms
like Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc. Tarleton Gillespie (2010) is a vocal critic of the evolving
relationship between the new media industries and their audiences, in particular drawing issue
with the use of the word platform , arguing that it provides a false vision of technical neutrality
and progressive openness (360) when the reality is quite the opposite. Rather than regard platforms
as a level playing field we should instead regard them as what they are, slanted towards the interests
of the owner, serving specific commercial needs and interests. Gillespie argues in a later paper
(2015) that platforms exercise considerable power in their ability to make interventions, whether
that involves shaping how the platforms are used, or more importantly deleting content or users of
the platform itself. They internalize the

How Psychiatry Has Changed Since The 1970 S
Lauren Slater s, On Being Sane in Insane Places, takes the reader on a journey showing how
psychiatry has changed since the 1970 s. David Rosenhan s experiment of whether psychiatrists
could accurately diagnose mental stability was the catalyst for her own experiment. Her quest to
see if Rosenhan s experiment can be duplicated, clearly shows her mental stability is
questionable. I believe the psychiatrists in her experiment may have accurately diagnosed her. In
the original experiment by David Rosenhan, he wanted to show that the social control wielded
by psychiatrists was not backed up by skills of accurate diagnosis. Along with eight other
colleagues, he tried to infiltrate mental hospitals. To get in, they were to present with a voice
saying thud. After being admitted, if they were, they were to behave typically to see if they
would be exposed as impostors (Slater 63). To begin the experimenters grew out their hair and
stopped showering for a couple of days. They learned to avoid unnecessary ingestion of
medication by cheeking pills. The participants showed up at mental hospitals and told them their
symptom. If they were checked in, they were to let the staff know that the voice had stopped and
they were ok. All of the experimenters were admitted, diagnosed and held for various periods of
time. The diagnoses for the fake patients were schizophrenic psychosis for eight of them, and manic
depressive psychosis for one. During their stays they were treated the same as the

The disease usually affects the elderly, people 65 and older, but 200,000 of the Americans living

mutation in one of the APP, PSEN1, or PSEN2 genes. When one of these three genes are
reformed, a toxic fragment called amyloid beta peptides is created in the brain. The peptide will
then produce clumps in the brain, called amyloid plaques, which is a characteristic of Alzheimer s
disease. An accumulation of toxic amyloid plaques will most likely cause death to the nerve cells
and show symptoms of the disease. This mutation carries on from parent to child, making the
disease hereditary. Researchers say that people with Down syndrome have a high risk of

The Danger Of A Single Story By Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
he world is a diverse place. Many cultures, societies and religions, each of them having rich
histories. Due to such abundance of knowledge, being unaware of a society or culture is
common. However, having the wrong idea of a culture or a community could potentially be a
devastating problem. In fact, this is a prevalent problem as false lies about communities are easily
spread out to group of people, the so called fake news problem. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichieis an
Nigerian author who addresses this problem in her TED Talk at Oxford, England. She asserts
that single stories of a place/community can create a critical misunderstanding. Moreso, the
problem is more pervasive than previously thought. They are not necessarily harmful yet
pervasive. For example, subtle stereotypes such as all Asians only want to be engineers and
doctors or every college dropout is an utter failure. Due to such pervasiveness and consequences,
open mindedness is of utmost importance in order to have a peaceful and a more understanding
world or in author s terms, When we realize that there is never a single story about any place, we
will regain a kind of paradise .
In The danger of a single story , Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie argues that having a narrow
perspective of a community, person or a nation can create a critical misunderstanding. Ms.Adichie

The importance of the intestinal tract microbiome in rheumatic illness was identified when the
existence of specific microbes was correlated with the reactive arthritis development. Studies
demonstrating that the presence of a specific resident bacterial DNA in synovial fluids of arthritic

Warren Harding Errors Chapter 3 Summary
In Chapter Three, The Warren Harding Error, Gladwell focuses on what he calls the dark side of
thin slicing the way that our unconscious minds tend toward Gladwell by arguing why our minds
subconscious automatically assumes things based of stereotypes using the art of persuasion.
Throughout this book you constantly hear of the idea of how we make snap judgements of
everything and everyone and how we can be more aware of it in our lives. It also explains the
good and bad side of thin slicing. (AKA snap judgements) In the book it says, ...to convince you
that our snap judgements and first impression can be educated and controlled. (Gladwell Pg. 15) In
chapter three of the book, Blink, it reflects on how snap judgements tie in with stereotypes. It says
in the book, We make connection much more quickly between pairs of ideas that are already
related in our minds... (Gladwell Pg. 77) The chapter starts off with exemplification when Gladwell
gives the Warren Harding example which also explains the bad side to thin slicing. He then goes
into classification and definition with the example of the IAT tests. The IAT tests are the perfect
example as to how thin slicing is not always a good thing. This test measured that second level of
attitude in an unconscious level, so it is our immediate associations that tumble out before you have
time to think about them. The test also shows the unconscious attitudes that you might have even if
they are completely opposite of what your

differences to Tang, For instance, the prime minister of the Song dynasty might take a bath in

women in this period. In contrast with the Tang dynasty, women in this period despite it
following the Tang dynasty, were not allowed into positions of great importance like

involves a number of attractions over the weekend when it Is held. It used to be just a normal fly

These days competition is very tough among each kind of business and thus the pressure or the
force to satisfy the customer s needs and expectations are at the peak these days in events or
shows like Old Station Fly In. These days the economy that we live in has moved away from
what usually used to be known as normal service economy; but rather these days, the economy
as well as the global mindset of people who attend events or shows is moving more towards what
is known as the experience economy. Customers are happy to pay a better price but only on the
leverage of getting a premium service and special memorable experience for the price they are
paying. These days customers demand unique experiences and organisers need to provide them
so as to have a regular clientele and more marketing and business. E.g. If we take the example of
Old station Fly In show, there was a dinner organised for the patrons flying in and driving to the
show; although the dinner had a very special speaker Matt Hall ; it would have been much more
attracting feature of the food was arranged by someone famous such as any master chef celebrity or

The Purposeful Destruction Of Images
The Purposeful Destruction of Images Throughout the ages art has been subject to selective
destruction and spoliation. It has been taken by conquering peoples as spoils of war, put to
material re use, and been subject to iconoclasm. Iconoclasm has been used as a means of not only
purposeful forgetting, but, also the preservation of memory as a warning to others motivated
diversely by ideology, religion, and politics. One artifact subject to iconoclasm is the painted
portrait of Septimius Severusand his family in which one face was scraped out leaving the other
three members untouched for political reasons and a demonstration of power. Another artifact
affected by iconoclasm is a famous Byzantine icon, the Virgin Hodegetria, which was taken to be
the Virgin and Christ Child by western Europe for religious purposes. Breaking the image in this
figurative manner gave little to no meaning to the original icon and stole its value in history.
Another victim of iconoclasm is a panel that once belonged to an arch of Marcus Aurelius that
now adorns the arch of Constantine (Elsner, p. 212). These three artifacts have all been
purposefully altered in diverse ways for different reasons, however, the fact remains that they have
all faced damnatio memoriae, spolia, and/or iconoclasm. Iconoclasm has been described in many
ways, the most known definition comes from Gardner s Art through the Ages: A Global History by
Fred Kleiner, iconoclasm is the destruction of religious or sacred

How useful are models of self confidence in deepening our understanding of sporting
performance? Confidence has been outlined as an important and essential mental skill in sporting
performance by both athletes and coaches according to Vealey and Chase, 2008. There is a
general consensus of support by the literature for a positive relationship between confidence and
performance (Moritz, Feltz, Fahrbach, Mack, 2000 cited by Machida, Ward and Vealey, 2012). In
developing an understanding of these models of confidence and efficacy it has become a primary
target to increase the confidence of athletes at specific psychological interventions (Hanton Jones,
1999; Mamassis Doganis, 2004 cited by Machida, Ward and Vealey, 2012). There are two

First, enactive mastery experiences were the most powerful source of self efficacy. Second,
golfers maintained high self efficacy over time by recalling prior success, strategically framing
experiences, and enlisting supportive verbal persuasions from themselves and from others.
Finally, self efficacy influenced professional golfers thought patterns, outcome expectations, and
emotional states. Findings support and refine the theoretical tenets of Bandura s social
cognitive theory. (Valiante and Morris, 2013). Sport confidence is defined as the beliefs in
individual s capability to be successful in sport (Vealey, 1986). The sport confidence model
builds on Bandura s model of self efficacy. Vealey et al, (1998) identified nine sources of sport
confidence that are unique to the context of competitive sport. These include mastery (i.e.
improving skills in the sporting context), demonstration of ability (i.e. showing off abilities to
others or out performing an opponent), physical /mental preparation (i.e. feeling physically and
mentally prepared for competition) and physical self presentation (i.e. one s physical self image)
(Vealey and Chase, 2008). A study investigating the effect of a decrease in confidence on the
performance in a well learned task, (Woodman, Akehurst, Hardy and Beattie, 2010) in this case
they used skipping, concluded that to an extent a lack in self confidence or

Essay about Blake Edwards
1. How do any one of the films screened in weeks 6 12 of the course represent and/or foreground
authorship?
Dating back to the 1920 s, the term auteur was debated over, claiming to describe an author of
script and film maker as one and the same versus the view of scripts being appointed from authors
or scriptwriters (1996, p12).
Over the [course of 50 or so odd] years,. Known for his distinctive brand of comedy, the work of
Blake Edwards, demonstrates the authorial stamp that is often referred to in theories of the auteur,
resulting in a style or approach to cinema that could be described as Edward ness . [He makes

Clouseau continues for the hotel room door yet stumbles over a suitcase. While finally for the
topper topper , Clouseau suspiciously checks the door and flings it wide open while peering out,
only to be hit by the door from behind.
Audiences are encouraged to adapt completely to this style in order for the comic lines and/or
events to take on a familiar quality of convention rather than becoming abstractions to the field of
movement or speech (Meisel, 1983). *
Edwards genius at creating a logically evolving chaos and building laughter through long
stretches of farcical sostenuto (1981, p.26) is what sets him apart from other directors of the time,
yet is respected as being apart of the few who were to be considered apart of the pantheon of
directors (1973, p50).
The ideology of Hollywood surrounding S.O.B was Blake Edwards intentions to assault the motion
picture industry as thanks for the excessive disputes between studio executives and himself in order
to maintain Hollywood success (1981, p39).
Within the chapter of Authorship, James Naremore notes that authors are written by a series of
historical, social and cultural determinants (1999, p22), which can be said to easily differentiate
films precisely from one another.
We see a paradoxical linkage to some of these determinants in each of Edwards films.
S.O.B and Sunset (1988) both illustrate the malice and treachery

  • 2. Importance Of Democracy In Wilhelmine Germany To what extent was Wilhelmine Germany practicing democracy ? Two important cornerstones of a democracy are the ability for the people to elect representatives, and the willingness/power of these representative to make decisions in favour of their electorates. Although there is no general consensus on parliamentization in Wilhelmine Germany, many historians agree that Germans had a significant amount of experience with Democracy during this era. This paper examines the political culture of Wilhelmine Germany and the parliamentisation of the Reichstag in this period to assess the extent to which imperial Germany was practicing democracy . Perhaps the strongest argument in favour of democratic tendencies in imperial Germany is the remarkably high voting participation of the period. When Bismarck granted suffrage to all men over the age of 25 for the direct election of an imperial Reichstag, he intended to mobilize the German people without causing any real change. However, throughout the whole of Europe, public education, military conscription, and growth of the popular press was changing the relationship people had with the state. Consequently, there was a sharp increase electoral participation in the years following the introduction manhood suffrage. Among eligible voters, voting rose from 52% in 1871 to 85% in 1912. Voters not only turned out in high percentages, but were habitual and consistent in the Reichstag elections that took place every three years. Sheri Berman argues that elections must have been seen as meaningful, otherwise the German people would not have bothered to turn out in such high numbers. In addition to high participation rates, a high percentage of the population was represented in elections relative to other great powers in this period. Whereas all men eligible to vote were automatically registered in Germany, one third of the male population in Britain was precluded from voting. In the United States, the need for voluntary registration in addition to discrimination against African Americans led to only half of males of voting age participating in elections. Still, critics of this outlook point to voting attitudes in addition to political intimidation and manipulation during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sigmund Freud invented Psychoanalysis, which is the theory and therapy of treating people who suffer from nervous disorders by researching the unconscious mind that makes us repress or push our urges and desires. From Psychoanalysis, stems Psychosexual development, which believe that from birth humans experience sxual energy going through five stages in their life. This theory could have inspired the two researchers between the late 1950s and early 1960s, William H. Masters and his partner, Virginia E. Johnson. Does Hite highlight the flaws in the Human Sexual Response? Therefore, Masters and Johnson s human sexual cycle is accurate because it efficiently sorts the physiological changes for all creatures. We found that the equivalence point of the titration of hydrochloric acid with sodium hydroxide was not within the ph range of phenolphthalein s color range. The titration of acetic acid with sodium hydroxide resulted in an equivalence point out of the range of methyl red. And the titration of ammonia with hydrochloric acid had an equivalence point that was also out of the range of phenolphthalein.. • 8. Process Description Of Object Oriented Programming PROCESS DESCRIPTION OF OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING Introduction Object Oriented Programming is a programming paradigm emphasized on objects which consists of data attributes and methods (Lewis; Loftus). Data attributes are comparable to nouns while methods are comparable to verbs in English. For instance, a person represented by object, has name, age, and gender as its data attributes. The person will be able to think, speak, and write with the representation of methods in the object. The main purpose of learning Object Oriented Programming is to create programs that are maintainable and scalable. Maintainability is essential for programmers to understand the codes in a program. Therefore, the codes have to be concise and clear. Moreover, programs need to be easy to upgrade to accommodate changes in real world. Hence, we need to have the capability to build a program on another program. Object Oriented Programming enables programmers to program by modeling the real world instead of defining the logic of how the world works. It focuses more on what makes up an object rather than what the object does. Programmers can focus on creating small components or objects, and group them together based on their relationships to build a larger object, which can be built upon again in future. The process of developing the paradigm consists the following steps: Encapsulation, Inheritance, Data Abstraction, and Polymorphism. Discussion Encapsulation Encapsulation is an ... • 9. Essay On Adolf Hitler Adolf Hitler s Leadership Some people are good, even great leaders, but horrible people. Adolf Hitler was a great representation of this, he had lead Germany out of the worst depression ever. Later on he would take a democratic government out of office. He would even take over all of Europe and he was not even from Germany. He took a pathetic group in the Nazis/German Workers Party, and made them into a powerhouse a force to be reckoned with. But then he had killed millions of innocent people based on their appearance their religion which was horrible he even killed himself, not only did he kill millions of people he would also kill his family members when they wouldn t help him with his problems. Adolf Hitlerwas born in 1889 in a country called Austria near Germany, his father died when he was 13 of a stroke as he said in his book Mein Kampf. He applied for an art school 2 times getting rejected both of them. After he got the second time he was running out of options so he went to be in the army nearly everyone died making him a corporal in the mists of the very first World War. He would later after the as most people know become the leader of the Nazi partyand a dictator of Germany. His political views were much like modern day politics. He would use lots of propaganda and blame the Jews, Communists, Weimar Republic and much more. At the time the world was in a recession also better known as The Great Depression. His reason for these political views are impossible to say for sure but one of the suspected reasons was the art school he applied to 2 times was a mainly Jewish school. Also when he lived in Vienna about 9% of the 2 million people that lived there were Jewish and the were still very Antisemitism. The Nazi party was formed by a man named Anton Drexler. It was founded in February 24 1920. They were also known as the German workers party. Adolf Hitler would not become leader until 1921 although being part of the party since it was first started. Two unique holidays celebrated in the states are Halloween and Christmas. The two holidays differ in tradition and decoration, but occur roughly during the same time of year. Halloween originated from a festival of the northern European culture. This holiday and the ideas that tie along with the concept of Halloween were brought to the United States from the Celts. The Celts believed that on October 31 ghosts would return from the dead and back to earth. In the European culture Halloween is a time where spirits care able to come into contact with the real world. This day was called Samhian. Traditions such as costumes and trick or treating. (1) Frequencies of alleles available in the gene pool for that population are subject to change when evolution takes place, and one or more alleles can sometimes vanish. Populations with fewer organisms often experience more substantial genetic drift, due to the fact that if there is less of an allele in a gene pool during a generation, there is a higher risk that a large amount of that allele will be removed just due to random chance genetic drift. (4) It is important to note that the final population during the frequent disasters trial became 243 from an original 4000 when one of the alleles ( a ) was lost. This is considered a population bottleneck (4) where the population decreased by a significant amount. In a situation like this, there are fewer alleles available in the gene pool of that population for that generation, so there is a bigger chance that genetic drift will accidently cause the loss of a substantial portion of one of the alleles, driving it to discontinuation. ... Denson describes three different types of rumination at the cognitive level: content focus, mode of processing, and the vantage perspective. The content focus of rumination is either provocation focused or self focused. Provocation focused rumination is concerned with the incident that angered them (e.g. the person who insulted them and leads to increased thoughts of anger and revenge. Put the functional account of angry rumination into your own words, so it s clear that you understand it. Also, what do you think about the idea of collective rumination? The functional account of angry rumination suggests that angry rumination is an adaptive by product anger and self awareness. Angry rumination may be helpful because ruminating postpones a person from making rash anger fueled decisions when confrontation may be risky until a time that it is safe to take action. It may also prevent forgiveness, which makes it easier to take action again wrong doers. Physiological outcomes of angry rumination support that this type of rumination is preparing the body for physical action, such as revenge. Self focused rumination and self critical emotion may also cause a person to change their behavior for the better in order to fit with societal norms and expectations. I believe collective rumination has a good basis. Each era has its own characteristics, the development of scientific knowledge has a big influence on them. When a scientific expression method was taken for the first time, it became a trend and the same method and expression method were adopted for many art objects. That trend also became a characteristic of that era. By using scientific knowledge development and analysis, art objects became more realistic. In the Renaissance era, the line perspective has been used for paintings since around the 15th century. The perspective technique developed from architectural industry. We re not asking the voice to do anything that it really doesn t want to do, and it s naturally dramatic (Greenberg). The homophonic music accompanies Susanna s aria, but does not over power her voice; it is simple. The changing rhythms and dynamics express Susanna s emotions as music during the Enlightenment was considered akin to the motions of the human soul, from which it follows that music is able to apprehend and convey the impulses and moods of the human soul (Lang 96). Many people looking to start a family in the United States are turning to international adoptions because the process is easier than adopting within this country. However, many of these adoptive parents are not ready for the challenges of adopting a child from another country. Not only are the adoptive parents and the children at different levels of readiness to attach but the child is forced into a new culture as well. Many of the children adopted internationally have been mistreated prior to adoption and as a resulting have great difficulty forming attachments with their adoptive parents. It is difficult for these internationally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A number of children when adopted come to the United States with nothing from their cultural pasts and must face the anti immigrant sentiment that is prevalent in our society. Many adopted children are mourning the loss of their cultural context in many ways that adoptive parents and practitioners are not prepared to deal with. Although the number of international adoptions are increasing in the United States there have been few studies focusing on the adjustment, identity, and attachment of international adoptees. There is very little research on adult adoptees and the ethnic/cultural socialization and identity developmental process. According to Freidlander (1999), most of the available research considers self esteem or adjustment of adopted children, not the process by which they begin forming an understanding and acceptance of their identity. This topic merits attention in the research field so this study proposes to understand the adoptive experience of internationally adopted adults in terms of their identity development, attachment experience, and adaptation to life in an American family. A qualitative interview approach will be used while interviewing internationally adopted adults to understand the complex experience of adoption and how one adapts to this experience. This study is developed in hopes to inform prospective adoptive families and mental health practitioners of the experiences and challenges faced by international adoptees so they are ... • 26. Present Day In American Culture This essay has had a deliberate focus on gnomic, historical quotes in order to emphasise the importance of the past. In truth, however, so much of history is unrecorded, so many lines of it unrecorded. Without archaeology, all information on proto historic civilisations would only be from written accounts, and there would be no information whatsoever on prehistoric civilisations. Archaeology can even serve to explain modern trends. The present day has been influenced so much by the pastthat the two are inextricably linked, and learning about the past can tell so much about the present today. Equally, so much about the past can be explained using present rituals. Some Native Americans have traditions that can be traced back thousands of years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Role Of Algorithmic Media On Audiences And Society Algorithmic media have a kind of power, however this power largely remains invisible to the audience or user who instead interact with the information that the algorithm sorts and delivers. Instead where this power manifests and consolidates is on platforms that draw the attention of audiences and revolve around the role played by algorithms. Using institutional theory, automodernity, and the concept of algorithmic publics, we can start to map out a growing and potential field of research that attempts to measure and explore the growing role and influence of algorithmic media on audiences and therefore society. Especially when in the form of platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc. Tarleton Gillespie (2010) is a vocal critic of the evolving relationship between the new media industries and their audiences, in particular drawing issue with the use of the word platform , arguing that it provides a false vision of technical neutrality and progressive openness (360) when the reality is quite the opposite. Rather than regard platforms as a level playing field we should instead regard them as what they are, slanted towards the interests of the owner, serving specific commercial needs and interests. Gillespie argues in a later paper (2015) that platforms exercise considerable power in their ability to make interventions, whether that involves shaping how the platforms are used, or more importantly deleting content or users of the platform itself. David Rosenhan s experiment of whether psychiatrists could accurately diagnose mental stability was the catalyst for her own experiment. Her quest to see if Rosenhan s experiment can be duplicated, clearly shows her mental stability is questionable. I believe the psychiatrists in her experiment may have accurately diagnosed her. In the original experiment by David Rosenhan, he wanted to show that the social control wielded by psychiatrists was not backed up by skills of accurate diagnosis. Along with eight other colleagues, he tried to infiltrate mental hospitals. To get in, they were to present with a voice saying thud. After being admitted, if they were, they were to behave typically to see if they would be exposed as impostors (Slater 63). To begin the experimenters grew out their hair and stopped showering for a couple of days. They learned to avoid unnecessary ingestion of medication by cheeking pills. The participants showed up at mental hospitals and told them their symptom. If they were checked in, they were to let the staff know that the voice had stopped and they were ok. All of the experimenters were admitted, diagnosed and held for various periods of time. The diagnoses for the fake patients were schizophrenic psychosis for eight of them, and manic depressive psychosis for one. During their stays they were treated the same as the ... Due to such abundance of knowledge, being unaware of a society or culture is common. However, having the wrong idea of a culture or a community could potentially be a devastating problem. In fact, this is a prevalent problem as false lies about communities are easily spread out to group of people, the so called fake news problem. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichieis an Nigerian author who addresses this problem in her TED Talk at Oxford, England. She asserts that single stories of a place/community can create a critical misunderstanding. Moreso, the problem is more pervasive than previously thought. They are not necessarily harmful yet pervasive. For example, subtle stereotypes such as all Asians only want to be engineers and doctors or every college dropout is an utter failure. Due to such pervasiveness and consequences, open mindedness is of utmost importance in order to have a peaceful and a more understanding world or in author s terms, When we realize that there is never a single story about any place, we will regain a kind of paradise . It has been taken by conquering peoples as spoils of war, put to material re use, and been subject to iconoclasm. Iconoclasm has been used as a means of not only purposeful forgetting, but, also the preservation of memory as a warning to others motivated diversely by ideology, religion, and politics. One artifact subject to iconoclasm is the painted portrait of Septimius Severusand his family in which one face was scraped out leaving the other three members untouched for political reasons and a demonstration of power. Another artifact affected by iconoclasm is a famous Byzantine icon, the Virgin Hodegetria, which was taken to be the Virgin and Christ Child by western Europe for religious purposes. Breaking the image in this figurative manner gave little to no meaning to the original icon and stole its value in history. Another victim of iconoclasm is a panel that once belonged to an arch of Marcus Aurelius that now adorns the arch of Constantine (Elsner, p. 212).
