Feminism in Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter Essay
Written in 1850, The Scarlet Letter stood as a very progressive book. With new ideas about women,
main characters stories intertwined, and many different themes, The Scarlet Letter remains today as
a extremely popular novel about 17th century Boston, Massachusetts. Not only was the 19th
century a time for the abolition of slavery movement but it was also the beginning of the first wave
of feminism. Women such as Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, and Lucretia Mott
catalyzed the women s rights movement. These prominent women believed that a woman s role
was no longer in the house and that women should be afforded the same opportunity as men.
Nathaniel Hawthornes sympathy for women is evident in a feminist reading of his novel... Show

Wilson s question, a question testing Pearl s religious knowledge and belief in god, exemplified
her courage. An outspoken character, Pearl was beyond her age in knowledge as well as many
other aspects. The fact that Hawthorne created this girl as an unyielding character illustrates his
support for the feminist cause. Yet another time Pearl s aptitude surfaced was the warning to her
mother. Come away, mother! Come away, or yonder old Black Man will catch you! He hath got
hold of the minister already. (Hawthorne 123) This realization Pearl possessed between good and
bad coupled with her intellect allows for her empowerment. Moreover, Pearl s role as a strong,
prominent character showed 19th century Americans an alternative side young girls could possess.
While Puritan women are weak and dependent upon their husbands, Hester Prynne is empowered
and self reliant. A character designed by Hawthorne to show 19th century women that women s
work could be valuable, Hester supports herself and her daughter by needlework. For, as the novel
unfolds, the letter, intended by the Authorities to signify harsh but just condemnation, is made by
Hester to signify something entirely different able, admirable. (Bell 109) All aspects considered, the
ability of Hester, a woman who committed sin and was publicly punished for this crime, to

The Importance Of Writing In The Colonial Language
Additionally, it can be used to communicate with other indigenous people who speak different
languages, but understand the same issues of colonialism. In the specific case of some African
states, such as Achebe s Nigeria, the English language became the lingua franca of the national
bourgeoisie representative of the various national ethnicities, on the one hand, and the forces of
colonialismand transnational capital, on the other.
Indeed, postcolonial literature in the colonial language is a double edged sword. Without its use, the
writing may never reach a wide audience, as it is impossible to translate every work into each
different indigenous language. Furthermore, those who have experienced a diaspora after
colonization, such as the Africans who were transported to colonial lands, lost their indigenous
language. Their ancestors grew up with the colonial language, and unless they learn their
indigenous language, they have no choice to write in the colonial language. Yet, writing in the
colonial language furthermore reflects the power that colonists still exert today, that their language
must be used to describe the aftereffects of their subjugation of another country. The colonial
language becomes culturally more powerful, devaluing the native language as it is brought into its
domain, domesticated, and accommodated. Ultimately, the writers must take into consideration the
positives and negatives of each approach. They have the choice to write in either language,

Anxiety, Male, Female, Atheists, Religion
Anxiety The life has a lot of challenging and difficult time which need some fear and stress
reaction to be survival. That helps us to achieve our goals and respond appropriately to danger.
Many people know what it s like to feel anxious, the tension you feel when your supervisor or
manager may be angry, and the way your heart pounds assuming that you re over risk. Anxiety
rouses you to move and work. It makes you study harder for that exam, and keeps you on your
feet when you re making a speech. In general, it helps you to adapt. However, mainly the over

Relationship Between Chinese Stock Market And Macro Economy

The study of the relationship between Chinese stock market and macro economy: Can Chinese
stock market imply macro economy?
1.Motivation
Researches concerning on macro economy and stock markets of established markets have been
widely studied in the past. Early studies in this area support the argument that stock market returns
are influenced by economic announcements ( Hardouvelis, 1988 ). Additionally, authors such as
Levine and Zervos ( 1996 ) have produced significant evidence that stock markets returns are
influenced by macroeconomic indicators such as Gross Domestic Production ( GDP ), productivity,
employment and interest rates.
However, there has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, a study for China is essential as it potentially creates a necessary background for
studying similar areas for Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa.
Further, It is interesting that even though China has become one of the most powerful economic
unit in the world and also has been developing steadily and fast during the last three decades, its
stock market is still very volatile overtime. Thus, problems that whether the Chinese stock market
really has the ability to react macro economy or how well the stock market can fit the macro
economy still need some further studies and researches to discover. The conclusion of this
dissertation can not only help the Chinese investors to make better investment decisions but also
make some suggestions to the the ones who regulate Chinese economy and finance.

What Is The Monomyth In Captain America
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is an amazing sequel to the first Captain America movie.
This movie follows some stages of Joseph Campbell s monomyth theory and heres a few. The
first stage is the call to adventure . Captain America is actually called to complete missions a
couple of times in the movie. First he is called by S.H.I.E.L.D. to save hostages from a boat that
is full of hydra members. Also known as nazi s. The second time he is called is when an assassin
that goes by the name the Winter Soldier shoots his boss down right in front of him. Before Fury
(his boss) dies he tells cap that S.H.I.E.L.D. has been compromised by hydra and that he must do
whatever he can to get rid of the hydra agents. Another stage of the monomyth theory is the
supernatural aid. In the movie Captain Americasecretly receives something from Fury while being
hunted by Hydra.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next stage of the monomyth theory is the atonement with the father. Captain America faces
off with the Winter Soldier. After fighting each other for a while cap knocks the Winter Soldier s
mask off. He realizes it s his dead best friend Bucky. Now that he knows this, cap doesn t try to
kill him anymore, he tries and persuades Bucky while there still fighting to try and remember
him but it doesn t work. So he knocks him out and defeats him. The second last stage is the
ultimate boon. Captain America achieves the goal of his battle. He got rid of all the hydra agents
in S.H.I.E.L.D. He also defeated the Winter Soldier. The final stage of the monomyth theory is the
freedom to live. After cap defeats Bucky and clears his name he is a free man. He chooses to

Ballet has always been important throughout history. It was and is still a thrilling way to celebrate
special events and ballet is also a form of expression. Ballet was originated during the 15th century
in the Italian Renaissance Courts. Two very passionate dancers began to fund and help popularize
ballet. Their names were Catherine de Medici and King Louis XIV. Victor Marius Alphonse Petipa
was also a very well known French ballet dancer, teacher and choreographer. He is considered to be
the most influential ballet master in ballet history becuase he internationally popularized danceand
his works made a long lasting impression. Petipa choreographed many famous ballets, and among
them, one of the most famous classical ballet in existence that he choreographed is Swan Lake. The
physicality of the movement made this ballet simply beautiful, but by combining music, costumes
and stage sets, Petipa created an extraordinary experience in the theater. Swan Lake is an elegant
and cherished ballet which tells the story of a prince who stumbles across a beautiful swan named
Odette. She was once a human princess but had been transformed by a heinous sorcerer s curse.
Petipa s choreography expressed romanticism and emerging symbolism, which revolutionized the
Russian culture. On January 15,1895, the Petipa production in ST. Petersburg was the day ballet
developed from a man s most magnificant and artistic creations. Petipa simplified the structure of

Huey P. Newton And The Black Panther Party
During the late 1960 s and early 70 s posters of the Black Panther Party s co founder, Huey P.

and a leather jacket, sitting on a wicker chair, a spear in one hand and a rifle in the other, the
poster depicted Huey Newton as a symbol of his generation s anger and courage in the face of
racismand imperialism (Albert and Hoffman 4, 45). His intellectual capacity and community

It is out of this change of the movement s focus where Huey arrives at the idea for Black youth
to openly display weapons. This action would be soon to serve as a founding principal within
the Panthers. Eventually serving as a founding principal of the Panthers, Huey s suggestion for a
demonstration of armed protest was inspired by Malcolm X s philosophy for self defense. The
SSAC s rejection of Brothers On the Block , eventually led to Huey and Bobby s resignation
from the Campus Organization. Fed up with the increasing police brutality towards African
Americans and the SSAC rejection of Brothers On the Block , Huey and Bobby decided to form
an organization to monitor police behavior in black neighborhoods and protect the rights of
African Americans. This organization was the Black Panther Party for Self Defense (BPP). The
Panthers stormed into American history in 1966 when Huey P. Newton wrote the platform for
the party. The platform made an aggressive call for power to determine the destiny of our black
communityВ…. with the immediate emphasis on the need for organizing black defense
groupsВ…to end police brutality. Huey and Bobby created a uniform for the Panthers
demonstrating the seriousness and discipline of the Party s platform. The Black Panthers first
action was to follow Oakland Police cars, either on foot or in cars, while dressed in black pants,
black leather jackets, starched blue shirts and black berets, carrying loaded shot guns. The Oakland

The stock market crash of 1929, which is considered most of the beginning of the U.S Great

Introduction In today s modern society shaped by economic and social challenges, business strategy
has never been more important. A rethink of theoretical managementpractices is fundamental to
establishing innovative strategic design to cope with these challenges. (Hahn et al, 2010). This is
not a new idea, in fact, in 2009, Guerrera challenged Michael Porter s underlying premise that
businesses are there to make money while Figge and Hahn (2008) go as far as to accuse such
strategies of aggravating the current economic situation. Henry Mintzberg s ... Show more content

They conclude that meaning, compromising perspective, knowledge, and learning, underlies action.
[p88] It is evident that this debate will continue to grow in interest and relevance in a modern,
global society and it is important to look at the underlying premise behind Mintzberg s conviction.
Underlying premise Mintzberg s underlying assumption is that businesses must learn which
opportunities are available in the current and future environments and to do this, strategy must be
developed by managers at the operational level: built from occasional nuggets they uncover [p111]
and not by senior managers and analysts in an ivory tower looking backwards at past data. Birger
Wernerfelt, (1984) illustrates an organisation driven, resource based view of strategy in which firms
can influence the environment in which they operate. Wernerfelt argues that firms must first
understand their organisation and develop ways to shape their business surroundings accordingly.
On the other side of this learning debate, Porter (1985) presents a positioning approach where the
role of the strategist is to identify the external forces of the environment (Competitive forces Model:
Porter, 1979) and find a unique and valuable position in which the firm can flourish. As is typical in
organisational strategy, nothing is clear cut and indeed Mintzberg s article draws parallels with
both Wernerfelt and Porter. In this article, he argues that organisations must learn which
opportunities are

Disney Company was created in 1923. The mission of the company is to provide superior
entertainment experiences for the guests of all ages. Walt Disney Company opened the two theme

Disney in Tokyo and Paris. However, the outcomes of theme parks in Tokyo and Paris were very
extreme. Tokyo Disney Resortwas one of the most successful theme park in the world. On the

result was the cultural differences between two countries which I would discover below.

The, Siddhartha, By Herman Hesse
Set in ancient India, Siddhartha, written by Herman Hesse, narrates a soul s quest in pursuit of the
answers to humanity s role in this realm. Centered around a Brahmin s son, Siddhartha, Hesse
illustrates how powerful society is to both promote and hinder Siddhartha s pilgrimage towards
spiritual enlightenment. It is through sin, lust, and profound despair that Siddhartha learned to not

The Ball was for the prince to find a bride, and although Cinderella begged her stepmother to let
her go, she wasn t allowed. Bettelheim must agree with all this adversity that Cinderella is
facing. Later, her stepmother threw a dish of food into the fire and told her that if in an hour she
had picked them up, she could go. Even though the Birds came and picked up the food,
Cinderella s stepmother still said no. Her stepmother s reasoning for not letting her go was that
she had no clothes and that could not dance. It s hard not to see how hard Cinderella is trying to
lead a good life, although she faces so much adversity. Bettelheim might also agree.
As the old saying goes The good guy always wins ; Cinderella ends up going to the prince s ball
and is the only girl he dances with all night. For three nights the Prince walked Cinderella home,
and she would disappear. However, on the third day the prince caught Cinderella s shoe by
putting wax on the steps. He gets the shoe and tries to find her. He goes to Cinderella s house to
try to find her, and her step sisters try on the shoe with no avail. Finally, Cinderella tried on the
shoe and it was a perfect fit. Now that the Prince had found his princess, they decided to get

Obesity During The Us Military
OBESITY IN THE US MILITARY The Department of Defense (DoD) is the largest employer in
the United States; there are over 1.3 million men and women on active duty and 826 thousand
serving in the National Guard and Reserve forces. Each year roughly 184,000 new military
personnel must be recruited to replace those who leave (nber.org, 2010). Recruitment has
become more demanding for the U.S. military in the past years. Most of the new recruits
entering the ranks are young men and women between the ages of 17 and 20 years old; they are
America s sons and daughters. Over the past decades, the continued increase of obesity cases in
America has severely affected the supply of prospective military recruits (Gagnon Stephens,
2015). The US military is not immune to this obesity epidemic the rate of service members
kicked out for weight issues continues to rise. Obesity has also become the leading cause of
new recruits being denied entry into military service. Is it possible that the US will reach a point
where it will be unable to sustain a proper fighting force in the future? Since the US armed forces
recruit from the general population, the increase in overweight/obesity in children and adults has
become a concern and a threat to national defense (Hruby et al,. 2015). This apparent issue first
came to public attention in 2002, in a report entitled Are U.S. Troops Too Fat to Fight? The report
revealed trends within overweight active duty and reserves as well as new recruits

How Tenyson Describes The Eagle
How Tenyson Describes the Eagle
In verse 1, line 1 he describes the eagle as being harsh, violent and rough by using alliteration in
the words clasps , crag , and crooked . He uses onomatopoeia also in these words to get over the
violentness of the bird and also its rough environment. When using the phrase crooked hands
Tenyson is describing how the shape of the claws are crooked but when he used the word hands
instead of claws this is implying the eagle has god like qualities.
The phrase close to the sun has connotations of the bird being god like (because some religions
worship the sun like a god). The sun also has connotations of energy and strength implying the bird

In line 5 Tenyson says he watches from his mountain walls . Tenyson describes the walls as his
making it sound as if the eagle owns the mountains and its his territory. This furthers the idea of the
eagle being powerful.
In the last line of the poem Tenyson says And like a thunderbolt he falls
This is saying how the eagle can fall effortlessly like a thunderbolt, which shows how much power
the eagle holds.
What did Cowper think of Tiney?
Cowper is obviously very fond of his pet hare, Tiney. He is very protective over it; this is shown in
verse 1 of the poem
Here lies, whom hound did n er pursue,
Nor swifter greyhound follow,
Whose got ne er tainted morning dew,
Nor ear heard huntsman s hallo ==================================
Cowper is saying that his hare has never been let into danger, and his feet have never even touched
the morning dew . This shows that Cowper cares for Tiney and will not let him come to any harm.
In the second verse Cowper describes how he raised the hare like one of his children, but even
though Cowper was trying to raise the hare like he was the hare still had a wild streak in him.
Old Tiney, surliest of his kind,
Who, nursed with tender care,
And domestic bounds confined,

The Doctrine Of Physician Assisted Suicide
Although a majority of Americans consider suicide morally wrong, the public shows a broad
support for the idea of physician assisted suicide when considering terminal patients. However, even
though it is the same concept, the term physician assisted suicide is a somewhat negative
implication for a substantial amount of Americans, which is why the public is divided when asked
about its moral acceptance. Physicianassisted suicideis thought by many to be a form of euthanasia,
however, it is not. Euthanasia is when a doctor injects a patient with a lethal dosage of medication
accelerating the deathprocess. During this process, the physician only prescribes a lethal dose of
medication to a patient. According to Dr. Brian Pollard,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Meiji Emperors Research Paper
THE CHARTER OATH
As the Meiji Era commenced, the new Meiji reformers had to change many characteristics of the
Japanese society, in order to win the respect of the Western power (Europe and the United States).
In 1868, when the Meiji emperor was restored as head of Japan, the country was militarily weak,
had little technological advancement, and was predominantly agricultural. Instead, of a unified
nation, Japan was controlled by hundreds of semi independent feudal lords (shoguns and daimyos
too, held power and authority over the warlords). When the Western powers arrived at Japan, they
forced Japan to sign treaties that limited the nation s control over its own foreign trade. However,
Japan was not able to fight back, because the Westerners... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The inequality and the restriction of freedom, between the class division systems made majority
of the population discontented. Fearing uprises and revolts from the people, the leaders of the
new Meiji government tried to unite all people to strengthen the country. To achieve this aim, the
traditional class system became abolished. All men became eligible to rise to government
positions, as long as they possess the necessary talent. The government s first dramatic step was to
abolish all the daimyo domains, thus dismantling a political order in place for 260 years. Article 2
of the Charter Oath, was a call for national unity. By 1876, less than a decade after the restoration
takeover, the economic privileges of the samurai were wiped out entirely. This meant that the
samurai class lost its ruling and privileged power, and there was a breakdown of the previously
strict and divided social classes. As a result, everyone was treated equally and held the right to

Authentication System for Identifying Internet Users
OpenID is a decentralized, single sign on authentication system for internet sites that require
authentication for use. It was developed out of the need to create a different, easier and more
secure, type of authentication system than using a password. OpenID was developed using the
open source software model to be an interoperable protocol independent from any single
organization OpenIDallows users to log into websites with one single ID, instead of the user
having to create and manage multiple accounts. To use OpenID, a user must first register with a
website that supports OpenID. When viewing other sites that use OpenID, the user logs in with a
redirect to a secure URL. With OpenID, the user s email address will be available to websites
requesting authentication, however it s not the identifier. OpenID uses URLs as an identity; users
will leave a site and return after authenticating with a third party website. The user would connect
to an OpenID enabled website, enter credential information, and then a POST is made with a
BASE64 which is a website to provider request. The website would then redirect the user to the
providers for login. The user s passwordwould be entered in automatically by OpenID and
submitted; once verification is done the user is logged in to the site. Currently there are over one
billion OpenID user accounts and over 50,000 websites that use OpenID.

The Case Of Augustus s True Message
Art is often used in propaganda regimes in order to convey a certain message. Many times that
message is clear. However, in the case of Augustus, is his message straightforward? Was he telling
people that he was a brave and godlike man with the Prima Porta? Or would he rather be known as
the humble pontifex maximus? Or rather a man who works in conjunction with his family and the
senate as seen in the Ara Picas Augustae? Certainly these different characteristics make it hard to
pin point Augustuss true message. What was Augustus really trying to say? Why keep himself
young and idealized even as he aged? Why did he make divine symbols subtle? If he wanted the
Roman population to view him as a god couldn t he just force everyone to worship him? Well that
would probably work in a world where assassination wasn t an option. But, then again, was
Augustus really the mastermind behind the propaganda? Maybe it was all Livia.
The Prima Porta Speaking of Livia, she was he owner of the Prima Porta, an idealized statue of a
young Augustus. She had it displayed in her villa, from which the statue got its name. It is
believed that The statue, probably carved after Augustus death, may be a copy of an earlier
bronze statue put up in a public space, made soon after his victory over the Parthians in 20 B.C.
Let s look first at what the original statue, if there was one, would have meant for Augustus s
propaganda. Certain features of the statue such as his bare feet indicate that

Summary Of To A Louse By Robert Burns
Robert Burns wrote the poem To a Louse in 1786, in Scotland, that emphasizes the social
constructs of man and as well as man s vanity. Burns then goes on in further detail to explain the
artificial concept of social class and perspective of the individual in society. He does this by
describing one day sitting in church where he is behind gorgeous young noble woman while a louse
is crawling upon her silken bonnet. The lady is completely oblivious to the fact that the louse is
upon her bonnet while everyone sitting in the pews nearby point and wink with one another at the
appearance of the louse. Through this ridiculous and humorous poem Burns is highlighting the
vanity of human nature and the artificial construct of social classthrough his own eyes that he is
seeing in eighteenth century Scotland. In the poem, the reader finds Burns sitting in his pew in
church where he notices a louse, a small wingless insect sometimes called lice or fleas, crawling
upon the bonnet of a young and elegant lady in the seat in front of him. At this point in the poem
Burns is surprised that the louse would dare set his feet upon such a fine lady rather than that of
a beggar or vagabond in the streets, where a louse would normally be found. Here Burns then
goes on to describe the louse as Detested, shunn d, by saunt (saint) an sinner and more usually
associated with the likes of the lower class, such as beggars and slaves, and not the upper class
from which the lady is from, according to The Bard: Robert Burns, a Biography by Robert
Crawford. Burns then begins to admire the bravado and courage of the louse as he makes the
trek up the noble lady s bonnet. Where Burns then turns his attention to the elegant lady whom he
calls Jenny. Which he then tells her not to shake her head in an air of pride as she is completely
unaware of the humorous effect that the sight of the louse has upon all of the people nearby. As
Burns watches those around him take notice of this spectacle in front of him he wishes that the
supreme power of God would give us the ability to see ourselves as others see us. Thus, riding
ourselves of our pride, vanity, and misconceptions in one another created by the human construct of
class in society and

The Theory Of Plate Tectonics And Earth s Crust Displacement
For millions of years the Earth has experienced geologic catastrophes. Since the existence of Theia
itself, the Earth s crust has been formed, deformed, and even demolished. The crust has never been
a completed masterpiece due to this. Why is this? The most recent physical changes were caused by
the theory of plate tectonicsand earth s crust displacement. Plate tectonics and its movement
resulted in our continents drifting across the earth s surface, and the creation of mountain belts,
volcanoes, and the faults of today s Earth. A German meteorologist and explorer Alfred Wegener
put forth the theory of continental drift in the early 1900 s. Wegener pointed out that the earth s
continents looked as if they were all connected at one point in time. He also pointed out that some
of earth s features, including the long S shaped mountain structure formed on the Atlantic
seafloor, could fit snugly against the corresponding western seafloor of Europe and Africa (Sieh
and LeVay 1998). Wegener proposed that all of the earth s continents once formed one single
landmass, which he named Pangaea or all land . He concluded that Pangaea had broken up and
separated due to the unidentifiable forces estimated 300 million years ago (Sieh and LeVay 1998).
Geologists did not fully understand at the time that Earth s continents could drift (Hazen 2012).
After all, the continents do not float in the oceans. They are made from a solid material connecting
to the mantle, a sphere of solid rock

The Civil War In this meeting of the Southern Historical Association great emphasis has been

several papers have dealt with certain forces which helped bring about the Civil War, none has

Before attempting to say what were the causes of the American Civil War, first let me say what
were not the causes of this war. Perhaps the most beautiful, the most poetic, the most eloquent

A systematic study of both northern and southern opinion as expressed in their newspapers,

ideology was democratic and identical. However, theoretical adherence to the democratic
principles, as veil we know all too well in these days of plutocratic influences in our political life, is
not sufficient evidence that democratic government exists. I believe that I shall not be challenged
in the assertion that the economic structure of a section or a nation is the foundation upon which its
political structure must rest. For this reason, therefore, it will be necessary to know what the
economic foundations of these sections were. Was the economic structure of the North such as to
support a political democracy in fact as well as in form? And was the economic structure of the
South such as to permit the existence of free government? Time does not permit an extended

Rfid ( Radio Frequency Identification ) Essay
RFID (radio frequency identification) uses radio waves to transmit information between RFID
tags (chips) and RFID readers (What is RFID?, n.d.). There are two basic types of RFID tags.
Active tags are larger and more expensive because they require an independent power supply to
function, passive tags are cheaper, smaller and do not need a separate power supply (The Different
Types of RFIDSystems, n.d.). Initially, we will be implementing the use of passive RFID tags,
which will help control the costs of this project. Once the RFID project is functioning according to
our expectations, we will expand our RFID system to include the use of active RFID tags. The
implementation of RFID technology will require a significant financial investment for a system
wide implementation. Depending upon the extent of our investment in RFID technology, we could
enhance our control of access to certain areas, improve inventory management, and monitor our
patients movements throughout our RFID equipped facilities (Niles, 2015, p. 384)
Phase one of the RFID implementation project will increase the security of our facilities and

The entire hospital is equipped with back up power although some of the individual department
also has local UPS. Local UPS prevent the loss of power during the switch over from commercial to
backup power.
The Radiology department has two IMAC computers, two MAC Pros and one digital printer. The
OR and ICU have two IMac s, one MAC PRO, and a wireless access point which they access using
IPad s. The devices are connected to a HP laser MFP 475 b/w printer.
Last, the RIS data center comprises of a MAC PRO server with the MAC Lion operating system.
An APC UPS is connected to the server in the event of a power outage. The data center also
contains two printers, an IMAC computer and a Promise 48TB RAID disk storage.
STANDARDS
There are many LAN standards utilized by Patton Fuller Hospital all of which are baseband Ethernet
LAN s. IEEE 802.3 is the working group that creates and defines the entire family of Ethernet
standards (Goleniewski, 2007). First, 802.3ab, which was completed in 1999, is 1000base T
Gigabit Ethernet over twisted pair at 1Gbps. 802.3ab uses UTP category 5, 5e, 6, or 7 cables.
Gigabit Ethernet is capable of transmitting 1Gbps of data over distances of 300ft. It is easy to
implement because most companies already use a category 5 or higher grade of cable. The
second standard LAN standard used in the hospital is 802.3x or 1000Base X Gigabit Ethernet over
fiber at 1 Gbps. Gigabit Ethernet builds on top of the Ethernet protocol but

Analyzing Crime Statistics Essay
Crime statistics endeavor to provide statistical measures of crime in societies. They provide a point
of analysis and comparison, allow countries to form long term patterns and trends and can help to
develop and reform criminal justice policies as well as being more meaningful than raw numbers.
Using the countries of Bahrain and the United States as a comparison point for the following issues
which surround crimestatistics such as biases, agendas and general influences like education and
religion; this essay will be focused around analysing the statistical factors and wider influences
which can allow a country to have low or high crime rates. Definitions of what exactly constitutes
being a crime differ not only across countries but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So for any kind of comparison of crime rates to work at all, it is crucial that the definitions of crimes
and the categories they are placed in are similar. The next issue with definitions is that even the
different organizations that compile crime statistics differ within their own definitions. INTERPOL
for example defines murder as: Any act performed with the purpose of taking human life, excluding
abortion but including infanticide (and including attempts).(Kalish, 1988)
While the World Health Organization (WHO) does not distinguish between intentional or
unintentional homicides but does not include attempts under this organization attempts fall under a
separate legal distinction(Kalish, 1988). And again, the United Nations have a different definition
for homicide: Death purposely inflicted by another person, including infanticide. (Kalish, 1988)
Due to major issues with the above topics across all countries, due to definitional and categorical
differences, crime statistics can differ significantly.
In Bahrain, crimes against the individual are ranked in relation to the seriousness of the offence,
murder, attempted murder, murder by error, assault, threatening and others. In the United States,
offences are not classed separately, but into broad categories which are homicides, robberies and
assaults. Bahrain does not report rape as a single category and in response, no reports of rape have
been sent to

Essay On Kennewick Man
When we think of prehistoric things they may think of things of the past, but with the breakthrough
unearthing of the Kennewick Man transformed peoples thought of prehistoric existences. The
Kennewick Man or The Ancient Man is the name given to the skeletal remains of a man found in
Kennewick, Washington on July 28,1996. A pair of bystanders accidentally found the skeleton
remains of the Kennewick Man. With the discovery it has brought up many disagreements about
what to do with the Kennewick man. The question now is who is really responsible for the remains
of the Kennewick Man.
The remains of the Kennewick man are one of the oldest and complete remains ever found. The
estimated 9,000 year old skeleton is described as Caucasoid. After the discovery it was described as
one of the most complete male skeletons ever unearthed in America. The Kennewick Man remains
were the subject of a court battle between researchers who want to learn all they can about The
Ancient One , and the U.S. Army Corps. The Corps wanted to return the Kennewick Man to his
rightful place so that the American Indian tribes can rebury him without the Kennewick Man being
studied on. But under United States law human remains cannot be owned by anyone. Even though

The Presidential Election of 2004 Essay
Analyze the Presidential election of 2004. What happened and why?
Analyze the changing nature of the media and how that is affecting politics.
The two questions identified above cannot be adequately answered alone without one influencing
the other because a campaign that influences the election of the most powerful position in the world
is a public event. However, after months of predictions of a too close to call contest, Bush won
nationwide balloting making him the 15th president elected to a second term and the first to win
both a majority of the popular vote and the Electoral College since his father in 1988. The GOP
also extended its majorities in the House and Senate.

Those who opposed the president did so because of his decision to go to war in Iraq and how it
was carried out and their nervousness about the economy. As it turned out Kerry s vote was anti
Bush, it wasn t pro Kerry.
Voter turnout hit record highs nationally, and the total for Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney
was higher than any previous presidential ticket. Some of the greatest percentage gains over 2000
came in 13 states that were the battleground in the presidential election. Millions of dollars were
spent on TV ads and voter mobilization. Interestingly, Democratic strategists had predicted that
turnout at those levels would assure victory. But Democratic voter drives were matched in large
part by Republicans, particularly religious conservatives.
Voters conveyed a sense of urgency about Iraq, and their top priority for President Bush to tackle
after his re election. Iraq was followed by terrorism among voters leading concerns. Voters also
conveyed they want the President to cut the deficit and balance the budget rather than reducing
taxes.
After a campaign dominated by discussion of Iraq and terrorism, national security issues were at the
top of voters concerns along with the economy. Many voters indicated through their votes they were
also concerned about quot;moral values quot;. This election confirmed that we are a divided nation,
not only politically, but in terms of our interpretation of religion. The

Analysis Of Kurt Vonnegut s The Monkey House
Kurt Vonnegut is known for his dark humor, wit, and imagination. He is consistently listed among
the great American authors of the later twentieth century and his novel s such as Cat s Cradle and
Slaughterhouse Five are considered modern classics. In this essay, I will focus on two of Vonnegut
s short stories Welcome to the Monkey House(1968) which takes place in a dystopian future where
everyone is required to take pills that take all the pleasure out of sex and Miss Temptation (1959)
which takes place in a small east coast town by looking at them through a feminist lense. Both
stories come to the same ultimate conclusion that over moralization of human sexuality is pointless
and harmful but they come to this conclusion in very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Nancy counters this with you certainly manage to make a woman feel like an object rather

first lessons that Billy teaches Nancy, that the pills are bad and somehow making her less of a
woman. However, what it really suggests is that a woman isn t worth listening to if her
sexuality isn t involved. Once Nancy reaches Billy s hideout, other women are more than happy
to assist him in raping her. It is later revealed that all of these other women were also once raped
by Billy but have now they understand and they re grateful. The fact that these victims would not
only be happy to assist their rapist and kidnapper but also are described as almost worshipping
him seems to suggest more of a Stockholm syndrome situation instead of one where Billy has
saved them. Billy obviously holds the power within his gang and these women are willing to do
whatever it takes to help him rape other women. The idea that all these women needed to become
grateful was to be forcefully deflowered by Billy perpetuates the patriarchal idea that women need
to be introduced (often forcefully) to their own sexuality. Instead of just letting the women stop
taking their pills and then waiting for them to make their own decisions about what to do with their
bodies, Billy rapes them almost as soon as the

Fear In The Tell-Tale Heart And The Masque Of Red Death
Fear is beneficial and dismissive
Fear is beneficial. Being cautious in the world is a survival skill and alerts you about your

Except when the fears releases and lead to paranoia. Sometimes fear clouds the mind of rational
thoughts therefore, it that may or will become an obsession. In Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale

Afghanistan Under the Rule of the Musahiban Family Essay
After the fall of Amanullah Khan, Habibullah Khan Kalakani ruled for a short term and then the
Musahiban family ruled over Afghanistan from 1929 1978. The Musahiban family halted the social
changes that Amanullah Khan wanted to make which moved it away from developing the
economy, state building and modernization. The economy was the same as it was at the turn of the
century. The Musahiban family followed the policy of encapsulated modernization. They only
focused on the centers the countryside areas remained untouched because of the fear of rising

were rather effective, and enabled him to establish control over the domestic environment.
One of the most essential domestic successes during Musahiban was the Economic development.
The emergence of a merchant class for the first time in Afghanistan under Majed Zabulli s

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
In order to analyze the proposal we compared the financial benefits for Axeon to support product
manufacturing in the UK versus the Netherlands. See exhibits 1 and 2 for cash flow comparisons
including financial summary.
As seen in the cash flow analysis, economically makes sense to manufacture the product in
Netherlands and ship it to U.K., that option has an NVP of ВЈ1,044,146 versus ВЈ915,976 NVP if
the product is manufactured in U.K.
ALTERNATIVE 1:
Build the manufacturing plant in U.K.
As proposed by Ian Wallingford, the building of a new manufacturing facility to produce AR 42 in
U.K. is financially viable and sustainable for at least 7 years.
Advantages:
The manufacturing process would be located in U.K. therefore it is easier to facilitate speed to
market by local distribution and management.
Higher sense of accountability for Hollandsworth as they would not only sale it but manufacture it
as well.
Disadvantages:
Lack of experience in developing and manufacturing a specialized product. This would be difficult
in assessing variable costs.
If the market analysis is not correct and the expected market share or sales volume are not
reached, Hollandsworth will end up with not acceptable levels of IRR. i.e., if there is a decrease in
expected market share of 27%, then

Rappaccini s Daughter Discussion Questions
I think these questions can best be answered through Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter. Before
I answer those questions by using that particular story, I do want to say a couple of things about
The Minister s Black Veil. I know there s supposed to be some sadness and a great message to
this story, but I can t help it it made me laugh a lot. The gossiping, the speculation, the way that a
stupid piece of material could totally change who someone was to everyone even though nothing
about him really changed all of that made me laugh. One of the funniest things, and maybe it s
not supposed to be funny but was to me, was when Mr. Hooper s sermon style or plea to his
parishioners, was one of mild persuasive influences. That description really made me laugh, and so
did the part about the corpse shuddering from seeing Mr. Hooper s face behind that... Show more

Hooper was funny to me. The story just didn t affect me in the way that maybe it affects some
people, and it s hard for me to answer these questions through that story, because the humor in it
kept me from determining whether it was cryptic or straightforward. I guess I didn t find that
story to be tragic, but Rappaccini s Daughter is quite the opposite for me. While I thought it was
straightforward and not cryptic, I did find Rappaccini s Daughter to be completely depressing. I
believe the meaning is very clear at the end. To me, it was saying that selfish intentions of wanting
more often lead to the destruction of the really truly important things in life of the simple and
beautiful things. Rappaccini was so obsessed with his experiments and his own genius that he
didn t seem to mind risking his own simple yet beautiful daughter. During her entire life, he did
this! Eventually, it hit him what he had done to his own daughter. He realized he was the reason
she lived a life of loneliness and seclusion. Sadly, he realized too late

Essay on Fathead Commercial Analysis
American culture has become littered with commercials the past few decades. It does not matter
if you are watching television or reading a magazine, you are bound to come across some
advertisement promoting a product that you supposedly need to make life easier. James Twitchell
even goes on to say that The culture we live in is carried on the back of advertising (Twitchell).
Some commercials try to woo you in with sappysongs and sad images, while others take a path that
will create good feelings and laughter that will leave you thinking about their product all day.
Fathead, a company that sells huge life like posters of athletes and other popular figures, takes the
latter approach to selling their product. Their new Clay Matthews,... Show more content on

Matthews also makes many sarcastic remarks to the supposed home owners. The commercial even
shows a cat with a bag full of money robbing the house. The way Matthews applies comedic satire
to the commercial leaves people with a warm, funny feeling that makes them want a fathead,
which is the whole point of producing the commercial. Just as many other companies use
testimonial to endorse their products, Fathead exploits the popularity of Clay Matthews to sell
fatheads. Matthews is an NFL superstar that is beloved by many sports fanatics. Matthews is
also perfect for selling fatheads because the majority of fatheads are sports orientated. While
having someone as popular as Clay Matthews is already enough to bring in big profit, Fathead
also puts him in a comedic light, which only adds to the amount of support Fathead earns. With an
adored figure like Clay Matthews selling products, it is highly likely for that commercial to
succeed. Fathead most likely had huge success in selling fatheads because their Clay Matthews,
Handyman commercial used many popular strategies to bring in customers, such as a friendly
setting, comedic appeal, and a powerful testimonial. Fathead used all these tactics to produce an
almost perfect commercial that will put a smile on anyone s face. Many commercials may use the
same format that Fathead uses but with the combination of a great product and the comedic

  • 2. Feminism in Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter Essay Written in 1850, The Scarlet Letter stood as a very progressive book. With new ideas about women, main characters stories intertwined, and many different themes, The Scarlet Letter remains today as a extremely popular novel about 17th century Boston, Massachusetts. Not only was the 19th century a time for the abolition of slavery movement but it was also the beginning of the first wave of feminism. Women such as Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, and Lucretia Mott catalyzed the women s rights movement. These prominent women believed that a woman s role was no longer in the house and that women should be afforded the same opportunity as men. Nathaniel Hawthornes sympathy for women is evident in a feminist reading of his novel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wilson s question, a question testing Pearl s religious knowledge and belief in god, exemplified her courage. An outspoken character, Pearl was beyond her age in knowledge as well as many other aspects. The fact that Hawthorne created this girl as an unyielding character illustrates his support for the feminist cause. Yet another time Pearl s aptitude surfaced was the warning to her mother. Come away, mother! Come away, or yonder old Black Man will catch you! He hath got hold of the minister already. (Hawthorne 123) This realization Pearl possessed between good and bad coupled with her intellect allows for her empowerment. Moreover, Pearl s role as a strong, prominent character showed 19th century Americans an alternative side young girls could possess. While Puritan women are weak and dependent upon their husbands, Hester Prynne is empowered and self reliant. A character designed by Hawthorne to show 19th century women that women s work could be valuable, Hester supports herself and her daughter by needlework. For, as the novel unfolds, the letter, intended by the Authorities to signify harsh but just condemnation, is made by Hester to signify something entirely different able, admirable. (Bell 109) All aspects considered, the ability of Hester, a woman who committed sin and was publicly punished for this crime, to manipulate this punishment into a virtue ... • 3. The Importance Of Writing In The Colonial Language Additionally, it can be used to communicate with other indigenous people who speak different languages, but understand the same issues of colonialism. In the specific case of some African states, such as Achebe s Nigeria, the English language became the lingua franca of the national bourgeoisie representative of the various national ethnicities, on the one hand, and the forces of colonialismand transnational capital, on the other. Indeed, postcolonial literature in the colonial language is a double edged sword. Without its use, the writing may never reach a wide audience, as it is impossible to translate every work into each different indigenous language. Furthermore, those who have experienced a diaspora after colonization, such as the Africans who were transported to colonial lands, lost their indigenous language. Their ancestors grew up with the colonial language, and unless they learn their indigenous language, they have no choice to write in the colonial language. Yet, writing in the colonial language furthermore reflects the power that colonists still exert today, that their language must be used to describe the aftereffects of their subjugation of another country. The colonial language becomes culturally more powerful, devaluing the native language as it is brought into its domain, domesticated, and accommodated. Ultimately, the writers must take into consideration the positives and negatives of each approach. They have the choice to write in either language, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Underlying premise Mintzberg s underlying assumption is that businesses must learn which opportunities are available in the current and future environments and to do this, strategy must be developed by managers at the operational level: built from occasional nuggets they uncover [p111] and not by senior managers and analysts in an ivory tower looking backwards at past data. Birger Wernerfelt, (1984) illustrates an organisation driven, resource based view of strategy in which firms can influence the environment in which they operate. Wernerfelt argues that firms must first understand their organisation and develop ways to shape their business surroundings accordingly. On the other side of this learning debate, Porter (1985) presents a positioning approach where the role of the strategist is to identify the external forces of the environment (Competitive forces Model: Porter, 1979) and find a unique and valuable position in which the firm can flourish. As is typical in organisational strategy, nothing is clear cut and indeed Mintzberg s article draws parallels with both Wernerfelt and Porter. We would stay with my grandparents and always meet up with our Aunt and Uncle. My grandparents, the Howe s, had a big two story house. The upstairs hallway was cut out so you could see the downstairs living room and the kitchen. My parents would stay in my mom s old room, my sisters in the quest room, and me in my uncle s room. • 30. Authentication System for Identifying Internet Users OpenID is a decentralized, single sign on authentication system for internet sites that require authentication for use. It was developed out of the need to create a different, easier and more secure, type of authentication system than using a password. OpenID was developed using the open source software model to be an interoperable protocol independent from any single organization OpenIDallows users to log into websites with one single ID, instead of the user having to create and manage multiple accounts. To use OpenID, a user must first register with a website that supports OpenID. When viewing other sites that use OpenID, the user logs in with a redirect to a secure URL. With OpenID, the user s email address will be available to websites requesting authentication, however it s not the identifier. OpenID uses URLs as an identity; users will leave a site and return after authenticating with a third party website. The user would connect to an OpenID enabled website, enter credential information, and then a POST is made with a BASE64 which is a website to provider request. The website would then redirect the user to the providers for login. The user s passwordwould be entered in automatically by OpenID and submitted; once verification is done the user is logged in to the site. Currently there are over one billion OpenID user accounts and over 50,000 websites that use OpenID. • 31. The Case Of Augustus s True Message Art is often used in propaganda regimes in order to convey a certain message. Many times that message is clear. However, in the case of Augustus, is his message straightforward? Was he telling people that he was a brave and godlike man with the Prima Porta? Or would he rather be known as the humble pontifex maximus? Or rather a man who works in conjunction with his family and the senate as seen in the Ara Picas Augustae? Certainly these different characteristics make it hard to pin point Augustuss true message. What was Augustus really trying to say? Why keep himself young and idealized even as he aged? Why did he make divine symbols subtle? If he wanted the Roman population to view him as a god couldn t he just force everyone to worship him? Well that would probably work in a world where assassination wasn t an option. But, then again, was Augustus really the mastermind behind the propaganda? Maybe it was all Livia. The Prima Porta Speaking of Livia, she was he owner of the Prima Porta, an idealized statue of a young Augustus. She had it displayed in her villa, from which the statue got its name. It is believed that The statue, probably carved after Augustus death, may be a copy of an earlier bronze statue put up in a public space, made soon after his victory over the Parthians in 20 B.C. Let s look first at what the original statue, if there was one, would have meant for Augustus s propaganda. Certain features of the statue such as his bare feet indicate that ... • 32. Summary Of To A Louse By Robert Burns Robert Burns wrote the poem To a Louse in 1786, in Scotland, that emphasizes the social constructs of man and as well as man s vanity. Burns then goes on in further detail to explain the artificial concept of social class and perspective of the individual in society. He does this by describing one day sitting in church where he is behind gorgeous young noble woman while a louse is crawling upon her silken bonnet. The lady is completely oblivious to the fact that the louse is upon her bonnet while everyone sitting in the pews nearby point and wink with one another at the appearance of the louse. Through this ridiculous and humorous poem Burns is highlighting the vanity of human nature and the artificial construct of social classthrough his own eyes that he is seeing in eighteenth century Scotland. In the poem, the reader finds Burns sitting in his pew in church where he notices a louse, a small wingless insect sometimes called lice or fleas, crawling upon the bonnet of a young and elegant lady in the seat in front of him. At this point in the poem Burns is surprised that the louse would dare set his feet upon such a fine lady rather than that of a beggar or vagabond in the streets, where a louse would normally be found. Here Burns then goes on to describe the louse as Detested, shunn d, by saunt (saint) an sinner and more usually associated with the likes of the lower class, such as beggars and slaves, and not the upper class from which the lady is from, according to The Bard: Robert Burns, a Biography by Robert Crawford. Burns then begins to admire the bravado and courage of the louse as he makes the trek up the noble lady s bonnet. Where Burns then turns his attention to the elegant lady whom he calls Jenny. Which he then tells her not to shake her head in an air of pride as she is completely unaware of the humorous effect that the sight of the louse has upon all of the people nearby. As Burns watches those around him take notice of this spectacle in front of him he wishes that the supreme power of God would give us the ability to see ourselves as others see us. Thus, riding ourselves of our pride, vanity, and misconceptions in one another created by the human construct of class in society and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Theory Of Plate Tectonics And Earth s Crust Displacement For millions of years the Earth has experienced geologic catastrophes. Since the existence of Theia itself, the Earth s crust has been formed, deformed, and even demolished. The crust has never been a completed masterpiece due to this. Why is this? The most recent physical changes were caused by the theory of plate tectonicsand earth s crust displacement. Plate tectonics and its movement resulted in our continents drifting across the earth s surface, and the creation of mountain belts, volcanoes, and the faults of today s Earth. A German meteorologist and explorer Alfred Wegener put forth the theory of continental drift in the early 1900 s. Wegener pointed out that the earth s continents looked as if they were all connected at one point in time. He also pointed out that some of earth s features, including the long S shaped mountain structure formed on the Atlantic seafloor, could fit snugly against the corresponding western seafloor of Europe and Africa (Sieh and LeVay 1998). Wegener proposed that all of the earth s continents once formed one single landmass, which he named Pangaea or all land . He concluded that Pangaea had broken up and separated due to the unidentifiable forces estimated 300 million years ago (Sieh and LeVay 1998). Geologists did not fully understand at the time that Earth s continents could drift (Hazen 2012). After all, the continents do not float in the oceans. I believe that I shall not be challenged in the assertion that the economic structure of a section or a nation is the foundation upon which its political structure must rest. For this reason, therefore, it will be necessary to know what the economic foundations of these sections were. Was the economic structure of the North such as to support a political democracy in fact as well as in form? There are two basic types of RFID tags. Active tags are larger and more expensive because they require an independent power supply to function, passive tags are cheaper, smaller and do not need a separate power supply (The Different Types of RFIDSystems, n.d.). Initially, we will be implementing the use of passive RFID tags, which will help control the costs of this project. Once the RFID project is functioning according to our expectations, we will expand our RFID system to include the use of active RFID tags. The implementation of RFID technology will require a significant financial investment for a system wide implementation. Depending upon the extent of our investment in RFID technology, we could enhance our control of access to certain areas, improve inventory management, and monitor our patients movements throughout our RFID equipped facilities (Niles, 2015, p. 384) Phase one of the RFID implementation project will increase the security of our facilities and parking structures. All hospital staff will be issued new employee identification badges that have integrated RFID tags inside of them. So for any kind of comparison of crime rates to work at all, it is crucial that the definitions of crimes and the categories they are placed in are similar. The next issue with definitions is that even the different organizations that compile crime statistics differ within their own definitions. INTERPOL for example defines murder as: Any act performed with the purpose of taking human life, excluding abortion but including infanticide (and including attempts).(Kalish, 1988) While the World Health Organization (WHO) does not distinguish between intentional or unintentional homicides but does not include attempts under this organization attempts fall under a separate legal distinction(Kalish, 1988). They only focused on the centers the countryside areas remained untouched because of the fear of rising revolts. Under the Musahbian family they did not impose any changes or taxes, especially no taxes in cash which means they made the ruraleconomy remain untouched. This means that there was no ... During this period, Afghanistanenjoyed peace and constancy. Nadir s policies of national gradualism and positive neutrality and friendship were rather effective, and enabled him to establish control over the domestic environment. One of the most essential domestic successes during Musahiban was the Economic development. The emergence of a merchant class for the first time in Afghanistan under Majed Zabulli s leadership was one of those successes that helped Afghanistan to modernize its economy. • 50. FINANCIAL ANALYSIS In order to analyze the proposal we compared the financial benefits for Axeon to support product manufacturing in the UK versus the Netherlands. See exhibits 1 and 2 for cash flow comparisons including financial summary. As seen in the cash flow analysis, economically makes sense to manufacture the product in Netherlands and ship it to U.K., that option has an NVP of ВЈ1,044,146 versus ВЈ915,976 NVP if the product is manufactured in U.K. ALTERNATIVE 1: Build the manufacturing plant in U.K. As proposed by Ian Wallingford, the building of a new manufacturing facility to produce AR 42 in U.K. is financially viable and sustainable for at least 7 years. Advantages: The manufacturing process would be located in U.K. therefore it is easier to facilitate speed to market by local distribution and management. Higher sense of accountability for Hollandsworth as they would not only sale it but manufacture it as well. Disadvantages: Lack of experience in developing and manufacturing a specialized product. This would be difficult in assessing variable costs. If the market analysis is not correct and the expected market share or sales volume are not reached, Hollandsworth will end up with not acceptable levels of IRR. i.e., if there is a decrease in expected market share of 27%, then ... • 51. Rappaccini s Daughter Discussion Questions I think these questions can best be answered through Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter. Before I answer those questions by using that particular story, I do want to say a couple of things about The Minister s Black Veil. I know there s supposed to be some sadness and a great message to this story, but I can t help it it made me laugh a lot. The gossiping, the speculation, the way that a stupid piece of material could totally change who someone was to everyone even though nothing about him really changed all of that made me laugh. One of the funniest things, and maybe it s not supposed to be funny but was to me, was when Mr. Hooper s sermon style or plea to his parishioners, was one of mild persuasive influences. That description really made me laugh, and so did the part about the corpse shuddering from seeing Mr. Hooper s face behind that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hooper was funny to me. The story just didn t affect me in the way that maybe it affects some people, and it s hard for me to answer these questions through that story, because the humor in it kept me from determining whether it was cryptic or straightforward. I guess I didn t find that story to be tragic, but Rappaccini s Daughter is quite the opposite for me. While I thought it was straightforward and not cryptic, I did find Rappaccini s Daughter to be completely depressing. I believe the meaning is very clear at the end. To me, it was saying that selfish intentions of wanting more often lead to the destruction of the really truly important things in life of the simple and beautiful things. Rappaccini was so obsessed with his experiments and his own genius that he didn t seem to mind risking his own simple yet beautiful daughter. During her entire life, he did this! Eventually, it hit him what he had done to his own daughter. He realized he was the reason she lived a life of loneliness and seclusion. Sadly, he realized too late ... • 52. Essay on Fathead Commercial Analysis American culture has become littered with commercials the past few decades. It does not matter if you are watching television or reading a magazine, you are bound to come across some advertisement promoting a product that you supposedly need to make life easier. James Twitchell even goes on to say that The culture we live in is carried on the back of advertising (Twitchell). Some commercials try to woo you in with sappysongs and sad images, while others take a path that will create good feelings and laughter that will leave you thinking about their product all day. Fathead, a company that sells huge life like posters of athletes and other popular figures, takes the latter approach to selling their product. Their new Clay Matthews,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Matthews also makes many sarcastic remarks to the supposed home owners. The commercial even shows a cat with a bag full of money robbing the house. The way Matthews applies comedic satire to the commercial leaves people with a warm, funny feeling that makes them want a fathead, which is the whole point of producing the commercial. Just as many other companies use testimonial to endorse their products, Fathead exploits the popularity of Clay Matthews to sell fatheads. Matthews is an NFL superstar that is beloved by many sports fanatics. Matthews is also perfect for selling fatheads because the majority of fatheads are sports orientated. While having someone as popular as Clay Matthews is already enough to bring in big profit, Fathead also puts him in a comedic light, which only adds to the amount of support Fathead earns. With an adored figure like Clay Matthews selling products, it is highly likely for that commercial to succeed. Fathead most likely had huge success in selling fatheads because their Clay Matthews, Handyman commercial used many popular strategies to bring in customers, such as a friendly setting, comedic appeal, and a powerful testimonial. Fathead used all these tactics to produce an almost perfect commercial that will put a smile on anyone s face. Many commercials may use the same format that Fathead uses but with the combination of a great product and the comedic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
