IDE platform choices are something that PM alone will not be able to affect
Because these are largely lead by engineering efforts and these tools are do not address the needs that PM’s have with regards to business analysis. Some have “Product Manager” modules, but they are purely requirements management functionalityForrester, “These vendors haven’t yet made it possible to implement requirements management alone, and until they do, shops that are looking only for requirements management should look elsewhere. Using nothing more than the requirements management functionality in an ALM solution is like buying an expensive home theatre just to watch the news.”Can be modified to suite Marketing Requirements
I love SaaS, and it is the wave of the future, BUT … vendors are being careless and lazy.

You don’t want to try pitching to Exec for a very complicated tool if they will not utilize the dashboards and not all the functionality will not be used because you don’t have the time bandwidth to use the full functionality
Software is like cars - different strokes for “different folks and no one “best solution” for everyone. What are you trying to do (off-road versus mileage or street performance)?Capacity (number of passengers and their needs)?Styling & Service (visual appeal, usability, training and support interactions)Cost
All PM solutions will require integration with IDE’s
