List what will be covered
Spam – general reminder, be careful who you give your email address to!!! Signing up for a random contest by giving them your email address will likely lead to that company selling your address to spammers. Spam can be a great annoyance. Avoid getting a bunch of unwanted email by using discretion concerning who you give your address to.
Replaces letters -- using the postal system is sometimes called snailmail because in comparison email is so quick. An email address will be asked for for all online transactions that involve money i.e. shopping online. For this reason being careful who you trust is very important. Gmail offers over 6659 megabytes of storage (and counting) compared to 1.44 megabytes on the floppy discs available for sale here at the library. Save documents you need in your email to avoid having to keep a disc of information with you at all times.
Ask if there are any questions, spend a few minutes making sure this is all clear to everyone…
Point out highlights from handout #1 before going on to video about passwords. After give the class two minutes (timed to make it fun) to complete handout 2, emphasize there are no wrong answers.
Missing parts is like giving your home address without a city, state and zip code. Emphasize that you can’t have just one part. Emphasize this part as much as possible!!!
Have students share email addresses with somebody sitting by them and make sure everyone gets at least one address typed in the “to” section.
Just double click once you get to the item you want to attach. Once done send the email like normal
