Slides leveraged from EOS London Developers' Meetup a few days earlier. David Packham argues that EOS is one of the most promising third-generation blockchain/distributed ledger technologies yet to hit the market. With the release scheduled for mid-year, we would like to create some awareness about the project in Japan, and also discuss one of the many ecosystem projects that are being proposed on top of EOS, Chintai as a platform for token leasing.

2. Overview of EOS
• DPOS with 21 Block producers + 100 standby.
• A Block every 0.5 seconds & transactions become irreversible after 1
second.
• Consensus is reached with 15/21 block producers.
• Feeless transactions.
• 1000 TPS on a single threaded blockchain (no optimizations)

3. EOS – Operating System
• Comparable to an extremely thin Linux kernel.
• EOS core only contains necessary bits to boot the blockchain.
• Barebones EOS blockchain – single producer, no tokens or DPOS.
• Everything else is a Smart contract. Updates without hard forking.
• What makes EOS DPOS (voting and resource allocation) is a smart
contract.

4. Context Free Actions
• Actions included in transactions that don’t depend upon blockchain
state.
• Parallel processing.
• Context free computation can be pruned during block replay.
• BPs will incentivize the use of context free actions.

5. Security Delayed transactions
• User configurable delayed actions.
• Transfer as action with 30 day delay.
• EOS is feeless so stealing tokens becomes difficult.

• Contract development as simple and painless as possible.
• C++ knowledge (class and methods) = smart contract writer.
• Single command provides smart contract boilerplate template.

• Continuingly operating contracts.
• Other platforms require off-chain solutions.
• Netflix on the blockchain.

8. Inter blockchain communication
• Light client implementation – smart contract.
• Validates transactions without processing entire blockchain.
• Traditional light - process every block header and validates proofs.
• EOS light clients only processes - active BPs change AND inter-blockchain
messages.
• Completely byzantine fault tolerant.

9. How fast will EOS be.
• 1000 – 3000 TPS at launch – single threaded.
• Parallel processing pushes that up to 6000 TPS.
• Interblockchain communication = unlimited TPS.
• One token to rule them all.
