The Roi For The Bix Box Stores Training Program Essay
1. The Roi For The Bix Box Stores Training Program Essay
The ROI for the Bix Box Stores training program for one year is 225% or 2:25. The company made
a net profit of $2.25 for every dollar spent on the training program. I calculated the ROI by
subtracting the training costs from the benefits, dividing by the training costs and multiplying by
100. $78,000– $24,000 equals $54,000. $54,000 divided by $24,000 equals 2.25 times 100 equals
225% (Noe, 2016). In order to compute the ROI, I calculated the costs and benefits to use in the
ratio.
First I calculated the costs of the cost–benefit analysis. The direct costs are the instructor's fees of
$8,000.00, instructor's benefits of $2,000.00 (25% of salary,) materials of $6,000.00 ($60.00 times
100 trainees,) and distance learning costs of $5,000.00. Direct costs total $21,000.00. Next I
computed the compensation for trainees. The total compensation for trainees is $3,000.00. I
determined this by multiplying the trainees' salaries of $12.00 per hour times 2 hours times the
number of employees (100) which equals $2,400.00. The trainees' benefits are 25% of their salary.
The total salary of $2,400.00 times 25% equals $600.00. $600.00 plus $2,400.00 equals the total
trainee compensation of $3,000.00. The total cost of the training program per trainee is $240.00. I
calculated this by adding the direct costs of $21,000.00 and the total compensation of $3,000.00 and
dividing this total of $24,000.00 by 100 employees (Noe, 2016). Then I determined the benefits for
the cost–benefit analysis.

9. Denver's New Airport Essay
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Denver International Airport is undergoing innovative change
through various initiatives, and policies. Given that DIA is the country's largest airport, it is vital for
budgetary and project planning be addressed and redeveloped into an efficient and productive
manner. As the lead consultant of management, I am responsible for assessing the cost and service
challenges in relation to the construction and operation of the new airport in Denver, Colorado.
Furthermore, the comprehensive report provided will recommend solutions and strategies that
address these cost and service problems. The information collected indicated that the DIA needs

The purpose of the administration developing newer policies is to "provide clear and thorough
guidance to airport sponsors on the conduct of project–level benefit–cost analysis for capacity–
related airport projects." (FAA, 1999) The administration encourages the use of innovative methods
to quantify benefits and cost that yields project merit. Undergoing the development of any new
airport requires a great deal of strategic planning. Therefore, this comprehensive report provides an
analysis of cost, construction, and operation. As the Denver International Airport (DIA), plans for
longevity there are some general objectives consisting of the following: proposed project, potential
benefits, and data used to access the project. The proposed project should interpret capacity projects
to include those involving new construction or reconstruction of airport infrastructure intended to
accommodate or facilitate airport traffic. Potential benefits and recognizing all benefits and costs are
not described in monetary or even in quantitative terms. The data should be technical and relevant
for best practices of the new airport such as the BCA. (See Appendix p.17 Graph). The BCA
represents the ratio of total benefits over total costs, both discounted accordingly. Benefit cost
analysis is the best choice when constructing for a new airport because the results provides a strong

13. Alternative Main Post Option For Risk Management
Alternative main post option: In at least 250 words, thoroughly answer one the review questions at
the end of the chapter assigned in the reading assignment.
Chapter 9 Question 13) What is a cost benefit analysis? The use of the risk management process to
identify and mitigate risk of information system is one of the best way to ensure the protection and
security of information system. This often requires information security employees to assess the
criticality of each system and all of the vulnerabilities the system has. To mitigate the risk of
compromise on each system often requires the purchase of new software or devices which can be
quite costly. This is why the use of a cost benefit analysis is a crucial part of risk management. Cost
benefit analysis works on a very simple concept which shows economic feasibility. This require you
to identify all of the cost and then identify all of the benefits that could result. This can allow you to
identify if the total cost is worth all of the resulting benefits. For example, if a critical system has a
vulnerability that requires the purchase of a new firewall to fix, You would look at the total cost of
the firewall's purchase, configuration, installation, and any other cost that might be incurred and
compare it to the total benefits that will result such as closing a vulnerability, lowering the risk level
of a critical system, ensuring compliances, avoiding fines due to data breaches. This helps to show
that in this case the

1. What moral issues does the Pinto case raise?
The moral issues about the Ford Pinto is that they take their profit is more important than human
life. They also did not inform the consumer about the facts of the Pinto. Lastly, they also lobbied the
safety of the car to lowest standard (Shaw, Barry & Sansbury 2009, pp 97–99). (44 words)
2. Suppose Ford officials were asked to justify their decision. What moral principles do you think
they would invoke? Assess Ford's handling of the Pinto from the perspective of each of the moral
theories discussed in this chapter.

The only morally relevant matter is whether Ford gave equal consideration to the interests of each
affected party. Do you think Ford did this?
Utilitarians means measuring overall happiness (Shaw, Barry & Sansbury 2009, pp 64–70). In
this topic, Ford only care about his own profit and never care about other's life. Ford even calculated
how much it cost for a human life. The damage for society and human life is not acceptable in
Utilitarianism. (44 words)
4. Is cost–benefit analysis a legitimate tool? What role, if any, should it play in moral deliberation?
Critically assess the example of cost–benefit analysis given in the case study. Is there anything
unsatisfactory about it? Could it have been improved upon in some way? Yes, cost–benefit is a
legitimate tool. "Cost–Benefit Analysis (CBA) estimates and totals up the equivalent money value
of the benefits and costs to the community of projects to establish whether they are worthwhile" (An
Introduction to Cost Benefit Analysis). But cost benefit analysis is just for calculating the benefit of
the company, in a mathematical way. It shouldn't play in moral deliberation, there is no way to
calculate human life or we can say as the potential that human have. We also can see that there is
unsatisfactory about the cost–benefit analysis simply by measuring only the benefits of Ford it's
own. In this case, cost–benefit analysis should improve by adding other stakeholder benefit to

21. The Inmate Population And The Budget Of The Wisconsin...
The problem to be addressed in this policy memo concerns the size of the inmate population in
Wisconsin and the budget of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Throughout this memo I will
look at the current situation and how it arose with regard to the justice system in Wisconsin, while
examining the scale of the issue and looking at the whether the various options would help tackle
the issue at hand. In consideration of the analysis I have done, I would suggest further increasing
funding for Treatment Alternative Diversion (TAD) programs for reasons that will become clear.
Background Summary
In Wisconsin the prison population and the budget has been growing for years and looks to keep on
rising as the inmate population has risen from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With these statistics in mind the budget and inmate population is likely to increase as time goes on if
action is not taken in the near future. A large portion of the increase could be attributed to the
national war on drugs and Wisconsin's truth in sentencing laws which have led to more people being
arrested and those who are arrested remaining in correctional facilities for a longer period of time.
These policy actions coincide with the rise of the budget and inmate numbers as can be seen that the
DOC budget went from Wisconsin's 7th largest expenditure in 1989 to it 3rd largest in
2009(Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance, 2010). One solution suggested to reducing the budget is to try
to reduce the number of people being returned to prison without a new sentence as in 2014 they
made up 42.9% of prison admissions (WI DOC, 2014) some of these have been for technical
violations such as showing up late for a meeting with a parole supervisors. The suggestion to reduce
these prison admissions would be for sanctions courts to be set up which don't send the parolee back
to prison for technical violations straight away but rather sanctions them with actions such as
electronic monitoring, counseling or community service, a similar program to this has already been
tried in

25. Give And Take By Adam Grant
Give and Take is a book written by Adam Grant to describe his view of economic drivers and
motivations through the lens of his theory of Give and Take. Economics is the study of how people
make choices under scarcity and the results of these choices for society and Mr. Grant asserts that
success isn't just achieved by those who take it; but the majority of success goes to individuals who
are willing to look out for others at their potential detriment. According to Grant, the perception of
givers are often taken advantage, his research indicates that givers make up a majority of those at the
top of the success ladder, even though they are more likely to "sacrifice their own interests to benefit
others. Give and Take compares to economic theories like scarcity, cost/benefit analysis,
equilibrium, and opportunity costs. To better understand the principles of economics through the
lens of Give and Take, one must understand the concepts of Grant's Give and Take as a description
of day to day operations as they relate to well established economic theories.
From a Takers perspective, they believe in order to succeed Takers must prove that they are useful
and better than others. Takers also boast about their accomplishments and make sure they receive all
due credit. Grant claims that Takers "like to get more than they give." Alternatively, Givers are
individuals who prefer to give more than they receive. While Takers are focused on what others can

29. Business Impact Analysis of Russell Landing Marina Essay
Business impact analysis is the process of systematically addressing all of the risks associated with a
solution and identifying if it actually worked. Many formulas exist, designed to show what factors
are included when compiling an analysis. The simple formula of multiplying threats by your asset
and dividing that total by mitigating factors represents an impact analysis. Threats are those
instances that cause an operational or financial strain on your organization. These occurrences are
the cause of limited operations during business hours or no operations at all and computed in time.
Assets are defined as many elements, but are primarily composed of "physical assets (equipment,
material, supplies, furnishings, etc.) that are owned by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Damoense, M. Y., & Agbola). The threat in this situation is the person–hours potentially lost based
on having too many employees and not enough work. The inverse is also important as you could
have a small number of employees with a lot of business and then customer satisfaction suffers,
driving profits down. All the equipment owned as well as the facility are considered assets in this
situation. Potential revenue is also included in this figure. Without changing anything, there would
be no mitigating factors so an analysis would concur that nothing obviously changed.
Active Impact on Future Operations As noted previously, the threats and assets do not change. There
is the same latent problem of losing person–hours based on not appropriating for business that day.
This causes lost revenue either paid to the employee or not paid by the potential customer. The
difference between the idle impact and active impact is that the mitigating factor changes the
analysis figures. The solution would be to be able to track usage of the facility and correlate that to
semi–public deployment schedules. Knowing how much of the base is gone at any given point in
time can help with the expected number of customers per day. This is linked to a percentage in terms
of customers and total available customers (active duty military and their family living on base).
This mitigating factor will dramatically reduce the costs associated

Pathways to Desistance helps courts clarify policy debates about the best way to serve adolescent

A cost–benefit analysis is a formal way of analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of one thing
as opposed to another where the results are in dollar–and–cents. In addition, a cost–benefit analysis
allows people to make better decisions.11 A cost–benefit analysis is different from a program
evaluation. A program evaluation will answer the question: Does this program work? The cost–
benefit analysis, however, ask, does the dollar value of a program's demonstrated level of success
exceed the cost of the program? Additionally, how does one program's economic bottom line
compare to another similarly analyzed program? A cost–benefit analysis of juvenile re–entry and
prevention programs involves estimating the dollar value of the reduction in recidivism.11 An
efficient cost–benefit analysis seeks to determine the long–run cost and benefits of one program
over another program and offers policy alternatives.
The Juvenile Justice Evaluation Center offers five fundamental steps of a cost–benefit analysis of
juvenile justice programs which are to add up the monetary benefits, subtract the costs, see if the
resulting bottom line is positive or negative, compare the estimated bottom line to the returns

45. The Ethical Theory Of Property
The Utilitarian theory of property seeks to maximize the population's utility when a property
decision is made, the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. To apply this theory one must
define and aggregate a measure of utility comparable for all people in a cost–benefit analysis. A
popular measure for utility, under the welfarist economics utilitarian view, is utilizing the price a
person is willing to pay for a good or service as the value aggregated in the cost–benefit analysis.
However, a strict welfarist utilitarian analysis will not work in this instance because welfarisim is
too individualistic and decisions regarding public property and disability access will necessarily

Price seems to be the best measure for utility as almost anything can be commodified and priced by
members of the population. Furthermore, other economic measures, such as how a decision
increases a person's wealth, will not reach the full population affected by this decision as some
parties, like tourists do not have their wealth increased by such a public property decision.
Determining the value that individuals place on the property in question on Beacon Hill, the historic
sidewalks and ramps necessitates looking into the different groups of interested individuals affected
by the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp decision. Individuals with disabilities that require accessible
handicapped ramps pose a problem for determining a value these individuals would give the Beacon
Hill handicapped ramp decision. This is because Beacon Hill serves many different functions to
people. For those people with disabilities that live on Beacon Hill, updated handicapped ramps
could mean the difference having access to their homes or having to move. For this group it is easy
to determine a value of welfare and benefit they derive from Beacon Hill as the price they are
willing to pay to live in the area. Next still within the category of persons with disabilities is the
value to such persons of their ability to get to their jobs. Beacon Hill is populated with various

61. Impact of Cost-Benefit Analysis on Industry Decision...
Impact of Cost–benefit analysis on industry decision making: Transportation
Cost–benefit analysis (CBA), in essence, is a tool for decision making. It can be applied to almost
any kind of decision in any kind of field. In its most pure form, a CBA will aggregate the pros and
cons (positive and negative effects) of a proposal, and, if the pros (benefits) outweigh the cons
(costs), the proposal is viable. Usually, the analyst will assign monetary values to each of the costs
and benefits, hence making the analysis easier to calculate, even if the cost and benefits per se are
intangible, and thus, not directly expressible in money values. Problems often arise in how to assess
the monetary values of both tangible and intangible effects, which ... Show more content on

Any threat to the reliability of the transportation network constitutes a vulnerable spot, a weakness.
This is of particular concern when considering sparse, rural networks, because what by urban
standards is a minor degradation (i.e. car accident, resulting in queuing, delays and diversions) may
have severe consequences if occurring in a rural setting (i.e. blocking the only access road for
hours).
In the most common manner of speaking, the reliability of a transportation network can be defined
as the probability that one or more of its links functions, or rather: does not fail to function,
according to a set standard of operating variables. A non–functioning, or at best, badly–functioning
link will impose costs on the user in terms of loss of time, additional operation costs or other costs
as a result of delays and diversions. Transporters of perishable goods will also experience a loss of
value. Few will question that the sender, the recipient, the freight hauler, or society at large,
experience additional costs when goods or people cannot reach their destinations in time or in space
(Husdal, 2004).
The increase in just–in–time (JIT) manufacturing operations has made a reliable travel time an
important economic factor. JIT relies on the transportation system to take advantage of lowcost labor
and manufacturing plant development costs. Producing components in several manufacturing plants

65. Cost Benefits Of A National Park
Cost benefit analysis can be used to assist in the decision making of a proposed project. The
proposed project is to make a scenic forested area into a national park. However there is controversy
as the opposition wants to use the land for timber and agriculture. The first step in conducting a
CBA is to identify the costs and benefits of the proposed project (Harris et al 2006). Benefits will
include income gained as well as indirect benefits such as environmental benefits. The benefits of a
national park are income from tourist and camping areas. The land can be used for carbon
sequestration and to reduce pollution and natural disasters such as the effect of flooding. Costs
include any direct expenses related to the project such as construction and maintenance costs. Costs
also include opportunity costs such as income forgone from the agriculture and timber industries.
Identifying the costs and benefits of a project is the first step; the next step is to identifying the value
of these components. Monetary values such as income and lost income can be assessed with current
values. However to place a value on environmental benefits and costs is more difficult. Harris et al
(2006) describes four categories of values they are direct use value which can use market price
valuation. Indirect use value is the category used to describe how the project can benefit the
environment such as carbon sequestration. Option value takes into account the benefits lost due to
irreversibility

of bullying and harassment in the workplace. Use the risk analysis template attached.
74. Case Study Pinto
1. What moral issues does the Pinto case raise?
I think Pinto case raised some serious issue of abusing human rights and not behaving ethically in
the world of business. Any business/service should never ever put a value on human life and not
take consideration of a known deadly danger. Ford had an option as well as the solution to design
the car in a way that prevented cars from exploding; however they refused to implement it. They
thought that it was cost effective not to fix dangerous condition than to spend the money to save
people in spite of the fact that the only added cost was $ 11 per vehicle.
2. Suppose Ford officials were asked to justify their decision. What moral principles do you think
they would invoke? Assess Ford's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is there anything unsatisfactory about it? Could it have been improved upon in some way?
Cost–benefit analysis is a legitimate tool, by using the lowest cost to obtain the biggest profit out of
it. However, it is unacceptable to sacrifice human life in exchange of paying a lower production
costs. Before they made any decision, they should hold an ethical meeting about the improvement of
fuel tank, if they would change their mind by paying more then people would not have to die. In this
case, I think Cost–benefit analysis should not be use in this case, because it is very unethical and
inhumanity to determine a number of life that have to sacrifice, just because the unwillingness of
Ford to pay more for the adjustments of fuel systems.
When applying cost benefit analysis in this case study, Ford will either improve the fuel tank or
chosen not to go ahead with the fuel tank adjustment, then at least 180 will burn to death, 180 will
be injuries, and 2100 vehicles will be burned. Ford was making a decision based on numbers that
seems to be right, but it is allowing a certain number of people to die or be injured even though they
could have prevented it with paying more for the alteration of fuel tank. This seems to be a disregard
for human life. From a human rights perspective, Ford disregarded the injured individual's rights
and therefore, in making the decision not to make adjustments to the fuel system, acted

Tharuvaikulam, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The economic analysis confirms that the feed cost
(37.47%); seed cost (18.47%) and labour cost (14.24%) dominates with irrespective of other costs
(in terms of percentage respectively) of shrimp culture. The culture started with well–advanced pre–
stocking and post stocking management practices. The calculated benefit cost ratio for the shrimp
culture was found to be 1.231 (Positive). Based on the experience, this paper would discuss on the

Introduction
Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFÉ) standards proposed for vehicles produced between 2017
and 2025 were promulgated through the joint efforts of the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration (NHTSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) utilizing regulatory
powers granted in their charters allowing them to regulate carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles
and other greenhouse gas producing sources. (Nichols, 2012) The essence of the proposal was that
by 2025 vehicle manufactures would be offering for sale cars and light trucks that averaged almost
50mpg. This level of fuel economy would result in a projected reduction in national dependencies
on almost 4 billion barrels of oil and close to 2 billion tons of greenhouse gases namely carbon
dioxide over the life of the new more efficient vehicles. (Nichols, 2012) Cost analysis of the
proposal focused on fuel savings to the consumer and moderate environmental benefits offsetting
the industries technologic costs of meeting the standards at an overwhelming 4:1 ratio netting over
323 billion dollars of consumer savings over the life of the regulated vehicles.
Economic Analysis
The variables in this analysis include the consumers with their demand for vehicles and their
demand elasticity when it comes to both the cost of fuel and the cost of vehicles shaping their
demand, the suppliers and their ability to navigate the legislation to maximize their investor returns,

86. Starbucks Financial Competency Paper
HR professionals and Financial Competency
With the changing roles of HR function in the global economy, HR professionals are required to
master additional competencies that are necessary for creating and sustaining competitive
advantages in their organizations (Ramlall, 2006). For instance, Starbucks requires the HR
professionals in the organization to take part in maximizing the company's productivity. Maximizing
the company's productivity, in this case, includes being competent in the various organizational
activities that have an impact on the company's strategic decisions (Ramlall, 2006). In my opinion,
financial competencies are invaluable for HR professionals at Starbucks. Essentially, financial
competencies entail understanding the organization's value chain regarding how the company makes
and spends its financial resources, how it delivers value to the shareholders and customers of the
firm and how it evaluates its ability to design its competitive strategy (Ramlall, 2006). With
financial competency, the HR professionals will be able to make better and informed decisions on
how to save money for the firm, boost its revenues and ultimately improve its bottom line.
The benefits and Limitations of Conducting a Cost–Benefit Analysis For an HR Initiative In General
According to Biswas & Director (2013), human resource initiatives such as recruitment, selection,
compensation and the administration of workforce takes up the largest component of company's

90. Application Of Property Theories Of The Beacon Hill
II. Application of Property Theories
A. Utilitarianism
The Utilitarian theory of property seeks to maximize the population's utility when a property
decision is made, the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. To apply this theory, one must
define and aggregate a measure of utility comparable for all people in a cost–benefit analysis. A
popular measure of utility, under the welfarist economics utilitarian view, is utilizing the price a
person is willing to pay for a good or service as the value to be aggregated in the cost–benefit
analysis. However, a strict welfarist utilitarian analysis will not work in this instance because
welfarisim is too individualistic and decisions regarding public property and disability access will ...

Price seems to be the best measure for utility as almost anything can be commodified and priced by
members of the population. Furthermore, other economic measures, such as how a decision
increases a person's wealth, will not reach the full population affected by this decision, as some
parties, like tourists, do not have their wealth increased by such a public property decision.
Determining the value that individuals place on the current handicapped ramps and surrounding
sidewalks in Beacon Hill, necessitates looking into the different groups of interested individuals
affected by the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp decision.
Individuals with disabilities that require accessible handicapped ramps pose a problem for
determining the values that these individuals would give the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp and
surrounding sidewalks. Beacon Hill serves many different functions for people. For those persons
with disabilities who live on Beacon Hill, updated handicapped ramps could mean the difference
having access to their homes or having to move. For this group it is easy to determine a value for
this analysis, as the price they are willing to pay to live in the area. Beacon Hill is populated with
various government offices and private businesses, therefore a cost–benefit analysis must factor in

(Reh, 2011)" Cost/benefit analysis is a possible suggestion because the Consultation and Education
Department director can argue that the benefit of the program far outweighs the cost of the program.
The Consultation and Education department draw clients in and a large majority of these clients go
on to participate in the larger, more funding drawing, programs. So if the department is done away
with, client numbers may decrease and other programs may suffer. "Outcomes evaluation is often
described first by looking at its basic components. Outcomes evaluation looks at programs as
systems that have inputs, activities/processes, outputs and outcomes –– this system's view is useful
in examining any program! * Inputs –
These are materials and resources that the program uses in its activities, or processes, to serve
clients, equipment, staff, volunteers, facilities, money, etc. These are often easy to identify and many
of the inputs seem common to many organizations and programs. * Activities –
These are the activities, or processes, that the program undertakes with/to the client in order to meet
the clients' needs, for example, teaching, counseling, sheltering, feeding, clothing, etc. Note that
when identifying the activities in a program, the focus is still pretty much on the organization or
program itself, and still is not so much on actual changes

Subject: Cost–Benefit Analytical Reviews for the New Health Care Insurance Package in Arapahoe
County.
Healthcare is expensive and Americans look for the best healthcare they can possibly get. Since
consumers are always demanding for better insurance covers, employers are trying to provide the
resources that have an effective prices and not raising costs. The Human Resources department in
Arapahoe County has recently developed a new health care insurance guide in order to control the
County's rising cost for health care insurance. This project will be experienced on all County's
departments, including Clerk &Recorder 's Office. In this memo, I provide you with a cost–benefit
analysis of this new project to change the way benefits are provided on an experimental basis. Based
on my analysis, there will be a slight positive return with Benefit–cost Ratio 1.07; however, this new
project would be not smart financial decision to be applied on Clerk &Recorder 's Office.
Lately, a guide program for a new health care insurance package has designed by the Human
Resources department to reduce the rising cost for health care insurance in Arapahoe County. We
have been informed that this program has been designed for employees who presently get their
health insurance through the County. In contrast with the traditional health care insurance package,

Moreover, the number of clients who have received services simply identifies the number of clients
who proceeded through the program. Outcomes identify the changes, impact, or benefits of the
clients both during and after the program. For example, an outcome may be for clients to stop
drinking in an alcohol program. Individuals should be aware that outcomes are different from
outputs, for an example, the amount of clients who pass through a program. (Lewis, Packard &
Lewis, 2006) The changes or outcomes can be conveyed in the following terms. First knowledge,
and skills outcomes are thought of as short–term outcomes. Then behaviors are included, which
weigh up as intermediate–term outcomes. Additionally, values, conditions, and status are changes
and outcomes, which reflect long–term outcomes. Furthermore, the number and percent of
participants the department wants to accomplish the outcome is the outcome target. For example,
1,500 teens (10% of teens) quit drinking over the next year is an outcome goal. (McNamara, n.d.)
Outcome indicators are observable and measurable milestones one achieves toward his or her
outcome target. What the individual sees, reads, and hears would specify whether he or she is
making progress toward his or her target outcome. For instance, outcome indicators for the percent

two of the most vital decisions that corporations have to take. Cost analysis is one of the factors that
should be taken into consideration while evaluating financial and investment decisions. This paper
reviews the concept of cost analysis, how it is used in decision making, and how firms usually
involve cost analysis in evaluating different projects. Furthermore, the paper discusses some of the
main concepts that are derived from cost analysis such as cost allocation, cost–effectiveness

analysis will be discussed. Moreover, the concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These three methods are usually used simultaneously in order for corporations to evaluate different
decisions or projects. Some of these methods might seem simple and easy to use; however, they
should never be ignored or taken slightly as they can be of great benefit in determining the right
decisions. Cost Allocation: Cost allocation is the simplest among the three concepts that were
mentioned earlier. Sewell and Marczak stated that cost allocation refers to "setting up budgeting and
accounting systems in a way that allows program managers to determine a unit cost or cost per unit
of service." Furthermore, Sewell and Marczak illustrated that in many corporations, cost allocation
is used to provide "some of the basic information needed to conduct more ambitious cost analyses
such as cost–benefit analysis or cost–effectiveness analysis." Therefore, it can be concluded that cost
allocation is a prerequisite to both cost–benefit analysis and cost–effectiveness analysis. Example:
The following table shows the monthly cost allocation for 3 different projects It is important to note
that firms usually allocate their costs based on previous experience and estimation. However, firms
should expect costs to change, which can be due to financial crises, inflation, or other factors, and

A Case Study on the California High Speed Rail System (CAHSR) – Is It Feasible? By Hardeep

California High Speed Rail Authority (CA HSRA), connecting the major metropolitan areas of
California. The project finalized in mid 2000, is estimated to be one of the most expensive of its
kind. It is in the lines of the high speed rail systems existing in France, Japan and China. The cost of
the total project, which will cover around 800 miles, is estimated to be around $45 billion as of
2008. At this time of economic instability and no proper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The capital and operating & maintenance costs are much easily determined using the data available
from the data from CA HSRA. Sources of benefits: 1. Intercity passenger revenue; 2. Benefits to
both intercity and urban high–speed train passengers (net of fares paid); 3. Reduction of airside
delay for air passengers; 4. Reduction in aircraft operating costs; 5. Reduction of highway delay for
both intercity and urban auto trips; and 6. Reduction of accident and air pollution costs from
intercity and urban auto trips. This analysis is done assuming the benefits accrued in the year 2050.
The costs are evaluated from the year 2011 – the proposed time of starting the project, while the
benefits are calculated from the year 2020 – the expected time of launching the project. The
estimated streams of benefits and costs occurring each year between 2011 and 2050 were discounted
to their present value and summarized to calculate the benefit cost ratio. The discount rate is a
means of calculating a value now of benefits that occur in the future. The discount rate recognizes
the time value of money. A four percent real discount rate is used in the calculations. However, the
high–speed train project would be economically feasible even under the higher discount rates used
by some public agencies and economists. The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is an evaluation

119. Evaluation Of An Effective Training Program
Abstract
Arguably, one of the most vital elements in the design of an effective training program is a thorough
analysis of the training needs of an organization. With the amount of financial resources required to
invest in a high quality training program, it is imperative that organizations do their due diligence in
revealing the learning needs of their staff. A needs analysis can also differentiate between issues
where training is an answer, and those challenges in which training is not a solution. All of these
factors are addressed in a proper training needs analysis and all of them aid in the development of a
highly effective and customized learning program.
By identifying exactly what the outcome of training is expected to be and ... Show more content on

They feel they need a quick response and that training is a fast progress toward a fix. It seems clear
cut to those in these positions: a new system is necessary and that staff need to know how to
efficiently utilize this new system, therefore training is needed. Lack of understanding of the various
elements that affect the effectiveness of training is common and can be discovered through the
process of needs analysis. Factors like what is the employees' attitude toward new processes and
procedures? Will employees best absorb training in one long session or through phases of training?
What exactly the gap between current skill level and desired skill level? What delivery mode would
be most effective be it classroom or electronic module delivery? (Brown, 2010). An appropriate and
thorough training needs analysis will uncover answers to all of these questions and allow a training
designer the ability to customize and target training and will allow the trainer a firm understanding
of the population they are training (Martin, 2009).
On occasion the training need is not well defined. For instance, a vague topic such as
"communication skills" can require an analyst to research below the surface of the problem to
determine the appropriate training needed. Sometimes, a good analysis can reveal that the
communication issues do not lie with the staff team but with the management team even though it
was the management team who felt training in

dimension of human experience that is variously conveyed as a sense of tender affection, an intense
attraction, the foundation of intimacy and good interpersonal chemistry, willing self–sacrifice on
behalf of another, and as an ineffable sense of affinity or connection to nature, other living beings, or
even that which is unseen. According to Sri Aurobindo : "There is usually a hope of return, of

127. The Role Of Classical Rational Models Of Decision Making
There are things in life many people will never understand. Sometimes, that is how things are
suppose to be because some things just aren't explainable. In the documentary, How to Die in
Oregon, I've learned that when it comes to making conclusions regarding someone else, judging
them is not a plausible act. There are, however, decision making processes that can possibly let us
understand how an individual comes to difficult decisions. The use of classical rational models of
decision making as well as the cost benefit analysis can help determine such settlements. The
documentary How to Die in Oregon is centered around people making difficult decisions. These
decisions are ones that many people do not understand. On one side, the family may look at the
decision of the terminally ill individual as selfish. In the video, there were families that came to
terms with their loved ones decision. Then, there were outsiders who thought the idea was purely
ludicrous and refused to understand the whole concept. The "death with dignity" law grants
terminally ill people the right to not have to go through excruciating pain for excess amounts of
time. Some people may never understand the amount of pain these individuals go through, which is
why they are a bit ignorant to the law in general. They look at it as flat–out suicide which goes
against their beliefs. Moreover, looking at the classical rational model of decision making could
further explain how individuals make their choice.

135. Cost Of A Mobile App
The first steps of the cost–benefit analysis (Figure 3) began with research about the scalability of our
app, meaning researching just how much capital it would cost to create and maintain an app of this
stature. We derived our estimations based on an article entitled "Cost to Build a Mobile App: A
Survey" from Clutch.co, a leading software and professional service firm that offers research–based
reviews and analysis for companies to make professional decisions.
The first question needing to be answered was just how much an app like this would cost to develop,
a cost that must take into account the size, complexity, and infrastructure. Based on Clutch's data
results, we estimated that an app of this stature would cost about $30,000 to develop, this number
being drawn from the median–low app development extreme with an average of 300 hours being
spent in the 12–week development period at an estimated $100 an hour ("Cost to Build a Mobile
App: A Survey"– full breakdown of survey components table). Post the 12–week development
period is when the maintenance costs begin, a number that that was estimated based on the average
salary of an application developer working five hours per week on a weekly basis at $35.00 an hour
("Application Developer Salary"–indeed.com).
This salary–based estimate, however, is also representative of a perhaps even more comprehensible
maintenance estimation based on a formula of maintenance costs equally about 30% of development
costs. This 30%

much for IP that even an increase in demand for these products does not outweigh the cost.

Income has been declining for International Paper Company in recent years. According to IP's 10k,
their income declined from 2,476 million to (1,332) million to (124) million from 2013 to 2014 to
2015 respectively. The decline in profit is mostly due to the decline in sales in recent years. Sales
during the most recent quarter saw a (1.97) growth. Trailing twelve month growth compared to last
year saw (7.54) growth. IP's 4 year growth rate is at a low of (5.38) ("Financial Highlights"). While
IP has negative growth, their growth is significantly less than the negative growth than industry,
sector, and S&P 500 (International Paper "Financial Highlights"). Since the entire industry of paper
mills is facing a steep decline in growth, it is expected that IP's sales would also decline. The market
for paper products in changing, leading to a decline in sales across the board. Paper imports are
increasing as well as prices of raw materials and they are projected to continue increasing according
to IBISWorld's projections. Although IP appears to be doing a better job than most of their industry
at keeping sales from falling too dramatically due to these factors, their sales and income are still
affected negatively by these changes.

Cost–benefit ratio. Similar to the results found in the Bewell24 study, all participants felt they would
"recommend the app". One reason as to why participants felt the CBT–I Coach was so effective was
the provided feedback that was given in regards to their behaviors related to sleep and bedtime
(Koffel, et al., 2016). This gave participants insight into their real behaviors regarding sleep (Koffel,
et al., 2016). Overall, the cost–benefit ratio was high; meaning the benefits of the app outweighed
any affiliated cost. Implications One implication of this research is that it has the potential to change
treatment towards sleep disorders and insomnia for both patients and doctors/therapist. "Demand for

Contributing to "motor vehicle crashes, industrial disasters, and medical and occupational errors" an
individual's sleep patterns do not only affect them, but as well as the people around them (Centers
for Disease Control, 2015). The use of apps such as the BeWell24 or the CBT–I Coach, can
potentially result in lower instances of these kinds of accidents that are related to sleep disorders and
insomnia. By operationally conditioning individuals who suffer from sleep disorders and/or
insomnia to only affiliate the bedroom and bed with sleep, their ability to fall asleep will likely
increase (Buman, et al., 2016; Koffel, et al., 2016). This has been successful when stimulus control
and positive reinforcement are used as a tool to shape one's thoughts and beliefs regarding sleep and
bedtime (Buman, et al., 2016; Koffel, et al., 2016). Concluding that phone apps such as BeWell24
and the CBT–I Coach are effective treatments in modifying an individual's beliefs and thought
processes regarding sleep and bedtime, ultimately changing their sleep habits for the

COST‐BENEFIT ANALYSIS OF AN RFID ASSET TRACKING SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
This paper outlines the cost‐benefit analysis of using Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) technology in an asset‐tracking application. To facilitate the analysis, RFID
will be compared against the incumbent technology, bar‐coding. An experiment comparing these
two technologies was conducted, and the findings from this experiment are further analysed.

With a time saving of 90.82%, RFID proves its time and cost savings while performing asset
inventories.
BUSINESS ANALYSIS
In order to clarify what savings RFID can provide for an organisation currently utilizing outdated,
inefficient logistics technologies, these time savings should be used, along with some general
assumptions, to project indicative cost savings. To facilitate analysis of the labour cost savings
associated to implementing RFID processes to an asset tracking context, the life cycle of a typical
asset is considered. The different types of assets and their individual characteristics are ignored to
simplify the analysis. In order for this document to provide useful figures for a wider range of
customers, a basic logistics department with varying asset levels and traffic will be analysed. Some
general assumptions are listed: Average warehouse worker works a 38 hour week and earns a
$60,000AU salary. Number of assets to be tracked: o 10,000 o 20,000 o 50,000 o 100,000 Each
tagged asset follows an assumed asset life cycle. Numbers of reads associated to each task: o Asset

additive effects with selection. All of this that has just been listed are gaps that will be addressed in
this study. The way they'll be addressed will be through methodological control which will be done
in the methods section of this study. This research that is being done in this study would improve
and expand existing research that has already been done. In doing this, this study would be focusing
on both dependent variables and their relationships with the risk factors and treatments. Previous
studies have either address one of the dependent variables or risk factors but not all of them. Based
on the model for this study that is going to be done, criminal behavior isn't determined by capital
punishment.. This would be done to show that the
