Abstract
This report aims to analyse and discuss the results of carrying out tensile tests for two materials, in
this case Mild Steel and Nylon. The purpose of this is to use the information generated to calculate
Young s Modulus, Yield Stress, Tensile Strength
, and Percentage Elongation. These properties must
be known before designing a product using the materials tested, because the anticipated behaviour
of the material must be suitable for the design specification, with a margin left for safety.
The test followed the standard procedure for tensile testing; force was applied to a specimen of
known dimensions, and the resulting extension was recorded, thus allowing a stress strain graph to
be generated. The bottom of the specimen was secured into the crosshead of a tensile test machine,
and the top secured to the load cell. An extensometer is placed on the specimen to measure
extension. The test is complete when the force applied by raising the load cell at a constant rate
causes the specimen to fail.

Understanding Learning and Memory with the Morris Water Maze
Abstract
The overstimulation of GABA inhibitory receptors in the hippocampus has been found to obstruct
spatial learning and memory. Ethanol was administered to male Swiss Webster mice in low and
high doses in order to test its pharmacological effects on memory. The Morris water maze
experiment was conducted as the experimental basis of understanding ethanol s capacity to inhibit
and/or suppress cognition, specifically memory in the hippocampus. Three individually marked,
male, 47 day old Swiss Webster mice per 5 groups were used to conduct the Morris water maze
experiment. The average time spent in the water amongst all 3 experimental groups decreased post
injection; with the 10% ethanol treated mice having the best memory recall. There were a few
factors that may have contributed to the surprising results of the experiment, such as a small sample
size and varying tolerance levels. Understanding the role of GABA and glutamate in cognition can
provide the foundation for further research and experimentation of memory formation and recall in
the hippocampus.
Introduction
Learning and memory have been topics of particular interest to neuroscientists and
neurophysiologists alike for several years and have become a phenomenon in scientific research and
behavioral neuroscience. The hippocampus is the control station of spatial learning and memory in

The Use of Rhetorical Devices in John Winthrop s A Model of Christian Charity In 1630, John
Winthrop made a speech to the Puritans while on the Arabella as they headed to what is now North
America. This speech is entitled A Model of Christian Charity, and was designed to instruct the
Puritans on how to behave in this New World . Winthrop utilizes many rhetorical devices in this
speech to enhance its meaning. Some of these devices include metaphors, question and answer
segments, and juxtaposition. Winthrop uses these rhetorical devices for a variety of reasons, either
to further prove a point or bring more attention to a particular idea. Throughout his speech,
Winthrop uses metaphors to make the concepts he is talking about more relatable

Analysis Of The Article Ending A Price Promotion
Ending a Price Promotion:
Reflecting It in One Step or Phasing It out Gradually
Description of the basic purpose/focus of the article and the research questions addressed Concisely
describe the purpose or goal of the research, including the primary research questions posed by the
authors, the primary variables under discussion, and why the authors believed this research is
important.
Numerous studies have been conducted on how price promotions have been proven to be profitable
in the long run. The greater the reward, the less effort required to obtain it, and the sooner it is
obtained after the behavior, the more likely the promotion will be influential (Peter Olson, 2013).

have marketplace potential.
Description of the procedure used Provide a clear overview of the methods used in the research
such as interviews, surveys, etc. Also include the number or respondents and the types of analysis
(including statistical analysis) that was involved.
Given the research between hi lo pricing, alternative pricing (SDD) and EDLP, There are 4 studies
that were used to examine the effectiveness of these tactics. In a theoretical framework, the first
study indicates steadily decreasing discounts generates higher future price expectations, leads to
greater anticipated inaction regret each of which affects purchase likelihood and generates more
revenue than hi lo or EDLP. The second study shows firsthand support that there are no negative
perceptions for employing SDD tactics effectiveness. Thirdly, the study examined the relativeness
of hi lo pricing to SDD tactics which resulted in revenues being higher when using SDD method.
Finally, in the fourth panel approach a scanner panel data was to uncover several instances of the
effectiveness of the SDD. This scanner allows companies for monitoring a number of stages in a
purchase sequence (Peter Olson, 2013). This system predicts which

gothic lit is a writing genre from the south, which means that stories that are written under this
format usually focus on grotesque themes. The writing usually focuses in characters that are in

relies on ironic or unusual events. For example in Desiree s baby the writer makes it seem like

Essay on Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis is a digestive disorder in which the motility of the stomach is either abnormal or
absent. Gastro means stomach and paresis means weakness. Gastroparesis is a weak stomach. This
condition is very common. It can be the cause of a number of abdominal complaints. It is usually
not a serious problem and there are effective treatments available.
In normal health, when the stomach is functioning normally. The stomach has two parts. The upper
portion is called the fundus which is where swallowed food and liquid collect. The lower portion is
called the antrum. This is the stomach grinder. It is where food is churned back and forth until it is
broken into small fragments and then squirted out into the duodenum, ... Show more content on

Fortunately, gastric emptying resumes and symptoms improve when food intake and eating
schedules normalize. Symptoms of gastroparesis include bloating, nausea, and early fullness while
eating meals, heartburn, and epigastric pain. The most common symptom is early satiety, or the
sensation of feeling full shortly after starting a meal. Nausea and vomiting are also common. A
person with gastroparesis may vomit undigested food many hours after their last meal. Weight loss
can occur due to poor absorption of nutrients, or taking in too few calories.
The diagnosis of gastroparesis starts with the medical history where the physician may suspect the
diagnosis based on the symptoms. A gastric or stomach emptying test is presently the best method
of making the diagnosis. In this test, a food, such as scrambled eggs, is labeled with a marker,
which can be seen by a scanner. Following ingestion, the scanner tracks the time it takes for the
food to leave the stomach. In general, half the stomach contents should leave within about 90
minutes. A final test is the electrogastrogram (EGG). This test, like the EKG on the heart, measures
the electrical waves that normally sweep over the stomach and precede each contraction.
Diet is one of the foundations of treatment for those who suffer from gastroparesis. Some foods are
more difficult than others for the stomach to digest. Fatty foods take a longer time to digest, so do
foods that

How Did Charles Perkins Impact Australian Society
Charles Perkins played an extremely significant role in the struggle for rights and freedom of
Aboriginal people. He was born in 1936 and was an Australian Aboriginal activist, the first
Australian Aboriginal to graduate from university, and he also led the freedom ride in 1965. He
was a manager of the Foundation for Aboriginal Affairs, an organisation that took a key role in
getting a Yes vote for the 1967 referendum regarding Aboriginal rights. His controversial actions
allowed him to successfully reduce discrimination against aboriginals. He has also exposed the
discrimination and segregation that existed in Australian society, he then tried to educate the
Australian society to reduce racial discrimination and get greater equality or indigenous Australians.
Perkins was later elected as the deputy chairperson of the Australiaand Torres straight islander

inherently unjust to punish certain crimes more harshly than others simply because the victim is
a member of a special chosen group, it demeans those who aren t considered special and is

Colonial American Identity
In Britain s eyes, Colonial America was nothing but another piece of land that earned them money,
but as it began to be acknowledged by other powerful countries for its self sufficient lifestyle, it
shaped an identity, ultimately becoming the strong, independent nation, it is today. However, it was
anything but easy for America to form in the first place. From 1765 to 1783, the American
Revolutiontook place and was overall, the process used to overthrow the oppressive British and
purge them from America. Britain s establishment of harsh policies concerning many freedoms,
political ideologies, and economic rights obligated the colonists to fight for their independence. The
American Colonies thought that they were ready and able to create a society with the power of
unity, supported by democracy and economic prosperities. The American revolution was eventually
instigated by the identity of American colonists of which evolved through the formation of unity,
political, and economic influences.
It was necessary that the settlements set aside their disparities unite amid the French and Indian
War when they were aligning with the British. In 1754, the first year of the French and Indian War,
Benjamin Franklin s acclaimed Join or Die cartoon was distributed in Philadelphia. The drawing,
which demonstrates the colonies as a feature of a cut up snaked, truly prompted unification. Unity

When the wind is southerly, I know a hawk from a handsaw. (Act 2, scene 2, line 402 403). The
reason that Polonius, who was hiding to spy on Hamlet, died was because Hamlet s madness got
the better of him. Hamlet didn t take the time to see who was behind the curtain and just acted
because he let the madness for avenging his father s death cloud his judgment. Ophelia hearing
that Hamlet killed her father sent her into madness. The similarity would be that just like how
Hamlet, let avenging his father death cloud his judgment Ophelia let her father s death cloud
her judgment by driving herself into a depressed state A document in madness: thoughts and

Global Warming And Global Climate Change
Global warming and global climate change has been a consistent news headline and global topic
for the past two decades. From a political standpoint, there has been great debate as to whether or
not humans are completely to blame, partially to blame, or to blame at all for the changes we are
seeing in the Earths climate. However, from a scientific perspective, this is not the case. From the
Kyoto Protocol, to dummy downed explanation like in Al Gore s An Inconvenient Truth , to
NASA s comprehensive monitoring of the Earth s vital signs , the idea that the human race has
had a gigantic and irreversible effect on the global climate is the consensus among the scientific
community. According to one major study, ninety seven percent of climate scientists those who
solely focus on studying the earth s climate agree that the changes we are seeing are very likely
caused by human activity ( very likely being with at least 95% certainty). (W.R.L. Anderegg)
Unfortunately, scientific evidence does not always correlate with proactive measures in society.
Taking the United State s government and society as a case study, large scale projects or changes
tend to be reactionary with contemporary issues. While frustrating, this fact can be somewhat
understandable for a few major issues like military force or foreign economic aid (due prudence
for the best course of action). Unfortunately, this doesn t seem to be the case for the global climate;
that is, Mother Nature does not wait for

Although as the females age, their household tasks and other responsibilities would increase greatly.
As Jacobs grew older in Dr. Flint s family she was accustomed to share things with the children of
the mistress. Women of slavery during this time would be frequently called to even nurse their
mistresses children so that even the mother was not disturbed in her sleep by her own child.
Jacobs herself speaks of her Aunt Nancy in the novel who did this exact thing for many years,
and it was obvious of aspects of life and what the slave had to do with taking the needs of the
white child versus her own child. Jacobs was in a sense employed as a night nurse to Mrs. Flint s
children rather than her own children at night. This broke Jacobs mentally, physically, and
emotionally to where finally Dr. Flint made it clear that it was nearly impossible she could be a
mother of any living child of her own. This comes straight from her book and shows an almost

Driving Vs Text Analysis
Throughout history the need to communicate with one another has been essential to the success of
any civilization. With the necessary need to communicate, the manner in which we communicate
has evolved. Ways to communicate have gone from repeatedly telling stories over and over again
through generations, to now, being able to communicate with someone in seconds, on other side of
the world. Now with one device, the phone, you can communicate not only in seconds with
someone but communicate in multiple ways. One such way is the texting or messaging method.
Having the capability at any moment to receive and reply to a text has its advantages but also has
unintended disadvantages. That ability can distract the sender and receiver while performing tasks
leading to an accident. Driving is one area that has seen a rise in accidents because of the
distraction. Texting during inappropriate times can distract both sender and receiver, creating
unsafe moments, which can lead to accidents; accidents that otherwise would not have happened,
therefore what can be done about texting and driving?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Core Concert Dance
The CORE Concert Dance Company show presented the dance style of contemporary with the
addition to aerial choreography. The dancers presented many movements through the use of their
bodies that stemmed from choreography in ballet and modern dance moves. With contemporary
being my all time favorite style, the dancers provided a sense of freedom, expression, and
unpredictability in the ways they articulated the movement of the body itself and the objects that
were used. In many of the different pieces that were shown, I noticed that many of the dancers
movements in the choreographyinvolved the torso. The use the torso enabled me to capture the
movement of relaxation that gave off a sense of fluidity and ease through the transition of the next...

The movement related to the four core principles: personal style, improvisation, dynamic play, and a
deep connection to the music in order to convey an expression and a sense of rhythmic movement.
During the performance there were a lot of joyousness and call and response in the
choreography. The areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were
suspended in the air while doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show
the use of the kinetic elements such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot
gave an insight on how much training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body
isolations when they had to do splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air.
Without the isolations in the body movement and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be
very difficult to manage since it requires control and articulation of certain body parts.
Contemporary dance can be thought of as jazz derived or jazz influenced, but jazz will always
remain strict on what the movement is supposed to be and how it supposed to be articulated. One
of the main differences between contemporary and jazz is that in jazz gravity is felt a different
way. In contemporary there is an urge to give into gravity such

Moral Of Antigone
The play begins as Antigone and her sister Ismene speak of the death of their brothers Polyneices
and Eteocles. However, it is important to note that what events precluded this scene, which was
sparked by Eteocles s taking reign of the Thebes after Oedipus had died. It ultimately caused
Polyneices to wage a battle against his former city and drove the two brothers to kill one another
(Sophocles8). Thus, leaving Creonwho was both of brother s uncle in control of the city of Thebes.
Antigoneand Ismene discuss the proclamation newly put forth by Creon which was due to the fact
that Polyneices committed treason against Thebes he would not be granted a burial, thus foregoing
the Unwritten Law protecting the rights of the dead (Sophocles 9). It was this decree that provoked
Antigone to opposed Creon as she decides to bury Polyneices herself and she attempts to recruit
Ismene to help her with this action, however, Ismene tried to persuade Antigone not to go through
with the burial.
As the play progresses it comes to Creon s attention by one of the guards that Polynieces body has
been buried and eventually the guard determined it was Antigone and brings her in front of Creon.

role of Ismene who was more concerned with respecting the law and doing what she was told by
the authority in power. For she was fearful of the repercussions the that would be inflicted upon her
if she disobeyed the law rejecting Polyneices burial. She let fear take control and ultimately affect

The European Union Of Ban Commercial Seal Products
Abstract
This paper delves into the disputes brought against the European Union by Canada and Norway.
In doing so, the specifics of the disputes will be discussed and the World Trade Organization s
policies and procedures that have thus far allowed for the European Union to ban commercial seal
products from these two countries. The research done on the topic of sealing will cover the
regulations in both the Canadian and Norwegian seal fishing and also how their communities are
impacted economically. The European Union s main argument is that neither of these countries
regulations on humane killing are efficient enough in ensuring that humane killings can occur at all
times. Because of this, they continue to defend that their regulations go ... Show more content on

They have several arguments, including the following: seal products from Canada and Norway are
treated less favorably compared to the European Union s (EU) domestic seal products and
Greenland s, the EU Seal Regime (measure that prohibits seal products into the EU) creates
obstacles and trade restrictions that are unnecessary and that some of the procedural requirements
go against requirements of the conformity assessment, Travellers conditions create quantitative
restrictions on trade, and the Regime hurts any benefits accrued to them under covered agreements
(Panel Report, 2013). The EU, on the other hand, claims that their Seal Regime meets obligations of
the World Trade Organization(WTO). Three conditions applied to seal products are as follows:
the products were received from seals hunted by Inuit or Indigenous communities, the products
were received from seals hunted for marine resource management, and travelers are allowed to
bring seal products in limitation. The EU claims that the regulations put into place in 2009 and
2010 were implemented because of public moral concerns involving the welfare of seals; people
should not cause suffering of animals without clear justification (Europa, 2013). The EU argue that
inconsistencies claimed by Canada and Norway within the GATT 1994 should be considered as
justified because they are working to protect public morals and seals health. They also argue that,
under the TBT Agreement, any

Hydrogen Atoms And Hydrogen Molecules
Water is a molecule which is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Water can
appear in forms like gasses (steam/water vapor from a kettle), liquids (drinking water or mineral
water), and a solid form (ice is the only example of solidified water). The human body has more
than a half of total water content. Water has specialised properties as the hydrogen (2 atoms) and
oxygen(1 atom) connect to each other to make a water molecule. The hydrogen atoms join the top of
the water molecule when the hydrogen atoms connect with oxygen. This structure means that the
water has polarity. Polarity is an electric charge which has the power to get the attention of other
atoms. The last part of the water molecule contains two hydrogen bonds which are positively
charged however, the hydrogen bondwhich connects the oxygen to the hydrogen s is negatively
charged that is why they have each other s attention as opposites attract. Water has a high
specific heat capacity of 4181 J/Kg degrees which is higher than oxygen which has 918 J/Kg
degrees. If water is clean then the pH will be 7.Water has a neutral pH in its uncontaminated form
(pH 7).The intermolecular forces which are found in water are hydrogen bonding. Due to
hydrogen bonding the boiling point of water is high because hydrogen bonding is very powerful.
The hydrogen bonds are sticky this is what makes the hydrogen molecules join to the oxygen
molecule. It is not as powerful as covalent bonds but it is more powerful

Imal A Short Story
Sunlight streamed down on the desert surface as just under the sands, bruised knuckles punched
through the flimsy wooden top of a makeshift coffin. As the dirt poured into the closed space, the
unfortunate person inside packed the dirt towards her feet and the sides of the rectangular box.
After enough sand and dirt was freed, the woman sat forward and crawled up and out, using her
upper body strength to pull her out of her own sandy grave. As she stood up, blinking in the
blaring heat, the woman, Imala, gripped her shawl down to cover her dark skin from the sun.
Her long dark hair was pulled into a braid, easy for her cowboy hat to sit atop her head. Upon
feeling the sun s heat on the top of her head, she cursed in Apache.

cried out in pain and she tackled both him and Sebastian out of the door, off the train. Forgotten in
the fight, Eli got up, appearing stunned and realized he now had to take the controls.
Meanwhile, the skirmish continued outside while the three figures rolled out onto the desert sands
with a thud. Imala was still outgunned, but now Eli could take the train back to Grace.
You ve really done it now, missy. The bossattempted to get up, but Sebastian decked her across the

children and their development. How does the child attach to his or her adoptive parents? How
does the child view themselves in regards to a family unit when siblings are involved? How do
the parents view the child s placement in the family after a certain period of time has passed? All
of these variables can be observed in study after study. But for sake of this paper, we are going to

a set of twin girls. She has had 4 other boys removed now, ages 5, 3, and a set of twin boys who
are 18 months. CPS has already stated that the children she is pregnant with now will be
removed as well upon their birth. So in a case such as hers, she was given a year to prove to the
courts that she wanted to work towards keeping her twins, they set up visitation for her at the cps
office, as well as classes for her to attend, weekly drug screens, parenting classes, and set financial
goals she had to meet.

The Theory of Absolutism Essay
The Theory of Absolutism Absolute monarchy or absolutism meant that the sovereign power or
ultimate authority in the state rested in the hands of a king who claimed to rule by divine right.
But what did sovereignty mean? Late sixteenth century political theorists believed that sovereign
power consisted of the authority to make laws, tax, administer justice, control the state s
administrative system, and determine foreign policy. These powers made a ruler sovereign. One
of the chief theorists of divine right monarchy in the seventeenth century was the French
theologian and court preacher Bishop Jacques Bossuet (1627 1704), who expressed his ideas in a

Kandinsky Vs Klee
Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee are two of the famous artists of abstract art. They both had
started their painting life since 1900, and they had had friendship during their lifetime. Which is
easier to compare their artworks by year and find the similarities of how they were influent by
each other. Such as Kandinsky s Improvisation and Klee s Colour shape in 1914, Kandinsky s
Black Increasing and Klee s Black Knight in 1927. Thus, the four paintingwould be the artworks to
compare. Two artists have the same perspective toward art. First, Kandinsky not only sees
colours as different moods but also sees them as the sounds of music. He also assigned
instrument tones to go with each colour: Red sounded like a trumpet; Green sounded like a
middle position violin; Light Blue sounded like flute; Dark Blue sounded like a cello, Yellow
sounded like a fanfare of trumpets; and White sounded like the pause in a harmonious melody.
(Kandinsky) It is a special perspective to see or hear art. In the same way, Klee was a musician
which found the resemblance between art and music.

The Impact Of Technology And Its Impact On The World
As the time goes on, technology becomes more popular and essential for most people s daily life.
Technology also becomes more dominant in every aspects on life such as working, studying, and
even doing housework. It has radically changed the way human interacts with the world; for
instance, people only communicated in person or through postal mails decades ago, and technology
helped changing the traditional communication style into a faster one through texting and instant
messaging. There are three perspectives on the impact of technology to humanity. First
perspective is about its positive contributions to the society for the past few years. It has shorten
many time consuming tasks that made us have scratched our heads when thinking about them.
Second perspective is about some cons of relying on technology too much such as becoming
more lazy and lacking of motivation of doing things as well as disconnecting from reality and
real people. The third perspective is about its uses for some people in developing countries.
Technology does not help them much since these people do not have enough money to afford it.
Therefore, its prohibited cost makes itself inaccessible in some countries. Technology actually has
made life better but relying on its automatic nature too much can lead to being enslaved for it. First
of all, I fully agree on the first perspective that technology has positively contributed a lot to the
society. It is growing rapidly in the recent years. That means

Our Social And Private Values Impact Our Lives
Welcome to planet Earth, here on earth things are very differently than they are on Procyon A
and B. Values and attitudes are what guide our day to day decisions on every aspect of our lives.
It is very important to understand how our social and private values impact our everyday lives. I
am going to tell you how we manage to stay organized here on earth. Some time ago, a man named
Shalom H Schwartz came up with a theory on humanvalues which became known as The Schwartz
Theory. The Schwartz Theory is something which explains how us humans experience every day
in our lives. This theory proposes various human types made up of what he called Bipolar
Dimensionwhich is then split up into 4 categories however, I will only mention the First and
Second Bipolar Dimension below for now as they are most relatable ones.
The First Bipolar Dimension includes Self Enhancement , which is the pursuit of one s own
interests and relative success as the motivation that makes us humans feel good about ourselves. It

physical needs. We humans, must sometimes take time to ourselves thought the day to put our
mind and body in a calm state.
We sometimes do this using various

The Treatment Plan Of Mulch
Methodology
The treatment plan of mulch, compost top dressing, and compost tea application was carried out
over a few weeks. During Week One, the plants were transplanted and intercropped (Figure 1). A 6
inch space was maintained between each crop to ensure room for growth. The plot was then
divided into two portions, one for control plants and the other for treatment plants. Once the plot
was divided, a 3 6 inch layer of straw mulch was added to the treatment portion. The total number of
plants in the control and treatment plots was 200 and 195, respectively.
During Week Two, a top dressing of compost was added to energize the soil and add supplemental
nutrition to aid plant growth. The dry, depleted nature of the soil prompted the addition of compost
tea, which was prepared with the recipe shown in Figure 2 and applied directly to the soil during
Week 3. Plants were weeded and thinned regularly twice a week for the first three weeks post
transplantation. From then on, the plot was regularly monitored and weeded.
The water schedule remained consistent throughout the experiment. Water was applied to the plants
via drip irrigation for one hour a day, three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).
Results Looking at the raw data, the trends between the control groups and treatment groups are
highly varied. Among all plant species, the treatment led to an average increase in plant height, a
varied increase or decrease in fresh root weight and aboveground biomass, and

The Negative Effects Of The Media Affects Children
The media can manipulate the youth s ideas and thoughts and make them conform to the thoughts
and ideas to those of the advertisers. Assuming that the media does not care for the interest of the
youth ,and children are susceptible to be manipulated because they have not fully formulated their
own opinions and ideas on certain subjects, therefore their premeditated conceptions are able to be
changed easily because they can be influenced. Thus, the media can negatively affectthe youth and
their viewpoints on controversial issues, their minds are still young and forming, so they will
believe whatever people say without doing further research for themselves to know it is factual or
not.
The media is not looking out for the best interest of the youth. Advertising in the media can bring
upon misinterpretation in a child s mind. Children are exposed to advertising all day, whether it is
on the television, their phone, or advertisements around the city the advertisers have strategies to
advertise their products to children (Barve G, Sood A, Nithya S, Virmani T). The media puts false
images or ideas in their minds making the children believe something that isn t true. The media
does not care how it affects the child, but they should. It affects the children negatively because it
is not an accurate depiction of what they are advertising. Furthermore, all the advertising indeed has
some effects on children because research has stated that young children (in an age group of 8

Generally, companies will only go forth with a debt issue if the interest coverage ratio is over 1.5 (Couch, 2012). In this case, the Wm Wrigley Jr Company had an annual growth in revenues of 10% and earnings growth of 9%. In 2001, the EBIT stood at $527,366,000 as shown in exhibit 7 (see Appendix A). Wrigley had an interest coverage ratio of 1.47 (see appendix Interest Coverage Ratio calculations ) which is borderline and questionable regarding the company s ability to repay loan interest. showing the ability to repay loan interest is borderline questionable. If we look at exhibit 6 (see Appendix), we can see that 1.47 is indeed between B and BB; non investment grade; due in part because WACC has only increased by 0.001% (see appendix WACC ). The purpose of this is to use the information generated to calculate Young s Modulus, Yield Stress, Tensile Strength , and Percentage Elongation. These properties must be known before designing a product using the materials tested, because the anticipated behaviour of the material must be suitable for the design specification, with a margin left for safety. The test followed the standard procedure for tensile testing; force was applied to a specimen of known dimensions, and the resulting extension was recorded, thus allowing a stress strain graph to be generated. The bottom of the specimen was secured into the crosshead of a tensile test machine, and the top secured to the load cell. An extensometer is placed on the specimen to measure

Nwokochah BIO 482L Lab Report 18 October 2015 Understanding Learning and Memory with the Morris Water Maze Abstract The overstimulation of GABA inhibitory receptors in the hippocampus has been found to obstruct spatial learning and memory. Ethanol was administered to male Swiss Webster mice in low and high doses in order to test its pharmacological effects on memory. The Morris water maze experiment was conducted as the experimental basis of understanding ethanol s capacity to inhibit and/or suppress cognition, specifically memory in the hippocampus. Three individually marked, male, 47 day old Swiss Webster mice per 5 groups were used to conduct the Morris water maze experiment. The average time spent in the water amongst all 3 experimental groups decreased post injection; with the 10% ethanol treated mice having the best memory recall. There were a few factors that may have contributed to the surprising results of the experiment, such as a small sample size and varying tolerance levels. Understanding the role of GABA and glutamate in cognition can provide the foundation for further research and experimentation of memory formation and recall in the hippocampus. Introduction Learning and memory have been topics of particular interest to neuroscientists and neurophysiologists alike for several years and have become a phenomenon in scientific research and behavioral neuroscience. The hippocampus is the control station of spatial learning and memory in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Symptoms of gastroparesis include bloating, nausea, and early fullness while eating meals, heartburn, and epigastric pain. The most common symptom is early satiety, or the sensation of feeling full shortly after starting a meal. Nausea and vomiting are also common. A person with gastroparesis may vomit undigested food many hours after their last meal. Weight loss can occur due to poor absorption of nutrients, or taking in too few calories. The diagnosis of gastroparesis starts with the medical history where the physician may suspect the diagnosis based on the symptoms. A gastric or stomach emptying test is presently the best method of making the diagnosis. In this test, a food, such as scrambled eggs, is labeled with a marker, which can be seen by a scanner. Following ingestion, the scanner tracks the time it takes for the food to leave the stomach. In general, half the stomach contents should leave within about 90 minutes. A final test is the electrogastrogram (EGG). This test, like the EKG on the heart, measures the electrical waves that normally sweep over the stomach and precede each contraction. From a political standpoint, there has been great debate as to whether or not humans are completely to blame, partially to blame, or to blame at all for the changes we are seeing in the Earths climate. However, from a scientific perspective, this is not the case. From the Kyoto Protocol, to dummy downed explanation like in Al Gore s An Inconvenient Truth , to NASA s comprehensive monitoring of the Earth s vital signs , the idea that the human race has had a gigantic and irreversible effect on the global climate is the consensus among the scientific community. According to one major study, ninety seven percent of climate scientists those who solely focus on studying the earth s climate agree that the changes we are seeing are very likely caused by human activity ( very likely being with at least 95% certainty). (W.R.L. Anderegg) Unfortunately, scientific evidence does not always correlate with proactive measures in society. Taking the United State s government and society as a case study, large scale projects or changes tend to be reactionary with contemporary issues. With the necessary need to communicate, the manner in which we communicate has evolved. Ways to communicate have gone from repeatedly telling stories over and over again through generations, to now, being able to communicate with someone in seconds, on other side of the world. Now with one device, the phone, you can communicate not only in seconds with someone but communicate in multiple ways. One such way is the texting or messaging method. Having the capability at any moment to receive and reply to a text has its advantages but also has unintended disadvantages. That ability can distract the sender and receiver while performing tasks leading to an accident. Driving is one area that has seen a rise in accidents because of the distraction. The movement related to the four core principles: personal style, improvisation, dynamic play, and a deep connection to the music in order to convey an expression and a sense of rhythmic movement. The areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were suspended in the air while doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show the use of the kinetic elements such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot gave an insight on how much training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body isolations when they had to do splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air. Without the isolations in the body movement and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be very difficult to manage since it requires control and articulation of certain body parts. • 25. Hydrogen Atoms And Hydrogen Molecules Water is a molecule which is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Water can appear in forms like gasses (steam/water vapor from a kettle), liquids (drinking water or mineral water), and a solid form (ice is the only example of solidified water). The human body has more than a half of total water content. Water has specialised properties as the hydrogen (2 atoms) and oxygen(1 atom) connect to each other to make a water molecule. The hydrogen atoms join the top of the water molecule when the hydrogen atoms connect with oxygen. This structure means that the water has polarity. Polarity is an electric charge which has the power to get the attention of other atoms. The last part of the water molecule contains two hydrogen bonds which are positively charged however, the hydrogen bondwhich connects the oxygen to the hydrogen s is negatively charged that is why they have each other s attention as opposites attract. Water has a high specific heat capacity of 4181 J/Kg degrees which is higher than oxygen which has 918 J/Kg degrees. If water is clean then the pH will be 7.Water has a neutral pH in its uncontaminated form (pH 7).The intermolecular forces which are found in water are hydrogen bonding. Due to hydrogen bonding the boiling point of water is high because hydrogen bonding is very powerful. The hydrogen bonds are sticky this is what makes the hydrogen molecules join to the oxygen molecule. It is not as powerful as covalent bonds but it is more powerful ... I am going to tell you how we manage to stay organized here on earth. Some time ago, a man named Shalom H Schwartz came up with a theory on humanvalues which became known as The Schwartz Theory. The Schwartz Theory is something which explains how us humans experience every day in our lives. This theory proposes various human types made up of what he called Bipolar Dimensionwhich is then split up into 4 categories however, I will only mention the First and Second Bipolar Dimension below for now as they are most relatable ones. The First Bipolar Dimension includes Self Enhancement , which is the pursuit of one s own interests and relative success as the motivation that makes us humans feel good about ourselves. It is like a daily competition with ourselves and if that goal isn t achieved it tends to create in us feeling of a personal failure. Another category included in the first dimension is called Self Transcendence and it is measured by how far we come in our spiritual journey transcending our physical needs.
