Because  the Internet is like  a huge library  information system...
...and if you DON’T build your information system in a standard format well... It may be going to look GOOD, but not many are going to use it.
1) The  definition  of your site determines how effectively Google and human beings will be able to understand what you are all about
2) The  architecture  of your site determines how effectively Google and human beings will be able to discover what you have in store  for them
This is why defining correctly your site  and its architecture  are so vitally important
Hey Robin, but I need a simple site with a few categories and articles...... What else do I need to do?
Find out what your audience wants and build a site that has those traits. A.
Think well about your: Site name about your Site domain and about the name of the content Categories and areas you will have on your web site  B.
Think what type of content, functions and services the site should provide  C.
