Social Construction Of Male Dominance Essay
INTRODUCTION
High maternal mortality in African countries has often been linked to the practice of male
dominance (patriarchy). According to Kinanee and Ezekiel Hart (2009p.1) patriarchy is defined
as the dominance of men over women, patriarchy describes a family structure or society where
the man is, as of right, the head of the family and regarded by the women as the lord and master
whose decision (about any and all issues, including those of maternal health) is final . It
encourages men s access to resources control. Male dominance entails that women are to depend
almost entirely on men in making every decision that affects the family including, but not limited
to the number of babies to have, when to get pregnant, usage or non usage of contraceptives,
whether or not to go for antenatal care, to mention a few), even when they are directly affected by
such decisions (Kinanee and Ezekiel Hart 2009). Gender is the social construction of roles
allocated to men and women (O Brien and White 2003). These roles vary geographically and
change over time (O Brien and White 2003). The conventional system in many African countries
lay out specific roles that both men and women are to perform in their families and communities.
For instance, from childhood boys are instilled with the mentality that they were to be strong and
hardworking, so as to be able to effectively take care of their wives. Girls, on the other hand, were
to focus solely on the domestic activities. They were to

Annex Philippines
Should the United States have annexed the Philippines
Abraham Lincoln once said no man is good enough to govern another man without that other s
consent... In this case the U.S. is not good enough to govern the Philippines when the Philippines
want to be independent. The Spanish American war (1898) occurred when a U.S. ship blew up
near Cuba (was trying to gain independence from Spain). Within hours yellow journalists were all
over the story saying that it was a Spanish torpedo, and the U.S. should go to war. The United States
government fell for yellow journalism and went to war. It was an easy win for the U.S. as it
lasted only 4 months. As a result of the win the U.S. got an option on what to do with Philipines(
also trying to gain independence from Spain), annex them, make them independent, or give them
back to Spain. At the beginning of the war the United States said it would free the Philippines,
because of all the help the Philippines offered, however they ended up annexing it. So, should the
United States annex the Philippines? No, the U.S. should not annex the Philippines because it kills
the spirit of 1776 and it goes against the golden rule. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
should not annex the Philippines because it goes against the spirit of 1776. We earnestly
condemn the policy of the present national administration in the Philippines. It seeks to
extinguish the spirit of 1776 in those islands. (Document A) The U.S. was fighting for its own
independence from Great Britain over 100 years ago, and now Philippines is doing the same thing
with Spain. So why doesn t the U.S. support them on this instead going against it. The only way
America is a country now is because it rebelled against a bad ruler. Philippines is just trying to
follow in our own footprints. That is why the U.S. should not annex the Philippines because it goes

High Schoolers And High School
Think back to when you were a child. While looking around, you often realize all of your friends
playing sports are exceptional at them. You are not the ultimate athlete and honestly don t enjoy
sports at all, but you keep playing anyways. All of your friends play and your parents have
always encouraged you to do well in sports and to be the best. You know there are other
opportunities out there for you, but you don t feel as popular just being satisfactory in school. In
today s world, high schoolers are constantly under pressure to do well in sports, but not
necessarily in school. Life lessons, like getting a job or just being an overall good person fly out
the window. Central High Schoolfocuses too much on athletics instead of academics; this problem
can be alleviated through the encouragement of parents to promote academic success and to help
set realistic goals.
Parents need to promote academic success at every age and no matter what the student is involved
in. One of the problems today is that too many kids are overinvolved in activities, not allowing
them to have the proper amount of time to finish homework. Children are constantly under the
presumption that sports are more important than doing well in school. They work harder in practice
than when doing homework. Parents need to help encourage kids to get homework done, excel
academically and to gain the right friends. Many kids wind up making friends through sports and
then they feel as though if they

The Fight Over Stalingrad During World War II
As much as it is glamorized on television and video games, people have forgotten the realities of
war. For in war, soldiers and civilians alike have suffered severely, and combat has put everyone
who is involved to a true test of character. An example of the tests of war is found by looking at
Germany s failed attack on the Russian city of Stalingrad during World War II. In the fight over
Stalingrad, there are examples that demonstrate the struggles that both Russian and German
soldiers faced. The Russians, for example, had to fortify themselves first in the buildings of
Stalingrad then in the rubble of these same buildings as they watched their city crumble. However,
the Russian s determination and reinforcements changed the tide of the battle, and the German
forces ultimately found themselves surrounded by the Russians without necessary war supplies
The Russian s determination to hold Stalingrad is probably best seen in this entry in the war diary
of the Russian 62nd Army on October 14, 1942, 1220: radio message from unit of 416th Regiment
from hexagonal block of flats: Surrounded; have water and cartridges; will die rather than surrender
(qtd. in The Long Agony, 883). This determination is only further presented by this statement made
by the commander of the 62nd Army, Buildings split up enemy formations like breakwaters,
forcing them to follow the line of the streets. That is why we clung to the most solid

Ten Days In A Mad-House
Nellie Bly, a journalist and social reformer of the late nineteenth century, sought to uncover existing
corruption in social institutions through writing expose features. A feminist, social activist, and
writer, Bly both contributed to and was influenced by the social and literary forces of the time
period. During the late eighteen hundreds, Nellie Blychallenged social expectations of women,
questioned the morality of certain social institutions, and defined a distinctive writingstyle by
incorporating the trends of the time into her own approach. At sixteen, Nellie Bly, then named
Elizabeth Jane Cochran, began her course as a feminist in 1885 by writing a letter in opposition to
an article that touted the home as the proper domain for women. While Bly s progressive response
to this article demonstrated a modern approach to the role of women, the argument that women are
bound to domestic duties was a stubborn and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This cultural force influenced her work as muckraking journalism broke through as a mainstream
genre. One of Bly s most well known works, Ten Days in a Mad House, documents Bly s experience
in a mental health institution as a sane person faking insanity. Through this account, the journalist
sheds light on the mistreatment of patients, cruelty of staff, and inability for patients to prove their
sanity with a focus on the women of the institution. At the end of Bly s expose is a call to action
with the hopeful implication that the problems she has witnessed could be easily fixed if they are
addressed. This optimistic sentiment is congruent with the empowered nature of late nineteenth
century reformers who organized for large scale policy change. Like Upton Sinclair who authored
an exposГ© entitled The Jungle regarding corruption within the meat packing industry, Nellie Bly
used journalism to expose injustice and initiate policy

Doctor Paddock And Doctor Medaris
Doctor Paddack versus Doctor Medaris
At most colleges it is important for there to be superior professors. Students prefer to choose
professors who have strong teaching styles and who will help them succeed in college. They may
have the same degree or other similarities. However, most professors often have differences
between each other. This is true for the professors at Manhattan Christian College, specifically
Doctor Paddock and Doctor Medaris. Although Doctor Paddock and Doctor Medaris have unique
similarities, they share obvious differences. These differences include measurement of knowledge,
interaction with students, and presentation of material.

He instead assigns forums, chapter questions, and readings. Doctor Medaris likes for students to
have detailed and thorough responses. The questions from both the forum and the readings are
generally asking about the student s personal leadership role or about their past. As an illustration,
he assigned the questions; What is one of the most challenging changes you have had to make in
your life? How did you handle this change? What have you learned about yourself through this
change? Questions like these, allow the students to think through and process what it is that they
believe about leadership and why. These questions often bring up past memories of either being in
leadership or being under another person s leadership and their effect on the student.
At Manhattan Christian College, they utilize an online system, MCC Online This is an excellent
tool for professors and students to communicate by handling assignments, checking grades, and
reviewing notes. Doctor Paddock and Doctor Medaris consistently interact with their students on
MCC Online, although they use it differently. In this case, Doctor Medaris has students submit their
forums and assigned questions through MCC Online. While on the other hand, Doctor Paddock has
students take the quizzes and tests through this tool and he posts the notes from his lectures after
each class. Another way professors stay interacted with their students is during scheduled class

Waltham Motors Division
Question 1: Using budget data, how many motors would have to be sold for Waltham Motors
Division to breakeven?
In order to calculate the breakeven point, we use the following equation and budget data:
Breakeven Sales*Unit Price Unit Variable Cost= Fixed Costs
Breakeven=Fixed CostsUnitary Price Unitary Variable Cost
Breakeven point=260,000864000/18000 512800/18000=13,226 units
Q2. Using budget data, what was the total expected cost per unit if all manufacturing and shipping
overhead (both variable and fixed) was allocated to planned production? What was the actual per
unit cost of production and shipping?
The results for the total expected cost/unit with budget data is:

There are many reasons that might cause this inefficiency coming from the production manager or
the purchase manager, such as bad quality of the raw materials bought (which were cheaper after
all), or waste of these during the production process.
* Direct Labour variance: Unfavourable by $22.000. Again, we need to find out whether this is
Price and/or efficiency driven. We know that according to the accountant information, the actual
price is $16,4/unit while the Standard price is $16/unit. On the other hand, the Standard Quantity is
14.000 units while the actual Quantity is 246.000/16,4=15.000 units. Therefore:
* Price Variance = 240.000 246.000 = $6000 Unfavourable. This reflects the increase in medical
benefits noted by the accountant. * Efficiency Variance = 224.000 240.000 = $16.000
Unfavourable. The accountant does not mention anything that can tell for sure the reasons for this
lack of efficiency, so we can only guess some reasons such as a change in the labour force to an
unskilled one.
* Idle Time and Cleanup Time: Unfavourable by $3.000 + $1.600 respectively, might be due to
different reasons such as low efficiency in the cleanup process, or bad shape of the machines used
to manufacture the motors that turned into a lot of idle time compared to the one budgeted. The
idle time must be monitored since it can lead to further decrease of Labour

Phoenix Jackson: Rising from the Ashes Many authors incorporate mythological creatures in stories
to represent the virtues and vices of their lead characters. Eudora Welty s character Phoenix Jackson
symbolizes resurrection in A Worn Path, and therefore identifies with the legendary phoenix. The
Encyclopedia Britannica describes the phoenix, as large as an eagle, with brilliant scarlet and
gold plumage and a melodious cry. Only one phoenix existed at any time, and it was very long
lived, and at the end of the bird s lifespan it would catch fire for a new phoenix to rise from the
ashes ( phoenix ).Phoenix Jackson is an old Negro woman that is making a difficult journey
including both physical and mental challenges; she overcomes these trials as a result of her
unconditional love for her grandson (Welty 314). She has a similar physical appearance to the

difficult for her physical condition, but she endures the journey to help comfort her grandson.
The physical appearance of the phoenix is merged into the main character and, the aspect of
rebirth is mentioned at the end of story. Phoenix is paralyzed with exhaustion and unable to
speak after her long trip until the nurse mentions her grandson then, a flicker and then a flame
comes across her face; she is reborn and able to make the trip back to her beloved grandson.

Academic Philosophy Of Early Childhood Education
Introduction
Children s academic performance in schools is not only based on the type of schools attended by
them, children exposed to early education are expected to outperform those that were not. This
paper focused on Philosophy of Early Childhood Education with interest on whether Children with
early education perform well academically than those that do not. In most countries in West Africa,
parents take their children to preschools before going through primary education. This preschool
education usually prepares them not only academically but also socially for primary school
education. Several striking changes in behavior are linked to children s growing sense of their
identity and increasing independence at preschools. Children ... Show more content on

It is generally accepted as the education given to children under 6 years of age. This education
precedes the start of formal primary schooling or before the age at which children are generally
expected to attend schools (Maduewesi, E. J. Agusiobo, B.C., 2005). Early childcare is therefore
conceptualized as encompassing the care, development, and education of children below the age of
6 (NERDC, 1996).
Purpose of Early Childhood Education
It is of utmost relevance to understand the importance of Education before considering why early
childhood education is necessary. Education has been the major light to the development of
nations all over the world. Even before the independence of most countries, people have undergone
various training and education abroad which led to the development of their countries. The
purpose of education is to bring development to the nations. The broad goal of early childhood
education is to increase children s performance in the preschool and at both primary and college
education. In the preschool, children learn new skills, which they have not been exposed to at their
different homes. Also, there is a socio cultural relationship among children at the preschool which
could serve as a means of learning about a new culture and getting familiar with new ideas about
different behavioral patterns. The importance of Early Childhood Education is

Should High School Athletes Be Drug Tested Essay
Should High School Athletes be Drug Tested?
When it come to drugs now in 2016, there are many people around us that we don t know are using
them. Sports such as, tennis, soccer, basketball, football ,etc. are definitely competitive. There is an
absolute necessity for schools to include drug testing programs for the safety and fairness of their
students, but one of the problems schools face if the lack of funds.
Most children and teens have strive to be the best they can be and often look up at their
inspiration, who they aspire to be. And while most teen athletes decide to reach their goal through
hard work, time, and dedication, some decide to take a sort of easy way and turn to performance
enhancing drugs .
Throughout history many star athletes have died and had health issues as a result of performance
enhancing drugs , some who weren t aware of the health consequences, Such as a case in Nov 1,
2007, in which 52 German athletes were given anabolic steroids for 10 years without their
knowledge or consent that later caused health issues for them and their children. One fourth of the
athletes have some form of cancer and one third report thoughts or attempts of suicide. The risk of

could have the same consequences as the 52 Germans athletes had , which not only affected them,
but their children. With the support of parents and teachers, we can enforce drug testing among
high schools, not to punish teens, but to encourage them to be the best they can be and allow for it

Unification of Italy and Germany Essay
Unification of Italy and Germany
By 1871 both the kingdom of Italy and the empire of Germany were united. Even though both
countries used popular trends to that time, both liberalism and nationalism, the process unifying
these two countries was very different. The end result was Germany emerging as a strong nation
and Italy appropriately, the weaker.
Italy s problems started with the fact that it didn t have one main ruler, but two people and a
concept, resulting in a different approach to the unification. Gulseppe Mazzini had a radical
program focusing on a centralized democratic republic based on universal suffrage and the will of
the people. Vincenzo Gioberti, who was a catholic priest called for a federation of existing states ...

Despite the fact that Italy was unified, it wasn t as nearly as strong as Germany was becoming.

southern states finally joined. This was the defeat the brought them together.

To Kill A Mockingbird Book Vs Movie Essay
When a novel is turned into a movie, the movie director usually to changes or cuts certain scenes.
The To kill a Mockingbird movie wasn t able to elaborate on certain characters that Harper Lee
wrote about. Why did the movie extract what scenes they did? The book is revolved around the
children Scout, Jem, and Dill to a certain extent. The movie focused on big name actor actor
Gregory Peckwho played Atticus. In order to make more money, the movie conveyed Atticus as
the focal point . Because of this, Scout had few lines. The beginning of the book starts out kind
of slow and allows the reader to get accustomed to each character. The movie skips through most
of that in order to hook the viewers in. For example, the movie shows Scout rolling in the tire
without even telling the backstory of the Radley s and telling you who Boo is. The movie cut
the scenes with the fire at Miss. Maudie s house, and the incident with Ms. Dubose and Jem. The
movie didn t really mention Boo as much as I was expecting it to. These changes were most
likely made because the director chose to have the movie revolve around the trial. Atticus says it is
a sin to kill a mockingbirdat the diner table. The books says this after the children receive airsoft
rifles. The children never receive airsoft rifles in the movie. Therefore, the director was forced to

The Theories And Techniques Of Psychoanalysis
Key Question 6 Sigismund Schlomo Freud was an Austrian neurologist, best known for
developing the theories and techniques of psychoanalysis. Freud was born in Freiberg on May
6th, 1856. Freud and his family moved to Vienna when he was four years old. He lived and
worked there for the remainder of his life. After receiving his medical degree in 1881, he became
engaged and later had 6 children of his own. His youngest daughter Anna, grew up to be a
distinguished psychoanalyst herself. After his graduation, Freud set up his own practise and
began treating patients with various psychological disorders. He considered himself a scientist
rather than a doctor and he aspired to understand the journey of human knowledge and
experiences. Freud developed the psychosexual theory and he believed there were five stages of
development. Oral, anal, phallic, latent and genital. The first stage, oral is from birth up until age
one. In the first stage of personality development, according to Freud, the libido is centered in a
baby s mouth. The rooting and the sucking reflex is very important. It gets much satisfaction from
putting all sorts of things in its mouth to satisfy the libido, and thus its id demands. Which at this
stage in life are oral, or mouth orientated, such as sucking, biting, and breast feeding. Stage number
two is anal which is from age one up until age three. During this stage, Freud believed that the main

Informative Speech About Overfishing

only entertains, but informs the audience. In my opinion, I believe my informative speech about
Overfishing was good, but not great. My organization, research, and rehearsal could have been
much tighter and some details were overlooked in my excitement when trying to present.
My overfishing speech in general is well organized for such a broad topic. I explained the minimum

Companies purchase these products or services for what they deem would help the organization
become profitable, competitive and successful (Bly, n.d.).
В•Bly points out that most B2B customers are well informed on the features of the products

effectively market the product or service. Business customers are more inclined to respond to
marketing materials that offer information. On the other hand, the general public has the tendency
to be influenced by slogans or curiosity with products which they do not necessarily know, need or

В•Consumers respond to colorful marketing material; in contrast, business buyers are more

В•B2B involves a multi step buying process; therefore, marketing efforts involve the use of several

Analysis Of The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee
Growth and Acceptance The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was done wonderfully
and quite entertaining. While a musical about a spelling bee does not sound like the most
exciting thing to watch, the performances by each actor provided a great atmosphere for the
production. Going into the play, I was expecting it to be a kid s show, which kids would enjoy
the musical but may not quite get all of the jokes. The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee was
more aimed at adults. Every adult that was watching the play, myself included, was rolling out
of their seats. The play managed to be engaging and funny throughout the entire play. Within the
play, each actor has a different background story. Each actor in the play, plays a big role and
stood out in their own specific way. Also, this specific play differs from the other plays we have
seen but it has few similarities. Beginning, the 25TH Annual Putnam Spelling Bee play overall is
a musical comedy. The play was more fast paced, more laughing was involved and much more
singing. Which led to the play in particular being quite more engaging than others. The production
in this play differed from the other plays we ve seen. The audience interaction was the best part of
the production. One difference to me is the play involved four people from the audience to
participate as actors in the play. Not knowing exactly what their purpose is in the play, just
generously volunteering as a spelling bee contestant. Another aspect that differed

The Language Of Language Teaching
Historically, both teachers and researchers have not been interested in pronunciation, as they have
usually focused their effort on grammar and vocabulary. Only at the end of nineteenth century, with
the Reform Movement in language teaching, pronunciation received systematic attention (Celce
Murcia et al. 2010; Terrell 2012). Thenceforth, research on L2 phonological instruction has grown,
and, with the advent of the Communicative Approach, questions on the matter shifted from Is it
necessary to teach it? to What are the best ways to teach it? With the focus on communication, this
approach raised the need to teach both segmental and suprasegmental aspects of the target language
in the classroom in order to increase intelligibility and communicability, because, regardless students
command of the second languagegrammar, they may still face communication problems if they fall
under a threshold level of nonnative pronunciation (Hinofotis and Bailey, 1980).
Despite possible, it is rare for L2 speakers to achieve native like pronunciation (Bongaerts et al.
1997). Therefore, a more modest and realistic goal is to enable learners to surpass the threshold
level so that their pronunciation will not detract from their ability to communicate (Celce Murcia et
al. 2010). There is empirical evidence that learning context play a fundamental role on achieving
high level phonological proficiency. Bongaerts et al. (1997) demonstrated that their high proficient

about Jude Charles that made everyone admire him. Every student found him as a great leader and
was willing to listen to everything he said. However, there are two students that were not
blindsighted by him, Bailey and Cassie. They thoughtthat something felt off about him, but they
did not second look it. Jude Charles worked his magic around the school causing every girl to fall

Bailey and Cassie were informed about this new couple, and knew right away that Jude Charles
is not right for Romania. These two had a talk with her and Romania was not going to change
her mind. Bailey and Cassie had to take action to get rid of Jude Charles or Romania will not be
the same. They came up with the best plan to get this monster out of Romania s hair forever. The
next day they started their plan in English class which they shared with Jude Charles. They both
sat directly behind him so the teacher could not see the girls. They started to make disruptions in
class. They make funny noises, and even threw papers everywhere until the teacher noticed and
saw that the disruptions were coming from the area of Jude Charles, so it had to be him. The
teacher then sent him to the principal s office. The girls followed him there and once again sat
behind him in the office and did the same activity. The principle stated that if he continued he

going to be their chance to get him away from Romania, so they continued and soon after, Jude

Comparing Leonardo Da Vinci with Michelangelo
Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti were, and still are considered to be two of the
greatest minds, even geniuses of the Renaissance. But which one is more of a genius than the
other? Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15th, 1452, son to a notary called Ser Piero. Ser
Pier has sex with a woman called Catarina, which resulted in her pregnancy. For a believed reason
that Catarina was the Daughter of a farmer, they never got married. Ser Pier later married another
woman, when he was 25, which is the time Leonardo was born. As for Michelangelo, he was born
on March 6, 1475, to a father called Ludovico, and a mother named Francesca, who was not
capable of taking care of him. She sent her son to a family of stone cutters, and whose... Show more

The bridge worked and has a very modern shape. These two superb artists are so much alike, yet
they are very different as well.
Michelangelo had his very own aspects which made him a unique person. Michelangelo was a
person brilliant in sculptures only. On august 4, 1983, Pope Julius II Della Rovere told
Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel. Although never experienced with paint, especially fresco
painting, he painted the whole ceiling by himself, standing up while most painters that painted
ceilings did it lying on their backs. He asked his old friend Francesco Granacci to help him, as
well as four other fresco painters. However, when he saw that they weren t as good as he
thought, and have the imagination he wanted, he dismissed them and continued by himself. All
he had was two men that helped make the paint. Michelangelo was very bad at mathematics, and
languages. He failed to learn how to speak Latin, which was taught to most nobles in Italy. After
being taught by Ghirlandaio, he soon excelled to being even better than his teacher, and walking
his own path and trying new things. Rock is one of the hardest objects to work, and craft with.
However, for Michelangelo, he turned a piece of dull marble, or other rock, into a work of art. It
would be impossible to find a body showing greater mastery of art possessing more beautiful

The Importance Of Substance Abuse Treatment Centers
If you are searching for a substance abuse treatment center, it is very important that you find one
that will meet your needs. You should review the facilities or services they have to offer, for

services. So after doing my research on some treatment centers in my area, I chose Outreach
located in Ridgewood Queens. I chose this center because it is close to home and they offer a wide
range of services, such as, long term residential substance abuse treatment to adolescents. I thought I
would be interesting to visit and I see what these young ones are going through and how the

Albert Einstein And The Atomic Bomb
In the afternoon of August 6, 1945, the city of Hiroshima no longer resembled the bustling urban
area it was just a few short hours before. At a quarter after eight in the morning, an atomic bomb
fell from the sky. A bomb small enough to carry on a plane was powerful enough to destroy five
square miles of city (ВЁManhattan ProjectВЁ par. 10). John Hersey writes in Hiroshima about
what a priest saw just after the bomb exploded two miles away from him. A priest saw clouds of
smoke rising from fires that started after the explosion (Hersey 18). Creating the atomic bomb
which caused so much destruction was a process which involved many people. Leo Szilard,
Albert Einstein, and Julius Oppenheimer were men whose work brought the beginning to the
project. Every good idea needs a kick to it, something that stands out for people to notice and
look deeper. That kick was Albert Einstein, who was important to the science of atoms before the
Manhattan project began (ВЁMainwoodВЁ par.1). His knowledge of atoms were key to how the
atomic bomb works only up to a certain point before he couldn t do anything else. Despite his
area of study, Einstein was not an atomic scientist (ВЁMainwoodВЁ par. 2). He was not involved
with the Manhattan project at all, he never worked a day with Szilard or Oppenheimer, their area
of science was different than his. The thing that he did most important for the Manhattan project
was signing a piece of paper prompting the need for atomic weapons to be used in

Mass Extinction
Extinction is the end of an organism or group of taxa. Extinctions occur when a species becomes
unfit for survival in its natural habitat usually to be replaced by another, better suited species. An
organism becomes ill suited for survival because its environment is changed or because its
relationship to other organisms is altered as stated from Credo Reference. The moment of extinction
is generally considered to be the death of the last individual of that particular species. Mass
extinctions, however, are rare events that only happen every few million years. Only recently have
these events been recorded and scientist have become alarmed at these recent extinctions. Most
extinctions aren t even documented and some predict that most of... Show more content on

They believe that a large asteroid was the cause of Cretaceous mass extinction. A large crater was
found in the Caribbean Sea near the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, which is about 65 million years
old. (Campell)
A large impact from an asteroid like this would cause global darkness from the amounts of dust
sent into the air. This dust would stop photosynthesis for plants which in all would affect every
source of live in the area (Thomas). This darkness would also cause the area to cool which could
also kill off organisms. Another would be an impact from a comet, such as the comet that exploded
above southeastern Siberia in 1908 (Thomas). The last factor is a Supernova explosion, which isn t
the case for earth since there is no evidence that this influenced life on earth.
The consequences of mass extinctions affect biological diversity greatly. By removing large
numbers species, this could reduce thriving and complex communities. These events are random
and effect species greatly, permanently removing species with highly advantageous features and
change the course of evolution forever. Whenever extinctions occur, a trickledown effect can occur.
An example of this could be how a certain plant may go extinct, and a worm eats that plant.
That worm would eventually die out because of the food source being gone. A bird would also
be affected by this since it can t eat that worm which is his only food source. The fossil record
shows that it typically takes 5 to 19 million

Eshani: Classics are debatable and are opinions that we grow up with that sooner or later turn into
facts. To me, classics are novels that can relate to your children, grandchildren, great
grandchildren, and so on so forth. The Great Gatsby is about hardships and how sometimes life

I am currently studying for a BA (Hons) in History at Sheffield Hallam University, and it is my
ambition to study for a Primary PGCE. I have always been interested in teaching and after
completing work experience at a nursery while in high school, I was eager to gain even more
classroom experience whilst at University. The time I have spent in a primary schoolwhile at

What I observed was a teacher who made her class interactive and entertaining, as well as tasking,
which kept the children engaged and focused throughout all the activities. She gave the children a
chance to succeed by giving them different tasks to suit their intellectual ability. It was evident to
me that when children felt a task was achievable, they stayed focused and succeeded. In turn, this
was extremely confidence boosting. She had such a positive attitude towards her work and the
children, which provided a positive learning environment.
I have a passion for education and believe that teaching children at a primary level is extremely
rewarding as it is the initial step in transforming the lives of young people to prepare them for high

At this moment, the financial sector still attracts a lot of controversy both at the regulator and the

Moreover, the State Bank of Vietnam‟s regulations, the bank‟s internal policies and annual
reports as well as the transaction office‟s business results also provide significant findings for
the research. The analysis of both primary and secondary data shows that this bank has been
trying to adopt a close to standard credit risk management framework with numerous published
documents governing the day to day credit activities. Some good points are a complete lending
procedure or a standard internal credit rating system SYMBOLS. However when it comes to actual
operation, some aspects should be considered, e.g. the staff training quality or the priority treatment
to high value customers. Especially, the high non performing loans at the transaction office and the
non complied loss provision must be reviewed and adjusted. These discoveries have led to several
constructive improvement suggestions for the case bank. Besides, recommendations for new
research directions have also been made. Key words Risk, Banking Risks, Credit Risk, Credit Risk

Mongol Barbaric Dbq
Throughout the years, historians have found evidence to show that many ethnic groups were
barbaric, like the Germanic tribes: Ostrogoths and Visigoths, or the nomadic tribes: Huns and
Mongols. Though the evidence is strong to show the primitive nature of the Ostrogoths,
Visigoths, and Huns, the evidence is ambiguous for the Mongols. From what historians have
collected who they conquered and people they were close to conquering they believe that
Mongols were barbaric; however disagreements can be made, because of the lack of evidence and
prejudices we have been raised along side with. This can be shown in their military, their
commerce, their laws, and how they rule their conquered lands. In their military, they had a certain

How Nelson Mandela Encouraged His Country to Move On
C. S. Lewis once said, Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You
have to let go at some point in order to move forward. Nelson Mandela helped his country cross
the monkey bars from apartheid to democracy, from Once a left wing extremist, Mandela s 27
years in prison taught him that the only way his country would survive and thrive was if his
people learned to forgive and move on. A willingness to forgive can be all it takes to unite a
fiercely divided country.
The new South African government, led by President Mandela, addressed the need for
understanding but not for vengeance, a need for reparation but not for retaliation, a need for ubuntu
but not for victimisation (Volmink 191). Ubuntu, a Bantu word meaning, I am because you are,
expresses the concept that our humanity is inherently bound up with one another. Volmink, argues
that we can never be complete as human beings as long as we are alienated from one another (191).
As part of the beginning of the post apartheid era, Nelson Mandela and the African National
Congress (ANC) established the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), which promoted
reconciliation as an ideal, not only for nation building, but also for individual healing (Muiu 137).
This idea for a safe environment in which both victims and perpetrators could vent and share their
stories without judgement gave the commission it s power. All participants were guided toward
reconciliation and some were

Showing that the films sneak their way into the culture shows the cracks in the town s commitment
to their faith.
Nomi wants to get out of the East Village in Manitoba and go to the East Village in New York
although she has never been and knows very little about it she has decided that New York is the
place for her to go. One of the films mentioned in the novel is West Side Story, which takes place in
the upper east side of New York City. This could be one of Nomi s inspirations for her desire to
move to New York. This could also add to her fascination of America overall. Nomi would often
fantasize that her father was going to Minnesota for a coffee (Toews 88) and she would go to
the border and stare at America (Toews 56). Nomi has no aspirations to move to larger city in
Canada like Vancouver or Ottawa. She has the mentality that the American dream is what she
needs to be happy; a concept that the media often likes to show. If Nomi never had access to
these films it would be more likely that she would want to venture somewhere closer to home
like Winnipeg. Since Nomi only had minimal exposure movies that portray the idea of the
American dream her view on it is slightly twisted. She doesn t know exactly what would be
waiting for her in New York but she hopes that it would be her Mother and Sister. Another movie
that mentioned in the novel is The Sound Of Music, which is about a woman who failed at being a

An American portrait photographer, Philippe Halsman, in the mid 1900 s once said, A true

portraits are a representation of an individual, to show the memory of their soul through artwork
even if it s photographs, paintings, drawings, or sculptures. Whether it is to remember the past or
present, portraits tell their own story in a moment of time through the frame of the artistic eye.

For example, Yousuf Karsh characterizes Muhammad Ali (plate 1) through a powerful photograph,
not only as an individual but an American hero who shows power and strength. When looking at the
image the most apparent form is his face and the emotion that is being expressed. While Ali s
head is turned at forty five degrees, he remains to have eye contact with the viewers, which
means he is not afraid to show the world who he is and how he wants to be represented.
Furthermore, the bold stance of his fists carefully placed on his hips and his shoulders slightly
forward exemplifies his fearlessness and confidence that he has in himself and that many others
who chant his name know him to be. While Karsh identifies a more serious approach to a
portrait that captures what Muhammad Ali stood for, there are also more whimsical ways to
apprehend the narration of a person. Gwenn Seemel is one amazing artist that truly captures the
essence of a person and makes them come alive on the canvas. During the course of an hour long
interview, Seemel takes hundreds of photos while her subject spills his or her whole life s story.
In a video about her artwork and the process that goes with it she states, Portraits should not be a

THE MAGNITUDE OF SIN
THEO 202 001
Statement of Topic The analysis of biblical data provides the best understanding of the nature,
source and consequences of sin. Sin is any evil action or motive that is in opposition to God. Sin
has very serious consequences when it comes to relationships between the sinner and God. Sin also
has severe consequences that affect the individual sinner, causing the individual to have social
implications. It is evident from both the Old Testament and the New Testament descriptions of sin,
that sin is universal. Both testaments describe the extent and intensiveness of sin. Obtaining a

45,79). Basically, everything you do is right and wrong doesn t exist. Just accept yourself for
who you are. The bible on the other hand says that some acts of conduct is just not acceptable.
For example Amos 5:15 and Romans 12:9, hate evil love good. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what
is good. How can we do this if nothing is any worse than anything else?
Psychology also often justifies sin in the name of freedom and ventilating feelings. Paul C. Vitz
writes about Donald Campbell, president of the American Psychological Association, criticized
psychology as follows; There is in psychology today a general background assumption...that
repressive or inhibitory moral traditions are wrong (p. 49). The secular psychologists advocate
that the clients should freely express what they thing and feel. For example, pornography is
justified as an outlet for sexual desires that might otherwise express themselves in violent assaults.
The bible teaches that people ought to control and discipline themselves to do God s will. In
Galatians 5:22 self control is listed as a fruit of the spirit that is to be developed.
The final issue secular psychologists have against the sin nature is that sin should not be
condemned or rebuked. Psychologists often say that sinful practices should be handled in a non
directive, non judgmental way. They are told to listen sympathetically, but never to tell people their
conduct is wrong or sinful, never rebuke them, never tell them they must

and they began to exit the streetcar despite Yatim s demands to remain where they were. Once
exiting the streetcar many people began to call 911, and the policearrived on scene shortly after, this
is when the conflicting issue began. When ConstableJames Forcillo arrived Yatim was near the
front exit of the streetcar, he immediately drew his weapon and shouted for Yatim to Drop the
knife , resulting in Yatim insulting Forcillo. Once Forcillo realized that Yatim would now calm
down, he asked for his partner to call for an officer who had a Taser, since not all police officers
in Toronto are allowed to carry them. This is the first issue in this case. If Forcillo had a Taser the
situation could have resulted in a better ending. When Yatim disobeyed orders by stepping towards
the exit of the streetcar, Forcillo shot his gun 3 times causing Yatim to fall to the ground. At this
point other police officers entered the streetcar and Forcillo shot 6 more times. The officer with the
Taser then arrived and noticed that Yatim was still struggling and holding the knife, so he Tasered
him. The ending to this

Domestic Violence Effects On Children Essay
Domestic violence affects 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men (NCADV, 2015). Although the devastating
effects that domestic violence has on women are well known, there is a population of domestic
violence victims that we tend to overlook. These are the children of the women and men who are
in domestic violence situations. Children are the invisible victims when it comes to domestic
violence. There are many statistics being thrown around when it comes to the number of children
who are exposed to domestic violence; they range from as little as 200,000 to even 3 18 million
(Sousa et. al., 2011). A 2001 study discovered that in 75% of the cases in their study, children were
present in the home during the assaults (Hutchison Hirschel, 2001). Until recently, there have been
limited studies focused on the effects of exposure to domestic violence on children. This paper will
review various literatures that identify the effects of domestic violence exposure on children. There
were many trends in the literatures that were studied but there were two common trends worth
mentioning. The first trend was the participants that were used in the studies. Many of the
literatures mention that previous studies mainly gathered information from women and children
who resided in battered women shelters. The second trend was the methods used for the studies.
Many of the studies used surveys and interviews where women and children self reported on their
experiences. There were many common conflicts in the

The Qantas Emirates Agreement Commenced
The Qantas Emirates agreement commenced in April 2013. What impact has this partnership had
on the two airlines, and on the market between Australia and Europe? The new Qantas Emirates
agreement that commenced in April 2013 had a significant impact on both airlines as there were
substantial benefits that were now offered to both airlines customers. The new partnership gave
Qantascustomers access to Emirates vast network in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa
while Emirates customers benefit from gaining access to Qantas unmatched Australian domestic
and regional network. Meanwhile both airlines customers also enjoy the benefit from the premium
products now offered such as new world wide lounges, enhanced products in terms of seats, meals
and inflight entertainment as well as frequent flyer programs. The new agreement also gives both
airlines significant advantage in network over its competitors between Australia and Europe.
According to ACCC chairman Rod Sims The ACCC considers that the alliance is likely to result in
public benefits through enhanced products and service offerings by the airlines, and improved
operating efficiency and this was perhaps one of the biggest impacts of this partnership on both
airlines. It is certain that the new look of the premium product offered through this partnership will
not only give existing customers a unique flying experience but also because of its premium
appearance and distinctiveness will certainly attract more

The Visual Reflection Of The Discoursee Community Of A...
The visual argumentation that I ended up creating was revising the information from my discourse
community of a marching band paper and turning it into an infographic. It consists of six
components of a marching band that are named and briefly explained, as well as an image of an
instrument found in the marching bandthat correlates to that component. My visual argumentation
shows the revision of my discourse paper, has stayed fairly similar to what my design plan has
dictated, and followed the principles given through the CRAP design principles.
Through the revision process of my design, I decided to only use some of Swale s components of a
discourse community. My design details the components of a marching band that are apparent
while the band is performing because I felt that there were some discourse community components
that aren t as valuable for the audience to know to understand how a band works. I also chose this
because the performance is the most important part of a marching band, so the components
understood should be the ones that are shown in a performance. This is also why I choose to
include the connection a marching band has with its audience as a component even though it isn t
one of Swales components of a discourse community. Having been in a marching band myself I
know that it is essential for the band to be able to connect with their audience during a performance
so that their audience is entertained and enjoying their music. I feel like the focusing on

The Fantasy Story
Today I #8217;d like to tell you about fantasy literature. It is very hard to tell all about it but I
#8217;ll try to do it as good as possible and not being boring. First fantasy motifs were shown in
romanticism. We all know the mystical and unreal characters: ghosts, phantoms etc. Authors for
building the special mood and charm of that epoch used that figures.
But fantasy is something more than romantic ways of showing nature or inner experiences of the
main character in the novel. It #8217;s also not an attempt of explaining the unreal and difficult to
understand visions or event. In the course of time it began to live it #8217;s own life more and
more the writers started to use these motifs. And what had happened? They created... Show more

But one day, after many happy years on the throne, they got lost in a forest. While walking the
trees became coats and they suddenly fell out of the closet. Long years in Narnia were just few
minutes in the human world. Children have big imagination so crossing the line between
fantasies and real is not a problem, but it is a big challenge for readers. Lewis created the magic
land and as he once said: #8221;even if all of that is imagined #8211; trees, grass, sun, moon,
stars and Aslan, there is no doubt: this imagined world is much better then the real one #8221;.
The next kinds, beloved by fantasy fans are #8220;never lands #8221;. They are perfectly
defined by one of first never lands creators Lord Dunsany. He named it as places #8220;beyond
the fields we know #8221;. And we are really crossing the line of human perception. Authors don
#8217;t blink their eye, don #8217;t pretend like in the Venice carnival. Not everything is from
the beginning land of fantasy. Tolkien made never lands legal, gave them autonomy and
independence, full rights in authors imagination. He said that artistic imagination has no borders
and cannot be restricted by what is real. We can see what we want to see, also the land of never.
Never lands can use the cultural heritage of our world, but it all depends on the author. Of course
playing in never lands must be based on understanding and agreement between writer and reader,
we have to accept all the rules and it

  • 2. Social Construction Of Male Dominance Essay INTRODUCTION High maternal mortality in African countries has often been linked to the practice of male dominance (patriarchy). According to Kinanee and Ezekiel Hart (2009p.1) patriarchy is defined as the dominance of men over women, patriarchy describes a family structure or society where the man is, as of right, the head of the family and regarded by the women as the lord and master whose decision (about any and all issues, including those of maternal health) is final . It encourages men s access to resources control. Male dominance entails that women are to depend almost entirely on men in making every decision that affects the family including, but not limited to the number of babies to have, when to get pregnant, usage or non usage of contraceptives, whether or not to go for antenatal care, to mention a few), even when they are directly affected by such decisions (Kinanee and Ezekiel Hart 2009). Gender is the social construction of roles allocated to men and women (O Brien and White 2003). These roles vary geographically and change over time (O Brien and White 2003). The conventional system in many African countries lay out specific roles that both men and women are to perform in their families and communities. For instance, from childhood boys are instilled with the mentality that they were to be strong and hardworking, so as to be able to effectively take care of their wives. Girls, on the other hand, were to focus solely on the domestic activities. They were to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this case the U.S. is not good enough to govern the Philippines when the Philippines want to be independent. The Spanish American war (1898) occurred when a U.S. ship blew up near Cuba (was trying to gain independence from Spain). Within hours yellow journalists were all over the story saying that it was a Spanish torpedo, and the U.S. should go to war. The United States government fell for yellow journalism and went to war. It was an easy win for the U.S. as it lasted only 4 months. As a result of the win the U.S. got an option on what to do with Philipines( also trying to gain independence from Spain), annex them, make them independent, or give them back to Spain. At the beginning of the war the United States said it would free the Philippines, because of all the help the Philippines offered, however they ended up annexing it. You are not the ultimate athlete and honestly don t enjoy sports at all, but you keep playing anyways. All of your friends play and your parents have always encouraged you to do well in sports and to be the best. You know there are other opportunities out there for you, but you don t feel as popular just being satisfactory in school. In today s world, high schoolers are constantly under pressure to do well in sports, but not necessarily in school. Life lessons, like getting a job or just being an overall good person fly out the window. Central High Schoolfocuses too much on athletics instead of academics; this problem can be alleviated through the encouragement of parents to promote academic success and to help set realistic goals. Parents need to promote academic success at every age and no matter what the student is involved in. One of the problems today is that too many kids are overinvolved in activities, not allowing them to have the proper amount of time to finish homework. Children are constantly under the presumption that sports are more important than doing well in school. They work harder in practice than when doing homework. Parents need to help encourage kids to get homework done, excel academically and to gain the right friends. Many kids wind up making friends through sports and then they feel as though if they ... • 5. The Fight Over Stalingrad During World War II As much as it is glamorized on television and video games, people have forgotten the realities of war. For in war, soldiers and civilians alike have suffered severely, and combat has put everyone who is involved to a true test of character. An example of the tests of war is found by looking at Germany s failed attack on the Russian city of Stalingrad during World War II. In the fight over Stalingrad, there are examples that demonstrate the struggles that both Russian and German soldiers faced. The Russians, for example, had to fortify themselves first in the buildings of Stalingrad then in the rubble of these same buildings as they watched their city crumble. However, the Russian s determination and reinforcements changed the tide of the battle, and the German forces ultimately found themselves surrounded by the Russians without necessary war supplies The Russian s determination to hold Stalingrad is probably best seen in this entry in the war diary of the Russian 62nd Army on October 14, 1942, 1220: radio message from unit of 416th Regiment from hexagonal block of flats: Surrounded; have water and cartridges; will die rather than surrender (qtd. in The Long Agony, 883). A feminist, social activist, and writer, Bly both contributed to and was influenced by the social and literary forces of the time period. During the late eighteen hundreds, Nellie Blychallenged social expectations of women, questioned the morality of certain social institutions, and defined a distinctive writingstyle by incorporating the trends of the time into her own approach. At sixteen, Nellie Bly, then named Elizabeth Jane Cochran, began her course as a feminist in 1885 by writing a letter in opposition to an article that touted the home as the proper domain for women. • 19. The Language Of Language Teaching Historically, both teachers and researchers have not been interested in pronunciation, as they have usually focused their effort on grammar and vocabulary. Only at the end of nineteenth century, with the Reform Movement in language teaching, pronunciation received systematic attention (Celce Murcia et al. 2010; Terrell 2012). Thenceforth, research on L2 phonological instruction has grown, and, with the advent of the Communicative Approach, questions on the matter shifted from Is it necessary to teach it? to What are the best ways to teach it? With the focus on communication, this approach raised the need to teach both segmental and suprasegmental aspects of the target language in the classroom in order to increase intelligibility and communicability, because, regardless students command of the second languagegrammar, they may still face communication problems if they fall under a threshold level of nonnative pronunciation (Hinofotis and Bailey, 1980). Despite possible, it is rare for L2 speakers to achieve native like pronunciation (Bongaerts et al. 1997). Therefore, a more modest and realistic goal is to enable learners to surpass the threshold level so that their pronunciation will not detract from their ability to communicate (Celce Murcia et al. 2010). But which one is more of a genius than the other? Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15th, 1452, son to a notary called Ser Piero. Ser Pier has sex with a woman called Catarina, which resulted in her pregnancy. For a believed reason that Catarina was the Daughter of a farmer, they never got married. Ser Pier later married another woman, when he was 25, which is the time Leonardo was born. As for Michelangelo, he was born on March 6, 1475, to a father called Ludovico, and a mother named Francesca, who was not capable of taking care of him. She sent her son to a family of stone cutters, and whose... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bridge worked and has a very modern shape. These two superb artists are so much alike, yet they are very different as well. Michelangelo had his very own aspects which made him a unique person. Michelangelo was a person brilliant in sculptures only. On august 4, 1983, Pope Julius II Della Rovere told Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel. Although never experienced with paint, especially fresco painting, he painted the whole ceiling by himself, standing up while most painters that painted ceilings did it lying on their backs. He asked his old friend Francesco Granacci to help him, as well as four other fresco painters. However, when he saw that they weren t as good as he thought, and have the imagination he wanted, he dismissed them and continued by himself. All he had was two men that helped make the paint. Michelangelo was very bad at mathematics, and languages. He failed to learn how to speak Latin, which was taught to most nobles in Italy. At a quarter after eight in the morning, an atomic bomb fell from the sky. A bomb small enough to carry on a plane was powerful enough to destroy five square miles of city (ВЁManhattan ProjectВЁ par. 10). John Hersey writes in Hiroshima about what a priest saw just after the bomb exploded two miles away from him. A priest saw clouds of smoke rising from fires that started after the explosion (Hersey 18). Creating the atomic bomb which caused so much destruction was a process which involved many people. Leo Szilard, Albert Einstein, and Julius Oppenheimer were men whose work brought the beginning to the project. Every good idea needs a kick to it, something that stands out for people to notice and look deeper. That kick was Albert Einstein, who was important to the science of atoms before the Manhattan project began (ВЁMainwoodВЁ par.1). His knowledge of atoms were key to how the atomic bomb works only up to a certain point before he couldn t do anything else. Despite his area of study, Einstein was not an atomic scientist (ВЁMainwoodВЁ par. 2). Extinctions occur when a species becomes unfit for survival in its natural habitat usually to be replaced by another, better suited species. The moment of extinction is generally considered to be the death of the last individual of that particular species. A large crater was found in the Caribbean Sea near the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, which is about 65 million years old. (Campell) A large impact from an asteroid like this would cause global darkness from the amounts of dust sent into the air. This dust would stop photosynthesis for plants which in all would affect every source of live in the area (Thomas). This darkness would also cause the area to cool which could also kill off organisms. Another would be an impact from a comet, such as the comet that exploded above southeastern Siberia in 1908 (Thomas). The last factor is a Supernova explosion, which isn t the case for earth since there is no evidence that this influenced life on earth. The consequences of mass extinctions affect biological diversity greatly. By removing large numbers species, this could reduce thriving and complex communities. These events are random and effect species greatly, permanently removing species with highly advantageous features and change the course of evolution forever. Whenever extinctions occur, a trickledown effect can occur. An example of this could be how a certain plant may go extinct, and a worm eats that plant. That worm would eventually die out because of the food source being gone. A bird would also be affected by this since it can t eat that worm which is his only food source. Nelson Mandela helped his country cross the monkey bars from apartheid to democracy, from Once a left wing extremist, Mandela s 27 years in prison taught him that the only way his country would survive and thrive was if his people learned to forgive and move on. A willingness to forgive can be all it takes to unite a fiercely divided country. The new South African government, led by President Mandela, addressed the need for understanding but not for vengeance, a need for reparation but not for retaliation, a need for ubuntu but not for victimisation (Volmink 191). Ubuntu, a Bantu word meaning, I am because you are, expresses the concept that our humanity is inherently bound up with one another. Volmink, argues that we can never be complete as human beings as long as we are alienated from one another (191). Psychology also often justifies sin in the name of freedom and ventilating feelings. Paul C. The bible teaches that people ought to control and discipline themselves to do God s will. In Galatians 5:22 self control is listed as a fruit of the spirit that is to be developed. The final issue secular psychologists have against the sin nature is that sin should not be condemned or rebuked. What impact has this partnership had on the two airlines, and on the market between Australia and Europe? The new Qantas Emirates agreement that commenced in April 2013 had a significant impact on both airlines as there were substantial benefits that were now offered to both airlines customers. The new partnership gave Qantascustomers access to Emirates vast network in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa while Emirates customers benefit from gaining access to Qantas unmatched Australian domestic and regional network. Meanwhile both airlines customers also enjoy the benefit from the premium products now offered such as new world wide lounges, enhanced products in terms of seats, meals and inflight entertainment as well as frequent flyer programs. The new agreement also gives both airlines significant advantage in network over its competitors between Australia and Europe. According to ACCC chairman Rod Sims The ACCC considers that the alliance is likely to result in public benefits through enhanced products and service offerings by the airlines, and improved operating efficiency and this was perhaps one of the biggest impacts of this partnership on both airlines. • 41. The Visual Reflection Of The Discoursee Community Of A... The visual argumentation that I ended up creating was revising the information from my discourse community of a marching band paper and turning it into an infographic. It consists of six components of a marching band that are named and briefly explained, as well as an image of an instrument found in the marching bandthat correlates to that component. My visual argumentation shows the revision of my discourse paper, has stayed fairly similar to what my design plan has dictated, and followed the principles given through the CRAP design principles. Through the revision process of my design, I decided to only use some of Swale s components of a discourse community. My design details the components of a marching band that are apparent while the band is performing because I felt that there were some discourse community components that aren t as valuable for the audience to know to understand how a band works. I also chose this because the performance is the most important part of a marching band, so the components understood should be the ones that are shown in a performance. This is also why I choose to include the connection a marching band has with its audience as a component even though it isn t one of Swales components of a discourse community. Having been in a marching band myself I know that it is essential for the band to be able to connect with their audience during a performance so that their audience is entertained and enjoying their music. I feel like the focusing on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Fantasy Story Today I #8217;d like to tell you about fantasy literature. It is very hard to tell all about it but I #8217;ll try to do it as good as possible and not being boring. First fantasy motifs were shown in romanticism. We all know the mystical and unreal characters: ghosts, phantoms etc. Authors for building the special mood and charm of that epoch used that figures. But fantasy is something more than romantic ways of showing nature or inner experiences of the main character in the novel. It #8217;s also not an attempt of explaining the unreal and difficult to understand visions or event. In the course of time it began to live it #8217;s own life more and more the writers started to use these motifs. And what had happened? They created... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But one day, after many happy years on the throne, they got lost in a forest. While walking the trees became coats and they suddenly fell out of the closet. Long years in Narnia were just few minutes in the human world. Children have big imagination so crossing the line between fantasies and real is not a problem, but it is a big challenge for readers. Lewis created the magic land and as he once said: #8221;even if all of that is imagined #8211; trees, grass, sun, moon, stars and Aslan, there is no doubt: this imagined world is much better then the real one #8221;. The next kinds, beloved by fantasy fans are #8220;never lands #8221;. They are perfectly defined by one of first never lands creators Lord Dunsany. He named it as places #8220;beyond the fields we know #8221;. And we are really crossing the line of human perception. Authors don #8217;t blink their eye, don #8217;t pretend like in the Venice carnival. Not everything is from the beginning land of fantasy. Tolkien made never lands legal, gave them autonomy and independence, full rights in authors imagination. He said that artistic imagination has no borders and cannot be restricted by what is real. We can see what we want to see, also the land of never. Never lands can use the cultural heritage of our world, but it all depends on the author. Of course playing in never lands must be based on understanding and agreement between writer and reader, we have to accept all the rules and it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
