As we discussed in lecture, a sociocultural lens evaluates an individual from the outside in, in
opposed to the developmental lens, which looks from the inside out. While viewing the film for a
second time, I paid particular attention to aspects relating to the sociocultural lens. I noticed the
social and cultural factors which influenced Olive as supposed to the biological and cognitive
factors. I found myself taking note of events that impacted Olive as opposed to ways that Olive
impacted events. Focusing in on the sociocultural aspects while rewatching the film, made it easier
for me to draw upon appropriate examples to support my points regarding power, identity contexts
