Economic and Political Strategies of China versus Japan...
China and Japan
From 1500 to 1800, China and Japan tried to politically and economically established their countries
in very different ways. Japan fought war after war for a century before they changed their ways. China
on the other hand slowly established a government and used education as a tool to be politically and
economically strong. Japan would later do the same.
China was one of the most politically and economically strong countries during 1500 1800. The state
was identified as family. It brought unity and integration. The political system was an expanded role of
Confucianism. From 1500 1800, China was the most highly commercialized non industrial society in
the world. China had what is known as the perfected late ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Manchu appointed two people, one Manchu, and one Chinese, to each key post in the central
government. It was called Dyarchy. In 1683, Emperor K ang Hsi took over Taiwan.
The Ming Ch ing was known as the perfected late imperial system. They had a stronger emperor,
better government finances and used Confucianism as an ideology. They had more academies to
prepare people for the civil service exams, more bookstores, publishing flourished, and literacy
outpaced population. Some of Chinas major markets were grain, salt, timber, iron, and cotton. Silk
was a major market that was spread all over the world.
China used education and political growth to establish themselves. They grew slowly and were on of
the strongest countries of their time. They were the strongest countries in international trade. They
would stop growing in the late 19th century due to lack of technology at that time.
Japan had two different eras s from 1500 to 1800. The Warring State s era was an all out war inside
Japan from 1467 to 1600. The other was the Tokugawa era from 1600 to 1868. The wars came to an
end and Japan established Government control and unity under Tokugawa Ieyasu s command.
The Warring States era started in 1467 when a dispute over the next Ashika Shogun arrised. It led to
war between two lords who supported Bakufu. Other lords took the opportunity

A Study On Observation Of Photoluminiscene
A study on observation of photoluminiscene in Ruthenium based dye (cis diisothiocyanato bis(2,2

Abstract
Photoluminescence is light emission that form after the absorption of photons. Dye act as a light
absorber. Organic dye is one type of dye, have a small band gap and use as semiconducting material. It
will excite the excited electron after absorb light as energy from highest occupied molecular
orbital(HOMO) to lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO). The energy of photon must be
greater than energy of band gap in order to excite electron. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Dye always acts as a light absorber. Dye will absorb light to excite the excited electron state from
HOMO to LUMO. So absorbed of photons will be happened and dye will fall back from LUMO to
HOMO. So emission of photon will be happened. So the wavelength during absorbance and emission
process can be identified by using Photoluminescene (PL) spectrometer. By knowing the wavelength
we can determine the concentration of dye. Ruthenium dye is one of the organic dye where it contains
small band gap, so it only needs small energy to excite the photon from LUMO to HOMO. So if the
dye absorb red colour it will reflect blue colour (refer figure 1). Figure 1: a wheel of colour to estimate
absorbed light based on colour of dye
Objectives
1. To speculate range of absorbed and reflected wavelength of light by Ruthenium based dye based on
its colour
2. To characterize photoluminescence property of the dye using Photoluminescence(PL) spectrometer;
usng radiation source which energy is based on the speculated absorbed wavelength
3. To estimate energy loss via radiative recombination i.e., recombination of electron with hole in the
lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of dye.

The History of African American Slavery
The History of African American Slavery Tongela Vaughan Axia College of University of Phoenix
The History of African American Slavery A slave is someone who is owned by another human. They
do as they are told to do by their owners. African Americans had an unfair start in America, by being
captured and brought over from Africa to be slaves. Do you know how slaves were treated? The
conditions and treatment of slaves were different fromthe average American. Do you know how
slavery came to an end? The slaves receivedtheir freedom in different types of ways. Before long,
slavery was ended and they were set free to live their lives according to their own choice. For the

Once they saved enough money, they were able to buy their freedom Finally, slaves were able to see
the light at the other end of the long tunnel of harsh treatment on the plantations. Slavery ultimately
ended in the United States following Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, which
freed slaves that were rebelling against the federal government. In 1865, slavery was abolished.
Thanks to President Abraham Lincoln, the slaves were finally a free race. There was one thing that
helped to keep the slaves believing that they would receive their freedom, and that they will see better
days ahead. That was there firm belief in god. They would hold church, or what they would call
religious revivals, out in a field. Having that belief kept them strong and held the families together that
was not traded or auctioned off. Slave owners initially resisted evangelicals preaching to their bond
people, but as the revival movement spread, a few came to consider it their Christian duty to teach
their slaves about the bible. Converting their original religions to Christianity became part of
accepting America as home. {draw:frame} This article advertises the trading or selling of African

The Plot against People Essay
The Plot against People
Have you ever thought that the possibility exists that inanimate objects are in fact plotting against
people in an effort to make our lives even more difficult than they actually are? In The Plot against
People, Russell Baker, a newspaper columnist and humorist, adopts a wry view of the world in which
he gives inanimate objects mischievous aims. As a class assignment, I was called upon to write my
own version in the style of Baker.
How often is it that we are late for work or school because we could not find our keys? On how many
occasions have we humans been locked out of our dorms or houses and yet have our keys remain
warm and cozy inside?
These events are not isolated to one group of humans or to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The reason for their uprising is still unknown, but their numbers are strong; to every one person, there
are about three keys. As Baker explains in The Plot against People, Many inanimate objects, of course,
find it extremely difficult to break down. Therefore, they have had to evolve a different technique for
resisting man. They get lost.
Keys have power and they know it. We have all been through a time in our lives when we were
trapped in our own homes because our keys were conveniently missing. Trapped in our own homes!
Feelings of frustration and anger quickly build up, but meanwhile our keys stay tucked away in a dark
cozy corner and snicker. They are at this point, where they want to be, in control and powerful. Russell
Baker was right. Keys frequently travel through six or seven rooms to find hiding space under a
couch.
Our keys take pleasure in putting humans in embarrassing situations. They derive a certain degree of
joy from it. They enjoy seeing us walk out of a room with just a towel wrapped around us and not
being in our hands but, instead, lying between the warm covers. There, they wait for the sound of the
slammed door and our frightful shriek.
One of the most distressing events is having your keys locked in your car while you stand helpless and
cold on the outside. This experience is not only nerve racking, but also costly, since, most times, a
locksmith may have to be called in to get you back into your car.
Keys have

The sole proprietor is his own boss and need not consult others while making any decision. He
exercises exclusive control over the affairs of the business. Therefore, he can take quick decision and
implement them without any delay.
5.Effective Control
In this form of organisation, the business can be controlled effectively because business activities are
planned and executed by a single man. Since all the decisions relating to purchase and sale are taken
by the soletrader, he can effectively control the business if there is any deviation from the original
plan.
6.Increase in Sales
A sole trader has direct relationship with the customers. Direct contact with the customers will enable
the proprietor to know the nature of their tastes, likes and dislikes. It enables him to make necessary
changes in the quality and design of his products. It will boost his sales besides enhancing the
reputation of the firm.
7.Inexpensive management
The sole trader is the owner, manager and controller of the business. He does not appoint specialists
for various functions. He personally supervises various activities and can avoid wastage in the
business. In this way managerial expenses are reduced to a large extent.

How Does Prospero Change In The Tempest
In Shakespeare s play, The Tempest , Prospero, the main character, is the rightful Duke of Milan. He
found refuge on a distant island after his brother, Antonio, seized Prospero s title and homeland. These
events and experiences of being exiled advance character to become isolated and enriched at the same
time. As a comic hero, Prospero start off as being frustrated and vengeful due to his separation from
his title and homeland, but is later refined due to those experiences.
Antonio s dethroning of Prospero is not only the reason why Prospero is alienated but it also is a great
example about the theme of betrayal that is prominent in the book. Antonio s betrayal in particular,
serves as the source of conflict for the play. Prospero creates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Prospero s intentions throughout the play was to seek out vengeance towards his brother and all those
who helped him in his betrayal. Through the work of Ariel, Prospero was able to capture those he
shipwrecked but decides to forgive them. He also forgives Caliban after plotting to kill him while
serving another master, these acts of change are key to the improvement and empowerment Prospero
learns after being on the island. The is a growth and arch shown about the character as he states, The
rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance. Prospero also shows enrichment of character when he sets
Ariel free after commanding him to make smooth sailing upon the return to Naples and Milan,
contrasting to the beginning of the play when Prospero seems ungrateful about the service of Ariel.
The problem Prospero had that paved the way to him being exiled, was his obsession with studying
his art/magic. It is through his experience on the island where he finally comes to realize that the
source and self improvement that he needed to make was giving up his magic. This is symbolized by
the throwing away of his books and his plea to the audience to release him from his bands . By giving
up his magic, the reason he couldn t be an affective Duke, shows how his alienation on the island
benefited him by allowing him to focus on his role and duty as

Costa Rican Food
Costa Rican cuisine is known for being flavorful, yet fairly mild, with high reliance on fresh fruit and
vegetables. Rice and black beans are a staple of most traditional Costa Rican meals, often served three
times a day; gallo pinto, a breakfast dish of rice and beans mixed together with onions and bell
peppers, is often considered the Costa Rican national dish. For lunch, the traditional meal is called a
casado. It again consists of rice and beans served side by side instead of mixed. There will usually be
some type of meat (carne asada, fish, pork chop, or chicken) and a salad to round out the dish. There
may also be some extras like fried plantain (patacones or maduro), a slice of white cheese, and/or corn

Coffee is usually served at breakfast and during traditional coffee breaks in the afternoon, usually
around 3:00 pm. It has traditionally been brewed in a native Costa Rican drip brew device called a
chorreador. The traditional drinks for lunch are called refrescos naturales, or frescos or naturales for
short, and consist of liquefied fruits diluted in either water or milk and sweetened to taste. They come
in many varieties such as canteloupe, blackberry, strawberry, watermelon, mango, tamarind, passion
fruit, guanabana, cas, and lime. Another popular drink is known as a granizado, a slush drink made of
finely shaved ice and flavored syrup. The most popular flavor is kola. This is not the cola usually
associated with carbonated soda, but a fruity flavored syrup. It is usually served with evaporated
and/or condensed milk on top. The national liquor of Costa Rica, guaro, is made from sugar cane.
Costa Ricans often drink guaro as a shot or mixed with juice or soda. The cost of guaro is very cheap
compared to beer (cerveza) in Costa Rica which has one major beer producer. Imperial is the most
popular beer and is an American style lager that is also available in Light. Pilsen is a Bohemian style
Pilsner produced in Costa Rica. During the 2007 holiday season, a 6.0 version with higher alcohol
content was produced. Due to its popularity, production of Pilsen 6.0 was continued through mid
2008. At that point, it was replaced with Pilsen Red. It has a 5.2%

Suspense In Sleepy Hollow

Director: Tim Burton
In the film an atmosphere of suspense is created using various film techniques such as lighting, music
and through the plot itself. The film also takes on a Gothic tone using different characteristics and
techniques such as the settings, symbolism, emotions such as fear and the different atmospheres in the
film. The director explores the theme of good vs evil through different elements and characters in the
film generally following normal good vs evil stereotypes with some exceptions.
The director builds an atmosphere of suspense using various techniques. He uses darker lightning

The bad guys wear dark and intimidating clothing in order to classify them as evil. While the good
guys wear lighter clothing. Now good vs evil in Ichabod and the horseman s case is basically science
vs the supernatural. But the battle is not this simple throughout the film. The mystery of who controls
the horseman makes the audience question who is good and who is evil. For example when it seems
that Baltus may be in control of the horseman, but when he is killed everyone is left questioning who
is in control and from there who is good and who is evil. The horseman is shown as evil and is shown
as such through various techniques. The horseman s invincibility due to being dead is used to convey
that he is one unstoppable and two supernatural. In horror those that are invincible are normally evil.
Having an invincible good character does not work in horror. Also because he kills with such ease and
without regret one can easily tell that he is an antagonist and therefore evil. However he is not pure
evil. When Brom attacks him the horseman simply overpowers him and turns to leave and only kills
him because Brom kept attacking him but leaves Ichabod with only a small non lethal wound.
Lighting becomes dark and gloomy during the horseman s appearances which tells the audience that
the evil antagonist has appeared. This is accompanied by deep or high pitched music. In most

Voter Turnout Decline in the United States Essay
The United States national elections have been experiencing a steady decline of eligible voters
showing up to vote. This steady decline has been ongoing since experiencing a significant increase in
voter turnout from 1948 through 1960. Over the years there has been significant, meticulous research
done to try to pinpoint the cause of the decline in voter turnout over years. All of this research has led
to the production of an enormous number of literatures written on the perceived causes. The vast
amount of literature produced has led to a number of competing explanations about this decline. The
quest for the answer to the question of, why this decline in voter turnout, is very important for an

Secondly, I feel it is similarly important to this paper to address what the true definition and what I
mean when I use the term, national election. Through this paper I use the term, national elections,
which refers to the presidential and congressional elections in the United States. Also, by studying the
percentage of voter turnout in every national election, we determine if voter turnout is declining by, A
country is considered to have declining turnout if its average percentage levels in the last three
decades have decreased by more than 2% compared to those of the first three decades (Ferrini, 2012).
Given that the US does meet this criteria, lets get into analyzing these competing theories. The voter
barrier explanation for the decline in voter turnout in US national elections was researched and
analyzed by, Fair Vote The Center for Voting and Democracy, organization. They classify these
barriers as being registration and the scheduling of elections during the workweek that intensify the
disparity in turnout between low and high income voters (Fair Vote, 2012). Given that Fair Vote does
recognize and acknowledge that this is not the only problem that has affected voter turnout to decline,
they do believe that it plays a substantial role in it. However, not only do they state that these

their reliance on one another, there is an underlying struggle for the two to deal with a conflicted
mother daughter relationship. While Sethe tries take advantage of her second chance with Beloved and
to make amends for her past actions, her and Beloved s ...shadows clashed and crossed on the ceiling
like black swords. (68) Sethe even becomes so obsessed with her guilt from murdering her child, that
she begins to waste away while Beloved only grows stronger. In her distress, Sethe pleaded for
forgiveness, counting, listing again her reasons: that Beloved was more important, meant more to her
than her own life. (284) At the same time, Denver sees the effects that Beloved his having on her
mother, and also becomes heavily reliant on Beloved. Unlike Sethe, however, Denver s obsession is
not driven by guilt, but by her loneliness and need for company. While stuck in a shed and unable to
locate Beloved, Denver breaks down crying as she believes that Beloved has left forever. Eventually,
as Sethe and Beloved s relationship becomes less and less inclusive of Denver, she finally breaks free
from her dependency and becomes much more mature. Morrison is able to use the mysterious aspects
of Beloved in order to force Sethe and Denver to face their greatest qualms. Sethe is given the
opportunity to not only be with her daughter again, but to apologize for what she did. In the same way,
Denver gets her sister back, even if only for a moment, but is once again abandoned by the one person

I Chose Roses And Birds Number 5 By Kiki Smith Essay
I chose Roses and Birds Number 5 by Kiki Smith as my western piece and for my non western piece I
chose a Spanish Colonial piece called Ornaments. I was originally drawn to Roses and Birds Number
5 because of the thin lines, the flowers, and how its fragility added an aura of femininity. Upon closer
inspection of the art, I appreciated the artist s use of Nepalese paper as her canvas. Unlike Kiki Smith
s piece, I wasn t immediately drawn to Ornaments. The metal, while shiny, looked cold and hard. The
piece is a floral arrangement, but looking at it I couldn t envision the soft petals of flowers. Once I put
aside my personal feelings and started observing the piece from the stand point of my Art
Appreciation class, I can see the effort and elements the artist must have used. That is why I chose it
as my contrast for this paper. In this paper, I will attempt to compare and contrast a western and non
western piece of art using the visual elements and the design principles I ve learned this semester. I
will also explain why I believe the western artist was influenced by non western art and give a brief
description of the artist and the culture that inspired them. Kiki Smith was born in Nuremberg,
Germany in 1954. Her father was an American artist who specialized in sculptor. Having a parent who
studied and practiced art would have no doubt given Kiki Smith the ability to expand her own artistic
pursuits from a young age. However, as she grew into adulthood, she

Marketing Orientations Avon s entrance into Canada, its first foreign market, was based on a sales
orientated marketing scheme and had little to do with product orientation. When the company
developed skin lightening creams in Asia and long lasting citrus fragrances in Mediterranean
countries, it exemplified a customer orientation, tailoring its products to meet specific consumer tastes
(Daniels, Radebaugh, Sullivan, 2011, p. 622). In China, the company changed its distribution channels

Additionally, the rising middle class sector in developing countries could help broaden Avon s client
base (Daniels et al., 2011).
Global Recession A country s economic environment shapes its foreign investment appeal (Daniels et
al., 2011, p. 173). For instance, a global recession could affect the ability of Avon s broad based
geographic portfolio to withstand a downturn in a particular region ( Avon, 2008, para. 9). This is
because customers view many of Avon products as nonessential luxuries and will not purchase such
items during financial hardships. As a result, worldwide profit decreases, which could halt
international growth and impede new product development. In situations like these, the firm must
reevaluate cost structures and make significant changes to its organizational and competitive strategies
in order to maintain gross profit margins (Daniels et al., 2011).
Competitive Advantages A corporation s competitive strategy influences how and where it can best

The Concert At The Athenaeum Theatre
The live performance that I attended was called Circling the Square. The performance consisted of
two pieces the first called Trio M and the Second called ASCENDance. The choreographer for these
pieces was Jan Bartoszek a highly skilled choreographer who has choreographed more than 65 dances
in her artistic career. The company that performed the pieces was Hedwig Dances a local Chicago
based Dance Company. The performance was held at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago from April
8th to April 9th, 2016. Each performance was a contemporary dance piece showing the strength of
each dancer s movements with different props to help express the meaning of each piece. The pieces
were independent from each other and had their own flow to them as well as story behind them. The
dancers for each piece showed discipline in their performance as well as physical strength; as modern
dance is all about having clean cut movement in order to fully express the story.
The first performance was called Trio M, performed by three male dancers and only one prop on the
stage, a red bench. The meaning behind the dance from what I could gather was that the red bench
signified much more than just a bench it exemplified power. The dancers had to compete with each
other to obtain the bench and gain the glory. The movements that the dancers produced were executed
with a sense of fluidity and expression. In order to covey the fight for dominance there had to be a
struggle to reach the red bench which

Stakeholder Theory Vs. Stakeholder Thinking
Stakeholder theory and definition
Stakeholder is defined as any group or individual who can affect or is affected by the achievement of
the organization s objectives (Freeman 1984). Stakeholder theory, when introduced in the 1980s,
signify a major change in how relationships within a business might coexist and benefit one another.
The concept of Stakeholder theory or stakeholder thinking is about identifying groups who are
stakeholder in a corporation and manage them. It states that organizations are collections of several
different parties, each with its own goals and objectives. Stakeholder concept has been used, either
explicitly or implicitly, for descriptive purposes, and also as a framework from which different
theories and ideas can be derived. It offers an proper lens for consideration of more composite
perspective of the value that stakeholders seek as well as new ways to measure it. Stakeholder
thinking has emerged to understand the three interrelated business problems indicating the problem of
how value is created and traded, problem of connecting ethics and capitalism, and the problem of
helping managers think about management. Stakeholder theory can be upstretched with a full different
collection of ethical questions without any context to other theories.
Concept of stakeholder theory
Stakeholder theory was introduced by R. Edward Freeman (1984), also known as the father of
stakeholder theory . His theory states that the individuals or groups that may

The United States Health Care System
The United States health care system is the most expensive in the world. It spends more than 16% of
its gross domestic product (GDP) on health care, (the highest per person in the world), but ranks
behind most countries on many measures of health outcomes, quality, and efficiency. In 2012, over 47
million people were un insured and millions were under insured⁎. The cost of health care is rising at
least twice as fast as the rate of economic growth. Major companies are passing more of the cost of
health care to their employees. Many small businesses cannot provide health insurance to their
employees. Individuals as well as companies are getting bankrupt due to the cost of health care.⁷
According to the National Healthcare Quality Report (NHQR) one of the most significant contributing
factor to poor quality of care for some of the core measures is health insuranceÂČ. Uninsured people are
less likely to get recommended care for disease preventionÂč. Proponents of the right to health care say
that healthcare should be provided to everyone in the United States. Opponents argue that a right to
health care imposes socialism and that it should be an individual s responsibility, not the government s

Apart from price/quality consideration there are other types of constraints such as brand loyalty,
customer satisfaction, switching barriers which determine a customer s choice of a particular product.
These factors also affect the decision making of a customer making choice of a logistic company to
transport goods and parcels. Powers of suppliers suppliers have a better bargaining power when there
are few large users of industry and companies like automobile companies. Also the bargaining power
of suppliers is influenced if the cost of switching suppliers is low. Threat of substitutes: the logistics
industry is a highly customer oriented business with multiple vendor options available. Hence it is
important for DHL to formulate a pricing/ delivery structure which is extremely competitive. Threat of
new entrants: established companies like DHL, FedEx, and UPS have certain advantages which are
inherent to the logistics industry. Amongst them are requirement of high capital, learning curve,
loyalty of customers to existing brand and the necessity for a strong distribution network.

Discuss How Nationalism Spread Across Europe with Napoleon...
Nationalism was formed with the idea that a nation is made up of people who are joined together by
common language, customs, cultures and history. It held the belief that one should be loyal to the
people of their nation, not a king or empire. Nationalists believed that people of a single nationality
should unite under a single government. The concept of Nationalism emerged in the French
Revolution and was spread to the rest of Europe by Napoleon s conquests. Nationalism was used by
Napoleon to make France a great power in Europe. Nationalism helped France to develop a national
language which was taught in schools to replace local dialects. This unification of language helped the
people of France to feel closer to each other, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First he wanted to surround France with strong countries to prevent further aggression by them.
Second he wanted to restore a balance of power so that no country would be threatened by another and
last he wanted to restore Europe s royal families to the throne. The Congress of Vienna was a victory
for the kings and royal families. Some countries had constitutional monarchies while others were
absolute monarchies. The rulers of Europe were concerned about the legacy of the French Revolution
and worried about revolutions starting elsewhere. Despite their efforts, the leaders of the Congress of
Vienna could not make people forget and although the first try at Nationalism had failed, it set new
political ideas in motion. Metternich devised a series of alliances called the Concert of Europe which
ensured that nations would help one another out if any revolution broke out. Across Europe,
conservatives kept a firm hold on the governments.
The Congress of Vienna influenced world politics for the next 100 years. Their effort to maintain a
balance of power diminished the power of France and increased both Britain and Prussia s power.
Internationally the Congress of Vienna was successful. For the next century European countries
seldom turned to war to solve their differences. Within counties though, revolutions were erupting. In
the first half of the 1800 s there were three schools of political followings; conservative, liberal and
radical. The

Semantics, Syntax, And Variation Of Language
When one takes an advanced grammar course, they are in for a new vision of learning and
understanding grammar. Most people are taught grammar as early as Elementary school, however,
they only recognize grammar for its functions in the written language and not the true meanings it has
on sentence structures and clauses. There are many views on the importance grammar usages.
Different Linguist has different theories. The two main grammar usages that are discussed are
Grammar Discourse and Cohesion. Linguistics is the study of the nature, structure, and variation of
language that includes phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and pragmatics ( Linguistics, n.d.,
p. 1). In Linguistics, discourse is defined as a unit of text described by ... Show more content on

124). Larger clauses that makeup of many sentences are considered linguistic items. Many books,
stories, poems, and even lectures include linguistic items. Many clauses in a story make up language
or utterances. Being able to distinguish the utterance in a lecture or story will help the listener identify
if the material is complete or incomplete. Texts consist of longer sentences that would make it hard for
the reader to clarify the subject in one sentence. Stages in narratives help the linguist point out the
events in the story. The stages breakdown the settings, events, and resolution of the narrative. The
structural scheme is identified, and all the stages of the narrative can be put into the correct order (
Test and Discourse, 2007, p. 7). Grammar and discourse can sometimes be two different types of
communication, but they can compliment each other. Mira Ariel described grammar and discourse as
Grammar specifies a set of language codes and guides speakers on how to properly construct
sentences, which are then conjoined by entirely different discourse principals into a coherent piece of
discourse (Ariel, 2009, p. 5). Not all texts are of equal value as some contains salient information that
brings the story to its climax. Salient text consists of main line verb clauses. Longacere calls this
method of discourse salient system.

The Life of Frank Lloyd Wright Essay
The Life of Frank Lloyd Wright
Before Frank Lloyd Wright was born his mother knew he was going to be a world renowned architect.
In his nursery, she hung prints of well known cathedrals of Europe on the walls. Frank Lloyd Wright
was born on June 8 ,1869. He was always very close to his mother, and when his father left Frank
went off to work to help his mother raise the other children. Frank s father also had a large impact on
his son s life. Able to play a dozen instruments, he taught Frank to play the piano, the violin and the
cello. He also taught Frank the importance of the acoustics, the way the sound vibrates off
obstructions, such as walls in a building. In the summer, Frank would go to Wisconsin to work on his

His aunt s, from the valley, wanted him to design a windmill for them that would stand out, Frank
succeeded. You could see the windmill for miles around.
At a dinner party Frank was offered four years of study at the Beaux Arts in Paris, two years in Rome
and a job when he returned. His family would also be taken care of. Frank refused this offer, because
he didn t want to build classical buildings, he wanted to build using a new innovative style. Not long
after Wright was building houses for himself, his partner, Cecil decided to go east and pursue a
different vocation. Wright missed him and finally moved into a loft that another friend rented.
Wright s stubbornness often scared away clients that wanted classical Greek style houses, but Frank
usually won clients over with his sincerity. Frank got a contract to build a factory building in Buffalo,
New York. Frank wanted to build around the function of the building. He even added a set of open air
stair cases that would allow air intake for the ventilation systems as well as a way of communicating.
Frank went to Buffalo for the interview and persuaded the owner to give extra money for the stair
cases. He got the job and hired a builder that he had worked with at Adler and Sullivans. Frank also
made the building fireproof by making the furniture steel and magnesite.
Next Wright built a temple that was unique because it had no

Neolithic Era Vs Paleolithic Essay
The Paleolithic Era V.S. The Neolithic Era
I am writing this paper to explain the intricate differences between the arts and cultural backgrounds
of the Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Era. This paper will help to better inform the reader on how
the two time periods used art to express their purpose and lifestyles. My main goal is to simply
differentiate the art tools and methods used throughout these two Eras by adding specific details and
hopefully painting a visual picture in the reader s mind.
The Paleolithic Era or (Old Stone Age) started around 2.6 million years ago and ended 10,000 years
ago. There were many human species in the Paleolithic era but only one species survived up until the
Neolithic Era (New Stone Age). Paleolithic Humans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Neolithic people had knowledge of farming and herding animals. These people were mainly
clothed in the skin of animals that they raised. Unlike the people of the Paleolithic era, the Neolithic
people were generally shorter and had lower life expectancies, however, the Neolithic woman
produced more children because the nomadic way of living was no longer practiced.
Art was very essential in both Eras. Art in the Paleolithic era was either portable or stationary. Their
art focused on attempts to control their environment by ritual mainly. The Paleolithic people used tools
made of wood, animal bones and stone to create works of art on the walls of their caves. They
believed to have animistic religious beliefs so they often decorated their dwellings with pictures of
deer mammoths and bison. They also made sculptures (Venus) using similar concepts.
The Neolithic Era basically introduced more of the human figures. They created images of human
figures more than they did animals. In this Era, tools such as stone, vessel and woven baskets and clay
were used. For sculptures they used stone and clay. The Neolithic people focused more on pottery and
architecture when portraying their artwork. Settled life started the development of pottery and
permanent architecture. Moreover, the Neolithic people were the first to apply pigment to a manmade

Why People Go Out And Commit Crimes
It has always been a part of the American society for women to become wives, then mothers, and
caretakers of her family s needs before anything else. For a woman to venture out into the world was
taboo and unheard of. Women that commit crimes was even an bigger monstrosity to think about. But
trends have been changing rapidly in our culture than now makes it even more likely for women to go
out and offend. Several theories have been created in an attempt to understand why people go out and
commit crimes. If one were to study what would be considered a mainstream theory, they would find
that they typically do not pertain to women offenders. Take heed, however, that feminist theories of
criminology do exists, but the application of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then the circumference around the city is where the crime rate would lessen, meaning the further
away one is from the center of the city, the less likely crime is to occur. The article by da Silva (2014)
further explains that:
Shaw and McKay affirmed that three structural factors low socioeconomic status, ethnic
heterogeneity, and residential mobility disrupt a community s social organization, which in turn
explains the spatial variations in the rates of crime and delinquency. Thus the community, treated as a
small area in the interior of the urban space, became the unit of analysis of the environmental
sociologist in the search for the causes of crime in large cities.
When a city is of low socioeconomic status, the residents are likely faced with many stresses that can
push them to commit crimes, like stealing clothes or food because they cannot afford to dress and feed
their families. A high ethnic heterogeneity can be problematic and crime causing because people tend
to get along with others that think and feel the same way they do, inciting lawbreaking. Residential
mobility refers to the ability of the residents in a high crime area to move freely to commit deviant
acts and a high rate of migration in and out of the city. With these three factors present in a
community, it will be considered disorganized, and the conditions for illegal behavior would be
perfect.

Why Should We Make Decisions On Experiences That They...
able to make decisions on experiences that they themselves could not understand. This really raised a
lot of questions to me about who is in power and how big of a problem it is the those in power are not
more diverse. We have struggled in society and have imprisoned so many behind stone walls of
racism, sexism, and homophobia (Rudacille 140).
It also raised awareness that the very same acts done by heterosexual couples were acceptable, and not
punishable in the confines of the home, but that gays were not even safe in private. After the decision
in Lawrence v Texas made by the U.S. Supreme Court, it was understood that the gay community had
a chance to move forward into the light even more, and that their fight for freedom would not
disappear. By declaring that it is unconstitutional to make arrests against gays in the home, it also
declared that homosexuals should have the same rights as everyone else. It made it more acceptable
and brought homosexuality into the light to where it was okay to talk about and dispute. Not only was
it just an invasion of liberty, as the Court thought , but also the case enforced a bad law, a Homosexual
Status Law, which made being gay a crime.
In writing this paper, I went back to the very beginning of our discussions, and looked at my very first
discussion post on the Stonewall Uprising. I realized, that while we did do a lot of court case focused
work, that I still learned a lot even outside of these cases. I wanted to post both my

The purpose of this lab was to determine the murderer of Fan C. Baker given samples of a pen used to
falsify Fan C. Baker s last will and testament and an unknown white solid from the crime scene using
both paper chromatography and physical property tests. We accomplished this purpose by conducting
a series of tests on both the crime scene samples and a collection of substances known to be possible

examine the various pigmented chemicals in each possible type of marker. After careful cross
examination, we determined that ink sample B (the ink found at the crime scene) matched the ink

Cardiac Substrate Metabolism: Cardiac tissue requires a continuous supply of oxygen and substrates
to rapidly produce energy that is largely used for maintaining contractile function. Cardiac myocytes
efficiently extract 65 70% of oxygen at rest and 80 85% during exertion from the blood [1]. During
normoxia when oxygen is not limiting cardiac myocytes derive 90% of their energy through oxidative
phosphorylation in the mitochondria, and the remainder from glycolysis [2, 3]. In a normal heart, 60
90% of acetyl CoA used in the Kreb s cycle is derived from ÎČ oxidation of fatty acids (FA) [4, 5]. The

High intracellular Ca2+ promotes myofibril hypercontracture following pH normalization [115], and
mPTP opening [114]. Ischemic depletion of ATP leads to the attenuation of the Na+/K+ ATPase in the
sarcolemma, leading to intracellular accumulation of Na+. High intracellular Na+ leads to a
subsequent disruption of Na+/Ca2+ antiporter in the sarcolemma [114], and Ca2+ accumulates in the
cytosol. The sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) normally sequesters intracellular Ca2+, but it becomes
either Ca2+ saturated [114], or SR sequestration is depressed due to ATP depletion [116]. An
important connection between calcium overload and ROS is the enzyme XO. XO is phosphorylated by
p38 kinase during hypoxia [117], after which it contributes to cytosolic generation of ROS. XO
indirectly reduces sarcoendoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase through the generation of ROS, which
leads to an intracellular accumulation of Ca2+ [109]. Its inhibition has been shown to reduce
intracellular Ca2+ concentrations

Results revealed discrepancy between both methods in evaluating adherence and suggested that
interpretation of compliance should not rely on one method, as there is no single objective and reliable
measure of compliance. Finally, it was suggested that adherence rate measured by tablet count was
comparable to adherence rate confirmed by both methods, and that almost half of patients assumed to
be medication adherent did achieve appropriate blood pressure control compared to only 14% of those
assumed not to be medication adherent [Onzeroot et al, 2010]. In summary, non compliance and
diversion may limit provision of OAT. While providing treatment via DoT can curb diversion, it may
be associated with reduced compliance. In addition, other measures applied with the objective of
achieving optimal compliance and minimal diversion include tablet counting, and UDS are not
effective if applied alone in monitoring compliance. Therefore, developing reliable tools for
monitoring compliance may contribute to optimising treatment outcomes. 5.2. Psychosocial
interventions A meta analysis of 35 studies examining the impact of adding psychosocial treatments in
4319 patients receiving OAT concluded that there is no value for adding psychosocial treatment to
OAT in treatment retention with a relative risk (RR) of 1.03. Similarly, there was no value found in
adding psychosocial treatments to OAT over OAT alone in achieving negative drug screens with

My Internship At New York University
Chris told me everything about his firm and his lifestyle there. I work in a financial advising firm that
specializes in comprehensive financial planning for their clients. I majored in finance at New York
University because I wanted to make a lot of money, and why not make a lot of money for others on
the way. I am at my current job because of an internship I did in the summer before my senior year. It
was my first internship in finance because I really did not know what I wanted to do in the field. Some
of my friends wanted to be investment bankers or go into corporate finance, but that industry did not
seem to interest me as much as it did for them. During my junior year, I interviewed for Merrill Lynch,
and secured the internship. The summer was great and I was given an offer to return full time as an
analyst. I think they gave me an offer over others because I got close with many of the people above
me. I networked extensively, trying to get coffee and chat with associates and analysts just to pick
their brain and really get to know everyone. I always made time to chat with them because I knew that
my supervisor would ask them about me; it was also a great time to learn from their experiences. I
remember some of the other interns only communicated with analysts and associates about work.
They didn t take the time to develop a genuine relationship with them and I believe that is why I was
chosen over some of them. My typical day as an analyst can be

The arrangement for the Champaign presents powerful and good elements for the inherent pressure by
the school system for the religious sects. The fact that the power has not been used so it can
discriminate is so beside the point. Separation is for the government and the religious sects not to be
fussing and also the treat them all equally. So that a child be offered an alternative that may reduce the
constraint. But somehow the results are an obvious pressure upon a child to attend. Frankfurter
continued to explain, that separation means separation, not something less than that. Jefferson s
metaphor is use to describe the relation between church and state speaks of this wall of separation, not
of a fine line easily overstepped. Public school is at once the symbol of everyone s democracy and the

  • 2. Economic and Political Strategies of China versus Japan... China and Japan From 1500 to 1800, China and Japan tried to politically and economically established their countries in very different ways. Japan fought war after war for a century before they changed their ways. China on the other hand slowly established a government and used education as a tool to be politically and economically strong. Japan would later do the same. China was one of the most politically and economically strong countries during 1500 1800. The state was identified as family. It brought unity and integration. The political system was an expanded role of Confucianism. From 1500 1800, China was the most highly commercialized non industrial society in the world. It was called Dyarchy. In 1683, Emperor K ang Hsi took over Taiwan. The Ming Ch ing was known as the perfected late imperial system. They had a stronger emperor, better government finances and used Confucianism as an ideology. They had more academies to prepare people for the civil service exams, more bookstores, publishing flourished, and literacy outpaced population. Some of Chinas major markets were grain, salt, timber, iron, and cotton. Silk was a major market that was spread all over the world. China used education and political growth to establish themselves. They grew slowly and were on of the strongest countries of their time. They were the strongest countries in international trade. They would stop growing in the late 19th century due to lack of technology at that time. Japan had two different eras s from 1500 to 1800. The Warring State s era was an all out war inside Japan from 1467 to 1600. The other was the Tokugawa era from 1600 to 1868. The wars came to an end and Japan established Government control and unity under Tokugawa Ieyasu s command. The Warring States era started in 1467 when a dispute over the next Ashika Shogun arrised. • 3. A Study On Observation Of Photoluminiscene A study on observation of photoluminiscene in Ruthenium based dye (cis diisothiocyanato bis(2,2 bipyridil 4,4 dicarboxylic acid)ruthenium (II)) Adlina Izny binti Ahmad Advanced Material Laboratory Faculty of Industrial Sciences Technology, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Kuantan, Malaysia Abstract Photoluminescence is light emission that form after the absorption of photons. Dye act as a light absorber. Organic dye is one type of dye, have a small band gap and use as semiconducting material. It will excite the excited electron after absorb light as energy from highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO) to lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO). The energy of photon must be greater than energy of band gap in order to excite electron. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dye always acts as a light absorber. Dye will absorb light to excite the excited electron state from HOMO to LUMO. So absorbed of photons will be happened and dye will fall back from LUMO to HOMO. So emission of photon will be happened. So the wavelength during absorbance and emission process can be identified by using Photoluminescene (PL) spectrometer. By knowing the wavelength we can determine the concentration of dye. Ruthenium dye is one of the organic dye where it contains small band gap, so it only needs small energy to excite the photon from LUMO to HOMO. So if the dye absorb red colour it will reflect blue colour (refer figure 1). Figure 1: a wheel of colour to estimate absorbed light based on colour of dye Objectives 1. To speculate range of absorbed and reflected wavelength of light by Ruthenium based dye based on its colour 2. To characterize photoluminescence property of the dye using Photoluminescence(PL) spectrometer; usng radiation source which energy is based on the speculated absorbed wavelength 3. To estimate energy loss via radiative recombination i.e., recombination of electron with hole in the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of dye. Materials and instruments PL spectrometer, gloves, 1000”L micropipette, deionized water, ethanol, 1 PL quarts cuvette, and cis diisothiocyanato bis(2,2 bipyridyl 4,4 dicarboxylic acid)ruthenium(II) dye (Solaronix) Figure 2: ... The History of African American Slavery The History of African American Slavery Tongela Vaughan Axia College of University of Phoenix The History of African American Slavery A slave is someone who is owned by another human. They do as they are told to do by their owners. African Americans had an unfair start in America, by being captured and brought over from Africa to be slaves. Do you know how slaves were treated? The conditions and treatment of slaves were different fromthe average American. Do you know how slavery came to an end? The slaves receivedtheir freedom in different types of ways. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once they saved enough money, they were able to buy their freedom Finally, slaves were able to see the light at the other end of the long tunnel of harsh treatment on the plantations. Slavery ultimately ended in the United States following Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, which freed slaves that were rebelling against the federal government. In 1865, slavery was abolished. Thanks to President Abraham Lincoln, the slaves were finally a free race. There was one thing that helped to keep the slaves believing that they would receive their freedom, and that they will see better days ahead. That was there firm belief in god. They would hold church, or what they would call religious revivals, out in a field. Having that belief kept them strong and held the families together that was not traded or auctioned off. Slave owners initially resisted evangelicals preaching to their bond people, but as the revival movement spread, a few came to consider it their Christian duty to teach their slaves about the bible. Converting their original religions to Christianity became part of accepting America as home. {draw:frame} This article advertises the trading or selling of African Americans who have been transported by boat to America. • 5. The Plot against People Essay The Plot against People Have you ever thought that the possibility exists that inanimate objects are in fact plotting against people in an effort to make our lives even more difficult than they actually are? In The Plot against People, Russell Baker, a newspaper columnist and humorist, adopts a wry view of the world in which he gives inanimate objects mischievous aims. As a class assignment, I was called upon to write my own version in the style of Baker. How often is it that we are late for work or school because we could not find our keys? On how many occasions have we humans been locked out of our dorms or houses and yet have our keys remain warm and cozy inside? These events are not isolated to one group of humans or to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason for their uprising is still unknown, but their numbers are strong; to every one person, there are about three keys. As Baker explains in The Plot against People, Many inanimate objects, of course, find it extremely difficult to break down. Therefore, they have had to evolve a different technique for resisting man. They get lost. Keys have power and they know it. We have all been through a time in our lives when we were trapped in our own homes because our keys were conveniently missing. Trapped in our own homes! Feelings of frustration and anger quickly build up, but meanwhile our keys stay tucked away in a dark cozy corner and snicker. They are at this point, where they want to be, in control and powerful. Russell Baker was right. Keys frequently travel through six or seven rooms to find hiding space under a couch. Our keys take pleasure in putting humans in embarrassing situations. They derive a certain degree of joy from it. They enjoy seeing us walk out of a room with just a towel wrapped around us and not being in our hands but, instead, lying between the warm covers. There, they wait for the sound of the slammed door and our frightful shriek. One of the most distressing events is having your keys locked in your car while you stand helpless and cold on the outside. This experience is not only nerve racking, but also costly, since, most times, a locksmith may have to be called in to get you back into your car. Keys have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He found refuge on a distant island after his brother, Antonio, seized Prospero s title and homeland. These events and experiences of being exiled advance character to become isolated and enriched at the same time. As a comic hero, Prospero start off as being frustrated and vengeful due to his separation from his title and homeland, but is later refined due to those experiences. Prospero s intentions throughout the play was to seek out vengeance towards his brother and all those who helped him in his betrayal. Through the work of Ariel, Prospero was able to capture those he shipwrecked but decides to forgive them. He also forgives Caliban after plotting to kill him while serving another master, these acts of change are key to the improvement and empowerment Prospero learns after being on the island. The is a growth and arch shown about the character as he states, The rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance. Prospero also shows enrichment of character when he sets Ariel free after commanding him to make smooth sailing upon the return to Naples and Milan, contrasting to the beginning of the play when Prospero seems ungrateful about the service of Ariel. The problem Prospero had that paved the way to him being exiled, was his obsession with studying his art/magic. It is through his experience on the island where he finally comes to realize that the source and self improvement that he needed to make was giving up his magic. This is symbolized by the throwing away of his books and his plea to the audience to release him from his bands . By giving up his magic, the reason he couldn t be an affective Duke, shows how his alienation on the island benefited him by allowing him to focus on his role and duty as ... Rice and black beans are a staple of most traditional Costa Rican meals, often served three times a day; gallo pinto, a breakfast dish of rice and beans mixed together with onions and bell peppers, is often considered the Costa Rican national dish. For lunch, the traditional meal is called a casado. It again consists of rice and beans served side by side instead of mixed. • 12. I Chose Roses And Birds Number 5 By Kiki Smith Essay I chose Roses and Birds Number 5 by Kiki Smith as my western piece and for my non western piece I chose a Spanish Colonial piece called Ornaments. I was originally drawn to Roses and Birds Number 5 because of the thin lines, the flowers, and how its fragility added an aura of femininity. Upon closer inspection of the art, I appreciated the artist s use of Nepalese paper as her canvas. Unlike Kiki Smith s piece, I wasn t immediately drawn to Ornaments. The metal, while shiny, looked cold and hard. The piece is a floral arrangement, but looking at it I couldn t envision the soft petals of flowers. Once I put aside my personal feelings and started observing the piece from the stand point of my Art Appreciation class, I can see the effort and elements the artist must have used. That is why I chose it as my contrast for this paper. In this paper, I will attempt to compare and contrast a western and non western piece of art using the visual elements and the design principles I ve learned this semester. I will also explain why I believe the western artist was influenced by non western art and give a brief description of the artist and the culture that inspired them. Kiki Smith was born in Nuremberg, Germany in 1954. Her father was an American artist who specialized in sculptor. The company that performed the pieces was Hedwig Dances a local Chicago based Dance Company. The performance was held at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago from April 8th to April 9th, 2016. Stakeholder theory, when introduced in the 1980s, signify a major change in how relationships within a business might coexist and benefit one another. The concept of Stakeholder theory or stakeholder thinking is about identifying groups who are stakeholder in a corporation and manage them. It states that organizations are collections of several different parties, each with its own goals and objectives. Stakeholder concept has been used, either explicitly or implicitly, for descriptive purposes, and also as a framework from which different theories and ideas can be derived. It offers an proper lens for consideration of more composite perspective of the value that stakeholders seek as well as new ways to measure it. Texts consist of longer sentences that would make it hard for the reader to clarify the subject in one sentence. Stages in narratives help the linguist point out the events in the story. The stages breakdown the settings, events, and resolution of the narrative. Thus the community, treated as a small area in the interior of the urban space, became the unit of analysis of the environmental sociologist in the search for the causes of crime in large cities. When a city is of low socioeconomic status, the residents are likely faced with many stresses that can push them to commit crimes, like stealing clothes or food because they cannot afford to dress and feed their families. A high ethnic heterogeneity can be problematic and crime causing because people tend to get along with others that think and feel the same way they do, inciting lawbreaking. Residential mobility refers to the ability of the residents in a high crime area to move freely to commit deviant acts and a high rate of migration in and out of the city. This really raised a lot of questions to me about who is in power and how big of a problem it is the those in power are not more diverse. We have struggled in society and have imprisoned so many behind stone walls of racism, sexism, and homophobia (Rudacille 140). It also raised awareness that the very same acts done by heterosexual couples were acceptable, and not punishable in the confines of the home, but that gays were not even safe in private. After the decision in Lawrence v Texas made by the U.S. Supreme Court, it was understood that the gay community had a chance to move forward into the light even more, and that their fight for freedom would not disappear. By declaring that it is unconstitutional to make arrests against gays in the home, it also declared that homosexuals should have the same rights as everyone else. It made it more acceptable and brought homosexuality into the light to where it was okay to talk about and dispute. Not only was it just an invasion of liberty, as the Court thought , but also the case enforced a bad law, a Homosexual Status Law, which made being gay a crime. In writing this paper, I went back to the very beginning of our discussions, and looked at my very first discussion post on the Stonewall Uprising. I realized, that while we did do a lot of court case focused work, that I still learned a lot even outside of these cases. I wanted to post both my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Fan C. Baker Lab The purpose of this lab was to determine the murderer of Fan C. Baker given samples of a pen used to falsify Fan C. Baker s last will and testament and an unknown white solid from the crime scene using both paper chromatography and physical property tests. We accomplished this purpose by conducting a series of tests on both the crime scene samples and a collection of substances known to be possible matches. To determine the nature of the ink sample, we used paper chromatography to separate and examine the various pigmented chemicals in each possible type of marker. After careful cross examination, we determined that ink sample B (the ink found at the crime scene) matched the ink sample of the Vis Ă  vis marker. Both ink samples displayed a range of pigmentation from light to dark grey, with a bright blue rim on the ethyl alcohol chromatography test and a yellow pink magenta purple blue progression on the water chromatography test. ... During the conductivity test, the conductivity meter showed that the aqueous form of each substance, sample 2 included, conducted electricity. As the conductivity test produced no conclusive data, we based our determination of sample 2 s nature on the reaction with acetic acid. Sample 2 s reaction was only comparable to that of baking soda, leading us to believe sample 2 is indeed baking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Cardiac Substrate Metabolism Lab Report Cardiac Substrate Metabolism: Cardiac tissue requires a continuous supply of oxygen and substrates to rapidly produce energy that is largely used for maintaining contractile function. Cardiac myocytes efficiently extract 65 70% of oxygen at rest and 80 85% during exertion from the blood [1]. During normoxia when oxygen is not limiting cardiac myocytes derive 90% of their energy through oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondria, and the remainder from glycolysis [2, 3]. In a normal heart, 60 90% of acetyl CoA used in the Kreb s cycle is derived from ÎČ oxidation of fatty acids (FA) [4, 5]. The remainder is derived predominantly from glucose, ketones, and amino acid metabolism [6]. In cardiac myocytes adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... High intracellular Ca2+ promotes myofibril hypercontracture following pH normalization [115], and mPTP opening [114]. Ischemic depletion of ATP leads to the attenuation of the Na+/K+ ATPase in the sarcolemma, leading to intracellular accumulation of Na+. High intracellular Na+ leads to a subsequent disruption of Na+/Ca2+ antiporter in the sarcolemma [114], and Ca2+ accumulates in the cytosol. The sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) normally sequesters intracellular Ca2+, but it becomes either Ca2+ saturated [114], or SR sequestration is depressed due to ATP depletion [116]. An important connection between calcium overload and ROS is the enzyme XO. XO is phosphorylated by p38 kinase during hypoxia [117], after which it contributes to cytosolic generation of ROS. XO indirectly reduces sarcoendoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase through the generation of ROS, which leads to an intracellular accumulation of Ca2+ [109]. Its inhibition has been shown to reduce intracellular Ca2+ concentrations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Structure And Delivery For Patients With Cbt, Counselling,... 5.1. Structure and delivery Whether delivered through specialty clinics or community pharmacies, OAT is, structured with elements aiming at monitoring treatment outcomes and minimising diversion [Thomas et al, 2013]. According to the WHO, OAT combines specific psychological and pharmacological interventions to reduce opioid use and its related harm, and to enhance quality of life [WHO, 2009]. While OAT covers approximately 10% of OUD patients, expanding and optimising outcomes of OAT observe several barriers classified as financial and suboptimal clinical practices [Nosyk et al, 2013]. Interventions to optimise outcomes from OAT include integrating pharmacotherapy with CBT, counselling, medication management, and the Community ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Results revealed discrepancy between both methods in evaluating adherence and suggested that interpretation of compliance should not rely on one method, as there is no single objective and reliable measure of compliance. Finally, it was suggested that adherence rate measured by tablet count was comparable to adherence rate confirmed by both methods, and that almost half of patients assumed to be medication adherent did achieve appropriate blood pressure control compared to only 14% of those assumed not to be medication adherent [Onzeroot et al, 2010]. In summary, non compliance and diversion may limit provision of OAT. While providing treatment via DoT can curb diversion, it may be associated with reduced compliance. In addition, other measures applied with the objective of achieving optimal compliance and minimal diversion include tablet counting, and UDS are not effective if applied alone in monitoring compliance. Therefore, developing reliable tools for monitoring compliance may contribute to optimising treatment outcomes. 5.2. Psychosocial interventions A meta analysis of 35 studies examining the impact of adding psychosocial treatments in 4319 patients receiving OAT concluded that there is no value for adding psychosocial treatment to OAT in treatment retention with a relative risk (RR) of 1.03. Similarly, there was no value found in adding psychosocial treatments to OAT over OAT alone in achieving negative drug screens with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. My Internship At New York University Chris told me everything about his firm and his lifestyle there. I work in a financial advising firm that specializes in comprehensive financial planning for their clients. I majored in finance at New York University because I wanted to make a lot of money, and why not make a lot of money for others on the way. I am at my current job because of an internship I did in the summer before my senior year. It was my first internship in finance because I really did not know what I wanted to do in the field. Some of my friends wanted to be investment bankers or go into corporate finance, but that industry did not seem to interest me as much as it did for them. During my junior year, I interviewed for Merrill Lynch, and secured the internship. The summer was great and I was given an offer to return full time as an analyst. I think they gave me an offer over others because I got close with many of the people above me. I networked extensively, trying to get coffee and chat with associates and analysts just to pick their brain and really get to know everyone. I always made time to chat with them because I knew that my supervisor would ask them about me; it was also a great time to learn from their experiences. I remember some of the other interns only communicated with analysts and associates about work. They didn t take the time to develop a genuine relationship with them and I believe that is why I was chosen over some of them. My typical day as an analyst can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Justice Hugo L Black Case The board of education was in Champaign County, Illinois which had let teachers with religious beliefs come into the public schools to provide 30 to 45 minutes of weekly religion instructions for the kids in grades fourth though ninth that was in public schools. Parents had printed cards that they signed authorizing that their children were able to attend these classes, and absences were reported to the school authorities. The ones that did not attend the religious instructions were not excused from any of their regular classes. The teachers were employed by the Champaign Council on religious education at no cost to the schools. They had classes that were offered to the Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish students. The arrangement for the Champaign presents powerful and good elements for the inherent pressure by the school system for the religious sects. The fact that the power has not been used so it can discriminate is so beside the point. Separation is for the government and the religious sects not to be fussing and also the treat them all equally. So that a child be offered an alternative that may reduce the constraint. But somehow the results are an obvious pressure upon a child to attend. Frankfurter continued to explain, that separation means separation, not something less than that. Jefferson s metaphor is use to describe the relation between church and state speaks of this wall of separation, not of a fine line easily overstepped. Public school is at once the symbol of everyone s democracy and the pervasive means for promoting our common destiny. The act of the state is not vital to keep out divisive forces than in its schools, so it can avoid confusion, not to say fusing, the constitution promised to keep strictly ...
