pengalaman yang menyakitkan bagi Dira, terlebih ketika

The need for greater coverage can arise for at least two
reasons:
1. A particular person or persons may have an unusual
life circumstance that plays an important part in the
entire study;
2. A meaningful scene or dialogue may extend over a
protracted period of time.

EXAMPLE:
Pemerkosaan dilakukan Alex bukan hanya satu kali, tetapi
beberapa kali, dan semuanya terjadi setelah Dira tidak lagi
berpacaran dengannya. Pada kali pertama, Dira masih berusaha
untuk menolak dan secara fisik mencegah pemerkosaan terjadi.
Setelah beberapa kali, Dira menyadari bahwa penolakannya
adalah sia-sia. “I said nothing. Don’t get me wrong! I never wanted
that [pemerkosaan] to happen. Never! But… [menghela nafas] I…
didn’t know how to… you know… how to… [menangis].”

EXAMPLE:
Perpisahan Dira dengan Alex terjadi satu tahun sebelum
pemerkosaan terjadi. Dira memutuskan untuk mengakhiri
hubungan cinta tersebut setelah mengetahui bahwa Alex sering
melakukan kekerasan fisik pada mantan kekasih Alex semasa Alex
masih berpacaran dengan mereka. Intan, sahabat Dira, yang
memberitahukan informasi ini sekitar satu tahun setelah Dira
berpacaran dengan Alex. “At first, I thought she lied, but then…
turned out that he’s the one who lied to me all this time,” katanya.
Membutuhkan waktu satu bulan bagi Dira untuk meneguhkan
niatnya memutuskan hubungan cintanya dengan Alex.

Participants, But Not Focusing on

the Life Story of Any of Them
• The narrative still includes mixtures of quotations and
dialogue with individual participants, but the same
individuals are not necessarily tracked from one issue to
the next;
• The text refers to the experiences of different
participants, depending on the relevance and suitability
of their experiences to the topic.

EXAMPLE:
Pemerkosaan yang dialami oleh Dira, Cindy, dan Laura, memang
tidak mereka duga akan terjadi. Tetapi mereka sudah menduga
bahwa kekasih mereka merupakan orang-orang yang mungkin
melakukan kekerasan fisik, sekalipun pada saat berpacaran
tindak kekerasan itu tidak pernah muncul. Dugaan ini setidaknya
didasari oleh informasi yang diberikan dari orang-orang terdekat
mereka. Mereka pernah mencoba mengklarifikasi hal ini kepada
kekasih mereka, tetapi disangkal.

 about a Study’s Participants EXAMPLE: Perpisahan Dira dengan Alex terjadi satu tahun sebelum pemerkosaan terjadi. Dira memutuskan untuk mengakhiri hubungan cinta tersebut setelah mengetahui bahwa Alex sering melakukan kekerasan fisik pada mantan kekasih Alex semasa Alex masih berpacaran dengan mereka. Intan, sahabat Dira, yang memberitahukan informasi ini sekitar satu tahun setelah Dira berpacaran dengan Alex. “At first, I thought she lied, but then… turned out that he’s the one who lied to me all this time,” katanya. Dugaan ini setidaknya didasari oleh informasi yang diberikan dari orang-orang terdekat mereka. Mereka pernah mencoba mengklarifikasi hal ini kepada kekasih mereka, tetapi disangkal.
