3. Time to focus.
Some things are out of your hands, but others are not.
Make the most of your time with Focus Management.
Here is a brief Summary of the situations I plan to help
you make the most of your time in…
1. STUCK IN TRAFFIC
2. IN THE AIRPORT
3. AT THE HOTEL
4. TAKING AN UBER
5. AT THE GYM
4. Stuck in TRAFFIC
As you can see, we spend quite a bit of time in traffic,
but that doesn’t mean it needs to go to waste. Let’s be
smart here and use some common sense; don’t set up
a part time office in your car, you are driving still.
Safety first.
➔ Instead of the annoying radio or draining your
battery streaming SoundCloud, why not try a
Podcast. Here is a great article from Jeff
Haden - listing some of the Top Productive
Podcasts to listen to.
➔ Also, for you book lovers out there - try a new
Audiobook that you have been wanting to
read/listen to. Rachel Gillett wrote an article
last Summer interviewing the CEO of
Audiobooks.com, Sanjay Singhal. Here are his
Top 10 Audiobooks.
5. In the AIRPORT
TRUST ME, I GET IT, AIRPORTS CAN BE AN ABSOLUTE
NIGHTMARE AT TIMES, BUT ONLY IF YOU AREN’T
PREPARED.
- Arrive early to find prime real estate at the Gate as
you wait on your flight. Try and get the majority of
any work you need to finish done in the Airport
compared to on the plane.
- Last check! Make sure to have all necessary
chargers, adaptors, tickets, boarding passes, etc.
- Choosing the right Apps for your trip is key. This
goes back to planning ahead. What situations will
you be in? What tools will you need on-the-go?
How will I track my expenses? Here are a great list
of the Top 10 Must Have Business Travel Apps.
6. At the HOTEL
Tips for getting the most out of your stay
★ REWARDS - Find the Hotel that offers the best Rewards Program that fits
your traveling needs and wants. Some favor flexibility, others free amenities -
which is best for you?
★ TRAVEL LIGHT - The less you have to carry into the Hotel the better.
★ JUST ASK - It never hurts to simply ask for something; all they can say is
“Yes” or “No.” Ask for an upgrade, you’d be surprised what a smile can do.
★ CHECK REVIEWS - You can make anything look nice and pretty on the web,
make sure to check out what people are saying about the Hotel first.
★ HERE IS A LIST OF THE TOP TEN HOTEL REWARDS PROGRAMS BY THE U.S.
NEWS - Travel Rankings and Advice.
7. Taking an UBER You never know...
The Uber driver community is growing by the day.
Instead of assuming this person drives a car around
all day for a living, think again.
Uber creates a setting that could benefit you more
than you realize. Spark a conversation, pitch an idea
you may be hesitant to pitch at the office, just don’t
sit there in silence.
Having an unbiased opinion or point of view on
something can be very beneficial. They don’t know
you nor do you know them. A future investor could
have just dropped you off at the bar and you had no
clue.
Always have business cards on you. Networking
needs to come natural to you, even in an Uber.
8. At the GYM
“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.”
- Eleanor Roosevelt
Being able to make the most of your time starts from a mental
standpoint. If your thoughts and mind are in one place while
you are in another, what good are you to anyone? Find your
“GYM” and not only keep your body in shape, but your mind
as well.
- SET GOALS
- RELIEVE STRESS
- BUILD MENTAL TOUGHNESS
- CLEAR YOUR MIND
- ESTABLISH SELF-DISCIPLINE
- INSPIRING PODCAST
- MOTIVATING VIDEO
Here are some of my favorite Motivational & Inspiring
Videos that light a fire under my you know what. Check out

9. REVIEW
TRAFFIC
Traffic is nearly
inevitable for some of
us, but that doesn’t
mean it can’t be
productive! Find a new
Audiobook or Podcast to
get the most out of your
drive.
AIRPORT
Arrive early for your
flights and try to get
work done in the Airport,
not on the plane if
possible. Charge up the
phone, laptop, cross
your T’s dot your I’s...
HOTEL
I’ve always been a big fan
of spending the extra
dollar for a good night’s
rest. Double check if the
hotel comes up Free Wi-Fi,
Breakfast, Fitness Center,
Business Center, Bed
preference, etc.
UBER
What consumes your
thoughts, consumes
your life. None of your
time will be used
valuably if your mind
isn’t where it needs to
be. Find your stress
reliever.
GYM
You never know who
could be picking you up
these days. Make the
most of this setting to
pitch an idea, network,
ask a question you may
be scared to ask at the
office, etc.
10. Stop making the
excuse of not having
enough time in your
life. Manage your time,
manage your focus.
