Time and space is an intriguing concept. Arthur Miller s (1949) Death of a Salesman
and Tennessee Williams (1945) The Glass Menagerie both implement these concepts
in different ways. Death of a Salesman is told through the perspective of a man who
is imagining his memories, while at the same time, living his everyday life. The
Glass Menagerie, similarly, is told through the memories of the narrator, Tom
Wingfield, but not while he is living his present life. The characters in both stories
reminisce of their past regrets. However, the intent of the author s use of time and
space to reach the reader is different in these stories.

What is a citizen and where does she practice her citizenship? These questions cannot
be answered unless accompanied by sufficient knowledge of how different types of
citizenships are formed and how these citizenships are practiced. There is not one
singular type of citizen that permeates the world or even the United States an
intermingled and enmeshed notion of citizenship is acted out through a combination
of rights and duties as the citizen attempts to hold onto those values that are most
important to them. Chantal Mouffe (1993) proposes a form of citizenship that lies
somewhere between liberalismand civic republicanism. Michael Brown (1997) then
explores where this radical democratic citizenship is practiced. What we are left...
Mouffe s (1993) radical democratic citizenship is a common political identity of
persons who might be engaged in many different purposive enterprises and with
differing conceptions of the good, but who accept submission to the rules as
prescribed by liberalism (235). It is an antagonistic and purposefully driven
citizenship that both follows the rules of liberal democratic society as well as
struggles for a more inclusive and radical interpretation of equality. Mouffe (1993)
summarizes, What binds [citizens] together is their common recognition of a set of
ethico political values. In this case, citizenship is not just one identity among others
as in liberalism or the dominant identity that overrides all others as in civic
republicanism (235). The radical democratic citizen becomes an active social agent
capable of making change and pursuing her goals while at the same time allowing for
a plurality of these agents with differing goals and thus respecting negative freedom.
Where Mouffe makes claim to a new type of citizenship, Brown attempts to

My friends had motorcycles before I got my hands on one and it was probably on
one of these machines eventually the idea of helping my parents clouded over. In
Pakistan, gas prices are high, so having a small displacement motorcycle sure cut

My Fear Of Clowns
Since I was little, I would be terrified of clowns. I would avoid them at all cost from
pretending to be sick to misbehaving and getting grounded just so I will have an
excuse as to why I did not attend birthday parties or any event that I presumed would
involve the attendance of a clown. I never told anyone of said fearfor the reason that I
would be treated differently and looked upon as weak. I always kept it to myself
hoping that one day it would magically disappear but it never did. As the years
passed, my phobiaof clowns prodigiously increased to the point I would have panic
attacks from merely the thought of myself being in the presence of one. My
compulsion of continuous denial came to an end when my phobia of clowns was
clearly evident. Autumn had just commenced so the leaves began to change from
stunning lime green to a beautiful golden yellow. The wind furiously blew
everything in its course without remorse. Although windy, the weather was
