4. Rationale
As the teacher we often
think we have to be
artistic to introduce or
the arts to student;
However, being an
artistic is not a
prerequersite for
teachers who want to
introduce arts to young
children.
Defining “The Arts”
It is necessary to define what
is mean by “the arts” since
more only often than not,
teachers only provide
painting and crafts classes
when trying to accomodate
the arts. There is so much
more to this areas of
learning. Arts Education
includes four distinct
discipline areas, each with a
separate body of knowledge
and skill including : dance,
drama, music and visual arts
(Black,2004).
5. Integrating
“The Arts”
When the arts are
integrated in the early
childhood , childrens are
given opportunites to
express themselves
visually what they may not
be able to say verbally.
Young Children are given
develop independence,
confidence, pride and self
expression through hands
on learning in an
environment that
simulates creativity
through the arts
Modeling and
demonstrating
Providing descriptive
feedback
Methods
Explaining to help
organize children’s
thought
Asking Question to
extend children’s
ideas and
understanding
6. Visual Arts
A teacher can integrate
visual arts with language
arts by giving children a
literature response
activity.
As a teacher plan a theme,
think of art activities
related to the topic of
discussion in class.
Visual arts learners will
surely show progress in
language learning when
presented with artistic or
practical activities to
apply langguage or
knowledge
Example :
“Healthy and Unhealthy
food”
Student can cut examples
of these food and glue
onto a plate. Making
phonics collages from
magazine and newspaper
is also another great
visual art activity
7. Music and Dance
Teacher can integrate
music and dance. Songs
also introduce new
vocabulary or sentence
structure.
As the teacher we should
consider bringing in a
third dimension to this
learning environtment.
Instead of just using
available musical
instrument, student
could make “noisemakers” to use.
Example :
“Twinkle-twinkle little
stars”
For “noise makers”
Dried beans in the bottle.
Empty Big bottle aqua-candrums
etc
8. Drama
It is also easy to
Example :
integrate drama by
“The Ant and the
making animal mask or

puppets and have
children pretend to be
an animal.
But I think it is very

using mix language.
Dramatic play also serves
as a motivator for
learning. Students’
overall understanding
of a story improves
once engaged in the
enactment of the story
9. The Advantages of using
Arts in TEYL:
Providing students with the
opportunity to practice the
arts, have multiple benefits,
some of which are :

understandings

11. Solution
We must be patient to
help students
understanding well.
We need prepare a plan

Cause it can help us to
know what is the next
step should we do
together. So we can
