Cuban Missle Crisis Essay
Cuban Missle Crisis
Many agree that the Cuban Missile Crisis was the closest the world ever came to nuclear war; but
exactly how close did it come? The Crisis was ultimately a showdown between the United States
and the Soviet Union from October 16 to October 28, 1962. During those thirteen stressful days,
the world s two biggest superpowers stood on the brink of a nuclear catastrophe. The Crisis started
as a result of both the Soviet Union s fear of losing the arms race, and Cuba s fear of US invasion.
The Soviet Premier, Nikita Khrushchev, thought that both problems could easily be solved by
placing Soviet medium range missiles in Cuba. This deployment would double the Soviet arsenal
and protect Cuba from US invasion. Khrushchev ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
did, in fact, have more missiles than the Soviet Union. What worried Khrushchev the most,
though, was that the Soviet missiles were only powerful enough to be launched against Europe,
but the US missiles were capable of striking the entire Soviet Union. He worried that if the Soviet
Union lost the arms race that badly, it would invite a nuclear attack from the US. Khrushchev
needed a way to counter the United State s lead. (May 49) In April of 1962, Soviet Premier Nikita
Khrushchev came up with the idea of installing medium range missiles in Cuba. Cuba was close
enough to the United States that the Soviet missiles would be an effective deterrent to a potential
US attack against either the Soviet Union or Cuba. Castro accepted Khrushchev s offer, since it
would protect Cuba and, therefore, solve Castro s previous dilemma. In mid July of 1962, the
Soviet Union began its buildup of offensive weapons in Cuba. The Soviets spent most of the late
summer and early fall of 1962 ferrying launch equipment and personnel necessary for the
preparation of missiles to Cuba. Since they could not use military ships (for fear of being
discovered) the Soviets used civilian vessels. However, even with this caution, their actions were
detected. As the US monitored the suddenly increased shipping activity to Cuba, rumors started in
Washington. On August 10, John McCone, director of the CIA, sent the President a letter stating
his belief that the Soviets were placing MRBMs in Cuba.

This is the special alchemy of Merger and Acquisitions. When two firms, often about the same
size, agree to go forward as a new single company rather than remain separately owned and
operated, a merger happens. Mergers facilitate synergies between the merged companies, generate
efficiency, competitiveness, and increase the economies of scale, spreading costs, acquiring new
technology over a large customer base. By this Research paper I have attempted implications of the
successful merger from July 05, 2000 till date in Glaxo Wellcome with Smith Kline Beecham.
GlaxoSmithKline plc is a leading research based pharmaceutical company of the world, has had a

Rhetoric Making Sense Of Human Interaction-Making
Rhetoric: Making Sense of Human Interaction and Meaning Making
Explain what the term epistemic means. What is the difference if rhetoric is epistemic versus if it is
not?
Epistemic is understanding our perception to certain aspects in our daily lives. It is knowledge that
we acquire because of our experiences and what we have lived. Rhetoric is just like a technique of
persuasion, writing effectively, and it is about how we think and how we can change our thoughts.
Therefore, rhetoric is not epistemic if we do not actually understand why we think the way we do.
Does the rhetorical principle help you better understand why the discussion is happening as it is?

Rhetorics is basically speaking or writing effectively. It is the study of writing or speaking with
the purpose of trying to influence or persuade. The purpose of studying rhetoric is to achieve
that they audience see, feel, believe and think what we want based in our writing. However,
obtaining this goal is not that simple, one has to comprehend that we all think differently based
on how we were raised or base in our knowledge. Rhetoric in knowing how to create a successful

result, the citizens will not be persuaded to vote and the candidate will lose the elections. Rhetoric

Junior s Identity Overpowers The Identity Of Indian Identity
Victor Vernick 1st Period Mr. Kupersmith Wednesday 6, December 2017 At this point in the
novel, I think Junior is more identified with his Caucasian side because he is now officially a
student at Reardan where there s all white kids. For once in his life, Junior has a chance to be
somebody. Junior identifies with his Indian tribe in the sense that he lives on a reservation and
the fact that he comes from a poor family. I wish I were magical, but I am really just a poor ass
reservation kid living with his poor ass family on the poor ass Spokane Indian Reservation (7).
Junior identifies with his Caucasian side because he goes to an all white school and because of
his intelligence. Petrified wood is not wood (84). Junior then goes on to explain how it works
and the smartest kid in the class, Gordy, explains that he is right when the teacher doesn t
believe him. Junior s Caucasian identity overpowers his Indian identity because Caucasians in
general are more privileged and are smarter than the kids at Junior s old school, Welpinit. Based
off many aspects of Junior s conditions and ethnic background, other people and Junior have
expectations of what his future will look like. An internal expectation that Junior has of himself
is that he will follow the continuing cycle of his family. He believes he ll never be able to go after
his dreams in life and live on a reservation forever. But we reservation Indians don t get to realize
our dreams. We don t get those chances. Or

Abstract
In common metabolic biochemistry human burns fuel (food) and generate energy. This energy is
responsible off doing all types of processes of her body. Human body work in a very complex way
when there is a demand on working muscles. During running so many changes are noticeable in
human body. Those changes are faster heartbeat, sweating, hurting of muscles and very fast and
deep breathing. These things consider normal doing marathon run. In order for runners to run
marathon they have to train their body with hours of training. These trainings prepare their

Glucose for pyruvate is generated by glycogenolysis, which is a process breaking down glycogen
to glucose. Glycogen is stored sugar in our muscles. Due to the buildup lactate muscles get tired
and the anaerobic glycolysis last only for couple of minutes.
From there on another pathway become available. As mentioned above during running, our heart
beat get faster and we breathe hard this result more oxygen to our muscles by bloodstream. After
our muscle cells get enough oxygen the aerobic pathway get activated. In the presence of oxygen
ATP can be a generated again by citric acid cycle and oxidative Phosphorylation. During the long
race, runners should not go over speed. Keeping a consistent speed just under anaerobic threshold
can avoid muscles fatigue. According to Blann, the anaerobic threshold is defined as the level of
exercise intensity at which lactic acid builds up in the body faster than it can be cleared away. For
this reason, it is also sometimes called the lactate threshold .
During long race burning the fatty acid from fat is very effective ( ). When human body burn one
gram of fat, it generate more than double calories then compare to burning of one gram of
carbohydrates. Marathon runners can use store fat and run for several days. Even though burning
fat look good source of energy, it cannot reach

The Chrysanthemums Symbolism
How can a flower simply represent the personality of a person? Chrysanthemum comes from the
Greek prefix of chrys meaning golden and anthemion meaning flower. John Steinbeck s short story
discusses the life of Elisa Allen, an advocate for gardening with an internal want for a more
fulfilling life. The chrysanthemum is an ironic flower to use in this story because the
chrysanthemum is a symbol of optimism and joy, which is lacking in Elisa s life. Steinbeck brings
the theme of genderinequality to the surface by using the symbols of the chrysanthemums and the
Salinas Valley as representations of different feelings and emotions in Elisa s life. In John Steinbeck
s The Chrysanthemums , the chrysanthemums themselves represent Elisa and... Show more content

The chrysanthemums symbolize Elisa s life and how society has forbidden her to be anything
other than a housewife or something within the boundaries of her home. When Elisa offers the
Tinker her chrysanthemums, she was also offering herself because she saw herself as one with
her flowers. When the tinker tosses her flowers on the road this mimics the way he rejects her
and the way society has rejected women. The flowers, just like women, are seen as merely
decorations, not something that can be daring. The chrysanthemums like women are golden, but
golden only in regards to looks, nothing more. When Elisa tells the Tinker she can fix pots and
would love to live the life that he had, he says It ain t the right kind of a life for a woman. Women
are supposed to be housewives and mothers. Even though Elisa wants a more thrilling life, she
follows in the footsteps of a traditional housewife. She laid out her husband s clothes and ran his
bath water because she knows that is her place, even if she disagrees with it. The Salinas tie
themselves to the theme because they limit the potential of Elisa s life just as society does. The
valley keeps Elisa within the confinement of her quaint life. The two men in Steinbeck s story,
Henry and the Tinker, do not notice the intelligence, beauty, and potential that Elisa has just as
society does not see it either. Steinbeck uses

Family Farm Research Paper
In this essay I m going to write about how different markets in the world are linked together. I am
going to talk about how in my life different markets are related on our family farm. In the
farming business and agriculture field in general, there is so many markets that can be linked in
so many ways it is crazy. The process is literally endless with buying, selling, feeding, caring for,
protecting and many others. I m just going to start off with the raising animal s aspect. We raise
beef cows and calves, pigs and run a steer finishing lot. The beginning process with the animals is
actually buying them to start your business. You could buy the cows at the local cattle auction and
raise them to become your own. In the process of raising these... Show more content on

Now you been raising these animals for the last 12 15 months. You have invested so much money
in them and that is why you are now going to take them to the market and sell them for a profit.
Obviously you are trying to sell these animals for a higher price than what you bought them at. In
the cattle market the price are so up and down because of other factors in the economy.
There are so many other thing that are related to raising animals. All the equipment and building
needed to raise them. There fields of where they came from, how they were built and how they got
where they are. The veterinary bills for surprising accidents. The electricity, machinery need for
transporting and planting/harvesting, and so many others things that you can t even imagine.
The whole process of linked things in our world is really endless. You don t ever really realize
how and why everything is connected, but it is in some shape or form. I narrowed it down to the
agriculture field because it is an important area of our interactive world. The agriculture field may
be a small part to some people but once they realize how the agriculture field is related to the rest
of the world they can understand the importance of

Essay On California Tax
California s tax code is unreasonable. It appears to be improving, with the rich paying higher tax
rates than the poor. However, the poorest are still paying the greatest fraction of their income to
the state because of sales taxes. Depending on local municipalities, state and local sales taxes can
reach 9.25% in many cities and can be as high as 10.0%.
Many companies and businesses have already left California to escape high corporate income taxes.
They ve relocated to states without income tax, where they can save up to 13% more of their
income. The seven U.S. states with no income tax (Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas,
Washington and Wyoming) have become a beacon for growth. They re outperforming California in

This is a proposal to reform California s taxes. Instead of taxing Californians businesses, which can
just simply relocate to another state, California should tax mainly what can never leave its borders
its real estate. In addition, California should stop state income and sales taxes.
This is a very feasible proposal. Many states like Texas and Florida have no income tax and lower
sales tax, but higher property taxes at 2% to 3%, compared to California s property tax of 1%.
California s state tax revenue is comprised of 31.2% property taxes, 30.1% sales taxes, and
31.7% individual and corporate income taxes. If the property taxes were raised to 3% or 4% for
all property, including houses and commercial and investment real estate, sales and income taxes
will no longer be necessary.
Although tripling the property tax bill will alarm many, it will be compensated by no state sales
tax (highest at 10.0%) and income tax (highest rate at 13.3%). Eliminating the income tax will
increase take home pay for everyone. The state will appear more attractive than its neighboring
states and thus, draw new businesses, create jobs, and trigger an influx of talented workers. This
will then induce rising house demands as more people and companies relocate to California to reap
the tax benefits and will make up the expected decline in house

To maximise foreign exchange earnings efficiency, countries where imports are attained from
should be targeted for tourism promotion, so as to allow influx of there currency. E.g. if most of

This can be done by targeting Swiss tourists.

How Is Charles Darnay Selfish
Making decisions can t always be easy especially if there s consequences to your actions. Charles

The Blind Side Vs Night Analysis
One of they ways The Blind Side and Night are similar is that they share a common theme. The
theme is people make it threw obsetcles more easily when other people help them with it. One
main excample of this in both of the storys is that both of the characters face major obstcles
throught the story. An excample in The Blind Side, if that the main character Micheal Oher has to
face a diffulect situtation when he is a black kid and he has to go to a all white school.
Another excample from the book night is when Elie and all of the jews get everything taken away

them. My excample from the book Night is that it takes places in 1941 1945 in Germany and

Sighet the little town in Translyvana where i spent my childhood. (Wiesal 34). It says he grew

that the characters are different in the story. In The Blind Side it says Micheal Oher is a Black
student that is big and he is older then Elie. To support that, He s the biggest player anyone ever
seen. (Lewis 131). When Micheal walked into the all white school everyone looked at him
differently even the teacher. The teacher described him as big and black. In the book Night Elie
is different from MIcheal. In the book Night it said that Elie was 15 years old which is younger
then Micheal. I also came to a conclusion that Elie in not as big as Micheal and that he is white.

Small Business Deductions
If you own your own small business, you know about deducting your business expenses. To be
deductible, the Internal Revenue Service says an expense needs to be both ordinary and
necessary. An ordinary expense is one that is common and accepted in your trade or business. A
necessary expense is one that is helpful or appropriate for your trade or business. An expense
does not have to be indispensable to be considered necessary. But unless you are meticulous
about keeping your receipts and thinking about your business, you may miss many small
deductions that can really add up by the end of the year. For instance, think about your car. You
probably try to keep track of the mileage you drive your car for business appointments. But do
you also keep track of the mileage you drive to the bank, to the post office, or to the office supply
store? These miles can really add up. You should also consider how you can make regular errands

avenue. You just happened to pick up lunch while you were there. See how easy it can be?
Because it s easier, most small business owners just take the standard mileage deduction. But in
some instances, it makes more sense to deduct your actual expenses, especially if you start your
business while driving an older car which needs some bigger maintenance expenses during the
year. You should consider keeping track of these other expenses so you can compare your tax

The Importance Of Misogyny In American Culture
I think internalized misogyny in American culture is detrimental to all genders, but especially
women. The objectification of women in media, culture, and daily life has proven harmful to the
opportunities and livelihoods of women. Once women are no longer viewed, as whole and valid
human beings, the subsequent rampant abuse and mistreatment imposed on them is rationalized
and accepted by society. I consider myself pro women, aligning myself with pro choice and anti
abuse movements, due to my partialities on the subject.
The most obvious source of towards my bias is the fact I m a woman, so the consequences of
sexism affect me directly. I suppose the intrinsic value of self preservation causes me to advocate
against it, since I would rather avoid experiencing the repercussions associated with misogyny than
face them firsthand. Combating society s oppressive attitudes increases my relative quality of life,
so one could consider my support for women s rights as a selfish endeavor. Branched off my own
personal attempt at self sustainability, is my willingness to empathize with other women. I hold the
tendency to deeply value women s rights because I recognize the struggles inflicted by the
patriarchal culture and society common to all women. I appreciate the quality of empathy because
it s important in all human relationships. I despise systematic sexism, because of its direct influence
on me, and simultaneously realize that I am a small entity among a small subsection of the

The Magdalen With The Smoking Flame Summary
The Magdalen with the Smoking Flame is a work of art done by Georges De La Tour. It was
completed in the year 1640 using oil paint on canvas in France, and it is now located at the Los
Angeles County Museum of Art. This painting is of a woman, possibly pregnant, sitting leaning
on a table her head rested on one hand. She also has a skull on her lap and the other hand placed
on it. In the back ground there is a small stack of books and candlelight. More than anything on this
painting, it is focused on the woman state of mindand heart rather than the skull or anything else.
The simple arrangement of how the artist used vertical and horizontal shapes draws the viewer
really close into the Magdalen s thoughts. The skull and the books purpose is to set the mood in
what the woman might be feeling. The focal point of the entire painting seems to be the candle
because not only is it bright, but the woman is gazing profoundly into it. Everything in the
painting is smoothed surface. The painter did not use texture in the paint but only in very few
areas like in the oil of the candle. The tones in this painting are warm. There are a lot of browns
and ambers. A few cool colors were used to define the shadows of the shapes with blue. The
attentiongetter is the candle light. It s almost hard to ignore because it is so bright. The second
brightest thing in the painting is the woman s shirt, but even that is not as bright because of all the
shadows and creases in it. Another reason why

Essay on The Debate Over Birds and Feathered Dinosaurs
The Debate Over Birds and Feathered Dinosaurs Because dinosaurs are animals that lived
millions of years ago, we are entirely dependent on the fossils that they have left behind for any
understanding that we hope to gain. As any paleontologist will tell you, fossil hunting is difficult.
There are no certainties, no guarantees. A certain amount of luck is as valuable as any scientific
knowledge. Every so often a discovery is made that attempts to shake up pre conceived notions of
how the dinosaurs actually lived or how they came to be. On June 22, 2000, in Oregon, scientists
announced the discovery of the oldest known animal to have feathers. Though no records indicate
how the age of the animal was determined, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, those that actually subscribe to the feathered Longisquama theory are a decided
minority in the paleontological community. The detractors of Nonavian Feathers in a Late
Triassic Archosaur believe that the feather like impressions in the fossil are not even feathers at
all. Based on the angle and shape of the imprints, many paleontologists believe that they were
left by highly modified scales , or possibly even ferns that had fallen on the animal s body after
death.4 Disregarding the feathers of Longisquama, and therefore disregarding its link to
Archaeopteryx, these scientists still fully support the dinosaur bird link. As mentioned before,
the extreme majority of paleontologists still subscribe to this idea. A recent discovery in the
western region of China seems to clarify the link between dinosaurs and birds. Living at roughly
the same time as Archaeopteryx, Sinovenator changii is very closely related to the bird yet is
classified as a dinosaur.5 This discovery is widely regarded as very good evidence that dinosaurs
and birds share evolutionary traits, and disputes the assertion that they are unrelated; as made by
those that support the feathered Longisquama findings. As if this finding wasn t enough, other
feathered dinosaurs have been discovered in the same region of China. Protarchaeopteryx and
Caudipteryx zoui lived about 125 and 145 million years

Letter To Birmingham Jail Rhetorical Analysis
Martin Luther King Jr., the author of Letter to Birmingham Jail, that was written in 1963, uses
many rhetorical strategies throughout his letter;. Additionallyconsequently, he uses these
strategies to get his points across. For example,The rhetorical devices he employsuses are
repetition, he uses ethos, and he uses rhetorical questions. During the time he gave his speech,
was during the time of the Civil Rights Movement. Furthermore, segregation was happening, and
racial discrimination between blacks and whites is commonplace.were not treated equally. King
uses d rhetorical strategies in order to emphasize what he was most passionate about; he was his
passionate about equality and nonviolent protestings, for he was a black himself. He usesd his
letter in order to bring about make a change. Therefore, he needed to really get the listeners
attention. First of all, Martin Luther King Jr. usesd a rhetorical strategy of repetition. King is
known for his use of repetition, reference his I Hhave a Dream speech. Furthermore, r Repetition
is used to get his your point across, and to make the reader remember it. In the letter heit states,
Was not Jesus an extremist for love, and Was not Amos an extremist for justice, and again it
says, Was not Paul an extremist for the Christian Gospel. King uses the was not and an extremist
to apply effect on the situation. He wants to apply the emphasis on how these key figures in
history were extremist, just like him. Again in this letter, Martin Luther King Jr. s uses reptition
in his quote again, King sayings, let him march, let him make prayer pilgrimages to the city hall,
let him go on freedom rides. Martin Luther King Jr. uses the words let him to intensify the fact
that the people should just let the Negro protest. Martin Luther King Jr. says to just let the Negro
be, King statesquotes, if his repressed emotions are not released in nonviolent ways, they will seek
expression through violence. Therefore,So Martin Luther King Jr. wants to make sure he informs
the people, to either let them protest peacefully or there will be violence. Since King, is a very

Hawaii Language Essay
As a child, around the age of five, I became friends with the children of a family that had just moved
to our neighborhood from Hawaii. The parents would occasionally make statements in a language
that the children could not speak. I realize now that they were making these statements in Hawaiian,
although they did not speak the language fluently, and their children did not speak the language at
all. Unfortunately, this loss of language from one generation to the next has been quite common in
Hawaiisince the early nineteen hundreds when the influence of the United Statesresulted in
institutionalized language death.
Hawaiian language, also known as ЕЊlelo Hawai I, is a Marquesic language related to other
Oceanic languages of the Eastern Malayo Polynesian group in the Austronesian language family.
Hawaiian is a language with no known dialects, however, some linguists note that there is a
slight distinction between Hawaiian spoken throughout the islands, and Hawaiian spoken at the
university. The language is named, Hawaiian, after the group of islands where it was first
developed and recognized; Hawaii is a volcanic archipelago located in the Central Pacific, hence
the language relation to other Oceanic languages (UCLA, Language Materials Project). Previous
to the influence of the United States, there were a reported 400,000 to 800,000 Native Hawaiian
speakers living in Hawaii. Hawaiian developed as a solely oral language, with a rich tradition of
storytelling and music.

Beyond Katrina Poem Analysis
It is pretty poignant, yet honest to say that the hurricane Katrina has long derived an almost
obsessional attention from Natasha writer. In Beyond Katrina: A meditation of the Mississippi Gulf
Coast , Tretheway has purposely pictured the devastation scenario from witnesses narratives; hence
her story could speak for many stories of people who are less visible, whom we cannot see
struggling against the aftermath the stories we may not know about how tenacious the return of
Gulf Coast communities was from those tremendous sufferings they miserably faced up to. From a
personal, yet natural perspective, Tretheway chose to form the portrait of the Gulfport district over
the years by mixing poets, prose, handwritten letters and a few childhood photographs. Without a
doubt, poems, coupe with prose, have successfully flesh out this tragic anecdote, though requiring
individual interpretations and a deep understanding of the author s perception. In this sense, my
own analysis allows me to pick three poems, which altogether hold an ultimately general theme: the
powerful return of Gulf Coast society through memorization, reflection and above all, recovery. It is
pretty strange when Tretheway has not been ridden out the storm at that time, yet her ability to
extend that empathy to the local residents is undeniable. Thetheway refacts all the deaths and
bodies washed away (65) through the lens of witnesses her family and the whole community with

The Stereotypes Of `` Stuff Asian People Like `` And The...
Asians are typically loud especially when we are on the phone because we do not take insights
of our surroundings. This is one of the biggest stereotypes about Asians out there. According to a
2008 online article called Stuff Asian People Like written by Peter; states that Asians tend to be
loud due to adversity. We were compared to the Anglo Saxon legend of Beowulf. Asians are
actually peaceful looking creatures who are soon to be evolved into creatures of such legends
like Beowulf . According to Peter, we are compared to Beowulf because when Asians tend to talk
loudly, it is as if we are screaming at the top of our lungs while trying to kill someone as
Beowulf; a barbaric warrior would do. Peter also states that Asians tend to speak out loud due to
the fact that we are stressed out in life. Peter is really basing this stereotype off of some kung fu
movie, because we all know it is true that when someone like Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee starts
fighting, they tend to pull out some loud grunts. Also the article states that we speak loudly
because we are not able to express our opinions due to communism laying a barrier on our world
and once we hit America, we are loud due to that barrier being lifted. What a big load of lies. I say
it is a lie because I used to visit my country of Vietnam back then, and Vietnam is a huge communist
country, yet I have seen many people especially other ethnic Asians visiting the country talking
extremely loud. Voicing opinions are one thing,

Within this conference space and CAS as a whole, I had finally found a home for my interests in the
decolonial politics of transnational and postcolonial feminism, politics of race and culture, and
narratives about animals agency and resistance. My presentation, A Transnational Feminist Critique
of the U.S. Slaughterhouse System, discussed how both the animals killed in slaughterhouses and
the undocumented workers employed there are exploited by animal agribusiness and relegated to
the margins of society. Inspired by Sara Ahmed s concept of the stranger, a paradoxical figure who
is perceived as strange due to their race and otherness, I argued that human and nonhuman others
are perceived as unlawful intruders due to both racism and speciesism. Thus, they are expelled from
the white, human, and civilized community to maintain social hierarchies and private property. The
presentation included a slide of a cow escaping from a slaughterhouse into an urban neighborhood.
Showing the complexity of human animal encounters, the cow, who was later named Molly, was
both removed as an unlawful intruder from the community into which she fled, but also invoked
public affection (a ballad honoring her can be found on youtube). A decolonial method of studying
animal resistance attempts to read documents from the perspective of nonhuman animals such as
Molly and recognizes the centrality of capitalist globalization and white human supremacy in
oppressive social

Sinclair s satire is seen here when he jokes that, Perhaps they had a secret process for making

Being more case specific to each injured worker, he painfully tells their story.
Schlosser goes on to denote the story of Kenny Dobbins, an employee of Monfort for almost
sixteen years. Kenny was unable to complete school and read, so he wound up working at a
meatpacking company called Monfort. Kenny was first placed to work in the shipping

Kenny was a strong man, and thought he could handle the tough work that his job required.
During an accident at work, Kenny was thrown onto the metal teeth of a conveyer belt. Kenny
sought medical treatment first through the company s doctor, who told him he had only pulled

The Department Of Juvenile Justice
The Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) appointed a new commissioner at the beginning of 1983,
at this time the department was facing many organizational issues. The state legislature had
previously passed legislation affecting the environment in which the organization operated affecting
the population it was originally intending to serve. Internally the DJJ faced many challenges
involving organizational goals, routines, engaged staff, and new leadership. It is recommended that
the organization take actions to adjust to the environment and align its goals with the new
legislature. The newly appointed commissioner should adjust her managementtowards a task
orientated leadership until the critical director and staff positions are fulfilled. Once the department
directors are in place, directives can be established to develop department routines. Hired
management can then enforce standard operation procedures as needed to optimize the
performance of the organization.
Service Population and State Regulation
A change in service population at Spofford was a result of new legislation passed in 1978. Public
concern and legislature in New York had a significant impact on the Department of Juvenile
Justice; Spofford was to absorb serious juvenile offenders due to the Juvenile Offender Act. This
resulted in a shift of the service population from status offender to include more serious juvenile
offenders (Varley, 1987, p. 6). This change in legislation and youth population

The Fulfillment Of The Abrahamic Covenant
The Pentatuach offers the reader hope in the fulfillment of the Abrahamic Covenant because
It all began in the covenant with Abraham, God promised many things to him. God promised
numerous descendants, land, and a relationship with him. God s first blessing would provide
Abraham with numerous descendants, which in turn would become a great nation. His second
blessing would provide him and his family with a place to call home. His third blessing states that
Abraham will have a relationship with God. This means that, anyone who blesses Abraham will be
blessed by God, anyone that curses him will be cursed. In return for all of these promises,
Abraham and all of his male members and descendants were circumcised to let God know that they
belong to him.
We can believe that the Abrahamic covenant would be fulfilled when, God called Abraham to
leave his country, relatives, and family to go to the land that he was going to be given. God said,
I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a
blessing to others. The land that the Lord took Abraham too, was the land that would be given to
him and his descendants. After Abraham was gone, his descendants would be in possession of the
land.
Abraham had a vision, where God promised to protect him. Abraham had a hard time believing that
him and his wife would ever have children. God told Abraham that the amount of descendants that
he would have, is equivalent to the amount of stars in the sky.

Militarism Against The Vietnam War
Songs often reflect or critique the ideologies of their time period. However, the songs are not
bound to the specific time period in which they are created because the ideologies they reflect or
critique are also not bound to a specific context. These residual ideologies are created in the past,
but still acting as an effective element of the present (Williams). The song Masters of War is a
song that falls into this category; in 1963, the song Masters of War was written by Bob Dylan as a
response to the antiwar movement against the Vietnam War, and in 2004, Pearl Jam applied the
antiwar sentiment of the song to the context of the war on terrorism. In both time periods, the

The terror attacks on September 11, 2001, introduced a new form of enemy and in response, the
government invoked the residual ideology of militarism to combat this enemy instead of turning
to an emergent ideology, or a new, creative way of facing this new enemy. The Bush
administration declared the war on terrorism and in solidarity with those affected by the terror
attacks, the public supported the government s actions (Foner). However, the enemy of this war
was loosely defined as those who hate freedom and the board definition included all terrorist
groups around the world that poses a threat to the Western world and the freedom it represents
(Foner). The first act of war under the war on terrorism was when the Taliban, the terrorist group
responsible for the tragedy on September 11, refused to give up its leader Osama bin Laden and the
United States responded with air strikes (Foner). To the public, this military action against
Afghanistan and the Taliban seemed justified because the Taliban was the group responsible for
the terror attacks. However, with the enemy so ambiguously defined and without a clear agenda,
the government was able to take free rein of the direction of the war and possible self interest
came into play. The government identified the axis of evil as Iraq, Iran, and North Korea, and
claimed that these three countries harbored weapons of mass destruction, or nuclear, chemical,
and biological weapons, and planned to use these weapons on the United States; this claim was
not supported by evidence (Foner). As the United States went to war with Iraq under this
unjustified accusation, dissent rose around the world and many suspected that the true intention
was to fight for control over the world s second largest oil reserves in Iraq (Foner). These antiwar
protests around the world set the context for Pearl Jam s 2004 cover of Masters of War on David

Using Moore s law, we will continue to get abundant transistors which only will be limited by the
amount of energy consumed. Energy efficiency can be improved to many orders of magnitude
with the help of Near Threshold Voltage (NTV). There are various Design techniques required for

Malic acid in the vinegar is able to dissolve the uric acid crystals within the joint and assist in
flushing them from the body. For an added boost add your ACV to tart cherry juice. Tart cherry
juice may be sour to taste, but it provides a higher number of anthocyanins compared to sweet
cherry juice. Anthocyanins promote anti inflammatory processes in the body according to
Healthline. This health combination also helps post workout recovery. Cherry juice is naturally
high in potassium, which triggers electrical impulses throughout the body.
Your acid reflux will go away
ACV may help prevent morning acid reflux from rearing its ugly head. Exercise can trigger
heartburn if your esophageal sphincter is weak or too relaxed. Or, if food or stomach acid burps
back up into your esophagus. All that moving and shaking with too much spicy foods, acidic
foods, sodas, coffee, chocolate and alcohol in your gut may be the catalyst. But ACV could help
improve acid reflux if you re not taking medications, and with minimal risk. A study from Arizona
State University found that raw or unfiltered apple cider vinegar may help prevent heartburn. It s
generally safe to consume a small amount of apple cider vinegar before your workout, but it
should be diluted with water suggests HealthLine. You can also add a little raw honey to the mix to

He explains, This is the West, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend. From a
historical perspective, this statement can be read as exhibited awareness of the West s
mythification. In this essay, I will show how the film additionally less explicitly draws attention to
the mythification of the West by representing elements of the West differently than how characters
imagine them. Because the film s narrative is conveyed as a frame tale, action takes place in two
different time periods. The opening scene mainly consists of desolate land with mountains in the
background. As train a train advances across the frame from right to left, it enters the foreground.
The vehicle serves two functions. Firstly, it brings Ransom and his wife, Hallie, to the Western
town of Shinbone so that they may attend Tom s wake. Mourning Tom provides the basis for the
framing narrative. Ransom initiates an embedded story, the tale of Liberty Valance s downfall,
while talking to reporters in Shinbone. The train s second, more symbolic function is its role as a
sign of modernity. As opposed to journeying by training in the

American English Consonant And Vowel Inventories
A contrast of the Arabic vs. American English consonant and vowel inventories. Abdullah
Alshahrani Southern Illinois University Carbondale Abdullah34f@gmail.com A contrast of the
Arabic vs. American English consonant and vowel inventories. Introduction According to
Hillenbrand (2003) and Thelwall and Sa Adeddin (1999), both the American English and Arabic
languages have diverse forms and dialects respectively. Thelwall and Sa Adeddin (1999), highlight
the two main spoken Arabic dialects as Al Shaam (spoken in the greater Syria) and Arabic spoken
in Egypt (mainly focused at the University in Cairo and the Al Azhar mosque). Hillenbrand (2003)
gives two examples of American English dialects as the southern California dialect, and the dialect
for the Northern cities comprising cities in the northeast inland of the USA. As such, the phonetic
characteristics between the various forms or dialects of a language may vary. One phonetic
characteristic that might vary is the pronunciation. While language or communication can be
written, speech communication remains one of the main ways in which human beings express
themselves. As such, correct pronunciation of words is essential in effective communication. A
breakdown of the pronounced words gives the individual components comprising of consonants and
vowels. As such, the understanding of consonants and vowels is critical to the correct
pronunciation of any word in any language. This paper focuses on

A Study Of Charles Darwin s Theory Of Evolution
Assessment
Charles Darwin first discovered the theory of evolution by natural selection, in 1858, alongside
Alfred Wallace. It is the process of which organisms change overtime as a result of heritable
physical and behaviour traits (Live science. 2016). Darwin s Theory states that individuals of a
certain species have variation between others in that certain specie. This is due to the differences in
the genes. The genes that allow an individual to survive in their environment are usually passed
down to the offspring, which causes little variation in the species (BBC. 2016). Evolution has many
supporting evidence and mechanisms that contribute to it.
Even though evolution is classified as a theory, it does have a lot of supporting evidence. ... Show

However over the years it has been put at risk due to climate change effects; rising sea temperature
and ocean acidification. If climate change continues to impact the biodiversity of the reef, it is
believed with supporting evidence that the reef may possibly die by 2030 (Greatbarrierreef.com.au.
2016).
Charles Darwin s theory of evolution by natural selection is the most commonly known theory.
There are many points of supporting evidence and mechanisms that contribute towards the theory
of evolution. The Great Barrier Reef is just one of many species that has had it evolutionary
process affected buy humans and the environment. If this continues to occur the Great Barrier Reef
will die of by 2030.
There are a numerous amount of meaningful interrelationships between the therioes of evolution
and the impacts on the Great Barrier reef from climate change on the evolutionary

how someone can become eternal. Yeats lived from 1865 to 1939; so this poem, which was
composed in 1926 at age 60, which reflects his fear about aging and becoming immaterial. The

of its well known history, a place of paradise and the only place where art and man can become a
single body. Thus, he hopes that by becoming an artificial object himself, he can setback the human

everything must one day meet an end. In the sentence That is no country for old men, the word that

  • 2. Cuban Missle Crisis Essay Cuban Missle Crisis Many agree that the Cuban Missile Crisis was the closest the world ever came to nuclear war; but exactly how close did it come? The Crisis was ultimately a showdown between the United States and the Soviet Union from October 16 to October 28, 1962. During those thirteen stressful days, the world s two biggest superpowers stood on the brink of a nuclear catastrophe. The Crisis started as a result of both the Soviet Union s fear of losing the arms race, and Cuba s fear of US invasion. The Soviet Premier, Nikita Khrushchev, thought that both problems could easily be solved by placing Soviet medium range missiles in Cuba. This deployment would double the Soviet arsenal and protect Cuba from US invasion. Khrushchev ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... did, in fact, have more missiles than the Soviet Union. What worried Khrushchev the most, though, was that the Soviet missiles were only powerful enough to be launched against Europe, but the US missiles were capable of striking the entire Soviet Union. He worried that if the Soviet Union lost the arms race that badly, it would invite a nuclear attack from the US. Khrushchev needed a way to counter the United State s lead. (May 49) In April of 1962, Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev came up with the idea of installing medium range missiles in Cuba. Cuba was close enough to the United States that the Soviet missiles would be an effective deterrent to a potential US attack against either the Soviet Union or Cuba. Castro accepted Khrushchev s offer, since it would protect Cuba and, therefore, solve Castro s previous dilemma. In mid July of 1962, the Soviet Union began its buildup of offensive weapons in Cuba. The Soviets spent most of the late summer and early fall of 1962 ferrying launch equipment and personnel necessary for the preparation of missiles to Cuba. Since they could not use military ships (for fear of being discovered) the Soviets used civilian vessels. However, even with this caution, their actions were detected. As the US monitored the suddenly increased shipping activity to Cuba, rumors started in Washington. On August 10, John McCone, director of the CIA, sent the President a letter stating his belief that the Soviets were placing MRBMs in Cuba. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For once in his life, Junior has a chance to be somebody. Junior identifies with his Indian tribe in the sense that he lives on a reservation and the fact that he comes from a poor family. I wish I were magical, but I am really just a poor ass reservation kid living with his poor ass family on the poor ass Spokane Indian Reservation (7). Junior then goes on to explain how it works and the smartest kid in the class, Gordy, explains that he is right when the teacher doesn t believe him. Junior s Caucasian identity overpowers his Indian identity because Caucasians in general are more privileged and are smarter than the kids at Junior s old school, Welpinit. Based off many aspects of Junior s conditions and ethnic background, other people and Junior have expectations of what his future will look like. An internal expectation that Junior has of himself is that he will follow the continuing cycle of his family. • 7. The Chrysanthemums Symbolism How can a flower simply represent the personality of a person? Chrysanthemum comes from the Greek prefix of chrys meaning golden and anthemion meaning flower. John Steinbeck s short story discusses the life of Elisa Allen, an advocate for gardening with an internal want for a more fulfilling life. The chrysanthemum is an ironic flower to use in this story because the chrysanthemum is a symbol of optimism and joy, which is lacking in Elisa s life. The chrysanthemums symbolize Elisa s life and how society has forbidden her to be anything other than a housewife or something within the boundaries of her home. When Elisa offers the Tinker her chrysanthemums, she was also offering herself because she saw herself as one with her flowers. When the tinker tosses her flowers on the road this mimics the way he rejects her and the way society has rejected women. The flowers, just like women, are seen as merely decorations, not something that can be daring. The chrysanthemums like women are golden, but golden only in regards to looks, nothing more. When Elisa tells the Tinker she can fix pots and would love to live the life that he had, he says It ain t the right kind of a life for a woman. Women are supposed to be housewives and mothers. Even though Elisa wants a more thrilling life, she follows in the footsteps of a traditional housewife. She laid out her husband s clothes and ran his bath water because she knows that is her place, even if she disagrees with it. The Salinas tie themselves to the theme because they limit the potential of Elisa s life just as society does. The valley keeps Elisa within the confinement of her quaint life. Eliminating the income tax will increase take home pay for everyone. This painting is of a woman, possibly pregnant, sitting leaning on a table her head rested on one hand. She also has a skull on her lap and the other hand placed on it. In the back ground there is a small stack of books and candlelight. More than anything on this painting, it is focused on the woman state of mindand heart rather than the skull or anything else. The simple arrangement of how the artist used vertical and horizontal shapes draws the viewer really close into the Magdalen s thoughts. The skull and the books purpose is to set the mood in what the woman might be feeling. The focal point of the entire painting seems to be the candle because not only is it bright, but the woman is gazing profoundly into it. Everything in the painting is smoothed surface. The painter did not use texture in the paint but only in very few areas like in the oil of the candle. The tones in this painting are warm. There are a lot of browns and ambers. A few cool colors were used to define the shadows of the shapes with blue. The attentiongetter is the candle light. It s almost hard to ignore because it is so bright. The second brightest thing in the painting is the woman s shirt, but even that is not as bright because of all the shadows and creases in it. Another reason why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on The Debate Over Birds and Feathered Dinosaurs The Debate Over Birds and Feathered Dinosaurs Because dinosaurs are animals that lived millions of years ago, we are entirely dependent on the fossils that they have left behind for any understanding that we hope to gain. As any paleontologist will tell you, fossil hunting is difficult. There are no certainties, no guarantees. A certain amount of luck is as valuable as any scientific knowledge. Every so often a discovery is made that attempts to shake up pre conceived notions of how the dinosaurs actually lived or how they came to be. On June 22, 2000, in Oregon, scientists announced the discovery of the oldest known animal to have feathers. Though no records indicate how the age of the animal was determined, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, those that actually subscribe to the feathered Longisquama theory are a decided minority in the paleontological community. The detractors of Nonavian Feathers in a Late Triassic Archosaur believe that the feather like impressions in the fossil are not even feathers at all. Based on the angle and shape of the imprints, many paleontologists believe that they were left by highly modified scales , or possibly even ferns that had fallen on the animal s body after death.4 Disregarding the feathers of Longisquama, and therefore disregarding its link to Archaeopteryx, these scientists still fully support the dinosaur bird link. As mentioned before, the extreme majority of paleontologists still subscribe to this idea. A recent discovery in the western region of China seems to clarify the link between dinosaurs and birds. Living at roughly the same time as Archaeopteryx, Sinovenator changii is very closely related to the bird yet is classified as a dinosaur.5 This discovery is widely regarded as very good evidence that dinosaurs and birds share evolutionary traits, and disputes the assertion that they are unrelated; as made by those that support the feathered Longisquama findings. As if this finding wasn t enough, other feathered dinosaurs have been discovered in the same region of China. Protarchaeopteryx and Caudipteryx zoui lived about 125 and 145 million years ... • 26. Hawaii Language Essay As a child, around the age of five, I became friends with the children of a family that had just moved to our neighborhood from Hawaii. The parents would occasionally make statements in a language that the children could not speak. I realize now that they were making these statements in Hawaiian, although they did not speak the language fluently, and their children did not speak the language at all. Unfortunately, this loss of language from one generation to the next has been quite common in Hawaiisince the early nineteen hundreds when the influence of the United Statesresulted in institutionalized language death. Hawaiian language, also known as ЕЊlelo Hawai I, is a Marquesic language related to other Oceanic languages of the Eastern Malayo Polynesian group in the Austronesian language family. Hawaiian is a language with no known dialects, however, some linguists note that there is a slight distinction between Hawaiian spoken throughout the islands, and Hawaiian spoken at the university. The language is named, Hawaiian, after the group of islands where it was first developed and recognized; Hawaii is a volcanic archipelago located in the Central Pacific, hence the language relation to other Oceanic languages (UCLA, Language Materials Project). Previous to the influence of the United States, there were a reported 400,000 to 800,000 Native Hawaiian speakers living in Hawaii. Hawaiian developed as a solely oral language, with a rich tradition of storytelling and music. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From a personal, yet natural perspective, Tretheway chose to form the portrait of the Gulfport district over the years by mixing poets, prose, handwritten letters and a few childhood photographs. Without a doubt, poems, coupe with prose, have successfully flesh out this tragic anecdote, though requiring individual interpretations and a deep understanding of the author s perception. In this sense, my own analysis allows me to pick three poems, which altogether hold an ultimately general theme: the powerful return of Gulf Coast society through memorization, reflection and above all, recovery. It is pretty strange when Tretheway has not been ridden out the storm at that time, yet her ability to extend that empathy to the local residents is undeniable. This is one of the biggest stereotypes about Asians out there. According to a 2008 online article called Stuff Asian People Like written by Peter; states that Asians tend to be loud due to adversity. We were compared to the Anglo Saxon legend of Beowulf. Asians are actually peaceful looking creatures who are soon to be evolved into creatures of such legends like Beowulf . According to Peter, we are compared to Beowulf because when Asians tend to talk loudly, it is as if we are screaming at the top of our lungs while trying to kill someone as Beowulf; a barbaric warrior would do. Peter also states that Asians tend to speak out loud due to the fact that we are stressed out in life. Peter is really basing this stereotype off of some kung fu movie, because we all know it is true that when someone like Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee starts fighting, they tend to pull out some loud grunts. Also the article states that we speak loudly because we are not able to express our opinions due to communism laying a barrier on our world and once we hit America, we are loud due to that barrier being lifted. What a big load of lies. Within this conference space and CAS as a whole, I had finally found a home for my interests in the decolonial politics of transnational and postcolonial feminism, politics of race and culture, and narratives about animals agency and resistance. My presentation, A Transnational Feminist Critique of the U.S. Slaughterhouse System, discussed how both the animals killed in slaughterhouses and the undocumented workers employed there are exploited by animal agribusiness and relegated to the margins of society. Inspired by Sara Ahmed s concept of the stranger, a paradoxical figure who is perceived as strange due to their race and otherness, I argued that human and nonhuman others are perceived as unlawful intruders due to both racism and speciesism. Thus, they are expelled from the white, human, and civilized community to maintain social hierarchies and private property. The presentation included a slide of a cow escaping from a slaughterhouse into an urban neighborhood. Showing the complexity of human animal encounters, the cow, who was later named Molly, was both removed as an unlawful intruder from the community into which she fled, but also invoked public affection (a ballad honoring her can be found on youtube). The state legislature had previously passed legislation affecting the environment in which the organization operated affecting the population it was originally intending to serve. Internally the DJJ faced many challenges involving organizational goals, routines, engaged staff, and new leadership. It is recommended that the organization take actions to adjust to the environment and align its goals with the new legislature. The newly appointed commissioner should adjust her managementtowards a task orientated leadership until the critical director and staff positions are fulfilled. Once the department directors are in place, directives can be established to develop department routines. The Fulfillment Of The Abrahamic Covenant The Pentatuach offers the reader hope in the fulfillment of the Abrahamic Covenant because It all began in the covenant with Abraham, God promised many things to him. God promised numerous descendants, land, and a relationship with him. God s first blessing would provide Abraham with numerous descendants, which in turn would become a great nation. His second blessing would provide him and his family with a place to call home. His third blessing states that Abraham will have a relationship with God. This means that, anyone who blesses Abraham will be blessed by God, anyone that curses him will be cursed. In return for all of these promises, Abraham and all of his male members and descendants were circumcised to let God know that they belong to him. We can believe that the Abrahamic covenant would be fulfilled when, God called Abraham to leave his country, relatives, and family to go to the land that he was going to be given. God said, I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. The land that the Lord took Abraham too, was the land that would be given to him and his descendants. After Abraham was gone, his descendants would be in possession of the land. The Bush administration declared the war on terrorism and in solidarity with those affected by the terror attacks, the public supported the government s actions (Foner). However, the enemy of this war was loosely defined as those who hate freedom and the board definition included all terrorist groups around the world that poses a threat to the Western world and the freedom it represents (Foner). The first act of war under the war on terrorism was when the Taliban, the terrorist group responsible for the tragedy on September 11, refused to give up its leader Osama bin Laden and the United States responded with air strikes (Foner). To the public, this military action against Afghanistan and the Taliban seemed justified because the Taliban was the group responsible for the terror attacks. However, with the enemy so ambiguously defined and without a clear agenda, the government was able to take free rein of the direction of the war and possible self interest came into play. The government identified the axis of evil as Iraq, Iran, and North Korea, and claimed that these three countries harbored weapons of mass destruction, or nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons, and planned to use these weapons on the United States; this claim was not supported by evidence (Foner). It is the process of which organisms change overtime as a result of heritable physical and behaviour traits (Live science. 2016). Darwin s Theory states that individuals of a certain species have variation between others in that certain specie. This is due to the differences in the genes. The genes that allow an individual to survive in their environment are usually passed down to the offspring, which causes little variation in the species (BBC. 2016).
