INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION:
 A hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is a type of hybrid
vehicle that combines a conventional internal
combustion engine (ICE) system with an electric
propulsion system (hybrid vehicle drivetrain). The
presence of the electric powertrain is intended to
achieve either better fuel economy than a conventional
vehicle or better performance. There is a variety of
HEV types, and the degree to which each functions as
an electric vehicle (EV) also varies. The most common
form of HEV is the hybrid electric car, although hybrid
electric trucks (pickups and tractors) and buses also
exist.
WORKING:
 Hybrid-electric vehicles combine a battery-powered
electric motor with a conventional internal
combustion engine. They offer the driving range and
rapid refueling of conventional vehicles, together with
features of electric vehicles.
 The ICE and electric motor are used for driving fuels
 It also consists of an battery which is used for storing
energy.
 Its main idea is for working of propulsion system in
harmony.

 The main job of internal combustion engine is to
charge the battery and provide rotation power

 Electric motors are located in different parts of the vehicles
depending on the manufacture.
These motors are connected to the transmission and helps to
drive the wheels
 The batteries in the vehicle last for the entire life span of the
vehicle and helps to store and send electricity
 It doesn’t need to get plugged in because the charging
demands are met by the management system.
 These functions are managed by computers or series of
computers that taes decissions according to our needs.

For example if your car drives at 20km/hr the car asks
your battery if this much power is enough and if it is yes
Then the ICE turns off and the car will run with
electricity.
If the battery goes low then the engine comes back and
turn on to recharge the battery.

 2. Financial Benefits
 3. Less dependence on Fossil Fuels
 4. Regenerative Braking System
 5. Built From Light Materials
 6. Higher Resale Value
Disadvantages of hybrid electric
vehicles
 1. Less Power
 2. Can be Expensive
 3. Poorer Handling
 4. Higher Maintenance Costs
 5. Presence of High Voltage in Batteries
Conclusion:
 Maintenance free applications.
 Most efficient in urban areas
 Back ups and UPS systems
 Major key for vehicle energy saving
 Energy storage systems such as batteries are major
technologies for downsizing and cost down for HEV
systems for widespread introduction.
 Best way to save the envronment.

Hybrid electric vehicle

INTRODUCTION:  A hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is a type of hybrid vehicle that combines a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) system with an electric propulsion system (hybrid vehicle drivetrain). The presence of the electric powertrain is intended to achieve either better fuel economy than a conventional vehicle or better performance. There is a variety of HEV types, and the degree to which each functions as an electric vehicle (EV) also varies. The most common form of HEV is the hybrid electric car, although hybrid electric trucks (pickups and tractors) and buses also exist.

  • 5. WORKING:  Hybrid-electric vehicles combine a battery-powered electric motor with a conventional internal combustion engine. They offer the driving range and rapid refueling of conventional vehicles, together with features of electric vehicles.  The ICE and electric motor are used for driving fuels  It also consists of an battery which is used for storing energy.  Its main idea is for working of propulsion system in harmony.

These motors are connected to the transmission and helps to drive the wheels  The batteries in the vehicle last for the entire life span of the vehicle and helps to store and send electricity  It doesn’t need to get plugged in because the charging demands are met by the management system.  These functions are managed by computers or series of computers that taes decissions according to our needs.
  • 10. Contd. For example if your car drives at 20km/hr the car asks your battery if this much power is enough and if it is yes Then the ICE turns off and the car will run with electricity. If the battery goes low then the engine comes back and turn on to recharge the battery.
