In our fast paced world it is so common to miss out on the ways to take care of ourselves. In this powerpoint I share some great health truths to help boost your energy and to help creating a healing potential for your body. My group of friends do a monthly class called "Essential Life Classes" as there are just some great essentials in this life that keep us all going and help with being healthy and well:)
5. How much sugar is too much?
Expert panels worldwide have made consistent recommendations on daily sugar intake. The American
Heart Association (AHA) recommends no more than 6 teaspoons (25 grams) of added sugar per day for
women and 9 teaspoons (38 grams) for men. The AHA limits for children vary depending on their age and
caloric needs, but range between 3-6 teaspoons (12 - 25 grams) per day.
That is in line with the World Health Organization's (WHO) recommendation that no more than 10% of an
adult's calories – and ideally less than 5% – should come from added sugar or from natural sugars in
honey, syrups and fruit juice. For a 2,000-calorie diet, 5% would be 25 grams.
Yet, the average American consumes 19.5 teaspoons (82 grams) every day.2 That translates
into about 66 pounds of added sugar consumed each year, per person.

7. Sugar leaves us wanting more
Using brain-scanning technology, scientists at the
U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse were among
the first to show that sugar causes changes in
people's' brains similar to those in people addicted to
drugs such as cocaine and alcohol.
These changes are linked to a heightened craving
for more sugar. This important evidence has set off a
flood of research on the potentially addictive
properties of sugar.
8. Other side effects to sugar & why we can’t get enough
- Eating sugar increases levels of glucose in the bloodstream, which leads the pancreas to release
insulin. Higher levels of insulin, in turn, cause the body to store more food calories as fat.
- Insulin also affects a hormone called leptin, which is our natural appetite suppressant that tells our
brains we are full and can stop eating. Imbalanced insulin levels, along with high consumption of
certain sugars, such as fructose, has been linked to a condition called leptin resistance, in which the
brain no longer "hears" the message to stop eating, thus promoting weight gain and obesity.
- Leptin resistance enabled our ancestors to survive long periods of limited food supply by encouraging
them to overeat during times of plenty and enabling them to conserve more calories as fat. To make
matters worse, people with leptin resistance also tend to feel sluggish, making it difficult to be
active and contributing to further weight gain.

10. What's the answer?
It starts with us and how we
value or see ourselves.
What are our coping skills?
Also, Understanding the Big
Picture and what this means
for generations to come.
Creating awareness, there's
a better way.
Sugar addiction just like
any addiction is 2 fold
typically.
- Emotions or self
soothing can be tied to
it. So many reasons we
turn to things that
temporarily fix our
issues or pain.
- Imbalances chemically.
12. with enough lies, you can silence the greatness
within.
Lie #1: You are not worthy of love.
Lie #2: You are not enough or don't matter.
Lie #3: You do not deserve happiness.
Lie #4: You are not unique or special.
Lie #5: Your dreams are too unrealistic or
impractical, you'll never achieve them.
Lie #6: You won't have enough or be
provided for. Not enough.
Lie #7: You are not worthy of good things
Lie #8: I am a failure.
lies get bigger when
you believe them.
But so does the truth.
13. Your ways to deal with painful lies don't need to be...because Jesus
Christ has already taken the scars, pain and blood on your behalf so that
you don’t have to. Isaiah 53:1-5 describes the pain Jesus had to endure
for you:
“But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
Freedom is not
based on your
circumstances.
Freedom comes from
who you are in Him.
16. Magnificent magnesium -we are all deficient
It’s barely found in the soil – our food doesn’t provide
us with as much magnesium as it used to – our poor
digestion just doesn’t absorb as much nutrition from what
we consume anyway in addition our lifestyles deplete our
magnesium stores VERY quickly...
- with our sugar, caffeine, and alcohol filled diets
- our overuse of antibiotics
- our constant exposure to environmental toxins
- and our overwhelming levels of stress (emotional and
psychological, and physiological from lack of sleep,
overtraining, undernourishment etc.) - Its no wonder!
17. Why is it so magnificent?
It's responsible for OVER 300 different processes in your
body.
Magnesium is the 4th most abundant mineral in ourbody, and
there are more than 3,750 magnesium-binding sites on human
proteins! It affects EVERYTHING.
Every known illness is associated with a magnesium
deficiency and magnesium is the most critical mineral
required for electrical stability of every cell in the body.
A magnesium deficiency may be responsible for more diseases
than any other nutrient.
18. Magnesium benefits
1. Magnesium helps regulate mood and stress. It nourishes the nervous system and is
particularly vital for GABA function – the neurotransmitter that produces “happy
hormones” like serotonin.
2. That same GABA function also helps calm the brain and helps deal with insomnia.
3. High blood pressure, Stroke, and Heart disease – One meta-analysis found that
circulating and dietary magnesium are inversely associated with cardiovascular
disease.
More magnesium = less inflammation
4. Muscle Pain and Migraines – plenty of studies show that magnesium is very useful
in the treatment of migraines. One showed that 360-600mg could reduce the frequency
of migraines by up to 42%.
5. Blood Sugar regulation and Type II Diabetes – Higher magnesium intake reduces
risk of impaired glucose and insulin metabolism and slows progression from
prediabetes to diabetes in middle-aged Americans
