Introductory Statement:
This running record was on the book, Me and My Dog, which is a green 2 level text
and was read by a 6 year old student. This report will analyze and discuss this students
processing and comprehension strategies used throughout the running record, and
how they can develop further with their reading abilities.
Analysis:
All though out the running record, the student used the processing strategy of self
correction and cross checking. This is shown through the use of repetition of words
and sentences, which shows the student was able to realize that there was a mismatch
between what they read and the print (Ministry of Education, 1996). Therefore, while
the student may not be reading for meaning at this stage they are still able to use the
processing strategy of cross checking and confirming to ensure what they are reading
makes sense.
It was evident throughout the running record that the student was relying on prior
knowledge to a large extent, because the student states halfway through I forget this
book . The student also says a few words around the wrong way, for example,
barking, bouncing , instead of bouncing, barking . This shows that the student was

posing. The banking concept of education is when teachers make deposits which the

You are going to have a baby, how exciting! Whether or not this is your first
pregnancy, it can be a bit nerve racking. How can you best prepare for baby s
arrival? Are there things that can be done to minimize fears and frustrations of
being ready? As a parent you want the best for your child, the following list, though

Girls
Movies are bound to share certain similarities and differences. Reoccurring themes,
character archetypes, familiar settings, and recycled plots are elements that are
consistently repeated in films; however, every film has individual components in
which audiences are able to relate to and interpret in separate perspectives. Two
different movies that share common similarities include the 1988 black comedy
Heathersand the 2004 teen comedy Mean Girls. Although the movies Heathers and
Mean Girls take place in different decades, they are both cult classics, contain iconic
quotes and characters, and involve cliques with four members eventually revolving
around a single member of the group.
A difference between the two films, would be that they take place in separate
decades. Since Heathers takes place in the 1980s, certain elements including fashion,
language, and culture, are significantly different from those featured in Mean Girls.
In Heathers, the main characters are seen wearing oversized blazers and shoulder
pads, while the girls in Mean Girls sported early 2000s fashion including velour
tracksuits and jeans. The pop culture references in both films vary greatly as well
since both decades have distinctive artists, movies, and figures that were considered

Molly Ivins s Get a Knife, Get a Dog, but get Rid of Guns is the authors personal
opinion on how guns should be banned from public use; she argues guns only kill
that it would be safer to carry a knife or get a dog to protect us. She uses the Second
Amendment to back up her argument about guns being only for the well trained
militia. The claim of the argument is Guns are a Danger, so it s safer to get a knife
