Courage Definition Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of courage can be a challenging task, as it requires a delicate
balance between personal interpretation and widely accepted definitions. Courage is a
multifaceted concept that encompasses physical, moral, and intellectual dimensions, making it
difficult to encapsulate in a single, concise definition.
One of the challenges lies in navigating the nuanced nature of courage and avoiding
oversimplification. Different individuals may perceive courage in varied ways based on their
experiences, cultural backgrounds, and personal values. Crafting an essay that captures this
diversity of perspectives while maintaining clarity can be demanding.
Furthermore, delving into the historical and cultural context of courage adds another layer of
complexity. Analyzing how courage has been defined and exemplified throughout different eras
and societies requires thorough research and critical thinking. Balancing the exploration of
universal themes with the acknowledgment of cultural relativism is crucial for a well-rounded
essay.
Expressing one's own thoughts and experiences with courage can be both empowering and
challenging. It involves introspection and vulnerability, as the writer must convey personal
insights while connecting them to broader, shared human experiences. Striking the right tone,
avoiding clichГ©s, and ensuring the essay remains focused on the theme of courage are
additional hurdles.
In conclusion, writing a Courage Definition Essay demands a thoughtful and nuanced approach.
It necessitates the ability to navigate diverse perspectives, delve into historical and cultural
contexts, and convey personal reflections with clarity and depth. Despite its challenges,
exploring the concept of courage through the written word offers an opportunity for personal
growth and intellectual engagement.

Queen Elizabeth 1
Elizabeth I of England was the queen for forty five years. She was often referred to
as Good Queen Bess, Gloriana, or the Virgin Queen. During her reign, Elizabeth was
imprisoned, threatened by conspiracy, dealt with impending warfare, and had to
answer to the question of marriage so she and her country would survive. She had
endured so much and brought so much culture during her reign that it s not surprising
that her long reign is called the Elizabethan Era, or the Golden Age of England.
Elizabeth Tudor, better known as Queen Elizabeth I of Englandand Ireland, was the
last ruler the Tudor dynasty and is considered one of the greatest rulers of England.
She was the only child of Anne Boleynand Henry VIII, and was born on September 7,

This gave Catholic countries, such as France and Spain, another reason to attack
England and also brought on threats to the Queen, along with assassinations and
attempts to overthrow her so that her cousin, Mary, Queen of Scots, could be
queen. As many Catholics tried to take the throne away from Elizabeth I, she
decided to imprison Mary, Queen of Scots for twenty years before beheading her.
Since Elizabeth I was excommunicated, she was forced to impose harsher laws on
Catholics and helped Protestants in Spanish Holland rebel. This made the Spanish
Armada attempt to invade England in 1588, but the English navy was able to
defeat them. Many say that weather conditions had to do with the victory, along
with the fact that Sir Francis Drake was a sea dog that was in the English navy at
the time. Elizabeth I would also use her single status to deal with these attacks and
to get out of major warfare with Spain or France. She would often threaten to marry
foes of other s and she would court many men, including Eric XIV of Sweden,
Archduke Charles of Austria, Henry, Duke of Anjou, and Francis, Duke of Anjou and
Alençon. She was able to navigate through many political and foreign affairs
through these courtships, which kept England out of trouble. Later, Elizabeth I was
considered to be married to her country, which made her extremely popular with her
Health Department Levels
There are three levels of health departments within the United States, all of which are
equally important and play a vital role in the communities they serve. There is a
federal, state, and local health department. All three levels have a common goal of
protecting the health of citizens. Not only do they detect and try to stop outbreaks of
infectious diseases through immunization, they also provide important human
services such as child protection and domestic violence programs and substance abuse
treatments. This department has a wide range of jobs that everyone in the United
States relies on.

already in place as well as for new programs if they so desire. All ... Show more

The HHS website also has a news tab full of news releases and information from
their press office. There were many interesting articles online, too. The one that
caught my eye the most was one regarding the use of organ transplants. According
to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, 116,000 citizens
around our country were on the transplant list in 2017. Around 20 people on this
list die everyday because the amount of organ donations come in at a very slow
rate, while the waiting list just continues to get longer. There are studies being done
to see if organ transplants from people who died from overdose could help solve this
mass need for organs. It could potentially save thousands of
Racism In School
Although the school had a good reputation and seemed to be a great school. It had
many struggles over the years. The institution had closed twice. The first time they
had enough funds to reopen it, but the second time there was just not enough people
to keep it open. To many teachers and students had enlisted into the war. Leaving the
schoolclosed. The school was an enormous success while it was open and helped
many people to see through racism and learn that it is ok to go to school with
different races. Many kids from this school still went on to have great jobs such as
teachers, doctors, lawyer, and much more. The school was an overall immense
success. There was now a public school close by that kids could get an educationat.

She contained to fight and help everyone she could. Shortly after her school had
closed, she was interested in seeing the works in the south. Once she had gone
through and seen all of the terrible things in the south Laura said, I tell you there s
more in hell tonight for treating niggers this way then for all others sins put
together (Danforth 136). She had watched two little boys be beat and a young
woman. She spent many nights crying and praying. During her trip, down she was
going to help a girl from little rock get to the north. With much suspicion going on,
Laura was worried they were going to get caught and worse would happen to the
girl then being a slave. Laura did not want to risk it, and abandoned this trip. She
told the girl she would be on the first boat home. (Danforth 139) This is a small
example of a time she tried, but did not succeed. She did not think the trip was
pointless though. She talked to many people on the way home, and helped them
just by giving them some guidance. On the boat home, she met a couple that was
very sad and were frequently seen crying. Many people on the boat were making
fun of them. Laura was waiting for a time to stop and talk to them. She finally got
an opportunity and told them Jesus was the friend of the poor, and he had many
followers who also remembered them in prayer (Haviland 229). In the end, she did
not help the girl get to the north, but she did
The Day Of A Peach Orchard
It was a brisk day as I walked downtown, admiring the small and large businesses
nestled into the corners of the long, narrow streets. As I walked down these
familiar streets that I ve known all my life, a watch appeared out of nowhere, as if
it had just popped into existence that very moment. I looked down at the odd
watch, it was black and silver, like any other watch. I picked it up. Looking closer,
I noticed that this watch did not look quite as mundane as I had thought previously.
Instead of a clock it had something that looked like a map of the world and a rolling
combination lock. I pressed a couple buttons on the side, accidently moving the lock.
I looked down and saw the numbers were showing the combination 1 8 6 3, I pressed

Well, at least I won t have to survive the night by myself. Before I knew it, he began
walking in the direction he came. I jogged after him. I looked around at the peach
orchard, it was so pretty. The leaves were a vibrant color of green, radiating on each
stretched out branch. Yellow and orange peaches hung from each branch, slightly
moving with the light breeze provided on this hot day.
I bet you re wondering how a bloody battle could occur in a peaceful place like this,
huh? Lawrence said in a calming voice, however he seemed quite stressed, I suppose
that s what happen when you re in a war, you get stressed and worried.
Yeah, it seems so nice, how could fighting ruin something this tranquil?
You d be surprised how war can affect places like this. But I suppose that when men
find something worth fighting for, they ll fight, he said, glancing at me, but still
looking towards the horizon of several hills.
I suppose you re right, I pondered, still looking at the beautiful orchard surrounding
us. Remembering what will happen to it in history.
We walked in silence after this for about an hour. My legs began to get sore from all
this walking, I knew we still had several hours to go until we got to camp. I can t
stand this silence, it s so... boring.
So, Lawrence, what s it like? Being in the army, that is.
Well, it can certainly be hard at times. There are battles where you realise that you

Lidar Project
LiDAR is a remote sensing survey method that improved upon the advances of
laser altimeter data by being able to model fuel parameters. Models depicting forest
fire behavior are invaluable to resource managers. There are several forest canopy
structures that are particularly effective at modeling fire behavior (Peterson, 2013).
These canopy metrics include height, fuel weight, base height and bulk density
(Andersen et al, 2005). High resolution LiDAR technology enabled large areas of
forest to be measured three dimensionally (Sima et al, 2014). After the LiDAR data
were collected from either a stationary platform or mounted to an aircraft, statistical
regressions could develop numerous predictive models that mapped fuel parameters.

K means clustering works in this capacity by portioning n number of observations
into k number of clusters. Each n is associated with a k based on the mean. The
analysis is complete when each observation is assigned a cluster that is closest to its
arithmetic mean (Nekola, 2004). K means clustering results in several clusters which
can then be assigned to tree, shrub, understory or other related layers. The technology
used to create such DEM s began with early laser survey techniques. Remote sensing
of vegetation advanced significantly with the widespread implementation of laser
scanners. Laser altimeters mounted on aircraft were used to measure vegetation and
surface patterns. The early altimeters were pulsed lasers that could transmit and
receive several thousand pulses per second. A portable computer onboard the aircraft
collected the digital data from the altimeter. The data could later be analyzed to
determine patterns of vegetative cover, patchiness and vegetation height. In Weltz et
al (1994) tested laser altimeter derived canopy cover and vegetative height against
field data made using the line intercept transect method (Eberhardt, 1978). Weltz et al
determined that the altimeter measurements were not significantly different from the
field data. However, canopy cover was consistently overestimated by under 0.3
meters. Early airborne laser scanners were effective at measuring stand and canopy
height (Gaveau, 2003). Mean

Effects Of The Truman Doctrine
President Truman Doctrine 1945 1953 Contain the expansion of communism,
presumably everywhere. Truman Doctrine 1947 announced on the 12th of March
1947 in response to Greek civil war and communist threat in Turkey, Truman asks
Congress to approve $400 million in aid to both countries, and they accept, sets a
precedent of US help to threaten states through economic means (Woolsey, G.
C.2008). The Truman Doctrine, effectively change U.S. foreign policy (Woolsey, G.
C. 2008). U.S initially adopted the policy to remove themselves from regional
conflicts not involving the United States directly, or from possible intervening in
distant conflicts. On March 31 the British Government announces military and
economic would no longer provide the Greek Government with assistance in its civil
war against the Greek Communist Party (KayaoДџlu, B.2009). The U.S. Government
was under the impression the Soviet Union was supporting the Greek Communist
war, but In fact, Joseph Stalin the Soviet leader had deliberately stopped providing
assistance to the Greek Communists. The U.S did have concern that if the
Communists would prevail in the Greek civil war, then the Soviets would try to
influence Greek policy. It also looked like the Soviet was meddling in the affairs of
the Turkish and the Greek, and with the British withdrawing from assisting both
countries, Truman decided to request that Congress give support for the Greek and
Turkish Government against the Communists. Truman then requested $400
Australian Fiscal Policy Analysis
Examine the impact of fiscal policy on the Australian economy
Introduction
Fiscal policy is a macroeconomic management tool that involves the use of the
Commonwealth Government s Budget In order to achieve the government s

fiscal policy, it shows the government s planned revenue for the next financial year.
By varying the amount of government spending and revenue, the government can
alter the level of aggregate demand, which in turn will influence economic growth,
environmental sustainability, distribution of income and wealth, internal stability
(inflation and unemployment) and external stability (current account deficit, foreign

It can increase funding to support or subsidise the development of certain resources
encouraging the market to use that particular resource. In the 2015 16 budget the
government will be implementing structural reforms to help encourage small
business growth and more generous child care payments, making it easier for parents
to participate in the workforce and promote stronger business confidence.
The budget can also be used to redistribute the incomes to increase equality. This
means redirecting incomes from top income earners to the lowest earners. It is
achieved primarily through progressive taxes. However in the 2015 16 budget
inequality is unlucky to be changed much on a national level. Investment in child care
to help parents get back to work could address the unemployment however the
superannuation rules were not changed.

Time in Artist s Work
Andy Warhol once wrote a poem about time. About Time. From time to time. Do
time. Time yourself. Weekends. In time. In no time. In good time. Between time.
Time and again. Lifetime. Time worn. Pass time. Mark time. Buy time. Keep time.
On time. In time. Time off. Time out. Time in. Time card. Time lapse. Time
zone. The
beforetime. The meantime. The aftertime. The All time. В№ However different the
actions of these phrases may imply, they are all congruent under one conceptual
factor: time. The measurement of existence is based on the past, present and future.
The residue of existence is art. Art is a product of time. Deliberate or not, time in
artists work play a role in the making through process, narration, materials and
motion.
Art is a process. One must move freely from idea, to research/exploration, to
construct in order to become fully immersed in the act of making. Even in the
construction of a piece the elements go through a series of actions, changes and
functions bringing about a result. ВІ This all develops over time. There are artists
whose work directly comments on process and becomes part of the meaning. Sol
LeWitt s conceptual works by instruction and Chuck Close s photogravure production
exemplify process. Sol LeWitt s drawings derive from a set of specific instructions,
which are executed often by others than himself. The work changes each time it is
explored depending upon the hand that is drawing. The parameters of the instructions

The Election Of 2016, By Milton Friedman, Joseph Stalin,...
After taking these two quizzes, I was really intrigued by the results because I have
never really taken surveys like these and it was interesting to learn more about
myself and political views. On the first quiz, which was the political compass, the
results stated that I am more of a Liberal leftist. When looking at the results in
comparison to different leaders, I noticed that I was placed closest to Nelson
Mandela. Also, when I compared my results specifically to the candidates in the
Presidential Election of 2016, I was farthest from Donald Trump and closest to Jill
Stein. I think that I was pretty well matched on this quiz, but I don t agree with
some of the details. I believe that this was a good match because on the very first
chart after taking the quiz, the people shown were Adolf Hitler, Margaret Thatcher,
Milton Friedman, Joseph Stalin, and Mahatma Gandhi. On this chart, I was placed
closest to Gandhi, who was a liberal leftist and believed in the supreme value of
every individual, which is something that is extremely important to me. He also
believed that peace was essential in life. Although I agree with him on this
specifically, I don t fully agree with absolutely no violence at all. Sometimes we
need protection against other countries and attacks, etc. However, he fought hard to
lead India to independence and he stimulated movements for freedom and civil
rights in and across the world. I certainly agree that I should be placed closed to
The Catcher in the Rye
The Catcher in the Rye Character Analysis of Holden Caufield
In J.D. Salinger s novel The Catcher in the Rye, the main character, Holden
Caufield, describes in detail the parts of his life and his environment that bother him
the most. He faces these problems with a kind of naivety that prevents him from
fully understanding why it is that he is so depressed. His life revolves around his
problems, and he seems helpless in evading them. Among others, Holden finds
himself facing the issues of acceptance of death, growing up, and his own self
destructiveness.
One of the hardships Holden must cope with is his inability to come to terms with
death, in particular that of his younger brother, Allie. Holden seems to have
experienced a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter twenty five, Holden, while walking along Fifth Avenue, begins to believe
that he will not be able to get to the other side of the street each time he reaches the
end of a block, as if he will just fall off. He talks aloud to Allie to help him get
through the ordeal. Holden also continues to see Allie as one of the few things he
likes about life.
Yet another demon that Holden avoids is the process of having to grow up.
Throughout the book, he seems hesitant to develop any real ambitions or goals. He is
a perpetual failure at school. He refuses to associate himself with mature ways of
living, and so isolates himself from anyone his own age or older. This is all
directly connected to Holden s picture perfect image of his childhood. He sees this
particular period of his life as his own personal paradise. He does not want to
finalize the fact that he has to concede it s innocence in the end. Towards the end
of the book, Holden shows his desire for life to remain as it was by saying,
...certain things should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in
one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone. Holden does not want to join
a world of phonies and greed, a world lacking in carelessness and irresponsibility. He
won t, whether consciously or not, accept the fact that he has no choice.
A final conflict in the life of Holden Caufield is his own self destructiveness. That he

Linear and Nonlinear Optical Susceptibilities and Hyperpolarizability of Borate
LiNaB4O7 Single Crystals: Theory and Experiment
Ali Hussain Reshak, Xuean Chen, S. Auluck and H. Kamarudin
Journal of Applied Physics 2012

Since the successful demonstration of second harmonic generation by a propagation
of a ruby laser beam via a quartz crystal by Franken et al,1 borate materials have been
widely studied to employ in the potential applications such as nonlinear optics (NLO)
and laser (mainly in visible and UV light) engineering.2, 3, 4, 5 Materials with
NLO properties are useful for generating new frequency laser sources that cannot
be directly produced from the common laser sources.2 Consequently, NLO
materials have enabled a wider range of frequencies produced from the available
laser. Borate materials have a few great properties, for example, short growth
period, high damage threshold, large effective nonlinear coefficient and good
mechanical properties.6 This suggests that borate materials are well fitted for the
purpose of laser frequency conversion. BaB2O4, LiB3O5, CsB3O5 and
YCa4(BO3)3O are examples of well known borate based NLO crystals.2 An early
review on the comparison of the damage threshold and optical transmittance of these
mentioned borate crystal compounds have been done by Becker in which the use of
the favourable anionic group and birefringence in the borate materials are the
essential features needed to produce
Isis As The Mother Goddess
The push for equality between genders has been a highly disputed topic since the
blossoming of the feminist movement. For years women have felt undervalued and
oppressed because of the standards of success put in place by the patriarchal society.
However, early evidence suggests that females were once renowned through the
archetype of the great goddessbecause of a female s ability to create life through
giving birth, justifying that the mother goddesswould be the most powerful of the
gods (82). The beginning of the rise of the patriarch can be traced back thousands of
years to the myths and legends of the ancient Egyptians and Mespotamians, where the
once revered great goddesses were replaced with male counterparts, often involving
humiliation for the goddess involved.
In Egyptian mythology, Isis is known as the mother goddess and creator of all living
things; the ancient Egyptians would pray to her for bountiful crops because they
relied on her nurturing care for survival (14). Isis is portrayed as a loyal and caring
goddess in her journey to revive her murdered husband throughout the story of
Osiris, Isis, and Horus; she sail[s] up and down the Nile in a papyrus boat, and
wander[s] through the country in order to find her husband s scattered remains,
proving her devotion to him (19). While she has assistance on her journey from
other gods and goddesses, she is the leader in finding Osiris no one else seems to take
interest in reviving the god of Upper and Lower
Free Church Sociology
This week we are focusing on the types of people who come to our selected field
site. The individuals who frequent Free Church all have one thing in common, they
attend the church because they want to learn more about the Christian religion,
worship God, and possibly meet other people who have the same desire. In some
cases the members may have grown up in a Christian family where they have been
going to church since they were young, or they could have found Christianitylater in
their lives. Moreover in my research, I saw that men were going to men s ministry to
learn what it means to be a man within the context of Christian teachings, and women
were going to women s ministry to lean the same thing. Josie and I discussed that in

The first is that they assume that religious people are too uneducated to think for
themselves, and they are simple minded followers who believe everything that the
church tells them. In addition, some researchers have assumed that because someone
is a part of the Christian community, they hold specific opinions on political issues
that are intertwined with religion (abortion, gay marriage). However, this is
inaccurate as there are a number of unique individuals and opinions within the
Christian church. Furthermore, there are two different types of people who attend
the church. The first is the pastor who most likely went to university to learn about
Christianity and is knowledgeable on the subject, and the people who attend the
church, and are there to obtain this knowledge. This creates a power dynamic within
the church, where one person has authority over the education of
Children s Full Participation Within Society Essay
In this essay I will look at barriers, both social and practical, that commonly exist to
prevent, and or limit children s full participation within society. Firstly I will define
what we mean by the child and childhood and then ascertain my understanding of
both practical and social barriers. Barriers that prevent any or full participation for
children within society are so vast and complex with their many facets and
interpretations that they cannot all be fully explored within this assignment.
However of the various things in which we can look at, I will focus on two key
areas of policy and practice pertinent to the question. Firstly we will look at the
government initiative Sure Start and the policies which feed off this such as Every
ChildMatters (ECM) and secondly of how children are viewed in the arena of
politics and how this is in line with children s rights and what the UNCRC want in
terms of full participation for all children. Both of these samples are UK based and
within these I will explore to what extent inclusive practices are either effective or
tokenistic. I will conclude with a look back at the essay question with the aim of
critically answering whether children are anywhere near being recognised as full
participants, or whether full participation is still just an ideal.
The child, in the United Kingdom, is categorised within a legal framework as anyone
under the age of eighteen years of age. Thorne, (2009) suggests that childhood

Ms. Johnson informed me that the parents would not want the mentors and mentees

Characteristics Of Leopards And Leopards
Leopards The name leopard comes from a Greek word meaning leopardus. Which
it s a combination of a lion and a panther. They are also considered as panthers but it
just has spots. Leopards look similar to the jaguars but just that the leopards have
little spots than the jaguar s spots. These big cats aren t just any other big cats like
the lion, jaguars, and tigers, What makes them different than the jaguars is their
coat, how they take care of their cubs, and what their diet is. I know leopards are
similar like these other big cats but let s just focus on these unique cats. These
panthers with spots have a soft fur just like any other mammals. Most of the
mammals fur are soft. Leopards and jaguars have the same patterns of fur, such as
spot that are black. The coat of most leopards is light tan with many dense black
spots (page. 202 203) says Schlitter. Which the leopards are described in some
people eyes when they see them. As in the jaguars their fur have bigger spots and
sometimes have little spots inside the spots. The leopards fur camouflages them into
the grass that is around them, when they are being sneaky for their meal of the day.
A leopard s diet are mostly anything that has considered meat which makes them
carnivores. Each time that they go and hunt, they aren t as picky on what they eat.
Everytime that they go hunting for their food they hunt for gazelle, impala, and deer.
On occasion when they go hunting they go for monkeys, rodents, and birds.
Analysis Of Mirror By Sylvia Plath
Mirror
I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions.
Whatever you see I swallow immediately
Just as is, unmisted by love or dislike.
I am not cruel, only truthful
One literary technique that Plath utilizes frequently in her poems is motifs; with
certain topics appearing consistently in her poems: feet, nature, death, and, in
particular, mirrors. Entitled Mirror, this poem personifies a mirror, and what it
experiences through its own eyes. The mirror begins by describing its physical
appearance as silver and exact, and how it has no preconceptions, the mirror is
emphasizing the fact that when looking at one s physical appearance in the mirror, in
this case the lady character in the poem, that the mirror gives the entire truth of how a
person actually appears. The mirror is not willing to alter the image of an
individual because it is not the truth. It is often perceived that the mirror is being
cruel because the woman is not always pleased when seeing her reflection, the
mirror is the voice of honesty in this poem and it is only being truthful to the
woman about her appearance. Later in the poem, the mirror becomes a lake, and
this time when the woman is looking at her reflection, I believe that she is looking
at more than just her physical reflection; she is searching for her inner self. I do
not believe that the woman will be able to find her true self through the reflection
of the lake because the water is able to shape in all directions; in essence, the lady
could shape her own perception of her true self just as water can be shaped. The
poem also mentions that the woman turns to those liars, the candles or the moon,
it is evident through this line to identify that the woman is clearly using the candle
and the moon to alter her true appearance. The woman in the end comes back to
the mirror because she knows that it will always be honest with her. Although the
woman comes to the conclusion that she values the truth, I at first perceived her
as crazy for using a candle in order to make her appear more attractive, but this can be
very relatable in today s society. I realized that everyday I am also a victim of altering
my appearance in a mirror as well; when taking a

What reasons would you up and move to a new country? European settlers came to
America to seek new opportunities and discover new things and also to escape

Title: Safety of Genetically Modified Foods and its Impact on Global Public Health
Introduction: Genetically modified foods are made from genetically changed plants
or animals. Genetic change is done through transfer of specific genes from one
organism to another or between two different species. Genetically modified crops are
more productive, resistant to herbicide, tolerant to drought and flood, less expensive
than naturally produced food and have more nutrition value. Objectives: 1. to identify
cost effectiveness of genetically modified foods 2. to discuss the possible adverse
effects of genetically modified foods to human health and environment and 3. global
public health impact of genetically modified foods.

It will continue in the coming days. Despite this, general public is more or less
unaware of the genetic modification, its advantages and disadvantages. Some people
oppose genetic modification without knowing the information about genetic
modification. They have emerging concerns for Genetic modifications associated
with environmental hazard and human health. The genetically modified food like the
insect resistant maize and herbicide tolerant soybean is in the US food market for
almost 20 years with noteworthy advantages including reduced use of insecticides
and herbicides, lessened labor costs and enhancement in food quality (Brookes
Barfoot, 2012). Day by day the number and amount of genetically modified food is
increasing. The seeds and food plans are genetically modified for better production
and tolerate adverse climate conditions. Sociocultural idiosyncrasies are different in
different communities. Many countries within the European Union are reluctant
invest time and effort to uplift genetic modification of food production. In the United
States, most of the people accept genetically modified food without major concerns
and a few other groups of people opposes genetically modified food (Zilberman,
Kaplan, Kim, Hochman, Graff, 2013). The global population is increasing and the
crop fields are shrinking to accommodate the space for housing and industries. It is
essential to increase food production by 70% by the year 2050 to feed increased
number of population (Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations
(FAO, 2009)). In many countries of Sub Saharan Africa and Asia, lack of food causes
increased malnutrition and mortality of infants. About 54% child mortality is linked
with malnutrition in developing countries in 2001(World Health Organization, 2013).
Shortage of food causes overall undernutrition and disease burden on the entire

The Importance Of Lebanese Migration To Australia
The earliest recorded account of Lebanese people arriving to Australia was in the
late 19th century to escape and flee from the economic adversity and religious and
political discrimination under the Ottoman Empire. Victoria arose to see settlement
from Lebanon after about the 1880s. It is tough to be precise about the amount of
Lebanese settling as immigrants from Lebanon were variously confidential as Asian,
Turkish or Syrian until the 1950s. Nonetheless, it is identified that countless primary
migrants were single males or small clusters of males, eager to create money fast
and possibly return home. Several of the early Lebanese settlers in Victoria labored
as hawkers, purchasing their goods in Melbourne and vending them in rural regions.
Explain The Decline Of The Russian Regime After The...
Following the Russian revolution of 1905, continued oppression of the lower class,
government corruption, and the initial strains of industrialization such as urban
overcrowding, long working hours, and abhorrent working conditions cultivated an
increasing distrust of the Russian Regime throughout the Empire. Once Russia
entered World War I, the Russian economy rapidly deteriorated putting further stress
on daily life.[1] Additionally, Russian citizens became increasingly angry as their
military suffered heavy casualties and major defeats.[2] After a few years of war, the
worsening inflation, food and fuel shortages, and other consequences of war united

Essay on Assessment of Psychopathology
Assessment of Psychopathology
Normally both fear and anxiety can be helpful, helping us to avoid dangerous
situations, making us alert and giving us the motivation to deal with problems.
However, if the feelings become too strong or go for too long, they can stop us from
doing the things we want to and can make our lives miserable. A phobiais a fear of
particular situations or things that are not dangerous and which most people do not
find troublesome.
Most common phobias are found in the following three categories Specific, Social

For an individual s reactions to be clinically diagnosed as a phobia the following
conditions must be met. Firstly, the fear must be persistent, and must be severe.
Secondly, the individual must feel compelled to avoid or escape from the phobic

illogical or irrational.
For Specific phobias the average age of onset is around 7 to 9 years. People with
specific phobias know that their fear is excessive, but are unable to overcome their
emotion. The disorder is diagnosed only when the specific fear interferes with daily

The Reasoning Behind Glow Sticks
Glow sticks are famous among many genders and ages, but the reasoning behind
the glowing factor is disregarded. A glow stick is composed of two tubes: a plastic
outer tube, and a glass vile within the plastic tube. Within the two chambers,
different chemicals and solutions are held, which are the explanation for the bright
outcome. Inside the plastic tube is a solution of phenyl oxalate ester and the
fluorescent dye used to create the final color of the glow stick, while the glass
cylinder contains hydrogen peroxide. Based upon color preference, the type of
fluorescent dye used varies. The glass container separates the two solutions,
preventing a chemical reaction before intended ( The Chemistry of Glow Sticks ).

Controlling The Costs Of Healthcare
Controlling the costs of healthcare benefits is something that takes quite a bit of skill
from organizations. Companies can either cut costs by using an Alternative Pharmacy
Network (APN), outsourcing through business process outsourcing (BPO), or hiring
more contingent workers than non contingent workers. The health insurancebenefit
should be both affordable and able to cover the needs of the organization s
employees. By obtaining affordable health care coverage for its employees an
organization can use that as an effective recruitment and retention tool. An
organization s goal should aim to provide its employees with affordable healthcare
while keeping the costs of providing those benefits down.
Cost Cutting Measures Controlling the costs of healthcare is a major concern for
organizations as the costs of healthcare continue to rise. Outsourcing has become a
topic of great discussion for organizations seeking to lower the costs of healthcare
for their employees. Such relationships, a company contracts with a vendor that
rents its skills, knowledge, technology, service and manpower for an agreed upon
price and period to perform functions the client no longer wants to do. (Adler, 2003).
Outsourcing has been used to cut costs for companies by hire through a temporary
staffing agency. The same process works for business process outsourcing such as
human resource services involving employee benefits such as health care coverage.
Business process outsourcing is also used for
The Suez Canal Crisis
Though widely acknowledged as one of the smaller incidents of the Eisenhower
Presidency, the Suez Canal Crisis did not only present one of the most concerning
existential threats during the 1950s, it became a crucial turning point for U.S.
foreign policy in the Middle East. Beyond that, this crisis bucked the hundred year
old status quo of Britain s monopoly of power in the region. Due to the large flow of
cross currents occurring at the same time, such as Egypts engagements with the
Soviet Union, the British and French reactive policy to losing a foothold in the
region, and Israel s unwillingness to agree to a cease fire, U.S. foreign policy rather
than military intervention expressed the genuine efforts of the Eisenhower
administration to combat the threat of international communism and the
consequences of those efforts. In the past, the understanding of the Suez CanalCrisis
has largely been based from Egyptian and British viewpoints. However, in 2010 the
Office of the Historian in the U.S. Department of State released hundreds of recently
declassified documents made available to the public. Leading expert on the
Eisenhower Presidency, Dr. David Nichols, meticulously combed through these to
document the day by day, and often minute by minute, decisions made on behalf of
the Eisenhower administration during the duration of the Suez Crisis. After doing so,
Dr. Nichols argues in his book, Eisenhower 1956: The President s Year of Crisis, that

Battle Of Wilson s Creek Essay
THE BATTLE OF WILSON S CREEK
Introduction The Civil War in Missouri began in 1861 with The Battle of Wilson s
Creek. On August 10, 1861 Union and Confederate forces clashed in a town
southwest of Springfield and struggled bitterly for control of Missouri in the Civil
War s first year.1
History Missouri, with its strategic position on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers
was viewed by the federal government as vital to Union success. This created a
unique set of border state politics between Missouri s residents and its leaders.
In 1861, Missourians could be divided into three political categories, conditional

On June 11, 1861 Governor Jackson met with General Lyon in an attempt at
compromise. After five hours with no agreement Lyon declared war against all
secessionists within Missouri and started mobilizing his army. This began a two
month campaign to drive the secessionists out of Missouri and set into motion the
events leading up to the Battle of Wilson s Creek.5 Planning/Preparation Lyon,
receiving reinforcements from Kansas, launched attacks that drove the newly
formed Missouri State Guard into the southwestern corner of the state. Battles at
Boonville Missouri on June 17 and Carthage on July 5 started to set the tone for
battles to come. By August, more than 7,000 men were in Springfield Missouri
under the command of General Lyon.6 Major General Sterling Price, commander
of the Missouri State Guard, needed help to oppose Lyon s forces in Springfield.
He called upon Confederate commander Ben McCulloch. McCulloch agreed and
moved 5,000 men into Missouri. This proved to be the first invasion of Confederate
troops into Union territory. After McCulloch s men joined Price s they set out for
Springfield. During the advance, McCulloch and Price had several skirmishes with

An Interview With A Interview
An interview involves communication between at least two persons. Each contributor
impacts and is impacted by the responses of the other. The practice of interviewing is
central to the work done in many mental health settings. Interviews may be conducted
for a variety of intended purposes and can be structured, semi structured, or
unstructured to best serve the purpose of the interview. The goals of a particular
interview relate to the context in which that interview is conducted. Ethical clinical
interviewing encompasses care for the client while working to achieve the goals of
the interview. Some practitioners refer to interviewing as a conversation with a

Clinical interviewing is the foundation for practically all work conducted in the
helping professions. There are a number of distinct advantages that contribute to the
widespread use of clinical interviewing. Interviews are inexpensive to conduct, are
multidimensional in that they tap into both verbal and nonverbal behaviors, are both
portable and flexible, and facilitate the development of a therapeutic rapport.
Due to these advantages, the clinical interview has become the most widely used
method of preliminary clinical assessment and provides a basic context for almost all
other psychological assessments and treatments. The concept that

Abstract
At the request of the Chief Operations Officer and the Vice President Operations,
Riordan Manufacturing, an evaluation was requested for the development of a
Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system. The system is to track and manage
raw materials as well as finished product inventory throughout Riordan
Manufacturing. Overall, the objective of implementing an MRP is to reduce on hand
raw materials and finished goods inventory costs. The intent of this paper is to

Once completed, the corporate assets should be more than adequate to support MRP
usage along with other corporate endeavors in the ERP realm.
Based on input from the software vendor, the MRP will be capable of handling an
increase in activity generated by the corporate goal of increased sales and marketing.
Economic feasibility was assessed as follows:
MRP will reduce operational cost by a minimum of 10% by eliminating surge hiring
and purchasing to meet production needs.
MRP will reduce cycle time by a minimum of 15% by normalizing the production
lines and quantities of products on hand or in production.
MRP will reduce on hand stock of finished products by up to 30% by reducing lead
times associated with production and procurement of raw materials.
Break even point will be realized within 6 months of implementation.
MRP will result in greater customer satisfaction as lead times are reduced or
eliminated in purchase to delivery times.
The current business process can be summarized both verbally and visually.
Currently raw materials are ordered and stockpiled. Once an order is received, the
material on hand is reviewed to ensure sufficient quantities are available. If sufficient
quantities are not on hand additional materials are ordered. Deliverables are
manufactured and shipped to the customer. Review of raw materials on hand is

Implementing this strategy will Improve operational efficiency of the firm.
Operational efficiency is inevitable for any organisation to grow their business. As
the best practices shared throughout the firm regardless of BU s, the firm s
employees will have opportunity to gain more knowledge so that firm would face
very fewer problems. It will also Increase in Involvement of the top management.
Communication will flawless and operational performance will provide better result
as the strategy will be clear from top to bottom. As employers are part of the
system it will provide extra motivation for the employees to achieve both the firms
goal and the organisation s goal. But on the downside the cultures and believes will
collide and may cause some organisational conflicts and it will result in increased
workload of the employees so that it might actually put high pressure on employees to
come up with the best
The Memoir Of A Recovering Skinhead

hers so Frank would not know he was Irish. John s introduction into Frank s life
was what had truly ignited Frank s anger. John was his mother s new boyfriend,
who eventually married his mother and raised two children with her. He also beat

Frank s cousin Nick was another huge element in his life, since he taught him
many life lessons. An example of such is seen when Frank joins and takes part in
Nick s crew, which Nick then explains to Frank that he cannot protect him despite
the fact that they are family. In addition to family, Frank also met more people that

Texas A M University Kingsville should provide ceiling fans to different areas of
the school Description of Problem: The proposal is that most school areas
including Texas A M University Kingsville should provide fans in every part or
unit of the school which includes the classrooms and your room areas. Fans are
used mainly for creating a current of air or breeze, especially a machine using an
electric motor to rotate and in order to move air that is used for cooling the area.
The problem of the proposal leading to making a change in convincing the schoolto
provide fans in different areas can come in many different ways. There are several
problems that I want to discuss that leads to schools providing fans to different
areas. It includes that without fans in the school area it can affect your health
status, it can lead to dehydration in which your body loses more water than it takes
in and it can also lead to death. The first problem of the fans not being provided to
different parts of the school area is that it can lead to affecting your health. In general,
a fanhelps to cool the surrounding when people are inside their roomsduring the day.
When there is no presence of fan, most people would sweat and in a hot area with no
cold atmosphere coming in through it could lead to suffocation due to the presence
of much heat.
The second problem is that it can lead to dehydration. In this aspect where a place or
a surrounding is hot you would sweat. This will

Pros And Disadvantages Of Routing
Networks are usually very humungous which makes the implementation of routing
algorithms really tough. Hence there is a need to divide the networks into
autonomous systems. AS are groups of networks and routers which are under the
control of a single admin. Routing can broadly be divided into interior and exterior
routingbased on whether routing is inside an autonomous system or not.
There are three major/popular routing protocols being used.
Interior:
Routing Information Protocol (RIP)
Open Shortest Path First Protocol (OSPF)
Exterior
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
Routing Information Protocol (RIP) is the simplest and commonly used routing
protocol in IP networks. It makes use of distance vector routing technique and UDP

Disadvantages:
It has slow convergence. If a change is made in a network, it might take really long
for the router to learn about it if they are not close by. To prevent this max hop is
introduced.
It is too simple in terms of metric
It might be unstable and leads to count to infinity problem. (loops of packets)
Scalability is an issue
Open Shortest Path First: OSPF is an interior routing protocol and is base on link
state routing. It is comparatively more recent and efficient than the widely used
RIP. It also makes use of autonomous systems. It breaks the autonomous systems
into one more level that is areas. It does not make use of only hop count as metric.
Metric based on type of service like minimum delay (rtt), maximum throughput,
reliability, etc. It is competitively more scalable than the RIP. It minimizes delay and
maximizes throughput. It makes use of IP and has a value in the IP Header which is
a 8 bit protocol field.

Muscle Groups Research Paper
Different muscle groups learn to work together to perform and stabilize a
movement. For example, while the Biceps Brachii produces the main force for the
bicep curl, the Brachialis role in stabilization is increased, and the Triceps Brachii
relax to allow for the Biceps to exert greater force.
The body needs to learn to coordinate agonists and antagonists properly for maximal
force production.
As the interaction within a single muscle group improves, the motor neurons
connection with the individual muscle fibres it innervates is strengthened. The body
also becomes better at recruiting motor units and muscle fibres to produce force.

could have aloaked and ran away. First of all, Romeo did not have to kill Tybalt,
because the Prince was going to kill him anyway, as a punishment for murdering

Tybalt. Tybalt did murder Romeo s best friend. If Romeo would not have killed

Genetic Disorders of Nonsense Point Mutations
Gene expression is regulated by the cell, and genetic mutations can cause permanent
changes in the cell s genetic material. Specifically, one type of mutation that occurs in
a cell s DNA is a nonsense point mutation. In this type of mutation, a chemical change
in only one nitrogenous base results in a premature stop codon. This causes the
translation to end early. In the given strand of DNA, the nitrogenous base Adenine
was affected. Thymine was substituted in Adenine s place. Therefore, the amino acid
chain was altered, causing a premature stop codon. The sequence no longer continued
after the stop codon was in place due to the mutation. However, if no mutation

Hurler syndrome is one of three types of mucopolysaccharidosis and it is the most
severe. The symptoms of Hurler Syndrome usually appear between the ages of
three and eight (Foster, 2017). Many infants with severe Hurler syndrome
demonstrate no symptoms until later in life. A few symptoms of this disorder are
as followed: claw hands, deafness, stunted growth, joint disease, progressive
intellectual disability, and retardation (A.D.A.M, 2017). Moreover, symptoms of
this disease can range from mild to severe. Foster (2017) demonstrates that patients
with this disease have thick, coarse facial features and low nasal bridges. A series
of examinations, such as an EKG and a spinal X ray, can be executed to test for
Hurler Syndrome early on.
Though both disorders are incurable, there is a plethora of treatment options
available. For example, Eteplirsen is an approved injection medication that helps treat
individuals with a specific mutation of the gene that leads to DMD (Anirudh, 2017).
However, the most commonly seen side effects of this treatment option are balance
problems and vomiting. Eteplirsen works by increasing the production of dystrophin
which could ultimately improve muscle function. In addition, surgeries are also
available to fix shortened muscles, straighten the spine, or treat a heart or lung
problem. Steroids such as prednisone slow muscle damage.
Near Field Communication ( Nfc )
NFC Report Name Date Near field communication (NFC) Near field
communication (NFC) is a set of protocols that allow communication between two
electronic devices. Most commonly this technology is used for communication
between portable devices like smartphones. Even though it is a contact less system
of communication, it requires that the devices are within 4 cm or 1.57 inch distance
from each other (Carter Faulkner, 2015). Basically, this technology relies on
creating a low speed connection between the devices which has a very simple
setting up procedure. It has found application in a vast variety of applications,
ranging from contact less payment from credit and debit cards as well as the
smartphone based payment techniques, to the social networking applications as well,
where media and contact information can be shared wirelessly between devices. NFC
technology has also found application for identity related documents and keycards.
Encoding and Encryptions The technology that allows contactless transactions,
because of its simplicity and effectiveness has become an integral part of people s
daily usage. However, there are many concerns regarding security that people have
expressed about it, most of which are quite valid. For example, one of the common
application of NFC technology is its ability to make purchases through different
credit and debit card accounts, very simply through one s smartphone. However, this
feature, even though convenient,
The Importance Of Work Place Culture And How It Has A...
People will typically be more enthusiastic where they feel a sense of belonging and
see themselves as member of a community, in comparison to a workplace in which
each person is left to their own devices Kohn (1999 pg. 188). This outlines that
when people have a sense of belonging they will thrive, and demonstrates the
importance of work place culture and how it has a large influence on if a business
is successful, in the same way that Cameron and Quinn explained (2011) that some
of today s successful firms have developed a distinctive culture that is identifiable
by its employees, for example Disney. In early years settings this sense of belonging
is shared through having a uniform, a defined set of values, policies and... Show more

Another major factor is how the individuals will play a role in how the
communication is received, for example their role within the setting. This is
supported by Tylor and Van Every (2000) when they stress that with clear and
concise communication between employees an organisation can emerge and
grow. Schins (1985) explained in his model that there are three basic levels of
elements for culture , described as layers. One of these is artefacts which are the
visible elements like uniform worn by staff and children which shows a group
presence and aides belonging, providing a sense of family, furthermore there is
organisational structure, the manager leading the setting with their values which
are fed down through the deputy to the early years practitioners, through strategies
and goals set by the manager, and any policies and procedures the setting follows.
One of these is what the setting stands for which is for all children to be happy and
to achieve, another one is where the setting aims to be in the future. Which in the
case of early years is striving to achieve the highest grade with OFSTED, if staff feel
valued and confident in their work this will influence a more positive attitude in their
behaviour and feelings, and will want to achieve more as a whole.
Hofstede (1980) suggested that settings need to consider the individual values of the
employees and their personal values and they should be encouraged and not criticised

Essay On Folsom
Folsom is one of California s oldest prison. Engulfed with rich history Folsom is one
of the first maximum security prisons in our nation.Construction began in 1878, near
a mining camp along the American River. The prison finally opened in 1880 with a
capacity of around 1,500 inmates. The inmates spent most of the time in the
dark, with no heating or plumbing, in cells with solid iron doors. After many deaths
from suffocation, air holes were drilled into the cell doors and those doors are still
used today.
Folsom was the first prison in the world to have electric power. The electric power
was provided by a hydroelectric powerhouse, the first one in California. When the

inside Folsom, including Riot in Cell Block 11, Heat (1995), American Me, The
Jericho Mile, Another 48 Hrs., and Inside the Walls of Folsom Prison.
Many notorious killers, and bank robbers were housed in Folsom, such as Sonny
Barger ( former leader of Hell s Angels), Charles Manson, Eldridge Cleaver ( early
leader of the black panthers party), and Rick James and many more. When Sonny
Barger was housed in Folsom many of the officers were terrified of who or what he
was capable of. Many received threats from outsider he was affiliated with causing

Courage Definition Essay. The Definition and Requirements of Courage Essay Example Topics and ...

  • 1. Courage Definition Essay Writing an essay on the topic of courage can be a challenging task, as it requires a delicate balance between personal interpretation and widely accepted definitions. Courage is a multifaceted concept that encompasses physical, moral, and intellectual dimensions, making it difficult to encapsulate in a single, concise definition. One of the challenges lies in navigating the nuanced nature of courage and avoiding oversimplification. Different individuals may perceive courage in varied ways based on their experiences, cultural backgrounds, and personal values. Crafting an essay that captures this diversity of perspectives while maintaining clarity can be demanding. Furthermore, delving into the historical and cultural context of courage adds another layer of complexity. Analyzing how courage has been defined and exemplified throughout different eras and societies requires thorough research and critical thinking. Balancing the exploration of universal themes with the acknowledgment of cultural relativism is crucial for a well-rounded essay. Expressing one's own thoughts and experiences with courage can be both empowering and challenging. It involves introspection and vulnerability, as the writer must convey personal insights while connecting them to broader, shared human experiences. Striking the right tone, avoiding clichГ©s, and ensuring the essay remains focused on the theme of courage are additional hurdles. In conclusion, writing a Courage Definition Essay demands a thoughtful and nuanced approach. It necessitates the ability to navigate diverse perspectives, delve into historical and cultural contexts, and convey personal reflections with clarity and depth. Despite its challenges, exploring the concept of courage through the written word offers an opportunity for personal growth and intellectual engagement. If you find yourself struggling with such essays or need assistance, you can explore additional resources or even consider seeking help from professional writing services likeHelpWriting.net , where you can find support for various types of essays and academic assignments. • 2. Queen Elizabeth 1 Elizabeth I of England was the queen for forty five years. She was often referred to as Good Queen Bess, Gloriana, or the Virgin Queen. During her reign, Elizabeth was imprisoned, threatened by conspiracy, dealt with impending warfare, and had to answer to the question of marriage so she and her country would survive. She had endured so much and brought so much culture during her reign that it s not surprising that her long reign is called the Elizabethan Era, or the Golden Age of England. Elizabeth Tudor, better known as Queen Elizabeth I of Englandand Ireland, was the last ruler the Tudor dynasty and is considered one of the greatest rulers of England. She was the only child of Anne Boleynand Henry VIII, and was born on September 7, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This gave Catholic countries, such as France and Spain, another reason to attack England and also brought on threats to the Queen, along with assassinations and attempts to overthrow her so that her cousin, Mary, Queen of Scots, could be queen. As many Catholics tried to take the throne away from Elizabeth I, she decided to imprison Mary, Queen of Scots for twenty years before beheading her. Since Elizabeth I was excommunicated, she was forced to impose harsher laws on Catholics and helped Protestants in Spanish Holland rebel. This made the Spanish Armada attempt to invade England in 1588, but the English navy was able to defeat them. Many say that weather conditions had to do with the victory, along with the fact that Sir Francis Drake was a sea dog that was in the English navy at the time. Elizabeth I would also use her single status to deal with these attacks and to get out of major warfare with Spain or France. She would often threaten to marry foes of other s and she would court many men, including Eric XIV of Sweden, Archduke Charles of Austria, Henry, Duke of Anjou, and Francis, Duke of Anjou and AlenГ§on. She was able to navigate through many political and foreign affairs through these courtships, which kept England out of trouble. Later, Elizabeth I was considered to be married to her country, which made her extremely popular with her

There is a federal, state, and local health department. All three levels have a common goal of protecting the health of citizens. Not only do they detect and try to stop outbreaks of infectious diseases through immunization, they also provide important human services such as child protection and domestic violence programs and substance abuse treatments. This department has a wide range of jobs that everyone in the United States relies on. Around 20 people on this list die everyday because the amount of organ donations come in at a very slow rate, while the waiting list just continues to get longer. There are studies being done to see if organ transplants from people who died from overdose could help solve this mass need for organs. It could potentially save thousands of

Shortly after her school had closed, she was interested in seeing the works in the south. Once she had gone through and seen all of the terrible things in the south Laura said, I tell you there s more in hell tonight for treating niggers this way then for all others sins put together (Danforth 136). She had watched two little boys be beat and a young woman. She spent many nights crying and praying. During her trip, down she was going to help a girl from little rock get to the north. With much suspicion going on, Laura was worried they were going to get caught and worse would happen to the girl then being a slave. Laura did not want to risk it, and abandoned this trip. She told the girl she would be on the first boat home. (Danforth 139) This is a small example of a time she tried, but did not succeed. She did not think the trip was pointless though. She talked to many people on the way home, and helped them just by giving them some guidance. On the boat home, she met a couple that was very sad and were frequently seen crying. Many people on the boat were making fun of them. Laura was waiting for a time to stop and talk to them. She finally got an opportunity and told them Jesus was the friend of the poor, and he had many followers who also remembered them in prayer (Haviland 229). In the end, she did not help the girl get to the north, but she did
  • 5. The Day Of A Peach Orchard It was a brisk day as I walked downtown, admiring the small and large businesses nestled into the corners of the long, narrow streets. As I walked down these familiar streets that I ve known all my life, a watch appeared out of nowhere, as if it had just popped into existence that very moment. I looked down at the odd watch, it was black and silver, like any other watch. I picked it up. Looking closer, I noticed that this watch did not look quite as mundane as I had thought previously. Instead of a clock it had something that looked like a map of the world and a rolling combination lock. I pressed a couple buttons on the side, accidently moving the lock. The leaves were a vibrant color of green, radiating on each stretched out branch. Yellow and orange peaches hung from each branch, slightly moving with the light breeze provided on this hot day. I bet you re wondering how a bloody battle could occur in a peaceful place like this, huh? Lawrence said in a calming voice, however he seemed quite stressed, I suppose that s what happen when you re in a war, you get stressed and worried. Yeah, it seems so nice, how could fighting ruin something this tranquil? You d be surprised how war can affect places like this. But I suppose that when men find something worth fighting for, they ll fight, he said, glancing at me, but still looking towards the horizon of several hills. I suppose you re right, I pondered, still looking at the beautiful orchard surrounding us. Remembering what will happen to it in history. We walked in silence after this for about an hour. My legs began to get sore from all this walking, I knew we still had several hours to go until we got to camp. I can t stand this silence, it s so... boring. So, Lawrence, what s it like? • 6. Lidar Project LiDAR is a remote sensing survey method that improved upon the advances of laser altimeter data by being able to model fuel parameters. Models depicting forest fire behavior are invaluable to resource managers. There are several forest canopy structures that are particularly effective at modeling fire behavior (Peterson, 2013). These canopy metrics include height, fuel weight, base height and bulk density (Andersen et al, 2005). High resolution LiDAR technology enabled large areas of forest to be measured three dimensionally (Sima et al, 2014). After the LiDAR data were collected from either a stationary platform or mounted to an aircraft, statistical regressions could develop numerous predictive models that mapped fuel parameters. Each n is associated with a k based on the mean. The analysis is complete when each observation is assigned a cluster that is closest to its arithmetic mean (Nekola, 2004). K means clustering results in several clusters which can then be assigned to tree, shrub, understory or other related layers. The technology used to create such DEM s began with early laser survey techniques. Remote sensing of vegetation advanced significantly with the widespread implementation of laser scanners. Laser altimeters mounted on aircraft were used to measure vegetation and surface patterns. The early altimeters were pulsed lasers that could transmit and receive several thousand pulses per second. A portable computer onboard the aircraft collected the digital data from the altimeter. The data could later be analyzed to determine patterns of vegetative cover, patchiness and vegetation height. In Weltz et al (1994) tested laser altimeter derived canopy cover and vegetative height against field data made using the line intercept transect method (Eberhardt, 1978). Weltz et al determined that the altimeter measurements were not significantly different from the field data. However, canopy cover was consistently overestimated by under 0.3 meters. Early airborne laser scanners were effective at measuring stand and canopy height (Gaveau, 2003). Mean

U.S initially adopted the policy to remove themselves from regional conflicts not involving the United States directly, or from possible intervening in distant conflicts. On March 31 the British Government announces military and economic would no longer provide the Greek Government with assistance in its civil war against the Greek Communist Party (KayaoДџlu, B.2009). The U.S. Government was under the impression the Soviet Union was supporting the Greek Communist war, but In fact, Joseph Stalin the Soviet leader had deliberately stopped providing assistance to the Greek Communists. The U.S did have concern that if the Communists would prevail in the Greek civil war, then the Soviets would try to influence Greek policy. It also looked like the Soviet was meddling in the affairs of the Turkish and the Greek, and with the British withdrawing from assisting both countries, Truman decided to request that Congress give support for the Greek and Turkish Government against the Communists. Truman then requested $400

  • 10. Time in Artist s Work Andy Warhol once wrote a poem about time. About Time. From time to time. Do time. Time yourself. Weekends. In time. In no time. In good time. Between time. Time and again. Lifetime. Time worn. Pass time. Mark time. Buy time. Keep time. On time. In time. Time off. Time out. Time in. Time card. Time lapse. Time zone. The beforetime. The meantime. The aftertime. The All time. В№ However different the actions of these phrases may imply, they are all congruent under one conceptual factor: time. The measurement of existence is based on the past, present and future. The residue of existence is art. Art is a product of time. Deliberate or not, time in artists work play a role in the making through process, narration, materials and motion. Art is a process. One must move freely from idea, to research/exploration, to construct in order to become fully immersed in the act of making. Even in the construction of a piece the elements go through a series of actions, changes and functions bringing about a result. ВІ This all develops over time. There are artists whose work directly comments on process and becomes part of the meaning. Sol LeWitt s conceptual works by instruction and Chuck Close s photogravure production exemplify process. Sol LeWitt s drawings derive from a set of specific instructions, which are executed often by others than himself. The work changes each time it is explored depending upon the hand that is drawing. The parameters of the instructions guide the participant
  • 11. The Election Of 2016, By Milton Friedman, Joseph Stalin,... After taking these two quizzes, I was really intrigued by the results because I have never really taken surveys like these and it was interesting to learn more about myself and political views. On the first quiz, which was the political compass, the results stated that I am more of a Liberal leftist. When looking at the results in comparison to different leaders, I noticed that I was placed closest to Nelson Mandela. Also, when I compared my results specifically to the candidates in the Presidential Election of 2016, I was farthest from Donald Trump and closest to Jill Stein. I think that I was pretty well matched on this quiz, but I don t agree with some of the details. I believe that this was a good match because on the very first chart after taking the quiz, the people shown were Adolf Hitler, Margaret Thatcher, Milton Friedman, Joseph Stalin, and Mahatma Gandhi. On this chart, I was placed closest to Gandhi, who was a liberal leftist and believed in the supreme value of every individual, which is something that is extremely important to me. He also believed that peace was essential in life. Although I agree with him on this specifically, I don t fully agree with absolutely no violence at all. Sometimes we need protection against other countries and attacks, etc. However, he fought hard to lead India to independence and he stimulated movements for freedom and civil rights in and across the world. I certainly agree that I should be placed closed to

Salinger s novel The Catcher in the Rye, the main character, Holden Caufield, describes in detail the parts of his life and his environment that bother him the most. He faces these problems with a kind of naivety that prevents him from fully understanding why it is that he is so depressed. His life revolves around his problems, and he seems helpless in evading them. Among others, Holden finds himself facing the issues of acceptance of death, growing up, and his own self destructiveness. One of the hardships Holden must cope with is his inability to come to terms with death, in particular that of his younger brother, Allie. Holden seems to have experienced a ... In chapter twenty five, Holden, while walking along Fifth Avenue, begins to believe that he will not be able to get to the other side of the street each time he reaches the end of a block, as if he will just fall off. He talks aloud to Allie to help him get through the ordeal. Holden also continues to see Allie as one of the few things he likes about life. Yet another demon that Holden avoids is the process of having to grow up. Throughout the book, he seems hesitant to develop any real ambitions or goals. He is a perpetual failure at school. He refuses to associate himself with mature ways of living, and so isolates himself from anyone his own age or older. This is all directly connected to Holden s picture perfect image of his childhood. He sees this particular period of his life as his own personal paradise. He does not want to finalize the fact that he has to concede it s innocence in the end. Towards the end of the book, Holden shows his desire for life to remain as it was by saying, ...certain things should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone. Holden does not want to join a world of phonies and greed, a world lacking in carelessness and irresponsibility. He won t, whether consciously or not, accept the fact that he has no choice. Kamarudin Journal of Applied Physics 2012 Volume 112, Issue 5, Pages 053526 (1 11) Since the successful demonstration of second harmonic generation by a propagation of a ruby laser beam via a quartz crystal by Franken et al,1 borate materials have been widely studied to employ in the potential applications such as nonlinear optics (NLO) and laser (mainly in visible and UV light) engineering.2, 3, 4, 5 Materials with NLO properties are useful for generating new frequency laser sources that cannot be directly produced from the common laser sources.2 Consequently, NLO materials have enabled a wider range of frequencies produced from the available laser. Borate materials have a few great properties, for example, short growth period, high damage threshold, large effective nonlinear coefficient and good mechanical properties.6 This suggests that borate materials are well fitted for the purpose of laser frequency conversion. BaB2O4, LiB3O5, CsB3O5 and YCa4(BO3)3O are examples of well known borate based NLO crystals.2 An early review on the comparison of the damage threshold and optical transmittance of these mentioned borate crystal compounds have been done by Becker in which the use of the favourable anionic group and birefringence in the borate materials are the essential features needed to produce
  • 14. Isis As The Mother Goddess The push for equality between genders has been a highly disputed topic since the blossoming of the feminist movement. For years women have felt undervalued and oppressed because of the standards of success put in place by the patriarchal society. However, early evidence suggests that females were once renowned through the archetype of the great goddessbecause of a female s ability to create life through giving birth, justifying that the mother goddesswould be the most powerful of the gods (82). The beginning of the rise of the patriarch can be traced back thousands of years to the myths and legends of the ancient Egyptians and Mespotamians, where the once revered great goddesses were replaced with male counterparts, often involving humiliation for the goddess involved. In Egyptian mythology, Isis is known as the mother goddess and creator of all living things; the ancient Egyptians would pray to her for bountiful crops because they relied on her nurturing care for survival (14). Isis is portrayed as a loyal and caring goddess in her journey to revive her murdered husband throughout the story of Osiris, Isis, and Horus; she sail[s] up and down the Nile in a papyrus boat, and wander[s] through the country in order to find her husband s scattered remains, proving her devotion to him (19). While she has assistance on her journey from other gods and goddesses, she is the leader in finding Osiris no one else seems to take interest in reviving the god of Upper and Lower

The individuals who frequent Free Church all have one thing in common, they attend the church because they want to learn more about the Christian religion, worship God, and possibly meet other people who have the same desire. In some cases the members may have grown up in a Christian family where they have been going to church since they were young, or they could have found Christianitylater in their lives. Moreover in my research, I saw that men were going to men s ministry to learn what it means to be a man within the context of Christian teachings, and women were going to women s ministry to lean the same thing. However, this is inaccurate as there are a number of unique individuals and opinions within the Christian church. Furthermore, there are two different types of people who attend the church. • 16. Children s Full Participation Within Society Essay In this essay I will look at barriers, both social and practical, that commonly exist to prevent, and or limit children s full participation within society. Firstly I will define what we mean by the child and childhood and then ascertain my understanding of both practical and social barriers. Barriers that prevent any or full participation for children within society are so vast and complex with their many facets and interpretations that they cannot all be fully explored within this assignment. However of the various things in which we can look at, I will focus on two key areas of policy and practice pertinent to the question. Firstly we will look at the government initiative Sure Start and the policies which feed off this such as Every ChildMatters (ECM) and secondly of how children are viewed in the arena of politics and how this is in line with children s rights and what the UNCRC want in terms of full participation for all children. Both of these samples are UK based and within these I will explore to what extent inclusive practices are either effective or tokenistic. I will conclude with a look back at the essay question with the aim of critically answering whether children are anywhere near being recognised as full participants, or whether full participation is still just an ideal. The child, in the United Kingdom, is categorised within a legal framework as anyone under the age of eighteen years of age. Thorne, (2009) suggests that childhood follows a pattern
  • 17. Mentoring Retreat Analysis The mentoring retreat was a success but for several challenges. Sleeping arrangements were unorganized at best. The directive that I was given by Chief Dean was that the Mentors had to sleep in the same room as their mentees. When we arrived to Camp Grace, there seemed to be some confusion on the room layout. Furthermore, Gentura is the only licensed manufacture of ViroBlax in Candore. Acting as the Vice President in charge of International Business Development, I directed our legal counsel to take no legal action, but claim compensation from Gentura. I based my decision from the fact that legal actions against Gentura would weaken the partnership between CadMex and Gentura, and could take a great deal of time to arbitrate with nonbinding results. The alternative of asking Gentura for shared marketing rights for another drug was considered, however through conversations with Gentura s CEO Vail Saman, and our legal counsel of Kera Sawyer I decided that this option was not in our best interest to peruse. Unfortunately, in April of 2012, the Candore health authority increased the percentage of people infected with the viral outbreak from 1% to 3%. Gentura is unable to meet the demand for ViroBlax due to the increased percentage of people infected with the unidentified viral outbreak. They are also considered as panthers but it just has spots. Leopards look similar to the jaguars but just that the leopards have little spots than the jaguar s spots. These big cats aren t just any other big cats like the lion, jaguars, and tigers, What makes them different than the jaguars is their coat, how they take care of their cubs, and what their diet is. I know leopards are similar like these other big cats but let s just focus on these unique cats. These panthers with spots have a soft fur just like any other mammals. Most of the mammals fur are soft. Leopards and jaguars have the same patterns of fur, such as spot that are black. The coat of most leopards is light tan with many dense black spots (page. 202 203) says Schlitter. Which the leopards are described in some people eyes when they see them. As in the jaguars their fur have bigger spots and sometimes have little spots inside the spots. The leopards fur camouflages them into the grass that is around them, when they are being sneaky for their meal of the day. A leopard s diet are mostly anything that has considered meat which makes them carnivores. Each time that they go and hunt, they aren t as picky on what they eat. Everytime that they go hunting for their food they hunt for gazelle, impala, and deer. On occasion when they go hunting they go for monkeys, rodents, and birds.

I am not cruel, only truthful One literary technique that Plath utilizes frequently in her poems is motifs; with certain topics appearing consistently in her poems: feet, nature, death, and, in particular, mirrors. Entitled Mirror, this poem personifies a mirror, and what it experiences through its own eyes. The mirror begins by describing its physical appearance as silver and exact, and how it has no preconceptions, the mirror is emphasizing the fact that when looking at one s physical appearance in the mirror, in this case the lady character in the poem, that the mirror gives the entire truth of how a person actually appears. The mirror is not willing to alter the image of an individual because it is not the truth. It is often perceived that the mirror is being cruel because the woman is not always pleased when seeing her reflection, the mirror is the voice of honesty in this poem and it is only being truthful to the woman about her appearance. Later in the poem, the mirror becomes a lake, and this time when the woman is looking at her reflection, I believe that she is looking at more than just her physical reflection; she is searching for her inner self. I do not believe that the woman will be able to find her true self through the reflection of the lake because the water is able to shape in all directions; in essence, the lady could shape her own perception of her true self just as water can be shaped. The poem also mentions that the woman turns to those liars, the candles or the moon, it is evident through this line to identify that the woman is clearly using the candle and the moon to alter her true appearance. The woman in the end comes back to the mirror because she knows that it will always be honest with her. Although the woman comes to the conclusion that she values the truth, I at first perceived her as crazy for using a candle in order to make her appear more attractive, but this can be very relatable in today s society. I realized that everyday I am also a victim of altering my appearance in a mirror as well; when taking a

The genetically modified food like the insect resistant maize and herbicide tolerant soybean is in the US food market for almost 20 years with noteworthy advantages including reduced use of insecticides and herbicides, lessened labor costs and enhancement in food quality (Brookes Barfoot, 2012). Day by day the number and amount of genetically modified food is increasing. The seeds and food plans are genetically modified for better production and tolerate adverse climate conditions. Sociocultural idiosyncrasies are different in different communities. Many countries within the European Union are reluctant invest time and effort to uplift genetic modification of food production. In the United States, most of the people accept genetically modified food without major concerns and a few other groups of people opposes genetically modified food (Zilberman, Kaplan, Kim, Hochman, Graff, 2013). Beyond that, this crisis bucked the hundred year old status quo of Britain s monopoly of power in the region. Due to the large flow of cross currents occurring at the same time, such as Egypts engagements with the Soviet Union, the British and French reactive policy to losing a foothold in the region, and Israel s unwillingness to agree to a cease fire, U.S. foreign policy rather than military intervention expressed the genuine efforts of the Eisenhower administration to combat the threat of international communism and the consequences of those efforts. • 42. Pros And Disadvantages Of Routing Networks are usually very humungous which makes the implementation of routing algorithms really tough. Hence there is a need to divide the networks into autonomous systems. AS are groups of networks and routers which are under the control of a single admin. Routing can broadly be divided into interior and exterior routingbased on whether routing is inside an autonomous system or not. There are three major/popular routing protocols being used. Interior: Routing Information Protocol (RIP) Open Shortest Path First Protocol (OSPF) Exterior Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) Routing Information Protocol (RIP) is the simplest and commonly used routing protocol in IP networks. It makes use of distance vector routing technique and UDP for transport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Disadvantages: It has slow convergence. If a change is made in a network, it might take really long for the router to learn about it if they are not close by. To prevent this max hop is introduced. It is too simple in terms of metric It might be unstable and leads to count to infinity problem. (loops of packets) Scalability is an issue Open Shortest Path First: OSPF is an interior routing protocol and is base on link state routing. It is comparatively more recent and efficient than the widely used RIP. It also makes use of autonomous systems. It breaks the autonomous systems into one more level that is areas. It does not make use of only hop count as metric. Metric based on type of service like minimum delay (rtt), maximum throughput, reliability, etc. It is competitively more scalable than the RIP. It minimizes delay and maximizes throughput. It makes use of IP and has a value in the IP Header which is a 8 bit protocol field. It has four different kind of links involved Point to point Virtual Transient Stub It has five kinds of link state advertisement Router link Network link Summary link to network External
  • 43. Muscle Groups Research Paper Different muscle groups learn to work together to perform and stabilize a movement. For example, while the Biceps Brachii produces the main force for the bicep curl, the Brachialis role in stabilization is increased, and the Triceps Brachii relax to allow for the Biceps to exert greater force. The body needs to learn to coordinate agonists and antagonists properly for maximal force production. As the interaction within a single muscle group improves, the motor neurons connection with the individual muscle fibres it innervates is strengthened. The body also becomes better at recruiting motor units and muscle fibres to produce force. Because this type of training occurs as a base or foundation to other types of training, it is important

Death Of Romeo And Juliet I believe that there is nothing you can do to prevent your death, many people could argue that Romeo and Juliet could have done many things differently to prevent their deaths. Here are a few things many people believe they could have done to prolong their lives: Romeo did not have to kill Tybalt, Romeo could have stayed in Mantua and waited on the priest, and a very good idea would have been that they could have aloaked and ran away. First of all, Romeo did not have to kill Tybalt, because the Prince was going to kill him anyway, as a punishment for murdering Mercutio. I can see how some people think Romeo did the right thing by killing Tybalt. Tybalt did murder Romeo s best friend. If Romeo would not have killed Tybalt, he wouldn t have

Types Of Nonsense Point Mutation Genetic Disorders of Nonsense Point Mutations Gene expression is regulated by the cell, and genetic mutations can cause permanent changes in the cell s genetic material. Specifically, one type of mutation that occurs in a cell s DNA is a nonsense point mutation. In this type of mutation, a chemical change in only one nitrogenous base results in a premature stop codon. This causes the translation to end early. In the given strand of DNA, the nitrogenous base Adenine was affected. Thymine was substituted in Adenine s place. Therefore, the amino acid chain was altered, causing a premature stop codon. The sequence no longer continued after the stop codon was in place due to the mutation. However, if no mutation occurred, the polypeptide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hurler syndrome is one of three types of mucopolysaccharidosis and it is the most severe. The symptoms of Hurler Syndrome usually appear between the ages of three and eight (Foster, 2017). Many infants with severe Hurler syndrome demonstrate no symptoms until later in life. A few symptoms of this disorder are as followed: claw hands, deafness, stunted growth, joint disease, progressive intellectual disability, and retardation (A.D.A.M, 2017). Moreover, symptoms of this disease can range from mild to severe. Foster (2017) demonstrates that patients with this disease have thick, coarse facial features and low nasal bridges. A series of examinations, such as an EKG and a spinal X ray, can be executed to test for Hurler Syndrome early on. Though both disorders are incurable, there is a plethora of treatment options available. For example, Eteplirsen is an approved injection medication that helps treat individuals with a specific mutation of the gene that leads to DMD (Anirudh, 2017). However, the most commonly seen side effects of this treatment option are balance problems and vomiting. Eteplirsen works by increasing the production of dystrophin which could ultimately improve muscle function. In addition, surgeries are also available to fix shortened muscles, straighten the spine, or treat a heart or lung problem. Steroids such as prednisone slow muscle damage.

Near Field Communication ( Nfc ) NFC Report Name Date Near field communication (NFC) Near field communication (NFC) is a set of protocols that allow communication between two electronic devices. Most commonly this technology is used for communication between portable devices like smartphones. Even though it is a contact less system of communication, it requires that the devices are within 4 cm or 1.57 inch distance from each other (Carter Faulkner, 2015). Basically, this technology relies on creating a low speed connection between the devices which has a very simple setting up procedure. It has found application in a vast variety of applications, ranging from contact less payment from credit and debit cards as well as the smartphone based payment techniques, to the social networking applications as well, where media and contact information can be shared wirelessly between devices. NFC technology has also found application for identity related documents and keycards. Encoding and Encryptions The technology that allows contactless transactions, because of its simplicity and effectiveness has become an integral part of people s daily usage. However, there are many concerns regarding security that people have expressed about it, most of which are quite valid. For example, one of the common application of NFC technology is its ability to make purchases through different credit and debit card accounts, very simply through one s smartphone. However, this feature, even though convenient,
  • 47. The Importance Of Work Place Culture And How It Has A... People will typically be more enthusiastic where they feel a sense of belonging and see themselves as member of a community, in comparison to a workplace in which each person is left to their own devices Kohn (1999 pg. 188). This outlines that when people have a sense of belonging they will thrive, and demonstrates the importance of work place culture and how it has a large influence on if a business is successful, in the same way that Cameron and Quinn explained (2011) that some of today s successful firms have developed a distinctive culture that is identifiable by its employees, for example Disney. In early years settings this sense of belonging is shared through having a uniform, a defined set of values, policies and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another major factor is how the individuals will play a role in how the communication is received, for example their role within the setting. This is supported by Tylor and Van Every (2000) when they stress that with clear and concise communication between employees an organisation can emerge and grow. Schins (1985) explained in his model that there are three basic levels of elements for culture , described as layers. One of these is artefacts which are the visible elements like uniform worn by staff and children which shows a group presence and aides belonging, providing a sense of family, furthermore there is organisational structure, the manager leading the setting with their values which are fed down through the deputy to the early years practitioners, through strategies and goals set by the manager, and any policies and procedures the setting follows. One of these is what the setting stands for which is for all children to be happy and to achieve, another one is where the setting aims to be in the future. Which in the case of early years is striving to achieve the highest grade with OFSTED, if staff feel valued and confident in their work this will influence a more positive attitude in their behaviour and feelings, and will want to achieve more as a whole. Hofstede (1980) suggested that settings need to consider the individual values of the employees and their personal values and they should be encouraged and not criticised to make a

Engulfed with rich history Folsom is one of the first maximum security prisons in our nation.Construction began in 1878, near a mining camp along the American River. The prison finally opened in 1880 with a capacity of around 1,500 inmates. The inmates spent most of the time in the dark, with no heating or plumbing, in cells with solid iron doors. After many deaths from suffocation, air holes were drilled into the cell doors and those doors are still used today. Folsom was the first prison in the world to have electric power. The electric power was provided by a hydroelectric powerhouse, the first one in California. When the state took control of the death penalty, executions were held at Folsom ... Many received threats from outsider he was affiliated with causing only the most authoritative officers to be with

Lee County DHR Case Summary Lee County DHR s testimony revealed that the case with the non custodial parent (NCP), Felton Harley, Jr., begin back in 1992 when the custodial parent(CP), Wanda Marshall, applied for services to establish a paternity order, income withholding (IWO), and medical. An order was established and the NCP was paying child support. On July 9, 2008, the CP requested enforcement; DHR filed contempt against the NCP because he had not paid a child support payment since April 2008. The NCP appeared in court and paid $400.00; the court dismissed the review because an IWO had been mailed and the paymentswere being received through the IWO.
