Play Offers Children Rich Learning Environments
Play is the most common activity in childhood. Trough play children can learn, create, and, socialize
at the same time it helps children to increase their knowledge. That is why Crowther states, "In
summary, play offers children rich learning experiences that enhance all levels of development"
(Crowther, 2016, p. 12). In this particular observation, Clara and Maria agreed to play the roles of
mother and daughter when they started to play. For that reason, I consider that the stage which is the
most appropriate to that style of activity is cooperative play. In her book, "Creating Effective
Learning Environments, Crowther states", Crowther claims "They planned what they needed and
decided on the roles to play" (Crowther, 2016, p. 5). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the second case, Jairo was playing by himself. He repeated several times the alphabet using Mr.
Potato's mouth to express his cognitive advancement. It seems to me that the appropriate stage of
cognitive play that he used is functional play. Crowther claims that "This type of play is also
referred to as repetitive play or practice play" (Crowther, 2016, p. 6). It was obvious when Jairo
repeated the alphabet that he was very capable of doing it. Section 4
Environment and Materials In general, people believe that the atmosphere has a big role in the
learning environment. It is not an exception in the preschool room of my field placement centre. The
children are encouraged to play because the environment is adequate and has maximized learning
spaces, indoor space and storage. First, in terms of space maximization there is not too much room
to have many learning centres. According to Crowther, "One way to maximize space is by placing
centres that are linked closer together so that the space and many of the materials can be shared
effectively" (Crowther, 2016, p. 38). It is one of the most amazing things that they do in this
preschool room. The children can play with sand or water in the sensory centre. The inconvenience
is that children cannot play with sand and water at the same time. However, this does not really
matter. The ECE plans activities

The Characteristics Of Community Psychology
Richard Henry
PSY 324E
October 14, 2017
A Collective Mind
Before we can discuss what community psychology is, we must understand what a community is.
We often view a community as a collective or randomized people, some happen to work close by,
some happen to like the housing market and decided to raise a family, and some may have been in
the same town for their whole lives, feeling no interest to look beyond. What is represented here, is
the differences within the individuals. No two people have the same exact story, the same
upbringing, the same experience. Often times, your neighbor may be nothing like you, yet you may
have similarities. The similarities may come from the way you both think politically, to the teams
you root for. (you notice he too, has a 12th man sticker plastered on his back windshield)
Community psychology is the collection of individuals, their moralities, their viewpoints on the
world and the basis in which you collectively live. For the example of different communities, I'll
take Portland, Oregon, my new place of residence, versus where I am originally from, Ocean City,
New Jersey. Portland is recognized as one of the more inclusive places in the world, a collection of
people who "look out for each other", wanting everyone to feel both welcome and equal. We often
look at a place as being a general population of similar people, where we assume everyone in
Portland just moves here and becomes influenced. But I tend to believe that people live

Gaye What's Going On Analysis
What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
The message of Marvin Gaye's What's Going On is that the abuse of the government's authorities
will not lead to peace and harmony within the United States. Marvin Gaye sings about his through
his lyrics that show the destruction inflicted upon normal families. He sings; "Mother, mother/
There's too many of you crying/ Brother, brother, brother/ There's far too many f you dying" (1–4)
which show the families that have been affected by things such as poverty, or war, or police
brutality, which was prominent and harmful back in the 1970s. Gaye sings about how "war is not the
answer/For only love can conquer hate" (9–10). He is saying that the violence between people will
not solve the problems they currently face and that to conquer problems they need to be united. It's
clear that Gaye is singing about police authorities when he sings "Picket lines and picket signs/
Don't punish me with brutality" (13–14) and references to the signs used by protesters and workers
on strike. When Gaye sings "Don't punish me with brutality" (14), he is singing about the police
force used against protestors although most of them were not harmful. Marvin Gaye sings about the
violence between civilians and authorities. He sees the change needed and how The main message
of the poem shown throughout the lyrics is that the authority's force against civilians who are
against governmental actions is not useful, nor will it bring harmony within the country. The

Essay about The Change of Bond Girls
The Change of Bond Girls In Adams' article Bond Girls:gender, technology and film she says that
the question, how have Bond girls changed? "Blonder, dumber and thinner" would not be an
uncommon reply. Some of the results of my questionnaire seemed to support this idea. When asking
participants to "use one word [they] associate with Bond girls" a massive 80% said "sex". This
showed me that the general opinion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I took notes on four main themes regarding; Bond's relationship and treatment of the women, the
roles of the women in the film (how key they were to the plot), and the social depiction and life of
their character in the film and their sexual relationship with Bond.
Through textual analysis I discovered that in three of the main themes excluding the latter there had
been significant development. Comparing two of the themes:Bond relationship and treatment of the
women and their importance to the plot in films throughout the franchise, I found that in earlier
Bond films throughout the Sean Connery era (Dr No. to Never say never again) and the beginning of
the Roger Moore era up to The man with a golden gun, generally showed Bond girls in a more
subordinate role to Bond. In Goldfinger Bond slaps a girl on the bottom and tells her "man talk!"
when his fellow agent arrives prompting her to leave, exhibiting her unimportance. Bond also tricks
solitaire into having sex with him by fooling her with trick cards in Live and let die. He also handles
women roughly, slapping them around for information or twisting their arms around their back (Dr
No.). In films such as The man with the golden gun girls such as Goodnight, is portrayed as being a
hindrance to Bond and

Comparing The Opening Scene In Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Tomorrow Never Dies
'Raiders of the Lost Ark' and 'Tomorrow Never Dies' are both action films with a similar theme.
Both films are about good fighting evil. The heroes have many similarities and differences. 'Raiders
of the Lost Ark' is targeted at any age, its certificate PG. 'Tomorrow Never Dies' is targeted at twelve
years onwards and is a certificate 12. Both films may appeal more to teenage males who may look
up to Indiana Jones and James Bond because they are good looking men who have exciting, action
filled jobs and they want to be like them. Both films are blockbusters so they have big budgets.

concentrates on Jones's feet, and follows him through the tomb making the viewer feel involved.
They are soon aware that they have tarantulas attached to their backs, a high–pitched music starts to

to get over it. They are standing about ten feet from the Idol, and Jones has to control his excited
companion. Indiana goes forward alone, he was calm about the situation, and knew all the traps. The
music starts to crescendo building up tension during the scene. Jones swapped the Idol for a bag of
sand. This shows us he was prepared. The music stopped, making us feel suspense. The rocks start
crumbling down, the viewers feel urgency. They try to escape, his companion jumps over the drop

Iqp Reflection
Course History International and Global Studies INTL1100 – This is one of the best classes to take
to prepare for the IQP, which is why I took it. I have Professor Hansen, and he was great to have
because he is very knowledgeable in the IQP processes. I learned about different cultures,
governments, finances, and most importantly, how to learn a society, and make beneficial changes to
it. This skill was learned through the global competency project. In this project, I participated in
group work, analyzed analytical data about counties poverty, heath issues, and education, and
presented our findings on a poster. This class also required me to attend the global fair as a
freshman. I was a little scared going, because I was a little freshman, wandering around not knowing
what to do. But it was great practice for my sophomore year, where I engaged in conversation with
past participants at the IQP locations. International Studies very relevant to and off–campus IQP
because it taught me that countries are very different, and I need to be ready to adapt to a new
lifestyle, but most importantly, have fun doing it. Intermediate Mechanics PH2201 – Intermediate
Mechanics has been the most challenging class I have taken at WPI. This prompted lots of
teamwork. As a team, we read the textbook, learned how to do the problems, spent many nights
working late, and ended up succeeding in the class. I learned more about teamwork than I thought
from this class. It is important to work together

Aint Mountain High Enough Analysis
The song that I have chosen to do an analysis on is ''Aint Mountain High Enough'' by Marvin Gaye
& Tammi Terrell. This song was originally debuted in 1966 and it was very popular at the time. The
song has a very upbeat rhythm. It is in the soul, rhythm and blues and pop genre. The song is very
soulful. The producer of the song was Tamla Motown label and this song was considered to be one
of the labels best singles. The song was written by Nickolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson. It did very
well in in United States. The song became a hit again when it was recorder by Diana Ross in
1970.There has since been many artists who have done a cover for this song as it is a very popular
song. The song landed on the Billboard Hot 100 and it was nominated for a Grammy award. I

It 's A Calm Place Essay
It's a calm place. Few people live here. It is the place where someone feels free, relaxed and comfy.
In the night the stars appear. Millions of brilliant stars can be seen in the blacky sky. The most
amazing thing you can do is to sit and watch these twinkling jewels. You can also watch the moon in
its different shapes. To describe in words what your eyes can see is certainly a challenge. In the
morning you feel amazed at the colorful flowers, flying birds and butterflies, green trees and the
shiny sun. This place is called "paradise". In "paradise" you can walk, swim, play and do so many
other things. By going there you can see and meet lovely birds, kids, married couples and "given up"
people. "Paradise" is the only hope for them. The place is popular with its writers, engineers,
pioneers and artists. It is heaven on earth. It has so many wonderful sites.
A young beautiful widow lives in this "paradise" with her son. She is the most beautiful lady in that
place. Her name is Rose and she is stunning like a rose. She is in her 30's. Her hair is midnight–
black and it flows over her shoulders. She has rapture–blue eyes, slender eyebrows, a dainty nose,
honey sweet lips, sea–nymph ears and halo–white teeth. She is wasp–waisted. Her fingernails are
varnished. She has a soothing voice. She is a mother for one child. Her husband, Johnny is dead
from a car accident. Rose and her son live in a very small house. When Johnny was still alive they
used to live in a palace with

Positive Traits Of The Filipino
Filipino Traits

Keywords: Traits, Hospitability, Bayanihan, Faithfulness, Politeness, Thriftiness, Family–Oriented,
Crab mentality, Mañana habit, Tardiness, Ningas Kugon, Bahala na, Gossiping
Traits is a distinguishing quality or characteristics, typically one belonging to a person. It is a
person's behavior that is assumed to serve as an explanation of his/her enduring personal
characteristics.
Filipinos have positive traits that mark us one of the most commendable people on earth. The
following good habits make the Filipinos great people and the Philippines an abundant country.
Hospitability is one of the popular traits of Filipinos. We are usually friendly and welcoming to our
guests. This Filipino trait makes the Philippines one of the most favorite destinations by tourists who
wants to enjoy the beauty of our nature and the friendliness of our people. All peoples the world

Filipinos are courteous people. Young Filipinos will always have the term "po" and "opo" to give
respect to someone that is older or who is in a higher position than them. We also make "mano po"
or having their hand on your forehead gesture as a sign of respect to our elders. Moreover, Filipinos
always address their customers with "Ma'am" or "Sir" to show decency on serving them. A simple
gesture of letting an old one take your seat in a public transport is simple trait of a Filipino.
Thriftiness is one of the trait of a Filipino. There may be Filipinos who are living beyond their
means. But on the brighter side, there are also many Filipinos who are economical. We shop
sensibly to save our money for important uses in the future. We are fond going to "tiangges" and
"sales" and looking for buy 1 take 1 goods. We are conscious on the price tags, discounts and quality

Analysis of the Opening Sequences of Three James Bond Films
Analysis of the Opening Sequences of Three James Bond Films
Analyse the opening sequences of three James Bond films and explain why they are constructed in
this way.
James Bond has been running for forty years and has released twenty movies. My essay will analyse
the following three James Bond movies:
· Dr No (Starring Sean Connery, first Bond movie made)
· A view to kill (Roger Moore)
· Golden Eye (Pierce Brosnan)
For each of these movies I will analyse the opening scenes and explain why they are constructed in
the manner that they are.

He while gambling receives an urgent phone call (the conversation is not heard, this adds to the
movies suspense). The phone call as well as the camera shots emphasise his importance in the film.
The clothes worn by James Bond (a tuxedo) are very glamorous and sophisticated. They also
emphasise that he is important.
A view to kill, the second James Bond movie to be analysed in this essay, has the same gun shot
scene at the start, but the action in the movie is much better. This is probably due to the date of
release (1985). Dr No was released in 1962. The difference is probably due to more advanced
technology being available.
A view to Kill focuses more on girls and action. The camera angles used in this movie also make the
movie more exciting.
The first scene in this film shows James Bond (Roger Moore) skiing in the Arctic looking for a
microchip. He is dressed in white this may be a disguise to camouflage him (the snow he is skiing
on is white) from the villains who are dressed in green. The shots in this screen are close up shots
and extreme long shots. The extreme long shots emphasis the depth of the scene and also hide the
stunt mans face from the audience. The close–up shots are used to show discoveries made by James
Bond i.e. the micro chip.
The second scene in the opening

Marvin Gaye's Song Ain T No Mountain High Enough
There are so many influential songs that I can relate to. Marvin Gaye, "Ain't No Mountain High

times, in rigorous courses throughout high school and Nova Southeastern University I sang out this
song, pushing myself forward realizing the mountain in front of me is actually attainable. A person
who is staunch and faithful can conquer any "mountain" and their desired endeavors. Picking an
influential movie is also quite arduous. However, I can relate to West Side Story. My family is from

On the top of my list of objects to bring the Bible would be number one. Being able to read the
Bible daily would give me strength, wisdom and guidance. I normally attend Sunday church
services and without attending a service the Bible would inspire me to keep the faith on a deserted
island. There are so many verses in the Old and New Testament that would embolden and excite me.
Here is a prime example in the Book of Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be
dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you" Until I would be rescued I would
also need a knife. This weapon would allow me to shield myself and also be used as a means of
gathering food. While a gun would soon run out of ammunition, a knife can be recycled countless
times for protection and for hunting or fishing. Over the last few years I have hiked the Appalachian
Trail and have become a knowledgeable camper and hunter. These life occurrences certainly would
contribute to a prolonged stay on a deserted island. Lastly, I would want a first aid– medicine kit.
Although we take for granted our health it is imperative to have a kit with band–aids, bug–spray,
Neosporin and other simple medications. Cuts, allergies and infections will occur and a simple first–
aid kit would be particularly significant, because sometimes–insignificant lacerations can quickly

The Day Of The Group Members
During the course of the semester our group members had very busy schedules which made meeting
challenging. We primarily connected through text messages, email, and short meetings after class.
Albeit meeting was difficult, our communication throughout the semester worked out well. To
accomplish our tasks each member of our group would take a section of the paper and contribute
their ideas. Having more meetings in person would have given us a better advantage on the tasks,
but due to member's schedules, we had to make do with the time we had. Our group could have
improved on our event to hand out pamphlets by getting more volunteers to assist in passing them
out, as well as go for a longer period of time. Again with class schedules and work, the entire group
was not able to participate. We could have also benefited by adding something to get people's
attention, possibly posters and signs. The day of our group's event we all wore purple to represent
Lupus while passing out information, but doing something unusual along with that, may have
prompted more questions and interest in the message we were trying to pass. Although you can look
back and see what we could have improved on, I think that we still were able to meet our persuasive
goal by making our classmates aware of Lupus and we were able to reach a good number of students
across campus as well. Though this was not on the scale we had hoped for it still was a step in the
right direction in educating more on Lupus. To

Essay on Understanding the Underground Dancer
Understanding the Underground Dancer
If you have seen him––in clubs, in parties, and even in the street––you will surely remember him.
The Underground Dancer is a figure of the modern world that cannot be dismissed. Anthropologists
explain dance as the expression of sexual desires, but the Underground Dancer is different, and
therefore, often misunderstood. It is hard to pinpoint what he is, and what he looks like, all I can
provide is shots in the dark, a desperate attempt to shed light to this misunderstood personae. The
underground dancer is a spiritual beggar, a metaphorical call for freedom, a revelrying Dionysus, an
artist and a work of art––he matters not merely because he is different, but because he gives us new

It is his favorite song and all the dreams are flushed away, his spiteful stare returning to this oh, so
dramatically cruel, vastly uncaring world. He is not a spiteful man; he is merely sick and tired of
routine, of the day–in–day–out, of the same ol', same ol', of everyday existence. Like an ill man he
may swear inside him, and like Dostoevsky's Underground Man he will let out a high–pitched cry
that speaks: "Enough! This world is not enough!" He is still motionless for although he wants to
dance, his mind is not at ease––what is the use of dancing anyway, when all the troubles of the
world burden his shoulders (Kaufmann 71, 72)? He remains inert, perhaps slightly trembling, a
tingling anticipation of an unknown surge tickling his soul. His inaction drives him insane because if
he refuses to dance without a reason, he will remain inert but if, on the other hand, dances without a
reason, his lack of determination will manifest itself as self–consciousness and fall pray to the eyes
of his audience. But who ever heard of rationality as prerequisite for action? The whole of History is
littered with examples of irrational choices, where man acts without consideration for reason or
advantage. The Underground Dancer realizes this, and does not wish for himself a good, virtuous or
advantageous choice but simply to satisfy his own caprice, in a sense, feed his own desire for the
single most "advantageous advantage": independent choice (72). He must dance,

Essay about A Comparison of Two James Bond Posters
A Comparison of Two James Bond Posters
'Dr No' in 1962 was the first James Bond film released and 'The World Is Not Enough' is one of the
most recent Bond films to have been released in 1999. The two film posters are distinctively
different, which would be expected as the films were released decades apart from eachother.
The first poster for 'Dr No' shows that James Bond is a new, never seen before film as the logo '007'
is printed on the poster more than once in bold lettering, and the name 'James Bond' is also printed,
whereas in the poster for 'the World Is Not Enough' the '007' logo is only used once in small lettering
and 'James Bond' is not used at all, because by this time the ... Show more content on

This also may have something to do with the fact that in the 90's, the first female head of MI5 was
introduced into the films.
The genre of the film is far more evident in the poster for 'The World Is Not Enough'. The images
used connote an action film that has many different narratives. The poster is lively and eye–catching
and is full of bright, vivid images. The poster fits in very well with the title of the film, as it looks
like James Bond is going to embark on some international mission, the image of some of the
continents in flames shows this. There are also several images circling around the main characters in
the film, which look futuristic and scientific and feature explosions and car chases. Comparing the
two posters also shows how technology and science has progressed through the decades and this is
very apparent in the 1999 film poster, which looks far more advanced, as far as gadgets and
weapons go.
The 'Dr No' poster does not specify the genre so well. It could be for several different genres. It
indicates that it could possibly be a spy or mystery film, which is partly true of the James Bond
movies.
James Bond is shown in the 'Dr No' film poster as a silhouette, it suggests that he could be a very

The Lighthouse After School Program
Introduction The nonprofit organization that I chose to conduct research on is called the Lighthouse.
The Lighthouse is an after school program for middle and high school students. I decided to
research this organization because I have had a few friends volunteer there and I have heard nothing
but positive comments about it. I really wanted find out more about the Lighthouse because from the
little that I already knew about it, I felt that it provided a safe harbor for our youth in Lincoln and I
think that type of organization is a great asset to the community. In this research paper, I will discuss
the history of Lighthouse, the mission and values of the organization, programs and enrichment that
is provided, projects that have been beneficial to the community, financials, and last but not least, I
will talk about the staff and team at Lighthouse.
History The Lighthouse After–School Program was created in the year 1990 by Peter and Maureen
Allman and Jim Perry according to the Lighthouse website (Lighthouse, 2015). Pete Allman visited
a similar organization called The Covenant House while he was in New York City and when he
came back to Lincoln he was told by many that the community and city of Lincoln, Nebraska
needed a safe place where youth could go and hangout. With the funding from Woods Charitable
Fund, the Lighthouse was able to be set up in the Atwood House on 17th and G. After a year at the
house, the Lighthouse was moved to a different location across

Essay on James Bond Movies
James Bond Movies
I think that the writers intensions when he created James Bond was that he wanted him to be a man
who could get out of any situation and is irresistible to women, he also wanted him to be a secret
agent who has all these interesting gadgets.
The first film that I will be reviewing is Goldeneye. Goldeneye was released in 1995. The storyline
for Goldeneye is that the Russian mafia has a space based weapons system called goldeneye. Its up
to James Bond to save London from this, on his way he runs into characters such as a beautiful
computer programmer (Izabella scorupco), a former partner (Sean Bean), a wise cracking CIA agent
(Joe Don Baker), an ex KGB officer (Robbie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
James bond hits women in Goldeneye which a lot of women would find offending. An example of
when he hits a woman is when he is talking to Xenia and knocks her out by a chop to her neck and
puts humor into it by saying "good night".
The song Goldeneye by Tina Turner is very effective in the film because it blends in with everything
that is happening in that section of the film. The original James Bond theme is mostly played in the
action parts of the movie and at the start of the movie. The James Bond soundtrack theme is played
in all of his movies, and when you hear that soundtrack you would associate it with James Bond.
When many people that hear that soundtrack being played somewhere they would immediately link
it with James Bond because it is something that resembles him. When there is a romantic scene in
Goldeneye they would play calm and soothing music, and when there is a fight they would play
music that is loud and fast and will get you hyped up.
The second James Bond film that I will be reviewing is Goldfinger. Goldfinger was the third James
Bond film and was created in 1964. In Goldfinger the main character played by Gert Frobe, isn't the
most vicious villain to stand against 007 but he is intelligent and is obsessed with gold. Frobe is
good for the role of Goldfinger because he shows the different personalities that he has– cruelty,

Persuasive Discourse Reflection
During my time at DePauw I've been to all four Day of Dialogue sessions and have seen it evolve
from a response to brother Jed's protest to an organized annual event that aims to bring students,
faculty, and staff together to discuss campus climate and personal experiences at DePauw. However,
while this event has made progress in choosing speakers, facilitating productive conversations, and
providing topical breakout sessions, many students still feel frustrated due to unproductive
conversations that left out many groups that experience bias on campus. Most importantly, many
students feel that these days do little to address these issues on campus, that they don't have a chance
to be heard, and that one day of dialogue is not enough to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

What particularly resonated with me about Leslie Williams' speech was the discussion about
uncomfortable conversations about privilege and recognizing our own biases. By describing her
personal experiences, Leslie Williams emphasized that students of color, LGBTQIA+ students,
disabled students, and others often feel uncomfortable and isolated because of their identities.
Although many students feel uncomfortable speaking about these topics, admitting that we are
privileged, and recognizing that we grow up with different biases, other students feel this discomfort
every day and aren't able to escape it after Day of Dialogue ends. Although I often feel
uncomfortable admitting my own privilege, I think it is important to acknowledge that some of us
have the privilege to avoid these awkward conversations when they make us uncomfortable while
other students have to live with this discomfort every day. Avoiding these conversations not only
limits our capacity for change, but also our own understanding of how our identities are shaped by
society. Though uncomfortable, these are necessary conversations that push us to reflect on our own
experiences, admit our own biases, and have effective conversations in order to create more equality
on campus. These same themes of acknowledging privilege and the importance of stories were
emphasized during the breakout session with Peggy McIntosh: From

Depression : Depression In 'Tears Of A Tiger'
Depression
Tears of a tiger is a novel about a boy named Andy. Andy had a really terrible drinking and driving
accident with his friends. One of his friends, Robbie, died and Andy feels completely guilty for his
death. Throughout the book he showed signs of depression and his problems kept progressing
socially, emotionally, and performance–wise. Depression, a frighteningly common disorder.
"Depression has symptoms such as talk of death, rapid mood swings, expression of guilt, troubles of
finishing projects, too little sleep and complaints of headaches, and trouble keeping friends" ( Teen
Health Wellness p. 4–5). These symptoms were all present in the novel to the main character. For
example, after the car crash that Andy's best friend Robbie died in, his talk with the psychiatrist was
" ( Andy) Well if you say so. But I really am okay now. I have headaches sometimes, and I can't
sleep some nights, but I feel a whole lot better than I did right after the accident. How did you feel
then? (Psychiatrist) Like a piece of crap. (Andy) Why? (Psychiatrist) 'Cause it was my fault that Rob
died. I was drinkin'. I was drivin' (Andy)" (Draper p.43) This quote just presented expression of
guilt, too little sleep and complaints of headaches. Another example is when Andy and Keisha
(Andy's girlfriend) started to slowly depart from each other when Andy had these rapid mood
swings on Keisha and got so unacceptable for Keisha that she ended their relationship. That

Women In James Bond Films
Women are deemed as a "minority" yet make up 51% of the world population and in 2014 made up
only 12% of protagonists in films. And that is just on–screen, the percentage decreases as you go
farther and farther into behind–the–scenes positions such as directors, cinematographers, and
writers. Add race and ethnicity and those characters' percentages decline even more (Lauzen, 2015.)
Women in film and television are often portrayed with emphasis based on their body type and in
advertisement are largely objectified. The large objectification and misrepresentation of women in
the media has led to an offset psychological view of women from growing up to adulthood. The
constant portrayal of women as an assistant or helper in prominent is the popular James Bond films.
The main goal for "bond girls" as they are called is to "distract, tempt, or assist," Bond in whatever
his mission may be. It is important to note that there had been Bond ... Show more content on

After having carefully read the Metric Division Case, and having well in mind the Open Systems

Throughout the text, it seems pretty clear that the division and the staff encounter some problems

If we carefully analyse the Metric Division issues, we can clearly identify that the major issues are

A larger issue raised during the interviews is the problem encountered during meetings. A lot of staff
members were complaining that meetings were often ineffective in the way they were organized.
Regarding that matters, staff members highlight the fact that they rarely solve any issues during
meetings "Meetings seem to be a waste of time in terms of moving the business ahead". It appears to
be mainly due to the lack of organization and agenda during meetings. Conversation often last for
ever without specifically speaking about the problems per say.
We said that Task Structure was equivalent to the way the group's work is designed. Meetings are
supposed to help the group's work to be designed. The problem really is that there is no structure
enabling the group's work to be designed. Staff meetings are apparently not structured enough. No
systematic approach is clearly set which adds another hindrance to the already too large staff
member's amount. As no structure is really present when conducting meetings, priorities of issues
are often blurry and no solutions clearly emerge.
Minor and minor issues are addressed with almost the same importance; everybody is allowed to
talk which inevitably leads to a total confusion and therefore a clear lack of effectiveness.
A reduce amount of people within staffs, a better organized and structured meeting should help the
division to better solve its current

A High School Diploma Is No Longer Enough To Ensure Success
A high school diploma is no longer enough to ensure success in the globalized world we live in.
Low skill jobs made available by a high school education are, as time goes by, more and more likely
to be automated or sent overseas. Even college degrees sometimes fail to secure their holders a solid
career. Technology keeps advancing, and as it pushes forward, many workers look to education to
stay relevant. Thomas Friedman, New York Times journalist and author of "The World Is Flat", says

the resources given by the program or whatever they can find online, including Massive Open
Online Courses–whether it be a much shorter or longer period of time than required for a traditional

takes this new method a step further, by making it more broadly accessible to any student with a
reliable internet connection, as well as reducing another common barrier to higher education: the

Thread And Balance By Timothy Tapestry
Thread and Balance
In a small town many years ago, the Tapestry family walked to work enjoying the simple pleasures
that the morning offered. Timothy Tapestry was a tall man with blond hair and a subdued face. He
had lived in this town his whole life, and just like any other morning, he gazed happily at the hills in
the distance. Ever since he was young, Timothy had marveled at how the sun lit up those hills in the
morning, and since he was a creature of habit, he did the same today.
Past his thoughts, and in a world of her own, Adeline Tapestry walked with her husband to work.

"With these deadlines in mind," the king began. "We bid you farewell." He then raised his hand to

Timothy and Adeline as the king and queen left. For although the Tapestrys were well known for

Once the crowd had finally dispersed, the Tapestrys let themselves into their shop. It was a homey

they began to pull out different fabrics, and patterns trying to decide what would best suit King

Review of Film The World is Not Enough
The greatest spy the world has ever known returns for yet another adventure. Once again the British
secret service has to save the world from certain chaos and destruction and only one man is good
enough for the job, that man is 'Bond…James Bond'. We all know the format, but we love it. The
title is 'The World is Not Enough', and is the final Bond film of the twentieth century, finishing the
millennium with the usual mix of guns, girls and gadgets.
The film utilises exotic locations around the world and yet manages to make London look good. The
Dome at the time of filming was innovative and hadn't yet been reduced to a joke by the general
public. The sets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film fits into the usual Bond criteria. It has explosions, guns, gadgets, girls (foreign girls of
course), chases and cars. There are many close escapes; the best being when Bond escapes from the
nuclear facility in Azabaizan. He is propelled out of the secret tunnels followed by a huge fireball.
The stunts and special effects are staggering. How did they get Bond to fall from an exploding
balloon on to the Dome and bounce down as if was a perfectly normal activity? How did they blow
up an entire mountain? At the climatic ending Bond escapes from the villains lair with a girl, whilst
blowing the whole place up! The stunt people and special effects people must have seemingly
magical powers. No other film character or secret agent can outclass Bond!
Director Michael Apted has created a film that proceeds at a good pace with a strong,
straightforward story line, and yet also includes interesting and sometimes stunning locations. It is
his first action/adventure film, previously making his name as director of ' Gorillas in the Mist'' a
true life, documentary style film. He directs the scenes well and controls them with skill, in turn
bringing out the best in Pierce Brosnan, the cool 'shaken, not stirred' Bond and the evil Renard,
(Robbie Carlyle).
Throughout the film, we are reminded that

The Representation of the ‘Bond Girl' Essay
Whenever there is a Bond film, there is always a Bond girl. She is as indispensable as the gadgets,
the car, the chase and the villain set on overtaking the earth.
They have always been in the centre of controversy; they have always been branded as beautiful
women (often with sexually overt names) who need Bond and ironically, Bond cannot complete his
mission without them. They always seem to have perfection in everything they do. However, this
portrayal of women can be somewhat unrealistic. Some may want the representation of the ‘Bond
Girl' to stay as it is but others may want the portrayal of the ‘Bond Girl' to depict the modern idea
of ‘girl power.'
I for one think that this representation of women is harmless, partly because it is ... Show more

Another purpose of the Bond Girl is simply to provide the audience with the right mixture of
glamour, glitz and showbiz. Their image also helps reinforce Bond's reputation of being irresistible
and in command.
Nevertheless, all that glamour usually comes with a price. Being a Bond Girl has frequently been at
once the pinnacle of an aspiring actress' career and the end of it. For example, Shirley Eaton, best
remembered for being painted gold in Goldfinger back in 1964. Nobody remembers her at all.
Nobody remembers how her husband died young and how she struggled to find other major roles
after being all gold for Sean Connery. It was the beginning and the end for her in one shimmering
moment. The Bond girl seemed a celebration of newly liberated female sexuality. However, that is
the illusion of the Bond philosophy, because when it comes to making it as an actress, all that
glitters in a Bond movie is definitely not gold. Once the public has seen you in a Bond Movie as a
Bond Girl, they automatically conclude that you are ‘dumb' because, portraying a Bond girl isn't
exactly a stretch for a young aspiring actress.
All Bond Girls come with the regular accessories, a body to die for and one that looks best in
bikinis, permanent good hair days, a weird name (e.g. Kissy Suzuki) and plus the ability to coo ‘oh
James!' as she slides between the satin sheets with Mr

Reflection Paper On Poverty Walk
Introduction Going into the Poverty Walk assignment, the thought of burdening myself with further
limitation on my financial life past what I experience daily was extremely stressful. Honestly, I felt
tears welling up in my eyes as I thought, "How can I make this happen? I am a single mom with
enormous levels of responsibilities on my shoulders, and can this assignment be possible?" Per
government standards, my family and I already live below the poverty line with three family
members living well below the income level of $20,420 (U.S. Department Health and Human
Services, 2017). Knowing that I have been following the tight–fisted way of life taught to me by
Dave Ramsey for a few years, I felt confidence that I just needed to adapt and figure out the best
way to fit my life into this assignment. A few things I had working for my challenge were the fact
that I am a farmer, hunter, fisherwoman, and I work with children so I could eat at work for free. I
am currently enrolled in school, volunteer as a Girl Scout troop leader, farm from home, work full
time on a military installation and parent two wonderful girls. This left little room for one more
responsibility but I committed myself and jumped in with two feet. I posted on social media that I
was dropping off the map for the next few days, told my co–workers and friends not to text or call
me, and warned my Girl Scout parents I would be out of the loop for almost a week. Away I went to

time. I carted my younger daughter off to her school, which I considered caregiving, and outside of
the realm of travel, from which I headed to work. I work with young children where we model good

To say that this was just a phase was an understatement. Most little kids go through the phase of
being terrified of strangers, but not all are paralyzed by it for several years.
I was standing there digesting the events around me in the grocery store. People were talking,
seemingly shouting, scuffling around the room, and cackling at the world around them. Some

comment about the person that is introducing us. Simple enough. But for me it continues to be a
battle over word choice. I continue to fear that I will say the wrong thing and come off rude, but I
am truly just trying to fit in. The conversation eventually dies out and I can relax. As I have gotten
older and continue to get older, I start to care less about how others view me and accept that this an
important characteristic that defines who I am. Talking to new people is a challenge, but one that I
welcome. Self improvement is a terrifying thing to think about because of the difficulties it presents,

the number of women that are involved in his life. There seems like a shortage in women in this film

French actress Sophie Marceau plays Elektra King, who is the daughter of a tycoon who wants to
link his pipeline from the former Soviet controlled areas to Europe. Marceau does an incredible job
of playing her role as Elektra. Especially during the intimate scenes with Bond and with her so–
called captor, Renard. Denise Richards is the other Bond girl in this adventure. She plays a nuclear

The Nature Of Villain In The Destructors By Graham Greene
The Destructors, by Graham Greene Samantha Webber 10/13/17 A villain is someone who commits
deplorable actions against others by going out of their way to inflict harm on others. In Destructors
by Graham Greene, the character Trevor "T." is presented as an evil person with malicious intent,
and is a villain because he is unsympathetic to others and destroyed someone's home that meant
very much to them. The nature of villainy allows the reader to understand the theme of code of
behavior. T. is unsympathetic toward others. In the climax of the story, he intentionally destroys
Thomas's house; one of the only houses left after the London Blitz built by Christopher Wren. In the
process, T. goes to almost extreme measures to make sure the house is fully decimated; he locks
Thomas in his own bathroom, leaving him there with small rations until morning. T. came from an
upperclass family, but then he "came down in the world," implying that something happened within
the family that affected their career. Based on T.'s determination to destroy the house, "I swear I can

Sleep Deprived: Article Analysis
Most High School Students Are Sleep Deprived
Most high school students aren't getting enough sleep. Due to school starting early some of the high
school students are only getting a few hours of sleep. When high school students don't get enough
sleep during a school night they are most likely to perform poorly in school. Although this article
has some major strengths, major weaknesses, and gaps, it still supports the reasoning of why high
school students are sleep deprived and what are some of the things we can do to get enough sleep
and have an excellent performance in school.
Major Strengths
The major strengths of this article is the details and how it used supporting details to explain why
high school students are sleep deprived. " The authors found that 10 percent of adolescents sleep
only five hours and 23 percent sleep only six hours on an average school night. More females than
males have sleep deficits as do more African–Americans and whites compared to Hispanics. Nearly
20 percent more 12th–grade students have sleep deficits than those in ninth grade"(Duval, 2010).
That quote was a prime example of supporting how much sleep high school students get on a school

I'd gone insane, or if he was wearing a robe, cone–shaped hat, and elf shoes.
All I could think to say was, "So, you and my dad . . . know each other?"
Baden's eyes flitted to the rearview mirror, though there were no cars behind us. "Yeah, sure," he
said. "We work together."
"Oh . . . so what exactly do you do?"
"That doesn't matter right now."
"Then why–"
"The less you know, the fewer monsters you'll attract," Baden said, like that should be perfectly
obvious. "At least that's what it says in the book."
"Monsters–wait a minute, what do you mean?"
The howling rose up again somewhere behind us, closer than before. Whatever was chasing us was
still on our trail.
"Aiden," my mom said, "there's too much to explain and not enough time. We have to get you to
safety."
"Safety from what? Who's after me?"
"Oh, nobody much," Baden said. "Just Frey and a few of his minions."
"Baden!"
"Sorry, Mrs. Greene. Could you drive faster, please?"
I tried to wrap my mind around what was happening, but I couldn't do it. I knew this wasn't a dream.
My eyes were open.
Mom made a hard right. We turned sharply onto a narrow road, racing past darkened houses and
wooded hills and

Final Evaluation Essay
Final Summary and Evaluation
The goal I achieved was that I applied to Texas A&M–Commerce and got accepted into their school.
However, I am still waiting to be accepted into their Nursing program. I have also been finishing all
my assignments before the deadline. The only thing that has caused me to not reach my entire goal
for that was these journals. I began writing them daily so it was good I made the chance for that, but
I realized I should have posted them each day I was writing. The progress that I made towards the
goals I set were, I ran a couple of mornings and for the most part I tried to cut down on the
unhealthy food choices that I previously had. What helped me succeed on that was finishing my
assignments ahead of time, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where will my busy life take me and when will it feel worth it? 8 am, I was getting ready for work,
9am–5pm I was at the Vision Care Center, 6pm–11pm I was at the Express at Town East mall and
by the time I got home, I was already fed up with life but had three courses to finish by the end of
the month. Obstacles were everywhere and my mind was the worst one. I will try making an effort
to view and think more positively. I hope to have a better perspective about everything around me. I
will squeeze in dinner with the family and find a day off to feel a bit of freedom. The resources I
could start to use more is the library, instead of getting home from work and feeling tired, maybe the
library would motivate me to stay awake and finish more exams/assignments. Overall, I'm really
glad that I had the chance to experience this particular assignment because it triggered me to see that
the world doesn't have to feel like such a busy place. Having this time to type out my thoughts is the
freest I've felt in a while.
There is a wide percentage of Americans struggling to maintain time, which causes these similar

The Representation of Gender in Bond's Films Goldeneye and Goldfinger
There are two films in particular that I have chosen to look at that show how the representation of
gender in Bond movies has changed throughout the years. These two films are 'Goldeneye' and
'Goldfinger.'
There are many reasons that the representation of gender has changed between these two films. The
most obvious being a change in society. The two films were made thirty one years apart. Women are
now accepted as being something more that just producing babies and being there to be slept with.
Between the Bond films 'Licensed to Kill' and 'Goldeneye' a lot of changes in characters were made.
This is due to a lot of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This demonstrates exactly how women's roles have changed.
We see Bond as a hero from the start of both 'Goldeneye' and 'Goldfinger' the difference being that
in the earlier film, Bond used the woman, who he is kissing as a shield to save himself from being
shot. This shows that he has a higher opinion of himself and complete disregard for women. It
shows how women are represented as being disposable.
In the later film 'Goldeneye' Bond puts Natalias life first, when the train is about to blow up. This
shows how representation of gender has changed from the earlier film. Bond now sees Natalia as an
equal and wants to ensure that she is safe before himself.
Another example of how in the earlier films women were seen to be sex objects is when Bond is
talking to a pretty blond woman, but as soon as Felix comes arrives Bond slaps the woman on the
bottom and send her on her way declaring that she is no longer required because its 'mans talk.'
In 'Goldfinger' women are there for amusement, a trophy figure. Goldfinger himself demonstrates
this himself by paying Gill to be seen with him.
'Goldeneye' shows how women are more equal. 'Zenia Onatopp' shows how women are being
represented. When racing with Bond she is equally as good. She challenges him and is very
assertive. 'Zenia' is represented in the same way as the men from 'Goldfinger.' (The men are all sat

Aint No Mountain High Enough And Grenade Comparison
"I will jump in front of a train for you!" Phrases like this will melt a woman's heart. Musicians
normally express their feelings through lyrics, in various genres of music. One usually turns to
another person for emotional support, but others will direct themselves towards music. In the same
way that music can heal a soul, it is also capable of demonstrating others to show affection for
whom they love. One lesson taught throughout love songs is, love is unconditional affection with no
limits or conditions. Two songs that come to mind are "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin
Gaye, and "Grenade" by Bruno Mars. Both of these songs talk about love, and passion, however one
talks about a desire for somebody, while the other expresses heartbreak.
Bruno Mars and Marvin Gaye express their love in grand ways. In similarity, they both have a
compassionate and sentimental vibe that speaks to a person emotionally. They both use big gestures
to show the one they love how they feel. Bruno Mars sings "I would jump in front of a train for ya,
you know I would do anything for ya", therefore; he is saying he would die for his love. While

Both musicians show that they would do anything for the ones that they love, whether that be dying,
or going to extreme lengths just to see them. Passionate words speak volumes in songs, it shows a
true, and in depth feeling. Bruno Mars saying "I would go through all this pain, take a bullet straight
right through my brain, yes, I would die for you, baby" for the one he loves, says that he would pay
the ultimate price for them. While Marvin Gaye sings "if you're ever in trouble, I'll be there on the
double, just as fast as I can" which means he would do whatever it would take to get there and help
his loved one, no matter the cost. One can become very passionate towards another person easily by
these two songs. They also give the audiences a message in between the lyrics as they are

Play Offers Children Rich Learning Environments

  • 1. Play Offers Children Rich Learning Environments Play is the most common activity in childhood. Trough play children can learn, create, and, socialize at the same time it helps children to increase their knowledge. That is why Crowther states, "In summary, play offers children rich learning experiences that enhance all levels of development" (Crowther, 2016, p. 12). In this particular observation, Clara and Maria agreed to play the roles of mother and daughter when they started to play. For that reason, I consider that the stage which is the most appropriate to that style of activity is cooperative play. In her book, "Creating Effective Learning Environments, Crowther states", Crowther claims "They planned what they needed and decided on the roles to play" (Crowther, 2016, p. 5). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the second case, Jairo was playing by himself. He repeated several times the alphabet using Mr. Potato's mouth to express his cognitive advancement. It seems to me that the appropriate stage of cognitive play that he used is functional play. Crowther claims that "This type of play is also referred to as repetitive play or practice play" (Crowther, 2016, p. 6). It was obvious when Jairo repeated the alphabet that he was very capable of doing it. Section 4 Environment and Materials In general, people believe that the atmosphere has a big role in the learning environment. It is not an exception in the preschool room of my field placement centre. The children are encouraged to play because the environment is adequate and has maximized learning spaces, indoor space and storage. First, in terms of space maximization there is not too much room to have many learning centres. According to Crowther, "One way to maximize space is by placing centres that are linked closer together so that the space and many of the materials can be shared effectively" (Crowther, 2016, p. 38). It is one of the most amazing things that they do in this preschool room. The children can play with sand or water in the sensory centre. The inconvenience is that children cannot play with sand and water at the same time. However, this does not really matter. The ECE plans activities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Characteristics Of Community Psychology Richard Henry PSY 324E October 14, 2017 A Collective Mind Before we can discuss what community psychology is, we must understand what a community is. We often view a community as a collective or randomized people, some happen to work close by, some happen to like the housing market and decided to raise a family, and some may have been in the same town for their whole lives, feeling no interest to look beyond. What is represented here, is the differences within the individuals. No two people have the same exact story, the same upbringing, the same experience. Often times, your neighbor may be nothing like you, yet you may have similarities. The similarities may come from the way you both think politically, to the teams you root for. (you notice he too, has a 12th man sticker plastered on his back windshield) Community psychology is the collection of individuals, their moralities, their viewpoints on the world and the basis in which you collectively live. For the example of different communities, I'll take Portland, Oregon, my new place of residence, versus where I am originally from, Ocean City, New Jersey. Portland is recognized as one of the more inclusive places in the world, a collection of people who "look out for each other", wanting everyone to feel both welcome and equal. We often look at a place as being a general population of similar people, where we assume everyone in Portland just moves here and becomes influenced. But I tend to believe that people live ... • 7. Gaye What's Going On Analysis What's Going On by Marvin Gaye The message of Marvin Gaye's What's Going On is that the abuse of the government's authorities will not lead to peace and harmony within the United States. Marvin Gaye sings about his through his lyrics that show the destruction inflicted upon normal families. He sings; "Mother, mother/ There's too many of you crying/ Brother, brother, brother/ There's far too many f you dying" (1–4) which show the families that have been affected by things such as poverty, or war, or police brutality, which was prominent and harmful back in the 1970s. Gaye sings about how "war is not the answer/For only love can conquer hate" (9–10). He is saying that the violence between people will not solve the problems they currently face and that to conquer problems they need to be united. It's clear that Gaye is singing about police authorities when he sings "Picket lines and picket signs/ Don't punish me with brutality" (13–14) and references to the signs used by protesters and workers on strike. When Gaye sings "Don't punish me with brutality" (14), he is singing about the police force used against protestors although most of them were not harmful. Marvin Gaye sings about the violence between civilians and authorities. He sees the change needed and how The main message of the poem shown throughout the lyrics is that the authority's force against civilians who are against governmental actions is not useful, nor will it bring harmony within the country. I took notes on four main themes regarding; Bond's relationship and treatment of the women, the roles of the women in the film (how key they were to the plot), and the social depiction and life of their character in the film and their sexual relationship with Bond. Through textual analysis I discovered that in three of the main themes excluding the latter there had been significant development. Comparing two of the themes:Bond relationship and treatment of the women and their importance to the plot in films throughout the franchise, I found that in earlier Bond films throughout the Sean Connery era (Dr No. to Never say never again) and the beginning of the Roger Moore era up to The man with a golden gun, generally showed Bond girls in a more subordinate role to Bond. In Goldfinger Bond slaps a girl on the bottom and tells her "man talk!" when his fellow agent arrives prompting her to leave, exhibiting her unimportance. Bond also tricks solitaire into having sex with him by fooling her with trick cards in Live and let die. He also handles women roughly, slapping them around for information or twisting their arms around their back (Dr No.). I have Professor Hansen, and he was great to have because he is very knowledgeable in the IQP processes. I learned about different cultures, governments, finances, and most importantly, how to learn a society, and make beneficial changes to it. This skill was learned through the global competency project. In this project, I participated in group work, analyzed analytical data about counties poverty, heath issues, and education, and presented our findings on a poster. This class also required me to attend the global fair as a freshman. I was a little scared going, because I was a little freshman, wandering around not knowing what to do. But it was great practice for my sophomore year, where I engaged in conversation with past participants at the IQP locations. International Studies very relevant to and off–campus IQP because it taught me that countries are very different, and I need to be ready to adapt to a new lifestyle, but most importantly, have fun doing it. Intermediate Mechanics PH2201 – Intermediate Mechanics has been the most challenging class I have taken at WPI. This prompted lots of teamwork. Millions of brilliant stars can be seen in the blacky sky. The most amazing thing you can do is to sit and watch these twinkling jewels. You can also watch the moon in its different shapes. To describe in words what your eyes can see is certainly a challenge. In the morning you feel amazed at the colorful flowers, flying birds and butterflies, green trees and the shiny sun. A view to kill, the second James Bond movie to be analysed in this essay, has the same gun shot scene at the start, but the action in the movie is much better. This is probably due to the date of release (1985). Dr No was released in 1962. The difference is probably due to more advanced technology being available. We primarily connected through text messages, email, and short meetings after class. Albeit meeting was difficult, our communication throughout the semester worked out well. To accomplish our tasks each member of our group would take a section of the paper and contribute their ideas. Having more meetings in person would have given us a better advantage on the tasks, but due to member's schedules, we had to make do with the time we had. Our group could have improved on our event to hand out pamphlets by getting more volunteers to assist in passing them out, as well as go for a longer period of time. Again with class schedules and work, the entire group was not able to participate. We could have also benefited by adding something to get people's attention, possibly posters and signs. The day of our group's event we all wore purple to represent Lupus while passing out information, but doing something unusual along with that, may have prompted more questions and interest in the message we were trying to pass. Like an ill man he may swear inside him, and like Dostoevsky's Underground Man he will let out a high–pitched cry that speaks: "Enough! This world is not enough!" He is still motionless for although he wants to dance, his mind is not at ease––what is the use of dancing anyway, when all the troubles of the world burden his shoulders (Kaufmann 71, 72)? He remains inert, perhaps slightly trembling, a tingling anticipation of an unknown surge tickling his soul. His inaction drives him insane because if he refuses to dance without a reason, he will remain inert but if, on the other hand, dances without a reason, his lack of determination will manifest itself as self–consciousness and fall pray to the eyes of his audience. But who ever heard of rationality as prerequisite for action? The whole of History is littered with examples of irrational choices, where man acts without consideration for reason or advantage. The poster is lively and eye–catching and is full of bright, vivid images. The poster fits in very well with the title of the film, as it looks like James Bond is going to embark on some international mission, the image of some of the continents in flames shows this. There are also several images circling around the main characters in the film, which look futuristic and scientific and feature explosions and car chases. Comparing the two posters also shows how technology and science has progressed through the decades and this is very apparent in the 1999 film poster, which looks far more advanced, as far as gadgets and weapons go. The 'Dr No' poster does not specify the genre so well. It could be for several different genres. The original James Bond theme is mostly played in the action parts of the movie and at the start of the movie. The James Bond soundtrack theme is played in all of his movies, and when you hear that soundtrack you would associate it with James Bond. When many people that hear that soundtrack being played somewhere they would immediately link it with James Bond because it is something that resembles him. When there is a romantic scene in Goldeneye they would play calm and soothing music, and when there is a fight they would play music that is loud and fast and will get you hyped up. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What particularly resonated with me about Leslie Williams' speech was the discussion about uncomfortable conversations about privilege and recognizing our own biases. By describing her personal experiences, Leslie Williams emphasized that students of color, LGBTQIA+ students, disabled students, and others often feel uncomfortable and isolated because of their identities. Although many students feel uncomfortable speaking about these topics, admitting that we are privileged, and recognizing that we grow up with different biases, other students feel this discomfort every day and aren't able to escape it after Day of Dialogue ends. Although I often feel uncomfortable admitting my own privilege, I think it is important to acknowledge that some of us have the privilege to avoid these awkward conversations when they make us uncomfortable while other students have to live with this discomfort every day. Avoiding these conversations not only limits our capacity for change, but also our own understanding of how our identities are shaped by society. Though uncomfortable, these are necessary conversations that push us to reflect on our own experiences, admit our own biases, and have effective conversations in order to create more equality on campus. These same themes of acknowledging privilege and the importance of stories were emphasized during the breakout session with Peggy McIntosh: From ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Depression : Depression In 'Tears Of A Tiger' Depression Tears of a tiger is a novel about a boy named Andy. Andy had a really terrible drinking and driving accident with his friends. One of his friends, Robbie, died and Andy feels completely guilty for his death. Throughout the book he showed signs of depression and his problems kept progressing socially, emotionally, and performance–wise. Depression, a frighteningly common disorder. "Depression has symptoms such as talk of death, rapid mood swings, expression of guilt, troubles of finishing projects, too little sleep and complaints of headaches, and trouble keeping friends" ( Teen Health Wellness p. 4–5). These symptoms were all present in the novel to the main character. For example, after the car crash that Andy's best friend Robbie died in, his talk with the psychiatrist was " ( Andy) Well if you say so. But I really am okay now. I have headaches sometimes, and I can't sleep some nights, but I feel a whole lot better than I did right after the accident. How did you feel then? (Psychiatrist) Like a piece of crap. (Andy) Why? (Psychiatrist) 'Cause it was my fault that Rob died. I was drinkin'. I was drivin' (Andy)" (Draper p.43) This quote just presented expression of guilt, too little sleep and complaints of headaches. Another example is when Andy and Keisha (Andy's girlfriend) started to slowly depart from each other when Andy had these rapid mood swings on Keisha and got so unacceptable for Keisha that she ended their relationship. • 48. Women In James Bond Films Women are deemed as a "minority" yet make up 51% of the world population and in 2014 made up only 12% of protagonists in films. And that is just on–screen, the percentage decreases as you go farther and farther into behind–the–scenes positions such as directors, cinematographers, and writers. Add race and ethnicity and those characters' percentages decline even more (Lauzen, 2015.) Women in film and television are often portrayed with emphasis based on their body type and in advertisement are largely objectified. The large objectification and misrepresentation of women in the media has led to an offset psychological view of women from growing up to adulthood. The constant portrayal of women as an assistant or helper in prominent is the popular James Bond films. Throughout the text, it seems pretty clear that the division and the staff encounter some problems that are typically related to the design component of the Open System Model at the group level. A lot of staff members were complaining that meetings were often ineffective in the way they were organized. Regarding that matters, staff members highlight the fact that they rarely solve any issues during meetings "Meetings seem to be a waste of time in terms of moving the business ahead". It appears to be mainly due to the lack of organization and agenda during meetings. Conversation often last for ever without specifically speaking about the problems per say. We said that Task Structure was equivalent to the way the group's work is designed. Meetings are supposed to help the group's work to be designed. The problem really is that there is no structure enabling the group's work to be designed. Staff meetings are apparently not structured enough. No systematic approach is clearly set which adds another hindrance to the already too large staff member's amount. As no structure is really present when conducting meetings, priorities of issues are often blurry and no solutions clearly emerge. Minor and minor issues are addressed with almost the same importance; everybody is allowed to talk which inevitably leads to a total confusion and therefore a clear lack of effectiveness. Low skill jobs made available by a high school education are, as time goes by, more and more likely to be automated or sent overseas. Even college degrees sometimes fail to secure their holders a solid career. Technology keeps advancing, and as it pushes forward, many workers look to education to stay relevant. Thomas Friedman, New York Times journalist and author of "The World Is Flat", says "...its not only what you know but how you learn that will set you apart. They then take tests or create projects to prove their "competency" in the subject. Online CBE takes this new method a step further, by making it more broadly accessible to any student with a reliable internet connection, as well as reducing another common barrier to higher education: the money required to attain a degree. The Center for American Progress published an article on CBE concluded that, "Competency–based education could be the key to providing quality, postsecondary education to millions of Americans at a lower cost" (Soares). Online CBE has the potential to be cheaper and more accessible than traditional education, enabling many more students who want to better their lives by learning to fulfill their dreams and passions. These online programs also allow students to keep working full time, further reducing the time and money barriers as they work themselves through school. Timothy Tapestry was a tall man with blond hair and a subdued face. He had lived in this town his whole life, and just like any other morning, he gazed happily at the hills in the distance. Ever since he was young, Timothy had marveled at how the sun lit up those hills in the morning, and since he was a creature of habit, he did the same today. Once again the British secret service has to save the world from certain chaos and destruction and only one man is good enough for the job, that man is 'Bond…James Bond'. We all know the format, but we love it. The title is 'The World is Not Enough', and is the final Bond film of the twentieth century, finishing the millennium with the usual mix of guns, girls and gadgets. There are many close escapes; the best being when Bond escapes from the nuclear facility in Azabaizan. He is propelled out of the secret tunnels followed by a huge fireball. The stunts and special effects are staggering. How did they get Bond to fall from an exploding balloon on to the Dome and bounce down as if was a perfectly normal activity? How did they blow up an entire mountain? At the climatic ending Bond escapes from the villains lair with a girl, whilst blowing the whole place up! The stunt people and special effects people must have seemingly magical powers. No other film character or secret agent can outclass Bond! Director Michael Apted has created a film that proceeds at a good pace with a strong, straightforward story line, and yet also includes interesting and sometimes stunning locations. She is as indispensable as the gadgets, the car, the chase and the villain set on overtaking the earth. They have always been in the centre of controversy; they have always been branded as beautiful women (often with sexually overt names) who need Bond and ironically, Bond cannot complete his mission without them. They always seem to have perfection in everything they do. However, this portrayal of women can be somewhat unrealistic. Another purpose of the Bond Girl is simply to provide the audience with the right mixture of glamour, glitz and showbiz. Their image also helps reinforce Bond's reputation of being irresistible and in command. Nevertheless, all that glamour usually comes with a price. Being a Bond Girl has frequently been at once the pinnacle of an aspiring actress' career and the end of it. For example, Shirley Eaton, best remembered for being painted gold in Goldfinger back in 1964. Nobody remembers her at all. Nobody remembers how her husband died young and how she struggled to find other major roles after being all gold for Sean Connery. It was the beginning and the end for her in one shimmering moment. The Bond girl seemed a celebration of newly liberated female sexuality. However, that is the illusion of the Bond philosophy, because when it comes to making it as an actress, all that glitters in a Bond movie is definitely not gold. Once the public has seen you in a Bond Movie as a Bond Girl, they automatically conclude that you are ‘dumb' because, portraying a Bond girl isn't exactly a stretch for a young aspiring actress. • 62. Reflection Paper On Poverty Walk Introduction Going into the Poverty Walk assignment, the thought of burdening myself with further limitation on my financial life past what I experience daily was extremely stressful. Honestly, I felt tears welling up in my eyes as I thought, "How can I make this happen? I am a single mom with enormous levels of responsibilities on my shoulders, and can this assignment be possible?" Per government standards, my family and I already live below the poverty line with three family members living well below the income level of $20,420 (U.S. Department Health and Human Services, 2017). Knowing that I have been following the tight–fisted way of life taught to me by Dave Ramsey for a few years, I felt confidence that I just needed to adapt and figure out the best way to fit my life into this assignment. A few things I had working for my challenge were the fact that I am a farmer, hunter, fisherwoman, and I work with children so I could eat at work for free. I am currently enrolled in school, volunteer as a Girl Scout troop leader, farm from home, work full time on a military installation and parent two wonderful girls. This left little room for one more responsibility but I committed myself and jumped in with two feet. I posted on social media that I was dropping off the map for the next few days, told my co–workers and friends not to text or call me, and warned my Girl Scout parents I would be out of the loop for almost a week. I walked my older daughter to the bus stop then got ready for the morning without showering, with clean clothes that I prepared ahead of time. I carted my younger daughter off to her school, which I considered caregiving, and outside of the realm of travel, from which I headed to work. French actress Sophie Marceau plays Elektra King, who is the daughter of a tycoon who wants to link his pipeline from the former Soviet controlled areas to Europe. Marceau does an incredible job of playing her role as Elektra. Especially during the intimate scenes with Bond and with her so– called captor, Renard. Denise Richards is the other Bond girl in this adventure. She plays a nuclear scientist named Dr. Christmas Jones. Her performance in the film is ok, but could be better. The nature of villainy allows the reader to understand the theme of code of behavior. T. is unsympathetic toward others. T. came from an upperclass family, but then he "came down in the world," implying that something happened within the family that affected their career. Based on T.'s determination to destroy the house, "I swear I can fix it," it can be inferred that T. wants to take out his resent about losing everything on someone else. The Representation of Gender in Bond's Films Goldeneye and Goldfinger There are two films in particular that I have chosen to look at that show how the representation of gender in Bond movies has changed throughout the years. These two films are 'Goldeneye' and 'Goldfinger.' There are many reasons that the representation of gender has changed between these two films. The most obvious being a change in society. This demonstrates exactly how women's roles have changed. We see Bond as a hero from the start of both 'Goldeneye' and 'Goldfinger' the difference being that in the earlier film, Bond used the woman, who he is kissing as a shield to save himself from being shot. This shows that he has a higher opinion of himself and complete disregard for women. It shows how women are represented as being disposable. In the later film 'Goldeneye' Bond puts Natalias life first, when the train is about to blow up. This shows how representation of gender has changed from the earlier film. Bond now sees Natalia as an equal and wants to ensure that she is safe before himself. Another example of how in the earlier films women were seen to be sex objects is when Bond is talking to a pretty blond woman, but as soon as Felix comes arrives Bond slaps the woman on the bottom and send her on her way declaring that she is no longer required because its 'mans talk.' In 'Goldfinger' women are there for amusement, a trophy figure. Goldfinger himself demonstrates this himself by paying Gill to be seen with him. 'Goldeneye' shows how women are more equal. 'Zenia Onatopp' shows how women are being represented. When racing with Bond she is equally as good. She challenges him and is very assertive. Musicians normally express their feelings through lyrics, in various genres of music. One usually turns to another person for emotional support, but others will direct themselves towards music. In the same way that music can heal a soul, it is also capable of demonstrating others to show affection for whom they love. One lesson taught throughout love songs is, love is unconditional affection with no limits or conditions.
