Claude Monet and Auguste Renoir set up their easels at La Grenouillère,
a boating and bathing resort on the Seine River, not far from Paris …
5. La Grenouillere (Frog-Pool)
a floating restaurant and boat-hire on the Seine at Croissy-sur-Seine,
it had become during the 1860's a popular place for Parisians, who enjoyed the rural surroundings.
Not long before Monet arrived, the resort had just received a visit from Emperor Napoleon III and his family.
“Le Camembert”
Renoir and Monet place their easels in the same place and paint the same scenes.
They also take the same perspective.
They immortalize "the Camembert" (also called "the flowerpot"), a small island with a tree.
