KEY TAKEaWAY
There was general interest in our product but...there
was something odd about our value proposition
Ourinitialpremise
Our team was formed to start a company based upon
hardware technology that we had built to serve office
space that monitors space optimization, energy usage
and environmental health.
“We think you’d have to
make a big pivot.”
Lookingback,wewishthatweknew…
We had a solution but not a problem

ABITTER PILL:“youhaveavitamin, notmedicine”
WEEKS1-2
Wequicklylearned
We have to be open to not being a hardware company
Finding clear product-market fit is hard!
That we should have been focusing on finding a
problem rather than validating a problem we thought
that we should solve.

UNCERTAINTY LEADING TOLOST MOMENTUM
WEEKS5-6
“You’re circling around a very hot
space! But need to zero in on the exact
painkiller.”
We were trying to determine which feature was
the core value proposition, and should have
made a decision to move in one direction
Instead, fragmentation in the team grew,
leading to unfocused, confusing interviews

“This is awesome. Challenges integrating remote
with the in-person workforce remains in my
perspective the biggest challenge.”
- Human Capital, Deloitte
“I really like it. It feels natural and I can see how it
slides into the way I work. Also having a open /
closed door that you can always see is a good
mental cue to remind yourself to talk to others.”
- Head of Talent / HR, Nova Pioneer
“I would love to use it. I like how it looks - friendly
and neat.”

  16. We were excited about our new focus and pivot toward collaboration, but we weren't quite sure how to move forward.
  17. We designed and tested our first SaaS MVP, but it was a sort of swiss army knife solution. It featured collaboration and virtual office tooling as well as hardware-derived occupancy and space utilization data
  18. Meanwhile feedback from interviews suggested focusing on a software solution and ditching hardware.
  19. Our team was losing alignment as we did not have a unified vision of what our solution would look like.
  20. This impacted our performance in the following weeks, as we felt pulled toward hybrid collaboration but unsure of our key insight or value proposition.
  21. We were speaking with potential customers who confirmed that employee engagement and hybrid and remote collaboration are top-of-mind problems for companies right now,
  22. But we disagreed within the team about the best way to address the issue and what an effective solution would look like. Our interviews were becoming unfocused and less productive, so we hit pause
  23. We brainstormed all of the key solutions we were considering, their pros, their cons, and then we put it to a vote. And the winner was hybrid space collaboration! We decided as a team to move forward all-in with this single focus, and Leia will continue the story here
