The Copyright, Designs and Patent Act (1988) By Christopher Ash
The act makes it: Illegal To steal Or create Unauthorised copies Of software E.g. books, CDs, music etc. What are the main provisions of the act?
If a person get caught copying books etc. then the person who created the book or music can take the person to court and sued them! If people copy items and distribute them they do not receive any money. Companies who invest time and money into projects will reap the benefits Advantages
A lot of people break this law and it’s hard to catch people Some people don’t realise that copying software is illegal. Also people think that because nobody can see then it isn’t a crime Disadvantages
Companies use patents to protect the process of making their product and the product itself Authors of books use copyright to protect their book from people trying to copy it. Copyright is also used in the protection of CDs, films etc. Who uses it?
