thing that ever happened
to me…”

Lance Edward Armstrong

In October 1996 he was diagnosed as having testicular cancer with a tumor that had
metastasized to his brain and lungs. His cancer treatments included brain and testicular surgery
and extensive chemotherapy, and his prognosis was originally poor. He went on to win the Tour
de France each year from 1999 to 2005, and is the only person to win seven times having
broken the previous record of five wins shared by Miguel Indurain, Bernard Hinault, Eddy
Merckx, and Jacques Anquetil.
In 1999, he was named the ABC Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year. In 2000 he won the
Prince of Asturias Award in Sports. In 2002, Sports Illustrated magazine named him Sportsman
of the Year. He was also named Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year for the years 2002–
2005. He received ESPN's ESPY Award for Best Male Athlete in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006, and
won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Overseas Personality Award in 2003. Armstrong
announced his retirement from racing on July 24, 2005, at the end of the 2005 Tour de France
but returned to competitive cycling in January 2009 and finished third in the 2009 Tour de
France….. Returned to triathlon in the inaugural Ironman Panama race, on February 12, 2012
“I’m going to go on and I’m
going to beat it,” he said.
“And I’m going to have fun.”


Earvin "Magic" Johnson Jr.

After a physical before the 1991–92 NBA season, Johnson discovered that he had tested positive for
HIV. In a press conference held on November 7, 1991, Johnson made a public announcement that he
would retire immediately.

He has lived for more than 20 years with the virus. He is robust, runs a thriving business empire and is
leading a group bidding to buy the Los Angeles Dodgers. His immune system is indistinguishable from a
normal person’s, his doctor says. Science caught up to the public optimism that made Johnson sound
daft or in deep denial on the day of his announcement.

Joey Albert's meteoric rise as a gifted musical artist was interrupted by serious illnesses. After surviving
cervical cancer in 1995, Albert was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2003. She underwent a successful
surgery in July 2003 and recovered after a series of chemotherapy. By October 2003, she was besieged
with offers to sing again. But Albert had to complete rounds of chemotherapy until March 2004.

Since she migrated to Canada in 1994, Albert has been living in Vancouver, British Columbia with her
husband Vicente Pacis III and daughters Trixie and Margarita. Between her professional commitments as
a performer, she also owns and administers a pre-school daycare center in Vancouver as well as hosts
the Joey Albert Show on Filipino--Canadian television.

      Later in Life, because of bad parenting and their
      environment, they develop negative habit patterns:

      1. Inhibited – “I Can’t…” (Fear of Failure)

      2. Compulsive – “I have to…” (Fear of rejection, and
         fear of disapproval, fear of not being loved)

As you feel yourself moving towards something that is important to you, your
self-confidence and self-esteem go up… you feel happy, powerful, strong, and you
feel a surge of energy and elation… you become more creative… all of your best
qualities emerge…


The best way to blot out all negative experiences in your life is to keep thinking
and working on your goal… Always swing your mind away from negative thoughts…


When you keep thinking of your goals, all the negative things just fall away…


When you turn towards the sunshine, all the shadows fall behind you…
Writing goals activates the three learning modalities visual,
auditory, and kinaesthetic… Write it and the super-conscious
mind will work its magic 24/7…
1. Decide exactly what you want
   a. Business – Career goals (what)

   b. Personal – Family Goals (why)

   c. Self-Improvement Goals (how)
2. Write it down, make it specific, and set a
deadline by adding “by” after each goal

Law of Accelerating Acceleration
“When you start towards your goal, your goal start towards you at a rapid rate, and the
faster you move towards your goal, the faster the goal moves towards you…”

“The greater clarity you have towards your goal, the faster you move towards it and the
faster it moves toward you…”
3. Identify the obstacles you will have to overcome to
achieve your goal…
“Eighty percent (80%) of your obstacles are within yourself, only twenty percent (20%) are
external...”

“Ask: What is it in me?”
4. Identify additional knowledge you will require to
   achieve your goal…
There is usually one skill that’s keeping you away from your goal…

Ask yourself, “what one skill If I was excellent at it, would help me the most?”

Any skill is learnable…

You are probably one skill away from your goal…
5. Identify people whose help and cooperation will be
   required
When approaching people for help, always ask, “what’s in it for them?” (WIIF)

Do the deliberate extreme –to work longer hours to achieve your goal and tell your
  family “I’ll make it up to you…”
6. Make a plan of action
Make list of your goals according to sequence and priority… Which goals have the
  greatest impact?
7. Do something every day…

All you need to do to raise your self-confidence, self-esteem, and level of attainment is to
have an absolutely crystal-clear goal and to work on it every single day…
Homework:
1. Write 10 goals for the year like it already happened… Give it a positive tone…
    In writing goals, use the format “I + action verb…”

2. Which goal would have the greatest possible impact…?

 Your top goal becomes your Major Definite Purpose… It becomes your Life Focus…

 When you know your Definite Purpose, you know that You Are Unstoppable…

                    I am Unstoppable!
 There is nothing that you can’t do when you put your mind to it…
You have Unlimited God-Given Potential…
The only limit to what you can achieve is your mind…

  • 20. “Cancer was the best thing that ever happened to me…” Lance Edward Armstrong In October 1996 he was diagnosed as having testicular cancer with a tumor that had metastasized to his brain and lungs. His cancer treatments included brain and testicular surgery and extensive chemotherapy, and his prognosis was originally poor. He went on to win the Tour de France each year from 1999 to 2005, and is the only person to win seven times having broken the previous record of five wins shared by Miguel Indurain, Bernard Hinault, Eddy Merckx, and Jacques Anquetil. He received ESPN's ESPY Award for Best Male Athlete in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006, and won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Overseas Personality Award in 2003. Armstrong announced his retirement from racing on July 24, 2005, at the end of the 2005 Tour de France but returned to competitive cycling in January 2009 and finished third in the 2009 Tour de France…..
