Piaget Cognitive Theory
Piaget s Theory used in Mathematics Today Piaget took an interest in children s cognitive
development and came up with his theory of Cognitive Development; the Cognitive Development
theory consists of the four stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete Operational, and Formal
Operational (Ghazi Ullah, 2016, pg. 1). Jean Piaget s cognitive theory has a wide array of effects on
children s learning in mathematics that are applicable to teaching today. Teachers today use different
strategies and teaching methods based on what stage children are in. I will discuss each of the stages
and how teachers use them in math today. The first stage is the sensorimotor stage, which takes place
between the age of zero to two, and is where children understand perception and awareness of the
environment through physical actions and the manipulation of objects (Ghazi Ullah, 2016, pg. 1). In
the sensorimotor stage, the most important thing to understand is the idea of object permanence and
understanding that even when the child cannot see the object they are still able to find it. Also, in this
stage they begin to associate numbers with objects and they understand counting. In order to enhance
a child s math basis teachers are giving activities that include counting. Asking question like Who has
more? and Are there enough? , start the foundation for young children to not only understand these
things in the classroom but even more so in the real world. Another way teachers enhance

Sexual Assault Prevention Seminar For College Students Essay
Violence against women is defined as any act of gender based violence that results in or is likely to
result in physical, sexual/psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of acts such as
coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private. Its dimensions
include physical, sexual, psychological/emotional and economic violence occurring in the family.
Violence against women includes domestic violence, child marriage, forced pregnancy, and other
violence perpetrated by someone other than an intimate partner, sexual harassment (Frieze 2000).
Female researchers such as Irene Frieze, Lisa Goodman, Lorraine Radtke, and Charleen Seen have
focused much of their work on researching violence against women. The main focus will be women
suffering from domestic violence and its effect as well as sexual assault prevention seminar for college
students and its impact. Victims of intimate partner violence and rape exhibit a variety of
psychological symptoms that are equivalent to other forms of trauma (ex. war and natural disasters).
Experiencing trauma related to violence, victims experience shock, denial, disbelief, fear, confusion,
and withdrawal (Frieze 2000). A number of victims are prone to becoming dependent and have a
difficult time decision making. Although a single maltreatment may lead to perpetual emotional
scarring, ongoing/ repetitive violence is likely to experience negative psychological changes (Frieze
2000).

Carbohydrate Diet Analysis
The second analysis of my diet has allowed me to observe aspects of my diet that can be improved in
order to sustain lifelong benefits and meet dietary recommendations. For carbohydrates, it is suggested
that I consume approximently 130 grams of carbohydrates a day, however, I averaged approximently
250 grams a day. While I averaged 56% of my calories from carbohydrates, which is within the
acceptable range of 45 65%, the amount I consumed was on the higher end of the accepted values.
Also, it is suggested that Americans consume less than 10% of their calories from added sugars each
day. In a 2400 calorie diet, this means less than 240 calories are derived from added sugars. According
to my food details report, I consumed less than 240 calories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Finally, while it is suggested consumers make about half of their grains whole grains, I failed to
consume that much. Rather, each day, my refined grains were atleast double that of my whole grains.
Moving forward, it is essential to ensure that I aim to make more of my carbohydrates benefiticial to
my diet. Consuming carbohydrates from foods such as whole wheat products, like whole wheat bread,
or vegatables, such as sweet potatoes, ensures an adequate amount of carbohydrates while putting
good nutrients into my body. Additionally, because added sugars are not essntial to the diet, it is
important to continue to lower the amount of added sugar consumed and derive natural sugars from
foods like fruits or milk, while eliminating foods high in added sugars such as cookies or ice cream.
While I failed to meet the recommendation of making half of daily grains whole grains, increasing this
can ensure I am meeting this recommendation and increase the amount of fiber in my diet. By doing
this, small changes such as eating whole wheat bread instead of white bread or eating brown rice
instead of white rice can benefit the quality of grains

The, The Biggest Loser, Big World, By Robert Bogdan
Little People, Big World and RuPaul s Drag Race, The Bachelor and Survivor, The Biggest Loser and
The Real World Miss America and American Idol it is difficult to watch American television in the
first decade of the twenty first century without encountering a freak. Britney Spears, called her 2009,
forty nine show tour through the US, Canada and the UK. Perhaps, more accurately, it is not so much
that the circus goes on as that the circus has been revived in the American imagination. According to
Robert Bogdan in his socio historical study of the freak show in America, the popularity of the circus
had run its course by the 1940s (60), attracting in its waning years a lower class of audience, such as
new American immigrants, the rural poor and the urban working class (55). The exhibition of freaks
had become morally incorrect. Strangely, at the turn of the twenty first century, America is revealing a
renewed fascination with freaks, a fascination that has not been so publicly apparent since the
Victorian era when freak exhibits were all the rage, and not just for backward country folk waiting for
the travelling circus to roll through town, but for sophisticated big city people who frequented P.T.
Barnum s famous American Museum at Broadway and Ann Street in New York City. This time

St Aquinas And Humanism
While we live in a world that idolizes popstars and political figures, we often forget about the men that
made our self expression possible. Humanism is defined as a philosophy that usually rejects
supernaturalism and stresses an individual s dignity and worth and capacity for self realization through
reason (Humanism). St. Francis and St. Aquinas were both key figures in the beginning of this
movement. Instead of reflecting on the holy they decided to look inward and also outward at the world
that surrounded them. St. Aquinas, St. Francis, and the impacts they had on humanism were
monumental and are worthy of discussion.
St. Aquinas started off his life in a wealthy family, but was always expected to go into a monastery.
His first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These beliefs gained him a rather large group of followers in a relatively short amount of time. He
believed that he should lead a life of poverty and that self denial would gain him true freedom. He
contributed heavily to society of his time, and today, with his idea of mendicant or mobile preaching,
instead of the centralized and permanent monasteries of the time. He also had an impact on the art of
his time period (1200 s). His reflection on the crucifixion and humanity of Christ made the artwork
portray those subjects with more realism and vividness. The Canticle of the Brother Sun filled his
followers, the Little Brothers, with hope as it was written in their language and discussed his love of
nature.
St. Aquinas and St. Francis both contributed heavily on the secular humanism we have now, but each
did so with a holy motivation. Aquinas separated faith and reason and for this it is said that he gave
rise to humanism and atheism, however, he believed in the integration of the two not a separation. He
believed that faith brings a certainty that cannot be obtained by reason alone. Sola scriptura was one of
his main beliefs which is that salvation comes by grace and through faith (Thomas Aquinas). While St.
Aquinas influenced the writings of his time, St. Francis has a larger impact on the vernacular arts of
his time. The arts became more vivid and realistic and portrayed the

The Use Of Subliminal Messages In Fairy Tales
What are Subliminal Messages that Convey to Girls?
As part of my Research I discovered articles and journals that reveal hidden message in fairy tales.
Many authors published their work on original versions of fairytales, the importance of beauty, white
supremacy in fairy tales, and teachings of adulthood. In some of the journals I selected were authors
who gave their own opinion on fairytales, and they used many sources from books and other articles.
This topic is very interesting because its unrecognized and fairytales is something children grow up
watching. Some of the sources I used speak upon the historical Grim brothers version tale and
classical tales. My objective is to expose fairytales and show their true meanings.
To accomplish my objective, I organized my paper into sections from eighteenth and nineteenth ...

The wolf has a sexual appetite when he sees little red riding hood in the woods. Later on, the wolf
disguised himself as her grandmother. Then the wolf waits for little red riding hood in her
grandmothers bed. The wolf told Little Red Riding hood Come and lie down and she undressed
herself and got in bed with him. When the wolf swallows the girl the theme of the story appears, the
dangers of sex. Little red riding hood gets a warning form the wolf not to run off the path and it
clearly states that he wants to take her virginity. The male in little red riding hood is portrayed as
ruthless.
Erich Fromm introduced the real meaning of the classic Little Red Riding Hood. Grimm brothers
wrote very dark tales and it inspired the Little Red Riding Hood we read today. Many children read
this story in school. What they don t know is what Grimm actually portrayed in the story. They are
many hidden messages in fairy tales, and Erich Fromm just revealed one for the community. Grimm

Stuart Daw Case
Question 1
Is there a way to estimate the cost of services and product to customers such that Stuart s Branded
Foods can be competitive in their market? Use the illustrations of the two customers to demonstrate
your approach. What would be the selling price per kit or per cup for each customer?
The costing approach should be based on per Transaction Basis rather than on per kit or per pound
basis because of the following reasons:
Current costs are allocated on a per kit basis, which is not an efficient cost allocation method.
Operational costs should be same irrespective of number of kits.
Equipment costs should be on a per kit basis as it depends on the number of kits sold.
Operational costs including Personnel costs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What impact might it have upon the business strategy of the firm?
If Stuart Daw adopts the Transaction based Pricing Strategy it may face the following impact
On Performance:
The price per cup for both small as well as large customers is reduced.
It can maintain competitiveness in the large customer segment by maintaining 15% Profit Margin.
Revenue stream generated from the customer segments may get impacted with changes in Transaction
Costs and subsequently Price per Kit.
Improved cost allocation will ensure that the company can maintain competitiveness without any
appreciation in costs to customers.
On Strategy:
The company should target to serve the large customer base with better profit margins and also choose
to serve those small customers who are willing to pay the targeted price per kit.
For difficult to serve small customers alternate and cost effective means of ordering, transporting and
fulfilling the orders should be sought.
Personnel costs, both direct and indirect should be brought under control.
Promote bulk orders among the small customers so that effective price/cup for small customers can be
brought down.
Question 3
What advice would you offer to Stuart Daw?
Our advice to Stuart Daw would be:
Stuart Daw should adopt the new Transaction Cost allocation mechanism, which will enable it to
remain competitive in the large customer segment.

The War On Drugs And Its Effect On Society
Humans have the tendency to wage war on anything which they thing has a negative Fulsy 7
effect on their society or which may affect their way of life. Before the 19th century, alcohol was
considered a product of religious relevance and individualistic satisfaction, but latter people realized it
was being abused and in 1914 the Narcotics Tax Act was introduce. And later the 18 amendment was
introduced prohibiting the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcohol with exception to religious
or medical use. This can be said to be the beginning of the war on drugs. A drug is a medicine or

Democrats on the other hand refuted these claims saying that it was a witch hunt against African
Americans and their leaders. Others claimed that Nixon was using the war on drugs as a way to
distract the nation from the things which were happening in his administration such as the Vietnam
War and also the scandals and allegations which surrounded him. Despite what the motives may have
been, the war on drugs led to an increase in incarceration, especially among African Americans, and
by so doing many families where destroyed and many African American children ended without
families and had to depend on gangs for shelter and protection. This widely increased the crime rates
since many people where unemployed. Christina Johns in her article clearly articulates that the war on
drugs was clearly a distraction from reality, a reality which was the abonnement and neglect of
minorities by the government. Johns explains that the Johns, Christina. The War on Drugs: Why the
Administration Continues to Pursue a Policy of Criminalization and Enforcement. Social Justice 18,
no. 4 (46) (1991): 147 65. war on drugs was actually a war on the minority population of Americans
and this war was effectively executed as many minorities today can barely get a job or even have an
admission to schools because they have a history of addiction. Therefore the so called war on drugs
initiated by the Nixon presidency was a failure.

What Is Historical Testimony
Introduction Perhaps, in one or the other, we all have experiences that we have gone through and they
completely altered our lives. Evidently, we all have some unforgettable experiences, with some having
the best and others have the worst kind of experiences. History is documented through the narration of
testimonies by the victims of the experiences. Over the years, there is a lot that has happened in the
world and all the occasions, there were people who were left to tell the stories. The holocaust is one of
the worst events in the world that people had to endure; millions of people were killed in cold blood
but there were survivors who lived to tell the story. Through their testimonies, we all get to know and
connect with their experiences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other testimonies have touch of joy and hope. Depending on the nature of the event the testimony is
being narrated, emotion vary as the testimony continue to be narrated. In the book Night by Elie
Wiesel, he raised some significant moral and ethical questions when he witnessed traumatic scenes
such as burning alive babies, young boy being hung, people fighting against one another for food,
which led to his loss of faith in god and humanity. In the video testimony of Renee, from around the
22th minute, until the one hour mark, the testimony is characterized by sad emotions but the emotions
changes to joyful in the 1.37 minutes mark, when she talks about the individual who used to help the
Jews. Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long
night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed. Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget
the little faces of the children, whose bodies I saw turned into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue
sky , (Wiesel, 1982.pg. 32) that s an example of sad emotion during a testimony. The testimony
intended audience also depends on the nature of the event. In most cases, the target audience of
testimonies are historians who document the events that have shaped the world in different
dimensions. Any other individuals

Female Sex Offenders
Most people tend to overlook women sex offenders compared to men who are sex offenders. Women
are just as likely to be a sex offender just as men are. Typically, women sex offenders tend to prey on
their students if they happen to be a school teacher. This gives them the access to hundreds of under
aged children every school year that they can prey on sometimes, be in an intimate relationship with
them. When someone hears something regarding a sex offender, we typically automatically assume it
is a male who committed the act and the crime. Males tend not to report their victimization, which
may affect statistics. Some men even feel societal pressure to be proud of early sexual activity,

About ninety five percent of people who are unwilling being forced into sex are usually young
women. Many people tend to stereotype women being caring, harmless, and trusting compared to
men. While the rates of sexual acts being forced by women are lower compared to men, they do still
commit the illegal activity upon others. Many female sex offenders tend to be younger aged compared
to male sex offenders. The average age of female sex offenders is about thirty six years old and tend to
be friends, family, or acquaintances of the victim. Female sex offenders tend to persuade their victims
easier than male sex offenders since females are usually motherly and nurturing, making them seem
more trustworthy. It tends to be more difficult to distinguish a female sex offender compared to female
sex offenders. Female sex offenders are usually under reported, unrecognizable and considered more
ethically acceptable than male abuse, according to an article on

The issue for the last critique article is, Is there a Narcissism Epidemic among contemporary young

analyses examining self reports of anxiety and neuroticism. Jean M. Twenge finding demonstrate that
both college students and schoolchildren report increases in these characteristic. Her suggestion was
low social connectedness and environmental threats are responsible for these changes. I feel as though
this is agreeable because I think all college students come to college with anxiety and neuroticism, and
reasons because of low social connectedness, and environmental threat. Social connectedness model
focuses on social exclusion as particularly important to anxiety. When you exclude that social

How Did The Stamp Act Cause Human Conflict
Human conflict is certain to occur, if taxation continues. The American Revolution (1775 1783) and
the French Revolution (1789 1799) are great examples to demonstrate conflict regarding this cause.
Concerning the American Revolution, On March 22nd 1765, the British Parliament issued a law called
the Stamp Act that applied to the American colonies, known as the 13 colonies. This law required a
tax on all printer paper, which some include, magazines, newspapers and to the extreme in which
playing cards was also taxed. This law was acquired as a result of the British Empire having major
debt thus the Seven Year s War, which occurred in the years 1756 through 1763. The British decided
to tax the Americans, as they believed it was necessary as a result of the colonies obtaining advantages

Further more, On October 1765, twenty seven representatives came together and agreed upon fourteen
resolutions, which was directly sent to the King and the parliament. This attempt was known as the
Stamp Act Congress. The reason why the act has lead to cause certain conflict to occur is because; the
Americans claimed that only the American representative is capable of taxing the people, in which
they called it
. The colonies asserted that this act is unlawful leading a mob to be held to threaten the stamp
collectors in attempt to prevent this act from occurring any further. The cost of the tax was little, but
what aggravated the American colonies and created more conflict was the fact that, the British had an
attempt to raise money without the endorsement of the legislatures. Regarding the French Revolution,
the French government divided itself upon three groups, the first (nobles), second (clergy) and the
third state (peasants). Since the French were bankrupt, the first and second

The Importance Of Social Class, Race And Family Life
Race and class can play powerful roles in people s family experiences. Race is defined as a socially
constructed category of individuals who share common inborn biological traits (Newman 2009). Class
is defined as groups of people who share a similar position in society based on their wealth and
income (Newman 2009). Social class and race shape family lives in many ways, which in return
reproduces class and race inequalities. In Annette Lareau s study of families, she uses real stories of
real families to show important social patterns. All families want their children to be happy, healthy,
and grow. Social classes make a difference in how parents go about meeting this goal. In Annette
Lareau book, Unequal Childhoods: Class, Race, and Family Life, she promotes middle class parents
as concerted cultivation. Middle class parents encourage their children s talents, opinions, and skills.
For example, engaging their children in organized activities and closely monitoring children s
experiences in school. According to Lareau, middle class children gain an emerging sense of
entitlement through this pattern of converted cultivation. This causes a focus on children s individual
development. There are signs that the middle class children gain advantages from the experience of
concerted cultivation. However, the working class and poor children do not gain this advantage. A lot
of the inequalities that are produced are in social classes. According to Lareau, the middle class is

In one sudden movement, I found myself lying down. From what had once been a still and
contemplative stare forward, I suddenly had no recollection of how I landed with my eyes observing
upwards with my head at a ninety degree angle from the ground. I became aware of how finely cut the
edges of the Drakensburg wild grass were, as they sliced through the thick hair on my head and legs,
pushing eagerly towards my scalp and skin, pulling me further into the ground, returning me. I became

the use of similar devices and themes, the reader is able to understand, analyze, and compare and
contrast the complementary approach that has been taken in both stories. Camus uses a more informal
word choice in The Stranger, and a more formal word choice in The Myth of Sisyphus . Here, while

It was pleasant; the coffee had warmed me up, and the smell of flowers on the night air was coming
through the open door. I think I dozed off a little. (Camus,14). In this use of imagery, you can see how
Meursault obviously feels about his mother, as there is a lack of interest or even empathy. In The Myth
of the Sisyphus , Camus takes another route, but still uses heavy visual imagery. In this quote, the
narrator explains that through coercion, Sisyphus is able to talk the Gods into letting him visit his wife
one more time before he has to return to the underworld. But when he had seen again the face of this
world, he enjoyed the water and sun, warm stones and sea, he no longer wanted to go back to the
infernal darkness...Many years more he lived facing the curve of the gulf, the sparkling sea, and the
smiles of the earth. (Myth of Sisyphus). Though this imagery, the reader is able to tell that Sisyphus is
a master of trickery, and that he feels better than the Gods because he can outsmart them by telling a
simple lie. When he does, he is obviously pleased with himself because he now gets to live in the sun,
and by the sea with his wife. This ties directly into some of the meaning behind existentialism and
how the only hope for meaning in one s life lies with the individual who can construct in. Camus uses
the undeniable underlying theme of existentialism in both pieces, but adds absurdism within The Myth
of Sisyphus . Considering that in both the stories the

Persuasive Essay On Owning A Car
WELL BEING Leasing a car is one way to finance a new automobile. When you lease a car, your
payments are determined by the portion of the life of the car that you actually use: the depreciation of
the car over the period of time that you are leasing. Therefore, with a lease, you can drive a more
expensive car with lower payments, sometimes. However, a key point to remember is that you do not
own the car when you lease. Leasing is like renting. You rent the car for a certain period of time, but
you are also responsible for a down payment and some taxes and fees very similar to a security
deposit on an apartment. At the end of the lease contract (or rental agreement), you give the vehicle
back and you may be charged for any excessive wear on the vehicle. Your initial money down will not
be applied to these charges. These will be additional charges due at the time you return the car.
Furthermore, you are limited to driving the number of miles specified in your contract.
If you exceed the total mileage allowed in the lease, you will pay additional fees per mile that you
went beyond the limit. This can become expensive! Some lease contracts may also include a turn in
fee. A closedend lease will allow you the option of purchasing the car at the end of the lease. If you
choose to purchase the car, you will have a credit applied to the payments you have made previously,
but you will still have to negotiate the purchase price. If you do not have a closed end lease, you will
need

Who Was Responsible For Lucifer s Downfall
Augustine on the doctrine of primal sin focuses on the downfall of Lucifer, in whether he foresaw that
his actions would entail a consequence in denying God. For it is arguable that Lucifer did foresee his
coming downfall. Because his intentional actions in turning away from God went against his angelic
nature, implicating Lucifer deliberately deprived himself of what he knew was the greatest of goods,
and avidly sought out the opposite. For Lucifer perversely chose to abandon all that is good by turning
away from God, and towards what is contrary to God. That in which, I will argue from the doctrines of
Augustine, (Book 12 of the city of God) that Lucifer did foresee his coming downfall. For his
downfall begun with bolstering the vices of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Lucifer s nature was meant to be prideful, God would not have punished him. For Lucifer would be
flourishing to the degree of goodness that is written into his particular being. For this particular nature
would have been purposely authored from God, and Augustine explains that no one suffers
punishment for faults of nature . However, given that Lucifer s angelic nature yearns to to cleave to
God, demonstrates how he deliberately chose to reject his nature by turning away from God. For
Lucifer possesses the faculties of reasoning to distinguish what is righteous from what is unrighteous .
That in which, Lucifer fully understands that he is choosing to embrace misery by neglecting his
angelic nature is cleaving to God. For Augustine s asserts that Vices are contrary to God , this is
demonstrated by the intention of Lucifer practicing the vices of pride, which goes against everything
that he knows is good by. For the vices contradict all that is good, and to partake in them results in
misery. This in effect demonstrates how pride cannot be an aspect of Lucifer s Angelic nature, but
rather how the vices must be deliberately performed from the will itself. Consequently, Lucifer than is
not prideful by nature, rather he chose to habitually embrace the vice which led him to rejecting God,
and his angelic

Recruitment of competent RN staff will ensure safe patient care (Markey, 2012). It is important to
fully evaluate each candidate and not rush to fill the position.
Current Recruitment Process The facility I work in has a posting and selection policy that we follow in
order to ensure that candidates are fairly identified and considered for employment, promotion, or
transfer opportunities. This applies for both internal and external candidates. The first step is for the
nurse manager to make a request from upper management the need to post an opening. Upon receiving
approval, the nurse manager then decides whether to post approved open positions within the
department for three (3) calendar days or to post within the organization for seven (7) calendar days.
Appropriate approvals authorize recruitment activity for up to six (6) months.
Internal Recruitment and Selection Process If posted within the department, applicants submit an
Internal Application form directly to the hiring manager within the three days the position is posted
within the department. If posted within the department and there are no qualified applicants, the

Husband of Rita Slobonik nee Goldrick. Resting at Kenwick Funeral Home with visitation from two

I lost my wife a year ago. I had it figured. I d go at five minutes to nine when everyone had cleared
out. But would she remember me? It had been twenty five years. I thought of her every day. We d
gone together for six or seven months and split because I was a damn immature fool. I was going to

I heard your wife died about a year ago.
With my arms around her, in condolence, I kissed her lightly on her cheek and she responded with a
kiss smack on my lips. That was when words popped from my mouth, words I hadn t considered: Will
you marry me?
An expression of ambivalence left me feeling a damn stupid fool, again.
I was looking at the empty casket, save for a small brass urn inside. Cremation? I asked.
Indeed, she replied, no doubt you heard about George?
No.
One is not supposed to speak ill of the dead, but our marriage was dead. His extramarital activities
caught up. It was either cirrhosis of the liver or HIV. The doctor concluded HIV won. We haven t been
together for over three years. I m only here because he had no one else.
Yes, I will marry you. I ve thought about you many times. Do we start where we left off, and how s
your car? she asked with a grin.
I just bought a new Tesla.
Okay, with a ring we can get married. A week Saturday soon enough?
Yes, I answered, but may I inquire, would you accept my wife s ring?
She looked at me with an expression that included pinched lips.
The next day I attended the funeral and Rita managed to avoid me completely. Her friends gave me
the cold shoulder. Two weeks went by. I was unable to make contact. How dumb can a guy get? It
took that long to realize I d been dumped. This time I guess it was her turn.

To What Extent Is Growing Through Integration with Other...
To what extent is growing through integration with other businesses a good way for a firm to increase
its competitiveness?
Growing through integration is concerned with mergers and takeovers of businesses. There are a
number of different ways of integrating: Horizontal (same industry, same stage of production),
backward vertical (same industry towards a supplier), forward vertical (same industry towards the
customer) and Conglomerate (different industries).
Growing through integration can have a positive effect on the competitiveness of a business in that
firms are able to buy out or merge with other large powers in the market to make a super power in the

This overall suggests that the integration of the two businesses has made them more competitive.
Integration could also benefit business competitiveness in that it is an extremely fast way for a
business to grow. In many industries the first mover advantage is crucial to any business that wants to
capitalise on other areas of the industry that have not yet been exploited. If one firm manages to utilise
the first mover advantage other firms may be left behind and so may struggle to compete in a certain
area. However if a firm was to buy out competition then they would have less of a problem trying to
establish themselves in the area. Asda recently took over Netto for a figure of ÂŁ778mil. The move saw
Asda instantly take over the 193 Netto stores across the UK many of which are small high street shops
compared to the typical supermarket stores that Asda currently operates. The move will allow Asda to
compete with other high street stores such as Tesco express and Sainsbury s division of small high
street stores. Without the takeover Asda would have found it incredibly difficult to establish
themselves in this area of the industry. However Asda now have bought into an number of stores that
will be situated across the UK and will be able to compete with the likes of Tesco and Sainsbury s.
The takeover has also gained Asda a further 0.7% share in the market

I Am A Good Problem Solver And I Have An Analytical Brain
About 3 weeks ago
Many people have different reasons to apply for staff. Mine will sound a little cheesy but its true. I
purely enjoy helping people. It gives me a sense of gratitude when I show someone how to do things
the right way or help someone with their issues. I am a good problem solver and I have an analytical
brain. These traits make my job easy and fun. I know that staff isn t meant to be a fun job, but keeping
a cheerful attitude on job and being friendly to players makes more people want to come back to the
server. I have two modes when being staff; one cheery light mood when I joke around and talk with
players and a serious mood when dealing with issues. I NEVER allow these two to mix together
because that could jeopardize my position and probably annoy some players. Lastly, I know that
certain people apply for the rank because they think it will bring them respect and make them cool. I
have never considered this as a reason to apply and I frankly hate these types of people. They often
end up abusing their power and getting banned. I have never abused and will never abuse. I am
applying because I believe that I have what it takes to help the server.
Why should we choose you to become staff instead of someone else?
To begin with, I feel I should take part in the staffing community here because I ensure a large portion
of qualified time as well as extreme experiences and a sincere inclination in moderating over the chat

The Damned Thing Literary Devices
In Ambrose Bierce s short story, The Damned Thing, specific writing choices allow the reader into
believing the unimaginable. The use of literary devices is essential to illustrate what the narrator and
the reader cannot see. In doing so, the terms used to articulate the indescribable are thought provoking.
How do humans view the natural world? Throughout the section on page 47, Shadows of Carcosa,
Bierce shatters the quintessential monster archetype, by creating a beast that the human eye cannot
see. Through the use of descriptive language, characters, setting, style and tone, Bierce produces a
piece of work that goes against the normative horror story.
On page 47, there is extensive detail of everything but the creature. I was ... Show more content on

As the narrator Williams Harker shadows Hugh Morgan, he becomes aware that Morgan is severely
frightened. What is it? What the devil is it? I asked. That Damned Thing! he replied, without turning
his head. His voice was husky and unnatural. He trembled visibly (page 47). This quote highlights
Morgan s role in the making of the creature. Bierce needs Morgan s character to illustrate the presence
of a mysterious creature. Through Morgan s reaction and Harker s witness to the strange
circumstances, Bierce makes the characters reliable. If the story was based solely off of Morgan s
journal, the reader would chalk it up to Morgan going mad. Likewise, if the recount was solely based
off of Harker s testimony, the reader would be inclined to believe he had gone mad. Bierce s use of
Harker s character and the journal verifies the bizarre happenings. Additionally, Harker and Morgan
are used to advance the imagery of the imperceptible being. Before the smoke of the discharge had
cleared away I heard a loud savage cry a scream like that of a wild animal and flinging his gun upon
the ground Morgan sprang away and ran swiftly from the spot. At the same instant I was thrown
violently to the ground by the impact of something unseen in the smoke some soft, heavy substance
that seemed thrown against me with great force. Here we see that even though the characters
themselves cannot see the creature, through their circumstances the

Pharmaceutical Industry and Merck
Merck, being on one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world today, came from a meek
beginning and still encounters many problems today while trying to maintain a lead amongst its
competition. While being looked at as a research and development driven company, Merck now has to
go beyond R D to stay competitive in the pharmaceutical industry. Attracting talent to work for the
company has never been a problem for Merck, but the bigger question was whether or not this talent
would be able to keep Merck s profits at a maximum and keep developing drugs in the pipeline.

Weaknesses:
Although Merck has encountered success, the organization has confronted weaknesses and
disappointments. One weakness that Merck has confronted is the duration of the drug development,
the value of the drug being evaluated and the length of the FDA application for drug approval. For
example, of the 5,000 molecules that are discovered, only couple of hundred are investigated, only one
enters into the market and only a third becomes a marketable success (Gilbert and Sarkar 3). A drug
development time may take on average over 15 years and expenditure R D total costs of about $880
million (Gilbert and Sarkar 2) (Exhibit 3). The length for and FDA application is at least 100,000
pages, which details the potential drug s usage, production, formula and labeling. Another weakness
with Merck is that too much power is given to scientists in decision making of candidate drugs. The
MRL was somewhat the main decision makers in organizing the drug development process including
final say on whether Phase V or post evaluation drug studies could be used. MRL, at one time, did not
show a lot of emphasis on Phase V and wanted to move on after Phase III. Figures like Per Wold
Olsen, President of Human Health Europe, had to fight to get approval and funding for Phase V
research. The third weakness is the inadequacies and lack of communication between marketing and
research. For

Peru Human Development
Analyzing data Peru s Human Development Report from the United Nations Development
Programme, one can learn a lot about a country. Human Development Index (HDI) is a summary used
to assess progress in three basic dimensions of human development; which consists of a long and
healthy life, knowledge and average standards of living. A long and healthy life is measured by life
expectancy at birth, knowledge level is measured by the years of education among the adult
population. Overall Peru s HDI value for 2015 is 0.740 which is a high human development category
ranking 87 out of 188 countries and territories. Between 1990 and 2015 this index increased 20.7
percent due to the increase in life expectancy at birth by 9.3 years, mean years of schooling increased
by 2.4 years and expected years of schooling increased by 1.5 years. This is a great improvement for a
country and is expected to keep thriving in this category. In 2010 the Human Development Report
(HDR) introduced the Gender Inequality Index (GII) to reflect gender based inequalities in three
categories, such as reproductive health, empowerment, and economic activity. ... Show more content

The Heroic Significance of Christ in The Dream of the Rood
Incorporating traditional Anglo Saxon beliefs of heroism with the image of Christ on the cross allows
the poet of The Dream of the Rood to effectively communicate the benefits of Christianity to pagan
warriors. By comparing characteristics, duties, and treatment of heroes in Beowulf and the Battle of
Maldon to the depiction of Christ in The Dream of the Rood, it becomes evident that the image of
Christ is altered to mirror that of heroic warriors. Through this melding of heroic beliefs and
Christianity, the poet of Rood is able to show how Christ can become the ultimate ring giver or Lord.

The Christ depicted in this passage willingly accepts his battle on the cross and because of this act the
poet then goes on to describe Christ as a warrior , strong, and stouthearted. Christ is not portrayed as a
meek and humble man resigned to his task as savior and lord. Within this portion of the text, he
becomes a bold warrior climbing the cross as if going into battle. At the end of the poem, the narrator
looks to Christ and the cross for protection.
Furthermore, the primary duty of a hero is to provide his kinsmen with great treasure and weaponry.
Beowulf fulfills this duty by stating Behold this treasure #8230; that I have been allowed to leave my
people #8230; (Beowulf 91) to Wiglaf after defeating the dragon. The warriors in The Battle of
Maldon describe their Lord and hero as a treasure giver, and also a ring giver. The warriors in both of
these texts reflect on all that their lords or heroes provide for them. It is through this gratification for
material wealth that kinsmen feel so indebted to fighting for their lord. Wiglaf illustrates this concept
when he remembers the bountiful gifts bestowed upon him (Beowulf 88) and finds that he could not
hold back (Beowulf 88) from his lord s side. Christ also fulfills this duty of a hero by bestowing many
wonderful gifts and treasures upon any man who will follow Him faithfully. The treasures described in
the poem

Sodium Nitrate Lab Report Solution
To start off, sodium nitrate is considered more soluble than sodium chloride. To start off the
experiment, a test tube is filled with exactly 10 mL of water. With a scooper, add one scoop of sodium
chloride and put a rubber stopper on the top of the test tube. Shake the test tube until you no longer see
substances at the bottom. Repeat the steps for the sodium chloride until the solution is no longer
soluble and there is still some at the bottom. Before the lab began, the amount of sodium chloride in
the container weighed 70.5 grams. After adding all four scoops of sodium chloride it was not longer
soluble. After adding the four scoops, the container weighed 67.6 grams and the amount of the sodium

To concluded, the sodium nitrate was more soluble than the sodium chloride because it took 8.7 grams
to saturate the sodium nitrate, while it took only 2.9 grams to saturate the sodium chloride.
Conclusion: 1.) Are different substances equally soluble in water? Explain.
Different substances are not equally soluble in water because each substance dissolves differently. For
example the sodium nitrate took longer to dissolve than the sodium chloride because they are different
substances. Some substances also may not dissolve at all in water. Also, substances have all different
types of shapes and sizes, and larger substances may take longer to dissolve than smaller ones.
2.) How could you use the property of solubility to help identify the type of matter?
There are many ways that one can use the property of solubility to help identify the type of matter.
One way is to put the matter into water and shake it to see if it is soluble. Another way is to observe
the matter and see the different shapes and colors that it has. Seeing if it is soluble in water and by
observing the colors and shape one can narrow down what type of matter it is.
3.) What were two likely sources of error for this experiment?
There are many likely sources of error that could have occured while doing this experiment. One error
was that some of the substances were spilled on the table. The substances were left on the table
throughout the experiment and it was never cleaned up.

  • 2. Piaget Cognitive Theory Piaget s Theory used in Mathematics Today Piaget took an interest in children s cognitive development and came up with his theory of Cognitive Development; the Cognitive Development theory consists of the four stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete Operational, and Formal Operational (Ghazi Ullah, 2016, pg. 1). Jean Piaget s cognitive theory has a wide array of effects on children s learning in mathematics that are applicable to teaching today. Teachers today use different strategies and teaching methods based on what stage children are in. I will discuss each of the stages and how teachers use them in math today. The first stage is the sensorimotor stage, which takes place between the age of zero to two, and is where children understand perception and awareness of the environment through physical actions and the manipulation of objects (Ghazi Ullah, 2016, pg. 1). In the sensorimotor stage, the most important thing to understand is the idea of object permanence and understanding that even when the child cannot see the object they are still able to find it. Also, in this stage they begin to associate numbers with objects and they understand counting. In order to enhance a child s math basis teachers are giving activities that include counting. Asking question like Who has more? and Are there enough? , start the foundation for young children to not only understand these things in the classroom but even more so in the real world. Another way teachers enhance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sexual Assault Prevention Seminar For College Students Essay Violence against women is defined as any act of gender based violence that results in or is likely to result in physical, sexual/psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of acts such as coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private. Its dimensions include physical, sexual, psychological/emotional and economic violence occurring in the family. Violence against women includes domestic violence, child marriage, forced pregnancy, and other violence perpetrated by someone other than an intimate partner, sexual harassment (Frieze 2000). Female researchers such as Irene Frieze, Lisa Goodman, Lorraine Radtke, and Charleen Seen have focused much of their work on researching violence against women. The main focus will be women suffering from domestic violence and its effect as well as sexual assault prevention seminar for college students and its impact. Victims of intimate partner violence and rape exhibit a variety of psychological symptoms that are equivalent to other forms of trauma (ex. war and natural disasters). Experiencing trauma related to violence, victims experience shock, denial, disbelief, fear, confusion, and withdrawal (Frieze 2000). A number of victims are prone to becoming dependent and have a difficult time decision making. Although a single maltreatment may lead to perpetual emotional scarring, ongoing/ repetitive violence is likely to experience negative psychological changes (Frieze 2000). The impact ... • 4. Carbohydrate Diet Analysis The second analysis of my diet has allowed me to observe aspects of my diet that can be improved in order to sustain lifelong benefits and meet dietary recommendations. For carbohydrates, it is suggested that I consume approximently 130 grams of carbohydrates a day, however, I averaged approximently 250 grams a day. While I averaged 56% of my calories from carbohydrates, which is within the acceptable range of 45 65%, the amount I consumed was on the higher end of the accepted values. Also, it is suggested that Americans consume less than 10% of their calories from added sugars each day. In a 2400 calorie diet, this means less than 240 calories are derived from added sugars. According to my food details report, I consumed less than 240 calories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, while it is suggested consumers make about half of their grains whole grains, I failed to consume that much. Rather, each day, my refined grains were atleast double that of my whole grains. Moving forward, it is essential to ensure that I aim to make more of my carbohydrates benefiticial to my diet. Consuming carbohydrates from foods such as whole wheat products, like whole wheat bread, or vegatables, such as sweet potatoes, ensures an adequate amount of carbohydrates while putting good nutrients into my body. Additionally, because added sugars are not essntial to the diet, it is important to continue to lower the amount of added sugar consumed and derive natural sugars from foods like fruits or milk, while eliminating foods high in added sugars such as cookies or ice cream. While I failed to meet the recommendation of making half of daily grains whole grains, increasing this can ensure I am meeting this recommendation and increase the amount of fiber in my diet. By doing this, small changes such as eating whole wheat bread instead of white bread or eating brown rice instead of white rice can benefit the quality of grains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The, The Biggest Loser, Big World, By Robert Bogdan Little People, Big World and RuPaul s Drag Race, The Bachelor and Survivor, The Biggest Loser and The Real World Miss America and American Idol it is difficult to watch American television in the first decade of the twenty first century without encountering a freak. Britney Spears, called her 2009, forty nine show tour through the US, Canada and the UK. Perhaps, more accurately, it is not so much that the circus goes on as that the circus has been revived in the American imagination. According to Robert Bogdan in his socio historical study of the freak show in America, the popularity of the circus had run its course by the 1940s (60), attracting in its waning years a lower class of audience, such as new American immigrants, the rural poor and the urban working class (55). The exhibition of freaks had become morally incorrect. Strangely, at the turn of the twenty first century, America is revealing a renewed fascination with freaks, a fascination that has not been so publicly apparent since the Victorian era when freak exhibits were all the rage, and not just for backward country folk waiting for the travelling circus to roll through town, but for sophisticated big city people who frequented P.T. Barnum s famous American Museum at Broadway and Ann Street in New York City. This time around, it is middle America enjoying the circus on their wide screen televisions in the privileged privacy of their dens and theater rooms. As the vast array of freaks in the ... • 6. St Aquinas And Humanism While we live in a world that idolizes popstars and political figures, we often forget about the men that made our self expression possible. Humanism is defined as a philosophy that usually rejects supernaturalism and stresses an individual s dignity and worth and capacity for self realization through reason (Humanism). St. Francis and St. Aquinas were both key figures in the beginning of this movement. Instead of reflecting on the holy they decided to look inward and also outward at the world that surrounded them. St. Aquinas, St. Francis, and the impacts they had on humanism were monumental and are worthy of discussion. St. Aquinas started off his life in a wealthy family, but was always expected to go into a monastery. His first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These beliefs gained him a rather large group of followers in a relatively short amount of time. He believed that he should lead a life of poverty and that self denial would gain him true freedom. He contributed heavily to society of his time, and today, with his idea of mendicant or mobile preaching, instead of the centralized and permanent monasteries of the time. He also had an impact on the art of his time period (1200 s). His reflection on the crucifixion and humanity of Christ made the artwork portray those subjects with more realism and vividness. The Canticle of the Brother Sun filled his followers, the Little Brothers, with hope as it was written in their language and discussed his love of nature. St. Aquinas and St. Francis both contributed heavily on the secular humanism we have now, but each did so with a holy motivation. Aquinas separated faith and reason and for this it is said that he gave rise to humanism and atheism, however, he believed in the integration of the two not a separation. He believed that faith brings a certainty that cannot be obtained by reason alone. Sola scriptura was one of his main beliefs which is that salvation comes by grace and through faith (Thomas Aquinas). While St. Aquinas influenced the writings of his time, St. Francis has a larger impact on the vernacular arts of his time. The arts became more vivid and realistic and portrayed the ... As part of my Research I discovered articles and journals that reveal hidden message in fairy tales. Many authors published their work on original versions of fairytales, the importance of beauty, white supremacy in fairy tales, and teachings of adulthood. In some of the journals I selected were authors who gave their own opinion on fairytales, and they used many sources from books and other articles. This topic is very interesting because its unrecognized and fairytales is something children grow up watching. Some of the sources I used speak upon the historical Grim brothers version tale and classical tales. My objective is to expose fairytales and show their true meanings. To accomplish my objective, I organized my paper into sections from eighteenth and nineteenth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Use the illustrations of the two customers to demonstrate your approach. What would be the selling price per kit or per cup for each customer? The costing approach should be based on per Transaction Basis rather than on per kit or per pound basis because of the following reasons: Current costs are allocated on a per kit basis, which is not an efficient cost allocation method. Operational costs should be same irrespective of number of kits. Equipment costs should be on a per kit basis as it depends on the number of kits sold. Operational costs including Personnel costs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What impact might it have upon the business strategy of the firm? If Stuart Daw adopts the Transaction based Pricing Strategy it may face the following impact On Performance: The price per cup for both small as well as large customers is reduced. Race is defined as a socially constructed category of individuals who share common inborn biological traits (Newman 2009). Class is defined as groups of people who share a similar position in society based on their wealth and income (Newman 2009). Social class and race shape family lives in many ways, which in return reproduces class and race inequalities. In Annette Lareau s study of families, she uses real stories of real families to show important social patterns. All families want their children to be happy, healthy, and grow. Social classes make a difference in how parents go about meeting this goal. In Annette Lareau book, Unequal Childhoods: Class, Race, and Family Life, she promotes middle class parents as concerted cultivation. Middle class parents encourage their children s talents, opinions, and skills. For example, engaging their children in organized activities and closely monitoring children s experiences in school. According to Lareau, middle class children gain an emerging sense of entitlement through this pattern of converted cultivation. This causes a focus on children s individual development. In The Myth of the Sisyphus , Camus takes another route, but still uses heavy visual imagery. In this quote, the narrator explains that through coercion, Sisyphus is able to talk the Gods into letting him visit his wife one more time before he has to return to the underworld. When he does, he is obviously pleased with himself because he now gets to live in the sun, and by the sea with his wife. This ties directly into some of the meaning behind existentialism and how the only hope for meaning in one s life lies with the individual who can construct in. • 23. Persuasive Essay On Owning A Car WELL BEING Leasing a car is one way to finance a new automobile. When you lease a car, your payments are determined by the portion of the life of the car that you actually use: the depreciation of the car over the period of time that you are leasing. Therefore, with a lease, you can drive a more expensive car with lower payments, sometimes. However, a key point to remember is that you do not own the car when you lease. Leasing is like renting. You rent the car for a certain period of time, but you are also responsible for a down payment and some taxes and fees very similar to a security deposit on an apartment. At the end of the lease contract (or rental agreement), you give the vehicle back and you may be charged for any excessive wear on the vehicle. Your initial money down will not be applied to these charges. These will be additional charges due at the time you return the car. Furthermore, you are limited to driving the number of miles specified in your contract. If you exceed the total mileage allowed in the lease, you will pay additional fees per mile that you went beyond the limit. This can become expensive! Some lease contracts may also include a turn in fee. A closedend lease will allow you the option of purchasing the car at the end of the lease. • 30. I Am A Good Problem Solver And I Have An Analytical Brain About 3 weeks ago Many people have different reasons to apply for staff. Mine will sound a little cheesy but its true. I purely enjoy helping people. It gives me a sense of gratitude when I show someone how to do things the right way or help someone with their issues. I am a good problem solver and I have an analytical brain. These traits make my job easy and fun. I know that staff isn t meant to be a fun job, but keeping a cheerful attitude on job and being friendly to players makes more people want to come back to the server. I have two modes when being staff; one cheery light mood when I joke around and talk with players and a serious mood when dealing with issues. I NEVER allow these two to mix together because that could jeopardize my position and probably annoy some players. Lastly, I know that certain people apply for the rank because they think it will bring them respect and make them cool. I have never considered this as a reason to apply and I frankly hate these types of people. They often end up abusing their power and getting banned. I have never abused and will never abuse. I am applying because I believe that I have what it takes to help the server. Why should we choose you to become staff instead of someone else? To begin with, I feel I should take part in the staffing community here because I ensure a large portion of qualified time as well as extreme experiences and a sincere inclination in moderating over the chat and providing the necessary satisfaction ... • 31. The Damned Thing Literary Devices In Ambrose Bierce s short story, The Damned Thing, specific writing choices allow the reader into believing the unimaginable. The use of literary devices is essential to illustrate what the narrator and the reader cannot see. In doing so, the terms used to articulate the indescribable are thought provoking. How do humans view the natural world? Throughout the section on page 47, Shadows of Carcosa, Bierce shatters the quintessential monster archetype, by creating a beast that the human eye cannot see. Through the use of descriptive language, characters, setting, style and tone, Bierce produces a piece of work that goes against the normative horror story. On page 47, there is extensive detail of everything but the creature. I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the narrator Williams Harker shadows Hugh Morgan, he becomes aware that Morgan is severely frightened. What is it? What the devil is it? I asked. That Damned Thing! he replied, without turning his head. His voice was husky and unnatural. He trembled visibly (page 47). This quote highlights Morgan s role in the making of the creature. Bierce needs Morgan s character to illustrate the presence of a mysterious creature. Through Morgan s reaction and Harker s witness to the strange circumstances, Bierce makes the characters reliable. If the story was based solely off of Morgan s journal, the reader would chalk it up to Morgan going mad. Likewise, if the recount was solely based off of Harker s testimony, the reader would be inclined to believe he had gone mad. Bierce s use of Harker s character and the journal verifies the bizarre happenings. Additionally, Harker and Morgan are used to advance the imagery of the imperceptible being. Before the smoke of the discharge had cleared away I heard a loud savage cry a scream like that of a wild animal and flinging his gun upon the ground Morgan sprang away and ran swiftly from the spot. At the same instant I was thrown violently to the ground by the impact of something unseen in the smoke some soft, heavy substance that seemed thrown against me with great force. Here we see that even though the characters themselves cannot see the creature, through their circumstances the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Pharmaceutical Industry and Merck Merck, being on one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world today, came from a meek beginning and still encounters many problems today while trying to maintain a lead amongst its competition. While being looked at as a research and development driven company, Merck now has to go beyond R D to stay competitive in the pharmaceutical industry. Attracting talent to work for the company has never been a problem for Merck, but the bigger question was whether or not this talent would be able to keep Merck s profits at a maximum and keep developing drugs in the pipeline. Through the late 80 s to early 90 s, Merck was able to boast profits and sales through biochemistry drugs that were seen as breakthrough drugs in this new market. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Weaknesses: Although Merck has encountered success, the organization has confronted weaknesses and disappointments. One weakness that Merck has confronted is the duration of the drug development, the value of the drug being evaluated and the length of the FDA application for drug approval. For example, of the 5,000 molecules that are discovered, only couple of hundred are investigated, only one enters into the market and only a third becomes a marketable success (Gilbert and Sarkar 3). A drug development time may take on average over 15 years and expenditure R D total costs of about $880 million (Gilbert and Sarkar 2) (Exhibit 3). The length for and FDA application is at least 100,000 pages, which details the potential drug s usage, production, formula and labeling. Another weakness with Merck is that too much power is given to scientists in decision making of candidate drugs. The MRL was somewhat the main decision makers in organizing the drug development process including final say on whether Phase V or post evaluation drug studies could be used. MRL, at one time, did not show a lot of emphasis on Phase V and wanted to move on after Phase III. Figures like Per Wold Olsen, President of Human Health Europe, had to fight to get approval and funding for Phase V research. The third weakness is the inadequacies and lack of communication between marketing and research. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Peru Human Development Analyzing data Peru s Human Development Report from the United Nations Development Programme, one can learn a lot about a country. Human Development Index (HDI) is a summary used to assess progress in three basic dimensions of human development; which consists of a long and healthy life, knowledge and average standards of living. A long and healthy life is measured by life expectancy at birth, knowledge level is measured by the years of education among the adult population. Overall Peru s HDI value for 2015 is 0.740 which is a high human development category ranking 87 out of 188 countries and territories. Between 1990 and 2015 this index increased 20.7 percent due to the increase in life expectancy at birth by 9.3 years, mean years of schooling increased by 2.4 years and expected years of schooling increased by 1.5 years. This is a great improvement for a country and is expected to keep thriving in this category. In 2010 the Human Development Report (HDR) introduced the Gender Inequality Index (GII) to reflect gender based inequalities in three categories, such as reproductive health, empowerment, and economic activity. ... The Heroic Significance of Christ in The Dream of the Rood Incorporating traditional Anglo Saxon beliefs of heroism with the image of Christ on the cross allows the poet of The Dream of the Rood to effectively communicate the benefits of Christianity to pagan warriors. By comparing characteristics, duties, and treatment of heroes in Beowulf and the Battle of Maldon to the depiction of Christ in The Dream of the Rood, it becomes evident that the image of Christ is altered to mirror that of heroic warriors. Through this melding of heroic beliefs and Christianity, the poet of Rood is able to show how Christ can become the ultimate ring giver or Lord. The Christ depicted in this passage willingly accepts his battle on the cross and because of this act the poet then goes on to describe Christ as a warrior , strong, and stouthearted. Christ is not portrayed as a meek and humble man resigned to his task as savior and lord. Within this portion of the text, he becomes a bold warrior climbing the cross as if going into battle. At the end of the poem, the narrator looks to Christ and the cross for protection. Furthermore, the primary duty of a hero is to provide his kinsmen with great treasure and weaponry. Beowulf fulfills this duty by stating Behold this treasure #8230; that I have been allowed to leave my people #8230; (Beowulf 91) to Wiglaf after defeating the dragon. The warriors in The Battle of Maldon describe their Lord and hero as a treasure giver, and also a ring giver. The warriors in both of these texts reflect on all that their lords or heroes provide for them. It is through this gratification for material wealth that kinsmen feel so indebted to fighting for their lord. Wiglaf illustrates this concept when he remembers the bountiful gifts bestowed upon him (Beowulf 88) and finds that he could not hold back (Beowulf 88) from his lord s side. Christ also fulfills this duty of a hero by bestowing many wonderful gifts and treasures upon any man who will follow Him faithfully. The treasures described in the poem ... • 37. Sodium Nitrate Lab Report Solution To start off, sodium nitrate is considered more soluble than sodium chloride. To start off the experiment, a test tube is filled with exactly 10 mL of water. With a scooper, add one scoop of sodium chloride and put a rubber stopper on the top of the test tube. Shake the test tube until you no longer see substances at the bottom. Repeat the steps for the sodium chloride until the solution is no longer soluble and there is still some at the bottom. Before the lab began, the amount of sodium chloride in the container weighed 70.5 grams. After adding all four scoops of sodium chloride it was not longer soluble. After adding the four scoops, the container weighed 67.6 grams and the amount of the sodium chloride that was used was 2.9 grams. Next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To concluded, the sodium nitrate was more soluble than the sodium chloride because it took 8.7 grams to saturate the sodium nitrate, while it took only 2.9 grams to saturate the sodium chloride. Conclusion: 1.) Are different substances equally soluble in water? Explain. Different substances are not equally soluble in water because each substance dissolves differently. For example the sodium nitrate took longer to dissolve than the sodium chloride because they are different substances. Some substances also may not dissolve at all in water. Also, substances have all different types of shapes and sizes, and larger substances may take longer to dissolve than smaller ones. 2.) How could you use the property of solubility to help identify the type of matter? There are many ways that one can use the property of solubility to help identify the type of matter. One way is to put the matter into water and shake it to see if it is soluble. Another way is to observe the matter and see the different shapes and colors that it has. Seeing if it is soluble in water and by observing the colors and shape one can narrow down what type of matter it is. 3.) What were two likely sources of error for this experiment? There are many likely sources of error that could have occured while doing this experiment. One error was that some of the substances were spilled on the table. The substances were left on the table throughout the experiment and it was never cleaned up. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
