2.  The word 'nature' has several different

7.  AirPollution :- Is defined as contamination of
hazardous gases which is released in the air,
which disturbs natural composition and
chemistry of air.
 Water Pollution :- involves any contaminated
water, whether from chemical, particulate, or
bacterial matter that degrades the water's
quality and purity.

8.  Soil Pollution:- Soil, or land pollution, is
contamination of the soil that prevents natural
growth and balance in the land whether it is used
for cultivation, habitation, or a wildlife preserve.
 Noise pollution:- It refers to undesirable levels of
noises caused by human activity that disrupt the
standard of living in the affected area.

10. What the colors mean --These measurements show concentrations of
carbon monoxide (CO) at altitudes of 15,000 feet. Red colors in
these images indicate highest levels of CO (450 parts per billion).
Blue colors indicate lowest levels of CO (50 ppb). Terra sees CO in
the atmosphere from 2-3 miles above the surface, where it interacts
with other gases and forms ozone. This pollutant can move upward
to altitudes where it can be blown rapidly for great distances or it
can move downward to the surface. CO is an air pollutant that also
produces ozone, a greenhouse gas that is a human health hazard.

16. This era has rightly been called as the era of noise. Because heavy
industrialization we are exposed to a high level of noise all around us.
Noise has become a very important stress factor in modern life. It leads
many health hazards. Some of the sources of noise pollution are
aircraft, automobiles, factories, loudspeakers & pop& Rock-n-Roll music
in clubs
. Noise produces following health problems-

17.  The sources/causes of noise pollution increased or probably
originated with the invention of machines. Let us have a
look at the various noise pollution causes in detail.
Traffic: It is the biggest source of noise pollution in today's
times, especially in urban areas. In the past few years the
number of automobile vehicles has increased manifold.
Thus, traffic problems created by these vehicles is an
important source of noise pollution. The sound produced by
the exhaust systems of trucks, autos, buses, motorcycles,
etc. cause a lot of noise.

18.  Industrial Noise: The various machines used in industries are also
a major cause of noise pollution. The different machines which
are responsible for creating noise include the compressors,
motors and other machinery. It is therefore recommended to
grow trees in the premises of industries, which act as absorbents
of noise. The trees grown in the premises of 'Tata Motors' an
automobile company based in India is a perfect example of how
to reduce noise pollution in the industrial belts.
Railway Stations: Locomotive engines of trains are an important
source of noise pollution. Besides, the shunting and switching
operations in rail yards too cause noise pollution to a great
extent. The whistles and horns being used by the railway
employees add to the effect and increase noise pollution.

19.  Soil
pollution refers to an increased
level of harmful human-made
chemicals in the natural soil
environment.
Industrial pollutants and pesticides
are two major soil pollution sources.
Soil pollution can lead to serious
water contamination and therefore
create huge health issues.

20.  Soil pollution is a result of many activities and
experiments done by mankind which end up
contaminating the soil : Industrial wastes such
as harmful gases and chemicals, agricultural
pesticides, fertilizers and insecticides are the
most common causes of soil pollution.
 Ignorance towards soil management and
related systems.
 Unfavorable and harmful irrigation practices.
 Improper septic system and management and
maintenance of the same.

21.  Leakages from sanitary sewage.
 Acid rains, when fumes released from
industries get mixed with rains.
 Fuel leakages from automobiles, that get
washed away due to rain and seep into the
nearby soil.
 Unhealthy waste management techniques,
which are characterized by release of
sewage into the large dumping grounds and
nearby streams or rivers.

22. There are many factors which control the soil
pollution. It includes the limited use of fertilizers and
pesticides. The grazing must be controlled and forest
management should be done properly. The forestation
and reforestation must be done. In areas of wind
erosion wind breaks and shields must be used. The
soil binding grass must be planted and the large trees
must be placed along the banks. The industrial wastes
must be dumped in the low lying areas. There is a
definite technique of cropping which does not allow
the weeds to settle on the fields. The mining ways
must be improved along with their transportation.

25. We know that certain environmental conditions like
air , water,& food are essential for man & survival.
Apart from their availability their quality & quantity
must be assured according to man , natural &
acquired capacity for sustenance progress in
industrialization has brought environmental
hazards such as air water & noise pollution. These
have caused many health problems & diseases.
