2. What is a hotel?
Hotel is an establishment that provides services such
as accommodation, meals and other facilities required
for tourists and travellers for different purposes.
Who is a Guest?
A guest is defined as a person who is in a physical,
mental and financial state to avail the services and
facilities offered by a catering establishment.

3. Origin of hotel industry
•It is believed that a rest house was built in
Florence, Italy in 1282.
•Self service style inns started in Paris in 1312.
•Café and Coffee houses were opened by Mr.
Pascal in 1650 in Paris and London.
•1750-1820 Industrial revolution in England-
