The world of website hosting can be a confusing place to navigate.
Hosting companies exist by the bucketload, and it can be extremely
difficult to ascertain which ones are worth your money prior to
handing it over. Today, in this SiteGround review for WordPress,
we’re checking how the company’s offering stacks up.

SiteGround was founded in 2004, and since then it has grown into one of the
most well known hosting companies.
It is headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria with offices in 6 locations and data centers
in three continents. Today, the company has more than 400 employees and hosts
more than 500,000 domains.

What can you expect from each SiteGround plan?
5
SiteGround offers 3 shared hosting plans, which, in most cases,
adjust to the needs of most users – unless you have a really big
website. Note that all the plans share the following features:
• They do not limit the traffic that your website can receive. But of
course, if you have a lot of monthly visitors (e.g. over 100,000),
the shared hosting might fall short
• Databases and unlimited email accounts
• 30-day money-back guarantee
• SSD disks and it’s own caching system
• 24-hour phone, chat and email support

But, of course, not all SiteGround plans are equal. Below,
we’ll take a look at their main differences.
• StartUp: Ideal for users that have a single small-to-medium-sized website
and need less than 10 GB of space. In this plan you’ll have the cache service
for static content only (this will make your website faster). Advanced features
(e.g. staging) aren’t part of this package.
• GrowBig: This plan was created to store more than one website, with 20 GB
of space. You’ll have access to the staging tool, and their (smart) on-demand
backups system. On top of the caching system for the static content, this
plan makes it possible to cache dynamic content.
• GoGeek: In addition to offering you more space (40 GB) and better-
performing servers, this plan gives you access to pre-installed Git
repositories. It also comes with support for white label hosting, something
agencies will appreciate.

SITEGROUND FEATURES
Customized Hosting Solutions
The web host does this by selecting hardware, crafting server architecture, and developing custom software
solutions in a way that’s innovative.
SiteGround has made a name for itself as one of the best developers of game-changing technologies in the
field of web hosting.
Do More With One-Click Apps
The control panel includes Softaculous, which is a one-click installer tool. With Softaculous, you have
access to over 400 applications which can be easily added to your website to expand its functionality.
You can also use it to start/install a WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla site — or online store — with one click.
Easy to Use
The cPanel is part of a tabbed interface that also allows you to get technical and billing support and manage
your account.
Anyone who has used cPanel before should have no trouble with it. Even without experience, cPanel is
quite easy to use.

SITEGROUND FEATURES
Performance and Uptime
Server downtime is the worst enemy of any business site. This is because any time your website goes down
(even for as little as 30 minutes), you lose potential clients, lose the faith of your current clients, and may
drop in your SEO ranking.
That’s why it’s advisable to go with a web host that offers no less than today’s average of 99.9% uptime.
At SiteGround, that’s exactly what you get with a little extra kick to the mix. This web host offers all
customers a 99.99% monthly uptime guarantee.
Performance and Response Time
Many people get confused between uptime and response time. It’s really very simple. Uptime is the amount
of time that the server is available. Response time is how long it takes the server to send out a web page.
Just as with uptime, SiteGround provides excellent response times.
SiteGround only uses the latest technology in all its server hardware. User accounts are also moved
occasionally from old hardware to new upgraded, faster servers to ensure flawless performance for all of its
hosted websites at all times.

Overall Pros and Cons
9
Pros
• Excellent set of WordPress-specific features.
• The technology used – including SSDs, CDNs and PHP7 –
is modern and highly reputable.
• Support options are plentiful, with knowledgeable staff on hand.
• Page speed was good, and load testing was equally comparable.
• For a good WordPress hosting solution, the pricing is competitive.
Cons
• We found the SiteGround control panel rather basic looking – a
redesign is certainly in order.

Conclusion
10
SiteGround is a solid web hosting provider. My experience is certainly good on the
things that are important - uptime, support, speed, and technical capability.
The plan you choose will affect performance and speed to some degree. But when
I've talked to SiteGround users, I've found that all plans perform well in terms of
uptime and features.
The customer service you get is great across the board; customers on the cheaper
hosting plans appear to experience the same quality of support as those paying more
(although those with the GoGeek plan may be served faster).
SiteGround is definitely a host any serious website owner should consider. Are they
the right fit for you? Head over to SiteGround.com and decide for yourself.
