J.D. Wells is drafted by the San Diego Padres and adopts a rabbit named Ramona to keep him company. In his first MLB game, he goes 1 for 4 but Ramona cheers him up. The team mascot volunteers to watch Ramona during games and brings her onto the field during the 7th inning stretch. J.D. has an incredible rookie season, being selected for the All-Star game and winning Rookie of the Year. In the playoffs, J.D. hits a walk-off double and homerun to help the Padres reach the World Series. In Game 7, J.D. hits a game-winning homerun in the bottom of the 9th to give the
2. Chapter 1: The Pet
There was a great baseball player, his
name was J.D. Wells. Shortly after being
drafted by the San Diego Padres, he thought
he needed a pet to keep him company.
3. He searched for a while for the perfect pet. He
saw cats, dogs, and many other things. Then he
saw the perfect pet! It was a rabbit and her name
was Ramona.
4. Chapter 2: The First Series
It was time for J.D’s first game as a MLB
player. He went 1 for 4 with a double. He was
a little upset, but when he went home
Ramona cheered him up.
5. J.D. woke up and tended to Ramona.
Shortly after, he went down to the field. He
felt badly for Ramona, so he took her to the
field. He had to get a sitter for her though.
6. Chapter 3: The Unexpected Sitter
It turned out that the Padres’ team mascot
was the team sitter. Ramona was the star of
the show. In the seventh inning stretch, the
mascot brought her out and let her run the
bases.
7. J.D. was a little surprised, but was happy.
Later in the game, he hit a home run to give
his team the lead. They ended up winning 6 to
4. J.D. went 2 for 3 with 1 homerun and 2 rbi’s
(runs batted in).
8. After the game, J.D. thanked the mascot
for everything. That night J.D. was so happy
that he couldn’t sleep.
9. Chapter 4: The All-Star Break
J.D. had incredible stats at The All-Star
Break (Unbelievable if you are a rookie). Since
he did so well, they decided to elect him for
the All-Star Game.
10. The All-Star Break was fun because J.D. got
to spent a lot of time with Ramona. He also
got to take some time off.
11. During the All-Star Game, J.D. went 2 for 5
with 2 doubles. He had lots of fun before,
during, and after the game with some friends.
When the second half of the season came, J.D.
was ready.
12. Chapter 5: The Second Half
J.D. had a good second half of the season.
Everyone was amazed by the rookie. He would
have a lot of other teams looking at him when
his contract was up.
13. J.D. sprained his ankle in the 128th game.
He had to miss 12 games, but that didn’t hold
him back. He still won the rookie of the year
award that same year.
14. His final stats were…… 312 batting average, 37
stolen bases, 26 homeruns, and 84 rbi’s.
15. Chapter 6: The Post Season
J.D. hit a walk off double to win the game
(the second game of the series). They went on
and advanced to the next round of the
playoffs.
16. It is the last round of the playoffs before
going to the world series. The Padres are
down 3-2 in a seven game series. If they win
two in a row, they will go to the world series.
17. They won the next game, so the series was
tied 3-3 in the top of the 9th. J.D. hit an
awesome homerun to give the Padres the
lead!
18. They were up by two in the bottom of the
9th, with runners on second and third, with
two outs. Just then, the other team hit one far
(If this goes over the fence, then the Padres
lose).
19. J.D. runs and jumps up, to catch the ball
and win the game for the Padres.
20. Chapter 6: the world series
The world series wins went like this……..

21. It was game 7 of the world series in the
bottom of the 9th. There were 2 outs, they were
down by one with a runner on second. J.D. was
up and it was all down to him. Just then, he hit a
homerun to win the world series. It was the first
the Padres had ever won.
22. They were so happy. They celebrated for 1
week straight. They even let Ramona run
around the bases.
