15. FACT ABOUT SUICIDE ……..
India, the world’s second most populous country of over
1 billion, has one of the highest suicide rates among
those aged 15 to 29 and accounts for over a third of
global suicides among women each year.
According to 2015 data from the National Crime
Records Bureau, 8934 (6.7% of all suicides) students are
committing suicide every year. That's one student every
hour.
Over 4,800 kids attempt to commit suicide daily, which
means there are 1,752,000 suicide attempts every year.

A total of 1,34,516 suicides were reported in the country during
2018 showing an increase of 3.6% in comparison to 2017 and
the rate of suicides has increased by 0.3 during 2018 over 2017.

18. SOME FACTS RELATED SUICIDE IDEATION IN
ADOLSCENT
Among adolescents who reported
suicidal thoughts, 50% of their
parents were unaware. About 76%
of parents were unaware of those
reporting thoughts of death.
The study also showed when
parents believed their teen had
suicidal thoughts, 48% of the teens
denied it. When parents reported
their child had thoughts of death,
67.5% of teens denied it.

32. CAUSES SUICIDE
Approximately 90% of people who have died by
suicide were suffering from a mental illness at the
time.
A Stressful life event may feel intense sadness or
loss, anxiety, anger, or hopelessness, and may
occasionally have the thought that they would be
better off dead.
Adolescent is suffering from depression or another
psychiatric disorder and should seek professional
treatment.
