- Learnstreaming involves publishing one's informal learning activities online for personal benefit and to share with others. This is done through maintaining a "learnstream", which is like a river that flows over time, containing both tacit and explicit knowledge.
- By connecting learnstreams, individuals participate in a "learnscape" - a learning ecosystem where people learn and work together. Tools can be used to listen, think, and speak in one's learnstream and the larger learnscape.
- Common tools mentioned for learnstreaming include blogs, microblogs, bookmarks, photos, videos, documents and mind maps to participate in one's own learning and share with others.
