and marketing
• 15 shops participated in total
13. Workshops for Newbies
PROS
• Detailed and personalized
review for each shop
• Easy to understand
• Focused on topics the
participants were
interested in
• Great way to meet new
members
• All participants felt the
workshop had enlightened
them
14. Workshops for Newbies
CONS:
• Not enough room for a big number of
participants
• Only three people were involved in organizing
the workshops and the same ones acted as
instructors
15. Best Practices Checklist for
Running a Newbie Workshop
• Organize it at least a month in
advance
• Find a venue that will hold about 10
people at a time
• There should be at least 6 people
involved (depending on the number
of participants)
– One or two to schedule the event
and inform members
– Four or more experienced members
to act as “instructors”
16. Best Practices Checklist for
Running a Newbie Workshop
• The team is informed via the forum and our
yahoo mailing list (a system to convo all team
members is needed!)
• Word of mouth communication for people
interested in opening their own Etsy shop
• No costs involved as they were held at a
members house.
• This helped raise money for the team that were
used in other events
17. EGST Plans for 2014
• Add some new leaders to
the team and train them!
• Manage our growing
numbers
• Task allocation
• Step back and focus on
our goals and
accomplishments over the
past few years.
