Containers on the same docker network can communicate with each other. While outbound traffic from containers has no restrictions, inbound traffic into containers is restricted. This restriction on inbound traffic is important for security, as every network protects itself by controlling incoming traffic. Docker networking also applies this principle of limiting communication between different networks that do not inherently trust each other.
