Our clients were looking for an entertaining area for the whole family,
in addition to a private suite for visiting relatives. We converted a large
basement into their dream space. The area includes a game room, a media
area, a refreshment area, a craft room, and a guest suite with full bathroom.
Details include a stone wall encompassing a large screen television and
fireplace, chauffeured ceilings, heated floors, and a unique shower. Even
though the project you have in mind might not be a basement, come by
and let us discuss how we can work together on acheiving “your” dream
remodeling project.
DIRECTIONS > From the west: Take M-14 to Beck Road proceed south to
North Territorial (first traffic signal) and turn right (west). Go to Ridge Road
(second traffic signal) and turn left (south). Take Ridge to Powell Road and
turn right, and go to Hopkins (1st street on right) turn right and take it to the
end, which is Cooke Ave., turn right and we will be directly on your left.
From the east: Take Ann Arbor Road to Ridge Road and turn right (north), go
to Powell Road (stop sign) and turn left. Take Powell to Hopkins (1st street on

PROJECT > Basement Renovation
Truly amazing sums up this 2000 square foot basement renovation! Our client’s
walk-out was lacking both character and creature comforts before meeting
with our designers. A semi-functional space was converted into a custom home
theatre with “floating” cherry columns that hide the surround speakers.
The whole room is controlled via remote control or an Ipad, down to the
LED accent lighting.
Details abound in the remaining living space; an open staircase leads to the
main level, a stacked stone fireplace with reclaimed oak mantle grounds the
room, a curved cherry bar with bark edge glass display shelving and a slate
floored caterer’s dream kitchen round out this not-so subtle man cave.

We have worked with these clients doing phased design and build work for over 8
years to transform this 1973 Landau house into a home that now has a consistent
craftsman style, with rich natural materials, simple forms and refined aesthetics.
Recent renovations: Home Office & Living Room- custom crafted cherry casework,
fresh finishes and lighting. 2nd Floor Bath- gut and remodel, heated tile floors,
brilliant granite and tile details that delight, warm wood tones. Custom Stair
Railing- craftsman styled woodworking, hand crafted of cherry, walnut and holly.
Doors- see the great effect of replacing all ‘builder grade’ interior doors with
solid oak doors and quality hardware.
Previous renovations: Kitchen-Cherry cabinets, soapstone counters, crackled
glazed tile backsplash, quarry tile flooring. Family Room- Opened part of the
wall to kitchen for sightlines, new fireplace insert with intricate tile surround &
hearth, cherry mantle and wall-to-wall built-in casework. Mudroom- a heavily
used and valued space with custom cubbies made of Douglas fir.

Meadowlark Builders
PROJECT > Kitchen / Interior Remodel
This Landau contemporary was in stuck in the ‘70s and in dire need of
updating. It had plenty of square footage, but it wasn’t comfortable or
functional; the closed floor plan was choppy, and the steps leading from
room to room were awkward and of varying height. The kitchen space was
adequate, but the layout was inefficient. The new owners wanted to open up
the floor plan and make a home that would be great for entertaining and would
accommodate their growing young family. They also had a limited budget and,
with the impending arrival of their first child, a very tight timeframe.
The Meadowlark Builders redesign created a dramatic change in the flow of
the home. A complete kitchen remodel and the removal of walls opened up
the spaces to more light and to beautiful vignettes of the surrounding lot. The
result is a stunning open-concept first floor that will accommodate adults,
babies, and guests alike.

contemporary kitchen, complete with butler’s pantry and attached mudroom.
The kitchen features Pinnacle cabinetry, granite countertops, a custom mosaic
