Medieval Castles the Start of the Modern Age Essay examples
Medieval castles were the start of the modern age. They had forms of government, and everyone
had a specific job. It was, however, still primitive to modern standards, because they still had a
King and Queen and no indoor plumbing. This blend of primitive and modern makes medieval
castle life an interesting and intriguing time to live. A medieval castleusually had five main
buildings: The hall, the kitchen, barracks/living quarters/supply buildings, water rooms, and a
chapel. The chapel was the most influential and sacred place of the entire castle. Usually the chapel
would be two stories tall to separate the royal familyfrom servants. The royal family would be on
the second floor while the servants would be on the ground floor.... Show more content on

The royal family would sit astride him on wooden benches. Most halls were arranged much as a
church was with wooden benches facing the king. The tables that everyone would sit around
had white linen cloth on them and the tables could also be easily removed. If the king was
especially prestigious he would have a stationary table that would never move. The hall often
had stone or wooden pillars the supported its wooden roof and if the hall was on the second floor
it was supported by stone or wooden pillars as well. The floor that these pillars supported was
almost always wooden or if they could afford it stone vaulting. The floor was often wooden and
covered in rushes and herbs that would be changed periodically. Carpet was only used on walls
and tables until the fourteenth century. The windows of the hall were often just wooden shutters
although some did have tinted glass in later time periods. The hall was often the most beautiful
and decorated place of the castle with the church being a close second. The kitchen was the main
area for food preparation and storage. There were often chicken coops, pens, and other locations
where animals were kept for food nearby the kitchen. There were many fruit trees and orchards
placed closely as well. The kitchen usually consisted of several fireplaces with a central hearth
where food could

Jazz Music Research Paper
Of all the arts that took place in the United States, Jazz is well thought out as America s first
original art form. Since its beginning in the 20th century, Jazz music is defined by chronicle
changes. Almost every decade a new essence enhanced the movement, and by the 1940 s jazz had
developed into a mature, complex form of music, with many nuances and avenues for unceasing
changes.
Jazz appeared in New Orleans in the early twentieth century. It is the product of miscegenation
between the culture of American black people from slavery, and European culture imported by the
colonists. In the early 1910s, New Orleans Jazz began combining ragtime and blues with
improvisation. In 1930, the swing era emerged followed by Bebop in 1940 where jazz shifted ...

First, the traditional artist performs jazz based on bebop, swing, blues and hard bop. They dismiss
free jazz and fusion. These artists consider that they play real jazz, not the diverse hybrids and

trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, who played a major role in the reappearance of jazz.
Second, the contemporary mainstream artists are mainly influenced by hard bop. Although they use
Hard Bop instrumentation and musical forms, contemporary mainstream artists try to push the
music further. They increase technical proficiency on their instruments, they expand musical
harmonies using more difficult chords and complex chords progression and they express deeper
and varied emotions. The trumpeter Terence Blanchard is today s most important contemporary
mainstream jazz artist.
Third, as their name indicates, anything goes jazz artists mix up all kind of music. Their music can

What Happened To The Loyalists
Argumentative Essay
Loyalist or Patriot
Background: Various events of the 1700s led colonists to develop strong beliefs regarding the
British government. The Trial of Peter Zenger, The Proclamation of 1763, the Boston Massacre
combined with constantly changing taxes and rules that governed them made many think that self
governance was the best path for the colonies. Others felt that the King and his appointed officials
had their best interests in mind and preferred to stay loyal to the crown. Later, during the American
Revolution, most colonists took one side or the other. Either they were Patriots or loyalist. Patriots
believed that the colonies should break away from England and govern themselves. Loyalist

What happened to loyalists during the war?
Life for the loyalists became increasingly difficult during the war. Loyalists who lived in areas
controlled by the patriots were in constant danger from radical patriots. Many of them lost their
homes and businesses.
Many loyalists left the country and went back to Britain. Others decided to help the British fight the
patriots. They either joined the British army or formed their own groups of fighters such as the
Loyal Greens and the Royal American Regiment.
What happened to the loyalists after the war?
Many loyalists moved to England after the war ended. A lot of them lost their fortunes and land that
they had built up over years in the Americas. In some cases the British government paid them for
their loyalty, but it was usually not nearly as much as they had lost. The United States government
wanted the loyalists to stay. They felt the new country could use their skills and education. Few
stayed, however.

Essay About Tulane University
The essential question is Why are you interested in attending Tulane University? , but in all
honesty it should be Why not Tulane? . No I have never had the chance to visit Louisiana, none
the less Tulane, but I have always yearned to visit the unique state. What better way to explore
the state than by attending a college located there? Like the state where Tulane University is
located, it seems to be a very diverse yet fun place to live out my college life. My interest in the
college range from the academic reputation of the school, the location and social environment, and
the overall attractiveness of the college. A couple months back I met with a Tulane Admissions
representative who first sparked my interest in the college. She opened my eyes, and made me
ponder the reality that I could actually see myself as part of the school. Compared to the other
schools that were also being represented (NYU, University of Miami, Georgia Tech, and the George
Washington University), Tulane grab my interests the most. Before attending the information

Between Shades Of Gray Themes
Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive. Dalai
Lama. This quote is expressed many times in the book, Between Shades of Gray, by Ruta Sepetys.
Lina, the protagonist, is separated from her father. She, her mother, and younger brother, Jonas, go
through traumatizing times most people would crumble under. Yet, she still manages to survive
because she doesn t want to lose her family, traditions, relationships and her dignity. This book
shows, people who value their dignity will survive longer than those who don t.
Many characters of the book don t give up as easily as others. This sets them apart from the rest.
Those people value their family, and would do anything to keep them alive. Ms. Arvydas is an
example. She became a prostitute to protect Andrius from the Soviets. She chose his safety over her
own. For instance, when Andrius clarifies Lina when she wrongly assumed Andrius loyalty to the

A Comparison Of Thomas Morton And William Bradford
Throughout time there has been people who for some reason or another cannot get along,
Thomas Morton and William Bradford are no different. Thomas Morton s and William Bradford
s had a contentious relationship fueled their narratives New English Cannon and Of Plymouth
Plantation. Both Morton and Bradford attempt to soil the other s name by writing about their
contradictory experiences with each other. But who comes out of this situation the true hero,
Morton or Bradford? William Bradford s emotional outbursts and irrational thinking regarding
Thomas Morton overshadows any good he has done in Plymouth, making William Bradford the
anti colonial hero. William Bradford s main reasoning for his settling in America is to create a
separatist utopia, freeing himself and members of his church from disgraceful behavior and
British control. Meeting Morton rehashes old feelings of contempt in Bradford casing an influx
of bad feelings. Bradford describes Morton as the Lord of Misrule (204) and accuses Morton of
maintaining a school of Atheism (205). By stating the latter Bradford unknowingly damages his
reputation therefore losing all respectability and credence. So, when Morton states because Mine
Host was a man that endeavored to advance the dignity of the Church of England; which they
would labor to vilify with uncivil terms, inveighing against the sacred Book of Common Prayer,

Global And Being Known As A Successful International...
Going global and being known as a successful international corporate is an impressive achievement
that almost all companies aim to attain. To successfully convert a business from domestic to
international, a firm will need to consider a new set of factors that might not necessarily affect a
local only company. Companies use a number of tactics to achieve their global expansion plans,
including exporting goods, forming strategic partnerships, licensing, acquiring businesses and
building new facilities in multiple countries. Often, a company may need to try out few strategies in
order to find the perfect fit. Many global expansion failures results from companies temptation

companies, encountered many impasses during their international expansions. Nonetheless, much
can be learned from Grolsch, successes and failures.

your opinion of the MABA process?
While there are great potentials in exploring new opportunities overseas, there can also be
considerable risks associated in doing business in an unfamiliar environment. Companies need a

The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus was constructed by Greek architectures in the mid 6th century
BCE at Ephesus. ( The temple of Artemis, 2012) This ancient Greek city was also known as the
City of the Mother Goddess which explains the reason why Greeks decided to construct The

the chastity, virginity, the hunt, the moon, and the natural environment, Artemis. She was daughter
of Zeus, as soon as Artemis was born, she helped her mother give birth to her twin brother, thereby

I Am A Hello Kitty
Enjoying a fan s club is a unique experience, where you realize that you re not the only one who
has those bizarre hobbies, tastes, and preferences towards certain things. Thus, I will tell you that
there is always more than one person who loves the same idea and defends with unreasonable
tenacity and passionate beliefs their opinions and their likes. As far as I m concerned, I am a Hello
Kittyfan. It sounds silly and childish, but at least I know I m not the only one with this excessive
and tenacious passion of collecting and explore out there what is coming out regarding my Hello
Kitty obsession. In the social networks, there are tons of Hello Kitty groups of users created by its
own fans from all across the world. Within each group, users can join, add pictures of hello kitty
places that they have visited, comment and enjoying by looking other people posts.
Hello Kitty is everywhere and it can be from a pen to something that you never thought Hello
Kitty will be. Even though I moved away from California, where Hello Kitty convention events
take place and where there are hundreds of Hello Kitty stores, I still remember the excitement of
walking into a Hello Kitty stores. Looking at every Hello Kitty item, spending my entire
shopping day in the same store and ending up with no money. Those hello kitty stores are heaven
for me, full of Hello Kitty fans; kids and adults enjoying their passion for Hello Kitty together. No

My Passion In Computer Science
I still remember the day, I first used a computer at my uncle s house in the summer of 2000. As a
boy of 8, I was astonished to see the interaction between a television like object and some keys.
From that day, I believe, deep passion for computer grew inside me. A few years later when I got
acquainted with the internet, Computer Science became my most favorite topic. Being amazed by
the potentiality of the internet, I attended a Web Development course after completing high school.
Since then I took Web Development seriously, committed myself to it and decided to study
Computer Science.
From the very beginning of undergraduate studies, I have been one of the most excellent
programmers of my class. Programming and related courses seemed much more interesting than
others to me. Specifically, Programming Languages, Programming Language Structure, Compiler
Design courses helped me to have a solid understanding of different types of programming
languages and their insights. Besides, I learned to organize any problem into small parts and solve
any problem much efficiently from Data Structure and Algorithm course. Alongside academic
studies, I also got myself involved in professional Web Development and extra curricular activities. I
found particular interest in Front end Development. To push my limits further, I also started
participating in different apps competitions and competing with the leading developers of

How Did Theodore Roethke Write Poetry
Curiosity. Determination. Motive. All of these help one move along to the next step, whether it is
something simple or difficult. If no effort was put into something, then the outcome will not be as
great as one wants. However, Theodore Roethke had many inspirations around him that encouraged
him to write poetry. Theodore was inspired by his mental illness, the Romantic era, and nature.
Theodore Huebner Roethke was born on May 25, 1908 in Saginaw, Michigan. He had a small

He spent most of his time in his father s greenhouse, taking in all of the beautiful features. As he
spent his time viewing his surroundings, he decided that he could use nature as an aspect of his

Allan). One of Theodore s poems, in detail, identifies events that happened as a child, especially in
the greenhouse. In Infirmity , Theodore writes, Deep in the greens of

Character, Morals, Integrity Essay
Character, Morals, Integrity
Morals, character, integrity, what do these words mean....actually, the question is, do you have
them. A man named Dwight Moody once said, Character is what you are in the dark. You cannot
see your morals, character, or integrity, these are only shown as your values. Someone could only
show their own values, which are very important to themselves and everyone else. Integrity is the
firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values. The way you show your integrity,
character, and morals or how they are effect you in either a negative or positive way. There are
many causes to how your values are. So as you know, integrity is very important and it is important
to have it.

Laura stated, integrity effects you by either being honest or not. If you are honest, then you have
integrity. People who say that they are going to do something do it. You can now see that character,
morals, and integrity are very important.
Secondly, people may think that their values may not affect them, but they re wrong, they affect
them a lot. Since character describes how you are and what your moral strengths are, having bad
character could make people dislike you because of how you are. On the other hand, if you have
good character, then more people would see how good of a person you are and even more
people would like you. Morals sort of describe the way you make decisions, so having bad morals
could guide your life down the drain, while having good morals could guide your life minute by
minute toward noble goals. Integrity is also very important. Having bad integrity could make you
very non trustworthy to others. Having good integrity would make you very trustworthy to others.
Knowing how important they are, you should always have good or even better character, morals,
and integrity.
Also, there are many causes for how your character, morals, and integrity are. One cause could of
course be yourself. By hanging out with the right people and making good decisions, you could
have good values. Yet hanging out with the wrong people and making bad decisions would be
having bad values. Another cause may

The Era Of Reconstruction During The Civil War
The Era of Reconstruction started in 1855. After the Civil war ended the South was left in
shambles. Southern states were left in economic and politic distress and faced renewed social
issues. The objective of Reconstruction in the South was to restore the South economically,
award freed African Americans the rights to be equal citizens in the eyes of the law, and repair
the breakage in the Union. Though the people worked to restore the South they were unable to get
over the differences and realities needed to become whole again. The South was left in ruins after

called sharecropping . Freedmen were never able to make enough to support themselves and fell
further into debt. Not to mention the major drop in prices of major cash crops that once fueled
the South s economy. Though the whole idea was to entrust freedmen with their independence
and allow the ability to build wealth, but the freedmen were practically remaining slaves but to
the land rather than the landowners. Even those who migrated to cities in order to leave the
plantations were unable to create a standard life. Many freedmen in the city were unable to get

was common that laborers working in factories or as maids/laundresses could barely afford to

In the same case, though given the so called freedoms and rights freedmen struggled to achieve

equality were not completely fulfilled. In order to help the freedmen the Freedmen s Bureau was

Roman Religion During The Times Of Augustus Essay
ROMAN RELIGION http://death.wikia.com/wiki/Death_in_Ancient_Rome The Roman religion
during the times of Augustus (c.27bc 14ad) the traditional religious practices revived by
Augustus himself as a way to restore favour of the gods. He rebuilt temples and revived
ceremonies. The ancient roman religion attained many of its rituals, superstitions, traditions, god
and goddesses etc. from the influence of a range of sources in which they blended together to
claim/adopt as their own religion. The romans practiced their religion less spiritually as they
found their religious experience to be more of a bartering or business like relationship between the
greater forces that had numina (spirit/power the gods) that they believed controlled the elements
and all in which controlled their existence. Although they had this belief they did not believe that
these forces created the world or the human form due to them depicting the gods behaving like
humans and having a human like appearance. Due to them fearing the power of nature, as they
could not understand the reasons to things such as environmental changes, believing it came from
these beings of the elements helped put it into some sense.1 Due to this belief they did not seek
any specific explanations. The relationship with these god s and goddesses was seen as more of a
give and take relationship in which they bartered offerings which they believed pleased these gods
so that in return they would be given what they asked.

Soccer is a simplistic sport. Eleven members of each team defend their side of the field to

linesmen. The equipment used in soccer is also very simple. In addition to the field itself, all that

Introduction Incentive of contemporary concierge healthcare practice is to offer consumers care
that is personalized, direct, of good quality, and affordable. Concierge type practices usually
involving one or a small number of physicians accept only a limited number of patients who pay

UML to Java Executable Code Generator Sai Priya Anumula, California State University,

software design, because it has many benefits as it reduces the effort to generate code and
moreover automated code is less error prone than writing code manually. However, major
challenges in this area include checking consistency of UML models, and ensuring accuracy,
maintainability, and efficiency of the generated code. In this paper we discuss a tool called

Analysis Of A Doll House By Henry James
In Daisy Miller by Henry James the author takes us on an adventure of a self centered American
woman who has no desire to conform to society. On the contrary in A Dolls House, Henrik Ibsen
shows Nora as woman who is also not bothered by society, but for less selfish reasons. Both
women are willing to do what is necessary for Daisy it is what is necessary to fulfill her own
needs and for Nora what is necessary to fulfill the needs of the ones she loves. Despite the motives
of both women, each author shows the empowerment behind each character. James and Ibsen
discuss how the power of women is portrayed through independence, courage and innocence.
Independence is something everyone craves but may not always achieve. Your roots may grow this
characteristic early in life or a life changing event may cause you to seek it. Daisy Miller travels
throughout Europe unchaperoned until she comes across a gentleman, Winterbourne. James sets
the tone of Daisy s adventures after she meets Winterbourne by noting, A young man was not at
liberty to speak to a young unmarried lady except under certain rarely occurring conditions (pg 5),
which shows the outlook of the European Society. Despite the European ways, Daisy engaging with
Winterbourne shows her independence from society. On the other hand, Nora plays the
domesticated womanhowever, Nora s independence is not portrayed as her roots as it is for Daisy.

appearance among voters. Once Eisenhower became the Republican nominee he sought out to
change the perception of how voters see him as a politician. In September 1952, Eisenhower
delivered his first televised segment at Transfilm studios called Eisenhower Answers America,
which targeted voters in key battleground states. The strategy was for Eisenhower to focus on issues
that mattered to the American people during that era. Michael Beschloss (2015) of the New York
Times, reported that Eisenhower addressed various political issues like inflation, government
corruption, and the stalemate in Korea. Eisenhower team knew the only way to continue their
communications efforts was through producing multiply ads, which resulted in costing the

Chapter 6: A Tour of the Cell
Concept 6.1 Biologists use microscopes and the tools of biochemistry to study cells 1. The
study of cells has been limited by their small size, and so they were not seen and described until
1665, when Robert Hooke first looked at dead cells from an oak tree. His contemporary, Anton
van Leeuwenhoek, crafted lenses and with the improvements in optical aids, a new world was
opened. Magnification and resolving power limit what can be seen. Explain the difference.
Magnification is the ratio of an object s image size to its real size. Resolution is a measure of the
clarity of the image; it is the minimum distance two points can be separated and still be

The nuclear lamina, a netlike array of protein filaments, connects the layers of the nuclear envelope.
12. What is the nuclear lamina? Nuclear matrix? The nuclear lamina is the netlike array of protein
filaments that maintains the shape of the nucleus by mechanically supporting the nuclear envelope.
The nuclear matrix is a framework of protein fibers extending throughout the nuclear interior. The
nuclear matrix and nuclear lamina may help organize the genetic material so it functions efficiently.

Found within the nucleus are the chromosomes. They are made of chromatin. What are the two
components of chromatin? When do the thin chromatin fibers condense to become distinct
chromosomes? Chromatin is composed of proteins and DNA. Chromatin fibers condense to become
distinct chromosomes as a cell prepares to divide.
14.
When are the nucleoli visible? What are assembled here? Nucleoli are visible in a nondividing
nucleus and in cells active in protein synthesis. Within the nucleoli, proteins imported from the
cytoplasm are assembled with rRNA into large and small subunits of ribosomes.

Differences Between Jefferson And Hamilton
Jefferson Hamilton Essay
Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton had many similarities such as strong patriotism,
intelligence, and both served in the Revolutionary War. They had their differences as well.
Jefferson a Republican and Hamilton a Federalist soon become political enemies.
Thomas Jefferson was born in Virginia to an old, respected, and wealthy family. He grew up
with ten siblings, him being the third oldest. He appeared to be a tall and thin man with brown
red hair. Jefferson learned to play the violin, hunt, sing, and dance as a young boy. Going into
college Jefferson already knew Greek and Latin. Later in life he owned a tobacco plant in which
he hired slaves to work on the plant. Jefferson was never comfortable with giving speeches, ... Show

hurricane hit the island. He was then sent away to New York where he could finish school.
During the Revolutionary War, George Washington discovered him and made Hamilton his
personal assistant. To boost his wealth, he married Elizabeth Schuyler who was born to the
richest and most powerful family in New York. Soon after the war he became a delegate for
New York. Hamilton s faith in citizens were very poor. His view on the citizens was sculpted by
his wartime experiences. He had seen people put themselves before others especially before their
government. Because of this, Hamilton and every Federalist do not believe in any democratic
system. Hamilton s ideal economy depended on a strong one. He wanted to expand the economy by
business, manufacturing, and trade. He also wanted to build a United States bank and a stable
location of the state s capital. Hamilton s ideal government was one ruled by wealthy and upper
class people. Hamilton and all the other Federalists favored a strong national government. They
thought the rights of the states was not as important as having a powerful nation. During the French
Revolution, the Federalists sided with Great Britain because it was a nation filled with power and

Pro Choice Vs Pro Life
Most people don t know that there has been approximately 57,762,169 abortions since the
decision was made in Roe vs. Wade in 1973 (Life News). Some people look at this number and
are appalled. But others see this and think of all the people who used abortion as a means to a
second chance. Abortion has long been a controversial topic in the U.S. but lots of people are
choosing sides without really knowing all the facts. Abortioncan be seen from many different sides
but most know these sides as pro choice or pro life. Pro choice is known for supporting women s
right to choose whether they want to have the baby or not and pro life is known for supporting the
life of the unborn child. The big question is who are abortions really hurting and who is pro life
really helping.
Let s start with Pro Life, after doing some research I have found that this seems to be a more
popular decision. There are a lot of reasons floating around as to why abortion should be illegal
one of the main reasons is the effect that having abortions can have on the woman who is having
the abortion done. I have found that having one or many abortions can cause physical effects like
cramping, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and bleeding or spotting. It can also cause
more dangerous effects like heavy bleeding, fever, infection, damage to the uterus or cervix, and
possible death. It can also have many emotional side effects like regret, a sense of loneliness,
anxiety, or nightmares. There are

Paula Hawkins, a well known British author, once said, I have lost control over everything, even
the places in my head. In Margaret Atwood s futuristic dystopia The Handmaid s Tale, a woman
named Offred feels she is losing control over everything in her life. Offred lives in the Republic
of Gilead. A group of fundamentalists create the Republic of Gilead after they murder the
President of the United States and members of Congress. The fundamentalists use the power to
their advantage and restrict women s freedom. As a result, each woman is assigned a specific duty
to perform in society. Offred s husband and child are taken away from her and she is now forced to

Offred struggles with her new life, stating, I want to be held and told my name. I want to be
valued, in ways that I am not; I want to be more than valuable. I repeat my former name; to
remind myself of what I once could do, how others saw me (Atwood 97). Offred is emotionally
run down. She misses her husband Luke and the way he made her feel. Offred spends most of
her days wondering about her husband Luke, and daughter. She wonders if her husband is dead,
made it across the Canadian border, or was captured. Although Offred never finds out Luke s life
status, Serena Joy offers to tell Offred some information regarding her daughter. Consequently,
Offred must sleep with Nick and conceive a child in spite of receiving the information. As long
as the Commander believes he is the father of Offred s child, no problems will arise. Offred s
decision is unconventional and risky, both for herself and Nick. If Nick and Offred are caught,
they will be executed. However, her unorthodox decision pays off. Serena Joy obtains a
photograph of Offred s daughter and informs Offred that her daughter is now around eight years
old and has been adopted by a family loyal to the regime. Offred is informed that her daughter is
alive and in safe care. The new information provides Offred with a sense of relief. By agreeing to

showcases her willingness and ability to share information as well as an attribute of trust towards
her members of staff.

Stewart shows that she has detailed knowledge about minute aspects if the restaurant chain from

Malala Yousafzai: Fighting For Education
The right to education is one important fundamental that everyone should have the ability to have,
but most times that right is denied. Where I live; in a small town, everyone that I know goes to
school, I believe everyone has an opportunity to proceed into their own education. Some people don
t take education for granted and might not even realize the importance of it. There s many reasons
why people, states or countries may not take education seriously. Pakistan is one country that has the
most restrictions on education towards women. Malala Yousafazi is a young girl activist that stood
up for her people in Pakistan to retrieve the rights of education to women.
There are many countries where culture or religion can sometimes deny certain peoples right to
have an education, restricting them from going to school to learn. Those countries don t see the
benefits people can get from learning new languages, or learning their own history. One of these
countries that do such restrictions of education is Pakistan. In the country of Pakistan, some
people think that there is no use of education, it s unnecessary for girls to go to school and be able
to learn. Instead the girls should be at home where they can help their mothers cook and clean to

At the start of the film, Ashoke and Ashima leave India for America and their life together

The clashes are both cultural and generation based. Teenagers in any culture choose not to listen to

Challenges Faced By The World Today
CONCLUSION
Security is one of the major challenges that is being faced by the world today, as seen by continuous
revelations about breaches and incidents. On this note of insecurity and unpredictability, banking
industry is keen to redefine its approach to security thereby making an attempt to balance three
critical factors i.e. cost, innovation and risk. On parallel grounds, the domain of internal security is
undergoing drastic changes that mandates banking institutions to embrace new set of skills and
practices. Fraud can be categorized as a business risk it is like a sword of Damocles over a bank s
future. This must change for the good. The rapid pace with which the technology is changing, like
the recent explosion of cellular customers, is often entailed by necessary evils. An unstoppable
tsunami is engulfing banks with their employees and clients carrying their private electronic
gadgets to work. Similarly, applicants for BYOD has surged and simultaneously it accelerates the
rate of security threats, both ethically and technologically. Online banking proves to be the
antithesis of all the innovations of security professionals due to their identifiable features such as
their mobility, richness in data and susceptibility to theft.
Threat modelling and vulnerability assessment offers new insights that facilitates a more pro active
approach to security, provided organizations pay equal focus to the ever growing market of
potential threats. It should be acknowledged that

Arguments Against Physical Machines Jenna Beran
Arguments Against Physical Machines Jenna Beran
In A Contemporary Defense of Dualism, J. P. Moreland challenges the problem of mind and body.
He uses the terms intentionality and subjectivity to argue that humans are not physical machines.
Subjectivity is the opinions and feelings from experience that is unique to the individual.
Intentionality describes how thought can be directed on a particular object. This is consciousness.
These terms are what make human beings distinct from physical machines. Moreland argues that
human beings are different from a physical machine because humans have a mind that uses
intentionality and subjectivity.
Moreland compares the intentionality and subjectivity of physical things to the mind. Humans are
able to think about desires and beliefs with the use of intentionality. We are not just a bundle of
nerves that take in sensory information and give feedback because of the intentionality of the mind.
Instead, human beings are able to process the sensory information, and give feedback through
unique opinions. The combination of consciousness and experience are what makes every human
unique in the world. When looking at a physical object like a computer, it doesn t have the
characteristics of subjectivity and intentionality. The computer does not have subjectivity because it
cannot feel emotions. The computer also doesn t have intentionality because it cannot express its
beliefs. Humans can envision objects that do not really exist such as a

its production of software, telecommunications and semiconductor development (Comparative

also still revolve around the Hebrew calendar. Israel is often at the heart of Middle Eastern
conflicts and because of that, relies heavily on their national survival, which instils such values
in their people. Culturally they are very blunt and expressive. Israelis are considered to use
direct communication which is usually concise and to the point. People of this tiny country
tend to say what they think and do not sugar coat things to protect someone else s feelings. Using
bigger words and elaborating more than necessary is often considered suspicious in a prospect s
eyes. Israelis are very animated speakers and are known to use hand gestures and shouting in
normal conversations. Further, interrupting someone speaking, while considered rude here in the
US, is very common and is considered a sign of engagement (Schell, 2014). In Israeli culture, it
is generally thought that every person is equal and it is not common to give special consideration

It was, however, still primitive to modern standards, because they still had a King and Queen and no indoor plumbing. This blend of primitive and modern makes medieval castle life an interesting and intriguing time to live. If the king was especially prestigious he would have a stationary table that would never move. The hall often had stone or wooden pillars the supported its wooden roof and if the hall was on the second floor it was supported by stone or wooden pillars as well. The floor that these pillars supported was almost always wooden or if they could afford it stone vaulting. The floor was often wooden and covered in rushes and herbs that would be changed periodically. Carpet was only used on walls and tables until the fourteenth century. The windows of the hall were often just wooden shutters although some did have tinted glass in later time periods. The hall was often the most beautiful and decorated place of the castle with the church being a close second. The kitchen was the main area for food preparation and storage. There were often chicken coops, pens, and other locations where animals were kept for food nearby the kitchen. There were many fruit trees and orchards placed closely as well. The kitchen usually consisted of several fireplaces with a central hearth where food could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both Morton and Bradford attempt to soil the other s name by writing about their contradictory experiences with each other. But who comes out of this situation the true hero, Morton or Bradford? William Bradford s emotional outbursts and irrational thinking regarding Thomas Morton overshadows any good he has done in Plymouth, making William Bradford the anti colonial hero. William Bradford s main reasoning for his settling in America is to create a separatist utopia, freeing himself and members of his church from disgraceful behavior and British control. Meeting Morton rehashes old feelings of contempt in Bradford casing an influx of bad feelings. From past school projects, I knew that many Loyalists fled to the Maritimes following the American Revolutionary War. I had also previously learnt that some Loyalists were freed African American slaves, however I never realised how incredible their story was. Through this project, I learnt about the Black Loyalists struggles for freedom and acceptance, the hostile treatment that they endured from both the British government and their fellow Nova Scotians and their eventual exodus to Sierra Leone. He rebuilt temples and revived ceremonies. The ancient roman religion attained many of its rituals, superstitions, traditions, god and goddesses etc. from the influence of a range of sources in which they blended together to claim/adopt as their own religion. The romans practiced their religion less spiritually as they found their religious experience to be more of a bartering or business like relationship between the greater forces that had numina (spirit/power the gods) that they believed controlled the elements and all in which controlled their existence. Although they had this belief they did not believe that these forces created the world or the human form due to them depicting the gods behaving like humans and having a human like appearance. Due to them fearing the power of nature, as they could not understand the reasons to things such as environmental changes, believing it came from these beings of the elements helped put it into some sense.1 Due to this belief they did not seek any specific explanations. On the contrary in A Dolls House, Henrik Ibsen shows Nora as woman who is also not bothered by society, but for less selfish reasons. Both women are willing to do what is necessary for Daisy it is what is necessary to fulfill her own needs and for Nora what is necessary to fulfill the needs of the ones she loves. Despite the motives of both women, each author shows the empowerment behind each character. James and Ibsen discuss how the power of women is portrayed through independence, courage and innocence. Independence is something everyone craves but may not always achieve. Your roots may grow this characteristic early in life or a life changing event may cause you to seek it. Daisy Miller travels throughout Europe unchaperoned until she comes across a gentleman, Winterbourne. James sets the tone of Daisy s adventures after she meets Winterbourne by noting, A young man was not at liberty to speak to a young unmarried lady except under certain rarely occurring conditions (pg 5), which shows the outlook of the European Society. Despite the European ways, Daisy engaging with Winterbourne shows her independence from society. Moreland argues that human beings are different from a physical machine because humans have a mind that uses intentionality and subjectivity. Moreland compares the intentionality and subjectivity of physical things to the mind. Humans are able to think about desires and beliefs with the use of intentionality. We are not just a bundle of nerves that take in sensory information and give feedback because of the intentionality of the mind. Instead, human beings are able to process the sensory information, and give feedback through unique opinions.
