Semana Santa, or Holy Week, is a Christian festival commemorating the Passion of Jesus Christ. It is celebrated during the last week of Lent, beginning on Palm Sunday and culminating on Easter Sunday. During Semana Santa, Spanish towns hold elaborate processions featuring penitents carrying symbolic crosses and floats depicting scenes from Jesus' crucifixion and burial.
