ADJECTIVE
CLAUSE
Adjective Clause หมายถึง อนุประโยคที่ทาหน้าที่เป็นคุณศัพท์ขยายนาม หรือ
ขยายคาเสมอนามได้เช่นเดียวกันกับ Adjective ธรรมดา แต่การขยายด้วย Adjective
Clause จะทาให้ข้อความนั้นหนักแน่น และเด่นชัดขึ้นกว่าการขยายด้วย Adjective
ธรรมดา
ลักษณะของประโยค Adjective Clause จะนาหน้าด้วย “คาเชื่อมสัมพันธ์
(Relative words)” ได้แก่
1.Relative pronoun
who, whom, whose, which, that
2.Relative Adverb
where, when
FOR EXAMPLE
Who I have a friend. My friend can swallow goldfish.
 I have a friend who can swallow goldfish.
Whom The thief killed an FBI. Konan caught the thief.
 The thief whom Konan caught killed an FBI.
Whose A lexicographer is a person. His job is to write
dictionary.
 A lexicographer is a person whose job is to write
dictionary.
Which I think it was a ghost spirit. I saw the spirit
last night.
 I think it was a ghost spirit which I saw last night
That He shows me the rock. He has been collecting
them for years.
 He shows me the rock that he has been collecting
for years.
Where This is the house. I live in the house
 This is the house where I live
When Sunday is the day. I have no work to do on
Sunday.
หลักการใช้RELATIVE PRONOUN : DEFINING AND
NON DEFINING CLAUSE
1.Defining Clause คือ Clause ที่มีความสาคัญกับประโยค ไม่มีเครื่องหมาย
comma คั่นระหว่างกลางและไม่สามารถตัดทิ้งได้ เช่น
The woman who wears yellow shirt, red skirt and green
hat is my mother.
2.Non-Defining Clause คือ Clause ที่ ไม่สาคัญ มักมีเครื่องหมาย comma
และสามารถละได้ ไม่ทาให้ความหมายของประโยคเปลี่ยนแปลงไป เช่น
Mr.Anderson, who is my teacher, is very rich.
