3. Secure Transactions
When you are using a computer to do anything that
involves financial information it is critical to make sure
the transaction is secure (not seen by a third party).

4. What to look for on the screen
 Users use Facebook
to share web links,
photos, or simply to
share what’s on their
mind. This is called
a status update.
 From the main page,
look for “Update
Status” above your
friends updates.
 Try it! Update your
status now!

5. Special Considerations for
Library Computers
It is simply not ideal to do something secure on a
shared computer but if you must:
•Always make sure you are using your barcode
and log-out completely (online account and
computer session)
•Use “InPrivate” Browsing, found under Tools
within Microsoft Explorer

6. Passwords Matter
 As soon as you have your password memorized,
destroy whatever you wrote it on (better yet
choose one you can memorize and never write it
down!)
 Safe passwords—upper lower, numbers, letters
and symbols and at least 10 characters.
 Example 1: 30+3=Th1rtyThr33
 Example 2: LL&PMrSp0ck (Live Long and
Prosper Mr Spock)
 (both are easy to remember and not easy to
guess)
