Chinese characters play an important role during Chinese New Year. They are used for greetings and wishes such as:The character for “Happiness”The couplet surrounding a door
When people think of Chinese characters, they often think of pictures or drawings. That is correct, in the sense that pictures are the foundations of this sophisticated writing system. Here are a few basics…Now many of you may think that learning Chinese characters is not easy. But we will prove you that it is actually not so hard… if you can stretch your imagination!
The combination of different pictures can create new pictures, therefore new ideas!
(in its purest form!)
(agrarian)
(except during an eclipse…)
The duplication of one same characters can give rise to other ideas or reinforce an idea
… and it often gets gamy in there!
Chinese people have a wild imagination, don’t you think!? However, some people started digging and gave new meaning to some characters because of their appearance…Important to remember:Chinese people saw the object or thought of a concept first, then came up with a symbolic representation, and then started mixing them up!
