Descriptive Essay About The Mountains
When the sun slowly peeps over the range of mountains, birds shake the morning dew off their
feathers and give a cheerful song that would lift even the most sorrowful of spirits. A light fog wraps
around the mountain range, reaching to touch every bit of life thriving there. The slight chill in the
air is enough to give a gentle shiver, but not enough for the need of a jacket. A breeze tickles the
trees, making their leaves shake and sway with laughter. Sunlight seeps in past the thick canopy of
branches with hopes of being able to reach the damp mountain earth. The mountains are the best
place to live to be relaxed, see the most beauty, and never get bored.
There is a relaxing feel of the mountains making it perfect for letting the stress disappear and peace
to find its way to one's soul. There are many people who love the mountains and live in them, but
there is so much space that they hardly ever see each other. Less people means that there is less
judgement by them, which means there is more freedom to be the person wanted to be without
worry about that pesky inner critic. For someone who is not very social and has anxiety whenever I
have to talk to another human, the mountains are the perfect place to get away from all of that and
be the most relaxed. I love the homey feel and peaceful atmosphere. There are no noisy neighbors or
loud machines building skyscrapers, there is a quiet chirping bird sitting on the window sill, a soft,
cool breeze rustling the tree leaves,

Native Americans And Native American Nations
Introduction
Native Americans have existed for thousands of years, developing a rich heritage that characterizes
the value of the group. Today it is estimated that there are more than 2.5 million Native Americans
living in the United–States and this population is steadily growing. Although they account for only 1
percent of the total U.S. population, they have been described as including 50 percent of the
diversity that exists in this country. This diversity among Native American nations is illustrated by
250 languages and more than 500 tribes. One of these tribes is called the Cherokee Indians and this
research paper is going to deal with them. Cherokee were probably the most acculturated Indians in
the nineteenth century. They were one of the first Indian groups to successfully transform their
aboriginal landscape into a new cultural landscape that sometimes surpassed their white frontier
neighbors. They had a lots of powerful traditions focusing on the tribe first, the clan second, and the
family third in terms of importance and duty. The family was the centrality of the circle and the
individual was traditionally simply not allowed to upset the order of the family. Traditional beliefs
permit us to think that "being Indians" was obviously not about the blood that flew in their veins,
but how they lived in a cultural and traditional way in respecting the sacredness of the American
way of life.
However, two hundred years ago, the Cherokee Indians were removed from their

Although Blue Ridge Restaurants had success with expansion and joint ventures in Australia, the
UK, France, Italy, Brazil and Hong Kong through 1987, many differing factors were at play when
Yannis Costas evaluated the market and strategy for the Spain in the 1ate 1990s. Factors described
by D. A. Ball, et al, 1, considered relevant in a country screening and assessing market expansion,
especially the xx screen, political and legal and the fourth screen, socio–cultural, were not favorable
for an aggressive expansion in Spain.

Task 2 Memorandum TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: Sales Strategy for the Flavored Coffee
Following the introduction of the new flavored coffee, there is need for coming up with a sales
strategy for increasing the sales of the new product. The strategy gives details on how the product
will reach the customers, and in the end, making them aware of the difference between the new
product–line with the other products from the company. These strategies are necessary for
improving the total company sales, consequently increasing the profitability of the company. The
strategy is also necessary for the coming up with sales activities that position the flavored coffee to a
state where it can gain a competitive advantage in the market. The most appropriate sales strategy of
choice for meeting the sales objective of the company is the triple–tiered sales strategy (Frain,
2009). Justification of the recommendation The strategy is necessary for the establishment of a good
relationship between the wholesale clientele and the company. The association that the regional
sales teams have with the wholesale customers is vital for giving the company the necessary
information regarding the performance of the product. The triple–tiered strategy is necessary for the
identification of the challenges that the competitors are going through, and building on their
weakness to increase the sales volume. An element of a weak competition in consideration involves
brand recognition. Carolina Coffee

American History Reflection
Before I took this class, American History, my childhood was influenced by movies and books about
Cavalry and Indians. My young mind developed a likeness to the Cavalry on horseback. It was
impressive to look at that I wanted to be one of them. Needless to say, I am pro–Cavalry. To me they
represent strength, gallantry, and savior of the oppressed.
The film, Trail of Tears, and the lecture taught me a different side of the US Cavalry. My thought of
them as defender for those who cannot defend themselves became blurry. Maybe, as soldiers, who
sworn an oath to obey the President of the United State, they were following orders. For my
personal reflection, it is unbelievable that American history included "death march" and "ethnic
cleansing." It is difficult to fathom that these events occurred America fought the British and drove
them away. I was assuming that the unification of American citizens would follow the revolutionary
war. But, when the Cherokee Indians were forced to their lands in Georgia and march towards west
of Mississippi, with soldiers and rifles aimed at them, it was a disturbing scenario to me. It was even
called the "death march," perhaps because a quarter of the Cherokee Indians perished during the
march, in which many were elderly and children. The question that came into my mind was, why
did President Andrew Jackson picked the winter months to force the Cherokee Indians to move. He
could easily make it happen, but he did not.
On a personal reflection,

Essay on Blue Ridge Spain
Introduction
Blue Ridge Spain is a joint venture established between an American fast food chain and a Spanish
agricultural firm, Terralumen. Terralumen contributed the most to Delta's success in foreign markets.
After 15 years of a successful joint venture, Costas was shocked to find out that new owner, Delta,
wanted to end the partnership despite of the joint venture's profitability.
Issues and Analysis
Cultural Issues
Cultural differences, as related to doing business, come into play here. Significant cross cultural
conflicts between parents of different nationalities paved the way for the dissolution of the joint
venture between Delta and Terralumen. In a Board of Director's meeting, the American–Spanish
joint venture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also must consider if it is possible to continue without Delta, given that the Blue Ridge name
belongs to Delta. Each of the main players also has choices to make.
Player Perspectives
For Francisco Alvarez, he has always maintained a personal stake in the relationship. He helped
cultivate the joint venture from its inception and must now choose the best direction for his
company. Terralumen's main industry is agriculture, and this venture was a means of experimenting
by taking the business in a new direction. Increased, rapid restaurant expansion would move away
from the key business and is perceived as too risky for a high uncertainty avoidance culture like
Spain's. Terralumen is also family–owned, so it does not have to deal with the pressures of short
term gains that a public company like Delta foods must. Alvarez needs to try to fix the relationship,
but also plan a separation strategy.
For Mikael Södergran, he was hired to apply Delta's strategy and expand the business. Delta's
philosophy has always been against joint ventures, and he was working on dissolving this venture by
any means necessary. Going forward, he must decide the best approach to ending this venture. He
must also be aware of how his actions impact future joint ventures in Spain or elsewhere. Actions
such as not paying their share on a loan in order to default the loan will not be viewed kindly by
other companies. He not only lacks

US History to 1877 Trail of Tears: Rise and Fall of the Cherokee Nation by John Ehle Having little
knowledge of the Cherokee removal and the history that took place in this moment in America's
past, the book Trail of Tears: Rise and Fall of the Cherokee Nation by John Ehle, offers an insight to
the politics, social dynamics and class struggles the Cherokee Nation faced in the late 1830s. The
book was very comprehensive and the scope of the book covers nearly 100 years of Native
American History. Ehle captures the history of the Native American people by showing the readers
what led to the events infamously known as the Trail of Tears. The author uses real military orders,

John Ridge, his father Major Ridge, and his cousin Elias Boudinot were part of the treaty process
that would relocate the Cherokee Nation called, "The Treaty of New Equota". It is evident in the
book that John Ridge was in favor of signing the treaty because he thought that he would be
protecting the rights of the Cherokee people. It becomes clear that the Cherokees are going to be
moving, it was just how they will be moved that made all the difference. The book talks about the
Americans thirst for land and how the gold rush in Georgia would eventually force the Cherokees
out. The story begins with background of John Ridge and how he came to be a factor in the
Cherokee nation. The upbringing of Ridge was an important aspect and where he went to school
also played a role. Ridge's life was assimilated to the white American culture; he even married a
white woman from New England. It's important to know this when you try to understand why he
would sign the treaty. The book focuses on major events happening at the time and how it will affect
the Cherokees and then switches to what will John Ridge do with his own home, like accepting
many white ways, but not accepting Christianity. It also mentions the actions of other nations like
the Creek and Choctaw, and how they reacted to the whites. During the reading, you begin to see
that the Cherokees

Delta's attempted method of dissolution would have ultimately lost because of two factors: 1) lack
of understanding of the Spanish culture and preference, as well as, 2) their lack of restaurant
experience. Further, it would decrease the chances of future successes in Spain since their
dissolution strategy will certainly be known across many industries and political networks. This
would make Delta's ability to establish new contacts, find and purchase property, apply for a food
license, hiring qualified local managers, gaining new customers and opening new stores a difficult
and costly undertaking.
As stated by Costas, Delta has insufficient capital for its planned expansion (BRS p.12) which is
required if it was to venture on its own in Spain. No longer having a partner, Delta would be
required to put up 100% of the costs necessary to expand the business, rather than the 50%
previously required. Without the contacts Terralumen has, these costs would likely rise as well. The
real estate market requires extensive knowledge, and without this knowledge, they will likely pay a
large premium.
Restructuring Management Based on Growth
Delta seems to be following a pure P&G philosophy of employing overseas the same policies and
procedures that work at home (MGE p.345). P&G techniques have historically erred because of a
lack of knowledge in business culture as in the

Cherokee Removal Speech
The Cherokee Indians have lived on the North American continent far longer than anyone of British
decent. Yet they were removed in a brutal manner from their homeland, on which they have lived for
countless centuries. This journey of removal is called the Trail of Tears, which had a horrendous
effect on the Cherokees.
In 1791, the United States began negotiations with the Cherokee nation. However, Americans began
moving onto Cherokee land and forcing them away due to want/need of land for farming and other
purposes. This began a series of events that led to their removal. In 1828 the state of Georgia passed
a law that stated, "as of June 1, 1830 the Cherokee Nation would be null and void, it would no
longer be seen as a nation to the state of Georgia."
During the nineteenth century as many as one hundred thousand Natives were forcefully moved
westward. Those removed came from five different tribes. These were the Cherokee, Chickasaw,
Choctaw, Creek, and the Seminoles who were forced to move during the decade of the Indian
Removal Act of 1830.The tribe that was most affected by this was the Cherokee was a tribe that who
experienced one of the most horrific removals in our nation's history. The Cherokee stated, "The
Cherokee removal was named Nunna dual Tsung (Trail Where They Cried)." Although to us it is
known as the Trail of Tears.
The Cherokees faced the final blow in 1835 when the Treaty of New Echota was passed. This treaty
stated that the Cherokees would receive

Being successful in the food service industry is tough. Most restaurant proprietors think about
expansion when it comes to his or her business. Business owners think and consider that having a
bigger restaurant will procreate them more profits. One the other hand, some business owners view
expansion in an international market as a necessary tool to garner them the profits that he or she
desire. Entering a foreign market is expensive, time–consuming and high–risk, so some restaurant
moguls will enter into joint ventures with other restaurant companies. However, not all joint
ventures are prosperous. In this case, a restaurant corporation entered into a joint venture with
another company and problems occurred that were controllable. In this case analysis, Blue Ridge
Spain, Blue Ridge Restaurants Corporation, an American fast–food company, which is owned by
Delta Foods entered into a joint venture with Terralumen, a Spanish agricultural firm. This joint
venture was the making of Yannis Costas, who is a core manager in this case and who is Greek.
Costas, who is asked to dissolve the joint venture so that the American firm can pursue better
opportunities alone. There are many issues that present problems when it comes to this case analysis
such as how different cultures do business in other countries. The issues with this joint venture
between Blue Ridge, Delta, and Terralumen consist of a handful. One of the issues was a disjointed

Trail of Tears
The authors' name of the book called Trail of Tears: The Rise and Fall of the Cherokee Nation is
John Ehle. Trail of Tears was published in the United States by Anchor Books, a division of random
house, New York and in Canada. This book was published in September 22, 1989. This book has
424 pages.
John Ehle is more than qualified to write on this subject. He has wrote over seventeen books, his
first book was published in 1957 so he has over 30 years of experience to write this book. He has
had two books adapted into a film, The Winter People and The Journey of August King. He has 11

The treaty of New Echota was signed in 1835 (Edmunds 228.)
There are fourteen chapters in Ehle's book. This book is written more like a novel than like
academic history. This book was created in chronological order. The book was told as a story, which
helped keep it interesting. There were maps of the Trail of Tears and charts of the counts of rise and
falls of the Cherokee nation. The maps are very helpful if you don't know exactly where this
happened at. Also it gave you an idea of how many deaths and births happened in that time. I think
that the thesis of this book could be, "When the Cherokee woman lay down to bear a baby, she did
not know that the child she was about to deliver was to be a leader, a chief among his people."
Which is referring to John Ridge, the son of Major Ridge.
The author accomplishes his goal by collecting as much information as he can before he writes. For
instance, Ehle includes a good set of sources, such as letter, journal excerpts, military orders, and so
and so forth. There are a total of 5 pages of sources. The author wasn't overwhelmed with masses of
data; he relied on a logical development of his ideas.
In order for the author to write this book he must have had to do a lot of research before writing. As
stated before, he has a lot of good sources. I thought the book was interesting but I wouldn't
recommend it to someone that has never heard of the Trail of Tears or the Cherokee removal.

The Blue Ridge Mountains Of North Carolina
Vincent Carter 10/4/15 GLY 3311c Homework 2 The Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina is a
diverse geological area to study tectonic setting, metamorphic and igneous rocks, and how the
tectonic history has affected the development of the minerals in the area. The Blue Ridge Mountains
sit within a larger tectonic area that includes part of the smoky mountains and Appalachian mountain
chain. The Blue Ridge Mountains sit upon a large thrust plate area that has experienced repeated
movement in the orogeny process as the Appalachians were built. This process occurred during the
Proterozoic to the Paleozoic period (Tectonic Setting of the Southern Appalachians). Evidence of the
faulting includes sedimentary zones at the end of the thrust. Within the thrust areas is high–grade
metamorphic rocks and some igneous rocks from intrusion during collision events (Hatcher, R).
Evidence of the intrusions are the dikes which can be seen and the large granite facies throughout
the area (Grant, Willard). The age of the thrusts and the areas where they occurred are dated to
varying ages with the oldest tectonic action dated 595 million years ago to the youngest at 265
million years ago (Hatcher, R). The thrust faults in the center of the Blue Ridge area would appear to
have the highest grade of metamorphism while the faults to the edge have the lowest grade
metamorphism or sedimentary features (Hatcher, Robert, and Arthur Merschat.). this is easily seen
because the area where the

The Use Of Automatic Real Time Tracking And Augmented 3d...
The interest to detect and track the endovascular devices during X–ray guided interventional
procedures spans over a decade. The recent developments in real–time detection, tracking,
visualization over an augmented reality with multi modality fusion has transformed the surgical
environment. However, it's quite challenging to combine robustness of automatic real–time tracking
and augmented 3D visualization. In addition, various endovascular procedures use different devices
and tracking requirements (tip or whole catheter).
The important parameters that affect the detection and tracking can be classified in to 3 broad
categories; endovascular devices, projection geometry and motion. At first, the detection of various
shapes and radio–opaque devices is a challenge. Secondly, the detection is challenged by image
magnification and image geometry by various projections (Cranio–caudal tilt). Thirdly, and
importantly real–time tracking challenged by the patient motion and the deformation of the vessel.
Over the years, many of these challenges were addressed with success limited to devices. However,
the potential clinical benefits; to deploy the fenestrated stent grafts accurately without blocking
branches of abdominal Aorta (renal), to reduce contrast medium injected that might reduce the risk
of renal pathologies, to reduce the radiation exposure to the patient, personal and the environmental,

Creative Writing: The Blue Ridge Mountains
Pine needles and underbrush crunched underfoot as I climbed uphill on the mountainside. The forest
canopy acted as a strainer, blocking all but the most lucky rays of sunlight. Sweat rappelled down
my face and jumped off the tip of my nose, falling to the soft earth. My body commanded me to
stop, to rest, to give up. For days I had already hiked and camped among the Blue Ridge Mountains
with no sense of accomplishment, and I hungered for satisfaction. Rain and constant change in
elevation broke my spirit, and encouraged me to go home. I felt as if nature itself taunted me,
pushing me to give up. It became my worst enemy. As my feet began to blister inside my oversized
boots, a meadow appeared within the trees. Grass and bushes filled

Blue Ridge Essay
From the rocky ridges and tumbling falls to the highest peak in Georgia, the Blue Ridge region is
one of the greatest places to build a new theme park. Although many have their doubts about the
Blue Ridge region, especially considering how it doesn't have very many famous attractions, I
assure you that the Blue Ridge is absolutely perfect. So, without further ado, I present to you some
of the many reasons why the Blue Ridge should be highly regarded as a choice of location to build
the new Georgia–themed amusement park. The first reason why the Blue Ridge is a magnificent
place to build this theme park is because it already has a lot of tourism. This means that many
people worldwide already come to the Blue Ridge region often, making it very ... Show more

One reason for this is the many folds in the landscape– almost too many. This would cause
landscapers to survey the land, and it would most likely be expensive to cut a piece of flat land into
the surfaces of the many hills and mountains. The final reason this region isn't an ideal place for an
amusement park is due to its common erosion. If the land beneath the amusement park was
somehow weathered and eroded, it could put people and the economy of Georgia on the line.
Another region relatively close to the Blue Ridge, the Appalachian Plateau, is a very nice place with
the TAG corner and other famous sites, but many reasons would impair the park's success. First of
all, there are many fossils underground, meaning that an amusement park could possibly "erase
history" and prevent certain discoveries from occurring. Most fossils also have a lot of limestone,
meaning that the ground water is slightly acidic. This would make refreshments slightly unhealthy
for the average consumer. Also, with acidic groundwater comes acidic soil, making it bad for crops
and those who ingest

Indian Removal Of The Cherokee Indians
They cried, they wept, they grew stronger. It was a story of hope, courage, and survival. This was
the Trail of Tears. Many events led up to the Cherokee's removal. The Indian Removal caused the
Cherokee indians to move west. A man named Major Ridge struck lots of bargains with the United
States. This man, Major Ridge, was one of the native sons, born in 1771, that lived in the Cherokee
territory. The Cherokee's lived in the Christians Eden because they believe their ancestors once lived
in the same area. Throughout Major Ridge's youth years, the Shawnees, Choctaws, Chickasaws, the
Creeks, and the United States endangered the Cherokees. Mr. Ridge and his family watched his
town get burnt down by riflemen due to picking the wrong side during the American Revolution.
The Cherokees watched their world change all around them. The Cherokee population dwindled to
12,000 in 1805, and lost over half their precious land. The United States wanted the Cherokees land,
and for them to move west. The Americans offered a path for them to walk down. The Americans
developed a policy called civilization which taught the Cherokees how to grow wheat; how to eat
meals at regular set times instead of when ever they pleased, how to dress; how to speak English;
how to pray in church at certain set times. The United States wanted all the tribes to be equivalent of
their white neighbors. Thomas Jefferson states that they could be equal to the whites. John Ross was

Table 2 shows the firm's unit costs for various items. Company management is committed to
adopting advanced manufacturing techniques such as benchmarking and just–in–time (JIT). The
corporate culture necessary for the success of such techniques is evolving and worker empowerment
is already a major program. In addition, workers are allowed several hours away from regular work
assignments each week for training programs conferring on budgets and work improvements and
applying the ABC system.
PERFORMANCE:
The company is profitable. However, management has become concerned about the profitability of
the customers in its three customer–size categories–large, medium and small. Different customers
demand different levels of support. Management has no basis for identifying customers that generate
high profits or to drop those that do not generate enough revenues to cover the expenses to support
them. Under the previous accounting system, it wasn't possible to determine the costs of supporting
individual customers. With the introduction of ABC, it now may be possible to determine customer
profitability. Table 3 shows how the administrative and selling costs are assigned and re–assigned
between various functions within the selling and marketing areas and to sub–activities in the selling
and marketing areas. Table 4 provides a list of

The Great Awakening And Second Great Awakening
Many colonists came to America in order to escape the constraints of the Church of England, but
continued to establish colonies that were built on Biblical principles. Due in part to the strictness
and intolerance of the Puritan religion and differing beliefs among other religions, church
membership began to dwindle and many people in later generations were either excluded from or
decided against, joining the church. The Great Awakening and Second Great Awakening, as
described by Butler, Wacker, and Stout (2003), were religious movements that emphasized Biblical
teachings and the importance of a life changing experience through belief in Jesus Christ as well as
the importance of spreading that message to others. Through large camp meetings like the Cane
Ridge Revival, charismatic preachers brought the good news of salvation through Christ to a
multitude of people, many of whom were disillusioned with the social and political climate of the
times. This message of hope and morality is needed even more so today, in a world filled with
hopelessness, crime, hate and drugs. Of course caution has to be taken to ensure that the
emotionalism of present day religion is based on the model of Jesus, who taught sinners in a spirit of
love, and not in the method of the religious leaders of Biblical times, who were self–righteous and
condemning.

Cherokee Population Losses During Trail Of Tears : A New...
Currently, when the losses suffered by the Cherokee Nation as a result of their forced removal are
discussed, there is a focus on the loss in numbers. However, Russell Thornton's "Cherokee
Population Losses During Trail of Tears: A New Perspective and a New Estimate" clearly presents a
new, suitably researched perspective that argues the focus should not be only on those that died, but
also on those that never lived. Thornton is a professor at UCLA in the Anthropology department. He
has a number of degrees related to this study, including a Ph.D. in Sociology and a postdoctoral in
Social Relations from Harvard, and specializes in Native American studies. He is clearly
appropriately acquainted with this field, and his knowledge of the subject matter is evident in this
piece. However, he also cites a number of papers and books by other authors, so as not to rely purely
on his knowledge. Thornton asserts in his abstract that the number of Cherokees who died may have
been twice the currently accepted number. However, this is not what he says the number of
Cherokees . He argues that the losses of the Cherokee Nation should be determined based upon the
number of Cherokee who would have lived, not the ones who died, a vital distinction when one
considers the drastic reduction in birth rate immediately following removal. However, when reading
this article, one must take into account the potential for bias outside of confidence in one's research.
It is possible that as a Cherokee,

The first time I ventured up to Ravens Roost was the weekend before finals week at Governor's

when my friends suggested we take a trip up on the mountain. We were not sure where we would

overlooks before reaching Ravens Roost. As we parked at Ravens Roost the sun was just starting to
set, casting its shadow over the mountain. We wrapped up in blankets and sat on the rock retaining
wall, taking in the beauty before us. For whatever reason, the sunset that night was particularly
sunning. As the blazing light from the day was receding it was turning the air around the sun lovely
shades of pink, orange, and violet. As we took in the landscape before us I started pointing out the
landmarks we could make out down in the valley. The buildings of Hollister Inc. and Hershey stood

Due to a number of different factors, the population of Harrisonburg–Rockingham County has

development, the rise in population has been accompanied by a rise in the community crime rate. As

Descriptive Essay On The Blue Ridge Mountains
It was finally time to take off. I had anticipated this trip south for several weeks. Now the last item
was packed in the RV and we were ready to hit the road. One of the things I enjoy most is getting off
the beaten path and traveling the backroads. And, we were going to be able to do that on most of this
trip. Part of the advantages of traveling the backroads is being able to take in some fantastic views
of this country's landscape, slowing down our pace enough to enjoy all the "simple pleasures" along
the way, and specifically on this trip, enjoying that native "southern" hospitality.
No matter how many times I see them, my heart always perks up when I first see those Blue Ridge
mountains. And, it is always an inspirational sight to behold when you see that mist rising in the
Smoky Mountains. However, I am just as awe struck by the magnificent views as you wind through
the Nantahala in North Carolina. Beautiful rapids and waterfalls are throughout this National Forest
also. It is spectacular!
As we made our way further south, crossing over in to Georgia, we were greeted by droves of cars
parked along the sides of the roads. People were enjoying the simple pleasure of whitewater rafting.
However, when you are the one pulling a 35 ft RV maneuvering through those hair pin turns, trying
to avoid the cars on both sides of the road, it doesn't seem like a pleasure; at least for the moment.
Then, in the middle of dodging the cars on the side of the road, a van stopped right in front of us. No
kidding, the van stopped in the middle of the lane on a blind curve to let their little boy go to the
bathroom. However, as you can well image, there are no bathrooms! Seriously, traffic came to a
complete halt in the Chattahoochee River National Park. We had to shake our head and laugh at that
one, thankful that no one got hurt! It is at times like this you have to laugh and say, traveling the
backroads is also an adventure!
After that it was smooth sailing. We finished out the last part of our trip driving through a beautiful
little college town. The picturesque setting of "Young Harris" is what I love about traveling the
backroads. It takes longer but you gain a glimpse of small town living. And then we pulled into

was upset when Södergran pushed to get through with the growth objectives on his first meeting. I

two following alternatives for Södergran:
– buy Terralumen out and take over control to grow – Costas would not support this, problem of the

Reasons for the first choice include the responsibility for him to meet the objectives, but there might
be a high price because of the growth potential of the JV, but controlling it is worth it from
Södergran's point of view. The problem might be the realization of this divorce. The best deal for

Blue Ridge Manufacturing Case Summary
The firm was considering devoting a greater share of the production resources to the sports line.
What do your results in part two imply about the product line's continued success, and whether the
firm should devote more resources to that line? You should consider and answer the following
questions:
Should the sports line be dropped?
Blue Ridge Manufacturing should drop the sports line because it's operating at net loss of $247,127.
The sports line should consider increasing price while maintaining current market shares in order to
continue operations. Also, indirect cost is high for sports line compared to designer and children's
line hence firm should consider cost reduction items as outlined below.
Can you determine why market share (sales) for the sports line was increasing?
I can't determine why the sales for sports line was increasing. In order to determine the reason I
would like to review previous year income statement for comparison. Also, it would be helpful to
have activities based cost information from previous year for comparison.

items the firm should consider are Designer's Pay, number of unique items, and number of material

What are the benefits of an ABC allocation of indirect costs that a single, volume–based allocation

Activity–based costing is more accurate because it takes important factors into account before
assigning a cost to a product. It's also more thorough and considers nonmanufacturing expenses as
well, such as administrative and managerial costs. The ABC method is accurate, however it's

COLD MOUNTAIN
The story of "Cold Mountain" is a best selling novel and it is the first
book written by Charles Frazier. It took years of research before he could

The plot of Cold Mountain is really and old idea, in fact it is an ancient one. The plot is the same as
the one in an ancient book by Homer.
The story I am referring to is "The Odyssey". The Odyssey is a book
about a wounded soldier trying to find his way back home and his
sweetheart, Penelope that is waiting for his return. Cold Mountain is the
story of a wounded Confederate soldier that was wounded, deserts, and

The second part of the plot in this story is about Inman's sweetheart,
Ada. Ada has a much different odyssey than Inman, but just as perilous.
She is learning about herself, friendship, and survival.
In the beginning, Ada is trying to cope with the death of her father. Her
father, a preacher, bought her to the mountains and kept her sheltered from
the ways of the world. While he tried to give her a good life, he never
prepared he for the real world, as you will see later.
Ada was raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She was raised in an
aristocratic society where work was never experienced and money took
care of everything. Ada had no idea how to live from day to day on a farm.
Which is where she was stranded after her father died. During the war, all
the able bodied men were gone to fight and her hired help had moved away
months earlier. To make matters worse, she discovers that her father's
death had left her penniless.
Ada's desperation all changed when she takes Ruby into her home.
Ruby is a young but wise country girl that has had to rely on her own
abilities to get by for most of her life. Ruby is pretty much Ada's savior at
this point. Ruby teaches her all about running a farm, preparing food, and
how to take care of herself without depending on money.

Descriptive Essay About The Mountains

  • 1. Descriptive Essay About The Mountains When the sun slowly peeps over the range of mountains, birds shake the morning dew off their feathers and give a cheerful song that would lift even the most sorrowful of spirits. A light fog wraps around the mountain range, reaching to touch every bit of life thriving there. The slight chill in the air is enough to give a gentle shiver, but not enough for the need of a jacket. A breeze tickles the trees, making their leaves shake and sway with laughter. Sunlight seeps in past the thick canopy of branches with hopes of being able to reach the damp mountain earth. The mountains are the best place to live to be relaxed, see the most beauty, and never get bored. There is a relaxing feel of the mountains making it perfect for letting the stress disappear and peace to find its way to one's soul. There are many people who love the mountains and live in them, but there is so much space that they hardly ever see each other. Less people means that there is less judgement by them, which means there is more freedom to be the person wanted to be without worry about that pesky inner critic. For someone who is not very social and has anxiety whenever I have to talk to another human, the mountains are the perfect place to get away from all of that and be the most relaxed. I love the homey feel and peaceful atmosphere. There are no noisy neighbors or loud machines building skyscrapers, there is a quiet chirping bird sitting on the window sill, a soft, cool breeze rustling the tree leaves, ... • 3. Native Americans And Native American Nations Introduction Native Americans have existed for thousands of years, developing a rich heritage that characterizes the value of the group. Today it is estimated that there are more than 2.5 million Native Americans living in the United–States and this population is steadily growing. Although they account for only 1 percent of the total U.S. population, they have been described as including 50 percent of the diversity that exists in this country. This diversity among Native American nations is illustrated by 250 languages and more than 500 tribes. One of these tribes is called the Cherokee Indians and this research paper is going to deal with them. Cherokee were probably the most acculturated Indians in the nineteenth century. They were one of the first Indian groups to successfully transform their aboriginal landscape into a new cultural landscape that sometimes surpassed their white frontier neighbors. They had a lots of powerful traditions focusing on the tribe first, the clan second, and the family third in terms of importance and duty. The family was the centrality of the circle and the individual was traditionally simply not allowed to upset the order of the family. Traditional beliefs permit us to think that "being Indians" was obviously not about the blood that flew in their veins, but how they lived in a cultural and traditional way in respecting the sacredness of the American way of life. However, two hundred years ago, the Cherokee Indians were removed from their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay on Creative Writing: Dragon's Throttle * * * * Dialing the number on speaker phone, what have I gotten myself into? I thought, and on the second ring, "Hello, may I speak to Bradley Callahan?" "This is Bradley. How can I help you, ma'am." "I am calling from Wood Works Wonder. This is Clareese Alana." "Yes, Miss Alana. I've been waiting for your call." Bradley sounded like he was waiting for something all right. With a sexy, almost familiar voice, and forgetting for a split second, this was a business call, and I said, "Mr. Callahan–" "Miss Alana, call me Bradley." "Okay, Bradley, if you call me Clareese." "Deal," he said. "Bradley, as you must have heard, our product presenter will be replaced by me." "Miss Clareese, nice... sounds great. I mean – who better than you, ma'am, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Ma'am, I will be picking you up in my pick–up. Plenty of room there." "A pick–up? Sir, in the south? What a shocker," I said with a light chuckle. Oh shit! I haven't met this man and I'm jokingly labeling... oh dear! "I was warned about you city... people," he laughed. "I like your sense of humor, Miss Clareese." "Well... let me have a minute to think about this. I don't want to burden you. Besides, our company would furnish my hotel stay and flight." "Say no more. My father and I would be honored to have you there, and the cabins are well–equipped with amenities." Perhaps I sounded a tad rude, and he seemed rather polite. Maybe accepting his plan would have Saturday's Expo run smoothly, and I would not disappoint. "I'm grateful and will accept the Callahan offer." "I will pick you up, early tomorrow, Friday. Text me with the flight information. I've sent you an email with my cell number." "Tomorrow? I was planning to get in on Saturday morning." "Tomorrow early, Miss Clareese. Here down yonder," he snickered, "life is reflective, and we folks don't live by the New York minute." "Bradley, I'm from Connecticut," I said wryly, yet knowing I deserved his jab from my earlier profile comment. "I've had a great opportunity to have visited both, city to city and forty lightning minutes apart. Clareese, it's best if you are well rested and settled in for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(like Todd did) Although Blue Ridge Restaurants had success with expansion and joint ventures in Australia, the UK, France, Italy, Brazil and Hong Kong through 1987, many differing factors were at play when Yannis Costas evaluated the market and strategy for the Spain in the 1ate 1990s. Factors described by D. A. Ball, et al, 1, considered relevant in a country screening and assessing market expansion, especially the xx screen, political and legal and the fourth screen, socio–cultural, were not favorable for an aggressive expansion in Spain. The key issues in the Delta Foods expansion in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Geoff who had no overseas experience was transferred from US Delta snack food division to Europe had secretly made suggestion to let Terralumen default on its debt so that they can force a buyout. Geoff and Delta did not act ethically by pursuing this strategy which showed ethical imperialism of individual and the company which allowed it to happen; one should not act differently when away from home. People's perception would be affected if they knew that Delta had intensionally let the other could have financial implication In addition, another unethical moment came from Bill Sawyer when he deceived Costas by suggesting that the company will be hiring someone with experience but in turn they hired someone with very little experience compared to Costas's. "The core values establish a moral compass for business practice..."1 honesty and integrity is a universal practice and by Bill's actions and company's tolerance of it, it represented low level of ethical standard for himself and the company that did not allow full disclosure in hiring process. Also Terralumen had decided to give power of attorney to one individual who can make a decision that will impact the entire joint venture existence; this decision represent unethical practice for the company. • 9. Blue Ridge Coffee Case Study Task 2 Memorandum TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: Sales Strategy for the Flavored Coffee Following the introduction of the new flavored coffee, there is need for coming up with a sales strategy for increasing the sales of the new product. The strategy gives details on how the product will reach the customers, and in the end, making them aware of the difference between the new product–line with the other products from the company. These strategies are necessary for improving the total company sales, consequently increasing the profitability of the company. The strategy is also necessary for the coming up with sales activities that position the flavored coffee to a state where it can gain a competitive advantage in the market. The most appropriate sales strategy of choice for meeting the sales objective of the company is the triple–tiered sales strategy (Frain, 2009). Justification of the recommendation The strategy is necessary for the establishment of a good relationship between the wholesale clientele and the company. The association that the regional sales teams have with the wholesale customers is vital for giving the company the necessary information regarding the performance of the product. The triple–tiered strategy is necessary for the identification of the challenges that the competitors are going through, and building on their weakness to increase the sales volume. An element of a weak competition in consideration involves brand recognition. Carolina Coffee ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. American History Reflection Before I took this class, American History, my childhood was influenced by movies and books about Cavalry and Indians. My young mind developed a likeness to the Cavalry on horseback. It was impressive to look at that I wanted to be one of them. Needless to say, I am pro–Cavalry. To me they represent strength, gallantry, and savior of the oppressed. The film, Trail of Tears, and the lecture taught me a different side of the US Cavalry. My thought of them as defender for those who cannot defend themselves became blurry. Maybe, as soldiers, who sworn an oath to obey the President of the United State, they were following orders. For my personal reflection, it is unbelievable that American history included "death march" and "ethnic cleansing." It is difficult to fathom that these events occurred America fought the British and drove them away. I was assuming that the unification of American citizens would follow the revolutionary war. But, when the Cherokee Indians were forced to their lands in Georgia and march towards west of Mississippi, with soldiers and rifles aimed at them, it was a disturbing scenario to me. It was even called the "death march," perhaps because a quarter of the Cherokee Indians perished during the march, in which many were elderly and children. The question that came into my mind was, why did President Andrew Jackson picked the winter months to force the Cherokee Indians to move. He could easily make it happen, but he did not. On a personal reflection, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Essay on Blue Ridge Spain Introduction Blue Ridge Spain is a joint venture established between an American fast food chain and a Spanish agricultural firm, Terralumen. Terralumen contributed the most to Delta's success in foreign markets. After 15 years of a successful joint venture, Costas was shocked to find out that new owner, Delta, wanted to end the partnership despite of the joint venture's profitability. Issues and Analysis Cultural Issues Cultural differences, as related to doing business, come into play here. Significant cross cultural conflicts between parents of different nationalities paved the way for the dissolution of the joint venture between Delta and Terralumen. They also must consider if it is possible to continue without Delta, given that the Blue Ridge name belongs to Delta. Each of the main players also has choices to make. Player Perspectives For Francisco Alvarez, he has always maintained a personal stake in the relationship. He helped cultivate the joint venture from its inception and must now choose the best direction for his company. Terralumen's main industry is agriculture, and this venture was a means of experimenting by taking the business in a new direction. Increased, rapid restaurant expansion would move away from the key business and is perceived as too risky for a high uncertainty avoidance culture like Spain's. Terralumen is also family–owned, so it does not have to deal with the pressures of short term gains that a public company like Delta foods must. Alvarez needs to try to fix the relationship, but also plan a separation strategy. For Mikael Södergran, he was hired to apply Delta's strategy and expand the business. Delta's philosophy has always been against joint ventures, and he was working on dissolving this venture by any means necessary. Going forward, he must decide the best approach to ending this venture. He must also be aware of how his actions impact future joint ventures in Spain or elsewhere. Actions such as not paying their share on a loan in order to default the loan will not be viewed kindly by other companies. He not only lacks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

US History to 1877 Trail of Tears: Rise and Fall of the Cherokee Nation by John Ehle Having little knowledge of the Cherokee removal and the history that took place in this moment in America's past, the book Trail of Tears: Rise and Fall of the Cherokee Nation by John Ehle, offers an insight to the politics, social dynamics and class struggles the Cherokee Nation faced in the late 1830s. The book was very comprehensive and the scope of the book covers nearly 100 years of Native American History. It is evident in the book that John Ridge was in favor of signing the treaty because he thought that he would be protecting the rights of the Cherokee people. It becomes clear that the Cherokees are going to be moving, it was just how they will be moved that made all the difference. The book talks about the Americans thirst for land and how the gold rush in Georgia would eventually force the Cherokees out. The story begins with background of John Ridge and how he came to be a factor in the Cherokee nation. The upbringing of Ridge was an important aspect and where he went to school also played a role. Ridge's life was assimilated to the white American culture; he even married a white woman from New England. It's important to know this when you try to understand why he would sign the treaty. The book focuses on major events happening at the time and how it will affect the Cherokees and then switches to what will John Ridge do with his own home, like accepting many white ways, but not accepting Christianity. It also mentions the actions of other nations like the Creek and Choctaw, and how they reacted to the whites. During the reading, you begin to see that the Cherokees ... Delta's attempted method of dissolution would have ultimately lost because of two factors: 1) lack of understanding of the Spanish culture and preference, as well as, 2) their lack of restaurant experience. Further, it would decrease the chances of future successes in Spain since their dissolution strategy will certainly be known across many industries and political networks. This would make Delta's ability to establish new contacts, find and purchase property, apply for a food license, hiring qualified local managers, gaining new customers and opening new stores a difficult and costly undertaking. As stated by Costas, Delta has insufficient capital for its planned expansion (BRS p.12) which is required if it was to venture on its own in Spain. • 20. Cherokee Removal Speech The Cherokee Indians have lived on the North American continent far longer than anyone of British decent. Yet they were removed in a brutal manner from their homeland, on which they have lived for countless centuries. This journey of removal is called the Trail of Tears, which had a horrendous effect on the Cherokees. In 1791, the United States began negotiations with the Cherokee nation. However, Americans began moving onto Cherokee land and forcing them away due to want/need of land for farming and other purposes. This began a series of events that led to their removal. In 1828 the state of Georgia passed a law that stated, "as of June 1, 1830 the Cherokee Nation would be null and void, it would no longer be seen as a nation to the state of Georgia." During the nineteenth century as many as one hundred thousand Natives were forcefully moved westward. Those removed came from five different tribes. These were the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and the Seminoles who were forced to move during the decade of the Indian Removal Act of 1830.The tribe that was most affected by this was the Cherokee was a tribe that who experienced one of the most horrific removals in our nation's history. The Cherokee stated, "The Cherokee removal was named Nunna dual Tsung (Trail Where They Cried)." Although to us it is known as the Trail of Tears. • 22. Case Study : Blue Ridge Spain Blue Ridge Spain Being successful in the food service industry is tough. Most restaurant proprietors think about expansion when it comes to his or her business. Business owners think and consider that having a bigger restaurant will procreate them more profits. One the other hand, some business owners view expansion in an international market as a necessary tool to garner them the profits that he or she desire. Entering a foreign market is expensive, time–consuming and high–risk, so some restaurant moguls will enter into joint ventures with other restaurant companies. However, not all joint ventures are prosperous. In this case, a restaurant corporation entered into a joint venture with another company and problems occurred that were controllable. In this case analysis, Blue Ridge Spain, Blue Ridge Restaurants Corporation, an American fast–food company, which is owned by Delta Foods entered into a joint venture with Terralumen, a Spanish agricultural firm. This joint venture was the making of Yannis Costas, who is a core manager in this case and who is Greek. Costas, who is asked to dissolve the joint venture so that the American firm can pursue better opportunities alone. INED 411 Book Review Trail of Tears The authors' name of the book called Trail of Tears: The Rise and Fall of the Cherokee Nation is John Ehle. Trail of Tears was published in the United States by Anchor Books, a division of random house, New York and in Canada. This book was published in September 22, 1989. This book has 424 pages. John Ehle is more than qualified to write on this subject. He has wrote over seventeen books, his first book was published in 1957 so he has over 30 years of experience to write this book. The treaty of New Echota was signed in 1835 (Edmunds 228.) There are fourteen chapters in Ehle's book. This book is written more like a novel than like academic history. This book was created in chronological order. The book was told as a story, which helped keep it interesting. There were maps of the Trail of Tears and charts of the counts of rise and falls of the Cherokee nation. The maps are very helpful if you don't know exactly where this happened at. Also it gave you an idea of how many deaths and births happened in that time. I think that the thesis of this book could be, "When the Cherokee woman lay down to bear a baby, she did not know that the child she was about to deliver was to be a leader, a chief among his people." Which is referring to John Ridge, the son of Major Ridge. The author accomplishes his goal by collecting as much information as he can before he writes. For instance, Ehle includes a good set of sources, such as letter, journal excerpts, military orders, and so and so forth. There are a total of 5 pages of sources. The author wasn't overwhelmed with masses of data; he relied on a logical development of his ideas. In order for the author to write this book he must have had to do a lot of research before writing. As stated before, he has a lot of good sources. I thought the book was interesting but I wouldn't recommend it to someone that has never heard of the Trail of Tears or the Cherokee removal. ... The Blue Ridge Mountains Of North Carolina Vincent Carter 10/4/15 GLY 3311c Homework 2 The Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina is a diverse geological area to study tectonic setting, metamorphic and igneous rocks, and how the tectonic history has affected the development of the minerals in the area. The Blue Ridge Mountains sit within a larger tectonic area that includes part of the smoky mountains and Appalachian mountain chain. The Blue Ridge Mountains sit upon a large thrust plate area that has experienced repeated movement in the orogeny process as the Appalachians were built. This process occurred during the Proterozoic to the Paleozoic period (Tectonic Setting of the Southern Appalachians). Evidence of the faulting includes sedimentary zones at the end of the thrust. Within the thrust areas is high–grade metamorphic rocks and some igneous rocks from intrusion during collision events (Hatcher, R). Evidence of the intrusions are the dikes which can be seen and the large granite facies throughout the area (Grant, Willard). The age of the thrusts and the areas where they occurred are dated to varying ages with the oldest tectonic action dated 595 million years ago to the youngest at 265 million years ago (Hatcher, R). The thrust faults in the center of the Blue Ridge area would appear to have the highest grade of metamorphism while the faults to the edge have the lowest grade metamorphism or sedimentary features (Hatcher, Robert, and Arthur Merschat.). this is easily seen because the area where the ... The recent developments in real–time detection, tracking, visualization over an augmented reality with multi modality fusion has transformed the surgical environment. However, it's quite challenging to combine robustness of automatic real–time tracking and augmented 3D visualization. In addition, various endovascular procedures use different devices and tracking requirements (tip or whole catheter). The important parameters that affect the detection and tracking can be classified in to 3 broad categories; endovascular devices, projection geometry and motion. At first, the detection of various shapes and radio–opaque devices is a challenge. Secondly, the detection is challenged by image magnification and image geometry by various projections (Cranio–caudal tilt). Thirdly, and importantly real–time tracking challenged by the patient motion and the deformation of the vessel. Over the years, many of these challenges were addressed with success limited to devices. However, the potential clinical benefits; to deploy the fenestrated stent grafts accurately without blocking branches of abdominal Aorta (renal), to reduce contrast medium injected that might reduce the risk of renal pathologies, to reduce the radiation exposure to the patient, personal and the environmental, sustains the research interest. Although many have their doubts about the Blue Ridge region, especially considering how it doesn't have very many famous attractions, I assure you that the Blue Ridge is absolutely perfect. So, without further ado, I present to you some of the many reasons why the Blue Ridge should be highly regarded as a choice of location to build the new Georgia–themed amusement park. The first reason why the Blue Ridge is a magnificent place to build this theme park is because it already has a lot of tourism. One reason for this is the many folds in the landscape– almost too many. This would cause landscapers to survey the land, and it would most likely be expensive to cut a piece of flat land into the surfaces of the many hills and mountains. The final reason this region isn't an ideal place for an amusement park is due to its common erosion. If the land beneath the amusement park was somehow weathered and eroded, it could put people and the economy of Georgia on the line. Another region relatively close to the Blue Ridge, the Appalachian Plateau, is a very nice place with the TAG corner and other famous sites, but many reasons would impair the park's success. First of all, there are many fossils underground, meaning that an amusement park could possibly "erase history" and prevent certain discoveries from occurring. Many events led up to the Cherokee's removal. The Indian Removal caused the Cherokee indians to move west. A man named Major Ridge struck lots of bargains with the United States. This man, Major Ridge, was one of the native sons, born in 1771, that lived in the Cherokee territory. The Cherokee's lived in the Christians Eden because they believe their ancestors once lived in the same area. Throughout Major Ridge's youth years, the Shawnees, Choctaws, Chickasaws, the Creeks, and the United States endangered the Cherokees. Mr. Ridge and his family watched his town get burnt down by riflemen due to picking the wrong side during the American Revolution. The Cherokees watched their world change all around them. The Cherokee population dwindled to 12,000 in 1805, and lost over half their precious land. The United States wanted the Cherokees land, and for them to move west. The Americans offered a path for them to walk down. The Americans developed a policy called civilization which taught the Cherokees how to grow wheat; how to eat meals at regular set times instead of when ever they pleased, how to dress; how to speak English; how to pray in church at certain set times. Due in part to the strictness and intolerance of the Puritan religion and differing beliefs among other religions, church membership began to dwindle and many people in later generations were either excluded from or decided against, joining the church. The Great Awakening and Second Great Awakening, as described by Butler, Wacker, and Stout (2003), were religious movements that emphasized Biblical teachings and the importance of a life changing experience through belief in Jesus Christ as well as the importance of spreading that message to others. Through large camp meetings like the Cane Ridge Revival, charismatic preachers brought the good news of salvation through Christ to a multitude of people, many of whom were disillusioned with the social and political climate of the times. This message of hope and morality is needed even more so today, in a world filled with hopelessness, crime, hate and drugs. Of course caution has to be taken to ensure that the emotionalism of present day religion is based on the model of Jesus, who taught sinners in a spirit of love, and not in the method of the religious leaders of Biblical times, who were self–righteous and condemning. Revivals in America, known as the Great Awakening and Second Great Awakening, began with George Whitefield in the 1730's and continued on and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. Cherokee Population Losses During Trail Of Tears : A New... Currently, when the losses suffered by the Cherokee Nation as a result of their forced removal are discussed, there is a focus on the loss in numbers. However, Russell Thornton's "Cherokee Population Losses During Trail of Tears: A New Perspective and a New Estimate" clearly presents a new, suitably researched perspective that argues the focus should not be only on those that died, but also on those that never lived. Thornton is a professor at UCLA in the Anthropology department. He has a number of degrees related to this study, including a Ph.D. in Sociology and a postdoctoral in Social Relations from Harvard, and specializes in Native American studies. He is clearly appropriately acquainted with this field, and his knowledge of the subject matter is evident in this piece. However, he also cites a number of papers and books by other authors, so as not to rely purely on his knowledge. Thornton asserts in his abstract that the number of Cherokees who died may have been twice the currently accepted number. However, this is not what he says the number of Cherokees . He argues that the losses of the Cherokee Nation should be determined based upon the number of Cherokee who would have lived, not the ones who died, a vital distinction when one considers the drastic reduction in birth rate immediately following removal. However, when reading this article, one must take into account the potential for bias outside of confidence in one's research. It is possible that as a Cherokee, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 63. Descriptive Essay On Ravens Roost At 37.9337° N, 78.9529° W elevation 3200 feet or mile 10.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway lies one of the most spectacularly beautiful overlooks in the area. Looking to the right Ravens Roost overlooks the Shenandoah Valley, the most distinguishable areas being Stuarts Draft. To the left the you can see the George Washington National Forest, and Torrey Ridge in the distance. Ravens Roost holds a significant place in my heart, soul, and brain and continues to amaze me with its beauty time after time. The first time I ventured up to Ravens Roost was the weekend before finals week at Governor's school in late April. I was stressing out over all of the things I had going on in the coming days when my friends suggested we take a trip up on the mountain. We were not sure where we would end up. We were searching for a perfect spot to watch the sunset and stopped at three or four other overlooks before reaching Ravens Roost. As we parked at Ravens Roost the sun was just starting to set, casting its shadow over the mountain. We wrapped up in blankets and sat on the rock retaining wall, taking in the beauty before us. For whatever reason, the sunset that night was particularly sunning. As the blazing light from the day was receding it was turning the air around the sun lovely shades of pink, orange, and violet. As we took in the landscape before us I started pointing out the landmarks we could make out down in the valley. The buildings of Hollister Inc. and Hershey stood out from the ... • 65. Blue Ridge Poem When I came out to my mother, I did it by accident. Drowsy and slipping through striped–yellow hours, dull drum of wheels on Ohio snow, I realized: something had disappeared. Not the charm of floral button–downs locked inside the trunk. Skin–tight jeans still stuffed beneath the seat. No. The poem: my attempt to breathe life into the Syrian man thrown from a building, met by stone–carrying children who were brought by their fathers to teach them what not to be. This poem, this confession (I'm not unlike that nameless man), I'd forgotten it in the printer back home, ink face–up, as though I wanted it there. Blue Ridge, Georgia, my hometown, is a place you know. An Appalachian village born in bootlegging and butter, mountains and grits. In the version you've heard, children sport sixth fingers. The concern after divorces is whether the exes remain siblings. These, of course, are stereotypes. But here's a fact: when taught evolution, I learned it as an idea to be argued against. When I told my father I wanted to be a writer, he heard fighter and said, "Son, you don't have the chops for that life." I passed by keeping quiet. What I needed to learn, the internet ... Nevertheless, my scientific background has left me like a surgeon with dexterous hands but no training–with every poem, I stumble blindly to the operating table. Just as I've regretted touching down in a country without knowing its language, I need academic training to do my art justice. MFAs take one graduate–level English course, and in that single semester, examination of the canon expanded my notion of what poetry can do, shifting my attention from single–image poems to ambitious works that centrifuged in a common vial my Southern identity and the persecution of gays abroad. • 67. The Blue Ridge Mountains And Allegheny Mountains N estled between the Blue Ridge Mountains and Allegheny Mountains, Rockingham County is located within the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Originally founded in 1778, Rockingham County has become a historical community committed to implementing an economic strategy of attracting new business and industry that are compatible with the way of life in the Shenandoah Valley and assisting in the retention and expansion of existing companies (Rockingham County). Most commonly known for its beauty, Rockingham County is comprised of six metropolitan cities, of which Harrisonburg holds the county seat (Rockingham County). Harrisonburg, VA is an independent city fully located within the borders of Rockingham County. Founded in 1779, Harrisonburg has prided itself on its beauty as well as its politeness. Nicknamed as "the friendly city", Harrisonburg is commonly known for its developing downtown district, James Madison University and Eastern Mennonite University (About Harrisonburg, 2014). Due to a number of different factors, the population of Harrisonburg–Rockingham County has steadily increased since the 2010 Census (QuickFacts, 2010). Although beneficial for economic development, the rise in population has been accompanied by a rise in the community crime rate. As a result, the Rockingham–Harrisonburg Regional Jail is currently extensively overcrowded and has been for some time. Initially constructed in 1994 for a population of 208 inmates, data shows that the inmate population ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Descriptive Essay On The Blue Ridge Mountains It was finally time to take off. I had anticipated this trip south for several weeks. Now the last item was packed in the RV and we were ready to hit the road. One of the things I enjoy most is getting off the beaten path and traveling the backroads. And, we were going to be able to do that on most of this trip. Part of the advantages of traveling the backroads is being able to take in some fantastic views of this country's landscape, slowing down our pace enough to enjoy all the "simple pleasures" along the way, and specifically on this trip, enjoying that native "southern" hospitality. No matter how many times I see them, my heart always perks up when I first see those Blue Ridge mountains. And, it is always an inspirational sight to behold when you see that mist rising in the Smoky Mountains. However, I am just as awe struck by the magnificent views as you wind through the Nantahala in North Carolina. Beautiful rapids and waterfalls are throughout this National Forest also. It is spectacular! As we made our way further south, crossing over in to Georgia, we were greeted by droves of cars parked along the sides of the roads. People were enjoying the simple pleasure of whitewater rafting. However, when you are the one pulling a 35 ft RV maneuvering through those hair pin turns, trying to avoid the cars on both sides of the road, it doesn't seem like a pleasure; at least for the moment. Then, in the middle of dodging the cars on the side of the road, a van stopped right in front of us. No kidding, the van stopped in the middle of the lane on a blind curve to let their little boy go to the bathroom. However, as you can well image, there are no bathrooms! Seriously, traffic came to a complete halt in the Chattahoochee River National Park. We had to shake our head and laugh at that one, thankful that no one got hurt! It is at times like this you have to laugh and say, traveling the backroads is also an adventure! After that it was smooth sailing. We finished out the last part of our trip driving through a beautiful little college town. The picturesque setting of "Young Harris" is what I love about traveling the backroads. It takes longer but you gain a glimpse of small town living. And then we pulled into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Essay about Blue Ridge Spain Case Study Blue Ridge Spain This case is about a joint venture between the American company Blue Ridge which is owned by Delta Foods and the Spanish company Terralumen in Spain. Problems arose because of disagreement concerning the future growth rates set by Delta which are considered as unrealistic by Terralumen. Mikael Södergran is the young VP of Europe for Blue Ridge and wants to see the joint venture perform in the short run as this is the task he was given by Delta. He is very direct, getting to the business part immediately and fits into the American expectations of making business– quick, efficient, delivering performance. He employed Eduardo Rodrigo as the Joint venture's managing director who was opposing the growth credo so much that he was soon replaced. Alvarez supported this idea and I think that he would support the growth strategy if he didn't have such a strong opposition to the topic from his supervisor. I think that he will join the side of his supervisor during the discussion. Alvarez' boss was upset when Södergran pushed to get through with the growth objectives on his first meeting. I think that Alvarez is a good friend of Costas whom he sees as reliable business partner. There are two following alternatives for Södergran: – buy Terralumen out and take over control to grow – Costas would not support this, problem of the key managers to be replaced, bound to contract for another year (Exhibit 5). – allow Terralumen to run the Spanish operation for a limited time to concentrate on new markets – could work, Costa's support, possible opposition from Delta, later on increase pressure on joint venture. Reasons for the first choice include the responsibility for him to meet the objectives, but there might be a high price because of the growth potential of the JV, but controlling it is worth it from Södergran's point of view. The problem might be the realization of this divorce. The best deal for Delta can be achieved through a good price for the Spaniards. The key managers can be replaced by ... • 75. Blue Ridge Manufacturing Case Summary The firm was considering devoting a greater share of the production resources to the sports line. What do your results in part two imply about the product line's continued success, and whether the firm should devote more resources to that line? You should consider and answer the following questions: Should the sports line be dropped? Blue Ridge Manufacturing should drop the sports line because it's operating at net loss of $247,127. The sports line should consider increasing price while maintaining current market shares in order to continue operations. Also, indirect cost is high for sports line compared to designer and children's line hence firm should consider cost reduction items as outlined below. Can you determine why market share (sales) for the sports line was increasing? I can't determine why the sales for sports line was increasing. What are the benefits of an ABC allocation of indirect costs that a single, volume–based allocation cannot provide? Activity–based costing is more accurate because it takes important factors into account before assigning a cost to a product.
