The pupils learn to make observations and write them down. They also gain an understanding
of differences of climate, flora and fauna in different European countries. They develop their
foreign language skills: telling about temperature and weather, describing phenomena in
nature, telling about plants and animals.
Process:
1-Starting activities.
Pupils follow and report the advancing spring by writing down daily temperatures and
weather. Pupils take photographs of snow melting or flowers starting to bloom. They make
observations of migrating birds, insects (bees and butterflies), frogs, snakes etc. Pupils can
keep journals (blogs) about their observations.
The weekly or daily reports are published in twinspace . Students take photos, videos and
share in twinspace, social media, project web site and project blog.
2-consolidation:
Pupils compare the differences in climate and also in the flora and fauna in social media. They
ask and answer questions. Pupils can also discuss different seasons in the forum: what’s the
weather like in summer, autumn, winter and spring in their own country. What do they do in
different seasons, what sports are played, which season they like best etc.
April - Food and eating
• pupils exchange recipes of their favourite dishes.
• they can cook their partners’ recipes at home and bring the food to school or they can cook
them at school in cookery class.Students can connect online via skype or hangouts .
• everybody tastes the dishes
• this is documented by photos of the dishes and the cooking process itself
• Students take photos, videos etc . and share in twinspace, social media, project web site and
project blog.
Process:
Pupils write down everything they eat and drink during one whole day. They list their meals
(and their contents) and all snacks and sweets as well. They take photos of their meals. They
compare the results and discuss their own eating habits, they can also discuss what’s healthy
and what’s not so healthy. They can go on discussing their likes and dislikes in general and
their favourite recipes. They can compare the cost of food in different countries.
Pedagogical Objectives
The pupils learn about healthy eating habits and food: energy, vitamins, proteins etc. They
come to an understanding of cultural differences in food habits. They can also develop their
foreign language skills: expressing opinion, likes and dislikes, understanding instructions
(recipes), and their mathematics: calculating joules and costs.
