The Shankaracharya Sanctuary
The Shankaracharya Sanctuary otherwise called the Jyesteshwara sanctuary or Pas Pahar by
Buddhists, is arranged in the Zabarwan Mountain in Srinagar, Kashmir.
It is committed to Master Shiva.
The sanctuary is on the summit of the same name at a stature of 1,000 feet (300 m) over the plain and
sits above the city of Srinagar.
History and advancement
The sanctuary goes once again to 200 BC, despite the fact that the present structure likely goes over to
the ninth century Advertisement.
It was gone to by Adi Shankara and has after been connected with him; this is the means by which the
hill/temple got the name Shankaracharya.
It is additionally viewed as holy by Buddhists.
The Shiv ling was put inside by Adi Shankaracharya on his visit to Kashmir; it turned into a Hindu
sanctuary.
As stated by Pandit Anand Koul (1924) the sanctuary was initially assembled by Sandiman who, as
stated by Koul, ruled in Kashmir from 2629 to 2564 BC.
It was repaired by Lord Gopaditya (426 365 BC) and by Ruler Lalitaditya (697 734).2 Its top was
additionally repaired by Zain ul Abidin after a seismic tremor; later, its arch was repaired by Sheik
Ghulam Mohiuddin, a Sikh senator (1841 1846).
The most punctual chronicled reference to the mound originates from Kalhana. He called the
mountain Gopadri. Kalhana additionally says that Lord Gopaditya allowed the area at the foot of the
rise to the Brahmins that had hailed from the Araya versh.
The area stipend was called GOPA

Psychological Theories Of Behavioral Finance
Behavioural Finance
Introduction
Behavioural finance is a relatively new area of evolving research in finance. Behavioural finance seek
to combine behavioural and cognitive psychological theory with conventional economics and finance
to get a better understanding for why individual investors make irrational financial decisions.
According to Sewell (2007), Behavioural finance is the study of the influence of psychology on the
behaviour of financial practitioners and the subsequent effect on markets. The science focuses on the
effects of individual investors making decisions based on hunches or emotions.
Ritter (2003, p.429), describes behavioural finance is based on psychology which suggests that human
decision processes are subject to several cognitive illusions. These illusions are divided into two
groups as illusions caused by heuristic decision process and illusions rooted from the adoption of
mental frames grouped in the prospect theory (Waweru et al., 2008, p.27)
People may make predictable, non optimal choices when faced with difficult and uncertain decisions
because of heuristic simplification. Behavioral biases, abstractly, are defined in the same way as
systematic errors are, in judgment (Chen et al, 2007).
Behavioral finance theories, which are based on the psychology, attempt to understand how the
psychological variables (heuristics, prospect, and herding) and perceived risk behaviour (Risk
Perception, Risk attitude and Risk Propensity) influence individual

The University of Michigan Fab Five Essay
There seems to be a fine line, a three point line, between pushing the envelope and pushing a
revolution. In 1991, five freshmen from the University of Michigan brashly stepped over that line
redefining the world of college basketball as we knew it and in the process, revolutionized the
relationship between style and sport. These men were fresh in more ways than one, causing an entire
nation to dub them fabulous. They brought a hip and a hop to a game that was previously flat. Anyone
following college basketball loved or hated to love the Fab Five, evincing that either way five things
were on people s minds or television screens. Whether you were a kid begging your mom to take you
to a sporting goods store, like I was, to get those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a grin on his face and hands over knees, Juwan explains how they became five: Back then high
school basketball players weren t legitimate pro prospects so blue chip recruits would call other blue
chip recruits in order to sway their decision. The more details about his pursuit of the other four, the
more his grin grows, I knew if I could get Jalen I could get Chris since they were both from Detroit.
Ray, on the other hand, was a whole different story. Being from Texas and the son of a Preacher, Ray s
decision really wasn t his. Ray s father made it clear that school and family come before basketball.
Impersonating his father s initial response Ray can t help but get animated Michigan? Ray you ve
never seen snow! But when decision making time came Michigan s prestigious academic history, a
full scholarship, and combined with the Ray s constant badgering was the right choice according to the
Preacher. The fifth guy was Jimmy. Juwan didn t even have to call him. Before Jimmy was even off
the phone with Coach Steve Fisher he made his decision to attend Michigan. It was out of habit that
the Fib Five displayed style, when they dunked over someone they danced and talked trash to them
because that was how they were used to playing. They all grew up playing street basketball. Taunting,
trash talking, and flashiness are all characteristics of playground basketball

Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection...
Darwin collected and described thousands of animals and plants. In South America he observed the
adaptations of organisms to a variety of habitat from jungle to grassland to mountain habitats. In the
temperate regions the species resembled more closely the species of the tropical regions of South
America rather than the corresponding species of the temperate regions of Europe. For example, in the
grasslands of Argentina there are no rabbits, however, there are rodents that resemble rabbits; these
rodents are unrelated to European rabbits but are similar to other rodents in South America. Moreover,
the fossils in South America are dissimilar to European fossils but have similarities with extant (i.e.
currently living) plants and animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cuvier founded the science of paleontology and described the differences between the fossil flora and
fauna in different strata of rock: he observed that the more recent strata had fossils that more closely
resembled extant organisms. Cuvier believed that the discontinuities between fossils in different strata
were brought about by catastrophes such as floods which caused the extinction of many species living
at a particular time. This interpretation of earth s history is termed catastrophism and was also held by
many contemporary geologists. By contrast, Hutton and subsequently Lyell held that geological
processes are slow and subtle but that over prolonged periods of time (millions of years) these can
lead to major changes; implicit in this viewpoint is an age for the earth radically different from the
6,000 years of the biblical creationists.
Other key influences on Darwin were Malthus who had concluded that war and famine were
inevitable as the human population grew more rapidly than available resources, and Lamarck who had
proposed a theory of evolution based on a continuous process of gradual modification due to acquired
characteristics. Both Darwin and Wallace brought together a multitude of facts including the
geographical distribution of organisms, comparative morphology of living organisms and their fossil
precursors. They postulated that long term environmental changes including movement of land

many as fifty users have same distance from the recommender. Then we use the probability function
and set a threshold value 2 this will identify the best two users for the best solution. Again if we are in
the probability based group then calculate shortest distance among the users who have same

Diversifying Teaching Styles to Meet the Needs of All...
Diversifying Teaching Styles to Meet the Needs of All Learners When researching about education,
one often finds a great deal of literature and information about learning styles. Educators spend
countless hours studying their students in order to find out how they learn best. All students have
needs when it comes to how they learn and educators must be able to meet those needs in order to
promote successful learning in their classrooms. This (paper/article) will focus on teaching strategies
and how to vary them so that each learning style preference is addressed, therefore increasing the level
of achievement of each student and making learning a successful outcome in the classroom.
Strategies, or methods of instruction, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These suggestions will increase the amount of learning for students in your classroom. There have
been several publications written on the topic of teaching styles and sifting through all the information
can be tedious. The first, and most obvious, place to start would be to discuss a little about how
learning occurs. The brain is a complex organ that scientists are still studying. Much has been learned
about the brain, but much more needs to be researched. One thing that has been studied a great deal is
memory and how it works. All human beings use their memory to learn. Information that has been
learned was processed in the short term memory and stored in the long term memory. We retrieve the
information through recall, recognition, and encoding specificity. Recall is a simple retrieval of
information. Recognition involves a set of pre generated stimuli presented to learners for a decision or
judgment (Driscoll, 2000). For example, when one hears the words Oh say can you see... one
automatically recognizes it as the opening line to the national anthem. The encoding specificity
principle states that whatever cues are to facilitate encoding will also serve as the best retrieval cues
for remembering (Driscoll, 2000). For example, wearing the same clothes to take a test as when
studying for the test will increase the likelihood of recalling the information

Raymond Carver Research Paper
Raymond Clevie Carver was born May 25, 1938 in Clatskanie, Oregon. Carver was raised in the
Pacific Northwest by working class parents. His father, Clevie Raymond Carver, was a sawmill
worker, a fisherman, and a heavy drinker. He taught Carver to fish and hunt, and read him Zane Grey
novels. Carver s mother, Ella Beatrice, worked as a waitress and retail clerk. He had one younger
brother, James Franklin Carver. At age 19, after graduating from high school, Carver married Maryann
Burk. Maryann was pregnant with their first child, Christine La Rae. Only a year later, they had a
second child named Vance Lindsay. Carver was 20 years old, and found it hard to support his family.
His family struggled for many years, both Carver and Maryann worked odd jobs. During this time,
Carver attended college and became serious about writing. When he was still a student, he published
his first poems and short stories. He received his degree in 1963. After this, he and his family moved
to Iowa where he attended the Iowa Writers Workshop. The article Raymond Carver states, The
money ran out after a year and the Carvers returned to California, where Raymond took a job as a
hospital janitor ( Raymond Carver ). In 1967, Carver became a textbook editor. In the same year, his
short story Will You Please Be Quiet, Please? started receiving more recognition and was selected for
the anthology Best American Short Stories. However, this moment of glory was short lived. In the

Informative Essay On Veterans Day
Veterans Day is a national holiday to commemorate fallen and current men and women for serving our
country. One year after The Great War, November 11 was declared as Armistice Day by President
Wilson. It officially became a holiday on June 1, 1954. Then later the name was changed to Veterans
Day on October 8th (Office of Public Affairs). From then on it was a widely celebrated holiday.
People were let off work/ school to come together with their families to honor people who sacrifice
themselves for the freedom we take for granted everyday. For us seeing a soldier take time out of his
day to risk his/her life to save ours from a terrorist attack it may be extraordinary, but to another
serviceman it is a normal occurrence (Hensley, Robert). Therefore ... Show more content on

around 50 thousand homeless Veterans. There are also about 1.4 million who are at risk for becoming
homeless (Who are homeless Veterans). Each year there are more and more homeless Vets, and what
makes it even harder for most is the fact that they suffer from mental health problems such as PTSD
(post traumatic stress disorder) (PTSD: National Center for PTSD). This disorder is very serious and
can be extremely dangerous for not only the Vet but the civilians around them if left untreated, which
is difficult when you are not receiving support from anyone. However, there are people who are

I. Research Question or Problem
The journal article question is clearly stated. The question asks whether the behaviourist, the
psychoanalytic, the cognitive, or the neuroscientific perspective is most intellectually significant and
most prominent in psychology today (Robins, Goling, amp; Craik, 1999, p. 117).

Articles regarding the psychoanalytic and neuroscientific perspective, however, were essentially non
existent throughout the studied period. Authors provided graphs and tables in order to demonstrate
their findings over time for each index (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.121 126).
V. Discussion/Conclusions
Due to their compelling findings, the authors were able to construct several conclusions. Firstly,
psychoanalytic journals, dissertations, and flagship articles have not been in the spotlight of
mainstream psychology for the past several decades (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.123, 124).
Secondly, with the focus currently on cognitive psychology, behavioural psychology has and
continues to subside in scientific psychology (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.124). Moreover,
the authors state that one reason cognitive psychology is transcending behavioural psychology is due
to the immeasurable role of computers in modern society. For example, thanks to computers,
considerable changes have taken place in regards to scientists understanding of memory, information
processing, etc (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.124). Lastly, mainstream psychology does not
yet recognize neuropsychology; however, there is an obvious increase in popularity that is underway.
Authors recommend further research to explore the growing prominence

Creep Song Analysis
Song Contrast Essay Songs are very diverse in today s day of age. From the smooth sounds of Jazz,
energizing pop, and disruptive Rock; almost everyone can find their own taste of music. A popular
song from the 1930 s, Creep by Radiohead, recently got a cover in 2015 by a band called Scott
Bradlee s Postmodern Jukebox, which change alternative Rock song to Jazz. But through this change
of genre of the this song, how does the cogitation of the song change? Scott Bradlee s version of
Creep suggests a sad person who is explaining the things wrong with them; meanwhile the Radiohead
s version of Creep suggests a person who is frustrated at the world. This contrast can be established
through the differences in the songs vocals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The major reason why this causes a dramatic difference between the meaning of the songs is that,
again, it changes the relationship of the singer to the woman they are singing about. In this version of
Creep, this causes the listener to view the song to believe that a heterosexual male singing about his
girl of his dreams instead of the homosexual female singing about her girl of her dreams like the
Bradlee s version of Creep suggests. Another big difference between the two songs is the
instrumentals they have in them. In the Bradlee s version of Creep, the main instruments in it are a
piano, a cello, a trombone and a saxaphone. This is part of a common line up of Jazz as stated by an
article title Zydeco . It states, The most important and traditional instrument used in performing
zydeco (Jazz) is the piano accordion. Other instruments often included in a zydeco band are the guitar,
electric bass, saxophone, drums, and rubboard (washboard) (Zydeco) From knowing that this is a line
up to Jazz that we can assume that this is a traditional Jazz line for Bradlee s version of the song. With
both of them sharing the piano, saxophone, and other brass instrument, we

Cliff Curtis Argumentative Essay
My position on this issue is, what I am guessing, different from most. I acknowledge that cross
racial/ethnic representation in the past has caused social complications, especially for minorities.
Historical blackface discussed in the module 8 eText was meant to perpetuate stereotypes of African
American men as either docile, loyal slaves or violent, animalistic thugs. I do not think anybody
would find that practice in the slightest bit appropriate in today s era.
However cross racial/ethnic representation does not have to be, and most certainly can be, done in a
way that is respectful to the other race that it is depicting. Unlike historical blackface, studio makeup
techniques and the technological editing capabilities of the industry has made it increasingly difficult
to even tell in actor s race in most cases. Furthermore, restricting people to their own biological race
can be counterintuitive for minorities opportunity in Hollywood. ... Show more content on

Teenage Pregnancy Rates Among Ethnicities
Teen Pregnancy Rates Among Ethnicities

Teenage pregnancy has been viewed as an issue for many years, not only for teenage mothers but for
babies as well. Much importance has been placed on this subject for the reason that although these
rates are declining, they remain elevated. The United States represents over 600,000 American teen
pregnancies every year, making this the highest rate in the industrialized world (Steinberg, 2017).
Unfortunately, ethnic minorities in the United States have a predisposition to the many social,
educational and economic disadvantages that in fact shape adolescent sexual behavior and lead to the
decision of adolescent motherhood. This paper will illustrate teenage pregnancy rates over the last few
years, the factors that impact teen pregnancy, contraception and the likelihood of teen pregnancies
across different ethnic groups. Over the years, the rate of adolescent pregnancy in the United States
has been declining by nearly 40% since the 1990 s. (Brown, 2016) Adolescent pregnancy rates have
decreased across the nation for adolescents belonging to any racial and ethnic group. (Brown, 2016) It
seems that adolescents are making smarter decisions considering that there is 77% decline in
pregnancy risk. Adolescent pregnancy risk is positively correlated with greater use of condoms by
58% and birth control methods by 39%.

The Causes Of The Migration Series By Jacob Lawrence
The Migration series by Jacob Lawrence is a sequence of sixty paintings (with captions) portraying
the mass movement of African Americans from the rural South to cities in the North and West during
the beginning of the twentieth century. The artist was the child of African American migrants, and he
grew up during the 1930s in Harlem, where he took art classes. In planning the series, Lawrence did a
lot of library research on the history and causes of the migration. Reading the series from beginning to
end, the viewer can see that he puts the fruits of his learning into the scenes and captions. This paper
explores how the series represents the causes of the Great Migration. I argue that Lawrence shows
several economic factors, such as difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the pattern does not stay exactly this way throughout the series, the back and forth between
depictions of individuals and groups is pretty common. My point is similar to this one in a scholarly
article: The narrative . . . is not linear, but alternates between the insistent portrayal of the dominant
event in the plot the actual physical displacement of the people and paintings dealing with the main
causes of this mass migration (Tribe 405). This quotation brings us back to the issue of causes, which I
think is related to the opposition individual/society. When Lawrence depicts the causes pushing
African Americans out of the South (like lynching, child labor, injustice, and discrimination), he
usually shows us only one person or a small group, like a family. Some of the causes pulling migrants
away from the South (labor agents, letters from kin) also are shown having their effect on individuals
or small groups. But when

Witchcraft Research Paper
The history of witchcraft goes back for centuries, differentiating from culture to culture. A concrete
definition is unwritten but the main concept of witchcraft is the belief in magic and its powers. It is a
form of sorcery, the magical manipulation of supernormal forces through the casting of spells and the
conjuring or invoking of spirits, for either good or bad purposes (Guiley 378). Witchcraft is usually
associated with the devil and considered harmful. However, in the ancient world, witch doctors used
spells and chanting to cure illness or misfortune. The concept of witchcraft evolves from Assyrian,
Babylonian, Akkadian, Hebrew, Greek, and Roman ancient beliefs. They were known to be
knowledgeable in herbal medicine and potions. Contemporary Paganism, also called Neopaganism,
revitalizes pre Christian beliefs. Those who follow now paganism try to reproduce some of the sacred
ways of earlier European peoples, such as the celts in the British isles or the ancient Scandinavians
(Fisher 478).
The hunt against witches is recorded through history. They have been accused of perpetuating disease
and harming others. In itself witchcraft provides a means for navigating among the varied forces that
comprise and shape material creation (Michael 1) and for those who practice it receives means in
controlling those forces. Those who deemed it unethical or could not understand instantly shunned

thought by providing key elements. Anselm proposes that one cannot imagine a god that is greater,
and even non believers have a conception of the western god. Anselm asserts that since everyone has
an understanding of god in their mind, then god exist in reality. This paper will evaluate some of the
main key elements that Anselm uses to prove that the ontological argument is correct in Proslogion. I
contend that Anselm does not exhibit proper terminology and provides vague statements and therefore
his argument that God is which nothing greater can be thought is invalid.

Anselm argues that god is merciful and impassible at the same time. Those two definitions are the
complete opposite of each other. Merciful can mean showing compassion for a person and being
sympathetic towards a person who has done wrong. Impassible can mean incapable of feeling
sympathy for an individual who has done wrong. Anselm believes that god is both, but how is that
possible for a person to be compassionate and not compassionate. This statement is contradictory and
does not make logical sense because a person cannot be compassionate and not compassionate. If god
is both compassionate and non compassionate then he is indecisive because he cannot decide whether
he actually wants to punish an individual. When Anselm stated that god was both compassionate and
not compassionate he realized that it did not make sense because he even questions god. Anselm
combines words that are contradictory to each other and creates a confusing statement. This statement
is difficult to understand and creates a flaw in his ontological

Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is an emerging computing technology that uses the internet and central remote
servers to maintain data and applications. Cloud computing allows consumers and businesses to use
applications without installation and access their personal files at any computer with internet access.
This technology allows for much more efficient computing by centralizing storage, memory,
processing and bandwidth. Cloud computing is broken down into three segments: applications,
platforms, and infrastructure. Each segment serves a different purpose and offers different products for
businesses and individuals around the world. In June 2009, a study conducted by VersionOne found

IBM Case Analysis
What happened to IBM, the symbol of American supremacy? Challenge to America video, 1993
Problem Statement
IBM needs to grow revenue and stay competitive in the dynamically changing computer marketplace
of the 1990 s by maintaining technological leadership and accepting the organizational transformation
which needs to be undertaken for them to excel. IBM needs to recapture their previously held
powerful position in the personal computer and microprocessor markets and regain value in the
company which will increase its stock value and competitive advantage in the marketplace.

The first alternative addresses the organizational structure which best responds to the challenges faced
while the second alternative attempts to garner IBM s internal resources and external market
connections to better address the complexity of the personal computer environment and thus return
IBM to its prior strength.
Alternative A: Organic Structure (internal focus on environmental considerations)
To answer the many external environmental factors affecting IBM s personal computer business they
must raise structural complexity and decentralize decision making through increasing the number of
departments and personnel which individually address such boundary spanning environmental points
as pricing, customer representation, and new technologies. Human resources must be effectively
utilized as key personnel must be recruited both quickly in the transformation and in the future.
A less hierarchical organizational approach will allow for relevant information flow between
departments through the use of design tools such as taskforces and committees which can provide vital
information to decision makers who can quickly react to the changing environmental demands. The
enhancement of useful environmental information will aid in more accurate planning and market
forecasting which can strengthen IBM s

Modernism Essay examples
Modernism
Modernism is defined in Merriam Webster s Dictionary as a self conscious break with the past and a
search for new forms of expression. While this explanation does relate what modernism means, the
intricacies of the term go much deeper. Modernism began around 1890 and waned around 1922.
Virginia Wolf once wrote, In or about December, 1910, human character changed. (Hurt and Wilkie
1443). D.H. Lawrence wrote a similar statement about 1915: It was 1915 the old world ended. (Hurt
and Wilkie 1444). The importance of the exact dates of the Modernist period are not so relevant as the
fact that new ideas were implemented in the era. Ideas that had never before been approached in the
world of literature suddenly began emerging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stepping outside of the box, they wrote what they perceived in their own minds to be reality. The
readers in turn were given a new form of literature that was not written on the basis of beliefs that
earlier had seemed indisputable. Not only were old belief systems disregarded, they were openly
opposed. Even more surprising, the new thoughts were acceptable, and in turn provided an alternative
route for thinking that had not formerly been considered.
Anti Realism is another feature of Modernism. This element included the use of myth and allusion in
writing. Description was a prominent feature in literature before the Modernist period; writers had set
the scene using an exactness that left little room for a reader s imagination. With Modernism emerged
the allusion, which meant that only certain aspects of the setting or scene were revealed. This provided
freedom for the reader to think about what the author was presenting through the text. The work was
created through the inner feelings and workings of the characters and the symbols hidden in the plot
and setting. The way themes and points of view were selected went against the earlier convention also.
Sigmund Freud s Interpretation of Dreams in 1899 opened the door to previously undiscovered value
in the human unconscious. This led to a whole new emphasis of individualism in both the writer and
the reader, who were given free reign to explore not only who a character was

How Has Chivalry Changed In The Middle Ages
The act of chivalry has changed dramatically since the middle ages and since The Canterbury Tales
was written. In The Knight s Tale , Chaucer writes about the quest for love between two men who are
in love with the same woman. This quest ends in death for one man and love for the other man.
Chivalry in the middle ages included Knights that were expected to be warriors and attendants to the
King. Knights were expected to fight to the death for love and then represent the kingdom because of
their good deeds. Modern chivalry has changed radically from knightly tasks to gentlemanly acts
towards women. Today men are expected to be polite and respectful towards not only women they are
interested in but to everyone they encounter. Chivalry has become less extreme and therefore less
prevalent in today s society but it is still present in some cases. ... Show more content on

Barriers Of Communication In Communication
A business setting requires that the people concerned communicate effectively with each other in order
to reduce negative consequences that would be as a result of misunderstanding or damaged
relationship. There are many barriers that would hinder any business communication process. These
includes cliché, jargon, slang, sexist and racist language, euphemism, double speak. This essay briefly
described these barriers to communication in a business setting.
Cliché is a barrier of communication because it entails the use of once clever word or phrase that has
lost its impact through overuse (McLean, 2010, p.58). An example of a cliché would be this is just but
the wars of cats and dogs . In a business setting, the use of a cliché would undermined the seriousness
with which the meeting at hand is handled. When it is used carelessly, the quorum may find it silly or
boring and that may cause the listeners to ignore the message they are intended to pass. When this
happens, then a cliché becomes an obstacle to the effectiveness of communication.
Jargon on the other hand is the use of words which may not be familiar to everyone but to only those
who frequently use it for instance the people in the same profession. An example of this would be
Ceasar Pass to mean a kind of pass in soccer. Assuming that jargons are used in a business setting to
audience who do not understand their specific meanings, do you think the message will be passed
effectively? It may be irritating when someone

The Effect Of Stretching On Muscle Strength And Performance
Increased muscle strength and performance is sought after by athletes of almost every discipline, as
well as others simply looking to increases their health and fitness. Stretch and flexibility is another
area of fitness, one that is often neglected by most people. However, the effect of stretching on both
muscle strength and performance is disputed by the relatively few studies that have actually been done
on the topic. The results of the studies have ranged from concluding that stretching has a negative
effect on strength on performance to concluding that it has no effect to even concluding that it can
have a positive effect. Many factors play a role in muscle strength and performance so it is difficult to
conclusively determine what is due to stretching and what is due to one of the other variable that come
into play when exercising and training. Knowing the effect of stretching on muscle strength and
performance would allow athletes and their trainers to develop more efficient and productive training
plans to help the athletes achieve a higher level of performance.
Most people are under the impression that stretching lengthens muscles and that an increase in
flexibility is due to an increase in the length of the muscle itself. This is not accurate. Flexibility is not
achieved by having long muscles, but rather having to do with the length tension relationship of the
muscle (Magnusson 1998). There are several different theories for how stretching increases flexibility

Canada, which is the headquarters of Barrick Gold Corporation, runs 60 percent of the world s mining

Subsequently, the Compliance Advisor/Ombudsman of the World Bank issued a report refuting LEAT

Tanzanian government and Barrick Gold challenged this evidence. Similarly, Barrick s North Mara

Most of the conflict arises over whether the local tradition of alluvial mining became illegal under

Death Is Not Master By Thomas Miller
Let them die They want eternity In May Miller s Poem Death is not Master the persona explains that
death is not the master that will increase the desperation but it is a way to become eternally calm.
Many poems on the topic of death explain how it is as powerful of a thing that fears the existence of
human beings, but Miller s persona death is a way to achieve eternal serenity. She explains death as
something that can end all the worldly tears, desires and tension and transform the human memory
into a sculpture which is unaware of tensions. Miller s persona believes that blocking death will be
unfair as it will be a barrier to the everlasting happiness and calmness that lies inside the grave. Miller
s persona is an elaboration of Christian beliefs that death ends all worldly problems as an eternal life
starts after the death. The eternal life of a human or corpse after death is same as that of sculpture
which shines at night and remain in one place free of all tensions and problems. As the life after death
is full of calmness and happiness, so it must not be blocked and everyone must welcome it to gain the
everlasting lasting life. Thus, in Miller s perspective death is not the master; instead, it is the slave of
eternal life of serenity and calmness that lies ahead. So, no one should try to become a barrier by
blocking the death. Repetition of you six times and I three times creates the relationship between I and

Football Dangers In Football
How dangerous is football in high school? The issue focused on how often the football players get
injured and if high school athletes got injured more than college athletes. Football is a tough sport, but
the results of getting injured, sometimes in that sport are so severe, improvements can be made to try
and make it a safer sport for all the players high school or college. Multiple athletes give it their all out
on the field, but some end up with severe injuries that can affect them for the rest of their lives. The
article focuses on some of the ways and precautions that athletes and coaches can do or take to prevent
athletes from receiving concussions or worse injuries. This essay discusses, high school football
players are very likely to get injured towards ending season more than football college players for
various reasons. A research associate said, there are ways to reduce the number and severity of
football injuries through targeted intervention. (resource 1) There were high levels of knee and ankle
injuries, due to ligament sprains. A way that can help to improve on those types of injuries would be
stretching exercises. The positions that run a higher risk of being injured would be the running backs
and linebackers. Football is the number one leading cause of sports related injuries. (resource 1) The
key aspect discussed, in this sport, there is a difference in high school athletes and college athletes for
the simple fact that athletes that are still in high school have brain tissue that has not been fully
developed to its full capacity, whereas football players in college are already adults with their brain
tissue developed completely. Studies show, concussions are more dangerous for teenagers because
their brain tissue is less developed than adults. (resource 2) The gear that football players use should
be safer in terms of being in suitable conditions, multiple young players use unsuitable gear that has
been passed down long past their prime. (resource 2) If their gear was in suitable conditions, there
would be less head injuries occurring to the players specially the high school players because like
anything else those helmets are going to become unsafe and less sturdy. The game could

The Qantas dispute involved varying parties. These parties included Qantas employees and their

Representing unions attempted to ensure job security and secure bettered working conditions. The
bargaining process was criticised for taking too long, as AIPA and ALAE negotiations began in August

As a result of no progress in the negotiations, applications to FWA were made to commence protected
industrial action. Subsequently various forms of action was undertaken by the three employee groups.
The unions engaged in overtime bans and ongoing brief work stoppages, which disrupted Qantas
flights regularly and impacted reportedly on the airline commercially (workplace xpress 2011e) (Todd,
2012).
Industrial action conducted by the Engineers included short stoppages, weekend overtime bans, full
shift stoppages and a stop work meeting. The protected action was intermittent, and on some
occasions was not undertaken when scheduled, also, stoppages were managed in order for Qantas to
continue business. (Sangkuhl, 2011)
Conciliation with FWA had also commenced but no advancements had been made (Brigden, 2012).
TWU also conducted short stoppages, and a stop work meeting, and although it would appear that
these were conducted to minimise disruptions this was inevitable as some stoppages were cancelled,

Individual s refuses to open his or her experiences to the world around them they will not grow or gain
knowledge of the world around them. Pleasantville never changed, it was perfect all the time; it never
rained, the team never lost a ball game; everyday consisted of the same experiences; nothing new or
fresh.

East of Eden vs the Kite Runner
The desire for love and the need for acceptance can create more than a feeling of rejection. In East of
Eden and The Kite Runner, many characters find the task of love daunting and insufficient to their
expectations. Love presents itself in every aspect of both novels and therefore is a major theme.
Whether it was love from family or lovers, both novels explore the idea of unrequited love and its
consequences on the characters lifelong journeys. The theme of love is a major underlying cause of
many problems within East of Eden for it creates a feeling of rejection by family and lovers. The idea
that love is blind becomes the center of revolution for the feelings between Adam Trask and his wife,
Cathy. Steinbeck explores the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amir s shame brought on by his marriage to honest Soraya was his poor treatment of his closest
childhood friend, and later understood half brother, Hassan. Amir questions what would have
happened had he not as a child lied monstrously about Hassan which resulted in Hassan and Ali
leaving the service of Baba (Graves 1). These feelings of inadequacy arose when Amir overheard his
father say I d never believe he s my son (Hosseini 23). Amir and Caleb both indirectly caused the
death of their brothers because of their jealousy. Both believed the other sibling was loved more, when
all actuality the only reason it seemed this way is because there was more in common between Adam
and Aron and Baba and Hassan which led to a stronger bond but not greater love. Finally, Steinbeck
and Hosseini both include the trials and tribulations of childhood and its affects on the boys later lives.
In East of Eden, the difference between Aron and Caleb was the same as the opposites of good and
evil, strength and weakness, love and hate, beauty and ugliness (Aubrey 1). Aron was all that
symbolized angelic whereas Caleb was everything you would find evil. Caleb would tease and
purposefully hurt Aron out of pure joy in his actions, nothing could hurt him, and nothing could stop
him (Steinbeck 335). In the end, Caleb tries to compare himself to the

Medical Studies Of Diabetes
Diabetes Due to the need for close monitoring of blood glucose and insulin level in the body, there
have been various studies done regarding the various insulin regimens that are available today. Before
we get into the details of the studies conducted, it is only relevant to give an overview of the problem
at hand. Type I Diabetes or as it also known juvenile onset diabetes is a disorder that is normally
diagnosed in young adults or children. This form of diabetes results from the destruction of the insulin
producing beta cells in the pancreas. With auto immune destruction being the most common cause,
type I diabetes is a lifelong disease. Insulin is the basic treatment for Diabetes in about 30% of the
diabetic patients in the United States. (Centers for Disease control, 2008)It should be noted that insulin
is present in three different forms and a person needs to take the regimen that is most suitable for
them. As mentioned earlier, too much insulin given at a time can cause a person to go in
hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is way more fatal than increased glucose levels. The 30 year old female
in our case was taking the Insulin Basal bolus that consisted of novo rapid and glargine. There has
been much concern over the efficacy of a basal regimen to a pre mixed insulin form. A study
conducted by Mathieu et. al (2013) was done to see how the change in regimen switch is tolerated.
This change is the opposite of what we are proposing for the 30 year old female. In the Atlantic

Rockabilly Music In The 1950 s
Rockabilly music became popular in the mid fifties due largely in part to the
introduction of Elvis Presley. In 1954 this 19 year old Mississippi native took the radio
waves by storm with songs that were unlike anything the American public had heard
before. This new sound was an amalgamation of genres, pulling elements from what was
considered hillbilly music (country and western, folk, bluegrass) and colored music
(rhythm and blues, jazz, gospel.) While the roots of rockabilly are much indebted to
country music, they are quite different genres.
Different styles of country and western music had been popular since the Great
Depression era. By the early 1940s the Billboard charts began listing the top country
songs for the week, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The style of country that these artists performed is
commonly termed honkytonk, which refers to the bars where this style was performed.
Honkytonk can be characterized by its upbeat rhythm with a midtempo, purposeful,
gently swinging shuffle and slower ballads, and by the sounds of the steel guitar and

fiddle (Fontenot). Songs generally dealt with issues of alcoholism and unfaithfulness,
undoubtedly connected to the bars of the genre s origin.
While country music was popular across the country it was in the South were this
genre would blend with colored music. Although the desegregation of black and white
cultures was fought harder in the South the rich history of Southern race music found its
way to the ears of white teenagers below the Mason Dixon line. The white teens from
poorer backgrounds growing up in border states concocted the pulsating mixture of
African America inspired rhythm and blues and country and western that would mold
into rockabilly (Szatmary, 30). Country and western was not eliciting much controversy
but the introduction of Elvis would stir the

The Use Of Drugs
Drug shipment spillover across the U.S. Mexico border results in increased drug availability in border
cities (Wagner et al.,2011). Northern Mexico is experiencing a budding human immunodeficiency
virus (HIV) epidemic, particularly among injection drug users (IDUs); who are at an increased risk of
blood borne infections, hepatitis C virus (HCV), HIV, and Syphilis due to availability of drugs,
increased rates of unprotected sex, and needle sharing (Frost et al., 2006). Patterson reported 75% of
female sex workers (FSWs) in Ciudad (Cd.) Juárez, Mexico were injection drug users (IDUs) (2006).
FSWs in these border cities who had recently injected drugs presented a significantly higher risk for
sexual risk behaviors compared to other FSWs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then blood was drawn to test for viruses. All participants were provided counseling before and after
their interviews and treatment referrals. Log linear models were used to investigate the association
between the status of the recruiter and those they referred. Syphilis population estimates were obtained
using RDS based estimators of personal network size to correct biased sampling (Frost et al., 2006).
The prevalence of HCV was 96.6% and 95.3% in Tijuana and Cd. Juárez respectively; HIV prevalence
was 1.9% and 4.1% in Tijuana and Cd. Juárez respectively, and in Cd. Juárez HBV prevalence was
84.7%. The estimated syphilis prevalence ranged from 12.4 26.8% in Tijuana and 2.9 15.6% in Cd.
Juárez. The variance in syphilis prevalence was due the dependency on the pattern of recruitment and
how much network size was assumed to affect sample probability. Results showed syphilis prevalence
increased in women and Tijuana in comparison to men and Cd. Juárez. The results show that network
size and gender are both potential confounders. The qualifiers for network size are subjective thus
relate to the recruitee and syphilis level. Because female prostitutes are more likely to be IUD users,
gender also relates to IDU and syphilis level. In conclusion, there was a low HIV prevalence, high
syphilis prevalence, and

My Book Hunting Experience On The Internet
In the second decade of the 21st century, cultural diversity has become an incredibly popular idea. The
awareness of cultural diversity has integrated its way into all aspects of American society. America is
one of the most culturally diverse societies in the world, containing a multitude of different ethnic and
cultural groups. Though, success looks different to us all, some studies suggest that literacy skills are
vital for cultivating a fruitful society. Children learn best when they can identify with the literature
they are reading. The relevancy of the character s, plot, and setting are especially important to early
learners, thru literature they begin to absorb the world around them. That is why we must expose early
learners to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wanted a book that did not feature just one specific group of people so, I decided to return to the web
and narrow my search. I came across a book written by Mary Hoffman and Ros Asquith titled, The
Great Big Book of Families, it was published in the UK in 2010. Next, I previewed the book online to
determine if it was a quality text. Then, I researched where I could find a hard copy of the book. I
located a copy of the book at Barnes and Nobel. After viewing the book in person, I decided to buy it
for my own children s book collection. The book is about how different families live, and features
vivid illustrations to accompany the text. The book begins with Once upon a time most families in
books looked like this But in real life, families come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. (p. 6). The
illustration depicted your typical heteronormative, Caucasian nucleus, containing a dad, mom, brother,
sister, dog and cat. They live in a cottage style home with a white picket fence. The text at the bottom
of the illustration read, In this book are a lot of families living in different ways. Perhaps there s one
that looks like yours (p.7). This hooked me, I wanted to turn the page. The book featured several types
of families including, single parent families, adoption, and same sex parents, to name a few. It also
introduced different ways families live, work, go to school, and celebrate special occasions. I was
surprised to

Apocalypse Now Vietnam War
Apocalypse Now took place during the Vietnam War and is directed by Frances Ford Coppola. In this
film he went above and beyond to show the mental impact war has on it s military. The US militaries
involvement in the film shows very intense situations. The US has no mercy. They were in Vietnam
working on taking total and complete control. Sadly, they didn t really know what they were doing or
who was in command. For example Captain Benjamin L. Willard, often found himself searching for
answers but everything is a mess. Soldiers were randomly shooting at unknown things. The US
military is confused but still followed their orders. The effects of war on military soldiers, post
traumatic stress disorder cause the soldiers to have mental breakdowns ... Show more content on

When surrounded by it, the mental drama is very extreme and hard to recover from it. It eventually
takes over Willard. For example, they would paint their faces with mud which to me it symbolizes no
fear. Captain Willard was able to take over the situation and execute Colonel Walter E. Kurtz.
Charging a man with murder in this place was like handing out speeding tickets in the Indy 500 what I
like most about this quote is that its real. Obviously drivers in the Indy 500 are expected to speed. This
cruel war expects men to commit murder on a daily basis. This quote sums up how nasty the Vietnam
War was. This led to one of the highest causalities from any war in history. Some of the lessons we ve
learned are almost identical from our past wars to our present. Almost all wars are unpopular with the
homeland but a need for our country to remain safe and free. Both Vietnam and our involvement in
Iraq and Afghanistan caused many young Americans to die fighting for their country. Anytime we
have people in harms way it makes for many people questioning why we went to war. This was
demonstrated throughout many scenes in the movie. Whether you are for or against the war the
outcome in all confrontation has resulted in America being a safer place and our freedom has never

New York Times Argument
1. After reading the New York Times editorial and the National Review article, is one argument
stronger than the other? In my opinion, the New York Times argument is stronger than the National
Review s. In the situation there is a leader which is the commander, and subordinates which are the
platoons. To hold a higher position comes with great responsibility among the minority. That is why
they are minority , for they rely on the decision coming from the officials. Thus, they bear lesser
liability of the aftermath that the officials have directed them to carry out. 2. Who was to blame:
Calley, the two platoons, the commanding officers, or the American people? Technically, whoever pull

Flash Of Genius Relates To Intellectual Property
The movie Flash of Genius relates to Intellectual Property in that the intermittent windshield wipers
were Robert Kearns own intellectual property. The movie has strong ties to patent laws of the United
States as well as the 1941 Supreme Court case of Cuno Engineering v. Automatic Devices Corp which
requires that a new device must reveal the flash of creative genius, not merely the skill of the calling
(JUSTIA).The movie relates to this because Ford infringed on Kearns patent (that was still under
protection) and Kearns claimed to have had a flash of creative genius (why can t a windshield wiper
blink like a human eye?). Because of this flash of genius, he came up with the idea for the intermittent
wiper and it was not merely created as

Great Depression And The Great Recession
The Great Depression and the Great Recession are two of the darkest times in American history. There
is much debate about the cause of the Great Depression and how it differed from the cause of the
Great Recession. Many people believe that the stock market crash of 1929 played a major role the
Great Depression. On the other hand, the stock market crash of 2008 drove America into the Great
Recession. The causes of stock market crashes are often unforeseen, but many have detectable
indicators. There are many differences between the 1929 stock market crash and the 2008 stock
market crash, but we can learn more from the similarities between the two. The credit boom of the
1920 s is one of the things that contributed most to the stock market crash on 1929 and then the
eventual cause of the Great Depression. We find that the credit boom view provides a useful
perspective on both the boom of the 1920s and the subsequent slump. In particular, it directs attention
to the role played by the structure of the financial sector and the interaction of finance and innovation.
(Eichengreen) As many people know today, having a credit card and going shopping without realizing
exactly how a credit card works can put the user in a tough situation. After a person puts something on
credit they must pay it back at a later date. In the 1920 s the credit boom was where people had started
to use credit more frequently and were getting carried away with the idea of credit. People putting

  • 2. The Shankaracharya Sanctuary The Shankaracharya Sanctuary otherwise called the Jyesteshwara sanctuary or Pas Pahar by Buddhists, is arranged in the Zabarwan Mountain in Srinagar, Kashmir. It is committed to Master Shiva. The sanctuary is on the summit of the same name at a stature of 1,000 feet (300 m) over the plain and sits above the city of Srinagar. History and advancement The sanctuary goes once again to 200 BC, despite the fact that the present structure likely goes over to the ninth century Advertisement. It was gone to by Adi Shankara and has after been connected with him; this is the means by which the hill/temple got the name Shankaracharya. It is additionally viewed as holy by Buddhists. The Shiv ling was put inside by Adi Shankaracharya on his visit to Kashmir; it turned into a Hindu sanctuary. As stated by Pandit Anand Koul (1924) the sanctuary was initially assembled by Sandiman who, as stated by Koul, ruled in Kashmir from 2629 to 2564 BC. It was repaired by Lord Gopaditya (426 365 BC) and by Ruler Lalitaditya (697 734).2 Its top was additionally repaired by Zain ul Abidin after a seismic tremor; later, its arch was repaired by Sheik Ghulam Mohiuddin, a Sikh senator (1841 1846). The most punctual chronicled reference to the mound originates from Kalhana. He called the mountain Gopadri. • 3. Psychological Theories Of Behavioral Finance Behavioural Finance Introduction Behavioural finance is a relatively new area of evolving research in finance. Behavioural finance seek to combine behavioural and cognitive psychological theory with conventional economics and finance to get a better understanding for why individual investors make irrational financial decisions. According to Sewell (2007), Behavioural finance is the study of the influence of psychology on the behaviour of financial practitioners and the subsequent effect on markets. The science focuses on the effects of individual investors making decisions based on hunches or emotions. Ritter (2003, p.429), describes behavioural finance is based on psychology which suggests that human decision processes are subject to several cognitive illusions. These illusions are divided into two groups as illusions caused by heuristic decision process and illusions rooted from the adoption of mental frames grouped in the prospect theory (Waweru et al., 2008, p.27) People may make predictable, non optimal choices when faced with difficult and uncertain decisions because of heuristic simplification. Behavioral biases, abstractly, are defined in the same way as systematic errors are, in judgment (Chen et al, 2007). Behavioral finance theories, which are based on the psychology, attempt to understand how the psychological variables (heuristics, prospect, and herding) and perceived risk behaviour (Risk Perception, Risk attitude and Risk Propensity) influence individual ... • 4. The University of Michigan Fab Five Essay There seems to be a fine line, a three point line, between pushing the envelope and pushing a revolution. In 1991, five freshmen from the University of Michigan brashly stepped over that line redefining the world of college basketball as we knew it and in the process, revolutionized the relationship between style and sport. These men were fresh in more ways than one, causing an entire nation to dub them fabulous. They brought a hip and a hop to a game that was previously flat. Anyone following college basketball loved or hated to love the Fab Five, evincing that either way five things were on people s minds or television screens. The more details about his pursuit of the other four, the more his grin grows, I knew if I could get Jalen I could get Chris since they were both from Detroit. Ray, on the other hand, was a whole different story. Being from Texas and the son of a Preacher, Ray s decision really wasn t his. Ray s father made it clear that school and family come before basketball. Impersonating his father s initial response Ray can t help but get animated Michigan? Ray you ve never seen snow! But when decision making time came Michigan s prestigious academic history, a full scholarship, and combined with the Ray s constant badgering was the right choice according to the Preacher. The fifth guy was Jimmy. Juwan didn t even have to call him. Before Jimmy was even off the phone with Coach Steve Fisher he made his decision to attend Michigan. It was out of habit that the Fib Five displayed style, when they dunked over someone they danced and talked trash to them because that was how they were used to playing. • 5. Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection... Darwin collected and described thousands of animals and plants. In South America he observed the adaptations of organisms to a variety of habitat from jungle to grassland to mountain habitats. In the temperate regions the species resembled more closely the species of the tropical regions of South America rather than the corresponding species of the temperate regions of Europe. For example, in the grasslands of Argentina there are no rabbits, however, there are rodents that resemble rabbits; these rodents are unrelated to European rabbits but are similar to other rodents in South America. Moreover, the fossils in South America are dissimilar to European fossils but have similarities with extant (i.e. currently living) plants and animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cuvier founded the science of paleontology and described the differences between the fossil flora and fauna in different strata of rock: he observed that the more recent strata had fossils that more closely resembled extant organisms. Cuvier believed that the discontinuities between fossils in different strata were brought about by catastrophes such as floods which caused the extinction of many species living at a particular time. This interpretation of earth s history is termed catastrophism and was also held by many contemporary geologists. By contrast, Hutton and subsequently Lyell held that geological processes are slow and subtle but that over prolonged periods of time (millions of years) these can lead to major changes; implicit in this viewpoint is an age for the earth radically different from the 6,000 years of the biblical creationists. Other key influences on Darwin were Malthus who had concluded that war and famine were inevitable as the human population grew more rapidly than available resources, and Lamarck who had proposed a theory of evolution based on a continuous process of gradual modification due to acquired characteristics. Both Darwin and Wallace brought together a multitude of facts including the geographical distribution of organisms, comparative morphology of living organisms and their fossil precursors. They postulated that long term environmental changes including movement of land ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There have been several publications written on the topic of teaching styles and sifting through all the information can be tedious. The first, and most obvious, place to start would be to discuss a little about how learning occurs. The brain is a complex organ that scientists are still studying. Much has been learned about the brain, but much more needs to be researched. One thing that has been studied a great deal is memory and how it works. All human beings use their memory to learn. Information that has been learned was processed in the short term memory and stored in the long term memory. We retrieve the information through recall, recognition, and encoding specificity. Recall is a simple retrieval of information. Recognition involves a set of pre generated stimuli presented to learners for a decision or judgment (Driscoll, 2000). For example, when one hears the words Oh say can you see... one automatically recognizes it as the opening line to the national anthem. The encoding specificity principle states that whatever cues are to facilitate encoding will also serve as the best retrieval cues for remembering (Driscoll, 2000). For example, wearing the same clothes to take a test as when studying for the test will increase the likelihood of recalling the information ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One year after The Great War, November 11 was declared as Armistice Day by President Wilson. It officially became a holiday on June 1, 1954. Then later the name was changed to Veterans Day on October 8th (Office of Public Affairs). From then on it was a widely celebrated holiday. People were let off work/ school to come together with their families to honor people who sacrifice themselves for the freedom we take for granted everyday. Research Question or Problem The journal article question is clearly stated. The question asks whether the behaviourist, the psychoanalytic, the cognitive, or the neuroscientific perspective is most intellectually significant and most prominent in psychology today (Robins, Goling, amp; Craik, 1999, p. 117). Authors provided graphs and tables in order to demonstrate their findings over time for each index (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.121 126). V. Discussion/Conclusions Due to their compelling findings, the authors were able to construct several conclusions. Firstly, psychoanalytic journals, dissertations, and flagship articles have not been in the spotlight of mainstream psychology for the past several decades (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.123, 124). Secondly, with the focus currently on cognitive psychology, behavioural psychology has and continues to subside in scientific psychology (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.124). Moreover, the authors state that one reason cognitive psychology is transcending behavioural psychology is due to the immeasurable role of computers in modern society. For example, thanks to computers, considerable changes have taken place in regards to scientists understanding of memory, information processing, etc (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.124). Lastly, mainstream psychology does not yet recognize neuropsychology; however, there is an obvious increase in popularity that is underway. From the smooth sounds of Jazz, energizing pop, and disruptive Rock; almost everyone can find their own taste of music. A popular song from the 1930 s, Creep by Radiohead, recently got a cover in 2015 by a band called Scott Bradlee s Postmodern Jukebox, which change alternative Rock song to Jazz. But through this change of genre of the this song, how does the cogitation of the song change? The major reason why this causes a dramatic difference between the meaning of the songs is that, again, it changes the relationship of the singer to the woman they are singing about. In this version of Creep, this causes the listener to view the song to believe that a heterosexual male singing about his girl of his dreams instead of the homosexual female singing about her girl of her dreams like the Bradlee s version of Creep suggests. Another big difference between the two songs is the instrumentals they have in them. In the Bradlee s version of Creep, the main instruments in it are a piano, a cello, a trombone and a saxaphone. This is part of a common line up of Jazz as stated by an article title Zydeco . It states, The most important and traditional instrument used in performing zydeco (Jazz) is the piano accordion. Other instruments often included in a zydeco band are the guitar, electric bass, saxophone, drums, and rubboard (washboard) (Zydeco) From knowing that this is a line up to Jazz that we can assume that this is a traditional Jazz line for Bradlee s version of the song. I acknowledge that cross racial/ethnic representation in the past has caused social complications, especially for minorities. Historical blackface discussed in the module 8 eText was meant to perpetuate stereotypes of African American men as either docile, loyal slaves or violent, animalistic thugs. I do not think anybody would find that practice in the slightest bit appropriate in today s era. However cross racial/ethnic representation does not have to be, and most certainly can be, done in a way that is respectful to the other race that it is depicting. Unlike historical blackface, studio makeup techniques and the technological editing capabilities of the industry has made it increasingly difficult to even tell in actor s race in most cases. Much importance has been placed on this subject for the reason that although these rates are declining, they remain elevated. The United States represents over 600,000 American teen pregnancies every year, making this the highest rate in the industrialized world (Steinberg, 2017). Unfortunately, ethnic minorities in the United States have a predisposition to the many social, educational and economic disadvantages that in fact shape adolescent sexual behavior and lead to the decision of adolescent motherhood. This paper will illustrate teenage pregnancy rates over the last few years, the factors that impact teen pregnancy, contraception and the likelihood of teen pregnancies across different ethnic groups. Over the years, the rate of adolescent pregnancy in the United States has been declining by nearly 40% since the 1990 s. (Brown, 2016) Adolescent pregnancy rates have decreased across the nation for adolescents belonging to any racial and ethnic group. (Brown, 2016) It seems that adolescents are making smarter decisions considering that there is 77% decline in pregnancy risk. Adolescent pregnancy risk is positively correlated with greater use of condoms by 58% and birth control methods by 39%. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Causes Of The Migration Series By Jacob Lawrence The Migration series by Jacob Lawrence is a sequence of sixty paintings (with captions) portraying the mass movement of African Americans from the rural South to cities in the North and West during the beginning of the twentieth century. The artist was the child of African American migrants, and he grew up during the 1930s in Harlem, where he took art classes. In planning the series, Lawrence did a lot of library research on the history and causes of the migration. Reading the series from beginning to end, the viewer can see that he puts the fruits of his learning into the scenes and captions. This paper explores how the series represents the causes of the Great Migration. I argue that Lawrence shows several economic factors, such as difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the pattern does not stay exactly this way throughout the series, the back and forth between depictions of individuals and groups is pretty common. My point is similar to this one in a scholarly article: The narrative . . . is not linear, but alternates between the insistent portrayal of the dominant event in the plot the actual physical displacement of the people and paintings dealing with the main causes of this mass migration (Tribe 405). This quotation brings us back to the issue of causes, which I think is related to the opposition individual/society. When Lawrence depicts the causes pushing African Americans out of the South (like lynching, child labor, injustice, and discrimination), he usually shows us only one person or a small group, like a family. Some of the causes pulling migrants away from the South (labor agents, letters from kin) also are shown having their effect on individuals or small groups. But when ... • 20. Witchcraft Research Paper The history of witchcraft goes back for centuries, differentiating from culture to culture. A concrete definition is unwritten but the main concept of witchcraft is the belief in magic and its powers. It is a form of sorcery, the magical manipulation of supernormal forces through the casting of spells and the conjuring or invoking of spirits, for either good or bad purposes (Guiley 378). Witchcraft is usually associated with the devil and considered harmful. However, in the ancient world, witch doctors used spells and chanting to cure illness or misfortune. The concept of witchcraft evolves from Assyrian, Babylonian, Akkadian, Hebrew, Greek, and Roman ancient beliefs. They were known to be knowledgeable in herbal medicine and potions. Contemporary Paganism, also called Neopaganism, revitalizes pre Christian beliefs. Those who follow now paganism try to reproduce some of the sacred ways of earlier European peoples, such as the celts in the British isles or the ancient Scandinavians (Fisher 478). The hunt against witches is recorded through history. They have been accused of perpetuating disease and harming others. Anselm proposes that one cannot imagine a god that is greater, and even non believers have a conception of the western god. Anselm asserts that since everyone has an understanding of god in their mind, then god exist in reality. This paper will evaluate some of the main key elements that Anselm uses to prove that the ontological argument is correct in Proslogion. Those two definitions are the complete opposite of each other. Merciful can mean showing compassion for a person and being sympathetic towards a person who has done wrong. Impassible can mean incapable of feeling sympathy for an individual who has done wrong. Anselm believes that god is both, but how is that possible for a person to be compassionate and not compassionate. This statement is contradictory and does not make logical sense because a person cannot be compassionate and not compassionate. If god is both compassionate and non compassionate then he is indecisive because he cannot decide whether he actually wants to punish an individual. When Anselm stated that god was both compassionate and not compassionate he realized that it did not make sense because he even questions god. Anselm combines words that are contradictory to each other and creates a confusing statement. This statement is difficult to understand and creates a flaw in his ontological ... • 24. Modernism Essay examples Modernism Modernism is defined in Merriam Webster s Dictionary as a self conscious break with the past and a search for new forms of expression. While this explanation does relate what modernism means, the intricacies of the term go much deeper. Modernism began around 1890 and waned around 1922. Virginia Wolf once wrote, In or about December, 1910, human character changed. (Hurt and Wilkie 1443). D.H. Lawrence wrote a similar statement about 1915: It was 1915 the old world ended. (Hurt and Wilkie 1444). The importance of the exact dates of the Modernist period are not so relevant as the fact that new ideas were implemented in the era. Stepping outside of the box, they wrote what they perceived in their own minds to be reality. The readers in turn were given a new form of literature that was not written on the basis of beliefs that earlier had seemed indisputable. Not only were old belief systems disregarded, they were openly opposed. Even more surprising, the new thoughts were acceptable, and in turn provided an alternative route for thinking that had not formerly been considered. Anti Realism is another feature of Modernism. This element included the use of myth and allusion in writing. Description was a prominent feature in literature before the Modernist period; writers had set the scene using an exactness that left little room for a reader s imagination. With Modernism emerged the allusion, which meant that only certain aspects of the setting or scene were revealed. This provided freedom for the reader to think about what the author was presenting through the text. The work was created through the inner feelings and workings of the characters and the symbols hidden in the plot and setting. The way themes and points of view were selected went against the earlier convention also. Sigmund Freud s Interpretation of Dreams in 1899 opened the door to previously undiscovered value in the human unconscious. This led to a whole new emphasis of individualism in both the writer and the reader, who were given free reign to explore not only who a character was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chivalry in the middle ages included Knights that were expected to be warriors and attendants to the King. Modern chivalry has changed radically from knightly tasks to gentlemanly acts towards women. • 29. Barriers Of Communication In Communication A business setting requires that the people concerned communicate effectively with each other in order to reduce negative consequences that would be as a result of misunderstanding or damaged relationship. There are many barriers that would hinder any business communication process. These includes cliché, jargon, slang, sexist and racist language, euphemism, double speak. This essay briefly described these barriers to communication in a business setting. Cliché is a barrier of communication because it entails the use of once clever word or phrase that has lost its impact through overuse (McLean, 2010, p.58). An example of a cliché would be this is just but the wars of cats and dogs . In a business setting, the use of a cliché would undermined the seriousness with which the meeting at hand is handled. When it is used carelessly, the quorum may find it silly or boring and that may cause the listeners to ignore the message they are intended to pass. When this happens, then a cliché becomes an obstacle to the effectiveness of communication. Jargon on the other hand is the use of words which may not be familiar to everyone but to only those who frequently use it for instance the people in the same profession. An example of this would be Ceasar Pass to mean a kind of pass in soccer. Assuming that jargons are used in a business setting to audience who do not understand their specific meanings, do you think the message will be passed effectively? The Effect Of Stretching On Muscle Strength And Performance Increased muscle strength and performance is sought after by athletes of almost every discipline, as well as others simply looking to increases their health and fitness. Stretch and flexibility is another area of fitness, one that is often neglected by most people. However, the effect of stretching on both muscle strength and performance is disputed by the relatively few studies that have actually been done on the topic. The results of the studies have ranged from concluding that stretching has a negative effect on strength on performance to concluding that it has no effect to even concluding that it can have a positive effect. Many factors play a role in muscle strength and performance so it is difficult to conclusively determine what is due to stretching and what is due to one of the other variable that come into play when exercising and training. Knowing the effect of stretching on muscle strength and performance would allow athletes and their trainers to develop more efficient and productive training plans to help the athletes achieve a higher level of performance. Most people are under the impression that stretching lengthens muscles and that an increase in flexibility is due to an increase in the length of the muscle itself. This is not accurate. Flexibility is not achieved by having long muscles, but rather having to do with the length tension relationship of the muscle (Magnusson 1998). • 34. Death Is Not Master By Thomas Miller Let them die They want eternity In May Miller s Poem Death is not Master the persona explains that death is not the master that will increase the desperation but it is a way to become eternally calm. Many poems on the topic of death explain how it is as powerful of a thing that fears the existence of human beings, but Miller s persona death is a way to achieve eternal serenity. She explains death as something that can end all the worldly tears, desires and tension and transform the human memory into a sculpture which is unaware of tensions. Miller s persona believes that blocking death will be unfair as it will be a barrier to the everlasting happiness and calmness that lies inside the grave. Miller s persona is an elaboration of Christian beliefs that death ends all worldly problems as an eternal life starts after the death. The eternal life of a human or corpse after death is same as that of sculpture which shines at night and remain in one place free of all tensions and problems. As the life after death is full of calmness and happiness, so it must not be blocked and everyone must welcome it to gain the everlasting lasting life. Thus, in Miller s perspective death is not the master; instead, it is the slave of eternal life of serenity and calmness that lies ahead. So, no one should try to become a barrier by blocking the death. Repetition of you six times and I three times creates the relationship between I and You who love each other a lot and never want ... Multiple athletes give it their all out on the field, but some end up with severe injuries that can affect them for the rest of their lives. The article focuses on some of the ways and precautions that athletes and coaches can do or take to prevent athletes from receiving concussions or worse injuries. This essay discusses, high school football players are very likely to get injured towards ending season more than football college players for various reasons. A research associate said, there are ways to reduce the number and severity of football injuries through targeted intervention. (resource 1) There were high levels of knee and ankle injuries, due to ligament sprains. A way that can help to improve on those types of injuries would be stretching exercises. The positions that run a higher risk of being injured would be the running backs and linebackers. Football is the number one leading cause of sports related injuries. (resource 1) The key aspect discussed, in this sport, there is a difference in high school athletes and college athletes for the simple fact that athletes that are still in high school have brain tissue that has not been fully developed to its full capacity, whereas football players in college are already adults with their brain tissue developed completely. Studies show, concussions are more dangerous for teenagers because their brain tissue is less developed than adults. One significant event that was widely reported in the media and according to Catanzartiti and Kane (2012) captured the interest of the mainstream press more than any other case during 2011 , was the Qantas Airways Limited (Qantas) dispute . The Qantas dispute involved varying parties. The bargaining process was criticised for taking too long, as AIPA and ALAE negotiations began in August 2010, and then in 2011 TWU had began bargaining . (Brigden, 2012). As a result of no progress in the negotiations, applications to FWA were made to commence protected industrial action. Subsequently various forms of action was undertaken by the three employee groups. The unions engaged in overtime bans and ongoing brief work stoppages, which disrupted Qantas flights regularly and impacted reportedly on the airline commercially (workplace xpress 2011e) (Todd, 2012). Industrial action conducted by the Engineers included short stoppages, weekend overtime bans, full shift stoppages and a stop work meeting. The protected action was intermittent, and on some occasions was not undertaken when scheduled, also, stoppages were managed in order for Qantas to continue business. (Sangkuhl, 2011) Conciliation with FWA had also commenced but no advancements had been made (Brigden, 2012). TWU also conducted short stoppages, and a stop work meeting, and although it would appear that these were conducted to minimise disruptions this was inevitable as some stoppages were cancelled, affecting Qantas business. In East of Eden and The Kite Runner, many characters find the task of love daunting and insufficient to their expectations. Love presents itself in every aspect of both novels and therefore is a major theme. Whether it was love from family or lovers, both novels explore the idea of unrequited love and its consequences on the characters lifelong journeys. The theme of love is a major underlying cause of many problems within East of Eden for it creates a feeling of rejection by family and lovers. Amir s shame brought on by his marriage to honest Soraya was his poor treatment of his closest childhood friend, and later understood half brother, Hassan. Amir questions what would have happened had he not as a child lied monstrously about Hassan which resulted in Hassan and Ali leaving the service of Baba (Graves 1). These feelings of inadequacy arose when Amir overheard his father say I d never believe he s my son (Hosseini 23). Amir and Caleb both indirectly caused the death of their brothers because of their jealousy. Both believed the other sibling was loved more, when all actuality the only reason it seemed this way is because there was more in common between Adam and Aron and Baba and Hassan which led to a stronger bond but not greater love. Finally, Steinbeck and Hosseini both include the trials and tribulations of childhood and its affects on the boys later lives. In East of Eden, the difference between Aron and Caleb was the same as the opposites of good and evil, strength and weakness, love and hate, beauty and ugliness (Aubrey 1). Aron was all that symbolized angelic whereas Caleb was everything you would find evil. • 44. Medical Studies Of Diabetes Diabetes Due to the need for close monitoring of blood glucose and insulin level in the body, there have been various studies done regarding the various insulin regimens that are available today. Before we get into the details of the studies conducted, it is only relevant to give an overview of the problem at hand. Type I Diabetes or as it also known juvenile onset diabetes is a disorder that is normally diagnosed in young adults or children. This form of diabetes results from the destruction of the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas. With auto immune destruction being the most common cause, type I diabetes is a lifelong disease. Insulin is the basic treatment for Diabetes in about 30% of the diabetic patients in the United States. (Centers for Disease control, 2008)It should be noted that insulin is present in three different forms and a person needs to take the regimen that is most suitable for them. As mentioned earlier, too much insulin given at a time can cause a person to go in hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is way more fatal than increased glucose levels. The 30 year old female in our case was taking the Insulin Basal bolus that consisted of novo rapid and glargine. There has been much concern over the efficacy of a basal regimen to a pre mixed insulin form. A study conducted by Mathieu et. al (2013) was done to see how the change in regimen switch is tolerated. This change is the opposite of what we are proposing for the 30 year old female. In the Atlantic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1954 this 19 year old Mississippi native took the radio waves by storm with songs that were unlike anything the American public had heard before. This new sound was an amalgamation of genres, pulling elements from what was considered hillbilly music (country and western, folk, bluegrass) and colored music (rhythm and blues, jazz, gospel.) While the roots of rockabilly are much indebted to country music, they are quite different genres. Different styles of country and western music had been popular since the Great Depression era. Northern Mexico is experiencing a budding human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) epidemic, particularly among injection drug users (IDUs); who are at an increased risk of blood borne infections, hepatitis C virus (HCV), HIV, and Syphilis due to availability of drugs, increased rates of unprotected sex, and needle sharing (Frost et al., 2006). Patterson reported 75% of female sex workers (FSWs) in Ciudad (Cd.) Juárez, Mexico were injection drug users (IDUs) (2006). Then blood was drawn to test for viruses. All participants were provided counseling before and after their interviews and treatment referrals. Log linear models were used to investigate the association between the status of the recruiter and those they referred. Syphilis population estimates were obtained using RDS based estimators of personal network size to correct biased sampling (Frost et al., 2006). The prevalence of HCV was 96.6% and 95.3% in Tijuana and Cd. Juárez respectively; HIV prevalence was 1.9% and 4.1% in Tijuana and Cd. Juárez respectively, and in Cd. Juárez HBV prevalence was 84.7%. The estimated syphilis prevalence ranged from 12.4 26.8% in Tijuana and 2.9 15.6% in Cd. Juárez. The variance in syphilis prevalence was due the dependency on the pattern of recruitment and how much network size was assumed to affect sample probability. Results showed syphilis prevalence increased in women and Tijuana in comparison to men and Cd. Juárez. The results show that network size and gender are both potential confounders. The qualifiers for network size are subjective thus relate to the recruitee and syphilis level. Because female prostitutes are more likely to be IUD users, gender also relates to IDU and syphilis level. In conclusion, there was a low HIV prevalence, high syphilis prevalence, and ... The illustration depicted your typical heteronormative, Caucasian nucleus, containing a dad, mom, brother, sister, dog and cat. They live in a cottage style home with a white picket fence. They were in Vietnam working on taking total and complete control. Sadly, they didn t really know what they were doing or who was in command. For example Captain Benjamin L. Almost all wars are unpopular with the homeland but a need for our country to remain safe and free. In my opinion, the New York Times argument is stronger than the National Review s. In the situation there is a leader which is the commander, and subordinates which are the platoons. To hold a higher position comes with great responsibility among the minority. That is why they are minority , for they rely on the decision coming from the officials. The movie has strong ties to patent laws of the United States as well as the 1941 Supreme Court case of Cuno Engineering v. Automatic Devices Corp which requires that a new device must reveal the flash of creative genius, not merely the skill of the calling (JUSTIA).The movie relates to this because Ford infringed on Kearns patent (that was still under protection) and Kearns claimed to have had a flash of creative genius (why can t a windshield wiper blink like a human eye?). • 53. Great Depression And The Great Recession The Great Depression and the Great Recession are two of the darkest times in American history. There is much debate about the cause of the Great Depression and how it differed from the cause of the Great Recession. Many people believe that the stock market crash of 1929 played a major role the Great Depression. On the other hand, the stock market crash of 2008 drove America into the Great Recession. The causes of stock market crashes are often unforeseen, but many have detectable indicators. There are many differences between the 1929 stock market crash and the 2008 stock market crash, but we can learn more from the similarities between the two. The credit boom of the 1920 s is one of the things that contributed most to the stock market crash on 1929 and then the eventual cause of the Great Depression. We find that the credit boom view provides a useful perspective on both the boom of the 1920s and the subsequent slump. In particular, it directs attention to the role played by the structure of the financial sector and the interaction of finance and innovation. (Eichengreen) As many people know today, having a credit card and going shopping without realizing exactly how a credit card works can put the user in a tough situation.
