Commuters’ preferred mode of transportation
is in the middle of a large overhaul

• Since 2010, commuters have signaled a large shift in the way that they prefer to get to and from the office.
• With recent trends in wellness and sustainability, employees are choosing to walk and bike to work increasingly
more often, while driving becomes far less likely.
• Landlords are now required to accommodate these preference shifts by incorporating showers and bike lockers
into their properties.
• Working from home and other (ridesharing, etc.) are also making a large push, which works in conjunction with
tenants shrinking their leasing footprints and requiring lower parking ratios.
