Millersburg Case Brief
MILLERSBURG A Millersburg area man on Tuesday denied being in possession of firearms as he
fled the scene where he was allegedly stalking a donut delivery driver.
Andrew L. Hershberger, 40, of 4607 Township Road 302, Millersburg, pleaded not guilty in
Holmes County Municipal Court to carrying a concealed weapon, menacing by stalking,
possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of improper handling of a
firearm in a motor vehicle.
If convicted, Hershberger faces up to six years in prison.
The charges stem from a Dec. 19 incident.
Millersburg Police were called that night to a reported disturbance at a gas station along state
Route 39. There, they were advised Hershberger, who had fled the gas station as they arrived, had
been following the delivery driver between his last four stops to local businesses, according to Sgt.
Matt Shaner. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hershberger not only admitted to following the deliveryman, but said he had several loaded
weapons a pistol on him, a pistol on the dashboard and a rifle in the back seat in his vehicle,
according to Shaner.
Hershberger said he thought he was compliant with Ohio s open carry law, which does not extend
to weapons in a vehicle, said Shaner.
Hershberger told the officer he had been following the deliveryman because he believed the man
was delivering either heroin or methamphetamine along his route and Hershberger indicated an
interest in intervening, said Shaner, noting police do not believe there was any substance to
Hershberger s claim.
During Hershberger s arrest, police found marijuana on him and in the car, where they also found
rolling papers, said Shaner.
Hershberger is next scheduled to appear in court for an April 13 pretrial conference. A jury trial is
scheduled for May

Values In The Great Gatsby
Character Values In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the story takes place in the
1920s. During the 1920s probation caused many people to have private parties. Many of the
characters have values that have to do with finding someone or something they need. Also some of
the characters values change by the end of the story. This can change the overall intention of the
story. The character Jay Gatsbyplays a large part in the the book. Gatsby is a wealthy man living
in West Egg. Throughout the novel it is clear that Gatsby has only one thing in life that he
values; nothing is more important to him than his long lost love, Daisy. The writer explained to
us that Gatsby bought that house so that Daisy would be right across the bay (83). He spends
most of his time throwing huge parties solely in hopes that one day his party will attract Daisy
to his home. Gatsby goes out of his way to get reconnected with Daisy after so many years, and
in this way, shows how much she means to him. As the plot reaches the climax, Gatsby takes the
blame for the death of Myrtle, in order to protect his beloved Daisy. He was plans to flee from the
law, but delays his departure from West Egg hoping to let Daisy know that he loves her. As a
result, Gatsby dies for the sake of Daisy, the only one he values in his life.... Show more content on

Daisy is the wife of a wealthy man named Tom Buchanan. In the beginning of the story Daisy
values very little and wants only to be care free. The writer uses examples such as Daisy saying I
m p paralyzed with happiness (13). With a husband of Tom s wealth Daisy never needed to work
or lift a finger in the house and spent most of her time socializing. As the story progresses, Daisy
s values shift and she begins to care about how much Gatsby loves her and worries about how she
will manage to leave her husband, his money and her child so she can spend the rest of her life with

Student Debt Pros And Cons

Democratic Party, both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders presented comprehensive plans to help
eliminate student debt, although they vary on how to deal with the cost of education and how
much the government should pay (Josuweit, 2016). Clinton created the New CollegeCompact, to
address both the current and future educational costs, her main focus on addressing existing debt
and allowing borrowers to refinance student loans at the rates allowed to students taking out new
loans, which Clinton claims would provide to relief to twenty five million borrowers (Josuweit,
2016). In addition to this, Clinton wants to reduce interest rates on new student loans which would
facilitate enrollment in IDR plans (Josuweit, 2016). On future tuition, Clinton claimed she would
provide help so that students never have to borrow to pay for tuition and other fees attending a four

Now President Elect Trump did not speak much on the issue. He has spoken out against student

Other Republican candidates followed suit with Trump; Cruz did not publicly state his opinion or
a plan, nor did his campaign site even bring up the issue (Josuweit, 2016). Out of all the
Republican candidates, it was John Kasich who has took action against the issue in meaningful,
consistent ways backed with legislation; as governor Ohio, he posed one hundred and twenty

Health Current Events Research Paper
Health Current Events An optamaligist known as Dr. Ralph Chu and Dr. Rex Hamilton have
made some ground breaking discoveries in helping to prevent fading close up vision. They have
made an amazing eye plant called the rain drop. The rain drop helps with reshaping the cornea
so it can focus better and faster. One of the most important ways it helps people with close up
vision is to be able to read better. According to Dr. Ralph Chu, this is one of the most significant
advances in apthomology in 20 years. The reason why it is so important is because it can remove
the need for reading glasses in anyone that affected by presbyopia also known as the aging eye.

cardboard, four paper towel rolls, gorilla tape, hot glue gun, and of course an EGG! First we placed
the rocks in the bowl, then glued a square foot piece of cardboard on top of the bowl, next we
glued/taped the paper towel rolls (on top of the cardboard glued to the bowl), after we cut a small

The World Intellectual Property Organization Essay
Intellectual property is an asset to an individual or a business. Even though intellectual property is
intangible, it is very important to protect it. Protection of intellectual property can be one of the
most important business decisions one can make.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (n.d.) states intellectual property refers to creations of
the mind. This can include inventions but also includes literary and artistic works, as well as
symbols, names and images used in commerce. The World Property Organization (n.d.) categorizes
intellectual property into two categories, which are industrial property and copyright. Industrial
property includes trademarks, patents for inventions, and industrial designs and geographical
indications. Copyright includes music, films, literary and artistic works (World Intellectual
Property Organization, n.d.).
The World Intellectual Property Organization (n.d.) helps one understand the importance of
protecting intellectual property. They have spelled out several reasons of this importance including
inventing new works in technology and culture, which allows progress to be made that, can be
utilized worldwide. In addition, the legal protection of intellectual property encourages the
commitment of additional resources for further modernization. Finally, promoting and protecting

American Rust In The New Geography Of Jobs Chapter Summary
1.In one paragraph, summarize the thesis and main points of chapter 1 American Rust in The New
Geography of Jobs
Chapter One of the New Geography of Jobs, titled American Rust, focuses on the fall of
manufacturing employment in the US. Although manufacturing jobs pulled America out of the
Great Depression and led to a period of stability and increased consumerism, in 1979, it stopped
being an engine of prosperity. While the fall of the manufacturing sector is often blamed on banks
and financiers, the real reasons are globalization and technological progress. Implementation of the
theory of comparative advantage led to a contraction of certain manufacturing industries in America
and led trade to take place instead. With the rise of globalization, ... Show more content on

I was surprised by the number of consequent jobs that innovation created for the local economy.
Moretti goes on to explain that the job requirements of the newly created jobs match a varying
range of qualifications, from doctors to waiters. This demonstrated to me that every type of
worker, regardless of his/her skill level, benefit from a larger presence of innovation. I was
surprised to learn the level of dependency of the entire economy on the innovation sector. This new
information deepened my prejudice against Trump s heavy emphasis on bringing manufacturing
jobs back to the US. He has been capitalizing on blue collar workers infatuation with manufacturing
and trying to revive an industry that lost a good deal of jobs to automation when instead, he could
be focusing on innovation. Innovation could lead to jobs for non college educated white men who
have been hurt the most by globalization and manufacturing

An Analysis Of I Want A Wife By Judy Brady
Robert Green Ingersoll was a former soldier and an American lawyer. I regard the rights of men
and women equal. In Love s fair realm, husband and wife are king and queen, sceptered and
crowned alike, and seated on the self same throne. One of the classic essays written by Judy
Brady is I Want a Wife . It was published in the early 1970s in one of the famous magazine s named
Ms. Magazine. The main similarities between the husbandand wife were going back to school, a
physical needs, social life, sexual needs, and liberty from the marriage. In I Want a Wife , Judy
Brady contrast aspirations of a wife with expectations of a husband s.
First of all, Judy Brady elaborates what wife has to do whenever the husband attends school. A
wife is expected to take care of the children. She does the laundry routine by collecting dirty
clothes from the hamper to fold clothes and delivered to the designated room. She makes sure
the children are properly fed whenever they are hungry. She handles and plans the whole families
Doctor s checkup day. In addition, occasionally a wife must set her profession to a side able to
fulfill her duties as a mother to her children. She s must be willing to miss work whenever there s
an emergency, especially whenever the children are sick and needan urgent care. She will take
care of them no matter what it takes. She must be willing to miss work to attend special events
from school or other places to give a moral support to her children. Overall, the

The American Psychological Association Defines Gender...
Gender
James Gadoury
January 12, 2015
Professor Cormier
English 101
The American Psychological Association defines gender identity as one s sense of oneself as male,
female, or transgender ( Definition of Terms: Sex, Gender, Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation 1).
Our culture greatly affects our gender identity, and this can be seen through how our media
displays men, women, and transgenders. The media is a reflection of the values that are held in
American culture and can be used to enact social reform, or to keep the same old values alive and
well. In Gendered Media: The Influence of Media on Views of Gender , Wood writes: ...media
insinuate their messages into our consciousness at every turn. All forms of media communicate
images of the sexes, many of which perpetuate unrealistic, stereotypical, and limiting perceptions.
(1) This illustrates just how influential the media can be in American culture. Many people
immediately internalize everything they hear from any source that they see as trustworthy. If the
media is filled with negative gender stereotypes, then Americans are at risk of internalizing negative
gender roles. In the same journal, Woods also explains the three main ways that media influences
gender identity:
Three themes describe how media represent gender. First, women are underrepresented which
falsely implies that men are the cultural standard and women are unimportant or invisible. Second,
men and women are portrayed in stereotypical

How Causation Is A Relation Between Events Or States Of...
1.(a) In Chisholm s paper, Human freedom and the self, Chisholm notes that causation is a
relation between events or states of affairs. For example, if the roof in my house cave in during
a hurricane this would be something that was caused by several other events such as the roof
being too weak, the rain pressure being too much for the roof to hold, excessive rain, etc. With
this term, Chisholm created two other narrower terms to specifically describe the different types
of causations. The first causation is transeunt which is when one event or state of affairs causes
other events or state of affairs. An example of Transeunt causation is if I threw a piece of paper
in a recycling bin my event would be recycling but the unknown event cause by this event would
be more oxygen in the world for people to breath in because that paper can be reused instead of
having to cut more trees down and cutting down our oxygen. The second type of causation would
be Immanent causation, which is when an agent (or person) causes an event or state of affairs.
An example of Immanent causation is me recycling the paper because I m the agent who
recycled the piece of paper, it wasn t done by another event. During the paper, Chisholm reflects
on two objections and takes his defense on both. The first one being simply a fact of (a) He could
have done otherwise means no more nor less than and (b) If he could have chosen to do otherwise,
he would have done otherwise. The second objective has a

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Causes
Scientists and researchers have discovered a rare genetic mutation that may be in charge of Sudden
Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), or Cot Death. This mutation is said to be a protein that is involved

The Plan B Pill
As attested by the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development in Cairo, women
have the right to control the number and timing of their pregnancies. In order to exercise this right,
women throughout the world need access to the different types of contraceptives, as well as to safe
abortion services. While most contraceptives are used as preventative measures prior to or during
intercourse, some methods can be used within a short time after unprotected intercourse or failed
use of birth control, which are usually referred to as emergency contraceptive. Within the last 30
years, a number of approaches, which seem safe and efficacious, have been developed as this
method, including the popular plan B pill. In 1999 the FDA approved the Plan B pill, which was
the first progestin only dedicated emergency contraceptive product. The plan B pill was developed
by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, in which the Women s Capital Corporation (WCC), a privately
controlled company, organized in 1997, collaborated to introduce Plan B to the U.S. and Canadian
industries, and to develop other needed reproductive health products for women. WCC s efforts to
promote and sell Plan B exemplified a contemporary public/private sector partnership in areas such
as health products for women. Initially, Plan B was only available by prescription through Planned
Parenthood clinics and other health care providers listed on the 24 hour Emergency Contraception

Abstract
This paper compares and contrasts the concepts found on John P. Kotter s, Leading Change (1996),
book and the concepts presented by John M. Ivancevich, Robert Konopske and Michael T.
Mattenson s Organizational Behavior and Management text book. Kotter emphasizes in each step
the importance of dealing with human emotions and how to better manage them when dealing with
organizational change. The biggest asset to an organization is their human resources. To an

The people that are leading the efforts are in charge of making changes that should result in a more
effective organization in terms of organizational strength. This step can be compared to Ivancevich
et al. s concepts of teams and changing attitudes.
The guiding coalition should act as a synergetic team as described by Ivancevich et al. This team
should be formed by individuals who are one hundred percent committed and dedicated towards the
goal of organizational change. They should be skilled in leadership, problem solving and emotional
roles (P. 259). The emotional role will be discussed more in depth when presenting the changing
attitudes concept. Forming a guiding coalition is an essential component for undertaking a
restructure, reengineer or to retool strategies (Kotter, 1996, P. 52).
Kotter mentioned the integrity or trust factor as a main component to altering employees negative
attitudes and motivating them towards change. The concept presented by Ivancevich et al. on
changing attitudes includes the communicator, the message and the situation factors (this analysis
will only refer to the first two factors). The communicator factor relates to employee s willingness
to change attitudes because they like and trust their manager (guiding coalition), they can even tend
to adopt attitudes and behaviors of that individual (Ivancevich et al, 2007, P.69). Within the
message factor, the guiding coalition

Medicare And The Elderly Of The United States
The quantity of Medicare eligible individuals continues to grow as the median age of the
population of the United States rises. The old Medicare system has become outdated and strained
because of the volume of individuals that are currently receiving benefits within the program. Since
the enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicarehas become the main source of
delivering healthcare insurance for the elderly of the United States. In order to meet the current
requirements of the ACA, Medicare must be reformed in order to provide the promised services for
the individuals that are currently receiving benefits and for the future survival of the program.
Medicare was established by the federal government to provide healthcare insurance initially for
the elderly and included the disabled a few years after the program s inception. As of 2013, there
were 52.3 million beneficiaries of Medicare, with an average of $11,910 spent on each individual
for healthcare, with a total annual budget of $582.9 billion (NCPSSM, 2015). Medicare is funded
through two trust fund accounts that are held by the U.S. Treasury: the Hospital Insurance (HI) and
Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) Trust Funds (Medicare.gov, 2015). These trust funds are
financed by payroll deductions, Social Security benefit taxes, premiums paid by Medicare
beneficiaries, interest from investments, and funds furnished by Congress (Medicare.gov, 2015).

Narrative Self Analysis Of Academic Decorum
Academic Decorum
Academic Decorum explained:
As a student of any kind, the key to success is to follow the aspects of academic decorum. Being
prepared for every class, engaging in class activities, and caring for your fellow students all
represent good qualities of academic decorum. When student, enter class looking like they just
woke up from a week long nap, it not only affects them, but who they are around. I have
witnessed many events when someone sees another not trying, which changes the attitude of
student who might have been excited to learn, into not wanting to even be there. The same
applies outside of campus. If a kid is interested in football, but his friends disagree and spent all
their time playing video games, that kid will gradually turn away from sports and follow who he
is surrounded by. Not only will the student be affected now, but it will change the way he acts in
the future. When someone always sees others not putting in any effort in school, he will
incrementally follow his peers and get in the habit of not trying. If a student is always engaged
and willing to do what it takes to succeed, being an academic decorum, it will have a very positive
effect in their future.
Narrative Self Analysis: When I attend school, I tend to be relatively quiet. I will contribute to class
discussions and other group activities, but I m not one to distract others from the academic
decorum environment. Following the rules of academic decorum include turning papers in

Essay about Social Phobia or Just Shyness
Social Phobia or Just Shyness
As pharmaceutical companies began advertising on television several years ago, many
prescription drug advertisements flooded the airwaves. One such drug was for the treatment of
social anxiety disorder, also called social phobia. In investigating the causes, symptoms, and
treatment of social anxiety disorder, I found that while drug companies and some researchers
have hailed the unveiling of a drug for social anxiety as an important step, others feel that the
disorder is poorly defined and its prevalence is exaggerated. Therefore, the following questions
emerged: how did the diagnostic category of social anxiety disorder come about? How much of
the disorder is rooted in cultural views of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The disorder typically begins in childhood, and the National Institute of Mental Health estimates
that 3.7 percent of 18 to 54 year olds in the United States have social anxiety disorder, with
women diagnosed twice as often as men (1). Although researchers are not completely sure of the
biological basis of social anxiety, some believe that its basis may lie in the amygdala, a small
portion of the brain that controls fear response. NIMH scientists have also found a possible genetic
component: through research on mice, they have found a gene that relates to fearfulness (1).
Additionally, hormones may play a role, specifically fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone
levels in women (4). Environment may also be important, as people with social anxiety may learn
the behavior from watching and patterning those around them (1). Treatment may include the use of
medications such as selective seretonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), monamine oxidase inhibitors
(MAOIs) and beta blockers specifically for performance phobias. Individuals may also benefit from
behavioral therapy, which involves gradual exposure to feared situations (1).
However, some believe that the category of social phobia or social anxiety is not so clear cut. For
example, the diagnosis of social anxiety can be difficult because of its co occurrence with

In The Bissula Analysis
In his pioneering work, The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Edward Gibbon
writes that the poetical fame of Ausonius condemns the taste of his age. Indeed, Ausonius s work
may seem uncomplicated on the surface: he borrows heavily from previous literature and uses
straightforward syntax. However, his work contains depth beyond its ostensible simplicity: it
blends genres and uses consistent themes as narrative foci to guide the reader. In two of his most
prominent poems, liquid (as water and drink) is the key interpretive control: In the Bissula, alcohol
provides wisdom that counters the confining seriousness of sobriety, while in the Moselle the river
provides calm comfort that contrasts with the hectic unnatural world. Throughout both poems,
Ausonius consistently uses liquid to contrast the serenity and clarity provided by water and drink
with the chaos of the dry world. In the Bissula, alcohol plays a key role as the interpretive control.
Ausonius addresses the reader directly, proclaiming that his poems are unserious. He writes that I
follow Thymele (4), classifying his work as relaxing entertainment more than serious literature.
Indeed, he requests that the reader drink before you read (6) in order to best understand the poem.
While alcohol is typically associated with confusion and dulled wit, Ausonius claims that the drunk
reader will get wise to me (8). With this subversion of expectations, Ausonius proclaims drink as a
tool to achieve

perspective of the insider is legitimate and valuable kind of anthropology , Turner states.7 The
Western approach to study shamanismonly focuses on the mechanics of the process and misses a
variety of essential details that can significantly contribute to the research. Most often the teaching
of anthropology revolves around practicality and materialism. Turner refers to some anthropologists
who participated in shamanic rituals, but not fully. For instance, Clifford Geertz believes that the
role of researchers should be in listening and interacting with another culture, but at a certain
distance.8 This is the method of many researchers, but it leads to the distorted interpretation of
rituals and spirit events because it does not capture the idea and essence of the experience.... Show

Analysis Of A Blooming Filmmaker
In the well known musical Rent, that is set in the 1990s, the story follows a group of penurious
and artistic New Yorkers and how they live their lives throughout a whole year. Mark, a

love through the harsh reality of being HIV positive, while still being so young and the successful
Joanne seeks faithfulness through her younger, wilder girlfriend Maureen. Throughout the show

Effect of the Police on the Prison Population Essays
Effect of the Police on the Prison Population
Because of the increase in crime in America, the public has demanded an increase in the amount of
protection received from police. This increase in police protection has increased the incarceration
level by numerous amounts within the last ten years. The number of inmates incarcerated in
America is a direct cause of the policing that is going on in the streets of American cities. The
method of policing has a tremendous impact on the outcome of the situation, meaning the type of
policing determines the amount of arrests mad and the amount of inmates incarcerated. The
historical pattern of prison sentencing has always shown that the offenders almost always served a
much shorter sentence than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Experiments done on the effectiveness of police during the 1970 s showed that traditional methods
of policing were not effective in decreasing the amount of crime on the streets. Until the early 1970
s most states used the indeterminate sentencing method which allowed parole boards the
authority to allow offenders to be released early. The idea of indeterminate sentencing came
about in the mid 1800 s and was preferred over determinate sentencing because determinate
sentencing allowed no room for reform. Because of the dissatisfaction with indeterminate
sentencing and the pressure for longer sentencing, there was a policy implemented in the 1980 s
which made it mandatory to have a guide for the minimum amount of time served as well as new
sentencing guidelines. This method caused inmates to serve more time and because of this, there
became a problem with overcrowding. To alleviate the overcrowding, inmates were then available
to get sentence reduction because of good behavior and also with certain work programs they
could be released early by the building up of earned time credit. In 1984 the first truth in
sentencing laws were in acted. These laws required that prisoners serve a substantial portion of
their sentence. To ensure that offenders served the majority of their sentence, the violent crime
control and law enforcement act of 1994 were passed. This act allowed additional

Arthur grabbed Merlin around his neck, pulled him close, and gave him a noogie. Merlin squirmed

head. Merlinwanted to bite the prince to make him let go, but figured that might be a step too far,

Merlin turned his attention to the red, glitter covered envelope. What would the Princess Morgana
possibly have to send to him?
Not caring that he was sitting on the cold tiles of the tiny bathroom, he ripped open the envelope.
Shiny confetti fell out, silver snowflakes, evergreen trees, candy canes, and golden stars. Merlin
pulled out a delicate piece of parchment. Inside a border of holly leaves and red berries, ornate
writing proclaimed:

Post Puberty Estrogen
Estrogen
Estrogen is a steroid hormone which plays a crucial role in growth and maturation of both sexes. In
the female reproductive system, estrogen targets tissues such as mammary glands, uterus, and
ovaries. Bone formation has a significant positive relationship with estrogen from puberty to
maturation and beyond (Clark et al., 1992). Post puberty estrogen is mainly synthesized and
released from the ovaries in females. Through binding proteins or estrogen receptors (ER) found
within the nucleus, estrogen is retained and affects specific target tissues throughout the body.
Binding of estrogen to its receptor causes conformational change which in turn allows binding to
chromatin and proceed with transcription of specific target genes (Murdoch ... Show more content

1993). Soybeans have the highest amount of isoflavones across food found in a vegetarian diet;
isoflavones are considered phytoestrogens. Phyotestrogens are plant derived non steroidal
compounds with structure similar to estrogen and cause an estrogenic effect (Xu et al., 1998).
Isoflavones have shown to have an antagonistic effect on endogenous estrogen while also being
able to cause biological action (Morito et al., 2002). Soybean isoflavones have shown to have the
same affinity to receptors ERa and ERB as estrogen (Morito et al., 2001). The binding of exogenous
phytoestrogens in the form of isoflavones cause a reduction in endogenous estrogen synthesized.
Studies have shown the diminishing effects of isoflavones on estrogen. In an earlier study it was
concluded that endogenous estrogen levels were 15% lower amongst subjects with the highest
amount of soy protein intake compared to those with low soy protein intake (Wu et al., 2002).
This negative effect of soybean isoflavones on endogenous estrogen may lead to a disruption in
growth of the long bone at the epiphyseal plate. In order to find the correlation and relationship of
soybean isoflavones (a soy vegetarian diet) on pre pubertal epiphyseal plate growth on humans, a
mouse model will be used. Bone formation has been mediated by isoflavones with precipitous
mineralization of long bone at the epiphyseal growth plate (Morris et al., 2006). This study aims to
find whether isoflavones from a high soybean vegetarian diet plays a role in prepubescent human
females at the epiphyseal growth plate by using mice as models. Estrogen receptors will be
quantitatively assessed in order to find whether isoflavones have an upregulation of those receptors.
Lastly, an evaluation of the epiphyseal growth plate will be performed by hematoxylin and eosin

Why do many firms use cost plus pricing for supply contracts?
Firms use cost plus pricing in order to cover their operating costs. Cost plus means they can
increase the price to their customers with whom they have contracts when the operating costs rise.
Operating costs can rise for many reasons and cost plus pricing allows firms the flexibility to
manage operating costs. This flexibility is often needed when the price of a service or good is not
known or hard to predict in advance (Magloff, 2011).
What potential problems do you envision with cost plus pricing?

In the short term, it may be beneficial to complete the contract with Bhagat and for long term
planning, find another supplier with a more competitive price. She can use the short run cost
curves to determine her near term pricing and production requirements. The long run cost curve
can be used to determine if a new plant or new supplier is necessary to decrease operating costs.
How will a $3 increase in the price of machine parts affect Gina s own production decisions?
The three dollar increase will be added on to Rich Manufacturing s product price. In order to
lessen customer anger over increased prices, Gina can suggest an increase in the marketing budget
to minimize the price increase. She also may want to take into consider the long term plans. For
example, if in the long term they can decrease the price while increasing production (perhaps with a
new supplier); they may want to absorb the current increase in price instead of passing it on to their
customers. In the short term, money may be lost, but with successful long term planning they can
increase profits and maintain customer loyalty (by not increasing price).

Military Draft No longer Necessary Essay
Military Draft No Longer Necessary
Over forty years has passed since the United States inducted the last draftee through the Selective
Service System. The Selective Service System is an independent agency of the United States,
which gives the President the right or power to conscript men for military service. There have
been different Acts passed by congress since 1917 that require men of various ages to register for
service. Although, the name of each Act and the age requirements of the registries changed, the
Acts were all similar in nature. They all gave the President the right to call men to war when he

Since the conscription ended in 1973, the number of members has grown considerably over the
years. Men and women alike enlist for many different reasons; from educational purposes, for the
adventure, and/or other benefits the military has to offer. Many enlist just because they want to
defend and serve the country they live in and no other reason. However, all that do enlist want to
be there doing what they are doing, not because someone told them they have to. The armed forces
haven t had any problems recruiting, and are recruiting more than their goal. According to the
Department of Defense, they are recruiting anywhere from 100 to 105% of their goal each year.
Which leads to another reason we should not reinstate the draft, the draft is not needed because the
all volunteer forces have been successful in serving our country for over 40 years through both war
and peace. Melvin Laird, Secretary of Defense (1969 1973), stated in his article in the Washington

There are many differences between Bye Bye Birdie s stage musical and its movie musical, and
these changes were not made without reason. One of the most noticeable changes is the seeming

While in the stage musical, Rosie is a domineering, fierce woman with the ability to lead men
whichever way she wanted, and one who refused to back down to the objections of Albert s
nagging mother, in the movie she is dull, even during her musical numbers, and seems to go along

Paul Lynde, who played Harry MacAfee in the show, even quoted that they should have just retitled
the film Hello, Ann Margret (McQueen 1). She is the most electrifying actress in the film from

an electric treadmill with a blue background behind her, singing a title song that was specifically

performance of Kim is simply exquisite, she looks a bit old to play the role (she is 22 playing a

All of the changes in the film were made by Brecher, an MGM screenwriter who specialized in
movie musicals, most notably Meet Me in St. Louis, so it is no surprise that these changes were
made to fit the cookie cutter American musical style. Meet Me in St. Louis also featured Judy

These are all characters who fought and died along side Demetrio and showed faith in their

fighting for as the revolution drug on. Furthermore, he also shows how some of the rebels could
be ruthless and would subject innocent citizens to mistreatment, as the reader clearly sees

to question the goals of some of the followers as they seem to still where ever they go. Luis
Cervantes was a character who portrayed those people who were well educated about the

could be looked at as Demetrio s right hand, as many leaders had trustworthy people they turned

the book. This makes the reader wonder if he was tired and gave up on the cause, as many
followers of the revolution did, or if he foresaw the defeat of Demetrio and got out while he could.

instruments, such as the electric guitar and synthesizer. Perhaps the most famous Cantopop singer
of all time, Teresa Tang, emerged during the 1980s. Her music touched the hearts of people all over
the world, and caused the Communist regime in China to shift their policy of music from just
supporting government propaganda to include expressing individual emotions. Since then, many
Cantonese pop singers have emerged and this genre remains famous even today.
While some musicians used Western genres, such as Western pop music and jazz, as the basis of
their music, other musicians stuck with the traditional Chinese music style while adding Western
elements to it. Due to the popularity of Western music in China, the popularity of traditional
Chinese music diminished, and many traditional Chinese musicians were afraid that traditional
music would eventually fade away. Their solution to this problem

Social Injustice In Hidden Intellectualism By Colin...
There is no question that American culture has evolved over the years. Many citizens have
become far more liberal than others, but it has become widely apparent that strong cultural
differences are still a point of debate. The idea is that every citizen possesses the same equal
rights, yet in Colin Kaepernick and the question of who gets to be called a Patriot , Wesley Morris
portrays how Kaepernick calls attention to social injustice in a televised national sport. In addition,
in Hidden Intellectualism Gerald Graff demonstrates a lack of guidance that enhances new ideas
provided by the educational systems in the nation, by focusing solely on purely academic issues.
Both argue the insufficiency of schooling and widespread social inequality... Show more content on

The only problem seems to be that somehow American society seems to divide people into groups.
There are groups such as the activist and passive; authors like Graff and Morris are those who are in
the activist group. The research done by both authors portrayed what they see around them and their
personal experiences. Graff expresses his opinion about how citizens intellectualism without an
academic background is not seen nor given the same opportunity as to someone with an academic
standpoint through his

Persuasive Speech About Being An Adult
Leaving adolescence behind and becoming an adult is difficult and somewhat terrifying, but there
is a tremendous amount of things about being an adult that makes growing up amazing. Be the
change that you want to see in the world. Gandhi. To grow up is to try and better yourself, to
change from how you were to how you wantto be, so here are some steps on how you can better
yourself and gain others trust. Setting your own alarm to wake up on time, your parents will trust
you more if you wake up on your own, not to mention give you more leeway on how late you
arrive home on school nights since you can wake up on your own without them having to wake
you up 20 times in the morning. Waking up on time and getting places early also shows a great...

Cooking can be a little tricky, because you will have to learn how to make meals in moderation,
most recipes you will come to find are for people with families, and nobody likes eating chicken
Alfredo four nights in a row, but you also shouldn t waste your leftovers, because like stated
before, food is expensive. Now if you do have too much, you can always store it in the freezer for

Impact Of King Kalakaua On The Hawaiian Renaissance
A changing Nation
The Hawaiian renaissance was a time period in Hawaii s history that influenced many people
during that time. King Kalakaua created conflict between the Hawaiians and Americans. The
United States of America failed to recognize Hawaii s opposition to annexation and created
compromises that made a big impact on how Hawaii flourished culturally, politically, and
economically.
Hawaiian Monarchy was slowly dying due to their powers being taken away. Hawaiian Culture
was beginning to get lost from society because more and more people were being drawn to
foreign beliefs and ways of life as the haole population continued to grow, this is initially when The
First Hawaiian Renaissance had begun. Compromises, many made by King Kalakaua, ... Show

The Hawaiian Renaissance also gave natives an opportunity to fight for what they knew was right
about preserving the Hawaiian culture forever. This provided an avenue for people who did not
know Hawaiian culture to witness, and at the same time, understand what it took to preserve the
culture. Lastly, the Hawaiian renaissance had further pushed the United states to find ways to take
away what rightfully belonged to the Hawaiians, including culture, in means of agreements that
were not written on just formal documents but done without consent. Regardless, it had also
drawn Hawaii as nation under the United States. The conflicts and compromises made during
this Hawaiian Renaissance completely changed what people now know as Hawaii, and it is
truly an important aspect of what it came to be today and how the culture of Hawaiians was
preserved. People all over the world, especially those who know nothing about Hawaii or even
America, should all learn about this major time in Hawaii s history where people fought against
the eradication of their culture, as their way of life. The Hawaiian renaissance is too vague to be
compared to a personal problem in life, but it shows how with a conflict and many compromises,
many things can

Agenda Setting Vs Framing Theory
In today s society, media is everywhere and it s not something we can easily avoid. We use the
media for almost everything, we use it to form our own opinions on certain topics, to get
information about what s going on in our communities and the world, and lately, for a lot of
political information. We are constantly surrounded by it from our televisions, the news, internet,
and all the information we can access on our phones and computers. There are many theories that
have been created to explain how the mediainfluences us and shapes the way we get information.
Two of the theories that will be discussed in this paper are agenda setting and framing. These are
two similar theories that we will look at and how they apply in the media to the... Show more

I personally believe that framing is more compelling than agenda setting. I feel as though agenda
setting is a much more cut and dry theory compared to framing. Framing is more complex and
seems to be understood differently by lots of people. Throughout my research I was reading that
not a lot of people agree with each other on what framing is or that the way it is used in the
media has lots of different explanations. I also believe that framing has a larger effect on people
than agenda setting does. The way I have interpreted framing throughout research is that it deals
a lot more with a person s morals and values than agenda setting does. Agenda setting is more,
this is what you see most often so it s what you re going to assume most often, whereas with
framing it s telling you how to think instead of only what to think. The reason I chose the poll
about immigration for an example of framing is because I feel as though the topic of
immigration and whether or not people think it s a negative thing relies more on people s values
and those values can easily be shaped by how the media is trying to persuade people to think that
immigrants are bad and a problem, especially when our own president has such deep and negative
ideals towards them. Agenda setting and framing are very similar but I just feel as though framing
has more depth and a larger effect and influence on the

  • 2. Millersburg Case Brief MILLERSBURG A Millersburg area man on Tuesday denied being in possession of firearms as he fled the scene where he was allegedly stalking a donut delivery driver. Andrew L. Hershberger, 40, of 4607 Township Road 302, Millersburg, pleaded not guilty in Holmes County Municipal Court to carrying a concealed weapon, menacing by stalking, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. If convicted, Hershberger faces up to six years in prison. The charges stem from a Dec. 19 incident. Millersburg Police were called that night to a reported disturbance at a gas station along state Route 39. There, they were advised Hershberger, who had fled the gas station as they arrived, had been following the delivery driver between his last four stops to local businesses, according to Sgt. Matt Shaner. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although manufacturing jobs pulled America out of the Great Depression and led to a period of stability and increased consumerism, in 1979, it stopped being an engine of prosperity. While the fall of the manufacturing sector is often blamed on banks and financiers, the real reasons are globalization and technological progress. • 11. The American Psychological Association Defines Gender... Gender James Gadoury January 12, 2015 Professor Cormier English 101 The American Psychological Association defines gender identity as one s sense of oneself as male, female, or transgender ( Definition of Terms: Sex, Gender, Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation 1). Our culture greatly affects our gender identity, and this can be seen through how our media displays men, women, and transgenders. The media is a reflection of the values that are held in American culture and can be used to enact social reform, or to keep the same old values alive and well. In Gendered Media: The Influence of Media on Views of Gender , Wood writes: ...media insinuate their messages into our consciousness at every turn. All forms of media communicate images of the sexes, many of which perpetuate unrealistic, stereotypical, and limiting perceptions. (1) This illustrates just how influential the media can be in American culture. Many people immediately internalize everything they hear from any source that they see as trustworthy. If the media is filled with negative gender stereotypes, then Americans are at risk of internalizing negative gender roles. In the same journal, Woods also explains the three main ways that media influences gender identity: Three themes describe how media represent gender. First, women are underrepresented which falsely implies that men are the cultural standard and women are unimportant or invisible. Second, men and women are portrayed in stereotypical ... • 12. How Causation Is A Relation Between Events Or States Of... 1.(a) In Chisholm s paper, Human freedom and the self, Chisholm notes that causation is a relation between events or states of affairs. For example, if the roof in my house cave in during a hurricane this would be something that was caused by several other events such as the roof being too weak, the rain pressure being too much for the roof to hold, excessive rain, etc. With this term, Chisholm created two other narrower terms to specifically describe the different types of causations. The first causation is transeunt which is when one event or state of affairs causes other events or state of affairs. An example of Transeunt causation is if I threw a piece of paper in a recycling bin my event would be recycling but the unknown event cause by this event would be more oxygen in the world for people to breath in because that paper can be reused instead of having to cut more trees down and cutting down our oxygen. The second type of causation would be Immanent causation, which is when an agent (or person) causes an event or state of affairs. An example of Immanent causation is me recycling the paper because I m the agent who recycled the piece of paper, it wasn t done by another event. During the paper, Chisholm reflects on two objections and takes his defense on both. The first one being simply a fact of (a) He could have done otherwise means no more nor less than and (b) If he could have chosen to do otherwise, he would have done otherwise. The second objective has a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While most contraceptives are used as preventative measures prior to or during intercourse, some methods can be used within a short time after unprotected intercourse or failed use of birth control, which are usually referred to as emergency contraceptive. Within the last 30 years, a number of approaches, which seem safe and efficacious, have been developed as this method, including the popular plan B pill. This team should be formed by individuals who are one hundred percent committed and dedicated towards the goal of organizational change. Being prepared for every class, engaging in class activities, and caring for your fellow students all represent good qualities of academic decorum. When student, enter class looking like they just woke up from a week long nap, it not only affects them, but who they are around. I have witnessed many events when someone sees another not trying, which changes the attitude of student who might have been excited to learn, into not wanting to even be there. The same applies outside of campus. If a kid is interested in football, but his friends disagree and spent all their time playing video games, that kid will gradually turn away from sports and follow who he is surrounded by. Not only will the student be affected now, but it will change the way he acts in the future. Indeed, Ausonius s work may seem uncomplicated on the surface: he borrows heavily from previous literature and uses straightforward syntax. However, his work contains depth beyond its ostensible simplicity: it blends genres and uses consistent themes as narrative foci to guide the reader. In two of his most prominent poems, liquid (as water and drink) is the key interpretive control: In the Bissula, alcohol provides wisdom that counters the confining seriousness of sobriety, while in the Moselle the river provides calm comfort that contrasts with the hectic unnatural world. Throughout both poems, Ausonius consistently uses liquid to contrast the serenity and clarity provided by water and drink with the chaos of the dry world. In the Bissula, alcohol plays a key role as the interpretive control. Ausonius addresses the reader directly, proclaiming that his poems are unserious. He writes that I follow Thymele (4), classifying his work as relaxing entertainment more than serious literature. Indeed, he requests that the reader drink before you read (6) in order to best understand the poem. The number of inmates incarcerated in America is a direct cause of the policing that is going on in the streets of American cities. Experiments done on the effectiveness of police during the 1970 s showed that traditional methods of policing were not effective in decreasing the amount of crime on the streets. Until the early 1970 s most states used the indeterminate sentencing method which allowed parole boards the authority to allow offenders to be released early. The idea of indeterminate sentencing came about in the mid 1800 s and was preferred over determinate sentencing because determinate sentencing allowed no room for reform. Because of the dissatisfaction with indeterminate sentencing and the pressure for longer sentencing, there was a policy implemented in the 1980 s which made it mandatory to have a guide for the minimum amount of time served as well as new sentencing guidelines. This method caused inmates to serve more time and because of this, there became a problem with overcrowding. To alleviate the overcrowding, inmates were then available to get sentence reduction because of good behavior and also with certain work programs they could be released early by the building up of earned time credit. In 1984 the first truth in sentencing laws were in acted. These laws required that prisoners serve a substantial portion of their sentence. In the female reproductive system, estrogen targets tissues such as mammary glands, uterus, and ovaries. Bone formation has a significant positive relationship with estrogen from puberty to maturation and beyond (Clark et al., 1992). Post puberty estrogen is mainly synthesized and released from the ovaries in females. Through binding proteins or estrogen receptors (ER) found within the nucleus, estrogen is retained and affects specific target tissues throughout the body. Binding of estrogen to its receptor causes conformational change which in turn allows binding to chromatin and proceed with transcription of specific target genes (Murdoch ... Phyotestrogens are plant derived non steroidal compounds with structure similar to estrogen and cause an estrogenic effect (Xu et al., 1998). Isoflavones have shown to have an antagonistic effect on endogenous estrogen while also being able to cause biological action (Morito et al., 2002). Soybean isoflavones have shown to have the same affinity to receptors ERa and ERB as estrogen (Morito et al., 2001). The binding of exogenous phytoestrogens in the form of isoflavones cause a reduction in endogenous estrogen synthesized. Studies have shown the diminishing effects of isoflavones on estrogen. In an earlier study it was concluded that endogenous estrogen levels were 15% lower amongst subjects with the highest amount of soy protein intake compared to those with low soy protein intake (Wu et al., 2002). This negative effect of soybean isoflavones on endogenous estrogen may lead to a disruption in growth of the long bone at the epiphyseal plate. In order to find the correlation and relationship of soybean isoflavones (a soy vegetarian diet) on pre pubertal epiphyseal plate growth on humans, a mouse model will be used. Bone formation has been mediated by isoflavones with precipitous mineralization of long bone at the epiphyseal growth plate (Morris et al., 2006). This study aims to find whether isoflavones from a high soybean vegetarian diet plays a role in prepubescent human females at the epiphyseal growth plate by using mice as models. Firms use cost plus pricing in order to cover their operating costs. Cost plus means they can increase the price to their customers with whom they have contracts when the operating costs rise. Operating costs can rise for many reasons and cost plus pricing allows firms the flexibility to manage operating costs. In order to lessen customer anger over increased prices, Gina can suggest an increase in the marketing budget to minimize the price increase. • 46. Agenda Setting Vs Framing Theory In today s society, media is everywhere and it s not something we can easily avoid. We use the media for almost everything, we use it to form our own opinions on certain topics, to get information about what s going on in our communities and the world, and lately, for a lot of political information.
