3. Secure Transactions
When you are using a computer to do anything that
involves financial information it is critical to make sure
the transaction is secure (not seen by a third party).

4. What to look for on the screen
Users use Facebook
to share web links,
photos, or simply to
share what’s on their
mind. This is called
a status update.
From the main page,
look for “Update
Status” above your
friends updates.

5. Special Considerations for
Library Computers
It is simply not ideal to do something secure on a
shared computer but if you must:
•Always make sure you are using your barcode
and log-out completely (online account and
computer session)
•Use “InPrivate” Browsing, found under Tools
within Microsoft Explorer

6. Passwords Matter
As soon as you have your password memorized,
destroy whatever you wrote it on (better yet
choose one you can memorize and never write it
down!)
Safe passwords—upper lower, numbers, letters
and symbols and at least 10 characters.
Example 1: 30+3=Th1rtyThr33
Example 2: LL&PMrSp0ck (Live Long and
Prosper Mr Spock)
(both are easy to remember and not easy to
guess)
