Part of the elders series, focusing on Psalm 91 and God's promises if we abide in Him. But what does it mean to abide in Him? This sermon discusses our quiet time with God.
5. PSALM 91:1-4
1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most
HighShall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my
fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the
fowler and from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under
His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be
your shield and buckler.
6. PSALM 91:5-8
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of
the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor
of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten
thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come
near you.
8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the
reward of the wicked.
7. PSALM 91:9-12
9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my
refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague
come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To
keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you
dash your foot against a stone.
8. PSALM 91:13-16
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young
lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will
deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known
My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be
with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My
salvation.”
21. PROMISE OF HIS POWER
11 For He shall give His angels charge over
you, to keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you
up,Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

cobra,The young lion and the serpent you
shall trample underfoot.
26. EXODUS 33:9-11
9 And it came to pass, when Moses entered the
tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and
stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord
talked with Moses.
10 All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at
the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and
worshiped, each man in his tent door.
11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a
man speaks to his friend.
39. MATTHEW 6:6
But you, when you pray, go into
your room, and when you have
shut your door, pray to your
Father who is in the secret
place; and your Father who sees
in secret will reward you openly.
40. LUKE 6:12
Now it came to pass in those
days that He went out to the
mountain to pray, and
continued all night in prayer
to God.
41. MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST
(CHAMBERS), SEPTEMBER 16 - PRAYING TO
GOD IN SECRET
“Have no motivation other than
to know your Father in heaven.
It is impossible to carry on your
life as a disciple without
definitive times of secret prayer.”
42. “IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO
CARRY ON YOUR LIFE
AS A DISCIPLE
WITHOUT DEFINITIVE
TIMES OF SECRET
PRAYER.”
43. 1 KINGS 19:11-12
11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the
mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the
Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind
tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in
pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in
the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but
the Lord was not in the earthquake;
12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord
was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small
voice.
46. JOHN 16:7-8
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is
to your advantage that I go away; for if
I do not go away, the Helper will not
come to you; but if I depart, I will send
Him to you.
8 And when He has come, He will
convict the world of sin, and of
righteousness, and of judgment

51. MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST
(CHAMBERS), SEPTEMBER 16 - PRAYING TO
GOD IN SECRET
“God does not hear us because we pray
earnestly - He hears us solely on the basis
of redemption...Prayer is coming into
perfect fellowship and oneness with God. If
the Son of God has been formed in us
through regeneration, then He will continue
to press on beyond our common sense and
will change our attitude about the things for
which we pray.”
53. MATTHEW 5:14-16
14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set
on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a
basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to
all who are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they
may see your good works and glorify your Father
in heaven.
65. 1 JOHN 2:24-25
24 Therefore let that abide in you
which you heard from the beginning. If
what you heard from the beginning
abides in you, you also will abide in
the Son and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that He has
promised us—eternal life.
