According to tradition, the Armenian Church was founded by two of Jesus' twelve apostles – Thaddaeus and Bartholomew – who preached Christianity in Armenia between AD 40–60. Because of these two founding apostles, the official name of the Armenian Church is Armenian Apostolic Church. The Armenian churches and monasteries are built throughout Armenia. More than spiritual centers, these churches have also served as medieval educational and research institutions.
Erevan is located in the Araratian plain, and a breathtaking view of the Holy Mount Ararat brings its kind presence to every corner of the city. Emerging from Ancient Castle of Erebuni, which was founded in 782 BC by Armenian king Menua, Yerevan is 29 years older then Rome and ornamented with inviting squares and splendid museums, galleries and spirited with theatres, universities, restaurants, cafes and parks it is younger than many Western capitals. Yerevan is leaning over a few hills and is cut into two parts by the gorge of Hrazdan River, the only river that has Lake Sevan as its source and which eventually joins Arax River. At the moment Yerevan is home for over one million people. In 1924 architect Alexander Tamanyan designed today’s general plan of the city. The buildings in the city were initially designed so that Mount Ararat could be seen from every building. Also the main highways in the city were designed so that, if continued mentally they would lead to Ararat. Yerevan is acclaimed for its excellent water, for its hospitable people and of course for the fabulous view of Ararat. The sense of Ararat’s presence in this city and numerous remarkable churches in Yerevan has attracted many pilgrims.

Armenia is the motherland of the Apricot, is the oldest and genuine center for growing apricot. This is proved by 3000 year old apricot cores discovered during excavations at Garni temple, 25 km far from Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. It is also testified by wide varieties of apricot trees growing in Armenia. The apricot was imported into Europe by Lucullus, a Roman general after the 1st century B.C. Because of its origin the fruit was known as "prunus Armeniaca" which means "Armenian plum". The Armenian sources are not the only ones to provide information about apricot: in cuneiform inscriptions by Sargon the 2nd of Asorestan (24th century B.C.), we find that he had taken with him plum, apple, mulberry and apricot. In the 2nd and 3rd millenniums B.C. apricot was known to many old nations in the world as "armanu
