• Management plans.
• It is highly interactive.
• It identify and define the work of the project
• It combine, unify and integrated the appropriate processes.
• It also takes into account satisfactorily meeting the requirements
of the customer and stakeholders and manage there expectations.
It has two tools:
- EarnedValue Management (EVM)
- Project management software

• It defines all the work of the project and only the work needed to
successfully produce the project goals.
• It is highly interactive.
• It defines and controls what is and what is not part of the project.
• It encompasses on both product management and project scope.
• Project scope is measured against the project management plan.
• Scope bassline is made up of project scope statement, work
breakdown structure (WBS) andWBS dictionary.

This knowledgeArea comprises seven processes

• It estimate the duration of the project activities, devising a
project schedule and monitoring and controlling the deviations
from the schedule.
• It deals with completing the project in timely manner
• It is an important aspect of project management as it is concerned
in keeping the project activities on track and monitoring those
activities against the project management plan to ensure that the
project is completed on time.
Project Cost Management
This knowledgeArea comprises four processes

Controlling
• It establish cost estimates for resource, establish budgets and
keep watch over those costs to ensure the project stays within
the approved budget.
Two techniques are used :
- life cycle costing
- Value Engineering
Project Quality Management
This knowledgeArea comprises three processes

• It ensures that the project meets the requirements that is was
undertaken to produce.
• It focus on product quality as well as on the quality of the project
management processes.
• It measures overall performance and monitor project results and
compare them to the quality standards set out in the project
planning process to ensure that the customers will receive the
product or service or result as expected
Project Human Resource Management
This knowledgeArea comprises four processes

• It involves all aspects of people management and personal
interaction, including leading, coaching, dealing with conflicts,
conducting performance appraisal and more.
• It ensures that the human resources assigned to the project are
used in the most effective way.
Project Communication Management
This knowledgeArea comprises three processes

Manage Communications Executing
Control Communications Monitoring and
Control
• It is related to general communication skills
• Communication Skills are considered interpersonal skills that the
PM utilized on daily basis.
• It ensures that all project information (plans, risk assessments,
meeting notes..) are collected ,organized, stored and distributed
to stakeholders and management and PM at proper time.
Project Risk Management

potential risks both negative and positive that might impact the
project.
• It minimize the probability and impact of negative risks while
maximizing the probability and impact of positive risks.
Project Procurement Management
This knowledgeArea comprises Four processes

• It includes the processes involved with purchasing goods or
services from vendors, contractors, suppliers and other outside
the project team.
• These processes involves negotiating and managing contracts.

This knowledgeArea comprises Four processes

Manage Stakeholder Engagement Executing
Control Stakeholder Monitoring and

• It is concerned with identifying all of the stakeholders associated
with the project, both internal and external to the organization.
• It also assess stakeholders needs, expectations , and involvement
on the project and seek to keep the lines of communications with
stakeholders open and clear
